Reviews of Laclede's Landing Wax Museum
This wax museum was so much fun. I won't lie to you and say every single wax figure was believable and lifelike. But I will say that walking through identifying them was a total blast. If you happened to go and did not check out the horror section, you'd absolutely be missing out. It's not a haunted house, but I'd say it's better than one. No, nothing touches you or reaches out, but it's so creepy and weird that it seriously terrified me. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a fun thing to do that's off the beaten path.
Awesome Wax Figures..Also Had A Haunted House In Basement..Great Experience
We were out seeing the arch and stumbled a pond this wax museum that was incredible. Three or four story building with killer clowns in the basement. Deff check it out
A lot of different wax people. Not too shabby. There's a few exhibits that could use a good cleaning and maintenance. Don't forget to try the ice cream!
Great place!
Some characters look more realistic than others but all in all a great place to walk through and enjoy some movie and real life historical characters.
The lower levels were definitely our favorite.
Don't skimp out on the chamber of horrors.
A must see if you're going there!
This place was OK not a great inviting place and the access is not handicap friendly the halls are all black and everything was dingy and dirty looking. The customer service here was lacking I was indeed scared and creeper out by the horror experience but hey I am a chicken . I probably wouldn't recommend this place to travelers but I don't regret going either
I'm sorry, but this place is weirdly wonderful! If you're looking for Madam Tussauds than you'll be disappointed, but if you're looking for the odd and unusual (which I prefer) than look no more! I have been coming here for 25 years and it always leaves a lasting impression!
Bring a flashlight. some of the exhibits are very dark and you are unable to see what they are. Most of the Statues are very dusty. The museum is very cool and worth the visit. For $10 for adults its worth the visit.
We really enjoyed our visit. Its was so much fun and if u scary like myself, I wouldn't recommend the bottom levels. I was scared out my mind...lol
The price is pretty decent for a walk-up, add-on item to your day. Most of the display items look like discards from the high end displays. Many have a difficult time resembling their namesake, look severely disheveled, or have been damaged.
The dungeon houses the freak show with some movie icons but mostly appeared to be reenactments of mutilation websites from the dark web. Had I seen it first I would not have taken my kids as it's nothing more than a gore fest.
When you see the WW2 leaders you may wonder why Hitler is not included. You'll find him in the basement near Satan.
The bathroom is in the hunted part and one of the kids are scary so I had to hooollld my pee it was dark and very quick needs a bit of an update
My kids and I went just because we went to see the Arch and this was on the strip. It was just okay because some of the lights were blown so we didn't see get to see all of the displays. Also, all of the figures were so dusty. It starts on the 5th floor and goes down to the first. Its something to experience but I probably wouldn't go again.
No refunds if you don't make it through. My child couldn't. But the girl working there was awesome and helped him not feel bad about it. Thank you we hope to visit again though.
Great place to visit. Don't get your expectations too high, some wax figures don't quite resemble their human counterparts but it's all very nice to see and explore. Downstairs is the scary gruesome part. Pretty much all gore, most definitely not for kids (or teenagers) be warned
Good time, something slow paced. Got out of heat for few hours. Also serves ice cream. Lady working and counter was a blast.
I was a little skeptical with 3.8 rating but I realized why. They have 5 floors and 2 of them are filled with characters from all kinds of horror movies. It literally feels like you are in a haunted house but a better version. The other 3 floors have several wax statues of notable persons. But, the feel still can be scary. I was by myself in the entire museum(other than the receptionist) so, its to get scared for those who are not into horror movies or gets scared easily. This is actually a good places to visit if you don't get scared easily. I highly recommend to visit them.
Almost like a wax museum and haunted house in one! I loved it! Gonna bring everyone here haha
Place is old and Dusty, some of the wax people were missing fingers and toes. There should also be labels on each person
My grandkids loved looking at the wax here, we all had a great time. My wife has lupus and my grandson has special needs so my granddaughter and I left them upstairs during the scary portion of the tour. They sure did love seeing jesus and shrek in the same exhibit though! It does really get pretty scary though some of the figures look very lifelike, so be careful if you are faint of heart. 5 stars

I had so much fun ☺ It was my first time here and I really enjoyed the wax figures.
