Reviews of Space Center Houston

Fascinating place filled with an immense amount of knowledge and information! Whether you’re a space enthusiast or not, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy. The facility is neatly organized and laid out with various sections and areas. Additionally, maps and employees are everywhere to assist with navigating.
Tickets are very reasonably priced and allows for free roam to choose what activities/exhibits you would like to visit. The only restriction is how much time you have to spare. They have 3 itinerary plans that corresponds to how much time you would like to stay there - 2 hours, 5 hours, 7+ hours. The choice is yours!
The only recommendation for change with the facility is to make the prices for photographs more reasonable. Upon entering, everyone gets a group photo taken (which we all know those are never FREE).
In fact, they’re $30 here, which is essentially the price of another entry ticket which is absolutely asinine. Many people were just taking pictures of the kiosk screen of the group photo instead of buying it which I don’t blame them.

My family and I visited the Space Center in Houston and it was great! Staff were courteous and helping and the facilities were very clean! We purchased the City Pass because we were only in the area for Spring break so we used it for other venues. The wait was fast. Literally, never stopped walking through the line until we arrived at purse check and then again to scan the electronic tickets. We went on a Tuesday. We spent all day there and still did not see everything. Get Tram and virtual rides tickets early because they sell out fast.
The exhibits were very interesting and kept our 10 year-old daughter engaged. The two virtual rides were awesome. It was as if we were truly in space. Loved it!!
We all left with huge smiles on our faces and vowed it was well worth the money and will be on our list to return to.

Visited again after many years. What a great place. So much to do and see. Lots of educational exhibits. Great gift shop. Food cost was really good considering the captive audience. Come for the day. The tram tours fill up so need to book those virtually as soon as you can. It can get crowded.

This place is amazing, would recommend coming when it first opens. We got there by 930am and there was a line on a Saturday already. We reserved the blue tram when we got inside and did the tour which was super fun. Some I had little ones doing the blue tram was a better option. Also, I recommend bringing cash. The gift stores credit card machines were not working and we couldn’t get nothing. Next time, we will be more prepared. Wish we could have deep dived every corner but having toddlers it was kinda hard.
Pro tip of photos, utilize your panorama setting on your phone. You’ll be able to be in the picture with rockets. Have walking shoes and water on hand. They don’t allow selfie sticks or extra camera set ups.

So much to see! I'd recommend a bit of planning and arrive early if you want to do a tram tour as they fill quickly! Also be prepared for lots of people. They have a nice food court but we took a bottle of water with us as the vending machine was $3.60 for 1 bottle! Water fountains are available. It was quite educational and fun
Ashley Burton
We had such a great time here! Two adults and one youth. There was a lot of information to learn. I do suggest doing the guided tour in the starlight gallery; the tour guide was amazing and had such interesting stories! If you have young kids there are a few interactive things here within the exhibits but not a lot. There’s not a lot of interactive things going on for older kids. I do wish there was a lot more interactives throughout each exhibit. There is a lot of reading so be prepared for that! It took us about 2-3 hours to go through everything at a decent pace.
Sinéad Browne
Incredible place! Honestly, one of the best places I've ever visited. So much to see and do here. Don't miss the tram tours, they are amazing, especially the white tour where you get to see the command centre. Take the time to watch the presentations too, they are super interesting. Also, definitely check out the plane and shuttle in Independence Plaza. So interesting!

Perfectly organised and well arranged and huge museum. I recommend to come before 10 am and purchase the ticket either online or in the kiosk left to the entrance. I spent over 4 hours and easily could spend more. I definitely recommend going to watch both movies available. Also board the train/tram and make a round around to see where all the scientist work. Many attractions are made for kids but even as a adult person I really enjoyed it.
Big thing for me was "Touching the moon"! Wow.
Their gift and souvenir stores are both well equipped. Only sad thing is that some L and XL t-shirts were not available. But there is a huge selection anyway. I also like the "Ground Control" food court.
Don't forget to download their mobile app for details.
Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Houston.
Debbie Swieca
I loved it...there are some exhibits inside the main area that really don't deserve to be there as they don't work. They need to be updated or removed. Apart from that if you are into space exploration there is a lot to see. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The food court has adequate variety from salads to burgers and sandwiches and the prices aren't exorbitant compared to some places can be with a captive audience.
Bobby Trogden
This was a fun place to take the kids. I feel it’s a little pricey for just walking thru yourselves. It was educational and cool to see. Having a Q & A with and astronaut was sweet. I loved watching my youngest son, he’s all into that stuff and was amazed. Definitely a cool place to take the family. The place was clean and the food court they have was pretty good also.
Rachel Iverson
What a cool experience. If your science nerve this is definitely worth a spot! I only took off a star because it was extremely crowded which felt very uncomfortable due to the pandemic. I wish they had staff limiting how many people could enter small areas at a time. This is a great place to take kids, but I want to be interactive exhibits.
Mark Nickel
Fantastic place to come ready to learn and see about many details, mock up exhibits for those who've traveled to space or will soon. Be aware, the shuttle you see and board was not the real shuttle used in flight. There are many activities for kids as well, but I do wish there were a little more interactive things for adults besides movie screenings and clips or interactive survey questions to keep it fresh and relevant for the whole family. The experience and lighting is beautiful and clever in how scenes are created if you look up from time to time to feel as though you're almost really there.
Eric Gotham
Wow! I was a little dismissive going into this. I've been to the Smithsonian in Washington. Been to what I thought were similar museums in San Diego, Seattle and Chicago. I thought I've seen my fair share of technology and flying things. What more could this have? Boy, was I wrong. It was fascinating to see how far we've come in such a short amount of time. And what was accomplished when the technology was only then being created is mind boggling. Parking was convenient. The cost for admission was fair. I think there was a restaurant on site - we didn't try it. The gift shop is cool. You can definitely find something to get to remind you of a great visit
Jenifer Woloson
Really cool place to check out. The tour was fun and informative. There is a ton of interactive and informative areas. Kid friendly but still a good time for adults. Make sure to get the app so you can get in the tour line virtually before hand (super helpful since it let's you know when it's your turn so you can have fun while you wait).

My family visiting from Germany requested to visit NASA and I happily took them on a 5 hr Roadtrip to enjoy this venue. We took our own children when they were 5 and 8 and our son studied Astrophysics because of that experience. I would highly encourage every child to get inspired here. So taking my niece, brother and sister-in-law here was a great joy.
We intentionally went during the week and before US summer vacation to avoid large crowds. We didn't have to wait, got to experience all hands-on activities, got up close and never felt rushed or pushed.
Our timing was perfect.
Personally, I didn't like the parking situation. My android never loaded the correct page to pay by phone and it stressed me out greatly. Thankfully, my brother's phone worked and I didn't have to worry about being towed. Consider senior citizens when you digitize all these parking lots. We don't live vicariously through our phones and it gets annoyingly stressful.
I appreciate the many sanitizing stations, wipes, and ways to stay safe. There were also good food options, a bit pricey but at least available.
Emma Fisher
I visit a lot of attractions and can hand on heart say this was my favourite day out. It's full of fascinating things to see.
If you can book on to one of the tours white (Mission Control) or blue I would highly recommend both.
The staff were all very welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
There are lots of interactive features for tje young and young at heart.
Dilafruz Sultanova
If you would like to make the most of your visit and take both Red and Blue tours, I recommend downloading the Space Center app. The Red tour will visit the Astronaut Training Facility and Blue tour will visit the mission control center. Both tours will visit the Rocket Park where the Saturn V is on display and both tours takes about 90 minutes.
We visited this place on a Monday morning and there was not any line at the ticket booth nor at the entrance. There was also plenty of parking. The cost of parking is included in your ticket.
As soon as we got to the museum at around 10:30 am, we signed up for the Blue tour. The app informed us that our turn would come in about 1.5 hours. This gave us time to explore the museum and its vicinities before we would go on a more comprehensive tour. About 30 minutes later, my friend signed us up for the Red tour (you cannot sign up for 2 different tours on the same app/phone). This worked out perfectly because as soon as we finished the Blue tour (Astronaut Training Facility tour), it was our turn to go on the Red tour (Mission Control Center).
I have not been to the Nasa Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island so can't really compare the two.
Tiffany Blair
This place has something for everybody! Our group spent 5 hours here, and honestly could have spent another hour or two to really see everything. I definitely recommend looking on the website to see what each tram tour covers to ensure you find the best tour/tours for you. You must reserve your spot on the tram tours, which is free to do through the Space Center app. Also, I highly recommend reserving a space for any of the virtual reality attractions, if that is something you are interested in. We arrived at 1 pm, and all spots were taken through the end of the day!
RuSh
We visited there a couple of weeks ago. Kids enjoyed a train 🚂 ride. Kids liked it but don't know how much they enjoyed it. You need to reserve a train ride, so reserve it right away using the app or an information desk. We did not buy pictures there but bought them on their website and it cost me $20 for all pictures. …
Mehnaz Kapadia
Amazing amazing place to visit, explore, learn and be amazed at the achievements and advancements in Space Exploration and travel that USA has made! Had a great time visiting with family and can easily spend an entire day here and still feel marveled at everything you see! It is recommended to buy tickets online in advance and then immediately on arrival, get into the virtual tram tour since they fill up really quick! We got to enjoy two tours which were so informative and cool! Truly spectacular and a must place to visit for every space enthusiast or not!
DeLisa Donnelly
Not at all as big as the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, but still a good place to visit and learn about the History of human space travels, etc. Very interesting, and educational. Entrance fee is average, but loved how they offered military discounts. Lots of parking spaces were available on the day we went which was on a Saturday in Jan 2022. Clean facility. You have to wear facial masks at all times due to Covid. Interactive displays. When you enter into the facility, make sure to make arrangements for your free Appointment Only Tour Tram rides at the Guest Services area. They only allow so many people on the Tram rides due to capacity.
I gave this place 3 stars because of the extremely rude and despicable way customers were treated in the Gift Shop towards closing time. A Manager in the Gift Shop announced in the store speakers that they will be closing the store in 10 minutes. He adamantly announced to ALL the shoppers and supporters of this facility to, "Make your last choice, and fall in line right now. I will be walking around the Gift Shop, and if I see you still shopping, I will have you personally escorted by our security guards out of this facility." We absolutely did not like his announcement. We felt like peasants being forced to get in line. We only spent $125 on items, but I can guarantee it that we would've spent a lot more if we didn't hear such a bullied-type demanding announcement. Never have I ever heard of such a thing. People waiting in line to check out were also complaining on how rude the announcement was. His behavior makes Americans look bad towards visitors from other countries. What a horrible way to end our fun visit.
Another reason why this facility gets 3 stars from us was because the Tour Guide from our Tram ride kept making mistakes the whole entire time. After all her constant mistakes and apologies, it was difficult to believe anything she had to say. We recommend at least giving your Tour Guides a cheat sheet to look at if they are unsure of themselves. We know there's a lot of history to remember, but if the Tour Guides are the teachers, and the visitors are the students, it would be nice if they have the right information to begin with.
Maria Velasquez
We thought we would only be there a few hours and ended up spending the entire day.
Went on all 3 tours and the mission control was definitely our favorite. Plenty of food option for everyone. There are 2 gift shops. Fans setup outside which was helpful on this very hot day. The lines moved quickly everywhere. Lots of helpful staff all over too!
LV
Great place to visit with family & friends. Tons to experience and they have different engaging showings along with a large cafe. They take great pics of you and you can purchase before leaving. Huge space store. Astronauts come out throughout and you can take pics with them. They also have a tram but get there early or book tram early because it sells out quickly. Avg price is like $30 per person
lundyn roberts
An amazing experience with great tours and exhibits! Be sure to book the White Tour as soon as you can, it'll go fast. To use the mobile app to book any of the tours you'll need to be close to where you line up for the tours in order for the app to work correctly. Being inside the food court seems to work well.
A great place to visit for space lovers of all ages.
Amanda Morris
Super interesting! There was a big line and crowds when we arrived for the earliest check in (10am) but it moved really quickly. We pre purchased tickets and that cut down the line time A LOT! If you love space then you'll love the Space Center. The staff are friendly and it's clean and easy to navigate. We looked at everything had a snack and did a Virtual Reality ride and were done in about 3.5hrs. The tram tour will add an additional couple of hours to your day going by wait and tour times (we didn't do the tour this time) but we will next time! Great fun!

