Reviews of Brandywine Museum of Art
Spencer Guth
This museum is a rare treasure. It has an excellent collection of local art, especially from the Wyeths, well-curated and displayed in a handsome building on lovely grounds. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The temporary exhibit was quite interesting, and of course I also enjoyed the charming model train display. The museum is the perfect size, neither too large nor too small, and you can comfortably see everything in a reasonable amount of time. To top it all off, the food from the museum cafe is surprisingly good. I’m always happy to make the trip.

A memorable and enriching experience. The Brandywine River Museum takes you on a journey into the art work of the Wyeth family and many other artists. This wonderful three story building has well over 1000 pieces of art displayed beautifully in large spacious and comfortable rooms that allows guest to truly enjoy their experience. There is staff available throughout the museum and are very cordial and polite. Currently the museum is showcasing self-taught artistist in America entitled Gatecrashers! Artist include the Wyeths, Grandma Moses, Norman Rockwell, John Kane, Horace Pippin and many more. The museum has a great gift shop that is stocked with books about the artists and the art movement. As well as, NC Wyeth illustrated copies of children's classics. There was also a nice little Cafe that provides drinks and lite snacks.
A truly magical place to come learn about the history and changes that took place in the American society and the art world.
John Duke
A beautiful example of converting an old building into a contemporary museum. I have visited twice in the past year and each time found new art to admire. There are spaces for quiet contemplation; honestly just looking at the building is a delight in itself. The docents are friendly and informative. The displays are rotated regularly so there is always something new to admire. The gift shop has a good selection of items at different price points and the cafe is lovely. If the weather is nice don't hesitate to stroll the grounds and even hike a little bit on the trails. The outdoor sculptures are a lot of fun.
Michal Curry
Another perfect day trip! One can spend hours enjoying some of the most magnificent artwork from the Wyeth family and other local, historic artists throughout the museum. Additionally, you can experience the impeccable outdoor landscape by walking along a designated pathway. My review concentrates on the café that is available beyond the gift shop whose walls are lined in top to bottom glass so the view of the Brandywine River and its “tubers” can be easily seen drifting down the waters edge. The café offers a small, but delicious, menu along with fresh coffee and other beverages. There is no cost to visit the café.

We took our grandchildren ( ages 8 and 13) to " Free first Sundays" which is an event they hold on the first Sunday of the month. You must register on line for this event. We saw the Wayne Thiebaud 100 +. So fun different crafts relating to the artist work on each level for the children. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a membership.
Vitaly Borisenko
Perfect local museum in a bucolic area. Driving to it on a rainy early spring day I understood why there is this particular mood in Wyeth's paintings. The views on the creek are just great. Nice cafeteria and giftshop.
Alicia Walker
The Brandywine Train display was awesome and interactive with buttons and pedals to move things and turn lights on and off. The victorian dollhouse was also great with a find it game for all to enjoy!
DC
There's always great exhibits there. My favorites were Wayne Thiebaud (visited a few weeks ago) and the children's book illustrators (from a few years back).
Bill Jenkins
I've been here several times over the years. Stopped in PA to visit Longwood Gardens and was driving by and decided to stop in to look at what paintings they have on display. I was pleasantly surprised that they have quite a few paintings on display. Although the paintings they do have are mostly Wyeth paintings of various family members spanning many generations, they also have a large display of landscape paintings by various artists. I enjoyed looking at Jamie Wyeth's paintings the best. He's very talented. I also appreciated the dark nature of Andrew Wyeth's paintings.
Ashli Brooke Wallace
Fabulous museum and is in a gorgeous setting. Cafe was absolutely delicious! Nice store as well and the cafe sells beer/wine too.
Levi Villagomez Jr
It was Free First Sunday by Peco. I definitely enjoyed it for being my first time here with my Daughter. They had several things to do with the kids that made it exciting. I would highly recommend coming here with your kids
Jim Shade
One of the best museums I've been to in a long time. Beautiful exhibits and location along the Brandywine River.
Michael Lidell
The Brandywine River Museum is a lovely setting for viewing paintings by N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth. They also feature works by other important American artists like Horace Pippin.
Joanne T. Trombley
Relaxing place to visit. Was surprised and delighted with a dance show celebrating assorted regions of Mexico. It was up front and personal.
Anne Pierce
Grandkids 8 & 4 loved it. Train area needs a structured enter/ exit spot, kept bucking traffic and everyone was doing the same thing. Bug exhibit was strange, more like someone's old art project. All the boxes were glass covered, why did guards need to stand by to keep telling kids not to touch? If you are going to display bugs make it interesting, seemed more confusing.
Barb Hauck-Mah (barbhmphilly)
Highly recommend visiting the museum and strolling the garden and Brandywine River trails. We knew a little about NC and Andrew Wyeth before visiting, but did not know about the rich painting heritage of generations of the Wyeth family. The museum offers a great selection of paintings celebrating Brandywine painting and the area. We enjoyed discovering the scultpures tucked around the grounds.

I had a great experience at this museum this past Sunday. First of all it's in a beautiful location. Each floor has a big glass window overlooking the river. The art was great. The exhibit there now, Fragile Earth was amazing. They also had a cute little Cafe and gift shop. I've lived in this area my whole life and hadn't been here since I was a little girl. If you are thinking about going, just go.
Scott Lentz
Super museum! Nice collection of Wyeth art. Interesting exhibitions of "Fragile Earth" Love the outdoor art near the river.
Lisa Haynes
I got an education on one of America’s most prolific art-creating families, the Wyeths. The special “Gatecrashers” exhibit was worth the trip as well.
Val Sewell
Enjoyed the Wyeth exhibits. Did not realize the generations of talent in the family. Also found the Howard Pyle exhibit interesting. Beautiful grounds with fun statuary.
Michelle Pappas
Went tubing . Had a pretty good time at 1st but it took 7 1/2 hrs to get down the river . Best time to go s after it rains . They told us 4-6 hours. Our fault for not going at the right time checked out around the outside of the museum was really kept well landscaped . All in all just wish we were more prepared for a long day on the very low river. But still fun..
Russell Wallace
Amazing display of artworks, some by very famous artists and illustrators including paintings of four of the Wyeth's, Norman Rockwell, and Grandma Moses. Museum is located in a stunningly pretty setting in and old mill along the Brandywine River. We loved it.
Dustbunny
The museum itself is lovely. I wasn't super impressed with the lighting in the fragile earth display. It made the art pieces hard to see through the glass. I also think they should consider putting some sort of policy in place regarding kids. Not to keep them out, but regarding parental control. Nothing spoils a museum visit like kids pushing in front of you and parents letting them do it or doing it with them. All things considered, I love the museum and hopefully next time I'll be able to enjoy it more.
Myndi Smithers
Wonderful Andrew Wyeth exhibit. Really interesting installation by several artists using ecology and the environment for inspiration.
Lots of stuff for kids/ Christmas. The train set up was Awesome.
So glad we went.
jan achenbach
The right size for an afternoon. During the holiday season there is a model train exhibit. Many of the paintings are by the illustrator N.C. Wyeth and his students. Beautiful and bold. Captivating for adults and children. Also provides a historical perspective of Chadds Ford.