I came in here and thought I saw a sculpture of my dad!!! My dad's not even famous! Overall a really scary experience.
Great place! Very kitchy and kinda homemade but we loved it
This place is absolutely incredible. If you are are into the bizarre, this is your place. The wax figures are not great, and there are rogue wax fingers and feet laying around inside the cases. The figures are also quite dusty and have paint peeling and cracks. However this all just adds to the unique ambiance and feel of the museum. It can feel derelict and creepy even before you visit the lower levels with cheap jump scares. If you are expecting a pristine museum experience you will be sorely disappointed, however you are also missing the point. My partner and I had a blast guessing who a lot of the figures were and laughing at how terrible many are. We then proceeded to share images with family and friends continuing the experience long after we left. Easily the best value recieved on $20 for entertainment since the pandemic began.
5 floors of wax figures top three are an assortment of famous people, celebrities presidents, religious figures, superheroes ECT. The bottom 2 are horror themed, not terribly scary but more nostalgic. This coming from a wimp. My only complaint is the turn style to get in, it's tiny!! Get rid of it, it's America everyones fat lol. They had Captian Spalding I'm in 💕💕
The owner is beyond one of the nicest gentlemen I have met in awhile. A fun tour of over 3 floors of multiple Era themes. F7n for the whole family.
We enjoyed our visit. Skipped the scary stuff. The place needs a good cleaning. Most exhibits are very dusty.
Really loved the wax museum. There was alot to see.. The kids enjoyed it. Had one that was scared.. Sherry Burrichter
I visited the museum 11/10/19 with my fiance, and we absolutely loved it. The man working the front counter was very friendly and helpful. The price is fair, especially considering the size of the place. There are so many wax figures intricately painted so realistically, it looks like they're alive. There are a lot of reviews here, and in other places, that mention how old and dusty the place is. What else do you expect from downtown St. Louis? These buildings are historical. Of course they're old. They add to the aesthetic and character, and I personally enjoy the creepy vibe it gives off. I'm not one for superstition, but if you are, you'll really enjoy the museum. My fiance and I didn't feel rushed at all. We thoroughly enjoyed the horror rooms throughout the two lower levels. I will say, this is not a place to bring your children, MAYBE the older ones...but I found a sitter for mine and am glad I did. It's spooky, and figures "lurk" around corners.
Friendly staff and wax figures were really cool!
Really cool and life-like. Could have sworn some of their eyes were moving. Can't be a coward going into the basement and NO KIDS down there!look
Very interesting pieces. Some fairly tight spaces to walk through but the exhibits were very nice!
I've never been to a wax museum before and I'm really impressed that artists from all around the world collectively display their work in this five-story museum! They have wax statues of like everything. Go check it out, definitely a great place to admire really intricate wax artwork.
Had a group of 8 (5 adult, 3 children) only half could even go into the main portion, I guess to some it's a really scary place, I found it entertaining and a unique way of seeing/figuring out who some/what they were. Overall worth the 10 bucks to get in and wonder around.
Admission is reasonable. The educational floors included presidents and world leaders. They have my son’s (6yrs old) favorite movie characters; and have the scary characters from movies I love ( Beetlejuice & Freddy). A spot for all members of the family.
I was disappointed that the ice cream parlor was closed. They had ice cream, but the worker said it was old and had to be replaced. Glad he didn’t just serve it to us anyway.
We will be back when we visit StLouis next time!
This place was creepy when we pulled up. I was like this is going to be stupid. We traveled to the top floors. It was all history related and movies. I am a history buff, so it was okay. Then we traveled to the basements. The creepiness of the building with the scary props were awesome. I think they should make the whole thing a haunted wax museum. It is worth the ten dollars.
A number of the displays need upkeep and the signage was insufficient to be able to tell who was who. I would really like to see some maintenance done here. I came as a kid and have many great memories of the place, particularly the horror section! Still worth a nostalgic visit.
This was museum is a riot! I love the artist's attention to detail, even if every wax person didn't look exactly like who they were supposed to be. The basement was my favorite: floating eyeballs; talking, moving creatures; and familiar faces. I had a terrific time visiting.
