Great hard-to-find vinyl and fair prices (better than Discogs). Excellent and knowledgeable staff. A+++++++++
Everett Kirkman
Has lots of old records not much for classic rock but cool place.
Chris Abromavage
Great little record store with usually a little something else going on in the way of art or live music. An eclectic selection of records and books as well. Lots of eye candy too. Full disclosure, the owner is an old friend. He's also a fellow musician and a published author. You probably won't find the latest hits but you will find some very collectible vinyl.
Clay Carlton
One of Louisville's prime record stores! Brett is one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to the local music scene, as well as having a seemingly endless list of recommendations. A must go to spot if you're passing through or just getting into vinyl!

Excellent energy in side. Required masks and gave gloves out for those flipping through records. Great music being played while in store, and we were offered the opportunity to play records on the turntable, that we might be interested in. Great selection of books, including some local Louisville archival books. Interesting art work on the walls, and an art gallery in the back of house. Owner was very open to conversation, did not feel elite, and recommended a few pieces of music and a few books. no pressure to buy anything in store. Brought a few record fiends with me from out of town and they made a purchase or two. Owner talked shop with them about where they live and music geographically with a strong love for Louisville proper. Its the kind of spot (sans covid) that yuo would want to sit in a chair and drink a cup of tea or glass of whiskey in, or both, and be part of an hour or two.

Can't say enough good stuff about this place. Owner very friendly, vinyl is nicely curated - not a huge amount but no crud to wade through, fair prices, cool used books and little art gallery in the back. A gem.

I prefer to buy used over new anytime when it comes to media and Surface Noise has been my go to for music and books since it opened. I honestly don't think I've ever bought from a record store that I actually looked forward to going to until this place opened... it's not just a store... the place feels like home. Community oriented vibe and selection is small, sure, but INCREDIBLY varied and ever changing. Doesn't hurt that the owner is the greatest conversationalist to ever walk this Earth either. Surface Noise is a warm spot in a cold World. Also... there is usually a Dog. (DARBS)

Not a very big store, but really cool ambience. The owner is super friendly. An added bonus is the used books in the back!

Excellent in every way! Had a good time talking records and music with Bill. Cool art on the walls, great selection of records in the bins, and cool music playing on the turntable. We will be stopping in next time we come through town. Favorite spot of all the record shops I went to in town.

I went to Surface Noise 2nd anniversary last night, and it was a fantastic night! Local and regional bands played, and each one had an excellent performance! The place was packed! Brett's gallery in the back of the shop is also wonderful featuring talented artwork from local artists. Please support this place! It is a Louisville gem!

Brett is a true community minded business person with a deep passion for the written word, art and music. Surface Noise has filled a tremendous gap in the community and is actively helping rebuild it. A remarkable establishment with a friendly, down to earth approachable feel.

It's amazing the variety of olive that you can find at Surface Noise! They have rare, classic, pop,... Any sort of genre that you can think of. I have never purchased an album at the store and had any issues with playback. A+++

Loved this little place! Brett was so personable and very helpful. Great selection and atmosphere. Also, who doesn't love a store with a friendly mascot? Derby is very chill.

Friendly and knowledgeable owner. Found a couple of rock platters my collection was missing. Prices mostly in line with what you'll find on the internet. Collection a bit smaller than many others.

A shop that focuses on building community, with art installations, performances, author events, and meetings. Sometimes I like the prices, sometimes i don't. But, they tend to have a deep well of...I havent seen thats.