Victoria Cannalongo
I love Brandywine River Museum! Ticket price is fair, cafe had a nice mushroom soup.
The art is absolutely breath taking. I keep coming back because of how beautiful it always is. When they have guest exhibits, those are also beautiful as well.
Speedy
The Brandywine Railroad experience is not to be missed. It's the perfect way to start the holiday season for the whole family. Take a walk on the scenic Brandywine Trail after a lunch of the delicious mushroom quiche in the cafe.
Estella Clifford
Saw the excellent Fragile Earth exhibition, Andrew & N.C. Wyeth exhibit, model trains, and a separate exhibit of works by Wyeth relatives.
Kathie Pierson
Spend a day in beauty & splendor @ the Brandywine River Museum. I love standing in greatness, this is what I experience when I go there.
They also offer great food @ the Cafe for reasonable prices. This place feeds your heart & your belly in fabulous style!
Sachin Bhatnagar
I loved it. Amazing collection of paintings. Beautiful river front. We have spent around 2-3 hours. The museum has their own cafeteria which closes at 3 PM. Anyone can get free passes from local libraries. Worth a visit.
Jen Boyer
We visited last week to see their special exhibits - Votes for women & photography from the Selma civil rights march. Both exhibits were terrific. It was so interesting to see those pieces of history. The rest of the museum featured paintings by various artists in the Wyeth family. This is a smaller museum so we went thru all the exhibits in about 2 hours. There's a nice little gift shop, a cafe and the Brandywine Creek runs right behind the museum with a walking trail. I'd definitely recommend this museum!
Hirofumi Ando
Good atmosphere. We spent a good time seeing the Wyeth family’s paints. We must aware that the most famous piece of Andrew Wyeth, the world of Cristina, is in the collection of MOMA, NY. But still, the collection of this museum is favorable.
The cafe is open. Though not all of the menu is available, including the kid's menu, we are very satisfied with the taste. We spent 30 dollars and enough volume for two adults and two kids.
William West Hopper (DC Car Guy)
A true treasure. Great exhibits in a wonderfully restore Pennsylvania mill. I have been going since it opened in the early 1970s and will be returning soon to go on the Wyeth Studio Tour.
Theresa Kopishke
This was wonderful and we were able to catch the Women's Suffrage exhibit before it was gone. The Wyeth family paintings are lovely and the setting along the Brandywine River is just lovely. Well worth the $18 admission (virtual timed ticket for Covid-19 purposes) and will definitely be back for the holiday train display.
Kevin Lyons
Good art museum featuring work and culture of Andrew Wyeth and his father N C. The building is an attraction itself as a full glass side follows the winding course of the Brandywine Creek. There is a small gallery of works owned by the Wyeth's by other artists, eg Norman Rockwell.
Jeffrey Clancy
Great regional art museum with important works of American history / culture via Wyeth, outsider artist, etc and contemporary exhibitions. Also, situated in beautiful location.
Guillermo Loubriel
I agree with other reviewers because I felt that there were to few paintings by the Wyeths. The entrance fee is $18 for adults. That compares to $25 at Longwood Gardens. At the former you can spend one hour and at the latter 3 hours minimum. But the views of the river (from the museum) are great.
Nancy Unger
Beautiful artwork by 3 generations of Wyeths. Loved having lunch in the cafe overlooking the Brandywine River. The museum shop was delightful.
Theo Ciba
This has been a great place to relax and appreciate the arts and take in various Wyeth exhibits spanning multiple generations.
As part of this, we took a separate tour of the Keurner Farm. According to historical writings, this location was an inspiration to artist Andrew Wyeth, whose artistry was derived from the locale. The tour guide was very friendly, and they were very conversant of the farm's history. Honestly, they took you back to a time and place when the Wyeth family derived their inspiration. If you've seen the Wyeth work, you can feel the influence of their style while walking the grounds.
Jane Jing
Wonderful museum to visit! Along the brandywine creek, the museum beautifully situated. There are permanent collections from Andrew Wyeth and his family members. There are also two exhibitions including Winslow Homer. Personally I really really like the portrait of Betsy James Wyeth who is Andrew Wyeth’s wife. I love the composition, the color, the facial expression of painting. Also the Andy Warhol portrait is very interesting too. I also like some the landscapes paintings by William T. Richards.
Credible Critic
A small museum featuring the works of three generations of the Wyeth family. The collection is very extensive, showcasing the illustration style of art that the Wyeths are known for.
Beautiful layout, one can go through the permanent exhibit in three floors with ease. Special exhibit in the same style is quite good and well presented.
The museum is situated along the bank of the Brandywine river, gives it an airy feel. A family can spend a few hours here very easily. Children can burn off their energy by running around on its ground.
Staff is knowledgeable and attentive. A must see in the area.
Naomi Sonne
Fragile Earth exhibit was incredible. The usual displays are also always worth a visit, especially the Christmas trees and ornaments and train.
Marlin Sheesley
Have loved the Brandywine Museum since my first visit back in the 80’s. Been there many times, but my visit in Dec. this year was spectacular. The Christmas train setup on the second level was fantastic. The Wyeth family paintings on display were great too. Spent a very special afternoon their on the Brandywine on a quiet winter afternoon.
Kelley Zamzow
Stories with the artwork were great and the train room was really cool! Small cafe and gift shop as well. Fun outdoor space on the river as well.
Edward McGrath
Went to see the trains with my grandson we loved it he didn't care for the art work he just wanted to see the trains.
Chris Thompson
A local gem for its collection of generations of Brandywine movement pieces. Lovely for the Christmas decorations and displays at the right time of year. Views of the river -- or is it Creek? -- from this third floor are wonderful.
Marcus Van Gorden
Nice museum, set in a beautiful location! Photography and even sketching is allowed and your ticket is good for two days! Three generations of the Wyeth families art as well as many other artists.
If the weather is nice take a chance to walk some of the trails along the Brandywine river. Beautiful setting for the museum.
The gift shop sells prints of the art as actually affordable prices, as well as a wide variety of books.
kathy hunt
Really enjoyed this place. They had a very intricate railroad display. We spent a lot of time discovering the many different aspects of the it and speaking with the very knowledgeable volunteers willing to share information with us. They also had 3 Christmas trees displaying themed ornaments. One was all natural woodland creatures, another one was famous characters, and the 3rd was teddy bears. All the ornaments on all three trees were made from natural materials. The Wyeth art work was stunning and we learned a lot about the very tallented family. There were sculptures and a walking path outside but it was raining the day we went. Definitely worth visiting.
Frank DeAngelis
Beautiful facility in a gorgeous setting. Very modern building with lots of great art from the region. The place was almost empty on this Saturday morning and we had a guide all to ourselves. Just like a private tour.