I visited this wax museum two years ago and I think about it almost every single day. It is such a wild ride. If you're a flexible person who is easily entertained...please go. I laughed so incredibly hard at things that may not have been funny on purpose, but are burned into my brain for the rest of time. I will visit this wax museum as many times as I possibly can because it is quite possibly one of my favorite places on earth.
Super creepy. Even the friendly wax figures seemed sinister.
10/10 on the creep factor. I throughly enjoyed my visit. The whole experience start to finish was very bazaar.
The STL Wax Museum is an excellent place to experience. My favorite moment was walking in and trying to discern which people were real and which were "wax". Amazing and fun. Avoid the lower two levels unless you are a die hard horror fan. Top three are fun and jogged the memory of this old gal
Creepy and fantastic visit!
Some cool wax statues, some not very good at all. (Will Smith looks like a street bum in the MIB scene) The horror section was cool, lots of gore, but very dark and poorly assembled scenes took a lot away from it, which is also an issue in the other sections. Not a bad place to check out if you're curious, but kinda pricey for what you get. Poor lighting, poor direction from attendant, most statues unlabeled so you don't know who its supposed to be. I think it's a really great idea with a poor execution. If they put a little work into the scenes, clean, and organize the place, maybe install more lighting, then it would be worth the money to go.
It was a good time..wish they would put up name plates..
Fun place, close walk to the Arch as well.
The pieces in exhibition are really really good, very real and plenty variety. Super heroes, snow withe, Pirates, alien, the greys, Harry Potter, Pirates, Nativity, Jesus life and crucifixion, different kings and queens, wars of the galaxy, some presidents, and important inventors! And many more!! The horror Halloween section is big and pretty good scary. The problems are too many! They sale ice cream on the building which it takes a lot of the good! It is warm inside! Teenagers are on charge, awkward display, a lot of the names on figures aren't there, no explanation or stories of what are you seeing. And isn't well clean. (PLEASE CLEAN THIS PLACE. Some ventilation won't hurt) I'm absolutely sure that if they take this pieces to a modern, clean place! This will be totally a place to love!
Its very poorly lit, just dark in some corners. Very dusty. 3 stories and no handicap accesabilty. The wax figures are very creepy and not very good. NOT FOR KIDS. My 12 yr old and my 8 yr old got very scared and creeped out.We didn't even got into the basement which is horror themed for those who are into that. Great place for teens, young adults, and adults. I disliked the poor lighting and in some spots no lighting. No signs to direct you anywhere. Just narrow maze like corridors with the occasional wax character in the occasional corner. Nothing is really labeled.
We go every year, and it's better every time. There are some lights out in the religious section, which makes it even creepier than the horror basement. There's one figure that I can't figure out if it's Woody Allen or Carl Sagan, and I never want to find out. I love this place.
Inexpensive for families. Good time. Needs a little more light.
Some wax figures a bit creepy and did not look right but others were phenomenal. If you go I would recommend to for sure go to the horror chamber it was the best. But overall the guy at the front counter was nice and it was something fun to do.
Some people give this museum a bad review, but in my opinion, if you are someone with a sense of humor and want to have fun, this is a great place to go. I have taken my nieces and nephews many times and we laugh so hard our stomachs hurt! If you are looking for a fancy top notch wax museum, this is not for you! So much fun for people who know how to have fun and enjoy laughing!
Charming, weird place. Pay to enter, and head all the way up to enjoy the wondrous and oddly uneasy atmosphere. Also watch out for the big wax figure chilling in the hall. Almost noped right out of there before I realized it was just another statue and not a creepy person. It's not a creepy place, but the stuff in the main lobby would lead you to think it was.
Cool place. Don't get your hopes up, but for $10 a person, it's a good time. They need more signs that identify who the statue is. The signs are very helpful and most have signs, they just need signs on others.
Okay, I am by no means easy to scare which is why I am pleased to say the horror section was the bees knees! I had to use the bathroom and she told me it was through the horror section I was like nope I'm going to go through and get to it when I get to it. ...i got to it after jumping outta my skin. legit would recommend everyone go to this place
Thia place was fun, good detail in the art. The only improvement that's needed is nametags on the figures.
