I love the customer service at this location! The young man with the glasses and long hair at the register and Connor are always knowledgeable, friendly, and suggest new innovative ways to use the equipment I have purchased there! Today, I spent $200 and they made me feel as though I spent 2M! Thank you both for the awesome customer service which is a rarity these days!

All the staff here have been very knowledgeable and have helped answer any questions I had when I would visit. The only reason it's not a 5 star review is the pro audio section. It is pretty messy, and most of the speakers and subs that they have on display aren't in stock. It is still extremely helpful for if you want to hear the specific model in person to compare though!

I've made several purchases at this location over the years, but the last few times I've shopped at this store the experience was so positive it really made an impression. The manager, James, has a really stellar crew who are friendly and always happy to help. No guitar snobbery here! Just good attitudes and excellent service. Also, a superb selection of guitars and gear - both new and used. If you're in the Midlands, you should always check here before going online. They don't call James "The Wizard" for nothing! GC Columbia is now my default shop for all things musical.

Purchased a 2021 Gibson Les Paul Standard 60's in beautiful Tri Burst on Saturday, April 23. Michael, Guitar Guru at the Columbia, SC location, was very helpful and assisted me with excellent Guitar knowledge. In fact, every associate I came in contact with had an excellent personality and was very helpful. I have been wanting that color in a Gibson since I saw it in 2006 on a Les Paul Custom at the Charleston, SC store. Fast-forward to today, last night I was trolling the net, as I always do and was trying to thwart my GAS, but to no avail. I was deciding on a Ibanez Artcore AG86-TRD-12-01 2006 Transparent Red on Reverb and a New ESP LTD EC 1000 Blue Fade w/Blue Poplar Top. An absolute stunning guitar ands stunning top as only ESP could provide!!! Cannot await the arrival of the EC 1000 and it's endless tonal possibilities and the form fitting case. No. 47 now in my arsenal! Thanks Michael and everyone at Columbia, SC Guitar Center. Go see them and Michael if you need any help in finding that "next" guitar. Because, "So many guitars, so little time"! I'll change the stock picture below to the actual guitar after it arrives.

They have so many nice guitars here and it was so cool to see all of them and even play around with them. Definitely would recommend checking it out sometime if you are interested in learning more about how to play the guitar or if you have experience.

Good customer service.But that was 3 months ago. Update: I thought setups on acoustic guitars were free. Spent almost a thousand but they did not have a tech, brought it back when they had one about 8 weeks later, was charged $72 for a setup which included new Elixirs. Spoke with the manager but he could not help me. There are many other places such as Sims Music to go to from here on out. I've come to realize that there is just service and then there is over the top customer service and keeping your business. I didn't have a problem with a free setup on the $600 Seagull I bought last year. Times change and so does where I shop unfortunately. Fairly friendly staff but not true customer oriented.

I love guitars, so I love this place. I build my guitars, so I come here for effects, strings, cables, parts, etc. The thing that got me into building guitars in the first place was the fact that Guitar Center's guitar tech was either backed up or unavailable, so one thing led to another... Anyway, hey I learned a new skill! The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and they have a decent selection of gear. They are cool enough to send you to a competitor if they know they can't help you. They've always treated me well, I probably go 3 or 4 times a month.

The customer service at this store is excellent. I had some difficulty with the corporate Guitar Center. I have had some excellent customer service and some terrible customer service from the corporate call center. In this situation I was told by the call center that they would make no concessions or discounts even after several issues with an order that was eventually cancelled. I called the Columbia store directly to discuss the issue. Even though it was not their fault they took care of me, even calling the regional manager to go above and beyond to take care of me. The store manager listened intently and did everything in his power to make my day. At the end he just said, "I want you to have the gear that makes you happy." He absolutely fulfilled that. I very much appreciate they way they look out for their customers at the store level and are willing to fix a customer's problem even if the issue is at the corporate level. They very much took care of me and now I have the guitar I have always dreamed of having.

