Best audio store I've been to! Great vintage gear and cool store. Kevin is a super guy, very knowledgeable and loves to talk audio. I've had 2 amps worked on there and wouldn't hesitate to recommended them to anyone. Seriously this is a place you need to see in person.

They installed a fairly expensive cartridge for me that I didn't feel comfortable installing myself. Turnaround was fast, and they dialed it in perfectly. Very fair price, too. Highly recommended. I'm thankful to have a place like this in Des Moines.

It’s great to have access to a place such as Skylabs in the Des Moines area. They gave me a generous price for my 1975 turntable that I was no longer using and counseled me on what updates I should make to my vintage speakers from the same era. The repairs were performed quickly and at a modest price. Now my beloved Altec speakers sound like new again. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

What an awesome place! I had some issues with my turntable with hoarse sounds and I didnt think it was tracking correctly. They evaluated my equipment and resolved my issue the very same day. Friendly people with an amazing showroom! Go in just to check out the store...its a cool place.

Skylabs is a phenomenal hidden gem in the Valley Junction neighborhood. The shop is absolutely brimming with immaculate equipment - turntables, receivers, and speakers spanning decades, truly original and beautifully restored console and cabinet style record player systems, and a super cool curated record collection to boot. Kevin helped us while we were in the shop, and despite being busy with a rush of customers, was attentive, very helpful, and friendly. He took time to inform, educate, and demonstrate products for us, letting us hear multiple records on the record player we were interested in. We went home as very happy customers with a new-to-us late 50's dual-cabinet Setchell Carlson console style record player in beautiful condition, and a little history lesson on when, where, and how this and a couple other record players were made. Kevin had personally restored ours to its original glory and added a few modern features to complement the existing system. I've personally never owned a record player or turntable of any kind, and thanks to Kevin thoroughly showing us how to run it in-store to make sure we had it down, I left with a firm understanding of how it operated. We felt like valued customers and appreciated the fantastic service.

We came in just to browse and left with a set of speakers. We have spent weeks looking for systems at expensive "high end" shops. We spent about 15 minutes here and left with quality speakers at a fraction of the cost of other stores. The salesman (possibly the owner) didn't try to push us into anything we didn't show interest in and made us feel like we were with a friend. He seemed to be more concerned with making us happy rather than making a sale. If we ever need any repairs or equipment we won't hesitate to return.

If old audio is your passion. This is the place. It needs to be a certain level to even get through the door. Then, it needs to be as perfect as it can be to go out the door. No junk, period. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable and down to earth and friendly.