Diana Montgomery
Love this museum! Big enough to host engaging exhibits but not so big it's exhausting. Added bonus is the surrounding open space with hiking trails you can make use of after visiting the museum. The on-site restaurant has limited offerings but the food is really good, portions generous and prices reasonable. (Unusual for a museum sit-down dinning room.) Restaurant also has nice views of the Brandywine Creek. Triple A members can get two-for-one tickets, but that isn't mentioned on the website. Less than an hour from Philly and close to West Chester, which has a nice little downtown that's worth checking out. They had to do a lot of recovery work after flooding from hurricane Ida and could use your support.
Jonna M
Super museum. Beautiful grounds. I really enjoyed learning about the Wyeth family and viewing their works. I appreciated that the museum wasn't crowded and the atmosphere was peaceful and quiet.
David G
It was good. No complaints. Not that large of a collection. A couple hours of viewing and a nice lunch. I bet the view of the river is quite pretty during the summer.
K Grawe
This museum is definitely worth seeing and its setting on the Brandywine River is very lovely and peaceful. The grounds are very beautifully landscaped with perennials. I throughly enjoyed all three tours: The N.C. Wyeth House & Studio Tour, The Andrew Wyeth Studio Tour, and also The Kuerner Farm Tour. The incredible preservation of the buildings, the grounds, and the studios is quite special. I was there during Mother’s Day weekend in 2016 and they were having a very impressive wildflower, native plant & seed sale which had an incredible variety of perennials. The Wyeth family is quite interesting to learn about.
Spam
A beautiful museum in a scenic location. Definitely worth visiting, if you're in the area. Got in for very cheap with my student ID. Lots of great pieces on display, however, two of the three floors seem dedicated to the works of the Wyeth Family, so don't expect a ton of diversity.
Pam Stewart
It was a wonderful experience for a nature lover who is also an art lover. So glad that I discovered this place.🥰
Rachel Nikki Weigel
Overall it was interesting to see but, it really just felt like a place for an old family's art to be displayed. The history is somewhat interesting.
Bryan Kennedy
Even after a devastating flood they're open. Wayne Thiebalud is here, which makes it twice as good. They have timed tickets, but we got in same day. The grounds are also fabulous.
Kyle D
It’s a fun stop off for an hour or two - $20/pp. Nice to have a walk along the river and people watch too. July 2021

Nice museum examining the art of the Wyeth family as well as other artists in special installations...well worth a visit!
T Clark
Nice small museum, focused on the Wyeth family. Located on Brandywine Creek adds to a lovely day out. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Marcia V. Ormsby
One of the best Museums I’ve visited. It is artfully designed with curved floor to ceiling windows facing the river. The art here is breathtakingly beautiful, more to take in than the day would allow. Their cafe is small but exquisite; the spring garden sale is not to be missed for not only great prices, but for locally grown botanical specimens. Can’t say enough good about this place!
Cheryl Bishkoff
A tiny gem. The permanent collection is small but carefully and thoughtfully arranged. The tour to the house and studio was a big bonus. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I'll be back!
Chip Slanina
It's not Christmas until you see the model trains and decorated trees at the Brandywine River Museum. We go every year. BONUS - the cafe is excellent too.
Harvey Mains
Fantastic display of the Wyeth family art. Impressive collection of Andrew and N. C. Wyeth art with a smattering of artworks by other family members. Also hidden away, you will find works by Weymouth and his contemporaries. Plan to spend several hours. There are seating areas for contemplation and great views of the Brandywine Creek.
Bolling Willse Sr
Every year, we make our pilgrimage to the "Wyeth" museum... to see the handmade ornaments. Everyone should visit N. C. Wyeth, at least annually!
Natalie Lesueur
Glad the museum rebounded after flood. Even though I came for Andrew W, Jamie's work in the collection was an even better surprise with a jolly twinkle of humor. Great landscapes, Hudson River school inspiring.
Raccoon Nerd
Excellent collection of local art, very exciting display of famed art for vintage adventure serials. A nice way to spend and afternoon
Michael O'Reirdan
I’m not really an art person but this museum is a gem. From the collection to the building to the location, it is gorgeous and well worth a visit.
Jeffrey Rollison
My 3 year old grandson loved the trains. Not so much the art 😃. My wife as nd I enjoyed it however. …
Bruce Chaput
Great museum with interesting and unique art. If you have time, the studio tours are well worth doing.
Brittany Almeta Calhoun
Great place to visit if you are a real American art/ Wyeth family fan! The grounds are scerine with the most beautiful butterflies, bees, and plants surrounding the gardens and rive trails. I also admire their Horrace Pippin collection! Amazingly unique gift shope with featuring PA artisans. This museum now closes at 4:30PM.
Vincent Nocito
Nice small art museum featuring work by the Wyeth family.
Kateryna Hlynchuk
Visited with my 10 month baby and had a great time. It’s a quiet, relaxed and beautiful place. The staff is very professional and courteous too. Enjoyed having lunch in the cafeteria which has full height glass wall overlooking the garden and river outside.
Jessica Sorcek
Great exhibits and super intricate model train and scenery around Christmas time that they've been doing for 50 years
Alessia Carangella
Beautiful quiet museum. Beautiful store too. The nature around it is so peaceful! Loved it
R Arch (Rarch)
Love this little gem of a museum! We went on the first Sunday of the month, which offered free admission thanks to the generosity of Peco. They had wonderful kids activities for kids under 12. The food in their charming cafe was excellent, with a beautiful view of the river. The walls of the cafe are entirely glass. Plus, the cafe serves wine! Such an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
Rebecca “Moss” Brannon
Nice building, grounds, and exhibit. The entryway is a tripping-hazard lawsuit waiting to happen. Bathroom needed on the first floor.
Lou Beach
Terrific museum with a light fare cafe overlooking a meandering river.
Shirley Mowery
We loved everything about this Mueum! The property is beautiful as is the Museum itself. It is wonderful for all ages. It is clean, well organized and staffed well.
Marcus Austin
Beautiful exhibits of nature. Family enjoyed it all, but especially the train display.
Marcos Borges
Great place. Will return every year with the little one
Aynesley Arthur
Their seasonal train display is phenomenal and the kids were mesmerized! This is a great spot for the young, the old, and all those in between.
tina schmutz
Had a great experience and the staff are super friendly and helpful :) plan on coming back in the fall to look out at the river and walk the trail along the side
Laurie Arshonsky
A big surprise! Loved the Andrew Wyeth watercolors and illustrations of N.C. Wyeth. The Andrew Wyeth Studio tour made the experience more meaningful! Really wonderful gift shop! Staff were so darling and helpful!
FallCarrot6813
It was nice place amazing stories and amazing art. But there's always a but I didn't appreciate being followed by security. It made really uncomfortable she watched everything thing I did.. I guess I looked shady or something she followed me everywhere I went even to the damn bathroom. I come out of there she standing at end of hall staring me. I should have photograph her following me. Out of everyone there why me and I'm probably the only there with an actual degree and professional art career. If that security women didn't ruin my experience I would give this place a perfect five stars.
Saurabh Shah
Excellent small art museum. Raulston Crawford special exhibit was superb. Large Wyeth collection. Museum easy to navigate
Caroline Griffith
This is such a great piece history in our backyard. This it is a perfect museum for families, while the kiddos may not understand all the art it is a great size without feeling too big or too small. This time of year is especially awesome with the railroad display which is cool for kids from 1 to 92. They have little viewing areas for kiddos to stand as well as interactive elements. If you live in the general vicinity and have never been then I suggest you add it to your list. The staff is awesome, they are visible, very knowledgeable and just want you to enjoy the time you spend with them. Reasonably priced and well worth your time.
