This place is amazing. They have preserved and tell the history of Woodstock in an interesting way. We spent well over four hours visiting the museum and walking around outside.
When we first arrived there was a band outside playing Beatles songs. I wish we would’ve went to see them first. By the time we finished in the museum they were gone.
The museum itself is chock full of exhibits to read as well as various videos and interactive exhibits. It is really well organized. They have a variety of docent led tours as well which we did not do. I have limited mobility and move slowly so I didn’t want to hold them up. We did a self guided tour.
Speaking of mobility, they are accessible for those with limitations. The handicap parking is far from the building and I would not have been able to make it with my cane or walker, it’s just too far. I had my scooter so it wasn’t an issue. However, I noticed that they have a shuttle that does go back and forth from the parking lot to the building. I didn’t see it but I saw signs for it.
The bathrooms are accessible and they also have a single bathroom for families or handicap needs. My only complaint is that they had a chair in there that was difficult for me to move out of the way. The museum itself had very few benches, definitely not enough for those of us that need to take breaks with standing or walking.
Overall, this place is a gem. We will be back for a concert and to revisit the museum. There is something for everyone in the gift shop, I spent way too much in there! They do have a small cafe that had limited options for food and drink. I did enjoy my ham and cheese croissant even though they put egg on it after clearly asking for it without egg.

Wow! Great museum, fantastic exhibits. Helps you see some of the highs and lows of Woodstock. It's hard to imagine 500,000 people converging on one place for a concert. While it didn't go as planned it ended up being an event that defined a generation. It's also kind of fun to see the old folks get out of their fancy cars and take a trip down memory lane.

This is a nice little museum commemorating one of the most important events of the 1960's. If you have any interest in the history of Rock and Roll music this is a sight to see. Staff at the museum were friendly and helpful. The museum includes a short history of the 1960's and the history of Woodstock itself. It is spread over two floors. The museum had many artifacts from the 60's decade, but was surprisingly short on artifacts from Woodstock itself. There was many audio visual exhibits which were catchy. The short movie on the history of the musical performances at Woodstock was very good. Perhaps, the best exhibits were hippie car and bus as they personified the end of the 1960's.
Seeing the grounds was an important part of the experience as well. It is hard to believe a multi-day concert with well over 400,000 people was held here on a dairy farm. The bucolic scenery is delightful.
The gift shop sells many different items, but many of the items are overpriced. The Yasgur's Farm Café was pretty good.
You should purchase tickets online as they are cheaper. Seems better to visit in Spring, Summer or Fall as they let you walk more the grounds.

So much fun to see the Woodstock site. We thought that starting the main exhibit with an overview of the 60's and the events leading up to Woodstock is a great way to explain the social and cultural environment of the times. We highly recommend spending the extra $5 for the iPad when walking the grounds. It adds a sense of awe and wonder to the whole experience.
Gina
I was only 7 yrs old when this concert was held & my brothers were in Vietnam. I grew up with this music & always wore hippie beads! It was a great experience visiting the museum. Takes you on a tour of that generation. Max Yasgur was a great man - open minded & generous. The gift shop has a lot of great items! Make sure you eat at Yasgur's Farm Cafe! Their burger is excellent. Almost a 2 hr drive for me & was well worth it!
Tom Ford
Nice mix of memorabilia, nostalgia, and context. If you grew up in the era & were immersed in the culture, you're more likely to be reminded of things you've forgotten than to learn something new, although I found a few nuggets along the way. Altogether an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
Chris Thornton
It's a bit surreal being at the site of Woodstock. I'm into music professionally and have seen video clips and heard movies for decades now. But to stand on the actual grounds was exciting. There is so much history here and there are lots of visuals on premises. The museum had tons of items to see. Exhibits were Interactive and engaging. Also found that there were groups, bands, and artists that were not announced in any publication I've seen previously, so in modern terms I found Woodstock Easter eggs! Also realized that this event was not held in the city of Woodstock but in Bethel Woods! Interesting story as to why if you're ever up north in New York state, it is worth the trip.
Nicole
Definitely visit if you're into music or Woodstock! It was very cool and interesting to see all the exhibits, art and walk the actual grounds where the festival took place. Checked off my bucket list ✔️
Frank Punturieri
First time there and it brought back so many memories. We spent at least 3 hours there. Once you go through the marvelous museum and watch the films and listen to the sounds you will get a better appreciation of what Woodstock was and meant. We then walked the grounds to visit the actual location of the concert. A lot of hills but we made it with our bad knees. You are somehow inspired by where you are. Great experience.
Samantha Coomer LeDonne
Beautiful place. Nice customer service! Great food options inside as soon as you go in to pay for the museum. Well worth it to pay extra for ipad tour.
Kenneth Weaver
This is one of the more interesting and well organized museums I have ever been too. Well worth the visit.
Stop by the country store just outside Bethel Woods for a very nice meal.
Cuti Girl
Great place to visit whether you know about the historical nostalgia of Woodstock or just want to learn. We brought our nine year old daughter who has had a strong interest in this culture since she could listen to music and she was thoroughly amazed. This is her second year there and she insisted we do the entire tour again.
Zen Kitchen
It was amazing so informative so beautiful and colorful! Great movie documentaries and lots of fun artifacts. Definitely worth a trip!
Florian Wolf
We visited in a weekday without concert, and it was far from crowded - and parking was easy and free.
Even if you’re not that interested in Woodstock or that kind of music, it may be worth your while to visit. A lot was going on politically, scientifically and societally in the 60s and this place gives you a great, immersive view into that era.
In about 2 hours you can finish your museum visit, but then there’s all the great wide outside areas to explore and enjoy. Make use of that, it’s really quite something.
The only downside may be the price - a cheeky $19,69 for an adult - but if you make the most of the stay, it’s worth that.
tracie sanchez
In case you did not know it's the sight of Woodstock and a museum to celebrate it. Full of fun video snippets and music. Loved it. Would totally love to attend an event there now.
Shanika Carlies
The scenery at this location is awesome! It was my first time visiting the museum. I was volunteering for a graduation ceremony, so I didn't get a chance to experience the museum, but when I went inside for the bathrooms, I could tell it was very nice. Definitely want to go back & check it out. The land surrounding it is massive & was the original landmark for Woodstock as well, which is pretty cool.
Susan Vartholomatos
What an amazing experience! The history of the 60's and the Woodstock Festival was so intriguing. A beautiful, colorful, and fun museum. Whether or not you were around in the 60's and love music, this is a must on your to-do list! The "bus" was the most exciting for me!!! There's also a gift shop!
Shaun Fagant
Very cool history of how Woodstock came to be. Some cool interactive exhibits.
nancy wolfe
Was so nice to show my 40 year old what it was like and how family's change but stay the same but we all have a home
Melissa Marzka
I was very impressed with the museum at Bethel Woods. A ton of Woodstock history put together in such a fantastic way. Movies were the cherry on top. So happy we came!
John Dorval
Visited the Museum At Bethel Woods today and it was nothing short of awesome. The grounds were pristine and very peaceful to walk around. The main exhibit was a spiritual experience. It was very moving. I must say that the cultural event known as Woodstock in 1969 will never again be duplicated. As divided as our nation is today we sure need an event like this.
Lisa Rodriguez
You really got the feel of what it was like. The museum was well put together.
Chiemi ChiAmy206
I had no expectations about this museum going in. Our family friend was nice enough to take us. Beautiful building, displays were nicely laid out. What made the huge impact was the docent who guided us. He told us his experience attending the festival as if we were there. In addition, he provided the historical information about social climate at that time to understand about the event. Furthermore, the music history that he gave a context about how black music influenced to everyone else were very meaningful. We enjoyed the museum very much. I highly recommend to visit this museum and take advantage of the tour.