My first time to NASA space center and it was for the Galaxy Lights experience during the winter holidays. This was such a great family fun event. The lights were festive and many were space themed. They also open some of their regular exhibits and the kids zone during the galaxy lights nights. Highly recommend bringing the whole family to enjoy.
Laurel Hoffman
We came here as part of a school field trip. We had a fantastic time after hours in their facility exploring the exhibits and learning from their STEM instructors. They helped the kids build rockets, program robots, learn how to investigate mysteries by tracking down clues. The sheer amount of space artifacts and history here is incredible. Each display is thoughtfully laid out, but I will say the outdated maniquin people were a bit frightening. DEFINITELY TAKE THE TRAM TOUR! This was by far the best part of our time here. They took us out to see the Saturn v rocket as well as building 9 where they train astronauts and work on robotics. The tram tour is where you see the real work going on...science and engineering etc. I can't wait to come back here!
The bathrooms are plentiful, clean and easily accessed from everywhere.
They have a spacious and clean food court.
There are two gift shops available and neither one was very crowded the next day when it was open to the public. I will say that some of the gift shop items were shockingly overpriced compared to other gift shops I've been in at other places in the past. For instance, a backpack was $90 and a basic pen was $7.
John Sellers
What a great experience. Such wonderful history and exhibits. I would definitely recommend buying tickets in advance, especially for the, not to be missed, Mission Control tour. The facility was well organized and clean. Food and beverage offerings were well above “theme park” standards. Lines moved generally quick and seemed well managed. If you go early do the Shuttle and plane first as the line was very long in the afternoon. Didn’t take too long but luckily it wasn’t hot out. Would definitely recommend the training center and rocket park add ons as well.
Aleksei Martin
The space center is an absolute must see the attraction. We spent almost the entire day there and weren't bored at all.
If the price concerns you, check out trip advisor or other services - they offer cheaper admission.
The food options are decent, so there are no worries about being hungry at all.
Finally, make sure to download their app, it makes tram booking easier.
Emaad Paracha
One of the coolest space museums out there and I'm sure lots of people will agree. Even though the main concourse has a couple of cool exhibits like the space shuttle and other exhibits inside, the real deal are the tram tours to see Saturn V, the astronaut training facility, and mission control center! Super cool stuff and definitely a must visit for any space fan!
Kyle Hauk
Pretty cool place. Tours are a must. Did the mission control tour & it was great. No charge for the tours, $30 to enter the center. Very informative. I highly recommend this stop, it's educational, historical, & just plain fun.
Aziza Nahar
Perfect place for your Saturday family tour with kids.
We took the blue tram tour. It was nice. There is total three tram tours. Thank
You should go early to try all of the three.
The tour inside the space station was amazing.
Food court is reasonable too.
jesse federbush
Lots of interactive activities for kids, Los of reading for the adults, very exciting to see the evolution between rockets.
If going, Sunday was especially slow and we were there for approximately 4 hours.
I would suggest eating prior to otherwise mediocre cafeteria food is what you will get.
I need to recognize one of the volunteers in the exhibit out at the tram, Ken was possibly one of the most amazing people I have ever spoken with, he is passionate, patient, knowledgeable and friendly. If you get the chance to speak with him please do as it is worth it!
Gabriela Miranda
This was my second time visiting the space center and I enjoyed my time there. They had the moon2mars exhibit which was fun and educational. I do feel that this center is heavily focused on kids, so I do wish there was a bit more things to do for adults. Nonetheless, everything was great! The staff are friendly, the place is kept really clean, and it's still worth a visit!
Alyssa Hahn
What brings this down to 4 stars is simply the enormous amount of people that were there. However, our group was able to participate in the Blue Team Tour which I highly recommend. Also plan to watch the half hour long movie. It will be easy to spend a large amount of money on the gift shop,so be prepared. Kiosks are available pay in the food court. Make sure you do NOT throw your entry ticket away after getting in just in case you need to go back in. Plenty to do, plenty to see. I highly recommend a visit!
Honeymooners Offroad Adventures
Very nice place to visit and learn about space. Lots of hands on areas and the train tour is free with entry fee. We spent hours here looking at everything and would still go back another time for more. Reasonably priced, food was a bit expensive. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the area.
Shakleen Ishfar
As someone who is fascinated by space and technology, I loved visiting this place. My only issue with this place is that there is just simply too much stuff to see for just one day.
If you're visiting, make sure you get the paid tram tour to the mission control center. You'll get to see the historic mission control from their Apollo 11 era. And a short recreation of the control room environment during that historical moment.
missy saunders
Incredible day at Space Center Houston! We had a crew of over 25 and had no issues splitting up and seeing all of the exhibits in smaller groups. We were able to schedule Red and Blue tours for everyone. Don't miss the Saturn V tour! It has been impeccably restored and is housed in a huge air conditioned hanger. We did choose to eat off-site and had no issues with re-entry. Our favorite was the NASA 905 and shuttle, and seeing an astronaut being fitted into the ARGOS! So much cool NASA past, present and future. This was our first time here in years and it was a great day with cousins!
Brandy Galloway
A MUST see. There's a great tram that takes you to see so much more. I HIGHLY recommend advance tickets for tours and simulation experiences. They sell out quickly. The food court area has a coffee bar, market and a couple other dining options opening soon. We will definitely be back! Lots to explore and do here.
Natalie Acheson
Excellent place to visit if you like space and history of space exploration! Don't forget to use you ASTC Reciprocal membership!! We enjoyed both of the team tours and explored the museum for a couple hours too. I did not enjoy their app they use to sign up for the tours but we were able to get it to work enough to get on both tours. It was a weekday in February so it wasn't very busy.
Brian Brenner
Go early. Our reservation time was 10 but would have gone at 9 or even 8 if we had considered how long the lines would be by 11. Our advice is to book the white tram tour as soon as you arrive. Use the SCH app to do so. The red and blue tram tours are also worth your time but white is where it is because it’s the Mission Control room and let’s you experience the lunar landing in 1969. Enjoy it because it truly is a national treasure.
Dan Wells
Friendly staff and great exhibits. They offer military discount as well. Slight lack of communication between staff at entrance, as we were directed towards one line, then redirected to the other line and back again by entry personnel. But overall wonderful experience for the entire family.
Jonathan Greenstein
Space Center Houston is an awesome opportunity to learn about the past space missions, those underway and those planned for years to come.
Featuring interpretive exhibits, artifacts from space to include real Moon rocks and space vehicles that you can see up close and in the case of one Moon rock- actually touch it.
Lots of displays, videos, and more to explain the individual items. Volunteer staff as well as astronauts are on hand to provide details.
Definitely plan several hours to experience the entire facility and download the App to help plan your day and book tram tour tickets in advance as they fill up quickly. The tram tours have multiple options to include the rocket assembly facility and the space vehicle mock-up facility where they are actively working on real world space programs.
There are multiple dining options from grab and go to hot prepared foods and fresh salads. Some allergy friendly options are available to include gluten free choices. Prices are reasonable.
The gift shop is a must visit - with everything from NASA branded t-shirts to jackets, hats, hoodies and accessories to current and past space project gear, posters, patches, cups, pins and more.
Handicap accessible parking and facility to include ramps, elevators and restrooms.
L Is so cool
This place was ABSOLUTELY stunning. You got to play space themed games, explore the future of rockets and spacecraft, and MUCH more. Many relics from the past that they used in space were seen everywhere, whether it came to space suits or shuttles. On aside of that, the food was great. My family and I had a blast coming here, and so will your family. 👨🚀
Robert Novak
This was our first visit in about 20 years to show a relative. Even though it was great then, it is much improved and is now fantastic. Most of the exhibits are inside but Rocket Park and the Space Shuttle with 747 transport are outside. The exhibits are well explained and many are interactive. The most popular have plenty of stations for multiple participants. We didn't realize that we needed to make reservations for the 3 tram tours and only 1 was available by 1pm and still had an hour wait. But we had time to see another exhibit while waiting. There a food court with plenty of tables. Well worth the time and trip.
Jeetendra Kapase
Overall great experience and worth visiting with kids & family. You can book tickets online or onsite. Better to book online to avoid queue. I recommend to do some research on tour and read something about it. It will help you to correlate in the space center. At-least plan visit of 4-6 hrs time. Don’t forget to reserve tramp tour as soon as you enter to visit rocket launch & training site. We missed it as it was fully reserved for the day.
Tony Caird
an amazing experience and worth the drive upon arrival you pay for parking online using the QR codes. The centre is reasonably priced for the attractions it holds. Veterans are awarded $5 discount, and the people on the counter thank you for your service, plenty of support for children and adults with disabilities including autism. The centre offers insight into NASAs' future missions to both the moon and Mars, a lot of interactive stuff to enjoy, highlight is getting to touch a piece of the moon and Mars. gift shop is also reasonably priced
would highly recommend
Kimberly Chelminski
Had a great time for our second visit. Did the control room tour, which did not disappoint. Stayed for the Galaxy Lights this time and it was stunning. Not super crowded on a Sunday afternoon. So much quality to see. Buying tickets ahead of the visit was a far superior method. It was a little pricey for all aspects, including souvenirs, and snacks. The official photo op is way overpriced at $30 for a single photo. The cost is the only reason for not giving a five star rating.
Day deSIANG
Houston, we have a liftoff... 🚀
Wasn’t expecting much before I visit the place, and thought I will spend just around 2 hours here. End up spending around 5 plus hours here! There are much to see and experience here, touch the rock from moon, view inside of Skylab, Enterprise, and Boeing 747, astronauts training centers, and etc.
There are 3 separate visits to Rocket lab (red tram), astronaut training center (blue tram), and control room (white tram). Remember to reserve the control room visit first hand, as it will be fully booked in a short time. I also suggest that you can book for the blue tram as it will also stop at the rocket lab (red tram).
Remember, do not move or stand up while the tram is moving!
Artemis Moon mission, go go go!
Ann Marie Duran
I would have loved to see more of a selection of the solar system and moon history! I expected a lot more than what was available to see or even touch! The engineering of the robotic system would have been interesting! Love the unknown of space and a healthy appreciation for those whom have traveled to space. Was Wonderful and I will be back to see the changes. Who knows you my Surprise me!
Marisol Reyes
Must see attraction if in the Houston area! There is so much to do that I would definitely recommend a full day. Once there grab a map that is located at the entrance right after the turnstiles. I would highly recommend you follow the numbers in the way it's laid out as it makes sense to do it that way. Download the app to your phone as it makes it 10 times easier to keep track of the shows and the trams. There were 3 different trams that ran, each with their own tour. Most run about 1 hour so plan accordingly. Gifts shops are good and have lots of things but be prepared to spend $$$. Also cafeteria closes early about 3pm) so ensure if you will eat there to do so before it closes.
Anonymous User
A little smaller than I thought but still a very good place. Make sure you have enough time to go on all of the trams! You need around 5 hours minimum. Also the gift shop has some good deals on some items.
Maggie Spehr
We enjoyed this place, but it was very crowded on a Saturday. I recommend buying tickets ahead of time (in the car on the way there) to avoid the line and download the app and reserve tram tickets early in your visit or you may not get a spot or have to wait a long time for your time slot. We weren't able to take the tram tour we preferred and had to wait almost two hours for the one we were able to do.
Ben Burgess
I recently had the privilege of taking a VIP tour with Space Center Houston at NASA Johnson Space Center, and it was an unforgettable experience. The tour provided behind-the-scenes access to several areas of the space center, including the highlight of the tour, Christopher C. Kraft Jr. Mission Control Center.
During the tour, we were able to see the historic Apollo Mission Control room, where NASA monitored and controlled the Apollo missions to the moon. It was an awe-inspiring experience to stand in the same room where some of humanity's greatest achievements were made.
We also got to see the current International Space Station Mission Control, where NASA currently monitors and communicates with the astronauts aboard the space station. It was fascinating to see the technology and equipment used to keep astronauts safe and productive in space.
In addition to the Mission Control rooms, the VIP tour provided access to other areas of the space center that are not typically open to the public, including the Shuttle Avionics Integration Lab. It was a unique opportunity to see the work that goes on behind the scenes at NASA Johnson Space Center.
Aside from the VIP experience, the center offers a variety of interactive exhibits that provide a hands-on experience of space exploration. There's something for everyone, from learning about the history of space travel to experiencing a virtual reality tour of the International Space Station.
Overall, the Space Center Houston and their VIP tour exceeded my expectations. It's a fantastic destination for anyone interested in space exploration and the history of NASA. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and the exhibits are both educational and entertaining. I highly recommend taking the VIP tour for an extra-special experience.
Justin
This was the highlight on our trip to Texas! The experience here far surpassed what we saw and could do at Kennedy Space Center.
The highlight was definitely the tram tour and stops at the Apollo Mission Control Tour (which was setup the exact way of the first lunar landing), Astronaut Training Facility Tour (the current training facility for astronauts) and Rocket Park where the Saturn V rockets can be found.
We visited on a hot, extremely busy summer day but we didn't find the waits too bad. I recommend signing up for a tram tour on your mobile device as soon as you get here (cannot be booked in advance) and is included with your admission price.
Victor Scherrer
Super cool place for nerds and space enthusiasts - including kids. There are some small exhibitions, but the coolest thing is definitely the rocket in one of the pavilions (see pics). Also I wish I could have seen the Apollo Mission Control Room. The only (kind of) disappointing thing was the space shuttle - I think they could have kept it all original - but still great that you can go inside it. Staff is friendly and there is a well structured food court in the center. A must see for sure!
Václav Strnad
Great place to have a look at the space exploration equipment and spend a nice day. All the tours in to the NASA complex are really nice, but you can skip the first blue tour, as you can go to the same place with a red tour as a second stop. To save some time.
Food was good, and not overpriced, but there is missing filling station for water, you can only use drinking fountain, or buy plastic bottles.
Lacey Trahan-Moate
What a top-notch museum! All the exhibits were great and the tram tours can't be beat!
Pro tip: you can only reserve one tour at a time on either the app or at guest services but if you book one (with a long wait) on your app AND one (with hardly no wait) at guest services, you can may get lucky and get to go on two tram tours without any wait time between.
Rennah Dunavant
Galaxy lights is awesome!!!! We went when there was another special event going on, so the gift shop was open late, which was super exciting!! It was beautiful, and educational. We went into the space shuttle replica and the retrofitted airplane museum part.. Loved every second of it!
Wol Jinju Vinson (Pearl)
I absolutely loved visiting NASA. It's a great experience to see and be a part of. You'll be able to interact with a lot and read or watch tons of fun facts about not only space and our galaxy but about the history of NASA as well. It was fun and had tons of awesome merchandise and photo opportunities, would totally recommend for a family adventure or with friends.
Kenneth LeBlanc
Definitely a great place to visit if you have any interest in space. They have a ton of things to see from old stuff to new stuff. Several hands on activities for kids. Couple different tram tours. Pretty decent cafeteria. Good size gift shop. Several live programs and a couple movies to watch. Also if your into Pokemon Go you will not be disappointed!
Kayla Newport
Such a fun place! We spent the whole day there. 7+ hours. Lots of walking wear comfortable shoes. Make sure to reserve your team time's in the app or you might miss out.
Payton Gunter
Very well laid out and meticulously crafted museum of some of the best artifacts of human spaceflight. One of the only places on Earth where you will see real flown space hardware including the last Apollo capsule to visit the Moon, and a twice flown Falcon 9 in all it's toasty glory. If you want to see the journey to humanity into the great beyond, this is the best place to start!
L. C.
The space center itself is okay. I'm not sure that little kids would stay too connected to it because it's a lot of reading and not as much hands-on. The Christmas light show however was fabulous! I would definitely do that again! Overall this is a great place to visit!
Lauren Hiser
Galaxy lights was fun and the space center itself is great. I look forward to going back during the day to explore more. Parking was so easy which I appreciated. I expected a ton of traffic and hectic parking but we had no wait and an immediate available spot. Sound quality was super poor for Galaxy lights considering how big of an event it is. Fuzzy sound and a few broken speakers. It’s interactive but doesn’t feel immersive. Our boys loved the flight simulator and of course the rockets and airplane.
Ali K
Visiting NASA was one of my dreams!! Absolutely excellent place to visit and learn about the history of excellent work of NASA. When you entered the building, don’t forget to take a map and plan your visiting. It’s a little bit dark inside the building, it could be difficult to read signs. So, map will help you to find your way! During your visit, don’t skip The NASA Tram Tour to rocket park, the astronaut training facility etc. Grateful to be here to see incredible work of NASA!
Harriet Ogilvie
We enjoyed our trip to the space centre but I like a museum with more flow to it. This seemed like lots of different exhibits, which i know many people will prefer. It would be a great place for a school trip, we saw loads of kids having fun!
Cassandra Porter
A great place to visit. Can run through the whole place in under a hour but could easily have stayed for over 5 hour hours.
I would have like to have tried the vr experience and done the tour but not enough time.
The breakfast with an astronaut sounds like a really fun experience and if we ever come back to Houston it will be on the to do list.
Great gift shop! All the clothes were reasonably in price and great material. Not the typical logo merchandise you'd normally find.
Mark Nickerson
Just a really well done museum. Good traffic flow, engaging exhibits, reasonably priced admission. Lots of history and artifacts of the space program to see but also interactive pieces for younger people who might be bored more easily.
John Swieca
My wife and I went there yesterday and had a great time. I would advise going late in the afternoon if you could for it really thinned out then. They offer memberships but in my opinion this is a one-time thing every so often....unless you constantly have visitors coming to town for then I can see going back many times a year. I would definitely take out-of-towners here for sight-seeing! The space shuttle walk through was my favorite!! The Saturn V rocket was pretty cool too!
D (Ghost Turtle)
Ok, seriously perfect for the family. Go ahead and if you're within an hour or so of Houston and you're a party of 3 or 4 it's just worth it to get the membership plan. We spent a solid 4 hours there and we did a rush job of it. Amazing time with very engaged children who were blown away by everything there. This is such a well put together sprawling exhibit of our space frontier exploration that it's easy for the kids to maintain interest and be wide-eyed the entire time. 10/10 am going back as a member
Gadi Yekutiel
Great place even if you aren't a space fanatic.
Very well organized, with helpful staff.
There is a lot to see, and the tram tours are great.
The price is very reasonable for what you get, and entering was easy with no hussle.
Plenty of parking.
Jared Schumacher
Visiting the NASA space center was everything I remembered as kid. It was even better this time seeing the excitement and wonder through my kids. A visit to the space center shows the amazing things we can accomplish with science. Plan to spend a day to learn where we have been and where we are going in space and to inspire young minds. There is so much more to learn and discover.
Vinay
I wanted to give 5 star but giving only four as I think the events could be better organized. It's lot chaos for most of the people of higher age grp. I saw it many times personally. Events are good and tram is also good. Service desk should be more and around the place and not at just one place
MJ S
I could spend all day here! So much to take in, learn, explore and play! Staff is very friendly and attentive. Full food court here just incase you get hungry. Lots of fun stuff for kiddos to do! We spent a few hours and definitely will be going back for a longer adventure! LOVE this place!!
Raquel Trejo (pompom)
Truly an amazing experience. They have added so many new things and keeps everyone engaged! Definitely kept my kids engaged and starry eyed the whole time. Wonderful staff as well!
Ajay Sharma
Incredible, amazing, fascinating, center filled with extensive information and knowledge! If you’re a space enthusiast, you’re in heaven and even you aren’t there’s plenty for you to enjoy. Very well organized with maps and staff members everywhere to help.
Even though the tickets aren’t cheap but in my opinion they’re worth the price. Before going there I thought I knew a lot about the space but I learned so much more, it’s just unbelievable. I’d suggest to go online, plan and come early and just enjoy and get educated. Highly recommended
GEOFFREY GIBBS
Great value for admission. Not overpriced, including gift shop. For a high tech organization their app and online maps are pretty weak.
Once you get in be sure to book a tram tour. You would miss lots if you don't go to the other buildings. You can spend 2-3 hours here easily and you don't need to be a space nerd.
Tiffany A
Very pricey but worth it. My older kids (17, almost 18 and 20) had a blast. There's theater rooms that show amazing educational videos from the perspectives of the astronauts which we loved so much. We spent a bit much at the gift shop and on the photo you take upon entering but overall totally worth it. My daughter had been wanting to come to NASA for years and all of her dreams came true 🔭💫 I’d love to return when we have more time (and energy) there’s so much to see here.
Jason Ngui
Truly amazing. Get to see the history of space exploration and amazed by how large the scale is.
Parking is ample, suggest to arrive earlier and get some look around the Space X Falcon 9 and the Space Shuttle +Boeing 747 in person.
Admission tickets reasonable, suggest membership and if you have time, go for all tram tours.
Would visit again, drove here during an intermediate 10 hour layover.
Dream come true.
Emmanuel Houston Kwashie
I went to the Space Center Houston, the location of Mission Control and astronaut training, as part of my trip to Houston, Texas.
It was mind-blowing to see some old technologies and equipment on exhibit for tourists to experience and learn more about space flight, which despite the significant risks involved, aims to bring humanity closer to the events in the cosmos.
In fact, missions in space have advanced humanity significantly through space-based scientific research. I was ecstatic to be here and experience the situation myself.
May the souls of the early space exploration astronauts who passed away while performing their duties rest in peace.
Brinda Mistry
A great place to visit with family. Very informative. So much to see and learn. It's best to go for an entire day to be able to visit and experience everything.
The tram tours are a must. They are the best part or the entire tour.
Food lab offers food with a good seating area.
Washrooms are easily available.
Gift centre has many options for gifts and souvenirs.
Adam Jensen
Childhood dream fulfilled. Seeing many of the actual spacecraft used made me feel like I was 10 again.
The only disappointment i had was the space shuttle. It's about as accurate as a replica can be, and it is definitely cool, but at the end of the day it's still a replica. The transporter is real though, so that kind of makes up for it.
I'll definitely be going again though...
Jis David
Great place. Busy during the weekends. They close by 6. The VR reality and seeing Saturn 1 rocket were amazing. Seeing that rocket was my first time ever seeing a rocket of that size. Never could have imagined that a technology of this kind was developed in the 60s. Walking around it and reading the Apollo missions made me think about the risk the people took and their sleepless nights. Truly an amazing sight. Highly recommend this place for Houston visit.
James Wilcox
We went on a Saturday, so the tours over to the Saturn V and training facility were fully booked by 11 and we missed out. Heard they're great, but Saturday with a school group isn't a great time to try going.
The tours are the bulk of what's most interesting, the main building seems to be more focussed at school level education where the tours show more history and actual function.
It was the sole reason we went to Houston and I say it was worth the trip.
nghi quach
This place wasn't up to my expectations. The center wasn't that big so it didn't take us long to go over the whole place. Some models of the spaceship allow you to go inside and the line wasn't too long of a wait, but the RV at the lobby had a long line, like long long! The RV experience seemed to be the most fun thing to do at the center though. Overall, there weren't many things to do there except for spaceships and spacesuits to look at.
Ashley Paredez
Amazing experience. Great place to bring kids to get them excited about space. Both tours can be done in one day with enough time to explore everything else. You can find food and drinks inside. Souvenir shop is pretty expensive but that’s okay. There are some interactive spots for kids.
John Wolfe
!!!Buy tickets over a week in advance!!!
When we visited in 2013, it was very affordable. Those days are long gone. The new facility and displays are AMAZING, but we couldn't afford to go two days, which is the absolute minimum it would take to see everything.
Chad Zindel
Pretty awesome! Make sure you purchase your ticket weeks in advance in order to get access to the Historic Mission Control ($15 extra). Also, make sure to get there early. There's a lot of exhibits to see and read. Especially if you see the video and Webb telescope images in the Destiny Theater make sure you exit through the other side to see the starship gallery which also takes you out to the Boeing / Independence exhibit. Overall, really cool experience! I would try to visit during the weekday, it's packed during the weekend.
Sage Wheeler
I loved this place. Not only is it full of amazing stuff, but it is a tribute to the amazing people that dared sit inside controlled exposions and ride them through the stars. I learned a lot while I was there and left feeling inspired. I missed the rocket tour though. You have to catch a tram early as it closes two hour earlier than the rest of the place.
Arnold Garza Jr.
One of my favorite places to visit whenever we're in this area. Soo many interesting findings. A great part of history is unfolded before your eyes, not to mention the great amount of detail that goes in to every exhibit.
Kerry Jo Robertson
We had a great time here. So educational and lots of exhibits to see. Definitely take the tram tour and go so the big rocket. Its a lot of fun for all ages.
Ana Key
Great fun. Very educational and exciting with interactive displays and actual space vessels and equipment. There are hundreds of things to see. We were greeted by an actual astronaut who described his journey to become part of the space program. We saw people that actually work in the space program doing their jobs. Amayzing!
Jeri M
It's literally an out of this world experience for the whole family! We've gone several times and never disappointed. Be sure to reserve a tour via the tram. ( It's included in general admission price) Give yourself time to really explore because there's a lot to take in. The membership is worth it if you plan on going a couple of times a year.
Susie B
I used to come here once a year when I was a kid. Last time I was there was in the early 1990's. This place has grown and majorly upgraded since my last visit!
I was in town with our 2 kids (age 11 and 6) and they both had a great time, we spent 5 hours here and could have easily spent more time.
I would recommend downloading the app before you go, as well as getting tickets online. There was 5 of us, so I got tickets online at tiqets which had discounted admission tickets. Also, we learned the hard way and weren't able to do the white tram tour (goes to mission control). It sold out by early afternoon. You can reserve your spot on the tram tours in the app and need to do it at 9 am when they open - that's what I was told to do "next time". Unfortunately, next time will be maybe a year from now since we live thousands of miles away. We were able to do the blue and red tram tour.
We also didn't time our trip well, as we didn't have time to see any of the presentations or movies.
Nikolai Mannsfeld
1 Million Stars. Awesome place to spend your time during the day. I decided to go here with one of my friends and it was awesome and I learned a lot! It was also very big and it wasn’t that busy. We didn’t buy any souvenirs though. But getting tickets was easy, staff was nice, and most importantly, fascinating! If I was in Houston, I’ll definitely go here and visit again!
Kevin Vu
We wanted to take our kids thinking there would be hands on activities, but I think I ended up having more fun than my kids. There were some activities as you can see from my pictures but most are for kids around 10 years or older and they would probably have a better experience since they can read. Honestly, if your kids are not interested in space, science, and technology, it'll be a waste of money and time. Good thing my son was semi-interested. It is big and has enough information to last you an 8-hour tour. Plan for for a whole day trip or two if you want to read everything. We visited around 10am and didn't leave until after 3pm, but that's because we had somewhere to be as well.
Noah van Lienden
As to be expected, a must must visit when in Houston! The center is beautifully made up of all kinds of things to see and do. You get the chance to take tram tours and if you’re lucky you can do all three in a day! You need to reserve a place at the help desk or on your phone to get access to these tram rides. These rides are really the most fun part of the whole centre! They usually take 30-60 min and take you out to the area where real work is being done by NASA! The tram does go outside so don’t forget your coat if you’re going in the colder months.
Yoshiko Sakai
I agree that this place is amazing, however we caught COVID on our visit here. The lines are incredibly long, and there is no social distancing whatsoever. Most exhibits don't have proper ventilation and there are no staff members to control how many people are inside at a time. If you do go be sure to be there as soon as they open so you can avoid the crowds.
Kenneth Corley
Loved the opportunity to board a space shuttle. There is an unassuming display that you must NOT miss! There's a small piece of moon rock that you can touch. Therefore, I have touched the moon! 🌝
Note that you must pay for parking, in addition to the ticket. Total cost admission+parking just short of $40
Kathy Harper
We visited when they had the Artemis exhibition. The space center was AWESOME!! So much knowledge, many displays of information, nice theaters. You need an entire day to fully really appreciate the center.
Larry Missildine
Truly one of the bucket list places you have to visit. The main center as you come in is cool, but highly geared toward younger kids. But, to go out and see the old Saturn rocket laid out, much less the replica of the Moon landing's Mission Control. So many sights and things to see.
Marek Minecki
Really worth spending the day and taking the 3 tours... but check the weather cause the teams don't run in the rain. We didn't get to see the replica of the Apollo control center because of a thunderstorm. Bring your family and kids... after all this is celebrating the greatest achievements of Humanity.
Mark Coates
The Houston space centre is a must for any space geek. The museum has lots of interactive exhibits for kids. However the real wonder in this place is the tours (which are less kid friendly due to being less interactive than the other areas of the museum). Getting to hear the audio and see the telemetry in the Apollo 11 flight control centre as it was during the moon landing is a must. And the other tour takes you to the training lab. It all captures the imagination.
Download the space centre Huston app from the app store to be able to book the tours from your phone which will help you plan your day and make the most of your time here. Plus the app allows for some pretty nifty interactive features with some of the displays as well as trivia games.
Glenn Harbin
I saw most of this stuff over at the Kennedy space center there were a few unique things here but generally the same stuff. I did not like the theater layout. There is no way to get from one side to the other without walking across the stage area or going completely out of the theater and around to another entrance.
Brian “Tally Man” Tally
Great experience! Very well organized, clean, and easy to get around the facility. This is a must do when visiting Houston or if you live in Houston its a great way to spend some time with the family while learning about space travel and how it all works!
José Chas
It is a great place to visit with the family. There is so much to learn, so plan ahead on spending more than two hours, especially if you watch the presentations they show around. We got there at 11am, and there was a short line outside to buy tickets. We bought tickets online, so it is way faster. We paid $30 per adult and $25 for children. Plan on taking extra money because some other activities or pictures will require extra payment.
The presentations were very interesting. We learned so much about why we stopped going to the moon and the future travels there. After the shows, they allow you to ask questions, so have those ready as well. I don't think you can bring food inside, so have a good meal before and drink some water, especially if you go do a tour outside the main building because it will be hot. Pictures are about $30 dollars, in case you consider buying them.
john woods
We visited during the galaxy of lights show and man was it awesome! There is so much to see and lights are so neat the way they are set up. They have fire pits to roast marshmallow on and you can do most of the attractions inside the building. They have music playing with the lights which adds to the wonder, kids and adults of all ages will certainly enjoy this!
Varsha Vilankar
It’s great to be at NASA where the famous communication quote from space Apollo 13 “Houston, we have had a problem” was.
You can tour the Johnson Space Center - Tram Tours for astronaut training facilities, Mission Control and Saturn V rocket tours are great - be sure to book your spot for the tours.
Independence Plaza display of the aircraft carrying shuttle is the best attraction.
Plenty of parking in spite of July 4 long weekend holiday.
Sajeev Mehta
I haven’t been here since I was a kid so I was blown away at the quality of the exhibits and the experience touring the Johnson Space Center! It’s definitely worth getting both bus tours along with your admission to Space Center, and even the food court is quite good. Loved the staff, the detailed exhibits and the things I learned!
Ahmed Harb Rabia
It was an amazing experience. We spent the day there and we all enjoyed our time including my 4 years old daughter. Plan ahead, the blue tour is great and if you arrive early in the morning you may be able to do more than one tour.
Martin D
We stayed in Houston just to visit this place and it definitely payed off. If you are even vaguely interested in space exploration, this place is a must!
We took two free tram tours (come early), so in addition to the great exposition in the main hall we could see the original Saturn V, a NASA development center AND the control center of the Apollo missions. An unforgettable experience for every space nerd!
Claudia Smith
If you are into space anything this is a great place. Lots of different exhibits, and a good balance of interactive and history.
Make sure to ask for the tram tours when you visit. They offer different options and it’s a great experience.
Keith Kitzhaber
Excellent experience. Visited the "Command Center" for the Apollo Missions restored to July, 1969, right down to the cigarettes in the ash trays. We saw what they saw on the screens at the time of landing. We heard the original audio. I ran out of energy before the day was over. More to see NEXT TIME. As an engineer and a pilot, I have extreme admiration for all that they accomplished. It's amazing
Allison S
My sister and I took our four kids here aged 9-12. They had a total blast. Highlights include a tour of a real working astronaut training facility, tons of beautiful exhibits with hands on activities, Imax style theater playing facinating space related movies, talk with a real astronaut, step inside a life size replica of a space ship. Plenty of parking. Cafeteria with food and even a coffee bar with delicious lattes! Highly recommend!
Rianna
Great way to spend a morning, afternoon or full day learning about space exploration and the massive network surrounding NASA. They do an amazing job at making the experience accessible by integrating technology (space centre houston app) and offering entertaining content for all ages and interest levels.
The facility is spacious and well laid out, wheelchair accessible, features multiple gift shops and a cafeteria that serves coffee, tea, snacks and meals.
I could return multiple times with how much there is to learn and was thrilled with my time visiting The Space Center Houston.