It was a nice experience (although) the creepy side i coudnt finish doing.. lol but the front desk lady was AWSOME.. she was very informational & interactive with us.. smiled laughed n was polite..
Great time here! Tons of wax sculptures to see, so a great little attraction for the town :) would be nice to see the figures dusted off a bit and broken lightbulbs replaced in a few areas though. Overall worth the trip!
It was sooo much fun. I had a Groupon for two adults for $10. It was a little creepy because there is not much room to walk around and some areas was not lit. If you are claustrophobic you may not like it. The only wax museum that I visited so far that has of the life of Jesus!
possibly the creepiest place I've ever been. Definitely worth checking out
Love it !
Basement my favorite !!!
I did love the place.
They do have information, it was very nice and neat .
When we got to the scary part;
We didn't know it was there ; it really scary; they look so real and they and they are scary.
So if you want to have a good scare for Halloween or anytime this is the best place to go to.
I dare you to go to the basement
I was back in town for a funeral and decided to meet up with a good friend. It was 104º outside so the thought of all of our usual outdoor haunts were simply out of the question. We walked into the City Museum and walked right back out ... apparently everyone had that idea. So we had to think of some other way to have some fun and beat the cruel heat. My friend (being the hip, modern person she is) started searching on her phone for other things we could do. She found the Laclede's Landing Wax Museum. I've been to loads of wax museums and always enjoy them. When she said she'd never been to one, that just sealed the deal so off we went.
The admission price was $10 each, which I'd say is pretty reasonable judging from the other Wax Museums I'd been to. There's a nice little place on the inside to buy snacks, ice cream and drinks. The people who worked there (I only saw two young guys manning the front desk) were really laid back. And in the insane heat, the place was VERY air conditioned (it is a wax museum, after all) and delightfully empty ... there were just a few small groups that we passed while we were there.
It was an expansive collection and the winding labyrinth-like setup was pretty fun. The problem was that it seemed that the venue nor the collections were not well taken care of. The glass that enclosed all of the wax figures was extremely dirty with handprints and dust to the point that it was difficult to see some of exhibits. The wax figures themselves looked like they had been on all-night benders with frazzled hair and some of them in awkward, almost drunken poses. Many of them were missing fingers or, like Spock, a chunk of his nose. A lot of the figures had extensive cobwebs and a very thick layer of dust covering them. Some of the exhibits weren't lit up and some were empty. The vast majority of them lacked any sort of information or even a placard of who they were ... which would have been helpful for some of the lesser quality figures that didn't bear a good likeness to anyone in particular. The information that was provided was kind of taped up crookedly on the glass. BTW, if you're one of those people who describes yourself as "OCD", you probably won't enjoy your visit; there are a lot of crooked things and things that are just "off". That sort of stuff doesn't bother me but it was messing with my friend.
The newer section which featured superheroes looked like large action figures ... they weren't even wax. It kinda just seemed like a cheap, slipshod, modern answer to the skill and beauty of wax figure art. The Horror section was kind of fun. It was definitely gory and not advisable for kids, prudes or wimps. There was a lot of nudity, too.
Despite all of that, she and I really had a wonderful time. It was a large collection with a good variety of historical figures and celebrities. Honestly the crappiness of it kind of made it fun and we laughed about the figures who looked like they had just gotten back from the club, and mused (and shuddered) about what might go on at the wax museum at night. We were a little sad about how neglected the wax figures seemed to be. It has a lot of potential to be a really wonderful little display but it really needs some TLC and upkeep. The lack of care kind of makes you wonder where your admission is going.
It was a neat little place to visit, though! We really did have a lot of fun and it was a nice way to beat the heat. With a little work this place could be a great feature of the awesome city of St. Louis!
So creepy it’s good? The top 2 floors are all historical figures and some salvaged movie props, but the unkept nature and disrepair of the entire place are definitely worth the $10. You’ll think you’re in an episode of American Horror Story and you’re about to become the next feature displayed. Snow White is passed out on the glass, Neil Armstrong is suffocating in space, and there are heaps of presidents.