My cousin had never been here,so no better time to come than during the holiday Arnett to shop after doing the amazing museum! I love Bethel, glad I live close enough to visit often
Pete Nowak
I went with my family this past Saturday and it was an amazing experience! The museum has a lot of great interactive exhibits and my kids loved the bus, the Volkswagon Beetle, and all the pictures and videos. This is a must for any music lover. The audience field at the bottom of the hill is a magical place to be. I didn't want to leave. I can't wait to come back!
randa dawli
Fun and very informative place.
Did not expect to spend as much time as i did. I thought that it will be and in and out kind of place, but i enjoyed every moment and i did not skip any of the film they had. Loved the history and i so wished to have libe during that time.
Kim Pope
I have traveled around about 85% of the country thus far and I have always considered myself a hippie at heart, the music of the 60's and the counterculture is deep in my spirit even though I wasn't even born yet. I have been to many museums and maybe it's just bias but the museum and grounds here are so well done you feel transported back in time. So glad I got back to the garden and in the 50th anniversary year no less. My spirit is at peace.
Carissa Casella
The museum was very interesting. There are a lot of stations and videos showing you live performances from the festival. It's really cool to be able to see those performances because it gives you the sense of being there. There are delicious food options available and a great outdoor space.
Peter M
Very impressive exhibit with lots of historical items and well-written narratives. A lot of great visuals and music. The stories highlight how polarized society was 50 years ago and how important this festival was as a cultural event. Take plenty of times me to watch and listen and enjoy the grounds.

My wife and I went to see the Young Person's Chorus of New York City at the Performing Arts Center on the Bethel Woods campus yesterday. My wife bought those tickets almost 2 years ago but the concert was postponed a bazillion times for Covid. The concert was beautiful and well worth the wait. But this is about the venue at Bethel Woods.
What a beautiful place and experience!
We didn't tour the museum to any great depth as we were there for the concert and had driven over 2.5 hours so didn't have a lot of time but we spent some time walking the property for a little bit and had lunch in the small museum Cafe in the lobby (overpriced, dry, and uninspired btw).
It's an odd setting in some regards. First, it seems they embrace the Woodstock '69 experience with near reverence given it's culturally transformative "free-love" and peace message and the inherent messy, human, counter-culture vibe but package it all up in a polished and architecturally impeccable museum and campus. I guess I expected black light posters and wet extension cords, or something more...I don't know...muddy. The guest (I) almost feels like an anthropologist studying a lab experiment. Not bad at all. Just not what I expected.
The staff seemed to be mostly volunteers and were super helpful and pleasant. Very professional. Again, I suppose I was expecting them to be puffy eyed in tie-dyed kaftans but it was matching polo's, chinos, and name badges. I admit, it gave me a little chuckle.
It's definitely worth a day trip, maybe an overnight if there's an event happening and if you can find accomodations, if for no other reason than to see the grounds, see where one of the most important culturally transformative moments took place, and to see the place that all the talk is about when your old hippie aunts and uncles get together and drop blotter. I'd go in warmer weather though. Unless it will just be about seeing a performance in the center or touring the museum, you'll want to be outside walking the well maintained paths and taking in the grand views. There was a market set up in one of the other buildings on the campus. I walked through it. Just some plastic overpriced trinkets and then some nicer artisan jewelry and soap kind of stuff. Nothing to drive over a half hour for but the vendors seemed friendly for the most part.
The outside sculptures are amazing! I want to know more about those. How they were curated/commisioned, who were the artists, why this media, etc. The balance of static monolithic - almost brutalist - sculptures inspired by such a freeform, spontaneous and empathetic communal experience is a really cool perspective.
Fun experience. Go.