Whether you are a big or little space enthusiast you’ll love visiting Space Center Houston. There is fun for all ages, so don't be afraid to try out the hands-on exhibits and experiments.
Go early and plan to spend the day. There is so much to see and do you’ll find yourself rushing to see everything you want. Make sure you take the time to take the tram over to NASA’s Johnson Space Center where you can see one of the last Saturn V rockets and some of the newest upcoming space technologies.
Melissa Hofmann
What a great place! We spent several hours there. It was fun to see all the history of NASA and the exhibits. It was pretty cool going on the tram ride and seeing the inner workings on NASA and Saturn V. I would definitely go back!
Jason Clark
Very cool. We really enjoyed it here. Lots of interesting information and there are a couple of Tram rides you can take. Highly recommend!
Aniruddha Roy Choudhury
Simply brilliant experience. For all those kids who at some point in their life dreamt of being an astronaut and flying off into space can actually revitalize their interest by visiting here.
I visited here on a bright Sunday morning of February 5, 2023. General admission tickets of adults cost us $30 per head and we bought the tickets online in advance, had to pay an additional $10 for parking while purchasing the ticket. We were 4 people in 2 cars, so that 1 parking ticket was enough for the 2 cars. No one checked whether we had the parking ticket or not. So that I guess can be avoided.
About the space center, no words are enough. It will atleast take you 4 solid hours to cover everything - that's the minimum. The general admission tickets include the guided tram tour, the destiny theatre shows (whole day some or the other show is on here, please refer to display boards once inside). The guided Tram tour takes you to Rocket Park (where Saturn V is preserved) and Astronaut Training Facility. Also you get to see the vast area across which the facility is spread.
The food court is good and prices are reasonable. But the beverage prices are way too high. The gift shop center is good too. Overall for me it was an experience of a lifetime.
Daniela Sanquiz
It was a really good experience, my family and I had a great time , we enjoyed it .
The stores have really cute things but they're a little expensive so be prepared .
The tram was amazing , the tour lasted an hour . If you planning to come download the official app: space center houston ,so when you get there you can reserve a seat on the tram without waiting on line to get the ticket ( the tour on the tram is free but you still have to reserve to get a seat)
Buy your tickets online so you don't have wait so long to get your tickets!
Crystal Keller
Incredible experience that everyone should have at least once! If I had to change one thing, it would be the season. We unfortunately could only book during the summer months, it was incredibly hot! If you're not used to the humidity, plan a possibly during the fall or spring. The tickets are reasonably priced all that general admissions allows for. Wear comfortable shoes as it is a lot of walking as well. You'll likely spend between 3-5 hrs here depending upon the crowd. Next time, we plan to do breakfast with an astronaut!
Starr Parmley
The older stuff is very interesting. The new stuff seems like indoctrination for children and in your face marketing. Definitely not the experience it used to be but worth the $30 if you are in the area. Don't travel here.. go to the Smithsonian Air & Space museum. This one is 3rd class unfortunately.
Osvaldo Negrete
Amazing experience with all the family for sure be ready with you Astronaut suit with the kids to take wonderful pictures 📸....remember to get the train/tour you must download the app Houston Space Center and make reservation and if not working just walk to help desk the waiting time is taking like 1 hr. Enjoy!!!! …
J Hopkins
We went to a private event here and it was a perfect evening! I always enjoy the space center. Especially the lights during Christmas time. A fabulous museum as well as event center. Great customer service amongst the staff.
Jonathan Trevino
We went for homeschool day and I have to say that both my wife and I along with our 2 sons (2 and 7) truly enjoyed it and learned a lot. The food was excellent! Looking forward to going back with friends next time.
Hans Rattink
The Space Center is definitely one of the highlights of Houston. However, it's not as exciting as you might think. It's had enough content for at least half a day, and it's great that they have the space shuttle and it's carrier open to visit.
However, there are 3 extra items that require additional tickets. 2 tram tours, free of charge and the command center, that requires an additional fee. One of the two team rides was not available, and the command center was already booked out when we got there.
The tram ride that I could take took me half an hour standing in line. The app provides a virtual line, however that didn't work. It took us to the Apollo V rocket hangar and that rocket is quite impressive! The tramride is not. It's just a transport for about 300m or so.
Chetan Balaji
Price worthy. Good for family and friends as well. Good amount Information to know about space journey so far. Tram tour was good. For Tram tour we need to register inside near guest center. Overall Experience was Awesome. Please book the VR tickets as soon as you go inside.
Rich n Sue
We visited today with 1 1/2 hours to enjoy the space center. From the purchase of tickets at 3:30 to our exit at 5pm the staff offered us great advice along the way of what to see and in priority to our age and interest. They were awesome!!!
Our favorite areas included the Independence Plaza displaying the 747 Shuttle Carrier and the replica of the Independence Space Shuttle. We liked the Star Ship Galleries, the great collection of space suits too. We learned more about moon rocks and what was collected and brought back to Earth to learn from. We wrapped our time up taking pictures of the Space X Falcon 9 on exhibit outdoors. We found a greater appreciation of the missions and work of NASA after being here. Worth the price for us and the one suggestion from this newly retired couple is to drop the price a bit so that more families can afford to visit. Thank you!
Kerstin Bernd-Striebeck
Great day!
Total must if you are in the aero. Everyone loves astronauts. There is so much new going on with new missions to moon, new astronauts in training. The next moon landing with people is planned for 2025.
You don't have to plan a whole day there, there are some kids' activities. It's really just exciting to see spacecrafts we know about by name in person.

