Reviews of Pearson Air Museum
Markus “markobear1”
I have not been in the museum for many years but I walk past almost daily on a hike around this area.
I remember the museum as being interesting and well done. Lots of local lore relating to aircraft and the impact to Vancouver and the area in general.
There is always plenty of parking. The area around the museum contain the historic Ft' Vancouver and the park grounds surrounding the fort. Loaded with hiking paths .
Handicap accessible.

Pearson Air Museum is worth a visit. Small museum but big history! Historic airplanes, theater inside, free admission, free parking and kids can participate in the junior ranger program to get a free badge! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The Pearson Field Airport is next to it where you can watch planes take off and land.
Wayne O
This museum is on the site of production of World War 1 aircraft. The aircraft on display in pristine condition. Displays, video, and lots of informative displays.
For an aviabtion enthusuiast, this is a great place to visit. The museum is not large, but the aircraft and engines on display are awesome.
The museum is located on an active general aviation airport and at Fort Vancouver. No crowds, informative staff and free admission.
Carina McCoy
Fun free place to take kids. My oldest was very interested to learn about and see the different old planes. My 2 little ones were really loving the new big space, the planes, and getting to go up and down in the elevator. It's good for a quick trip to get out of the house on a rainy day. Plus, all of my girls got badges, the staff was very kind all the way through.
Patrick D
A hangar full of World War I era aircrafts. Entrance is free and is nice quick tour around the Vancouver, WA area!
Lee Mills
Fantastic little museum for any aviation lover. Also…it’s free!
Sena Rider
Awesome exhibits, lots of nice volunteers who answered all of our questions and told us about the history of the planes that the boys said were their favorites. Free entry made it even better!
John Lucas
Don't expect to visit for more than 30 minutes. There are currently 5 planes on exhibit. An excellent idea is to visit the rest of this state park, including Fort Vancouver and grassy area adjacent to the museum and fort. The volunteers on my visit were very knowledgeable and explained the significance of this field in the manufacture of aircraft during the first world war.
Marcello Romano
Amazing place. Small museum but big history, free parking, friendly staff.
Cheyenne Calvert
I had my wedding in the air hanger and it was the dreamiest venue ever! Its raw beauty is so easy to transform into whatever vision you have!
Jesse Pilling
Amazing displays, very friendly staff, and extremely informative!! Definitely would recommend any history buff or aviation enthusiast to check this place out!!
Tim Vinogradov
Great staff, friendly and helpful. Comfortable atmosphere, not too crowded for a Saturday! Will be coming back to see new exhibits this summer
Kim Thomas
Great little museum highlighting the contributions and importance of Pearson Field to early aviation history. Well worth an hour of your time when visiting the Fort Vancouver area, and it's free to the public.

Arvind Alishetty
Nice place to show old planes used by army to kids.
Karolina Scott
Small museum that covers the history of Vancouver's aviation. Free admission along with a great program for kids to earn a pin after completing a small checklist of items. Friendly staff and very spacious for its size. Also, a great place to learn about the Chkalov memorial which is right outside of the museum.
Dareen Thielbar (Dar)
Great museum.
Chris Smith (chrisandcami)
Pretty cool little air museum. Free entry is nice. Only 4 stars because it's so small and doesn't have a lot of aircraft.
Thomas Hoffmann
Small nice museum with 5-6 planes and some information with free admission.
Bryce Caster
Free air museum with exhibits on the historic airfield and its importance during the early days of military aviation.
Brian Rohan
Here for a private event. A nice museum with a lot of information and history.
Sco Say
Spend some time learning from the beginning of plane flight, alot on world war I and the nearby Mill, and the spotter balloons used during WW I.
Whitney Harley
Really unique place. There are some cool planes and interesting exhibits. It has a very relaxed atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff.

Got to enjoy a walk and enjoy the history life that shines around it.