It was a wonderful day at GodStock New York

Bethel Woods is most notable for the Woodstock Festival and the Museum at Bethel Woods (on the grounds) reminds us of the impact Woodstock really had on our culture! A lot I didn't even realize!!
Kathryn Lavalley
Great Place be to visit!! Take part in the tour its wonderful! First stop is the monument right next to the field Woodstock was held in! Then right up the road to the museum. Museum was so interesting. There's a little cafe there very reasonably priced and generous food portions and outdoor seating to eat. There's a Fabulous gift shop but everything is outrageously priced which ruined it so we went to Tinker Street to get the same things at half the price.

Went to the light show over the Christmas holidays. It was an amazing experience. Extremely cold, but the got chocolate was magic
Food at the end was ok. Ex

Great living time capsule of the events leading up to the Woodstock Festival and the Festival itself. Many interactive exhibits to immerse you into the era of peace love and music. We will definitely visit again when we have more time to explore in greater depth. If you are attending an event at Bethel Woods, the day of the event the admission is half price when you show your event tickets.

Fantastic place to visit with open grounds to walk around, excellent self guided Woodstock Festival display. Very good and educational museum in the basement. This place can accommodate very large groups and the building was built by true craftsmen. The 17,000 seat concert venue is beautiful.
I visit this place whenever I am in the area and I think everyone would enjoy spending some time here.
Martin Kipp
Nice to see the lay of the land where this formative event took place, but not worth $20. Interested people who are over age 60 maybe will take something away they didn't know. Like Jimmy Hendrix was last to go on and the crowd had dwindled from 400,000 to 40,000 by Monday morning...
Narniaknut
Excellent museum and the staff are ALWAYS so friendly and accommodating!!
Richard Vandevender
You have to visit this place it is so amazing!

This museum commemorates the famous 1969 Woodstock Music Festival. There is a fee to view the museum exhibits, $15 for adults and $13 for students and seniors. There are guided tours which start at certain times during the day, but I opted to view the exhibit myself.
The main exhibit features video, pictures, and text to give you a strong idea about the history of the festival. You will learn about how the festival came to end up here, and interesting things that happened during it. The exhibit is well-maintained, colorful, and has plenty to look at. Overall, I walked through in about 40 minutes, but I skipped the 20 minute movie.
The museum also has a gift shop and a small cafe (with overpriced food, of course).
I went on a chilly day so I didn't spend much time outside, but I would recommend taking a walk down to the festival field to understand the scale of the event that happened!

12/10 - highly highly recommend. My dad brought my siblings and me here on our way home from a family wedding and it did not disappoint - this is a do not miss! The museum is about all of the 1960s so we learned a lot more than we thought we would. My dad even shared some stories of how he remembered certain events in his early childhood, which was interesting to hear! Everyone working was incredibly friendly and wanted to make sure everyone had the best experience. Even the cafe was great! Thank you!

We loved this place! The museum is very cool and I liked all the videos included in the exhibit. Lots of information about the culture and social climate of the decade. Definitely worth the trip.
Aimee
The museum was super cool and the tour guides are very knowledgeable. All of the memorabilia was very interesting and really takes you back like you were at the original Woodstock. The museum is set up and flows very nicely.
Jennifer Sites
Our guide was fabulous with lots of great information. Everything is very interesting!
Catherine Warren
What a beautiful museum! It was so interesting to learn that there was very little to no tie dye at the actual event, most of the concert goers were in striped rugby shirts or no shirts at all, and practically everyone there was male. The Woodstock audience turned out to have been much tamer than imagined. However, the performances on stage and the costumes of the artists were anything but. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Santana, The Dead, and the electrifying Joe Cocker were electrifying. Take a trip to Bethel if you get the chance.
Patrick Burns
The site of Woodstock. You can feel it the moment you set foot on the grass. Picture 400,000+ people celebrating freedom, music, peace, harmony and life. The museum is not only amazingly informative, but it also pays the much due respect to the artists and musicians who helped bring so many thousands of people together. If you've never been, set a date and go. The people you'll see and talk to are just what you'd expect. Take nothing and leave only footprints. Unless of course you leave your scribe on the table or fence to keep a part of you there forever.
Kathleen Rheiner
Nice day trip! Going back to the 60's was groovy! Must see if you're from the 60's (or not).
Rik Holmes
Most amazing!! You can still feel the vibe when you do the museum then go look at the field and the memorial! Woodstock 1969 was a one off and will never ever be matched!! Peace and love!!!!
Tom G
Truly a treasure and so glad someone had the gumption to preserve this site a create this experience. The museum is really well laid out and does a great job of putting you in the shoes of one of the lucky people in attendance that weekend. There are lots of interactive exhibits, artifacts, interpretation, and they are continuing to uncover more stories through research and contributions from those who were there. You can easily spend 4 hours there. We missed the free concert they had going on that day but we could have easily spent the whole day there if we started outside first.
Jimmy Pennington
I bought a ticket to a concert solely based on it being near the Woodstock site. Woodstock happened before I was born, but I thoroughly enjoyed the museum. It's a great way to spend several hours and soak up the history of the festival.
Mary Weiz
Terrific! The architecture of the museum, the plethora of authentic exhibits, the information about each exhibit makes the Museum at Bethel Woods (Yasger's Farm) a valuable, experiential, informative, fully terrific, historically orienting, immersive experience . . . and a great value!
S Levine
Wonderful Museum that brought back a flood of memories. For younger people the comprehensive exhibits depict a long ago era and great music of the "Woodstock" concert of the century.
John E Becker
A totally awesome venue. Museum houses wonderful exhibits featuring narrations, film, images, artifacts, etc. related to the historic 3-day event that took place in August 1969. Easy to locate. Plan a 2 to 3 hour visit. Docents are knowledgeable and helpful. Stop at the gift shop. Tour the grounds. The monument site is easy to locate.
Chris M.
What a great place to go and spend the day! If you are a fan of the Woodstock concert that took place in August of 1969 please put this place on your bucket list. The museum is awesome and requires an entry fee. Veterans are discounted. The field area where the concert took place is free to visit.
Daniel Gonzalez
This place, though small is an amazing experience. The information and timeline of domestic and foreign events that revolved around Woodstock adds to the lore of the music and performers.
If you have time, carve out 20 minutes to watch the short film, well worth the price of admission alone!
Cynthia P
Woodstock! 50th Anniversary! Was expecting so much more than it turned out to be. Interesting but not so compelling. Some original documents. Good stories. Quality café. Nice staff.
Steven
We enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful area. A lot of memorabilia great photos and exhibits . I would recommend it for everyone. Peace .

