Reviews of Plantation Agriculture Museum

What a great place! I've lived in Arkansas my entire life and I never knew this place existed. It gives you the true experience of what it was like for cotton farming and everything that goes along with it. And I think it does it cleanly and honestly
ron bennett
If you're a history buff, then this place is a must see.
Arkansas, agriculture, industrial machinery, and cultural history all rolled into one SP.

A trip back in time from horse drawn implements, to steam and to modern day farm life. A peek at the life style of my parents and grand parents.
Casey Campbell
Great place to take the kids to learn about the history of agriculture.

This museum was very nice located not far outside of North Little Rock. The museum offers multiple indoor and outdoor exhibits. It will take you about an 1.5 hours to see everything if you stop and ready about every exhibit. Make sure you check the hours of operation on the Arkansas State Parks website before venturing over there. All in all this is a nice little museum to visit.
Karen Hudson

Stephiane Stovall

Very cool to see industrial and agricultural history.

I was surprised by this museum. I expected to bust through it in an hour. Instead I found a very thoughtfully laid out State Park. The museum store is cleverly laid out like a general store. The interior exhibits are well curated; I found the signs to be informative, but brief. The collection of antique tractors is a treat! We loved being able to pick little pieces of cotton and soy from the example plots planted between buildings.
My favor part was the baling building that had all the original machinery in place to be viewed, as if the machines could be started back up at any time.

Cute little museum!
Wandering Native
Wow! What a gem! Stopped by on the way to the Toltec Mounds and found this museum to be infinitely more interesting.
The museum area is small but informative. Staff were friendly and helpful
Definitely explore the grounds though! If you don't then you've really missed out. The cotton gin, seed barn, and tractor collection are very cool. I look forward to bringing friends and family back to visit. Thanks!

Wonderful things to see in History, showing from whence this Great country has come and although we still have a lot of work to do we will keep trying, our God has us all in his hands but what we do , to whom, why, all those are on us for we have free will and our Great God does and will forgive if we but ask
Michael Smith
Just saw this on the way to the Toltec Park and made a quick pit stop. We didn't go to all of the buildings, just the main museum. It is free admission for self guidance and very nice. There isn't a map to guide you through the other properties and we really didn't have the time to do it anyway. It definitely seems to minimize the aspect of slave labor that was used during the plantation era, only a small wall with the estimated numbers of slaves in the state. Mixed feelings about this one.
Robert Caldwell
Great place glad the state of Arkansas was able to restore. Most of the stuff they have is a soon to be gone from history the way people know how farming is and was. Very neat stuff how they have decorated and put together
Tabatha Reeves
It has a really informative museum about agriculture in the South. The staff is friendly and helpful. The building is are well kept. It's definitely a hidden gem in Arkansas!
Dennis Simpson
There is nothing quite like a state park like the plantation Museum to remind you how heavily we are invested in agriculture and how many changes there have been through even the last 50 years... The museum staff were exceptional we showed up on a cold Sunday afternoon and they were gracious and kind and kep the doors open and the building is warm for us... There is a real live operating cotton gin a display of all the agricultural different options that are available on the Delta... And many displays showing how the life of the average Delta resident has changed over the last hundred years because of mechanization automation and the tens of thousands of displaced workers cause there by
John Donna
Very interesting indoor exhibits about pioneer/plantation life & sharecropping. Lots of amazing heavy equipment & implements outdoors, and the old cotton gin. Only about 4 miles from Toltec Mounds, also highly recommended.
Frances Rainwater
This is a really neat place that takes you back in time When they have the “High Cotton on the Bayou” festival, volunteers demonstrate how things were done back in the old days. Such as butter making, cooking outdoors on a Dutch oven, etc.
dewayne bennett
Really a good place to visit. Takes you back in the past. The staff are really knowlegable about what they show. When we were there we got to actually gin some cotton. Awesome place
Casey Crocker
This Arkansas State Park showcases the cotton industry in central Arkansas. I learned what boll weavals actually ate and where the terms "high cotton" and "fair to midlan" come from.
It's a great place to go see how a cotton gun actually works. Toltec is north if you want to see how the native Americans worked these soils, too.
Matthew Kull
Very interesting place!

Two years ago...I'm sure much more has been added. We didn't allow enough time to fully appreciate fully. Another visit needed and planned.