Showing our son at early age this place was really helpful. Now he has a dream to be a pilot. We are a happy to have this museum in our area. So many vintage planes, a lot of information inside. The place is free to enter, but you still can donate. We were happy to do that and have plans o come back here one year after.
Marc Dewey
Cool little museum! And it's free! (but please donate) This place looks brand new and the exhibits are very well put together, with a load of history on the fort & surrounding area. A few beautifully restored planes and old military artifacts are on display. The huge scale model of the early fort was really interesting as well. Worth a stop!
Nicholas Keene
Totally nice air and war museum. Good for kids and adults but limited options for very young children.
Will Tijerina
Not large by any means but they have some very nice historical aircraft including some WWI fighters. Also, this place can be used as a venue for functions. I was just there for a company party and there was plenty of space and the temperature (during the winter) in the hanger was just right. I don't know the pricing but it was a great venue.
Katie Horrocks
Our family enjoys this museum. Great displays of airplanes and the history of Vancouver. They have a room to play a video but it's never been on when we have gone. It's a great FREE museum. Free parking and clean bathrooms. The staff is friendly too.
Jackie Grange
Free entrance, donation box present. A small museum packed with many vintage planes. Great for history buffs who want to read the displays as well as kids to look and walk through. Plus an educational area for children to launch paratroopers.
Laura Miller
Fun place. It has a few interactive exhibits and the air display is beautiful. It was fun exploring the old buildings and there is a very nice picnic area. Save some money to spend at the shop too. Cool things for sale.
Michael Michael (Mike)
Great historical museum in an airplane hangar and building with interactive displays for the kids, real air planes and engines for the much bigger kids and plenty of history throughout. Even better it's free but leaving a donation will help them keep this place running.
Kari Smith-Schlecht
My daughter's wedding reception was held at this beautiful venue and it's was AMAZING! This venue is wonderful because of it's size and versatility but also because its a lovely blank canvas that can be turned into what ever you are wanting to achieve.
David McMullin
If you love aircraft, you will like it, Loved my visit.
Adam Cook
Saddly still not open since pandemic. July 2021 posting.
cindy skrivanek
This museum has real planes as well as dioramas of aviation history in the Washington area. It is organized and impressive in what they portray. Being on the Fort Vancouver Historical site means it can be the first of multiple locations to immerse in.
Karen Heckler
this museum is a small little gem. They don't have that many planes on view but if you get there when a volunteer docent is there, they are very knowledgeable and can answer almost any question. The docent that I met was a veteran who knew so much about the Vancouver aviation history.
There are a lot of stations that have to be read. It begins with the history of flight at this very field in the early 1900s. Even women were pilots & there is a section dedicated to these early femmes if the sky. The history continues through world war 1 and world war II and the importance of the building that was done at the adjacent fort. Men, as well as women, worked around the clock in order to supply the Pacific Theater with the necessary planes.
There is ample parking for free.
If you are a history buff and interested in how aviation, in particular, won 2 wars, visit
Melanie Sheats
Five stars, if you are into aviation history. Pearson Air Field and its Museum are attached to the NPS with the neighboring Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. It is a small (free) museum concerning the aviation history of the adjacent Pearson Air Field involving the Pacific coast as well as the local Vancouver, WA/Portland, OR area. There is a variety of historical planes on display inside the museum. The history of flight is also displayed.
Pearson Air Field is well worth a visit if you are interested in early aviation history or that of the Pacific Northwest. A visit here is easily combinable with the nearby Fort Vancouver National Historic Site for an afternoon of additional discovery.
Marcus K.
Great exhibits about the advent of flight. Starting with the wright brothers and through the early technological innovations. Rangers and docent guide you through but you can explore on your own as well. Ignore all the one star reviews. Those have nothing to do with the exhibits here now.
Peter Reinold
Great place for aviation fans. Pearson Field is one of the oldest still operating airfields in the US. Admission is free and the staff is super friendly. They are very happy to tell you more about this place.
marie o
Its small, but that's ok. Good to take, kids because you will easily see it all. Very simple and, easy introduction of aviation and aviation history to children. Theres some hands on elements that I know the kids like. And afterwards you can,go across the street to a nice and large park.

What an awesome museum, never knew there was so much aviation history in Vancouver
Christioher M.
A museum is difficult to rate accurately because what is the comparison related for judgemet not as a slight but as a esteemed colleague applying constructive criticisms founded on mutual accelerated improvements driven by competion? If we used the Smithsonian institution as our benchmark Institutional museum. Then in the known world or slightly fantastic perhaps; NO ONE COULD COMPARE!
Save maybe ancient Alexandria only could critique. This being the case we must resign Pearson to it's own merits and character and see this for what it is. A unique but highly valuable museum and location deserving and owning to proper esteem imparted by historic rarety and Intrinsic worth. What a mouthful, right...ugh. So, for this little museum is it in its own right is a smaller but informed repository of historically accurate local relative items. For the sake of these objects the value of an NPO can't be understated. To support this museum is a worthy cause and effort and you can not go wrong with your patronage. Leave a donation and depending on your level of interest plan on about an hour before the children are ready for something else and tour with a smile. We enjoyed it thoroughly and can't NOT, NOT recommend it. For the value of the money spent, (donation discretionary) how can you possibly loose? Great place to visit, Enjoy.

The Pearson Air Museum is part of the Vancouver National Historic Reserve District. The District was built in 1824 to the early 1900's and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. This Museum is Awesome!!
Addie Padilla
This museum is located at Fort Vancouver National Park. There are numerous planes exhibited here, some suspended in the air others on the floor. It goes back to the golden age of aviation, when the Germans lead aviation, and moves forward during the first world war when America began building planes here using Alaska spruce.

The Pearson Air Museum, managed by the National Park Service as part of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, is a great little museum. It has many different exhibits which share information about the history of flight, and the history of the site.
Chris Riedener
This small museum has several important items including a DH4 and a Liberty engine, and a scale model of the Spuce Division cut up plant. My review focuses on the latter. Pearson Airfield is the former site of the cut up plant. The mill played an important role during WW1 and supplied Sitka Spuce to allied contries in Europe. The words Sitka Spuce should get the attention of anyone interested in early 20th century aircraft. The timber industry of course played an enormous role in defining the Pacific NW. If you have an interesed in the latter I recommend a stop at the Oregon Rail Herritage Center. They have a small display that complements this museum. It explains the rail network that was built.
Frank Stowe