You can feel the history while you are walking there.

Fun time

It was my 3rd time and I must say kudos to the curators. It just keep getting better and better. Left there feeling real good especially because it was my history.
Nick D
This museum is a nice way to capture and remember one of the most significant events of the 60's. It's a nice time capsule for a period of time the needs to be preserved and perhaps re-introduced. If you are going to be within a couple hours drive, worth a stop.
evelyn matos
Lovely museum and grounds
Mendy Rockmountain
Beautiful museum and interesting exhibits.
Pleasant staff. I would have given 5 stars. However the gift shop was totally corporate crazy. It remiinded me why Woodstock 99. Was so bad. With the 4 dollar bottle of water charge. I witnessed rioting and vanadilisim. I myself was super thirsty from not hav$ for water. ( we had several cases but we shared a bit too much. On last day we discovered that they were selling at crazy corporate prices) when we ran out already of our own supplies. S

Very nice place to do a little bit of introspective thought. Super informative 5/5 would definitely visit again.
Eran Arden
What an amazing place, don't miss this one if you are in the area. Great experience and fun way to connect your kids with such important event.
Scott Faust
What a fantastic museum did you tell the story of Woodstock! Steve took us around and was our personal tour guide. Highly recommend this museum!
Michael Bovee
Amazing. Unless you lived WoodStock or a real history Buff, then you know nothing about Woodstock! There's so much Great History that I didn't know and learned in one day, it was GREAT! Its not that big, so take your leasure time and pace and just absorb the nice, friendly, pieceful, happy atmosphere! There's also an outside patio to sit relax and get a snack/sandwich/drink if you got the munchies, there's a gift shop, art galary, OC Chopper Bike displayed, there's tours or no tours or just headsets if you prefer, handicap accessable, free parking, bathrooms, Museum is $15. You can alao drive or walk a couple block down and visit the Woodstock momument that over looks the actual Field of Woodstock! We just happened to go on the 49th Anniversary of Woodstock happen and met three separate people that lived those Three Glorious Days and had Great Stories and photos to Show and Tell which was just a Lucky Bonus of my visit that day that added to my Adventure!👍💝✌😁😍

This museum is fun and full of very interesting memorabilia. It takes approximately an hour to go through so if you are going to Bethel Woods for a concert you should check out the museum but give yourself enough time to enjoy it!!
Gene Robert
Awesome experience worth every bit of the $20 admission fee.
Nostalgia at its finest!
Don't miss the big screen short movie

Lora Klacik
A must for the Woodstock enthusiast!
David Wood
A well designed museum that has a lot in a small space. Nice 20 minute movie at the end in a surprisingly large theater.
Maria Atenas Rivera Velázquez
Perfect vibe from the days of Woodstock, along with interaction with the people of that day. The displays are always changing, the movies are interesting and worth a watch. The interactive media is a little outdated but I think they're working on it now.
John Rinaldo
Only visit this spot if you want to be temporarily transported back to the late-60's and then spend the next 3 days listening to nothing but Woodstock rock imagining what it would have been like to have been there.
Karen P
Great museum brings Woodstock to life.
Darryl Hill
Historically outstanding! I was at Max Yasgur's farm in 1969 and came back to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock at Bethel Woods center for the Arts.
David Vahue
Rock and Roll, any fan of rock music should plan a visit.

Wonderful museum of Woodstock. There was a Peter Max exhibit there as well, which was an added bonus. Everything was well arranged and the gift shop had a nice selection as well.
Reynaldo Perez
Great experience for the peace and the love excellent museum.
Henry Kramer
Nice recap of the 60s and what made Woodstock the event it was. Unfortunately I throught the ticket price was high for what it was.
Jerry Mc
If you have any love or curiosity at all for Woodstock, the culminating gathering of the hippie Nation, you need to see this museum. It's a cultural moment in time that has been beautifully captured.
Mark LoGiurato
They have done a great job preserving the grounds and curating the museum!
Kirsten Marie (Sunshine)
This museum is absolutely awesome. It is incredibly informative and immersive. You could easily spend a couple hours here, or more, if you're ready to soak it all in. I recommend going with someone who is willing to spend just as much time here as you'll want to. I will definitely be coming back someday to spend more time here and go back thru the museum to really read everything and watch all the videos.
Ervin Anderson
A gentle journey through an innocent period of our lives. The museum is organized with glimpses of then-current news events and easily read plaques of explanation. Many pictures of the Woodstock event, and original video of performances. For those who grew up in the era, it can be a very nostalgic travel through memories and events of the time. Many locals participated during the events and it was so informative to hear how ill prepared the organizers were for the sideshows that happened in conjunction. Not enough food, nor sanitation or health care. That was in addition to the logistical nightmare of getting to the Yasgur farm.
The museum tells the best story of the truly peaceful event at a time when there was so much turmoil in our country.
Barbara Kelly
I have been here many times.. They did an awesome job representing the Woodstock concert and the 60s
Chris Horn
What an awesome experience to get a visual and informative tour of such a historical event.

