Ryan & Co. are great people and they do fantastic work. I've had multiple guitars set up and repaired and they all come back to me playing better than new. Plus, Ryan is just plain cool and appreciates your instrument as much as you do.

Top notch business. Extreme knowledge of all string instruments. Had him do some work on a vintage gibson guitar. It now plays and looks beautiful, just as it should. Would recommend to anyone and will go back without hesitation.

Master workmanship, period. I asked him to install LR Baggs Anthem to my acoustic, and he made it perfect. I'm kind of picky, but he willingly reflected my demand. If you are looking for a trustworthy luthier, he is the man. Highly recommended. Updates as of May 2018: More recently, he has worked on my guitars for neck re-set, installing slotted-head tuning machines, another pickup installation, and a number of set-ups. All the works done meticulously with fine details. I recommended Ryan to my friends, and they are all satisfied as well. I cannot be happier with the results!

Scott Guitar Works' adjusted an Taylor 12 string I was about to sell and made it play better than it ever has, so now I will be keeping it : ) Also, took a custom shop Yamaha AC5R made in Japan to him and he made it play like butter. Definitely the best in Louisville and Taylor authorized as well. He is a busy man, but you will not be disappointed in his excellent work! 5 stars!

Had an acoustic guitar that had been pretty beat up due to playing music for a living. Heard though some very reliable musicians that he was the man to call to fix any guitar. Scott and his staff are very professional, honest, and priced fair. Just keep in mind, he is a very busy Lutheran and might take a day or two to get back to you. Without a doubt, I will always be taking any of my guitars to his shop for the rest of my life. The guitar is at a whole new level. I can't say enough positive things about this wonderful place! 10/10

Ryan refretted my 23 year old 1998 Gretsch Electromatic Red Glitter Jet with polished stainless steel frets, using professional tools, some directly purchased from Germany. He did an absolutely phenomenal and flawless job, confirming his superb craftsmanship. Impeccable, professional; the stuff of dreams, literally. Good luck finding someone this good.

I came here with a guitar that seemed like a lost cause and I was very adamant to have it become some kind of perfect playing custom. Not only did Ryan communicate well, but he absolutely exceeded my expectations and literally blew me away, my friends don’t even believe it’s the same guitar. I have played music for about 50 years now, on and off. Never had a pro setup done to any of my guitars. I played them as is. They were not bad but never properly setup. Two electric, one acoustic. Had a bad experience locally and decided to look out of town. After setting up and minor work on them I couldn’t be happier. Great experience, easy to deal with and very competent. Ryan is a great luthier. He reset the neck and the action on the nut and saddle of my new Taylor 12 string. It plays amazing. I was impressed that he works on all types of stringed instruments and builds custom guitars/basses. He is very knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to make your instrument as good as possible. Great experience! Excellent communication and very professional and courteous. I had a wiring issue with my '87 Charvel. He did a great job rewiring everything and set it up. Now it's one of my favorite guitars to play! Would highly recommend!

My name is Patrick, and Ryan did an awesome job setting up my gibson j-15! my guitar sounded good before i took it to him but the action was a little high and intonation needed to be set. When i went to pick the guitar up and played it i could transition up and down the fretboard like butter and guitar sounds amazing! The neck relief is perfect! and some people don't realize what a good setup can do! even if you think your guitar sounds and plays great take it to ryan and get a high quality professional setup done and you will be amazed on what a difference it will make in the sound and playability!!!

I had a1970's continental drifter 12 string basically unpayable. Had a yoke. Bridge you could not keep in tune and the action was so high it was nearly impossible to pla . The intonation was nearly a full 1/2 step off too. Ryan looked at it and saw the bracing inside was very sturdy and sound. He came up with a very creative solution to make this guitar play great and sound fantastic. He replaced the yoke with a bridge and pin bridge and saddle. The intonation is perfect now and plays like a dream. The sound is unreal. I'll be taking my other guitars to him to set up as well.

I’ve used Ryan Scott on every one of my 10 guitars for the past 10+ years. There’s never been one occasion when the guitar did not come back perfect. He is one of those master craftsman who will work tirelessly in order to make it right. I’ve probably sent 30 or 40 people to them over the last 10 years and everyone raves about his work. He’s also Taylor-certified for warranty repairs, having trained there as well. And he knows bass guitars as much as anyone, having literally built many custom basses from scratch. He takes jobs that have seemed impossible for other guitar shops and literally accomplished the impossible. If you need an acoustic or electric set up, new pickups installed, a neck reset, frets replaced, cracks repaired, build a new custom guitar ... doesn’t matter. If it can be done, Scott GW can do it, and the prices are more than reasonable. This is your one place to go to. He’s the only guy I call. Can’t say enough good things about SGW. Went in there with my uncle on Feb. 1st to get some work done on a project bass. Even though we arrived pretty much unannounced, Mr. Scott was nice enough to do some work on the neck that we couldn't have done ourselves and he didn't even charge us. Was only in there less than an hour but Mr. Scott was very helpful and friendly and did some great work.