The guitar department staff (Brian) and management are fantastic people. I got a Gibson SG standard (dream guitar) and noticed the pickups were a little off once i took it home. After coming back we all agreed and they gave me a goo discount. They were kind and cool and didnt make me feel stupid (like SIMS). Good people all around. Shop here.

Man the set up guy, Alex, is the guy. The set ups on 3 of my high end guitars was almost perfect. Jackson USA Select Soloist, Snow White, did a Gibson Standard Tobacco Burst HP, & a Jackson SLX Soloist Orange Crackle. Did a wonderful job, quick, professional, precise. Guys go get you a set up. They are handling the covid-19 situation very well. Each shopper is led into the store by an associate who helps him pick out the items he is in search of. The store has a pretty decent selection of drum supplies to include heads, sticks, cymbals, and hardware, but I cannot exactly speak to the other aspects. The service is always good and the employees are available. It's the only real option for a decent selection in the Cola area, but they don't disappoint.

If you looking for new or used instruments this is the place to go. They have a huge variety of musical instruments both new and used. Everybody there seems very helpful. The gentleman we talked to today took extra time to explain everything we needed to know about an instrument of which I knew nothing about. Of course that's what they should do but not everybody either take your time to do so when you going to their stores or really have a lot of knowledge about their own products.

I went in there looking for a harmonica just poking around, ended up talking to one of the salesman his name is Jojo, totally awesome dude, got into a really cool conversation ended up hanging out for a while he played a little on the guitar and it was really good let me listen to me play a little on the harmonica. Almost my second home lately. I've bought a bass, bass amp, 6-string electric, guitar amp, acoustic guitar, and a mandolin in the last couple of years. They've had all that I've needed at competitive prices. The location is a little tough to get to at times due to traffic, but it's worth the trip.

It's the Walmart of music stores. I hate to buy from here instead of a mom and pops places, but the prices are a little cheaper so I kind of have to. Instruments are very expensive and you can buy a Taylor 12 string acoustic electric for 700. The customer service sucks- not because they don't pay attention to your needs- Because it's fake... Used car salesman kind of fake. The employees pressure you into a protection plan every time. I've gotten good at saying no, but once it got so aggressive that I walked away from buying a Strat because they basically wouldn't let me buy it without the plan (Saved 200 on eBay that day). Guess there's not much we can do about it. They have the purchasing power to buy in bulk and that translates into a small savings for the consumer I guess. Edit: 03/17 I still believe everything I said is true, except the customer service. It looks like they're hiring more musicians these days, and that's a good thing. In fact the last 3 times I went in I had a REALLY good experience talking to employees about everything under the sun and that certainly changes the experience from the used car salesman type back to the for players by players feel that the stores used to have. I certainly hope that continues.

I've never had a bad experience here. Not even a mediocre experience. I'm a singer/songwriter, I play several instruments, and I play quite often around town. Nine times out of ten I'm stopping in because I need something for a gig that night and I'm in a hurry. There's always someone who knows what I need, where to find it, and fast. On top of the store staff being knowledgeable and friendly, if for some reason I have to call customer service, they're just as awesome. Highly recommend for all your music needs.

Excellent place. I was surprised to find that the prices are the same as Amazon or better. Plus i got to try out the guitar and loved it. Got a 400 dollar fender for almost half price. The guy (forgot his name coolest bald guy in the world lol )that helped me out was phenomenal. He found that a case came with a stand everything. I highly recommend checking out this store before buying anywhere else. And there a 45 no excuse warranty right from this store. Plus i got a 2 year no hidden fee warranty through them for 28.00 bucks. Thanks my friend

Folks at Guitar Center worked with me to find a guitar that I thought I wanted. However, the right one was hanging on the wall at the store the whole time. Instead of a used guitar, I now have a beautiful, new Gibson Les Paul model.