Immersed into 1969! ✌️ ❤️ 🌺

Tom Smith
Thoroughly enjoyed the visit! Was serving in the US Navy, and overseas in the Mediterranean at the time of Woodstock. This visit to the museum really put the era.into perspective for me. Thanks to my loving wife and great sister-in-law for taking me along

Tracey Surace
Dinner with Santa was wonderful! I highly recommend if your kids have sensory issues. It was so fun and peaceful.
Gina Kingsley
Very cool. This place really takes you back, if you're old enough to be taken back! Beautiful grounds as well. Everything was meticulously cared for. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and have an interest in the hippie culture of the Woodstock generation
Franchot Lee
It only took 50 yrs to get there but I made it , you can still feel the "Vibes" ✌
Lee Posniack
Really had a great time touring the museum. It's not very large at all, but you can spend a lot of time there. Interesting connection to what was happening in the late 60's to what is happening now.
Cost to visit isn't too expensive, however you can get free passes from many libraries. Enjoy!
Gino Madaio
The Energy here is absolutely amazing.. 50 years ago our people took to the streets and the fields , some walked for 30 miles or more and slept in the mud to join a peaceful musical protest against the war machine.. We need that spirit once more. MAY WOODSTOCK 50 SPARK OUR NATION TO UNITE AND FIGHT FOR PEACE ONCE AGAIN..
Madalyn B
I can't say enough good things about this spot. If you like music, were from this era, or have parents from this era, absolutely worth a visit. The museum is really well designed and has a great balance of text, photos, videos, and objects on display. The custom film reel they play on their big screens in the gallery is really well edited and fun to watch, especially the short film in the theater. They've collected a broad range of oral histories from festival attendees and even provide a booth where you can record your own right by the exit. For a chance find, in an area we were unfamiliar with, during the off-season, I was blown away. Huge thanks to Joe who was a fantastic tour guide.
Yvonne Wolfanger
It is worth the visit to view a part of history. You will realize that it cannot happen again only because of the way people are nowadays.
Richard Asaro
Paid extra for a backstage tour. The tour guide Ernie was unbelievable had so much info to tell us. The tour was approximately 2 hours long but felt like it went really fast.
Kimberly Byrne
I enjoyed this museum so much. The experiences were interactive and cool, lots of video and stories from attendees. There was a tour down by the stage that utilizes an iPad to show you what I was like to be at the Woodstock concert. The hill is steep and a cardio workout to get back up so if you have mobility issues, drive down instead of walking. Nice gift shop and a little cafe inside as well. Had a really lovely visit.
John S
Very nice, great place to visit, especially if you're of an age to remember those times.
Robin Walkerfaircloth
Loved it !! Awesome museum ! Definitely took me back to the 1960's .
Virgil Caine
This is the mecca for The Woodstock Music and Art Fair. I am still not sure why the historic event was called Woodstock being 65 mile away by car. I'm sure the answer is somewhere amongst the wonderful museums exhibits. This is a must for all ages that have a appreciation for history and music lovers alike. Situated at Bethel Woods. The museum is a beautiful place built on a even more majestic site. The rolling hills of this Sullivan County hamlet is the perfect backdrop for a historic event such as Woodstock's 3 Days of Peace and Music. Every artist is represented in this dedication to the festival. I will be going back to the museum with my Family in order to absorb the many, many, many details of the exhibits. I will then write a more detailed review of this awesome display of all things connected to the historic event. Please do Yourself a favor and visit this museum or even take in a concert at these grounds if history.

Lots of neat stuff to see and read. Grounds are stunning in the fall time.
Dave Rogers
Great museum. I love the Woodstock era, even though I was only three years old. And although I served in the Army for twenty-eight years, with 4 combat tours, the anti-war music is my favorite. Not as many artifacts as I thought, but enough. My favorite part was the random comments just inside the exhibit entrance. By the way, tickets are $20, but Veterans are free. And, there are free days, so research before you pay.
Daniel Urban
They put a lot of effort into capturing the spirit and history of Woodstock and it's all set in a peaceful picturesque environment you really don't want to leave.
Crystal Evans
Clean and well maintained. Such a beautiful venue all around. I will be back for sure!

One of our most favorite concert venues. Tonight was a visit to the museum and dinner out. Lucky we decided on this particular evening as it was the last night for dinner service. Great pre fixed menu, nice atmosphere, few more heaters would have been perfect but we were still comfortable.
Lisa B
Beautiful grounds and fabulous museum! Extra special treat: met Bobbi and Nick!!! Take the iPad tour for sure.
Alison Grimm
This is a really awesome Woodstock museum I didn't even realize that Woodstock happened in New York and it's just really cool and it's just something to see and something to do and I recommend that 100%
Jack O'Hara
This is an awesome venue! A true tribute to the music and musicians who performed at Woodstock! Great staff. Very friendly and helpful! A must see for any fan if 70's rock!
Joseph Zerafa
It was really neat to see, but the museum was also pretty small. Could be done in about an hour
Marjorie Grove
Amazing to not only see but hear the Woodstock experience.
Marc Altman
Spend a couple hours inside reading everything and watching all the movies it's worth it then stroll the grounds
Robert Frank
Great stroll down memory lane, and temporarily reliving my past as a youth.
Gene Calabrese
It's Woodstock, how can it not be great. We started in the museum, worked our way around. Learned a little bit more than I already new. Which was fun. Very clean. Very cool folks that volunteer there. Very knowledgeable people. Went outside , stood in the field where it all happened. What an experience.
Bob T.
This place is a must to see...the way the presentations are set up allows you the enjoy them and take your time. Try not to miss out on any of the movie presenetations, they all provide excellent information and tries to make you feel that moment in time....wear a tie-dye shirt and let your hair down...✌