galaxy light experience 22’
It was absolutely beautiful! Definitely a must see in the Houston area during the holidays! Plan accordingly for the weather! Wonderful for the family, and there’s usually a good crowd who would be there to capture a picture! Otherwise you might have to settle for a selfie! (tons of photo ops though!!) Overall worth it!
Shami
We went to The space station on a Friday , but still it was quite crowded. Getting the tickets before hand makes it easy as they have self check in kiosks. It’s definitely a place worth the money and time ! Even though I initially thought it’s gonna be boring , I was really surprised to see myself enjoying!
There were so many information and details you could learn from here and they do have around 3 live events where they explain in detail about what’s happening in a space station (check for the timings ) and they do have movies too where they show the life as an astronaut, it was nice to see real astronauts explaining their experiences to us .
And they had the exact models and astronauts made out of wax to show how they live in a space station! It was amazing to see everything in detail .
And they had a small rock from the moon for the public to touch.
We couldn’t make it to tramp ride as it was so full .so please make sure you reserve the tram ride beforehand
Only thing I was disappointed is the price of the picture which was taken at the entrance with the nasa background, it was $30 for one image . It’s crazy expensive. And we weren’t allowed to take pics of the kiosk image from the phone as well
Joseph Davis
If you love space this isn't the place for you, it's crowded with tourists and locals. On a serious note, Space Center Houston was amazing. The place is massive and requires a whole day dedicated to your trip. The Tram tour is an average a hour wait, then the rest of the museum you can easily spend hours looking and interacting with the exhibits. Highly recommend if you haven't gone to the space center you check it out.
Ryan
Was in town for a couple days visiting friends, and they brought me to see the the place for only a couple hours before closing. And it was an absolute blast!! Everything was filled with great history, info, and science that entices everyone of all ages. And even explains the impact on pop culture.
Aakash
Absolutely amazing place, an american story of space 🚀 exploration from the past into the future.
A look into the day to day life of an astronaut
The multi level shuttle display
Make sure to schedule a tram ride as soon as you get there! They don’t allow you to bring in your own food. Over all it’s a pretty neat museum with lots of real space artifacts on display as well as mock-ups. The movies in the IMAX theater will be worth your timely
Samantha Garland
Such a great time in history to go to NASA! Definitely do the trams! You want to see everything. As soon as you get on the NASA land you can get in virtual lines. You want to do that with the first tram so you are able to go to all of them. Such a great time!
Tori North
It's an amazing place with a lot to do and you should certainly plan on it being at least a few hours. Lots to interact with and take photos of. Prepare for crowds though. The only reason it didn't get a 5 star review was because of the tram ride which we had been so excited for because the employees hyped it up so much. You spend almost the entire time just driving past buildings and our tour guide was not the most pleasant person and didn't seem to be trying to make the tour more enjoyable. It seemed like the only thing they were excited about was driving past a family member of their romantic partner. They were snippy with guests and struggled to keep their facts straight. It didn't help that the intercoms cut out every few words.
Courtney Dansby
Definitely recommend seeing Galaxy Lights this Holiday season. Gray for date night or a family night. You get to see parts of the space center and wonderful lights with great music. Great alternative to the zoo lights and much cheaper.
Bob Bowen
This place is GREAT for both the space enthusiast and the curious! My wife and daughter loved it. I highly recommend taking every tour possible/available including the Apollo control center and space training facility.
Ryan Hubert
We came on an extremely busy day. The exhibits look great, the were simply too many people to read the information for each exhibit. We are members so we are eager to return and take the tram tours. See y'all soon!
J.B. Visser
My childhood came back, oh what an experience. In the 70's i followed everything about Apollo. The tram tour brings you to places where you can not access by foot. So my advise: take the tram!!
One thing was not okay. In Kids place almost everything was not working as it should be. Please fix it.
Victoria Tauzin
Awesome experience! Loved it all. Caution: after spending $26+ per person for general admission, as soon as you enter its extra $ for just about everything. However, walking around to look at the free exhibits and the trolly ride was so worth the general admission.
Skye Walker
Loved it, I've always wanted to be an astronaut. Great place to take the family. I am concerned about the woke ideological agenda sweeping across the land. Was surprised that in the great state of TX, they put up with it, but after all, it is another government run agency. Let's send our best because they're qualified.
Mark The Bassman
We had one day to visit Houston before a cruise, and we stopped here for a few hours. I wish we had more time, but we will be back. The museum had great exhibits, my favorite was the space shuttle Independence on the 747. They have 3 tram rides, but due to time constraints, we could only go on the shortest one, the Saturn V display. It was amazing. If you want to visit, budget at least 5 hours to get a good experience. 3 hours wasn't enough.
Anusha Narayanaswamy
A must visit place if you are in Houston. We visited on a holiday and crowd was okay. There is a lot to see and definitely one day is not enough to cover everything. There are multiple tram rides running until 3Pm and you need to book it on the app or make a reservation there to take the ride. We were able to take only one tram ride because of the time constraint. A lot of mesmerizing things to see and learn. The only complaint We had was the food. Almost all food outlets were closed by the time we arrived from the tram ride at 3.30 and there were very few options.
Ian Bailey
A great place to spend a day looking at current and future space missions. Plenty to keep adults and children interested. The highlight for me was travelling out on the tours to see the Saturn 5, the ISS training area and Mission Control - as it was set up in 1969 when NASA put man on the moon. - Incredible to think how simple the computer and communications technology was back then!
Next time I'm back in Houston, I would more than likely revisit!

There is a lot to look at and do. You can spend a whole day here. There is food, coffee, comparable to a lunch room. There are kids activities, plenty of historical info and pieces. A small gift shop and a larger shopping area. They take your photo with your group as you enter in which you can choose to buy as you leave at a kiosk. There are of employees and volunteers around to help and direct you. It is still required you wear mask here at all times unless eating or drinking at the lunchroom. They will enforce it and explain who enforces it, where it's coming from and have every right to remove you from the center if you do not abide by it. They provide disposable masks and sanitizers to the public throughout the facility. This is separate from the Johnson space center and through the tram, you may be able yo tour that as well. However that is if it is opened and they are allowing tours the day you go. It is not provided before hand if they are open as it was explained at the Space Center that due to them being separate they did not have to give notice if they would be allowing tours or not.
Great place to take kids and families. There is a lot of walking and a flight of stairs outside with an elevator option. It can get crowded inside some areas and at some activities there were no staff so some families spent a large amount of time at some areas that we were not able to try out. Some of the activities that did have multiple stations did not all work which caused everyone to wait on one or two stations that people did not take turns on. The food at the cafeteria area was good and decent for the prices. There was no space themed food or anything special about it. There was sandwiches with vegetarian and kid options, fruit, veggies, candy and varies snacks to buy. The sandwiches were still thawing from being frozen and made it very hard to eat. I was told the veggies and fruit and the parfait were good though. There is kiosk to order and pay for your food and bottled drinks. The two kiosk on the wall next to vending machines are for paying only. Go further into the cafeteria to order. The cafeteria food that's made is open from 11-2 and relatively quick. Your receipt has your order number at the top and the status of your order is one screens posted near the pick up stations. Red means not ready and green means ready. There are people there you can ask questions to if you need more info. There are condiments and napkins located near the kiosk.