Not willing to give much for trade-ins at all and will find anything wrong with a piece you've got and nitpick you to death about it. Some pieces are reasonably priced, others they are waaaaay too proud of. Accessories and other things are a mixed bag the same as the products. Staff are VERY friendly and willing to help with just about anything (except unfortunately the aforementioned trades) All in it is what it is, a brightly painted hole in the wall that sells overpriced noisemakers in the back of nowhere, SC.

I'm 63 years old and have recently decided to try my hand at learning to play the guitar. I visited these guys at Guitar Center in Columbia a little over a year ago, and have bought a low end electric guitar, and nice amp and have bought recently, an acoustic guitar for my grand daughter, and just this past weekend, I bought an Acoustic Electric guitar from them. Each purchase was taken care of by a different rep, and all have been very pleasant experiences. The purchase, the information, the answers to my questions about the gear I bought etc... These guys know their stuff and the store itself is fantastic with the way it's laid out. I have visited the GC in Greenville a couple of times to buy cables and some strings. Nice store there as well, but they have the common items like strings, picks, cables straps ... behind a counter and you have to wait until a store rep is available to get what you are looking for. Then you have to ask to look at several items until you find something you like. ... I like the way Columbia has their store "Open". I can take my time with these items and check out the package information and decide on my time what kind of picks, capos, strings I want. The store is much more Customer Friendly. I LOVE THIS PLACE .. .Listen guys, y'all don't change a thing there. You can't get better than perfect !

I typically love Guitar Center. I have to admit this one is a disappointment. This is really a much smaller store than I am used to. I spoke to two different sales people. The first was about microphones. I was asking what they had for dynamic microphones so he took me to the case of condenser microphones. I asked the second guy about a vocal compressor/limiter/gate. He walked me over to a section and said yeah we are a small store. We don't have those. I look straight up to the overstock and saw 4 dbx 266 models right there. SMH...

I love Guitar Center, it's one of my favorite stores. There are so many different musical items there, it's amazing. I loved the guitar wall, the sound proof drumroom, the piano and microphone area, and the speakers and DJ area. I loved it so much that I came here to pick out a guitar for my birthday. I was having a little trouble deciding which guitar I wanted. So my father asked Maddie about the difference between the two guitars I had narrowed it down to and about what kind of guitar I should get. Maddie was super helpful and knew quite a bit about what we asked her about. She easily answered every question we asked her. Maddie explained to us the different uses for different brands of guitars and what brands different bands used. She definitely helped me pick out my guitar and the accessories to go with it, strings, amp cords, a distortion pedal, a shoulder strap, and a nice gig bag for it. Maddie was really kind and helpful and definitely was a huge help. We came back a couple of weeks after that and Maddie was working and she asked us about how I liked the guitar and told us about amps and which one would be the best to get. Overall, I had a great experience here and I am definitely coming back to get any other musical items I may need.

*This review is for Tyler, Texas GC* In and out in under half an hour and got exactly what I came for. The guys were friendly, professional and courteous, and Daniel checked out my purchase (shook the walls) before I paid. Got a fair trade-in value for my nuclear green Dean Custom Zone guitar applied to my purchase. I would definitely shop here in the future. I was able to park my 18 wheeler out back while I was inside (well, it was on a Sunday so there was nothing parked back there). Nice selection of instruments there in my opinion. Recommended.

This guitar center is loaded with instruments and material for musicians and artists alike. The store is very clean and well kept, and there are plenty of staff throughout the day. It was also very easy to find the different sections within the store, ie: guitars, production, DJ, live sound, drums, recording equipment...and so on. Checking out purchases were also quick transactions. I loved that mist of the workers were very knowledgeable in equipment and instruments. AJ was super helpful to me, as was James the customer service rep, along with Rebecca. The only real issue I had with the store is in reference to returning the rental equipment. I rented 2 QSC subs along with 2 12 Inch QSC speaker Tops to go along with its stands. The entire rental I will say was more than great in terms of price, definitely the best place for a DJ to rent some equipment. However, there is a VERY limited number of managers or supervisors with clearance to handle equipment returns on rentals, which can mean that if that individual is busy, you're likely to be kept waiting, no matter how helpful the others try to be. As a DJ and a musician, time isn't always on our side. If they can work on handling rental return customers a little quicker in that regard, they'd easily be 5 stars in my book. Thank you guys for all your help as a team to accommodate me for my brothers Wedding. Because of you guys it was a huge success.