Erika Novich

Bobbie Wendelken
Really nice place!
Darryl
Very friendly staff, and a fantastic museum. Nice venue to see a concert
Pat Strahl
Beautiful memories of my time at the festival with my 3 companions who are no longer with me. They will live in my memory and heart. That experience we shared, that weekend over 50 years ago, of love, harmony, music and friendship. Rest in peace my friends. Always in my heart, my soul, my history. RIP
James DeRose
Pretty cool place. I think that 20 dollars is a little expensive for a museum of this size.
Mike Theisen
What a great time. Could of stayed there a week checking out the whole Woodstock experience.
Анна Платовская
Love love this place. Very interesting place if you’re melomaniac. My son is 2,5 and even he was in love with this museum.
kyle buck
This was a lovely museum both about the Woodstock music festival and the history surrounding it. The exhibits were nice and well kept, the staff was very polite and informative, and I appreciated the precautions they took around COVID. they're currently running at 25% capacity so make sure to get your tickets early. If it's a nice day, the augmented reality tour of the grounds is also a good addition for $5.
Candy
Absolutely wonderful. Museum is very comprehensive and memorable. Loved the films and psychedelic bus and bug. Music and history was fabulous. We walked the field, stood at the stage, and visited the official Woodstock plaque. So much fun!
Dev B
If you are ready to walk down the memory lane, there cannot be a better place. Imagine freeway 87 closed, while folks walked, trekked, hitched rides to get to Yarsgur's farm. It was a different history in the making. When you arrive at Bethel Woods now, to the time you depart, you are with immediate predecessors. The museum opens the musical portal, the drive around accelerates.
william clark
Everyone should visit the Woodstock museum! I’ve been there two times could go again.
Deli Lama
The town of Bethel is pretty run down, but the venue at Bethel Woods is very nice. Very interesting Place.
James LeDonne
It's crazy to think that 450k people were at Woodstock. Just an amazing experience to see this place
Michael Williams
Absolutely fantastic tribute to one of the greatest concerts that has ever been.

Great visit! Spent more time than I thought and the walk behind the building on the field was really cool.
Steve Bender

Dr Dan Edmunds
Amazing and interesting experience. Have visited a number of times.

This museum had so much more than I expected. Excellent exhibits on Woodstock 1969
Linda Schroll
Wonderful, easy to walk around exhibit! Videos are powerful and tge final room with the concert music is great!Beautiful views from the terrace Cafe. Nice place to visit!
Ken Perna (he him)
Amazing museum for Woodstock!
Plushee One
Small museum, not much to see, best part of our visit was meeting a local who did some pre Woodstock style concerts in the area and told us crazy stories of hanging out with the bikers and the bands
SKIPJACK
Doesn't matter what concert you go to here you won't find a bad seat or grassy spot that you do not just love... Remember to not bring your own chairs for safety reasons and any bags that come into the venue must be clear... They have a great website that explains it all. the security is good the lighting after a late show is great, the parking lots empty efficiently.. the museum is gorgeous, the views of the surrounding area are lovey.
Joe Bertino
Great museum! Rich with history.
Stephanie Braski
A great immersion into Woodstock and the counter-culture and history. Bus video and bean bag viewing of video was awesome.
Tod Rodman
Fun, well curated presentation of the Woodstock experience. Some tour guides were at Woodstock... if you are lucky enough to have one of the contemporaneous guides it's a great bonus. Music, pictures, and artifacts are fun to experience. Very pleasant recently building with adjacent outdoor concert venue. Plenty of parking.
John Barndt
Great museum one of those things you don't want to miss even if you didn't grow up in the sixties
Bob Piantkowski
Nice drive in the country to get there. The building was set up very well, with plenty of seats, a nice place for lunch, clean and modern restrooms and tons of parking. I was a little disappointed in the museum itself. The exhibits were mostly photos and information plaques along with some videos of different things related to the concert and the history of the 50s and 60s. There were only a few items related to the artists themselves. Was hoping to see more instruments, clothing and other items related to the participants. Though it may be that that's all that was available to them. All in all I would recommend this place for a nice day trip because they did a nice job of it.
Allyn Young
This museum is incredible! I took my mom, Grandma, 2 and 4yr olds and we all had so much fun! The museum is small but packed with so much about Woodstock and the time period in general- world events, fashion, society, music (of course). It's very accessible for wheelchairs, strollers, etc. Parking is across the road but there's a drop off/pick up area outside the museum. And the festival grounds around the museum are gorgeous! Just wish they had vegan food options at the cafe!
Mindy Jo
One of the greatest experiences in my entire life. I learned so much. I did not like having to spend $42 for a tee-shirt. But, I had to have one. Overall, a great experience. Thank you all.
Mike Nocek
Great experience. Guided tour of the museum by an original attendee was the best.
Pat Shepherd
Very thorough presentation of the events from the planning to the three days of historical never to be duplicated collection of bands, attendees and a community opening up to help make the best of times in all kinds of weather.
Charlie Gillinder
We actually went to the holiday market at Bethel Woods. As with all events at Bethel Woods, this was done extremely well. With today's social distancing guidelines, the vendors and flow of people made me feel comfortable. Let us all hope that next year we can again return to concerts at Bethel Woods. I would recommend a visit here at any time.
Jill C
Great great place for acquiring Woodstock memorabilia if you are into such things as I am. However, be prepared to spend some bank to get such stuff. Personally? If I LOVE it, I'll get it , price is secondary. The museum is cool however, for the reasonable fee to enter, be prepared to spend an hour taking in the iconic photos, the film clips, the bus (a must) and the souvenir shop at the museum end ( though you can hit up the shop w/o the museum.).A positive experience all around, couple it w/ a show...golden.
Jason Nickell
53 years late but we made it. Had a awesome time. And look forward to the new artifacts that are being discovered.
Paula Campbell
Really beautiful fun place. The Museum was great.
Kevin Croitz
Fascinating Hippie Mecca, Peace, Love, and Understanding