My friend made the whole experience for me cause it was his idea and he pushed me ahead of him the entire time. I would suggest making sure the flashlight on your phone works, there are parts that are poorly lite and some places they have not replaced the lighting. Sweet dreams.
It's more of a novelty than a "must see", but I consider it a "must see novelty" if you will. There's a decent size horror section and good photo ops
There are lots of lightning issues which can be dangerous. Some of the flooring feels loose and sounds as though you'll fall though. But over all its a kind of cute and interesting place. The ice cream is also $3 a scoop.
There were several exhibits to see . Some were really great. And on the lower levels they have lots of Glory Wax figures from horror movies. I'm really scary but I liked it. :-)
The wax statues need to be upgraded but overall it's a good place for tourist sugar kids history in the lower level is good place to see if your kids ready for a hunted house overall it should never closed its just be upgraded and ice cream is fabulous
My other half and I were in town for the haunt convention this weekend, and decided to go explore some interesting parts of STL... Found this in a brochure at our Hotel... It was a lot of fun... This is not a super fancy wax museum, it is VERY unique... If you like things a little bit on the creepy side, you will love this... We had a really fun time and the people who run/own it were super nice!
Wish all the people were labeled so we could identify them all. But overall super fun place and the chamber of horrors was fun and a unique experience for a wax museum! I recommend anyone to go. Maybe not kids haha
The path is a bit confusing; feels too maze-like but otherwise quite nice seeing all the wax sculptures from throughout history as well as popular movies. The two horror floors were exciting.
Awesome collection with lots of statues of all kinds of people, super heroes, historical figures, religious figures, and horror. Cost of admission is very reasonable for an entire family to visit. Highly recommend stopping in.
Classic, I've been going here since my parents brought me when I was younger, and various times since. Its pretty neat and scary if you choose to view the basement. Enjoy!
It was a wax museum with a cast of characters. Horror section in the basement. Many photo opts available. Much of the work looks like it was done a little while ago and adds to the creepy ambience of the place.
Great place to take the family or friends. Lots of wax figures and they even have a couple levels of horror movie characters.
This place is the most hilarious wax museum I have ever visited. It's old and falling apart and kinda creepy TBH... That being said... I highly recommend taking a group of friends just for the memories. I've been 4 times and want to go back!
this is a stellar place that will keep your mind aleart
Fun and unique experience. The Chamber of Horrors downstairs is spooky!
Had fun hanging with my favorite celebrities it was amazing! Had drinks saw a movie and eat good. I recommend you come here and check it out yourself!
It's a damn riot. Some displays are hard on the eyes, and a bit freaky, but that's the fun! The dude working the counter had some creepy stories as well. Do it..
Older museum. Interesting, not like Vegas. Still nice to visit. Good scary wax figures.
Please stop with the bad reviews.
This place is a St.louis tradition.
My wife enjoyed every minute, she was so scared of Micheal Myers😁 …
Had some pretty cool figures the chamber of horror is not for little children lot of steps to go up and no elevators
We loved it when we went on our honeymoon in 2010 and in 2021 we are taking our son,
Definitely worth the admission cost. The horror area was a bit gory but added a little drama to the venture. Would definitely recommend a visit!
Great little wax museum. Very unique and great for a cheap but fun experience. The person who was at the front desk when Icame in was very helpful and extremely accommodating.
Dark, unkempt. Everything was covered in dust. Lots of the figures had no name or description. Appeared more dedicated to horror movies instead of teal people.
Completely bizarre but totally fun. It's dirty and a little unnerving but made for some great pictures and memories.
Figures were ok, statues and establishment need cleaned. Cobwebs all over the wax figures, parts of the ceiling were and had fallen on them.
The chamber of horrors was unexpectedly surprising! Will scare the poop outta ya! With a conveniently located bathroom. :D
So fun, been twice both times been the only people, you’ll have a good time
Really cool place. I don't understand any of thr negative reviews. Great price. Good way to kill some time.
None of the wax people came to life to lead us into a fun adventure, but other than that it was a very fun time.
At first I thought it was going to be stupid but I was actually really pleased. There were some neat things to see and some surprises I wasn't expecting. all in all, I feel like it was totally worth it.
