Ken has by far the largest inventory of quality horns I've ever seen. He and his wife are very knowledgeable and engaging. They do outstanding repair/restoration work. If you're a serious horn player or even an enthusiastic amateur, if you're in the Boston area Ken's shop should be on your itinerary. You may well leave with a horn or at least an increase in your horn knowledge. 👍👍 PS I bought a great quality Lawson from him last.

We live in MA and bought my daughter's horn from Ken Pope when she started playing at 10. She is now 13 and loves to play studying privately and in her school organization. The shop is a literal horn museum and Ken was patient with her and us as we are far from knowledgeable. We bought an older horn he had refurbished and she has it still. She loves that there is history to her instrument even though parts are hard to come by. When a stopper broke and he could not find a piece to fit, he made one custom and did not charge us for it. New England horn parents, it is well worth the drive to the city whenever we come for service. He has turned it around that day for regular maintenance with an appointment. When it is time, we will certainly be in touch for her next horn and will continue to have her's serviced here.

I'm just an old, VERY amateur horn player, and I've been treated like a pro every time I've visited Ken's shop. I live a couple of hours away, and my schedule works best when I can leave my horn in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. Ken is super accommodating, and made it easy for me to get my horn serviced the same day. When I had an issue with one of my valves, I described it by email, Ken said bring it by, and he fixed it on the spot. Great service, and his shop is to die for. So many horns you'll think you're in horn heaven. Pope Repair is very highly regarded in the horn world, and my friends in the midwest are envious that I get to go there.

Just flew into Boston from Calgary Alberta yesterday with my son who is attending Berklee summer program. His trombone was slightly damaged enroute. Found Ken’s shop online and so happy we did. Ken fixed it on the spot and my son is good to go. Thank you Ken!

Unable to make a trip to the shop, I called to discuss a short list of horns from their website that I was considering for a one-week trial. Ken was extremely patient and helpful in discussing my candidates with me, along with pointing out another horn he felt should not be overlooked. The horn I settled on (as it turned out, the one I had overlooked) was shipped on the promised date, and I received it within a few days. In the end, it turned out being a perfect fit for me. Completing the buying process with Ken and Tess, including adding in a couple of cases I needed for both the new horn and a second instrument, was also a simple and pleasant experience. Happy to say I have my go-to location for my future horn needs.

I haven't visited or purchased from Pope, but this review is in regards to selling with them. I had an old French horn that I wanted to sell, and everyone at Pope was very helpful and friendly, and I enjoyed working with them. Their site had great tips and instructions for shipping the horn, and then they communicated well throughout the entire process. Their consignment fee was fair, and I'm grateful for their help to get that horn sold. Great establishment!

Unparalleled knowledge, selection, connections to MA schools and teachers, mastery at parts replacement, repair and (often, I suspect) fabrication. The only drawbacks are slight: a slightly odd schedule and slightly off-the-beaten-path store/gallery location in JP. But visiting is rewarding: Ken Pope & co. take time to help customers determine experience, goals, budget, and other factors that go into choosing a horn. There is absolutely never ever any pressure to buy or sign up for this or that promotion, and apparently limitless understanding of customers' various situations. Pope repair reigns.