Not to be missed treasure trove of Woodstock history, tour the grounds n walk n the footsteps of all the fun!
Rina E. Cohen
Great place to see the history of Woodstock and rock n roll. Includes pics, hand written notes, movie, clothing etc. Gift shop is ridiculously expensive.
Andrea S.
What more could you ask for a beautiful Museum, a beautiful concert venue, and home to one of the most historic concerts to have ever taken place. I've been here twice now once to see the grounds in the museum which is incredibly interesting to walk through especially if you're someone that loves history and loves to live back in the moment. They have it very well-marked off where the original concert was held so you can take pictures. Not sure if we were supposed to but we did walk down and stand where the stage was and took pictures no one stopped us. The second time we went for a concert we went to see Blondie and garbage it was of course an amazing concert but the venue is really beautiful. It's set back in the woods it's a bit of a walk to get to but worth it! All of the merchandise and food are on the way to the venue itself. This was a fantastic place to visit.
Anthony AMBROSE
My friend and I visited the museum three weeks ago . We were very impressed with what we experienced. The staff were both friendly and also well informed about the festival especially our tour guide.
We later walked to the actual concert site and. Monument. What a spectacular view; however,
John Sebastian's name is misspelled.I know that I cannot be the only person to notice this?
Just asking.
Cyndie Ford
Groovy! Worth 2 hour drive from Jersey to tour museum.
Froggy “Froggy” Jen
I grew up in California. I grew up hearing about Woodstock. I knew it was a festival. I knew it was big. It was mythical. Unreal.
Then I moved to New York and learned that the festival had taken place in nearby Sullivan County. That there was a museum. That there were still concerts being held. I had to see for myself!
The museum does a fantastic job of explaining how the festival came to be. The times leading up to it. I love their focus on how it impacted the local community. How it continues to influence it.
This is one of my favorite places to bring visiting friends. It's a beautiful drive out. The museum is small, but extremely informative, so it's not overwhelming. I love that it's immersive. You can easily spend a day there, or just a few hours. It depends on just how into it you get.
Highly recommended. Great value. Beautiful experience every time I go!
Steve Vavrek
So much history of more than just music
Diane Gagliardo
Fun! Very much worth the visit.
Natallia A.
OMG!!! My favorite place in Woodstock area. I am a huuuuge fan of this place and if you love music from that era and you are into music in general it's a must visit. You will learn tons. Please please please don't forget to visit the grounds, not just the museum and also go downstairs to check out more posters, details and info. You should allow at least 2 hours there. I had an interview on the phone that day so I could not enjoy it fully. I will be back! :-)
Natalya Putt
Cool museum. I just wish I had more time to read things
Andrea Breeding
If you are not a Baby Boomer you may not understand the significance of Woodstock. But it was The first mass attended outdoor concert. Important on so many levels. The museum covers the history of the concert and the social, political influences of the time. Displays are great. There are short films and a 20 minute film. Prices reasonable and includes a 45 min guided tour. Actual Woodstock site is a bit of a walk so wear proper shoes. Cafe on site with sandwiches, soups. Very good. If you don't mind driving out in the middle of nowhere, this place is a gem.
Cynthia Brown
This is an amazing place! Very much worth the trip to visit. A trip back in time, remembering all the massive historical events of that decade, not just the Woodstock Festival. Very well done. Had a nice lunch there too.
Matthew Trezza
I've used route 17 to visit New Jersey often and never knew Woodstock took place 15 minutes off the Monticello exit! I decided to visit on my last trip and I'm glad i did!!! It's an amazing place that tells the history of the event. I would definitely go back, the price was cheap and it was easy to get to.
Mary Davis
Interactive and immersive displays. Highly recommend.
Eileen Taylor
If you love music from the Woodstock days, you will love this museum! So very interesting and the guides there have a knowledge of singers and events that happened there that you never knew. Amazing!
Christine Pizzo
Beautiful venue and more intimate than I expected. No hassle except I don't own a purse that small. But that's what my husband's for.
Andrew Benesch
The museum is very well layed out. It captures what the atmosphere must have been like at the festival. The history of events during the 1960s is covered very well. I also enjoyed listening to the recordings and enjoyed the exhibit downstairs about the 1968 Presidential election.
Assaf Galin
Lovely museum, brings the essence of the time and event
Private Personal Account
Worth the trip.
Took my mother that should have been yet was pregnant with me during this time in history...
We took our time. Looking thru history ☮️ peace by year. Took about two hours.
I wouldn't take young kids.
Only down side.
Being a 50 year mile stone. Adding things, (few more) information along with pictures to a lower level did not do the whole experience any justice...
Became the let down of the BIG 50.
Recap...
Great place to experience!
Don't expect anything BIG or extra for the big 50.
Keep younger children home.
Denise Fey, Real estate Broker
The Museum is a must for everyone but most of all Baby Boomers looking to reminisce with music, photos, current events.. Dont miss this fabulous experience!!!
Jonathan Waddington
The museum was great. Lots of information and interactive videos.
Sandy Casella

Rachel Abrahams
Nicely designed and interesting exhibit!

We enjoyed our visit immensely and went back the next day to walk around the beautiful grounds. All staff was pleasant. Lunch at the farm cafe was excellent and fairly priced. The exhibits were great.
Lupana Emmet