It was my 1st time and I had a great ttime with my family! The scary part as awesome!
It was fun. I needed to fill some time. Some were a little goofy but overall it was an interesting oddity.
Very exciting place, first went here when I was a kid, still exciting because they have different displays
Cool place and loved the wax sculptures... Some needed cleaned and fixed ... Cool horror levels ....
Cool experience! Lots of detailed art work down there, price isn't bad at all.
Had an awesome time
I never laughed so hard in my life! The inaccuracies and trying to figure out who the figured were was the most fun part
Very neat and staff is very friendly! They have a 3.00 off coupon on back of books at hotels.
It was like a minni maze got lost a couple of times. Not to bad
A little ran down. But with nothing really to do that day, it was pretty fun. Made me think about opening my own!
Its a awesome place, Horror theme over there is really interesting.
So weird and creepy. Totally worth the $10. Go in with low expectations and a sense of humor.
Very neat and original! Friendly staff, not bad priced! Really good ice cream too
It is a really close space but there is a lot of cool things there and yeah
Very awesome place loved seeing all the wax statues very well-made
I don't do places like this because on the real... They freak me out... But I did it an it was awesome!
Fun attraction to go to with friends, but not overwhelmingly accurate. The basement was a highlight
It was very awesome.
Great place but it needs just a little more light and some more plaques for the people.
I loved the wax figures....most displays were dark though..
Thiis place is so weird. Not really worth the admission price, but the ice cream is good.
Absolutely loved it, it's a must see place if you're on the landing.
Not bad. Hardly any of the figures looked like there real life counterpart.
This has been the best wax musuem yet. Good customer service. Very friendly.
Very well laid out and exciting. Had great ice cream too!
The wax figures were very lifelike and would recommend that people see it
Great place visited my daughter for r birthday s had good time
Very different and interesting.
There was a lot of veriety and the floors of horror were amazing.
Worth the price. Figures aren't kept up the greatest and most are behind glass.
Small little shop from the outside. Worth the stop. Add it to the list if you are heading to the Arch.
Ok. Some of the statues didn't look like the original. Good exercise on stairs.
Inexpensive, great little place, 30 - 45 minutes well spent.
This place was fun. It seems to be past its prime, but still entertaining.
St Louis, Missouri. 5 floors very interesting. Very real like.
It was my 2nd time going. 1st timr was with my son then took my wife this time
Awesome wax models but very Rusty and a few damaged figures.
An interesting place for children to visit while on a quick trip around St Louis.
My first wax museum experience, fun times!
Weird place, it's surprisingly small. You can see it in about 20-30 minutes.
I can call it as scary house .. we enjoyed it ..👍 …
Totally tacky and friggin amazing! Love coming here!!!
Good ice cream fun play, nice employee not to mention cheap
The wax museum is unbelievable.the displays are so realistic
Place needs more light and the wax characters need to be cleaned.
This was a small place but the wax people was cool
Nice place to visit. Cool things are there.
Total eighties style creepy wax museum
I loved every creepy moment in this place!
Fun and the staff is super friendly and knowlagable
Fun times for all
Alot of the wax figures dont look like the people
Very cheesy, tongue in cheek fun, if you're into that kind of thing. And I am.
loved it scary but fun.
Love this place
It is kinda dark and need to replace some of the light
We loved it !
Fun place to spend an hour, or two!!
Fun, a lot of stairs though.
Interesting place with several floors.
Disappointed that the scary stuff wasn't more scary.
They have remodeled and have new characters.
Small walkways but plenty of scenes.
Was really cool and artistically done
Creepy and cool!
Fun first visit needs maintenance
So many true to life characters
Mix of everything from history to horror
Very Clean NICE Music 👌 …
I love it
I loved the wax figures!

Cool figures
Budget wax museum.
A town in it self
Nice scenery
Interesting place
Neat place
Very good wax museum especially the horror part my only complaint is that alot of the animatronics (Ghostface Freddy Kreuger Regan) are completely broken i definitely think they could use a bit of repair and could use a little bit of light
manche Figuren sind nicht so gut getroffen, aber der Keller ist der Hammer!