Paul Mulle
Always a favorite. Trains great and Fragile Earth exhibit special! Good food nearby at Terra. Something restaurant...
Bruce Nigro
N8ce size museum, not overwhelming. Features Andrew Wyeth, his father and 1 of his sons. Good explanations. Could spend couple hours here as there are grounds to walk around and can walk along river a bit. One wall floor to ceiling glass with views of river. Nie cafeteria 2ith a view. Paid senior rate.
Jody Stuart
Our visit was on the first Sunday of the month, so it was free. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the galleries and had a tasty lunch in the Cafe.
Marianne J
Wyeth and other Brandywine artists are displayed in galleries on three floors. The current exhibit is introduced by a ceiling to floor mural. Signs displayed throughout the exhibit provide background and insight. Very interesting and enjoyable.
Martin Holahan
Xmas train layout is superb.
Artwork is a must see...
More than once.
Shi H
Beautiful paintings to enjoy in a setting not crowded and un hurried, truly brings back Americana and Brandywine River valley even during Covid time. It’s a gem.
Harvey Glick
Amazing variety of paintings there. I appreciated the snippet of info for each painting. Nice atmospheres.
Andrew Filshill
They put on a great burns night supper and scotch tasting. Will try to make it back to this next year.
Celia Payen
The Wyeth exhibit is beautiful, just for this room, I highly recommend visiting the museum. The views on the rivers are breathtaking and I enjoyed just sitting on the chairs near the windows.
Kimberlee Ballenger

Judy Gustafson
Historical information that was so interesting! Local artists, including Wyeth! Rustic and beautiful setting!
David Newman
Took the family and grandson to see the train setup. It was very good
Greg Lloyd
This is a peaceful place in a pastoral setting. A retreat from daily life and a chance to use a part of your brain that you don't normally use to think, ponder, and reflect.
Jurassic Jordan
Great place inside and out. Always different types of events inside and the outside has a nice small nature trail that connects to a bigger trail under the bridge. Place gets pretty busy during the summer due to people loading in to go tubing so go early.
Willard Preston
I had a very rewarding day visiting both the museum and Longwood Gardens a few miles away.
The museum exhibited works of N.C.Wyeth, (father of Andrew). His illustrations graced first editions of Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe and many others. And periodicals. And adverts.
We followed with a visit to Longwood Gardens, over 1,000 acres of woodlands, meadows, and horticulture that just doesn't quit.
Visit both, the Brandywine Creek Valley is beautiful.
bugzigus
The trains exhibit during the holiday season is always my favorite.
STUART WEINER
Always interesting, always a treat to visit. Fabulous collection. Home of the Wyeths.
Paul Hollerbach
Wyeth family delights, 'nuff said. Revel in splendid paintings in a cozy museum.

Really good pictures and place.
Mary Ann Miceri-Kusenda
Wonderful river walk and art museum.
Kyra Lawrence
This museum never disappoints. I try to go every year at least once. Always new featured artists. The Wyeth clan art is beautifully displayed. Notes on each piece are insightful making the experience more fulfilling. Christmas here is always special with the 'train' room set up to everyone's delight.
Mary D Swartz
Loved the Wyeth exhibit & the trains! So much fun to look at!
Raymond Rival
Very nice
Joseph Waldo
Great small museum with an interesting collection. And the grounds along the Brandywine Creek are beautiful.
Anna Solyarik
Came here as a couple on a whim on our way back home from a trip and couldn't have been more impressed by the extensive collection of american art and the history behind the Wyeth family! Learned a lot and became very inspired by the beauitful artistry exhibited in the masterpieces they house. There were two exhibits that were closed so they offered discounted admission but we still found plenty to look at and cant wait to come back to see more when the other galleries/exhibitions open back up.
Hilary Halliwell
3 story museum of local artists, particularly N.C., Andrew, and Jaime Wyeth. Admission is free on family Sundays.
Gerald Scupp
A gem of a museum with thoughtful curation. I go a couple times a year and it always seems new.
Jalessa
Beautiful collections on display. Perfect for a date or family outing. Many photos included detailed stories about their origin and artists. My favorite was the display of children's portraits
Lynne Tracey
One of my personal all time favorite museums. Not only are the Wythes well represented, not only is there a delightful collection of landscape favored American painters but the setting is rustic, peaceful and intimate.
Sharon Pflug
Amazing work by the entire Wyeth family on view. Beautiful grounds to walk near the river.
Susan McCarty
I didn't visit the museum, frankly I thought the cost of admission was high for the size. I like the nature, the landscape, the trails.
David Godfrey
Really need two days to enjoy longwoods garden. A fantastic fountains show, flowers, Brandywine River.
James Fowler
Enjoyed our visit on a quiet Sunday morning
The Wyeth family's talent is apparent and the details in the illustrations is amazing.
I would recommend the Holiday model train display it's a great spot for young families.
Judy S
I've been here several times before and love seeing the Wyeth art up close. Today we stopped in to buy a few things at the store. The ladies are so helpful and kind. Lots of items to choose from.
Chris Rouleau
The museum offers some wonderful pieces from artists that lived in the area.
Lisa Gillespie
A museum at a human scale - just the right size to take in well-curated themes of the Wyeth family works and other featured artist of the period.
The historic building itself is a delight, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Brandywine river. Well-placed sitting areas invite reflection between exhibits. The bright and airy cafe serves very tasty food. - some menu items feature local Kenneth Sq. mushrooms. The sculpture garden on the grounds provides an outdoor break.
All together a wonderful experience.
James Moyer
The handmade natural ornaments are truly unique and worth a trip to see!
Kerl Nicklows
I really couldn't believe this place. Beautiful. This pandemic time is the time to go and see museums. My mother-in-law and I practically had the place to ourselves. We got a nice lunch at the restaurant there, with a window seat overlooking the Brandywine River. Completely peaceful. We were a little short on time, but the masterpieces we saw were stunning. I had no idea until I wandered in the door. I will be back.
Ann Durante Ransford
Went for the train display and enjoyed the entire museum.
Jean Toman
Great holiday visit. As usual, trains lots of fun! And great critters this year, too.
Cynthia Doughty
We enjoyed the women in history program. The place is beautiful.

Lovely museum in a beautiful setting. Several generations of Wyeth art, and interesting special exhibits that change throughout the year and are well curated. My 3 year old granddaughter and I hiked along the Harvey Run trail, which is maintained by related Brandywine Conservancy. We saw the current "Cinderella and Company -- Three Fairy Tales Reimagined" exhibit. She liked the illustrations because she knew the stories, and always likes to see the outdoor sculptures. The cafe has very nice snacks and lunches. The museum and grounds are a great place to spend a few hours.
Boris A. Borovoy
Sufficient and bright collection of American Art, mainly Realistic. Must see by any Art History lover. The Museum itself is quaint and charming. Especially at lazy Sunday afternoon.