I have visited the Space Center many times and it never stops to amaze me. Since we bought the tickets online we didn’t wait to enter. Today I realized they had nursing room and since it was in use Laura from info desk helped me to use the quiet room. I really appreciate the helpful staff and these rooms that are provided.
Rod Lester De Guzman (Mr.Rod)
Really enjoy the trip today here in NASA, the exhibits are worth the que and a must see. A gentle reminder to book your tram tours in advance as internet data is on and off at the site. Overall its worth the experience.
Jody Carter
We visited for their holiday light show. Entry cost was $25pp after tax. We spent about 90 minutes and saw some gorgeous outdoor lights, a super-fun ceiling light orb show, explored many of the normal displays, and toured the on-site shuttle and Boeing 747. This was a hugely memorable and photogenic event that our two kids loved!
Belinda Robinson
WOW, this place is fun. I just wish I had more time to visit all the exhibits before my trip ended. Next time I'm in Houston, Texas this will be on my agenda to revisit. I LOVE IT
Kenneth Smith
Very cool place especially around the holidays. They have something called “Galaxy Lights” which starts at 6 PM. You may think you want to get here later to really see the lights, but they have exhibits inside with lights as well, so I recommend getting there as soon as it starts and the timing is perfect!
Nice staff, cool space history, rockets and nerdy lights what more could you want (besides an actually flown space shuttle ha)
Rachel Reyes
My family and I enjoyed our time there. It was very exciting due to being a space freak. It was all very interesting. The only problem was the smell in the large main hall. It smelled like urine. It smelled like an animal shelter. My family noticed as well as some other guests there. What is that? Maybe the staff have become accustomed to the smell and are not doing anything about it. It was horrible. Perhaps pulling up all that nasty carpet and going with tile? Overall, it was an enjoyable time except for the smell.
Landon Andrews
I’d plan on spending 3-5 hours, or even longer if you really take your time. Make sure to schedule a tram ride as soon as you get there! They don’t allow you to bring in your own food. Over all it’s a pretty neat museum with lots of real space artifacts on display as well as mock-ups. The movies in the IMAX theater will be worth your time. Go straight to the starship exhibit since it has the most to look at of all the indoor exhibits.
Sa Sh
Awesome museum where historic moments for the mankind comes alive. We were fortunate that we were accompanied by a NASA engineer to experience his passion and pride to supplement our experience with special, expert commentary. Goosebumps galore - if anyone has ever doubts about the human ingenuity, aspirations and ability to execute effectively on the dreams, this is the place to smash those doubts and be amazed by the scale of the operation - especially the moon landing in 1960’s! A must see.
Roberto Rodríguez Perrino
Loved this place. It is well organized and filled with a huge amount of information in every corner. There's so much to see, learn and enjoy whether you are a space enthusiast or not. The staff is very friendly and they are always willing to help you in any way they can. I found the group photograph a bit expensive, though.
Adrian Imbert
Amazing for all aerospace lovers however, when compared to the Kennedy Space Center, it leaves a lot to be desired. It feels lile NASA Houston tried to make the main hall into a kid focused attraction and forgot about any other audience along the way.
The tram tour was cool but the guide really couldn't be bothered to do anything other than read off their script.
The saving attractions are the flight worn space suits, the scaled shuttle mock-up and the brief facility walkthrough.
Paul Pettersson (Petersson Fersman)
A "must visit" when in Houston. Here visitors get a unique chance to come close to lots of space equipment used by NASA. It i also possible to go inside of a space shuttle, see videos of space trips, etc. I recommend the tram tours that will take visitors to the facilities where NASA are developing and testing their future equipment, or the command center used during the moon trips. A fascinating place for all ages!
Valerie Rizzo
There was so much information that was very interesting. You can easily spend two hours here. They even have a tram that takes you outdoors to see the rocket display. We bought the city pass which we thought was worth it to get access to other sites in Houston!
Greg Cook
We went to the Space Center on a Saturday in May. We brought out 11 month old daughter along with us. Parking was easy in the big lot. Ample space to push a stroller around the center. We had a great time!
Ryan Brown
It was a little less entertaining than what I expected but it was still pretty cool. It's not something I would drive to Houston for again though. If we're down there on other busyness we can always go. The boys loved it. It sucks that they sell souvenirs you can buy on Amazon too. It's only okay. If you think you're gonna go and sit in a telescope room or touch a rock from the moon, stop downtown or just go to Galveston.
Traveling Foodie
If you go to galaxy lights you can see 90% of the amenities with somewhat of less people.
Overall I felt like this had a lot to offer, but I’m baffled with how people could spend more than 3 hours here. There isn’t a ton of stuff to go to, and when it’s crowded it’s pretty awful. The spacing of exhibits is really hard to navigate and it feels like you keep bumping into people.
The galaxy light was nice but I felt like it was really short. There were a couple really cool parts, but really it should be double the length. Also when it’s wet please provide markers and be more cognizant of people with injuries. My friend who went with us slipped on metal that had water and was very poorly marked. With an knee injury it compounded and she actually injured herself.
Sominboy27
10/10 and definately worth the trip. I did the blue and white tram tours which were both guided by a brilliant young lady named Reagan. It was great getting to see mission control and got to see an astronaunt in full suit training on building 9.
Chris Byars
Galaxy Lights was spectacular! Lots of fun unique displays mixed in with the always impressive engineering accomplishments that took humans to space. Don't miss the light show in the center with the glowing orbs that raise and lower. We immediately were confused by the people laying on the floor around the center until we tried it, it's a whole different experience.
Aliza Brown
Took a quick detour from the airport to this museum before heading to our hotel. Similar in style to the Cosmosphere in Kansas. We took the blue tram tour to the Saturn V rocket area which was really neat. If you take this tour you will also get to ride by a large field of longhorns.
David Henderson
We had such a great time. So much to see. Hours are 10-6, despite what their voice-mail message says. It was crowded. they will delay your entry if people aren't leaving. You have to buy a tram ticket online ahead of time. We didn't know that so no visit to mission control for us. Lots of displays. However most interactive activities for the kids, are broken. You'd think NASA can put someone on the moon, they should be able to fix a computer game. Seeing everything was still pretty neat.
D
It was a little bit pricey, but this was an interesting museum to visit. I enjoyed the presentation where a person talked about what life was like on a space station, particularly how they use the space toilet in zero gravity! We took the bus ride over to see the Saturn V rocket which was very impressive. Walking in and seeing the massive rocket blew my mind! It was also very cool to see the Space Shuttle in person. If you're a fan of the NASA space program this museum is a must see.
AshAragam2000
A must-visit to see true American ingenuity in action. The Astronaut training facility is the holy-dome of technology assembled for man's true pioneering work! Just the sheer assemblage of equipment leaves you mind-boggling.
Zac Cornish
Part history museum, part children's museum, part NASA promotional, there's lots to see at the Space center that we couldn't do it all.
The history aspect we top notch, with timelines and artifiacts from the entire history of US space pioneering. Getting proximity to space shuttles and command pods was pretty special.
The children's museum aspect was better than average for that genre, but still not 5 star. There were some cool hands on things to do, and it was very slick and polished. But There were too many things that were just video games and a number of broken exhibits (as happens in children's museums) for the price. As many exhibits that were broken i expect for a $15 children museum, not a $25.
All in all though, my kids had a blast and i expect they will remember the trip the rest of their lives. Especially being near the real space equipment, that justified the very high price to enter.
Todd Rodgers
A short drive from Galveston, it was a great day to spend a raining day. There was so much to see, we only saw a portion of what was to offer.
The Lu up to check tickets and bags was long but moved very quickly. There was exhibits there for everyone, even VR simulators ( but the lines were long).
Nilesh Desai
If you have interest in space, you should visit NASA in Houston. The space center Houston normally opens for 7 hours 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (summer time may be more). Try to make it a full day trip so you can cover everything. There are two open tram tours (A) White tour - this will take you to recreated older mission control room and give you a glimpse of small presentation followed by movie when astronauts landed first time on moon.
(B) Blue tour - takes you to rocket your and astronaut training center.
You cannot book both the tours at the same time. You can book one tour and once return, you can book another tour.
There are other short movies (time specific), how astronauts live on ISS and many more stuff to do. Plan your trip so that you can watch all movies, complete both the tours and visit all attractions. Movies have very specific times, so planning will help you enjoy all.
Carlos Cabrejas Antón
An amazing place. A must visit in Houston. Very well organized, lots to see and to learn. I'd recommend three hours minimum. Loved the transborder and the Boeing 746 on site. The tram your is great too. Shout-out to the cafeteria, great southern food!
Sandra Olabode
This was a great experience! The knowledge , the complexity the things that we saw here had me in awe! The tour guide Tavon was great and explained what each building was used for with clarity . He also answered our questions as well as assisting the tourists with taking pictures. The space shuttles were so much larger than i could have imagined as well. Excellent place to visit when inthe Houston area.
Ricardo Bernal
Nice exhibits and interesting tours. Seems geared towards small kids though. Wish there were nice images of galaxies and nebula and more technical information for adults. Tickets were expensive considering NASA is government funded. Smithsonian museums are free, why not this place?
Bill Ormsby
This place is amazing! We had breakfast with an astronaut. Super cool! Tours were great, but go early before it gets too hot outside.
Ali Asghar
A place to visit once for sure, not really for small kids and getting tickets in advance is a very good idea. The app is needed to book tours but the app is really bad. Take the time to read the details to really enjoy the place. Food court food was good, it is ordered from a self order kiosk and once it is ready, your number will show up on the monitor to let you know. Once the order is placed you will see it on red and the number changes to green for pick-up, you may have to go-to multiple locations for pick-up depending on what you ordered.
Ramon Rosales
Great place for a family day trip!
Awesome fun for all ages.
Lots of historical artifacts and space memorabilia. Go during the week to avoid large crowds. The gift shop is nice but as usual, very expensive.
Sofia Calderon
Very nice experience! I HIGHLY recommend a visit when around Houston. If you love space and nasa topics you cant miss this visit. I feel that some of the attractions can be improved for sure but it is always amazing to see the coming plans of the NASA and the mock of the model that Will go to the moon in 2023!!!
serkan özel
It was my first time. Several people told me it was not worth visiting. However, I think different. It is a place to visit the history of the space adventure. We were there with my kids and they enjoyed it too.
ana tavares
You will need time to visit the site in order to enjoy all that it offers. The entrance is around 30 dollars, and it opens at 10 am. The first thing I advise you to do is to get a map of the place to plan what to do and catch the shuttle, which will take you to visit the Saturn V campus and the control room. Once you are done with that, then you can ride back to the main building to visit the independence Plaza and several exhibitions. The place can be really busy, especially on weekdays due to school visits. There is a pic nic area outside near the parking lot.
If you don't have a car, be informed that it is not easy to get a taxi at the place. The best option is Uber, and if you don't have a local phone network, you can use the free local Web inside the building to use the app. Outside the network may not work.
I was delighted by all the exhibitions and I regret that I didn't have time enough to explore all that there is available. The place is completely different from the Kennedy Space Centre, which is really good because you don't feel like the information is repeated. I definitely recommend the visit.
Mac McBride
Great place to spend the day. You will learn a lot about the space program history. Be sure to go on the app and sign up for the tours before you get there. Blue, white and red tours takenyou to three different places.
Chris Hebert
Such a fun place. Great exhibits. Very kid friendly. Loved walking around reading about the accomplishments of the men and women that took big chances for humanity.
VORASAK
Book your tram tour ahead of time. Saturn IV was massive and impressive. The mock up and training lab didn't look they were still in real usage. The exhibition building was standard.
Brandon Green
Went for the Galaxy lights exhibit. Was impressed with the variety of displays that they have. Was a pretty good amount of walking so plan ahead if bringing small children.
Neika Wolfgang
I was so very excited to visit NASA. I love learning about all things space and could easily have spent more time exploring. I wish we would have had a chance to see mission control, but it was sold out. Maybe next time!
Vipul Dekhtawala
It's great place for all the enthusiasts kids who aspired to be knowing more about soace and history and may be thinking of making a career out of it in future. Tours are ok but the Blue tour is definitely better to learn about their training facility.
Rachele Reyna
Great place to visit but it's important to download the app and get in the tour queue ahead of time. We didn't know about that prior to arrival and because we were limited on time the day we visited, we were unable to attend any of the tours. We visited on a Saturday, and the wait times were over two hours.
Rajiv Batra
Must have for all ages. Great experience of learning about the history and future of space travel. It was a fun day, especially when it was less crowded.. .. I only wish show time is more coordinated, and visible on app, so that people can plan. Also team rides can be more informative.
Claudio J. Alcerro Tejeiro
Great Museum, it was not that easy to find the entrance to the shuttle outside. The tour through the facilities was great, exhibitions and everything else were informative and interesting, definitely a must go, if You go to Houston!
Joshua Winters
It was interesting but surprisingly not the kids friendliest place. The exhibits weren't very interactive and didn't really seem designed for kids. Overall it was really neat and informative but it was hard to spend much time with any of the exhibits with a bored 6 year old pulling you along.
Nicola Casadei
Money worth spent. Make sure to be there early to visit everything, inclused both train tours. It was so cool to see a lot of history and behind the scene were Astronauts trains to go to space
Peter Walker
Beyond awesome . To be able to see capsules that have been into space! We splashed out on breakfast with an astronaut, whilst the food was poor the hour with the astronaut was amazing. Check ahead and see if an astronaut is giving a live talk which is included in ticket price. Only criticism, why limit to 30 minutes? I'd strongly suggest an hours talk minimum as so many fascinating stories to hear ! Overall an outstanding not for profit museum.
Summer “Ghostisum” Ives
Very fun place overall, lots of things for adults and kids to do. Nice selection of snacks and food, while also providing free tours before 4pm. Definitely a place to check out if you love anything space!
I. Hiromi
You would never regret going there!
So many cool exhibitions. It broadens your horizon. I learned a lot there and got a new perspective.
I got goose bumps when I touched the stone from the moon and the one from Mars.
There are really many people so you want to go early. We arrived there at 10AM and for a couple of hours, we could move freely. In the afternoon, I feel like the number of people got triples and could not even move freely and had to stand in line for some cool exhibitions.
It might be faster to buy your ticket there rather than buying it in advance, simply because most of people buy it in advance and only a few go there unprepared (Hence line is way shorter). Haha
anirudh girey
A super great place to make a visit whether your a massive space fan or have a casual interest. It's a great place for families to introduce their kids to our space achievements. In my view nearly on par with the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. But one of the things Houston has over Kennedy is the opportunity to visit original mission control center. There are more than a few artifacts that are one of a kind and can not be seen anywhere else in the world. You do get a Mercury, Gemini and Apollo capsule all beautifully presented. You do get to touch a moon rock- one of only 8 locations in the world. A few hours here may work for some, but a full day still does not get everything in if you linger and soak it in. But sometime is better than no time!
Rajiv Pillai
Definitely a place to visit once if this is a maiden trip to Houston and a place to keep visiting if you are a science geek.
Tip 1 : start your tour at 9am. This ensures you have the best pictures and best views.
Tip 2 : come on a week day. Apparently, the Lunar Command Module tour is not available on weekends.
Tip 3 : Buy tickets in advance online and you land up getting some discounted ones.
Read the lines that have very well written the failures as learnings. Take your time to read through stuff that you might never pay attention to otherwise.
Denisse Lamastra
It was great! We will definitely come back. Just FYI, make sure you go to guess services as soon as you get there to book for the AM Bus. We didn't realize it was that busy, so we couldn't do it because we had to leave. Also, expect lines. But overall, the lines move speedily. Great place!
Meggers McClain
Me and my family had an enjoyable experience here. It was amazing to see how large the rockets are. The place is a little reading heavy, my five year old was definitely running out of patience by the end, but my husband and I and our teenager found it fun and educational.
Radha Pradeep
NASA is a must see place for kids and families!! Lots of informational rocket exhibits and rocket models to view and learn from. Tram rides to space shuttle exhibits are super cool. Just that on rush days, the crowd could be more organized and directed well. The space shows are interesting and planned for different times of the day to allow phasing and planning the day's activities.
The line for the Virtual reality and simulation plane was so lengthy and took few hours to get our turn. Especially some of the VR sets were out of service and causing delays.
Gift store has lots of options to take souvenirs home ranging from magnets, books, t-shirts Legos jewellery mugs tumblers and more
Food court has decent options of pizza, burger, quesadilla, salads and beverages.
Jeff Jones (JJ)
Enjoyed, particularly the exhibits after the theater. We became members and it got us past the long lines and a 10% discount. Well worth the extra cost.
Ulf Joergensen
Very interesting, professional guides and good overal experience with many things to do, especially for younger people. Two very interesting parts (mission control and main info movie) seemed to be closed today... I had preferred to see those very much.
Qaiser Qaiser
My close friends who know me well that I wanted to be an Astronaut as kid and always looked upon the physics and rationality over any beliefs..
Thanks to our marvelous scientists for their incredible discoveries and contributions in every field to make our lives better and sustainable 💕
Visited NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration at Houston. My dream came true.
Luis Diego Pacheco
A #1 must visit in Houston.
Space is all we are, it makes us appreciate our amazing planet. 🌎
Let's take care of it.
It has more value than anyone can imagine! 💎
Muhammad Abbas
In general it's a good place but definitely need a lot of improvements. They got just a handful stuff, and all from last century. There's no new stuff, form their equipments it seems all the space travels happend a century ago.... It's more like a hype. Maybe, good place for school kids. Nevertheless, surroundings and outside look great.
Mark Kitchen
Great experience. A ton of history at this place. Lots of activities for kids and adults. Extra tours are available for an even better experience. I took the "control room" tour, and it did not disappoint.
Víctor
Very interesting place, you got lot of different stuff and never gets bored. It also includes 2 different tours whitin the complex, making the visit yet more interesting.
Definitely you must go if you pass through Houston.
Alexus Metoyer
Buying the tickets online was annoying, so we just bought them when we got there! Parking is $10. You scan the nearest QR code && register your vehicle. We went on a Friday during spring break. The wait to buy tickets took maybe 10 minutes or less. For 2 adults and 4 children ages 6-11, it was $189. The line to enter checkout was long, but it moves pretty fast! The workers are very helpful && know how to get the crowd moving and shorten the lines. When we got inside, it was magical loved the open space. It was a lot of people, but you didn't feel stuffed or on top of one another. There was a map station straight ahead by the Space Center Houston sign to help you navigate through the building. I can tell you be prepared to do some walking and if you're an explorer like me && love reading to be informed of what you're looking at it's gonna take more than a day to cover everything. We arrived at 3p.m. && was there until closing! Literally we was one of the last cars there it was only like 5 cars left in the parking lot. Great experience!! Food was BOMB!!! We had pizza && they are vegan friendly. We didn't get to cover everything because we stopped an eat so we have to plan a second trip! The pizza was like $11 for 4 slices and the cauliflower veggie pizza with vegan cheese was $18 for 4 slices! (Be prepared to spend some money!) Loved it was kid friendly too!! There were games for them to play on and lots of hands-on experiences. Overall, great places to visit! We will definitely be back! Gave it 4 stars because of the hassle of booking online and couldn't get ahold of a human to speak to!
Paul Stanifer
I had an absolute blast at the Johnson Space Center. Get there early so you have time to do all the tours. All the staff were polite and very informed. There is something for everyone here....young and old. Everything is relatively close, the layout doesn't require significant walking. Take yourself or the family...you won't regret it.
Stephanie Szymanski
My partner and I went and we loved it. Im not sure if they have that many school tours each day but there was quite a bit of kids. Other than that it was super cool to see such amazing history. You can go outside and enter a space craft and I highly recommend doing that. There’s also a cafe to eat and get a cup of coffee, along with interactive exhibits though I do wish they had more of them. We didn’t do this but they had a paid breakfast with an astronaut that might be cool to plan for ahead of time. It’s definitely a place we would only visit once but a great experience none the less.
Freddie Flores
We were blown away by how cool this place is! We had fun learning about our space history and future. All the exhibits kept us busy for hours. Would highly recommend visiting this place.
Jason Barrera
This place was nice. The price is a bit excessive for the amount of things you can do. Usually if a place charges 30+ Dollars there are rides and more interactive attractions, like the Houston Children's museum. That place is $15 and there are so many things to do. In order to get that here you have to pay extra. So, total experience with the virtual rides will cost you roughly $50+ per person and kid. Yikes.
Jai Moua
Awesome place to take your kids to explore everything about space and rockets. Entrance fee was fair but the food court prices were a robbery. Bring your own food and drinks.
John Christopherson
The Space Center in Houston, TX is a must visit regardless if you live there or just visiting the area.
There are way too many awesome things to see and do that it is impossible to list them all.
Recommendations:
1) Book your tickets online in advance.
2) Download the Space Center App
3) Book 1 or more tram tours. (The passenger cars are covered but open on the sides, so dress appropriately.
4) Become a member.
5) Get there as early as possible.
6) Bring your mask, as it is required for entry.
Quentin Common
I've been here a few times over the years. Not much changes so my experience each time wasn't very different.
If you have kids and they have never been here before they will love it. Definitely worth a family trip. The Saturn V is the highlight of the trip for me and I never get tired of seeing it.
Hussein HS
Amazing experience if you love space. A friendly advise, plan to spend +4 hours if you want to read descriptions and learn about the projects. I wish I had more time in there!
Frederick Lim
A good place to visit any time of the week, to experience past space accomplishments such as the Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs and current space programs on the International Space Station (ISS) to the future on the Artemis program for new plans on landing on the moon again as well as manned flights to Mars.
Strongly recommended to book tickets online to avoid a queue. With my online booking, I was able to walk in through the online entrance into the Space Center building without queueing.
Siddarth Rahul
Price worthy. Good for family and friends as well. Good amount Information to know about space journey so far. Tram tour was good. For Tram tour we need to register inside near guest center. Overall Experience was Awesome.
David Martinez
I had such a great time here. Best recommendation is to go early. There is so much to see in the museum. The exhibits give a detailed look into the NASA space program from the beginning to the future. Aircraft, suits, live shows, interactive features, and guided tours. It has so much to offer. A great place to visit with your family and/or to bring out of town guests. I would recommend packing a lunch. There are several park benches in the area and there is a bathroom outside of the main building. You can exit and return same day with your ticket purchase.
Petrice Antoine (Niki)
My family and I had a great time. We tried to catch as many live presentations as we could. We learnt a lot. We would definitely go back. Removing one star because we couldn’t hear anything on the tour around the facility.
J. Springer
Highly recommend going. For the money it's great. Get there right before they open and you'll get right through. It's extremely busy in the afternoon but still worth it.

