I’ve purchased a few guitars (both new and used) from Arthur’s over the years. Always been happy with the quality and the price. Just really great people. They know their stuff and are always happy to share their knowledge to steer you in the right direction. Never any pressure to buy. They want to build relationships rather than make a quick sale. Highly recommended.

Wonderful music store with a wide selection of instruments. They have me a great deal on an unpriced psaltery, I already have plans for a used hammered dulcimer that both looked and sounded great that was available, and eventually will be picking up the mandolin I saw there which was priced fairly and was shown how to briefly play it by the store associate. Actually, they showed me how to play several instruments while I was there and didn't make me feel like a burden at all, showing great customer service patience and care. For instrument maintenence, I'll be coming here from now on and will always be checking back for different instruments they get in. Some of their stock can vary on what they receive. I'm glad to have found a dulcimer and the instruments there make me wish I had a place for more at home. Come check out Arthur's if your local, even more so if your not; you never know what chance encounter you may have!

Very knowledgeable staff. Very laid back, not pushy which I disdain. Enjoyable atmosphere. A really nice little old music store that's been around for years. My Dad (Frank) spoke highly of Arthur's and he was a hard man to please. My Dad would always "go downtown to Arthur's." I think in the future, so shall I. Much better than a big tin box store. Arthur's has some atmosphere and character. Nice instruments for sale, too. Pretty reasonable prices. I want to return when I have more time (and money) to shop for an instrument.

Made it over to Arthur’s to see about buying a banjo. They walked me through different models for price points, and I was very impressed with their selection and knowledge! Not to mention, the prices were very fair and better than I had found for comparable banjos online. They also were able to set me up with other things I would need to get started and advice on care and maintenance. It was such a great experience, and I’m excited to find such an awesome place to fuel my love of music again. I highly recommend for any musician’s needs.

There's just something about a family owned local business that always wins in my book! This music store has a great selection of instruments as well as very knowledgeable staff. Arthur's has been around forever and it's for a good reason. The staff is friendly, honest and knowledgeable. Music merchandise is the life of everyone in that store. I couldn't be happier with my experiences there. And I am perfectly happy to properly wear shoes, pants or a mask if such a simple thing is all they ask. Anyone whiny enough to think that's too much to ask probably shouldn't be allowed inside such a wonderful business anyway.

We made the trek to Arthur’s a few weeks ago and I don’t regret hauling my cookies down to Fountain Square for one second. Emily took her time to help my 8-year old pick out the perfect new harmonica, and he was so excited. She took her time to explain the differences between models, and even walked him through care and cleaning. She broke everything down in terms he understood, and made sure that he knew how to take care of his ‘investment’. Im in a treatment program not far from this store, I enjoy smaller size (parlor, 3/4, 1/2 size) guitars and what I owned was an old Yamaha, and had no luck selling it or trading it. They know the market very well and were able to send me out the door with a brand new guitar, the one i had hoped for, in fact. Kind, knowledgeable and expert staff. Cant beat prices on strings and other items as well, I have a tuner, two slides and a capo I spent under 30 bucks on. I will continue to give them my business and i recommenced others do as well

This place is awesome! Tons of guitars and accessories, along with other things as well, drums, ukes, instruments I've never even seen or heard of! The employees couldn't be any cooler or more welcoming! Great luthier who does very good work. They also offer lay-a-way, I've never heard of that anywhere! And it was how I was able to finally get my dream guitar an HD-28! If not for their lay-a-way option I'd prolly never had been fortunate enough to own one! They make you feel like family there and I consider them friends. I will never go anywhere but Arthur's Music Store! A+ A+ A+ I found this shop while looking for a Martin Guitar. Fell in love with a guitar but it didn't have a pickup in it. I purchased a Fishman pickup from them and they installed it for free (standard practice at Arthur's FYI) I picked up the guitar after the work was finished, the guitar played just as beautifully as I remembered. Took it home and the pickup wasn't working. Sad day.... Took the guitar back to them, They found the problem, replaced the pickup that was faulty and it is playing and sounding like a dream now! I am super happy with the guitar, the pickup system, and every second of service I received at this store. OLD SKOOL COOL!!!!!! The shop really appears like the only thing that has changed in the last 40 years is the inventory. It truly speaks to my soul. PROPS to the family/owners for keeping this gem alive. I will be supporting Arthur's exclusively from now on.