Mitchell Berlin
The docent was wonderful and the museum was so informative for all ages
April S
I was captivated by the music and information. We had a tour guide who gave made the event come alive thru her stories. I planed to visit for 2 hours, I was there for 4. Very nice connection between the music and the world events.
Mike Tedone
Very good layout with lots of details about life in the US, from the baby boom up to the Woodstock festival. Great memorabilia and A/V displays.
Joyce Mitchell
It brings to life the Beauty, Love and Peace of the Woodstock Festivsl
Scott Mitchell
Really nice touch and informative cool videos and pictures. Everyone so friendly. If you like BBQ don't hesitate to stop at the stand on 17B closer to the racetrack. That's 5 stars also.
Kris Atchison
Loved the place and people. A winner of museums. Excellent displays. Keeps your interest. Highly recommend. Peace and love and life!
Vincenzo Aceto
There's something cathartic about visiting the site of Woodstock '69. Whether you were there, alive at the time or young enough to only hear the stories, it's an experience for anybody who loves music. The museum was full of great history and information about the festival, the patrons, organizers and world events that culminated into what was Woodstock.
Absolute Entertainment
This is an amazing Museum. Hands on. Interactive. The magic bus from Woodstock. The music the magic The Experience. Bethel Woods creates it all. In a gorgeous setting! Worth the drive worth the day bring your ears. If you want to know about the Woodstock Music & Arts Festival the buck stops here. Make sure you go downstairs as well we are the exhibits on the wall will knock your socks off!
danny lane
I could seriously live there. It's wonderful and very informative. Such a good time. Take plenty of money. Especially if you're hungry. But it's good food. Loved it. Will be back this August for the 50 th. Anniversary. Can't wait.
Lynda Benzel
Love this place. My husband was there 52 years ago it was nice to take him back there and see the museum. Excellent place
Eva Stal
Great museum. Excellent tour. Lots of nostalgia.
Shelby Sand
Front desk staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. However, the admission price of ~$20 was expensive for a museum that small with no real special, loaned, or interactive exhibits. Be sure to ask for a student discount because that knocks the price down to $10, which is much more reasonable.
John Dilemme
A great turn out, for the Holiday market.
Bruce Lessard
It was great 👍 brought back some memories thats for sure
Anita Kahan
Fun place to visit! Enjoyed it
Robert Vincent
On the actual site of Yasgur's Farm on Hurd Rd in Bethel, NY. We've been there 10+ times before the world class museum was built. Museum is dedicated to the 60's with emphasis on the music and event in August of 69. Do not miss the 2 movies in the museum theaters. The "hill" is considered hallowed ground and is fenced off. Very helpful staff with huge parking areas. New covered/open music venue. Can easily spend 6 hours. Food is limited and very so-so. So, bring your own food and have a picnic. No decent lodging nearby. Try Middletown, NY.
Karun Mukhi
A site for pilgrimage, if classic rock music and Woodstock mean anything to you. We had the most fascinating tour which detailed the events of that great moment in 1969 when half a million people took over Bethel, NY. Seeing the countryside makes you wonder how it all happened, but it did. The museum is well designed and integrated with the performance venues making this a truly special place to attend a concert.
Ian Constable (martial arts)
Beautiful events space!
Estrella Piantini
Went to see Kevin Hart's Irresponsible Tour. He was amazing!!! Bethel Woods is very strict on what you can enter, so read their rules carefully. Lawn tickets were a present and were superb. You can lay down and be more comfortable than on a seat for a higher price. When on the lawn you choose your sitting area, so it's all up to you where you want to sit. You CANNOT bring your own chair, but they rent 2 sizes. The medium ones low, so make sure you choose accordingly. Food must be brought in a CLEAR bag.. no exceptions... don't overpack. Sound is Superb!
Diane Wickert
Very informative nicely done and it was neat to see the sign where it all took place can't believe the field wouldn't have been larger with all those people there worth a visit
Jess Rothenberg
Absolutely the Best Time! Wow what a museum and such cool history.Plenty of exhibits, movies and comfortable seating to view.
Doug McMasters
I only recently discovered this museum after an on-line search. And so at the earliest opportunity found the opportunity to visit. What a place! Not only does it give you a multi-point entry into the Woodstock Festival, it also gives the cultural and historical context by offering many displays and short video-clips on the 60s. Not to be missed are the boards on the lower level that give the playlist for each band and a short description of what happened to them after Woodstock.
J P Johnson
Nice stop in the middle of a road trip, but we were enjoying it so much we were late getting to our destination. At the memorial marker we talked with Duke a attendee of the concert, is now a site interpreter, very informative, and interesting character.
Thanks, Duke.
Nicalena Neary
It is a massive property with a wonderful Museum dedicated to the three day event at Woodstock. It has interactive exhibits, videos and photos. Be sure to stop by the Woodstock Memorial located near the actual field where the concert took place.
Theresa Hall

Fast forward fourty five years from August 16, 1969, when I attended The Woodstock Music And Art Fair, to August, 2014. A buddy of mine and I decided to take a motorcycle ride to see the Museum At Bethel Woods. He was too young at age 15 to have attended the 1969 festival, but was intrigued having heard about it at the time.
We turned onto Hurd Road from a different direction off of 17-B than we did 45 years earlier, so nothing looked familiar to me. We rode down to the Woodstock monument at the corner of Hurd Rd. & West Shore Rd. As I looked at it & read the plaque, I still couldn't get a fix on where I was.
We rode back up Hurd Road, and parked in the parking lot across from the Museum. We walked across the road, and entered the museum building.
We were about to purchase tickets when the woman at the window told us the the electricity was out, so the Museum was on emergency lighting only. Story of my life!!! LOL!
She allowed us and others to go through the self guided tour anyway, free of charge since none of the interactive exhibits were operational with the electricity out.
That was ok, because we got a good sense of the exhibits anyway.
Upon exiting the building, I followed the sidewalk that leads toward the outside amphitheater where concerts are now performed. I decided to step over the low rope guide along the sidewalk to see if I could get a sense of what I saw on that August afternoon & evening of 1969. As I walked toward a large tent set up on the lawn, I came to the edge of the hill looking down toward where the stage was set up for the 1969 performances.
A whole flood of visual memories suddenly overcame me. THIS was where I stood those several hours, 45 years earlier.
I'm so glad that the site wasn't bought up by developers to build condos or something on such a historic piece of property. The Museum is very tastefully done, and is interesting and informative to anyone curious about that incredible "Three Days Of Peace And Music".
They bring in a wide variety of musical artists to perform at the covered theater with lawn seating.
I'll return someday to see one of those shows and hopefully tour the Museum with the power on!

It was at the exit of the small display of a very epic and pinnacle point in our history. Sadly wish it was much larger for what it truly meant and represent.
Most of the gifts there seem to cater more to the lady's.