Must visit whenever you’re in Houston! One of coolest experiences ever. Take a deep dive into NASA and it’s missions with lots of real life fascinating displays. Amazing no matter what’s your age. Definitely getting back soon to experience the remaining activities that I did not have time to do. Usually it’s really packed so be there early to be able to see everything.
Jose Koenig
I recommend this place to anyone visiting Houston with an interest in space exploration, science or simply take the kids for an out of this world experience. They have tours to some active NASA labs on weekends and they have on exhibition the only Saturn rocket system which is the only one left in the world from the Apollo program. The exhibition also has a full scale replica of the space shuttle Independence.
Philip Jones
The tour has changed a lot. All you can go visit on the tram is the rocket center. The tour no longer goes to the old command center. Still fun for kids of all ages.
Zahra Ammar
One needs to visit the space center. It is a wonderful experience even if you are not into space and technology too much. We spent the entire day and there were things still left to explore. The Falcon 5 rocket was my most favorite thing.
Cafeteria was a welcome surprise as the food was fresh, freshly fried fries, and fresh baked pizza, and also vegan options that were not very expensive unlike other museums and institutions else where.
Kids will enjoy it for sure, lots of activities for them to explore and learn.
Alyssa Brown
Oh. My. God. A must-see in Houston, what a fantastic day!! Spent the entire day here from open to close and regret nothing. Highly recommend the tram tours, get there and get a reservation early, you can reserve one in the app, then the information desk can reserve the others for you. The shuttle mounted on the 747 and the SpaceX Falcon9 were major highlights. They also have the original capsule from the Apollo 17 mission and a moon rock! You can get freeze-dried astronaut food as well, definitely recommend the ice cream sandwich! My husband told me we're not allowed to come again without him, so we will definitely be back!!

Space Center Houston is an amazing place to visit! They have done a great job of trying to keep the exhibits feeling fresh. It's a good idea to get tickets through City Pass of you plan on seeing several places in Houston. Once you get to the Space Center, you can download an app that allows you to reserve a place on a tour. The tours take you away from the Space Center and into the NASA complex. Tours take you to an actual Saturn V rocket, Mission Control and the astronaut training center. One of the coolest things now at the Center is a Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX! This rocket was used for two missions including the first mission where a SpaceX shuttle docked with the International Space Station. Throughout the day, there is an astronaut that gives talks on missions that they were on and what life in Space is like. There is a food court inside the Space Center. The food is decent. The parking lot is pretty big and there are some shade trees you park under during the hot summer days. One of the coolest things they have is an actual aircraft that carried the space shuttles across the country during the Space shuttle program. On top is a replica of a shuttle. Both vehicles can be entered and viewed from inside. Grate place to take the family and learn some amazing history!
Ksenia Cheh
My dream came true. I wish I had more time to visit every location and take the white tour too. We only went with the blue one and it was neat! Loved the shuttle and the whole history!
Luuk
Interesting and informative place. You can easily spend a few hours here. They got a few real space artifacts and real moon rocks too. Too bad there is no bus going there anymore.
Martin Choutka
The center is indeed very nice, the tram tours are three if I'm not mistaken, but it's hard to go on all of them. You will mainly go to just one of these three, so I recommend to arrive early. After 11AM it can be already late.
Alok Chatterji
Very fun experience. Must visit. Very detailed information. Don't miss the shows, they are great. Very well maintained. Good place to visit with family and kids. I liked the interactive screens and games.
Pro tip : Download the Space center Houston mobile application. You would be able to schedule your rides and skip the long queue. Use the Augmented reality feature wherever possible and get details about the movie shows.
Monse “Dmestar696” Trevino
Awesome experience for the entire family, especially the kids! Lots to do and interactive activities as well! You have to start the day early so you can see it's entirety! Will be going back so I can finish the entire day there!
Thanh Ha
Great place to learn about space, aerospace, science, engineering, rocket, space living, and material at the Space Center Houston. See actual space materials such as a rocket engine, Independent Space Shuttle, SpaceX Falcon, International Space Station, etc. For nature view enjoyment, a few blocks away is a Clear Lake view. Seeing a ski boat riding, walk at a park for a nice calm moment.
Dileep
It is the must visit place if you are coming to Houston. The space center is very informative place. They have arranged lot of areas and programs for getting to know about NASA and space programs.Try to spend at least 2 hour in the space center.
Siva sidhamalli
Loved this place. Unfortunately, I chose a day during the holiday season, and the place was super crowded. It's worth visiting at least once. Take your high school children with you. Younger children and senior citizens may not enjoy so much. If possible, plan as a 2 day visit to see all sections at leisure.
Shaykh M
Perhaps lost its attraction in present world where space isn't a big deal anymore. But still remains as a place for enthusiasts of space, technology and future engineers.
Many relics of space travel and simulators for all ages to play with.
A major attraction is the tram tour. However if you plan to take that, nake sure you make a reservation as soon as you are inside. It can be done using an app or in the info desk. The reservation is free with tickets but has to be done ahead of time due yo limited seat and many enthusiastic visitors.
Another major attraction is level 9 tour and this is a VIP experience. Enthusiasts must do this. Tickets are very expensive at about $180.00. advance reservation is required at least one day ahead of time. This is the best of the deal and completes the NASA museum experience. Tour is about 4-5 hours long and has some restrictions.
Ronnie Layton
Always a great place to visit. You need more than a day to really enjoy and see it all.
Something for the whole family young and young at heart.
Fernando Rodriguez
I have a few things to say about these places, same as with the Kennedy Space Center in FL.
The information they provide and the jobs they do are incredible! Literally taking humankind to space! But that falls through in presentation... it feels as if these centers are afterthoughts added last minute.
My other suggestion, please get rid of the pictures! These seem to be a subcontracted company and they are obtrusive and expensive which none of it is benefial to the center...
The lines at the entrance and to the tram tours were caused by the group photographs they "force" to take, plus the extra cost at the exit just leaves a bad taste withe the guests, many will end just taking a screenshot and leaving.
It is an amazing place, do all three (red white and blue) tram tours if you can, they are all worth it! It would be awesome if they had like a long tour that did all three placeswe did the blue one yesterday and the kids got all bummed out because we couldn't do the red one.
We got in late in the day and passed by the food court, it was full, the food seemed to be OK for the type of place and not super expensive.
Space exploration is super sexy and engaging, we need these places to be more interactive, like a science museum, I know that it is a government facility and all that, but it doesn't have to look like an afterthough.
We would love to come back soon!
Stanislas
I traveled from Los Angeles to visit my family, who moved here for Thanksgiving. Amazing experience! In this place, you will realize what humans are truly capable of. Even the sky is not the limit. The motivation that comes while being in this place is crucial for me and mainly for the next generation. I took some pictures to send to my little brother back home in Cameroon, who is interested in becoming an engineer in electrotechnical as motivation. This place is a must-go whenever you’re in Houston. Thank you to all the staff, especially the tram drivers, they were such knowledgeable and answered my question.
I can't wait to see the first woman of color on the moon.
Space Center, Houston, thank you for having me.
I highly recommend it!
Caleb Carter
Incredible experience and good for the young and old. Honestly, I think I enjoyed it more as an adult that as a child. A wonderful experience that everyone should walk through.
Brandon Boyer
Very cool place. I thought it would be more for a younger generation, but they have plenty for adults too. I went on a day where there was a massive field trip. It might be worth recommending to make a phone call to see if they are going to have a lot of field trips since I did have to wait for certain displays. I recommend buying tickets online. I bought tickets for 11 am since they were sold out for the 10 am availability. I didn’t want to wait so I went up and tried it. They allowed me to go through. I don’t know if it’s because of the field trips or what but definitely buy in advance.
Martinez
We enjoyed our trip at the Space Center. It was very informative and educational. Our favorite part was the trolley tour that took us around to different buildings and we saw astronauts training.
Mirwais Osmani
It was such a great and fun time while exploring the Space Center 😊. Give urself 2 hrs and the general tickets will cover everything unless u want to have breakfast with an astronaut then get a VIP tickets. …
Brittany Savoie
I loved my day at Space Center Houston! Only ranking it a 4 because you have to pay extra to see Mission Control (which is the draw of this particular NASA location), because the timing of the shows and talks wasn't clear the day I was there, and because it is a bit confusing when you are first looking on Google maps (which shows several different locations as NASA here that people have reviewed). This is the visitors center for tourists to see this NASA location, NASA's Johnson Space Center is still a working facility so in order to see anything in those grounds you take a tram tour from the Houston Space Center.
If you want to see everything, prepare to spend all day there. You have to schedule your tram tours ahead (white is the upgraded mission control experience and blue is the free one included in admission). The white tram tour you are able to schedule when you purchase your ticket and the blue one you walk up to guest services when you first get there and schedule it, you have to show timed tickets to board either. I recommend looking at the different events for the day when you plan to go to make sure you schedule your tram tour around the shows and talks you want to see. But I will say the app and the screen located above the tram tour line both listed inaccurate times for the daily events when I was there, so be sure to check the times listed at the big Houston Space Center sign in the middle of the big atrium you walk into after first entering.
I would definitely recommend upgrading to include the white tram tour (the mission control center). The tour takes about an hour and takes you to the actual mission control which is perfectly refurbished to what it was during the Apollo program (even the chairs you sit in!) You get to witness exactly what was on the screens and going on during the first lunar landing and during Neil Armstrongs first steps on the moon, as well as the president calling the astronauts while they were on the Moon. Be sure to be quiet when going up the stairs as the current mission control (a real working space) is just one floor below the original.
The Blue tram tour (free one included in admission) takes you to the astronaut training center and to see the Saturn V rocket. It takes about an hour (don't count on exactly though as mine ran longer than that by about 10 or 15 minutes). You might be lucky enough to see real astronauts training in the training center, we saw one practicing changing tires on a rover while in a suit that stimulates the gravity of any planet they set it to (mostly the moon or Mars in preparation for the upcoming missions).
Overall a good museum just has a few small kinks in my opinion. I did love being able to go in an actual space shuttle in independence plaza though!
ani matias
THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I HIGHLY recommend that you come here. You can walk around and actually interact with little STEM activities about gravity, pressure and different jobs around NASA. It is a great place for all ages and if you want I recommend that you go outside into the spaceship. You can learn more about it and you can get a great view of the place. Never have I felt so excited for a trip and this will truly be an experience that will NEVER forget.Would definitely go again!
Edgar Mánica
It's an incredible place to see real spaceships that were actually in space. Most of the exhibits are for children, but there is a lot of information about the evolution of space exploration, how astronauts live in the ISS, Mars, Apollo Project, etc.
They have the Independence Space Shuttle which is an exact replica of the originals and it is mounted on top of one of the two real Boeing 747s used to transport them. Inside a hangar there is one fully functional Saturn V Rocket, the one that carried the first men to the moon. And they even have a SpaceX Falcon 9 booster!
John Barrett (speedking456)
Awesome experience and I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area. There are attractions for all ages. Kids, teens, and adults will all be able to find something they enjoy. For space nerds, or people who haven’t even seen a space movie, it’ll surely be an enjoyable experience.
Johnson Space Center tours are available, along with many attractions inside the space center. They have multiple simulators, VR and non-VR.
Definitely going back if I’m in Houston again. 5/5
Lisa Hoffmann
I took my teenage grandsons on a trip to the space center. What an amazing experience. The center is an all-day experience, with so much to see and do. Make sure you take all the tours available. There may be a wait, but it is worth it.
Tyler
plan your trip out to get the full exposure of what this place has to offer. The exhibits are impressive! Even well designed to keep all ages engaged as your traverse the grounds. Only complaint is not having enough time.
Tonni Das Jui
Wow i loved it. Overall its a historic place and its very motivational for kids. Btw, when you visit there, you must try to take red tour (nasa rocket showcasing) and white tour (nasa mission control centre). You jave to book seats in them by downlowding the app right after you reach there. The tour booking does not show up if you are a certain metres away of it. You can also try to book some other things like virtual reality show.
Luis Covas
Great Place!! Kids and adults enjoyed it a lot. Got there before opwning, left when it closed. So much history, so interesting.
Tim Dyar
Better than the space center in Florida. You get to tour inside a real space shuttle AND the 747 plane that carried it. Great experience. Would go back again.
S O
Fun experience and kids enjoyed it. It was hard to figure out where to go and what to do though. We waited for the Red Tram and felt like it wasted a ton of time for us to look around at other things. Artifacts were cool to geek out at though.
Yenna McGee
It was an amazing experience and we loved the blue tour. Would love to return there in the future. Take your kids they will love it!
Mary
Wonderful tours provided by people who can answer any question. The history here is amazing. Well worth the trip and close to places like Galveston, TX.
Sorab Talati
Not in active use an interactive museum dedicated to the exploration of space. With so many interactive exhibitions that will keep you and your family engaged. Best to visit on weekends. Bought the ticket at the space center but can be bought in advance. Really had an amazing time and this place is really worth the visit. Highly recommeded. Don't forgot to pick up curios, memorabilia and other nasa stuff however most of the stuff is made in China.
Facilities 5/5