Jack Van Antwerp
Gorgeous building and grounds. The Wyeth show was so memorable.
Jennifer Maguire
I love this museum. It's in a beautiful setting, and their exhibitions are always thoughtfully and expertly done. Very accessible and friendly for children--don't forget to check out the outdoor spaces, as well. The Brandywine River is the amazing, beautiful-in-every-season, backdrop to this collection of works by the Wyeth family and more.
Mary J Connelly
Andrew Wyeth art collection on display thru Sep 2017. I was so impressed by this artists' work. Truly impressionable. Brandywine Art Musuem is a place to visit!
Marcia Meikrantz
The Brandywine River Museum is always a wonderful, relaxing experience for me, and I always enjoy their special exhibits. The past three years have been a great way to become familiarized with all three generations of Wyeth painters. This museum has nice amenities, is limited in scope, and does an excellent job of displaying the works (frame choices, narratives, groupings).
Serge L Chauvin
Outside France I love this museum best. The site is a beautiful setting to breathe in nature. Though I can no longer kayak I loved seeing kayakers and rafters enjoying the clear waters. The art of NC Wyeth was displayed with captivating commentary about his literary and commercial illustrations and the paintings executed during his later years. It's a must see.
Francine Sorock
Generations of Wyeth artists. Utterly magnificent. Museum and homesite curated beautifully. I loved their art before and now understand even better.
Laurence Lucker
Wide range of great artwork appropriate to the area and special exhibits. Beautiful facility with panoramic views of the river and nice cafe and shop.
Rosanne S
Be sure to add tour of Wyeth studio and home..opening April 1, 2022. This museum is excellent and in beautiful setting along creek.
Nancy Jones
A beautiful respite from a hectic world. Lovely art , great gift shop and good food in the Cafe. First Sunday’s are free!
Jamie Grace-Duff
Lovely scenic location for a museum. Collection is small but packed full of wonderful pieces. Access to historic Wyeth family studios, homes, with tours and classes available. Or, just wander the river path nearby and enjoy some quiet under the trees.
Patrick Durek
The Wyatt exhibits (three generations) are marvelous. There are quite a few paintings to peruse--and each of the Wyatts has a unique style--so give yourself a couple hours. There are even tours of the Wyatt studios (for an extra fee).
Timothy Bowen
I'm not really one for the whole "art experience" thing but this place has a lovely atmosphere that really helps get you into the mood for it. I'd say the brunt of the artwork here is Wyeth family, but that's ok, I mean, to me it's all the same.
My fiance who is clearly much more refined than I has an art history degree on top of her medical doctorate, and seemed to really enjoy the art here. I'll take her word for it.
There you go, you just got a double-review-in-one. That's like 10 stars or something; I dunno I'm bad at math, too.
BRO ACT
Well worth seeing and driving 100 miles out of our way to see. Special surprise was the cafe’s menu items. What a treat we had for lunch and allowed for a long time to enjoy the pieces on display
Tim Styer
One of my favorite places in the universe.
Odamis Fernandez-Sheinbaum
This was my first time visiting here. The pieces are mostly American Post Modern by the Wyeth and McCoy family. Children will enjoy the model trains and doll house. Current winter exhibit includes Christmas Trees decorated with creatures created by volunteers using materials found in nature. The grounds next to the Brandywine River offer a great walk along a trail the follows the river.
Charles W.
Haven't been here for decades. In fact, probably over 40 years. I realize now that I must have originally come to the Brandywine River Museum shortly after it opened in 1971, when I was in elementary school. We brought my son here as part of the Boy Scout Art merit badge. It was great. So many spectacular paintings from the Wyeth family, and others. I'd highly recommend it as a great place to bring the family. They also have a nice gift shop and our son got a small print of one of the paintings we really liked. They also give AAA discounts. Great job, Brandywine River Museum!
Joseph Small
The Brandywine River Museum of Art is a wonderful series of exhibit spaces overlooking the river outside of Philadelphia. The collection of works are unlike any other in the world, with works from many talented artists - as well as over 470+ works from the Wyeth family. As a fan of the Wyeth family's art, we are incredibly lucky as Pennsylvanians to have this collection in our state. See you again in 2021!
MC Deschaine
Beautiful setting, relaxing museum. You have time to really take in the works on display.
Richard Hanson
I am very glad that we drove 5 hours leaving at 12:30am from Rhode Island to avoid traffic. It's a fantastic, Museum that features the art of the Wyeth's. I am a huge fan of their work. I do wish there was more art from N.C. Wyeth. It's a smaller size Museum but worth the trip if you are a Wyeth fan. The house and the farm farm were still closed for the season so, we didn't get to see those, perhaps next time.
Rick Kocher
We took our 1.5 year old son here on a family outing, and it was a nice visit. My son really loved the train exhibit, and it was really well done. The other parts of the museum were nice but not for a Toddler. There was lots of open space for him to walk around, and if it wasn't so cold there was a nice trail that we could have walked on.
Nice place to visit, and if you have one of those entertainment books you can get a ticket for free!
Carla Katz
This museum is beautiful as it's a converted grist mill with a panoramic view overlooking the Brandywine River and hosts the Wyeth collections. Start with a guided tour and enjoy the cafe and gift shop. What a wonderful way to spend your day! I discovered it one sunny day and became a member before my departure.
David Deaugustine
Very nice place. Nice museum and a lot of local flair. Nice lunch spot and can walk some of the grounds and sit by the river. Good day trip.
Jared Wilson
To be honest with you, I stopped there while I was driving by on my motorcycle. I needed a little time to stretch my legs, so what I did was hike the trail that goes along the Brandywine River behind and north of the Brandywine River Museum. The museum itself does look very nice on the outside. I did not go inside so I can't comment on anything about the interior. The hike along the path along the Brandywine River was a very nice, relaxing hike. There were lots of people out there that day, and everyone seemed to be having great time. Some people were recreating on the water, others were hiking the path, and some were just out there to picnic, cook food on the grill, and listen to music. It's a nice place to check out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Ian Wood
Lovely museum set in beautiful surroundings! Easy to get to with lots of parking.
David Kyle
One of my favorite places on the earth. If you are a fan of Andrew Wyeth and his family of artists, this is a must for you to visit. They have a wonderful collection of work from 3 generations of Wyeth's as well a terrific rotation of exhibitions throughout the year. I've been visiting this Museum for almost 40 years and it never ceased to amaze me.
William Nerenberg
Nice location, building, shop and site. The art does not quite live up to the premises. The Wyeth family established this area as an art "Mecca", but some of their work, particularly that of the third generation, Jamie, is not as good as his father and grandfather. Still, with its sweeping views.of the lovely Brandywine River, it's a nice few hour visit if you've already seen the Philadelphia Art, the Barnes and the Rodin museums. Philadelphia is a great city, but Brandywine is still a suburb.
Dan DaMan
Very nice paintings, overtly informatative.
only paid $6 because of college discount otherwise I never would have gone as all info and paintings can be found online somewhere.
I't will be some time before I understand the money to be maid these days with art.
