I’ve lived in the area for m any years, but this was my first visit to the top of the Foshay Tower. A fun visit even though the weather was windy and chilly. Purchase your $10 ticket at the lobby of hotel (located in the Foshay). They’ll give you a key card which will allow you access to the 30the floor, where the “museum” is located. This is a fascinating collection of artifacts detailing the history of the tower and its namesake. Worth a look for sure. Two short flights of stairs up and out the door you’ll be at the open-air observation deck. Check out my pictures to get an idea of the view. Highly recommended!

Small museum dedicated to the history of the building and its creator (who had a checkered background). Great views of the city. There are many artifacts but not much explanation about them or the building and the man. Allow about 30 minutes. Buy a ticket (a key card) at the front desk of the W Hotel and they'll tell you how to get to the museum (separate elevator).

Visiting the Foshay was a great history lesson. Great views and easy to do. Museum was fairly small for what I thought might be. But that was okay, the observation deck was amazing to see downtown Minneapolis!

$10 per person to get in. The entrance to the building is a little hard to find and I ended up walking around the block before finding it. When reaching the top floor you have to walk up some stairs to get to the observation deck which is much narrower than I had expected but it had a great view. I would not suggest going in the winter although you can because it gets a little icy and slushy up there and there were some spots where I was walking in maybe an inch of water. It is also cold although there are some vents which send warm air out but it’s not much compared to how cold it gets. Overall it was an enjoyable experience but I’d suggest either dressing warm or going in the summer.

We visited Foshay Museum and Observatory on 1st Jan. I read about it online before checking it out in person. The museum includes historical details on life of Mr Foshay and ups and downs in his life. This is a good spot to spend 1-2 hour and the sights are beautiful from the observatory deck.

Not advertised anywhere. A well-kept secret! Just ask the front desk at the W Hotel for a ticket to the observation deck. Go on a nice day as the observation deck is open-air. Well worth the $10 admission just for the views!

I didn’t know that Minneapolis had an observatory deck until 2 weeks. To my surprise this is one of the coolest spots for an sunset experience. The view was amazing giving you a miniature version of the city. It also one of the historic monument and was the tallest building in Minneapolis until 1972. I would definitely go again just for the experience.

Excellent even with temperatures below zero. The observatory deck has heat ducts on every side of the building that keeps the area tolerable. The museum itself ia a collection of Foshay artifacts primarily. Interesting to look at at learn the history. Wonderful views of the skyline and surrounding areas.

Nice to check out, great views, but being 30 stories is blocked by newer taller buildings. Museum area has some interesting artifacts from the old days. The touch screens did not work when I was there also, they are supposed to be informative about the building. 12 dollars is a bit steep for what you get, should be about half. Employees very helpful and friendly. Depending on how much you see and read could probably take about 45 minutes.

This was pretty cool for the Stephen king shining elevator bit and it’s a short lived experience BUT really actually quite iconic and interesting with all the views and history presented in this sketchy neighborhood and you can explore the lobby a bit downstairs without anyone getting fussy.

What a great experience, tons to read and learn in the museum, worth the price to me. Being to look out and see all of the city was a site that took my breath away! If you are afraid of heights I do not recommend this. You start out by going 30 stories up in a elevator then it puts you right in the museum. Once you finished looking through the museum you can walk up another couple flights of stairs you get to push the door open to the caged in observatory. It's a little cramped on space but definitely a ton of fun! Highly recommend!

From my phone call to the information line on the website, to our arrival, the staff was top notch! There are few places left that understand what customer service, attitude, and an excellent experience in hospitality TRULY are. We were elated with our experiences! From the people attending the doors who look at you, engage with you, and take in the moment, to the fantastic woman, welcoming you with her eyes and warm smile as you approach the desk. To our delight and complete surprise the fee for the day had been waived to all as a courtesy of the manager. Another plus! It is disappointing to hear the complaints of the pricing... I have paid as much to park my car and not recieved near the enjoyment. My son and I drove 2 hours, endured horrific delays in road construction to see this destination - One of his Museum bucket list items... We were not disappointed ❤ We want all of you there that day - Sunday, October 27th 2019 after 4:00pm to know, not only is the Museum and the look out tower great, but it was all of you that made our experiences Spectacular! Thank you so very much

Since I like getting up in high places like this observation deck, it was probably worth the expense. our visit took place on a cool winter day, and it was nice to have the warm air venting on one side of the tower.Perhaps the expense keeps away people who might other wise detract from the experience. A little museum offered some insight into the process of who foshay was.

I thought no I'll pass, but I'm glad I went because it was really interesting about the items they had on display,about foshay building when it was built. And the two ladies at the spot you pay, were so helpful very nice ,that was so cool!!! Don't you pass this up if in town.

Very cool interesting. Foshay seemed like a really cool guy. Hotel is beautiful and knowing the history makes it a-little more special in my mind. Observation balcony is sooooooo cool. Very windy and high up. You can see almost all of downtown Minneapolis. Also they have a few binoculars so you can get some closer looks at things. Great overall experience.