Great place to learn about the space program. Definitely sign up for the team rides first thing (free). There is much to look at and a great deal of hands on activities. Definitely go into the shuttle exhibit and the 747 that carried shuttles around the country.
Food in the cafeteria was appropriately priced but suggest you walk around and look at the options. I got the cheeseburger but would have gotten the pizza, quesadilla or even the salad had I sent them.
Ahmed Hussain
This place was amazing. Words can't describe the experience, whoever gets a chance to visit Space center should do it. Very educational and interesting spot.
Michael Harris
Enjoyed going on a Sunday a bit crowded in the morning but cleared out mid afternoon. Highlights for me were Falcon 9 rocket, Saturn 5 rocket, Control Center tour and capsule displays. After having been to Cape Canaveral and Kennedy space center I was a bit jaded and disappointed, so I would recommend going to Johnson first then going to Kennedy and Smithsonian.
kuldeep kumar
This was amazing experience. I am a space geek and had fun entire afternoon here. You need a whole day to get the best out of your time here. We had only had half a day. The trams for the Saturn 5 leave the center at regular intervals but stops sometime in afternoon. We were lucky to get on the last tram. Make sure you register for the tram as soon as you get here to make sure you get a seat.
Victor Yang
Pretty cool location with lots of info on NASA space travels. Unfortunately there were some parts that were closed/not in operation. There are also tram tours and movies so make sure to catch those!
Jennifer L
Drove 3 hrs from Austin to visit the space center, (booked on Viator for a discount) when you book on the actual site I think its $10 more and you have to pay parking with the ticket. We got there around 945am since our ticket time was 10am. There was a line outside. Before you get there definitely download the app and right when you get in book the tram ride. We booked the white tram which is about an hour ride And it goes to the mission control center. While we waited for our tram we walked around the center which was pretty interesting, but I thought it would be much bigger. Luckily I didn’t pay full price for the ticket. We ate lunch in the cafeteria, got a chicken quesadilla and chicken tenders. Chicken tenders were tasty… quesadilla was the blandest thing I’ve ever tasted. Afterwards went on the tram ride…. The audio on the tram ride is horrible, can barely hear anything that the guide was saying. All in all I’m glad that I got to visit it once but I don’t think I would ever go again
Gordon Jones
Wow. Best tourist thing I've done. Book online for the mission control tour. It's limited to 75 people and its so good you will kick yourself if you miss it. Saturn 5 rocket defies belief. An engineers dream trip
Nicholas Trier
Great 4 hour visit, starting at 9am on Saturday. Too crowded by the end to do more, but should be quieter mid-week. Apart from the Falcon 9 on display, I saw no mention of SpaceX either in the ISS section or in the Artemis section.
Benoît Soufflet
Amazing experience. Lots of things to learn about and discover. You'll need to come early as you'll need the full day to see everything. The tours are a bit slow to get going but are great ways to learn about NASA's history and actual building still operating today!
Ram K
Plan your trip to spend atleast 5 hours at least. Take the tram to go to Saturn V exhibit. Pick a day with right weather, you will not be able to enjoy much on a super sunny day.
William Kofsky
Wow wow wow is my initial thought here! This is hands down one of the best museums I have ever been to in my life. The place is massive, and it has so much information and interactive exhibits that it’s a bit overwhelming. I learned so much about basic life in space to some of the new information about Mars and NASA’s efforts to explore it. This is a very exciting time as they also talk about Artimus, the new moon exploration program which is a stepping stone to explore Mars further. The museum has interactive and craft activities for kids to get hands on experiences understanding some of the information presented. The converted 747 and shuttle are a must in the courtyard. It’s absolutely incredible to step inside two crafts that pushed the building and maintenance of the ISS. Just purely amazing. The prices are great but I do recommend purchasing the membership, it’s $30 above entry for just two adults and it comes with unlimited entries for the year, a discount and free parking. The wait was about ten minutes if you’re walking up to purchase general admission or a membership. Parking is massive and there’s plenty of spaces, as a non member it’s $5 and you pay at the booth. Lastly they offer tram tours, three types, that take you into the actual Johnson Space Center training grounds and the old Mission Control. The prices vary but at the time of my visit it was about $199 for the tours and it is WELL WORTH IT if you love space. Your inner child will cry with awe and joy as you stand in the Mission Control that saved the lives of Apollo 13’s crew. This place is well worth it, you gotta check it out! Also, the prices in the gift shop are beyond reasonable. I expected higher prices and was pleasantly surprised to see such low prices.
Poovalagan Jagadeeswaran
Good and best place for the people who have more interest on knowing the space, satellite and launch vehicles. We went with the family and group of friends all enjoyed the day
Roberto Fanti
Great opportunity to see the Falcon 9, the Space Shuttle, ISS training modules and The Saturn 5 in one place. Worth the money, guided tours are included with the price of the ticket, parking is 5$.
A R
This is a must visit for all space enthusiast or lovers of NASA. I don’t recommend this for children under 5. Especially if you’re planning on taking the tram tour and want to spend time reading all of the exhibits. This was by far the best museum I’ve visited and truly makes me regret not being able to go to space camp.
Miguel Bennasar
Great visiting so much history and to witness current space programs. Easily spend 4+ hours visiting. Shuttle Independence exhibit is great!
Ken Cook
Love this place!! Except maybe the food services. $8 inedible hot dog!!
The displays, interactives are great for kids and big kids, too! Memorabilia from all the space missions dating back to the Mercury program are wonderful to peruse for young and older folks. The walk-throughs of the Shuttle and 747 mockup, historical Mission Control room and especially Rocket Park where you can be amazed at the size and obvious power of a Saturn V booster are really cool for us big kids!
I grew up with the space program right down the road so this is a great place to go revisit it all and learn about what's to come!
Yes, I got an Artemis cap!!💕🚀🛰
Hynek
Amazing space experience - you'll see many working attractions, great exponates, real and massive spaceship and spacecraft mounted on Boeing ... Plus exciting stuff like Moon Rocks, 3D simulators... Can't recommend it enough, plenty to do and see for everyone
ed merkle
Totally worth the trip. Really great for kids. The building is cool but for me the Independence Plaza and Saturn V rocket park were the coolest.
Jesse Ehlinger
I've been to Space Center many times over the years, and it never fails to thrill and impress! The new Artemis moon missions and Mars missions were front and center this year, with many interactive and fun exhibits on display.
This visit was also the first time in many years that I took both of the tram tours around Johnson Space Center, and it was more spectacular than I remembered! The new and improved retro Apollo Mission Control viewing room was fantastic, and the simulation of the Apollo 11 moon landing was exhilarating!
Eltoreon Hawkins
Really enjoyed my self and learned alot. Multiple large theaters in here if you are a visual learner. I shocked me to see these things in person that I been seeing on TV all my life. I advise buying the tour for mission control online before you go because I was sold out first couple hours of opening. If you can avoid h members day do it cause it was packed.
Jonathan Southworth
Great place to learn about space and see great artifacts from history. Amazing to be able to see moon rocks.
Only reason it is a 4 star is the reason on how they organize and advertise the team tours. Not very obvious on how you need to sign up for the tours. People had to ask the employee by the tram entrance about every 30 seconds. Even on the app it's a bit weird. Then when you get added to a queue you can have a 4hr wait till the next available tram for the tour you want. Plus that is the only way you can get to see the Saturn V. So if you want a tram tour (which you will) sign up right when it opens or before if that is an option.
Ryan (CyrusDrake)
Really cool place to take your kids. I believe it is paramount that we all embrace space and science in general. This is worth every cent in that regard. It will teach you about space history from how the U.S. accomplished the incredible feat of being the first to land on the moon all the way to the more recent SpaceX's successful launches and NASA's planned Artemis mission to return us to the moon. It is one thing to read about it on TV but it is another to see the rockets and space suits up close. My favorite exhibit was obviously the Apollo missions to the moon. It is truly inspiring to see this in a new light even though i've heard about it all my life. I could probably spend all day here but it's time to move on when you got little kiddos. I'll try to come back when they're older and can take their time a bit more.
EV US
We decided to visit this place after visiting over and over again KSC in Florida, which I must say is way better than this location. Even so, we decided to organise everything by purchasing our tickets online and booking our Tram time to Mission Control online too. Here is where the problem started:
1. The website says that purchasing the ticket in advance you avoid the queue: wrong. We also printed the tickets to show at the booth yet they advised us to join the very long queue in the hot March sun (80 degree F - just under 30 Celsius) like everybody else. This was before 10am when they were opening the building. I would recommend not to make the effort to come well in advance, unless it is school holidays when probably would be madness. If your ticket is in the afternoon, probably arrive right on time. At least our queue was moving fast
2. We purchased the General admission ticket which gives you access only to the area where several exhibits are, plus shop/food court etc - is a bit of a madness here and probably worse during school holidays. From here you can access the Tram tour area located on the right hand side of the building: there is lots of staff to direct you here
3. We also purchased online the Mission Control Tour (there are several more expensive tours you can purchase online) and booked it for 10.40am being the first time they started that day. Organise your time here based on what time you want to take the tram to your chosen tour (Mission Control tour is the cheapest) and make sure you book the Tram online for the time it suits you to visit whatever you want to visit).
4. The way it works here is that you are taken by their 'trams' (basically those several open cars driven by the guide) and taken from the General Admission area into the area where several dozens of building are still being used by NASA staff, spread over a large area which you could not cover on foot (check Google satellite view, if you are curious).
5. The Mission Control building housing the floor where the first Moon landing was 'observed' from, so everything is as it was in 1969 - the rest of the building is an 'active building' meaning you have to keep quiet, and annoyingly, you have to leave your bag/cross over in the non-manned but CCTV covered area on the ground floor. This is a government building and everything should be safe, they say. This tour lasted under one hour
6. Back to the tram and you are taken back to the General Admission area where you can see the rest of the exhibits etc
7. As we arrived the car park barrier was up, but we paid the 10 USD parking fee as we reached the booth before accessing the General Admission area, upon arrival. Check their site what items you are allowed to bring with you - a security guy checks everybody's bags.
8. Check the maps/details etc I have uploaded here - I wish I knew and had in advance all this information.
As I said, great place, Cape Canaveral is a bit better, Houston is a bit disorganised and the info on the site is not entirely accurate regarding some issues detailed above. They might be important to you as they were to us.
Clint Kingsbery
Amazing experience. Got to see a live launch from the center and breakfast with an astronaut, while expensive, was absolutely with it. Many wonderful exhibits and ways to engage.
Lalit Sharma
It is fascinating place even if you are not interested to visit. Trams will keep you entertaining. Must visit once atleast. Restrooms available. Souvenirs bit costly.
Shrinkhla “Sam”
You can spend a full day here.
Things you spying not miss are the tram rides. There are 3 different, if you have time do go for all.
ΕΛΕΝΗ ΖΟΥΜΠΟΥΛΙΔΟΥ
It s Must to visit it when come in TEXAS! It s really very inetrating for everyone ! Stay and enjoy for 3 hours at least! Take the train outside to make a visit to independance plaza ! Take photos speak with an austronaut
Rick Gray
Have been here in 25 years but still a great place to see how space exploration has evolved. $27.50 for senior admission. I didn't arrive in time to reserve a tram tour of Johnson Space Center but they said it was included in admission so get there early. Lots to see and learn. Educational areas for all ages. Movies and a VR ride. Souvenir prices are literally out of this world so be prepared for the cost though.
J.R. Cohen
Absolutely incredible experience. So impressed! I never ever get tired of this. I could visit here once a month and still not get enough. Truly great place and I highly recommend coming to this place. Always throughout the year they have so many events and additional options. Oblivious this a great place for kids.
Chris Eberly
Fantastic display of the space program, highly recommend it. My only disappointment, borders on sadness, is the apparent neglect of the property/buildings and even the rockets/spacecrafts. The black organic growth on the buildings, green algae and even lichen throughout the grounds takes away from this wonderful historic facility. Maybe it's funding, but cleaning up just the algae and lichen on the spacecrafts would go a long way of representing the beauty of the US space program. Someone needs to open a Home Soft Wash franchise in Houston.
Willdra
This is a Houston must do! Go early so that you can take one of the free tram rides. There is so much to see and do, it can’t be done in one trip. Space Center Houston is very well put together and there’s something for everyone.
Stratmangler 27
Great place to take curious little ones, even adults will love the items on display. Amazing trivia about the organizations history and ongoing program.
Brian Speck
We had a most enjoyable day here. We were so taken in by the exhibits that we failed to register that it was raining with thunder and lightning.
I really enjoyed the timeline exhibition of American spaceflight. The Mercury and Gemini capsules suspended from the ceiling in the gallery were amazing. The patches for all of the missions up until Apollo 17 were most interesting.
Both the ISS exhibit and the orientation, given by the entertaining Dillon on the ISS stage, were a lot of fun. There is no up or down in space and your "Sleep Restraint Unit" SRU can be on any wall. He called it a combination Straight Jacket/sleeping bag. Plus water will not evaporate in space. It will float around until it joins up into a larger ball or hits something absorbent.
We took a break and had lunch, no money changes hands as you have to use a kiosk. I ordered the cheese burger & fries and neglected to select the bun option. You print off your receipt and move on over to whichever meal location that you'd chosen.
Due to the storm we had to wait for our Blue tour for over 90 minutes. Eventually we boarded the Mercury shuttle. Our host "Killan" was using the the PA system and it was akin to "Charley Brown's adults" speaking in the first trailer. Killan stressed the rules and didn't seem to enjoy her job or maybe it was the heat affecting her mood. Seeing the mock-up building was interesting, but not waiting over 90 minutes interesting. There was no stop at the Rocket park for the Blue tour. However, we did pass by a few Texas Longhorns.
The Shuttle mockup and transporter was a well presented display.
The gift shops during the weather delay, were both jam packed and it was a bit of a struggle to see everything available.
All in all, a great day of learning.
De paseo Con BAS
It has a good history, it was to crowded for my self. And they do not let you see properly. We had a 1hr lane for something that was not worth it.
Robert Davis
I love how they they had Isaac asimov's Foundation we rode on two trams but couldn't get to the last one for the time also need more clarification on trams where to go where to meet up Etc overall was a good experience though.
Maurice Garlet
If you are traveling to this area it's a must see. The main building is a bit small but very interesting. One of only 8 places in the world in which you can touch a moon rock.
Carlos Reta
Went to galaxy lights. It was a chilly night but so much fun at night. The stores and hot chocolate were good too. Firepits to make your stores.
Alyce Meserve
Nice, small space center with amazing 747 and shuttlecraft. You can buy tickets at the door, online, or through 3rd parties like Viator. I saved $5 by using Viator. Then I just scanned the QR code they gave me and was admitted into the museum.
Houston's space center is quite different from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It's much smaller and operates in one building.
There are tram tours, and I signed up for one, but there was a 2+ hour wait because I got there at 2pm. If you want to do a tram tour, get there at 9 or 10am. Houston can get very hot, so waiting until the afternoon can give you heat exhaustion. Also, the tram tour is outdoors, so make sure you have water, sunglasses and sun protection like SPF clothing or sunscreen. Also consider a hat. Houston's space center has an overview of the main space programs as well as future programs like returning to the moon and Mars. I really wanted to see Mission control but that tour was not available.
There is a cafeteria where you can order food from a digital kiosk and they prepare it for you. However, you can bring in outside food like a sandwich, snacks, and water. It's a reasonable accommodation for people with dietary needs like diabetics. Don't bring in a cooler full of food because they will confiscate that. They will also search large bags or purses, however, they waved me through with a backpack.
The 747 is set up as a museum and I spent most of my time there. You can also take the elevator up into the orbiter's cargo bay and capsule areas. There is no access to the 747's flight deck. The main area of the 747 is air conditioned, but getting to it and using the elevator is in the open air.
Overall, this is a great place to bring kids because there are many hands on exhibits children can interact with. For more familiar space fanatics, particularly those who have been to KSC before, you may not find much that's new except the 747. There is also a Space X rocket on the grounds, but I did not go see it since it was so hot.
John Petersen
We came down to the Space Center as part of an anniversary celebration. We wanted to do the Astronaut training tour and that only goes Monday through Friday. We did the tour on Friday and unfortunately it was field trip day for several schools so it was PACKED!!!
All of the exhibits are great, but the best part was the VIP tour. Brenda was our tour guide and Alice was our driver. Both were fantastic. You cannot help but be amazed at the work these smart engineers and scientists are doing at NASA.
We got to see the Neutral Buoyancy Lab, several simulators, Valkeri Robots, and so many other cool things.
PL
The Space Center is a great place to bring out-of-town visitors to visit, spend half a day, then go to Kemah, etc. There are quite a few unique artifacts, including a space shuttle mounted on a 747 and the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, and a Saturn V rocket that’s displayed at a warehouse that required a tram ride to get to, and one has to get a reservation to get on the tram ride. There are many interactive games for the children to keep them occupied. The price for a single admission is steep, in my opinion. However, if you join one of the membership levels, it may be worthwhile.
Omid Aria
It was worth visiting.
Recommend to arrive early since they close at 5pm.
I arrived at 2 pm and did not get to see everything closely.
Paola Ortega
Great museum to visit! I love that they care for the service of Veterans & offer military discount. Only downside is that they require face masks to enter. Be sure to check out the gift shop! You'll find plenty that will catch your eye. And word of advice, avoid the dehydrated ice cream sandwich on the wall! Not too pleasant but certainly was a unique experience.
Richard Ferris