The rest is gibberish for the purpose of easy google points hehehe 😂;

Bonnie Gusland
Great Art museum! Wonderful Cafe With great food
Jeffrey Miller
I've been coming to the Brandywine River Museum since I was a kid and just brought my own kid to it. Great assortment of work by local artists and jaw dropping model train display that any kid (or adult) will be blown away by. The gift shop is quite fun, too.
Jim McHugh
One of the best collections of American illustration anywhere! A beautiful museum in which you can spend a few hours or an entire day. The gardens and sculptures outside are great for visiting in warm weather. Check out the cafe for a tasty lunch!
Tony DePrima
There for model train christmas display. Beautiful.
Ed Preisendanz
Great place to view Andrew, N.C, and Jamie Wyeth paintings. The museum also has special exhibits. Great gift shop that has a lot of books about the Wyeth artists and copies if the art work. Well worth a stop.
Sharon Esterly
Best Christmas display of trains and Christmas trees full of "Critters." The art exhibits draw and inspire people from all over the world. River Walk is great all year. Museum shop continues to offer unique gifts, and member events entertain and educate all ages. Lucky to have this special museum in Chester County!
Allison Classen
Gorgeous venue. First time I've been back in over a decade and was so happy to see how well maintained the grounds and building were. Can't wait to get married here this Fall!! This museum hold a very special place in my family's heart.
Louan Christensen
We had two hours and this Museum was a priority. Haven't lived in Delaware County for nearly 30 years and we have so many fun memories of this museum from Den Den to chestnuts roasted on an open fire.
Nonso Umunna
Great museum with N. C Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, Carolyn Wyeth etc works. You can also get tours of the Wyeths studio and places that inspired some of their art works. It's also located in the scenic and beautiful Brandywine area and close to the river. Lovely museum. Highly recommended.
Ashley Sundquist
This local museum is just outside of Philadelphia and well-worth the trip. My grandmother has been a member since the 1970s, so we enjoyed a Sunday afternoon together.
The Brandywine River Museum of Art is a beautiful example of repurposing a historic structure for modern purposes. Visitors can experience works of art from American folk art legends, including Andrew Wyeth, N.C. Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth.
The Brandywine River meanders quietly alongside the restored barn-turned-museum and there are wildflowers to enjoy along the bank. It's a beautiful place to go for a walk in Chadds Ford.
One of my favorite pieces is "Portrait of Pig" by Jamie Wyeth in 1970.
Elissa Outtrim
Excellent museum holding many memories for me of visits with my late father, a Philadelphia College of Art trained illustrator and watercolor artist, who introduced me to the wonders of great illustration. Equally important to me were the many visits here with my late husband, and our girls, to view the collections, meet wonderful artists like children’s book illustrator Jerry Pickney, and enjoy the marvelous Christmas train exhibit the museum shows each year. Highly recommend!!
Jock McClees
Beautiful little museum. (Actually not that small) Has art from 3 generations of Wyeth's and many of their contemporaries, particularly others who painted in the Brandywine Valley but also mentors to the Wyeths. Nice cafe there too and the setting by the Brandywine creek is lovely. It also has a scale model of the Brandywine creek wrapped around the large circular central staircase. Part of the building is an old mill building.
Jo Anne Norris
Beautiful facility and the railroad installation is wonderful.
Cheryl Fallon
If you are anywhere near this museum, you must stop in. An amazing collection which is rotated frequently. I can not even count the number of times I have visited and each time it is a new an exciting feast for the eyes and the soul. The museum and property are beautiful and tranquil allowing one to soak in the work of the masters presented here. The museum also affords the additional opportunity to visit the studios of both NC and Andrew. Always looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for this treasure!!
Martha Neubert
This museum is an historic treasure for appreciating an Icon of American art and his own family history of family artists! What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon! I am moved and feel blessed to be able to experience life through the eyes and artistic portrayal of the Wyeth family! Thank you!
Ed Bruno
Brandywine Valley centric art museum located on the Brandywine River. Beautiful collection and location.
Cyndi Hyde
There is always an exceptional exhibit here! At present, 3 of them: women's suffrage, the march to Selma, and Betsy Wyeth. All are fascinating. Be sure to reserve your timed tickets online, and don't forget your face mask. And the cafe is open!
Gaeli Keffer-Scharpf
It was really fun to see the Halloween and Cinderella art pieces. The lunch was okay, wish they served breakfast. It is FREE the first Sunday of every month, so there were ALOT of people there. There was something going on so all the kids were dressed up as pirates. overall pretty fun.
sonya schwarz
This is my second visit and it was so much better than the first time 5 years ago. This was all due to the fact that I became addicted to art 5 years ago. Greater appreciation for the arts now. The Wyeth's are an amazing family of painters! Check it out!
Mohamed Khalifa
We just did the trail and it was well maintained
Amy Funk
Very interesting exhibit on Homer's art and photography. Too wet and rainy for us to enjoy the river trail. Lots of Wyeth art. The Wyeth studios were closed for the winter so we will have to come back to have a total experience.
Melanie Muckle
Beautiful space... beautiful art. Very glad we stopped in and experienced a glimpse into the Wyeth family legacy.
Kevin Smith
Wonderful museum in Chadds Ford, PA. They have a newly retooled museum cafe with fascinating lunch options (I had a skate sandwich, for example) and a beautiful view of the Brandywine. The museum features works by N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, and others in the Wyeth family. We went on a tour of N.C. Wyeth's home and studio, which was a short bus ride away and led by a knowledgeable and helpful guide. The special exhibition on the top floor features children's book illustrators. Could easily spend more time at this small but beautiful museum.
Randal LESTER
Great walking trails and great art
Mark Mahoney
Had our wedding here last weekend and it was awesome! DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK HERE!!
Food was served as stations and everyone loved it. Even my vegan friends had a lot to choose from.
I can't say enough good things about it. It was such a beautiful and special place for photos too. If you're looking for your standard catering hall then do not book here but if you want a unique, charming wedding experience then you can't go wrong.
Becky the Special Event Coordinator was nothing short of superb! She took care of us from the minute we toured the venue to the minute we left after the reception.
Edward Whitby
A full day of browsing and learning things I had no idea I ever WANTED to learn about these artists. Will return periodically to check out new exhibits. The cafe is a perfect place to relax, drink, and eat during the day.
Joanne Meierhofer
Wonderful collection of three generations of Wyeths
Jared Layser
I come here every time I visit home, a beautiful building and an unbelievable collection of art. Go for the N.C. Wyeth studio tour! It is offsite, they take you there with a shuttle bus. The studio is preserved in the same condition as he left it, with several large pieces and one that he was still completing when he passed away. It was breathtaking.
William Schwenk
Very informative exhibit of N.C. Wyeth's illustrations. Learned much about his life and how good his illustrations are. Tour of his studio and house is excellent and the docent was particularly knowledgeable. Highly recommended but exhibit ends Sept. 15.
Gayle Jordan
We come every year we get to PA. What a great legacy the Wyeth family has left for us to be amazed and enjoy. My husband is an illustrator, fine artist and granite artist. He has always been a student of NC and we pay him homage and enjoy his home and studio tour every year. Such an inspiration. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity!