A very friendly staff and a very well stocked smaller GC. The staff seemed really eager to help me pick something out and was able to get me a small amp at a fair price. Gone are the days of price haggling and getting steals on gear at GC. This store seems to stock a fair amount of gear in each perspective price range focusing on value friendly pieces rather that exotic pieces of gear. GC in general has changed into a really great place for newer players, but a not so great place for people looking for a vast selection of high end gear. This store Is worth checking out when you are in town, because you never know what used gems you will be able to find. Some of my best pieces of gear have come from guitar centers across the US. This store is a must see! 4 out of 5 due to the size of store.

Maybe a little too low pressure. I was greeted after a few minutes of helping myself to a guitar. I asked a question, gite an answer, but nobody seemed interested in a conversation that might lead to asking me to buy something. The two guitars I looked at both had either a missing /broken piece, but nobody came around again for me to ask about a fix or discount. I left unhindered and drove home to spend 750.00 on a fender telecaster from some store on Reverb. I would have rather taken one home that day.

I mean while great customer service is hard to find these days, being technically savvy is a MUST in this type of store. Especially for what you have to pay for equipment there. Three days ago, I ordered a pair of used Peavey speakers on Guitar Center's website. I noticed that the speakers were coming from a store that was not halfway around the world AFTER I paid for shipping, deciding after the fact that it would be much, much cheaper to drive out the store and pick the speakers up in person. I got in contact with the Pro Audio department at this location and spoke to an incredibly helpful guy named Ken, who understood what I was after and patiently helped me change my transaction, having the shipping charge removed and credited back to my account. Ken did everything same day, before Memorial Day weekend no less, being the most helpful Guitar Center employee I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Ken, you rock!

My boyfriends sister wanted to get me a ukelele for my birthday. I've wanted one for a few years now but haven't ever gotten a chance to play one. While there we were looking at them in the acoustic too. When a guy came in. He was very talkative and in our face. He was almost kind of annoying. He also wasnt very knowledgable about much. She told him her son just got this new guitar and the guy had no idea what it was then she pointed it out to him right behind where I was standing. Otherwise the place was nice and well kept. We got a few things and left.

Went there to buy a $650 bass and the Jay Morgan talked my into buying a cheaper and much better one for $450. I told him why I thought the Ibanez was perfect for what I needed but that I clearly did not like the finish. He put me into a Schecter and I can not be happier. Check it out yourself if you are looking for a beautiful instrument that plays like a dream. I appreciate Jay's experience and extra effort.

This Guitar Center is amazing. Every time we go in here the employees are super nice to us, especially Maddie. She's the best. I came here and got my daughter's first guitar, the Schecter Diamond Series, and Maddie was super helpful. She told us the different guitar varieties and which ones are used to play different kinds of music. She also helped us pick out a nice Mustang GT100 amp that my daughter loves. There is a great selection of guitars and guitar accessories to choose from. There's also microphones, keyboards, headphones, bass guitars, acoustic guitars, effect pedals for guitars, DJ systems, light systems, speakers, drum kits, and more. Also if you need an instrument repaired they have a great repair shop.

Shout out to Dillon and Josh maaan!!! Them boyz came thru. I bought the SE Electronic Space Vocal Shield and I did not know how to put that thang together. I was upset I paid all that money and I don't know how to put the darn shield together. No instructions or nothing!!! I was pissed!!! They didn't know how to either, until they figured it out!!! Now I'm cool!!! I'm not gonna splazzz out on SE Electronics about this product. I believe in it's quality!!! I just had a moment!!! Lol......... Ask for Dillon or Josh if you need help, they gotchu!!!