After 23 years, well over a dozen stringed instruments, several amps, repairs, too many accessories to remember, & a complete PA system, I would rate my time at Arthur's Music Store as being very positive. My entire attitude changed! The staff is phenomenal, and made a novice like me feel welcome. Arthur's is a small local music shop that has been around since my grandma was playing guitar and buying Kay instruments from them. Though I'm not sure how much it's changed since then, what I can say is it's always reasonably well stocked with a rotating selection of instruments, and most importantly helpful staff that doesn't ignore you or pester you constantly. Everytime I come in they gladly let me play guitars and basses off the walls that are on display, even the pricier ones.

The folks that work at Arthur's are the nicest you've ever met. They're very helpful and they are not the least bit pushy. Sometimes if I feel lonely, I just stop by and pretend like I want something so I can practice my social skills to, hopefully, make some real friends of my own some day. But for real - we all buy stuff on Amazon or Sweetwater these days but Arthur's has surprisingly competitive prices and sometimes you just need some funky odds and ends things for your instrument or amplifier that you may not be able to identify online. Brick and mortar might be on the way out but I plan to continue supporting Arthur's. They're good people and they have good stuff.

Arthur’s has been a staple in the music community for years. I stopped in with a friend once to play an old Martin. He ended up going a different direction but the staff was really knowledgeable and they encouraged him to play this old valuable guitar until he was content. I thought that spoke volumes. They were genuinely interested in having him find the right guitar, not just making a sale. More recently, at the beginning of Covid, I contacted them about a looper pedal. I play in a band and was bummed to cancel shows and rehearsals. They walked me through my options over the phone and had my looper shipped out that day. I’m able to make some music solo now. Ive been a customer of Arthur's for a very short period of time in comparison with the longevity of the establishment, yet in my short but great experience with the store, its great owners and helpfull staff i have nothing but a great concept of them and im proud to be part of the history by being a customer. Arthur's is way more than a music store it is an iconic part of Indianapolis history, the backbone for the development of the musical artists community in the city, making it possible for young kids to purchase fairly priced instruments and learning how to play them since the late 50s till this very day. Being family owned for more than 60 years its a clear statement that they love what they do, generation after generation keeping it going despite the rollercoaster of life and its economy it is far from easy. I am not a musician. I will not pretend to be. But I am a Dad and when my 6 year old says she wants to play the Ukulele, Daddy is going to try to make that possible. I walked into Arthur's and even though I had no idea what I was doing, I was treated as though I did. I knew that when I left here I would be the one answering the questions from my daughter, so I had to be prepared and the lady the helped me was nothing short of stellar. I didnt think anyone would care because i was buying a kids ukulele, but I feel like I was treated as if I was buying a guitar. Me and my boyfriend stopped in because we we're passing through and stayed @ a hotel nearby. This music store is THE BEST music store I've EVER been to! They have an extensive selection for guitars, banjos, mandolins, electric, acoustic ect! They have everything from native American flutes to steel drums to accordions & even rare and exotic pieces! VERY IMPRESSIVE! the staff was EXTREMELY friendly & knowledgeable, they let us play with the instruments, gave us sound advice & even recommended a great place to eat lunch. We ended up buying a fabulous acoustic guitar and a wooden flute! Which both sound so beautiful! we are very happy with our purchases! And the pricing was just right! Thanks guys soooo much! We had a wonderful time! The people who work here make you feel like friends that you could easily just pull up a stool and crack a beer with! We definitely will be back every time we roll through! Unfortunately they didn't have a selection of guitar pedals. They had some but it was really not impressive. They have some good amps though, and good prices.

I bought my first professional guitar, an Olympic White Fender Jazzmaster, at Arthur’s in 1961 when I was a junior in high school. For the next two years, until I went away to college, I played virtually every weekend in a band that was booked by disc jockeys from WIBC radio. The group called “The Blue Angels” played over a hundred shows at high schools throughout the state. It was the most exciting time any teenager could have asked for and I loved every minute. Arthur’s was and still is the only place I go for anything musical.