Bill Cummins
Bought family passes and had the day of my life here. I took the N C Wyeth home and studio tour. There is something about being in the studio where so many iconic works of art that fired the imaginations of so many people were created. This museum has to be on your bucket list.
Dillon conover
Visited during COVID they are doing a great job still lots to see
Shane Macas-Senn
A gem that dazzles off of the beaten path. When most people think of art in Eastern Pa, they think of the museums in Philadelphia; however, if you want a quaint little place where you can enjoy a nice date or somewhere to take the family then give the Brandywine River Museum a try. Their collection of Wyeths is amazing and they normally have little functions every month such as music or lectures. If you get tired of the inside then there is plenty of outdoor scenery to explore. So in all, I highly recommend it.
Barry Levine
Wonderful museum highlighting the works of the Wyeth family and Howard Pyle. Beautiful location on the Brandywine Creek. About two hours to view the galleries and another hour for the studio tours. There is a cafe and gift shop.
Daniel B
A true treasure of Eastern Pennsylvania. Located 20 miles from Philadelphia. While in this area, make sure you visit Longwood gardens. The history of Brandywine is amazing. A great place to visit any time. If you love art, you must go.
Jim McFalls
Great little gem of a museum, and the grounds are also beautiful!
Kathryn Mehrtens
It is great to see the paintings of the Wyeth family. The galleries are always changing so when you go you always see something different. There is a nice cafeteria, and the setting of the museum is very beautiful
Christian
A real find. I grew up in the area and never knew about it, boy am I glad we visited. Beautiful grounds, a wonderfully restored building and a great collection of not just Andrew Wyeth, but his father N.C., son and other relatives. Worth the trip.
Annette Seidenglanz
If you like Andrew Wyeth and the Brandywine River School, this is the place for you! The building is a renovated structure that keeps a rustic contemporary attitude throughout and the views of the Brandywine River are lovely.
Another unique feature of the museum is its native plant gardens which are amazing any time of year.
Lunch can be bought on the first floor in a cafe behind the shop.
M A
Lovely museum with some great American artists’ works (Wyeth family & special Homer exhibit when I came). I spent about 3 hours. The audio guide, while clunky and buggy (it kept restarting and losing my place in the audio), was really informative and enjoyable to listen to. I was there today on Black Friday and it wsd crowded with visitors (including families with small children for the train exhibit). I admit this was really annoying as many were talking very loudly and not paying attention to the art (is there not a better place to chat about politics???). The headphones on the audio guide stink but I was able to use my earbuds which helped with the ambient “noise”.
Brent Feldmann
Had not been here in years. Amazing train display during the holiday
Lisa B.
A gem for Wyeth fans! Lighting was perfect; Open modern design. Plenty of seating, a cafe and professional, friendly staff. Three floors (not overwhelming or disappointing). Tucked back in the woods by a river so peaceful as well.
William Brannick
A wonderful location this time of year! We take our son and daughter there to see the train and doll displays.
Have only visited during the day, mid-week. Perfect timing w small crowds. Unsure of the weekends.
We learned this year that a AAA membership will get adults in on a buy one get one deal. Kids free up to 5.
Susan Gallagher
Beautiful building. Wonderful permanent and changing exhibits. Beautiful ourdoors. Access to Wyeth studio and farm which was the most often painted by Andrew Wyeth. NC WYETH, and Jamie Wyeth displayed also. Small cafe. Saw people tubing on Brandywine.
Rod Schultz
Andrew Wyeth is my favorite artist, so this museum is heaven on earth for me. Plus, it's beautiful artwork in a beautiful building at a beautiful location. This area along the river is just spectaclar and the archetecture fits in perfectly.
Chad Barger
Gorgeous museum right on the Brandywine River with an amazing Wyeth family collection.
Nicole Kingsbury-Ganz
Amazing museum. Absolutely first class on every level.
John Auer
The Brandywine River Museum of Art is a true treasure. The art on display is consistently outstanding. While other museums succumb to displaying post-modern pretentious trash, Brandywine River Art Museum chooses to display art that speaks for itself instead of requiring obtuse explanation. Any visitor or local will have a blast here! Brandywine River upholds and celebrates artistic excellence.
Scott Reynolds
A beautiful jewel box of a museum just outside Philadelphia with collection of Wyeth family paintings and others. The N. C. Wyeth "Treasure Island" illustrations alone are worth the admission. If the weather is nice be sure to walk along the river outside the main building.
Ryan Ireland
Great small museum, if you check their calendar you can find lots of activities for kids. I've seen some great exhibits here, and the grounds are beautiful as well. Definitely worth an occasional visit!
Melissa Karlson
Amazing place! Beautiful museum with friendly staff. Designed in a way that is easy to explore. Classy and peaceful. A wonderful way to spend time feeling inspired and centered.
Trish Duggan
Loved the art and how it was all arranged! What a beautiful place!
Scott Weber
Great place to enjoy the work of local N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. They often have great traveling exhibits are often very good. enjoyed food in the cafe as well. great location overlooking Brandywine river.
Carol Sullivan
Wonderful museum. Great location. Also, gift shop, bookstore, café.
David Tagg
Outstanding, small musuem. Viewed a fabulous collection of Andrew Wyeth works. Also had a great showing of Howard Pyle illustrations. Out of the way, not easy to find but very well worth the trip
R Houseman
This is a wonderful small American art museum features the works of N. C., Andew and Jamie Wyeth. The musuem islocated with in in a renovated mill on the Brandywine River
If you are a model train enthusiast you need to visit during the Christmas season when they have a spectacular set up.
Kronos Blade
Very small place. If your near by I would go. The train thing is ok . But if you have an 8 year old or younger it's worth it, just to see there face light up
Jacqueline Ioli, PhD, RN
We went yesterday and it was delightful as usual. If you have been before, you will enjoy the lovely new exhibits on Women's sufferage/19th amendment and the MLK March in 1965. This was so we'll curated and was really am experience to longer and enjoy for to the great captions plus audio and video loop of Dr. King's speech, "how long? Not long!" Really don't miss this exhibition because the content is so good and it is so well done.
Online how the staff mixed up the Wyeth collection and keeps it fresh. I do miss the caption of Jamie Wyeth's portrait of a pig that tells the story of the pig (ate his paint and pooped in many colors!).
And there are breathtaking views of the Brandywine in the atrium. And don't miss the little trail in the property. And it's accro3ss the street from Hanks (see that review). A great little daytrup from Philly.
A'Lexa Hawkins
I appreciate this museum very much. The physical place is so beautiful and peaceful and I always love the artwork of Andrew Wyeth.
Kathleen Stattel
Enjoyed the outdoor sculpture gardens this time. Every visit to the museum is a new discovery. Love it and the staff are great.
Lynn Maclary
If you enjoy art nothing else need be said. A visit to this museum is a must.
SE Justus
Always worth the trip, the rotating collection of Wyeth works never disappoints and often surprises. This visit included the holiday train set-up...what a treat!
RTClass
Well crept well maintained.
