Small and cramped shop, but friendly and helpful staff. They sell used gear on consignment here. I kind of wish that they would just buy it outright. After having Dan's hold onto my used guitar for several months without it selling, I had to pick it back up from them and take it to Guitar Center to sell instead.

Store is packed full of a variety of instruments and accessories. Dan and Ben are personable, knowledgeable, and professional. Items are reasonably priced, and they really make it a point to deliver quality customer service and products. Needed a last-minute string change and a couple of accessories for my guitar, and I was in and out of the shop super quick. A pleasant experience for sure. Highly recommend Dan's Guitars.

Dan and the Staff have expert knowledge and are kind people dedicated to supporting the musicians in Hawaii. This shop has so much too quality equipment at every orice level and Dan listens very well, making the utmost effort to find out what you truly need. If you have any issues with a purchase they take care if it. The repair side if the business is too nitch, I have had over 6 guitars repaired, it takes a little bit if time because they are busy but they do a fantastic job. If you want the best, go with Dan’s.

Can’t say enough about this place! I just went there an hour ago and am still shocked and extremely grateful for the excellent customer service that was given. All I was expecting was to buy new strings and maybe receive a few answers to help repair my beat up guitar. I left with new strings, a new saddle, a mini guitar lesson, and a new found confidence in beginning my guitar playing journey. Hands down one of the best experiences in a music shop I’ve ever had! Dan’s guitars exemplifies the Aloha spirit, like everyone else after Covid a vacation was due. On a personal note we were working on a tune for my Moms funeral bringing the guitars was not practical. Knowledgeable staff with excellent communication. They reply to texts faster than I do. I inquired about an ukulele via text, and they gave me a lot of options. Narrowed it down to a specific model, which they had in stock, and they sent a photo of it (again via text) right away. Regrettably the transaction was pretty fast; it would have been nice to have an excuse to spend some more time in the shop.

Amazing group of people!! It's really good to come to a guitar shop and be able to geek out with people that share the same passion for the instrument like you do. I can't say the same for the other major music stores on island such as Guitar Center. You can't beat Dan's guitars customer service and genuine guitar loving people. I will definitely be coming more often to visit them. Especially with all the unique and exclusive products they carried such as PRS guitars, Synergy amps, Surh custom guitars and many more.

Move selection of guitars, ukuleles, banjos, and other stringed instruments. New and used cases, amps and other equipment and supplies. Friendly and helpful. Helped us find what we needed and offered advice on how to protect our guitar on an airplane. Even offered a free box for added protection of sending through as luggage. Dan's has been my go to place for years.

Dan is patient and kind in addition to being very knowledgeable. All the staff are. I love this place. I needed 3 guitars repaired. As with every time I have been to Dan's, I was greeted as soon as I walked in. My precious instruments were diagnosed, 2 fixed on the spot, third needed more extensive work, but the price was very fair and much less than expected. The staff works like a well oiled machine and I barely had enough time to strum a beautiful 12 string I'm in love with there. I feel like they make each customer feel like the most important customer of the day every single time they visit. Also, the background music of talented musicians playing the inventory adds to the overall awesome experience. Wish I could give 10 stars.

A cozy small music/instrument store. Its somewhat limited in their selection. There's no new Martin or Taylor guitars, but have other lesser known brands, which are nice too. The staff is friendly & attentive. A good place to start looking for used or new gear. Highly recommend.

It's a small place that's really crammed full of music gear that's easy to spot on Kapahulu Ave. Just look for the blue painted front between Starbucks and Papa John's, across street from Street Side Inn. The people who works there are cool to chit chat with when not busy. The prices are usually pretty good. Product availability in store is somewhat hit or miss, but if they don't have it in stock it doesn't hurt to ask whether they can order it for you. Just be prepared to wait a bit for it as they tend to order only when they have a minimum size order (for best prices, it's cheaper for them to order in 'bulk'). But they do pass the savings to you! ;). They can do setups/minor repairs for a nominal charge and have a luthier who regularly stops by to pick up/drop off guitars that needs more extensive repairs or work. The inside can be somewhat cramped as it's really stuffed with lots of products new and used in a rather small place. But it's worth the time to browse as you could find gems for a good price!

Bought 2 carbon fiber guitars here. I have known Dan since the 1980s. He has a lot of instruments, amps, ect. He has new and used music equipment and does some repairs. All the local musicians hang out there. Has some good deals as well. Has a large variety music equipment.

What does size have to do with one's business? Too Big - You can't find what you are looking for, plus you're just a number. If it's too small - again same old thing. BUT when the store is the PERFECT size, chances are you will find just what you're looking for and on top of that, Dan and his staff will even call you by your name. How will that make you feel? Sounds like an old mom and pop store by your house!!! Dan's Guitars is a Gem and one of its kind in All of Hawai'i and probably most parts of the Globe. Dan's database of knowledge totally explains why Dan is as Great at his craftsmanship playing music, as He is at his business, truely. Not to mention that his wife Christy, even has the same kind of passion for the business. If you have never been to Dan's Guitars, Go because if you love music as much as most people who Go to Dan's do, something is missing in Your Love for Music. Aloha!!! "Butch"

I didn't buy it this time, but it might be the most decent selection. Acoustic guitar has a wide range of royal roads by several, There are various US standards that Japan does not have. There are quite a few amps in places, and the effectors are also very particular. This is a store where you can buy something if you go there. I hesitated whether to buy Breedlove this time, but gave up because it is not popular in Japan.