I had a great experience when I visited the Foshay Tower this summer. Very easy to pay to get your card to go in the elevator up to the top floor. This is a historic building so I do understand that it is a bit smaller than the larger buildings that you can find in the city, but it is still tall enough to get a great view of the city of Minneapolis and beyond.

A hidden gem! It does cost a little for admission unless you are staying in the hotel, but on occasion staff will allow you up for free. Once you are up there, there is a whole floor of history about the city and of the building. Next, make your way up the stairs to the only open air observatory deck around and check out the spectacular views! Bring your camera, it's one you will remember for a while!

What a great experience while in Minneapolis. The hotel staff were very welcoming of our little family wanting to go up to the 30th floor. When there, we walked through the small museum and enjoyed learning the history. The views from the deck are great. A beautiful, unique way to see the city.

I have been here a number of times but it had been years since the last visit. The Foshay Tower, once the tallest skyscraper in Minneapolis, now dwarfed by others, offers a stunning bird's-eye view of the city. Previously an office tower it now is an upscale Marriott hotel. Elegant and classy. And so nice that the hotel has allowed the observation deck to remain open. This would be an amazing place to stay while visiting or just simply stopping by to dine or take in the night life. Be sure to check it out!

There are a lot of fun relics from the construction of this iconic Minneapolis building in the museum. Of course the observation deck is extremely fun and you're able to view a lot of different areas in the Twin Cities. It's well worth the money to go up to the top and very fun for a local to try and spot personal areas of importance.

The view from the observation deck was amazing. I have lived here a long time but never visited the Foshay Tower. Get tickets and enter the right side elevator in back of Manny's...I highly recommend it if you are showing the city to visitors. Pick a clear day.

This is located in the W Hotel, and accessed by a dedicated elevator. You can get tickets at the front desk. The real attraction is the observation deck, the museum is small and not very impressive. It does have some interesting tidbits about Minneapolis history, the Foshay building, and it's founder. The observation deck is neat. Maybe not as tall as other monuments or observation decks, but offers a great view of Minneapolis. When we went, it was midday on a Friday, and we spent about 20 minutes on the observation deck, completely alone. It was like a private experience, and despite being cold outside, the observation deck was bearable without a coat. We were able to get up for free as hotel guests. I'm not sure if there are other discounts, but in February 2017, they were charging $8/adult to access the museum/observation deck. If you are in the Foshay, it's also worth checking out the bar on the 27th floor. Great views and historic vibe.

The "museum" is a bunch of photos, give yourself 10 minutes. The views are wonderful, especially at sunset and dusk in winter as the lights show the innards of the surrounding buildings. No heights fear induced, you are caged in, and the air vents on each side give a blast of warm air to make it tolerable to stand and admire.

BEAUTIFUL observation tower perched on the first skyscraper in Mpls. They even have a delightful display with historical artifacts, news clippings, and videos. Lovely art deco architecture throughout. After you're done, head downstairs for delicious pie and coffee at Key's Cafe, or grab a meal. You won't be disappointed!

Pretty cool views from the observation deck. The museum is small but pretty interesting. It would be better if it was more apparent how to gain admission. Pay at the hotel front desk, get a key, and ride the elevator 4. Easy enough, but there's no signage.

Wir waren im Hotel Foshay einquartiert und waren somit sofort per Lift mit dem Museum, aber auch mit der besten Aussicht über Minneapolis ausgestattet. Der Blick tagsüber, aber besonders bei Nacht ist gigantisch. (Translation) We were staying at the Hotel Foshay and were therefore immediately connected to the museum by elevator, but also had the best view of Minneapolis. The view during the day, but especially at night, is gigantic.

(Translation) An excellent place today, Wednesday, March 17, we arrived at this place and the receptionist greeted us very kindly and told us that we were lucky because admission was free on this day because it was Saint Patrick's Day and she let us get on the elevator alone to the top of the floor 30 and they even lent us the key that controls the elevator, very friendly staff in general and the Museum is located in the upper part of the Tower with a museum about the history of this very tall tower and in the viewpoint with 4 vinoculars to see for all sides of downtown with a beautiful view of this beautiful city of Minneapolis Minnesota and they told me the price and for me it was very little worth getting to this place even if I have to pay I loved it I highly recommend it for the whole family everything very safe a unique experience I want to congratulate the receptionist at 1:45 pm thank you (Original) Un Excelente lugar hoy miércoles 17 de marzo llegamos a este lugar y la recepcionista nos atendió muy amablemente y nos dijo que teníamos suerte porque era gratuita la entrada en este día por ser san Patric's Day y nos dejó subirnos al elevador solos hasta arriba en el piso 30 y hasta nos prestó la llave que controla el elevador muy amable el personal en general y el Museo se encuentra en la parte alta de la Torre con un museo sobre la historia de esta torre muy alta y en el mirador con 4 vinoculares para ver para todos los lados del downtouwn con una vista hermosa de esta bella ciudad de mineapolis Minesota y el precio me lo dijeron y para mi se me hizo muy poco vale la pena llegar a este lugar aunque tenga que pagar me encantó lo recomiendo mucho para toda la familia todo muy seguro una experiencia unica quiero felicitar a la recepcionista ala hora 1:45 pm gracias