Could use some variation in work
Well worth The Visit
Fury Nick
Did I enjoy it um yes, was the building lovely very much so. It has an excellent view of the Brandywine river. How's the art, good some would say very others less so. For me I went there since it was free for me to do so. Might I go again possibly in 10 to 15 yrs.
Jim Brown
Great experience, train exhibits really neat.
K Hster
Wonderfully curated art museum with American artists. The NC house and studio tour is well worth it. We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful gallery.
charles bradley
If you love Treasure Island, as i do, this is the place for you. NC Wyeth illustrated Robert Louis Stevenson book and all the original illustrations are here. In addition , you can visit the artist studios of NC Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. This museum is amazing.
Craig McKay
Nestling beside the Brandywine River, this museum is focused on the American visual artists of the Northeast and particularly the surrounding Brandywine Valley, where three generations of Wyeths (N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth) and their artistic circle lived and worked. The museum has rotating exhibitions, but the permanent collection of Wyeth paintings and drawings are a 'must see'. The museum also features docent escorted tours of the Wyeth family home and studio and the nearby Kuerner Farm. Allow a half to full day to see it all....it's really something special.
betty ford
I had never been to your beautiful area. The museum was laid out so well. The views were wonderful. I .just compliment the curator for articulating the meanings and methods.
Ken McIntosh
I've been here several times and have enjoyed each and every visit.
After Thanksgiving they have the model trains running, and one stretches from wall to wall.
Also, Veterans, don't forget to ask for the Veterans discount...you get in for free.
Eileen M.
My father who was a fan of Andrew Wyeth passed away just over a year ago. Visiting the museum brought back nice memories of art discussions with him. Although I wish he was with me, he was there in spirit.
Chris Aaront
Excellent art museum with optional tours of Wyeth studios. Great cafe onsite overlooking the Brandywine River.
Renee Mcgee
Really enjoyed the train display. My grandson had a great time. Also we had a very nice lunch. Everyone was so pleasant. We will definitely come back again!
Sheila Mugabi
Wonderful exhibit right now! I believe it ends 9/15. Great setting by the Brandywine River. We r so fortunate to have a museum like this so close.
Trish K
I love the museum itself, its the $25 per car fee for parking that the owners charge if you want to park there to go tubing down the brandywine. I can understand a fee, but $25 seems a bit extreme in my opinion.
Susan Thompson
The Ralston Crawford exhibit was fascinating! I learned so much about an artist I had never before heard of and enjoyed his abstractions of the technical and mechanical.
John H
This Art Museum is mostly about the art by Andrew Wyeth, his dad, N C Wyeth, son jaime, and other family members. Some really great works by Howard Pyle. I've always liked Andrew's work but I think I like his dad's and son's work even more. They are much more colorful, with much more colorful subjects too. CHECK OUT THE CURRENT EXHIBIT ON JAIME'S PAINTINGS OF HIS WIFE PHYLLIS WHO RECENTLY PASSED AWAY. THEY'RE JUST FULL OF A WIDE RANGE OF RICH EMOTIONS.
Laura Era
Love this museum tucked back in the woods and by a stream. So restful and peaceful not to mention the wonderful exhibit of Andrew Wyeth. We spent the better part of a day there and will go back again
Richard Kauffman
1st Sunday of every month Feb-Nov free. Excellent art collection of Wyeths ( NC, Andrew and Jamie) As well as Others from the Brandwine River valley. Beautiful location along the banks of the Brandwine. Large windows for viewing the natural surroundings.
Phyllis Harkless
This museum is worth a visit just to see its scenic setting. The Wyeth paintings come alive here, since most were painted near here. Great place to go.
Ann Kroh-Hughes
Beautiful museum located along the bucolic Brandywine River. Paintings were displayed well with great lighting. A must-see for art lovers and novice artists as well.
Veronica Bartley
More than a collection of art, you can visit either NC Wyeth or Andrew Wyeth's house and studio. Some really avant garde items on display. Lovely gift shop. Tours are additional $$$.
Valerie Briglia
This museum. It's such a gem in the community. The art alone is worth a night out, but add in the beautiful surroundings, the children's programs, the festivals and events and you can make this place part of your seasonal traditions. Get there!
Mike Nicholas
Great little art museum. Really knowledgeable staff
Tiffany Perry
We went for a train exhibit during a special sensory friendly event. Nothing else caught anyone's attention enough to go back, but it was beautiful and worth at least a trip to experience it.
Bethany Lilly
An amazing museum devoted in large part to the Wyeth family. My mother loved learning about one of her favorite artists and I enjoyed the collection and the delicious cafe.
Blake Olivieri
Very beautiful building. This place is full of amazing art and has a great view of the river just outside. A great place to visit if you are looking to enjoy some fine art.
Jock McClees
Pretty art museum with a focus on the artists of the Brandywine Valley. The Wyeths and Howard Pyle are the best known. You can also tour NC and Andrew Wyeth's home and art studios nearby.
Stephen Fritz
20th century school of realism. A wonderful experience. I took my family (from Paris, France) there and they were amazed. One of only two (with the Barnes) art museums in Philadelphia worthy of the name.
Paul Peters
My wife and myself are Wyeth art fans. My daughter likes to walk around outside the Museum as well as inside. Christmas time with the trains are a real treat for them.
Mark Reid
Had a great time viewing their gallery, and the price was a really good value. I would definitely go again
Deborah Gonce
Loved an afternoon at Brandywine River Museum . N C Wyeth collection currently on display at the museum was outstanding ! Walked outside for awhile watching people / families tuning down the Brandywine !

Lovely pastoral setting with 3 floors of Wyeth and Wyeth related art work.

Great train exhibit for kids and adults. Cleaned up nicely after September flood.

A beautiful setting for some of the finest American Art in existence. Exhibits are constantly changing throughout the year providing variety for multiple visits.
The annual Christmas display is not to be missed, especially for train buffs.
Tricia Maslowski
I visited the museum and also took a tour of the studio and farm. It was a wonderful experience, overall. Staff was friendly and informative and the museum was filled with amazing paintings.

Liznchuck nymi
A beautiful museum, great collection and stunning views. Worth the trip.

This is a great museum for the entire family, especially around the holidays. Then, they have an enormous train display, trees loaded with handmade, natural critters, and much more.
Sandra Roarty
Went to see the holiday trains and stayed to see the Wyeth paintings. Worth the trip!
JC
Fabulous for Wyeth fans. Tours to the studio and farm were so informative! The guides were knowledgeable and truly enhanced the experience. Don't miss it.
Reed MacMillan
A must for lovers of Andrew Wyeth. Full of many of his stunning masterpieces that fill the viewer with longing, peace, and admiration for his genius. Weymouth paintings are also noteworthy.
Sarah Dattilo
The Christmas train and tree displays are wonderful, and the restaurant serves a great variety, including kids meals (chicken fingers, grilled cheese, etc.)
Daniel Stott
Great atmosphere and a comprehensive collection. A bit pricey, but the first Sunday of the month has free admissuon! Highly recommend for Wyeth connoisseurs.
June Davis