Nice big place lots of 1970s and 1980s space technology to see however if you have high hopes for NASA's future what you'll see here is merely a regurgitation of the past with no new Lessons Learned From the private endeavors
Very nicely done semi-decent tram tours and a good number of interactive exhibits for the Young
They represent great plans for the future of the Moon and Mars yet are relying completely on the past for their technology
Still a very worthwhile visit just to see the large missiles the space shuttle and 747 that carried it as well as the really nice to prepare displays
Brinda Rao
A great way to spend a day learning about space exploration and space travel.
Highly recommend to reach early. Book Red or Blue tours in advance by joining their virtual line via mobile app or at the guest services at the location.
Couple of EV charging stations are available.
Kevin Huff
Wonderful experience. Great exhibits and super fun to explore. Lots to see do yourself a favor and set aside at least 5 or 6 hours to get the full experience.
Jateen Desai
Memorable Experience..I wish I had more time to explore this..Will come back surely..The staff is very polite and helpful. Do visit the gift store for mesmerizing souvenirs.
Den F. J
Best place to enjoy with the family its awesome learn Abiud the Spaces missions!
My family and i really enjoy all Tours, but specially the mission apollo, because you can learn more about the historical moment when the man can walk in the moon at first time…
Akbar Nadeem
Great place for people of all ages from kids to adults many things to do here such as two tram tours that teach you about space and NASA
Kyle Templeton
Very well set up with real NASA items. Neat gift store and even has a food court. I Wish we had more time there.
jaciel castro
Exceptional films, exhibitions and artifacts. Good mix of walking and tours and times to sit with the theaters. Kids had a ton of fun!
Soyoung Kwon
My kids really loved this place.
They are 1 and 3 years old.
Tram tour was the best.
Elsonian K
An inspiring tribute to the imagination, motivation, creativity, perseverance, of a dream. Belonging to something bigger than yourself and including all mankind...simply Awesome.
Imran Lakhani
We heard so much about Space Center Houston that it was impossible to miss it when visiting TX. Since i heard so many good reviews about it i had lot of expectations but i was honestly not very impressed. For starters its like a big open area so you initially don’t know where to begin. There are 3 pathway rides (Red, Blue and White). So if you do those as soon as you arrive it will save you hassle of being in que. We did only Blue and it was boring as well. The virtual reality is for extra cash so buy that if you like to do it otherwise it gets sold quickly. We planned to spend whole day there, but left in half day. Pretty average experience for us.
Location - Star - 8.5 / 10
Ambiance / Environment - Star - 8.5 / 10
Cleanliness - Star - 8.5 / 10
Service - No Star - 7 / 10
Value for Money - No Star - 7 / 10
Above format would be best to justify my review so i will hopefully continue to keep this for all my next reviews.
Matt Healy
Great experience if you're at all interested in space. Be sure to save time to check out the rocket garden. And try not to spend too much at the gift shops. (I failed on that one, and was happy to do so.)
Lenny Cheng
an hour away from houston international airport.
impressive experience with the tour from different building to see the development of current nasa project. a bit of top secret feel.
canteen meal so far so good.
merchandise not eye catching.
Wiki Steve Felton
If you don’t like big slow moving crowds I suggest you look at off peak times. We went Friday afternoon but they start closing the exhibits early at 1630. I spoke with the help desk about this and got free admission the next day. We arrived at 10am and the place was absolutely packed! Tried the red team tour and was not impressed. The line to see the spaceship DISCOVERY replica was from the ground level all the way to the top story. I wonder where the funding goes, facilities are old with much needed attention to paint and landscaping.
Nataliia Kondyk
It was interesting to visit place but we didn't know that in order to get to the train you have to book a seat in their app beforehand. So we couldn't get it, what was disappointing. Will have to try next time. However it's not that cheap 🤷♀️ …
Ann Nix
My husband, grandchildren, and I loved Space Center Houston! The games held my grandchildren's attention for hours. The tram tour was very interesting! The coffee was delicious. The restrooms were clean. We had a fun and educational experience at Space Center Houston!
Cheng En Yang
Highly recommend family to come together. Great place to get a closer look at the spaceship and everything. Download the SCH (Space Center Houston) to register for your bus and more. I recommend the white and blue line for the tour.
Palmtree Coconut
Going on the tram tours are great, have reserve early to get them all it's included in entry ticket..try to have them seat ya farther back so you can actually hear the tour guide..we could hear a word he was saying
A Porat
A must stop if you’re in Houston. Worth getting the Houston city pass ticket to get a bunch of attractions in Houston. Also make sure you download the Houston Space Center app to order tram tours.
Thomas Lönngren
A very interesting exhibit about the past and the future of space exploration. Amazing to get to be inside Independence and walk around the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket! Unfortunately som rain put a stop to the tram ride visiting the huge pool and Saturn V rocket 🚀. But next time I will definitely try that!
paty quirt
But your tickets in advanced. You will save 20%. Download the app in advance. Once inside book your trip for the Blue tram. Then go to the customer service and book the white tour
Cornelia Hilpert
Very informative visit. Excellent exhibition with special children's area. Trip around on the Space Center grounds and buildings was exceptional. The special photography session was good, but the picture quality could be better for this price!
MR “Al B”
Space center Houston is a very educational experience that will fill your mind with all kinds of space explorer information. I wouldn’t take my smaller children as it can be kind of boring and a lot of reading. They have tours that take you into the training facility of the astronauts and take you around to look at the different things on site. We attended the Galaxy Lights and it was very nice for free tickets. I don’t know that I would pay that much for regular tickets.
Kyoshi Karl K. Wagner
A great experience! So much interactive learning here for both adults and children. We are so glad we took the day to visit this place!
Becky Gonzales
Mask required, no exceptions. Cool tour, sit on tram with Maddie. Great tour guide🤗
Tips: If buying tickets on site use self service, to avoid long line. Best bet, buy on line & parking ticket too. Go to bathroom BEFORE tram tour, it is a long your. Only bathroom is at end by Saturn V to the far right side. Where you board on trams. Wear comfortable shoes, you will walk. Astronauts speak at 11:30 & 1:30, stay if you can. Also, trams are wheelchair accessible. Have fun ya'll!
Kadosa Varga
Unbelievable experience, not just for space nerds. The main exhibition itself is very interesting and you can surely spend a few hours with it, but the tram tours are the best. The Blue line shows you the old mission center (the one which was used for the Apollo missions) and the world's only assembled Saturn V rocket (also from the Apollo missions). The white line takes you to the astronaut training facility, where you can see actual working people and astronauts on a weekday along with manyreal spacecrafts and training copies. 100% recommended.
Luke Dahl
Great place to see the evolution of the space program and see how NASA accomplishes many amazing things. Plan to spend at least four hours if you can.
Aiswarya Abhisek Mohapatra
Sadly the guided tour for the day was overbooked and we were left disappointed not to get a chance to visit inside. Just clicked some pics from outside and left. I recommend to book tickets in advance even if you are visiting on weekdays.
edik kliger
Visited in space center yesterday with my family ( 3 kid and my wife). We did the red and blue tours. There'd tour is tran that takes you to the rocket gurden, blue tour takes you to iss mockup and rocket garden ( so visited rocket garden twice :). The kids loved the draw you own badge and what would you take to space activities. Few recommendations: alote of electronic activities for kids bo not work and gust seams obsolete, need to be rocket scientist to order and track tours on the app
Javier Luis Castillo
Great place to lern. Personally I do not think is worth to take the blue tram they rushed you during the visit an not time to explore
Richard Holter
Great way to spend an entire day. There is so much to see and do with wonderful tram tours.
Dagoe Marse
You have to visit this place it’s super fun and interesting they take you on a tram car tour of the place we got to see astronauts at work their station learn a lot about space their gear saw multiple rockets !! So much to see here ..
Mark Stewart
The museum was not very exciting, but the tram tour was fantastic. We went on the Astronaut Training Center tram tour; the other tram tour goes to the restored Mission Control Center from the Apollo age. It was amazing.
Good safety precautions taken; reduced capacity, excellent cleaning of tables in food court, mask requirements strictly enforced, especially on team tours.
María Luna
Came in here for the first time with my son school class the kids had an amazing time learning about the space , astronauts and the air space . The gift shop was great lots of buddies to choose . Will be coming back in the summer .
mohamed bharmal
Great exhibits. Highlight was the appollo space mission control centre which has been updated to show exact details from the original mission control.
Keep note of wait times to reboard the red tram as there was a humongous line at the rocket silo and they don't tell you this when you board the tram.
All in all it was an amazing experience
Kathy T
Amazing! So detailed. Take the team rides. Do the white first and then the blue. We were there from 10-5, didn't drop to easy, and didn't see it all. Lots of interactive exhibits
Anne Sturm
If you are a NASA lover then this is a must do stop. I did a 4 star because I didn't get to do one of the tours. I was not aware that the tours get filled up so early in the day. I was there right after noon and they were all booked for the day. Otherwise the rest of the museum was fun. Lots of interactive stuff for kids. Going to see the rocket and the carrier plane was fun! A lot smaller than Kennedy space station.
Valeria Juarez (Valeria Juarez)
Had a great experience, you can have different type of tickets, this time general admission, they had Mars exhibits and the Moon experience, go and enjoy a nice time getting to know more about NASA work, history and have fun with your friends or family. Bring coins with you to create a souvenir with quarters and pennies. Stars exhibit and kids crafts available.
Bought tickets online, skipping line at the main entrance you can also pre pay for parking.
Bring comfortable shoes because you're going to walk a lot. Allowance for souvenirs at the gift shop, they have postal cards, keychains, bottles, mugs, all NASA merchandise, including books.
Don't miss the experience, highly recommend to visit with the family and friends.
Monica Keller
Such a delight to our hearts! One recommendation is to have zone tour to be accessible with transcripts for those who wish to read written English.
Brandy Leonard
It was a family first for us and we would highly recommend going.
The museum is a little pricey across the board, food/admission/parking but the educational piece and the forthcoming funding appropriation outweighed the pinch in the pocket!
Our sons were thoroughly engaged with all of the interactive displayed, augmented realites and simulators.
The gift shop was fully stocked and had great merch.
The food lab got the job done and filled our bellies.
We all were amazed to "meet" Valkarie and walk through the original space lab. The sheer size of the Saturn V is almost comprehensible.
Sunny Bansal
Amazing stuff, missed out on couple of rides due to the fact of overly busy due to School holidays. Kids had fun and would love to do it again.
Juanita Bright
This was awesome! Lots of things to see. Make sure to sign up for the tram tour, it's free! We took the blue tram tour. Very busy when we visited on the Sunday before Christmas.
Bruno Cendón
One of the best places in the world if you love to learn about the human space race, with special focus in the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttle and ISS missions. Advice if you go as a family: check the membership, it could be totally worth it even for only one visit (early entry, discounts, booking online of tours...). It was a game changer for us
Sarav S
It was a great experience. You would love it if you have patience to read and learn. You can purchase the tickets from the space center website or other apps with discounts.Don’t forget to book your tram tour as soon as you entered into the space center. Otherwise, this will take long time. You can reach out front desk or space center app to book the tram tour. There are 2 tram tours and both will be good.
J Allen (LuluTopSionMid)
It is great to look at the many things there, wish I could have seen the lights.
The only problem right now is that some of their classic hands on activities and some of their newer hands on activities are either partially or complete broken.
The Land the Shuttle game on the second floor, the joystick is broken in the left seat, and the joystick in the right seat doesn't turn left.
In the Docking game the joystick didn't move left.
I think it would be OK to lay the $500 to fix these issues, especially when fixing them will bring repeat customers.
When the products work, the customers return more, yes?
Carl Tilden
Very enjoyable! Great to take kids that are curious about space. Elevator available for all tour stops.
DTanyion
Great experience. The tram tour was fun and lots of photo opportunities. A great time for anyone interested in science or the space program
D Z
Wonderful examples of space exploration, its history and its future with Artemis. There were hands on exhibits of both moon and Mars rock(s).
Great for families to visit.
Libby Staebell
Lots to see, not much to “do”. If you’re older and interested in learning about the space program, this is for you. If you have a family with young kids, then it’s probably not. Adding a few more interactive exhibits would cater this center to all visitors. My kids found it kind of boring.
Robert Swindle
Fantastic adventure. Excellent facility friendly staff very helpful. A great experience for adults and kids.
Eddie Rojas
Wow has this place changed from what it was 10 years ago. There are things here and there that you will find are familiar but NASA is absolutely keeping up with technology. The exhibits are interesting and full of information. They promote change and academics while providing interactive explanation to adults and children alike. I arrived with a group of 90 people and the experience for every single person was a positive one from our arrival to our departure. Thank you Space Center Houston, until next time!
Brian Bartsch
lots of fun and very informative. a great place to learn about new stuff. the tram tours are worth going on ,and the imax type movies are great too.
JG Travels
Not the perfect season to visit. The place was crowded this holiday season. Long lines at the ticketing and entrance. Not enough time to enjoy the whole NASA experience. Maybe next time.
G. H. C.
Active duty was free. Awesome.
There was no employees around anywhere to help guide a little bit other than employees in the shop. There were plenty of them but nobody to even ask some simple questions.
We wasted at least 20+ minutes to look for things on the map...
Somewhat disappointing. I expected a lot more from the NASA.
candace S
Friendly staff. Try to come on a sunny day of you want to ride the tram. Teenagers may be bored. Great for younger kids.
Rashmi G
Visited in 2017, one must visit NASA which gives good exploration of space.
Kids will enjoy and gain knowledge about space. Well organized programs and guide.
M.R.
As a space enthusiast, I enjoyed my time in the centre at Nasa.. It’s very informative and there are multiple shows during the day.. Especially B747 is mind blowing! I’d recommend here everyone..
Shuja ul Haque
Very good place for space enthusiasts. It takes a good half a day to see and experience all that this place has to offer so it's better to plan your day accordingly.
Eve Lebron
Fun, informative and interactive place to go with kids and family. Is an all day activity with the tours and different sections but they do have a cafeteria to grab a bite.
Devansh Khanderia
Lovely experience with lots of history about the adventures in space. Plenty of food options. You can easily spend a few hours here.
Elio
Space Center Houston is always amazing. I just wish they cleaned the 3 story spaceship. It always kinda smells in there. The experience was great tho. Not a deal breaker.
Minnie Carroll
We had such a great time here! Two adults and one youth. There was a lot of information to learn.
LeeAnna Springer
$29 at the door + $5 parking
$24 on Tiqets.com ...purchased them online and got them in 5 min, no lines and no paper tickets.
Be prered to take a good photo at the door.
Masks required from that point on
Download the Space Center app to reserve the tours you want and understand the map.
Lots of interactive things for kids.
Lots of interesting facts and gems to read about and see.
Mia Yuan
Hands down one of the most fun things to do in Houston. The guides are super nice and it’s unbelievable we got to see next generation robots and space shuttles and astronauts. If you visit Houston, this is a must-go.
Doug Cline
Fantastic place to take the family or anyone into space. Being from the space coast in Florida, this is an awesome experience seeing the connection Houston has to Cocoa. We try to go to all the events and will re-up our family membership when that time comes.
50 What Now
Wow so cool to see the center where all the US space travel originates. There is a lot to see, including being able to get on an actual funtioning space shuttle. It's hard to believe you can enter into a machine that was in space.
This is the future for sure!
Ting Cheng
Remember to arrive early so that you can reserve the tram tours on the app! The tram tours were already fully booked when we arrived. What a pity! The rest of the center is still worth visiting especially the "Touch the Moon".
Susan DiRanna
We went on Halloween, and they had little tables set up with candy for the kids, and were handing out bags. They also had a DJ playing music (not sure if that’s an everyday occurrence, or just because it was Halloween) We took the Tram tour. Their app is not very user friendly. I’m pretty savvy with technology and apps, but this was just not user friendly. I signed us up, and then it errored out and I had to ask the girl working the tram area what to do since it was no longer showing on my phone. She confirmed that we were on the list so it was all good.
The tram tour was good, had plenty of time to see everything. Make sure you use the restroom before the tour as there is not one until the last stop.
Nice thing they had were boxes that you could rent phone battery charges. Mine had died minutes after I plugged in my phone to charge, so it was nice they had them. It was $5 to rent.
We live in the Space Coast In Florida, so we have been to Kennedy Space Center a few times, and I actually enjoyed Houston’s Center more.
Shine Thomas
Beautiful place, very well maintained. The famous "Houston we have a problem" was addressed to this space and one can see the same command center shown in the movie Apollo 13. Lot of things to see around. One can cover this place in half a day. Here also one can touch a moon rock and also can see the command module which travelled all the way back from space to earth.
Cherry Chen
We didn’t buy tickets in advance and didn’t get to the Apollo tour. Definitely worth to coming, the experience is amazing. We spent over 4 hours in there and felt it’s not enough still
Laroy Burgess
Purchased tickets online and was automatically charged $10.00 for parking. The place has plenty of worth wilde displays. We arrived at opening and we one of the first in. The app was not working to allow us to book our tours on the trams. We had to wait in line for those passes. Later in the day we were able to book the other tram tour online. Both tours are worth going to see. The only thing we noticed is that the amount of kids was a lot less after 2:00 pm. That would not be an issue if parents teach their children about waiting in lines and pushing buttons while people are reading about displays. Then they run to the best display to push more buttons.
Dikla “Diklalo” R
Bust experience I've had ❤️ super recommend 👌
Don't go on holidays. Super crowded
Download the nasa space center app and sign in for a trem tour in advance. It will update you when to come to the line.
White is the best tour then thr blue one and lastly is the red. (Red tours are available after the white and blue ones are over.)
Use app to listen to expansions on everything and see videos
Food and souvenirs shops are very expensive And you can't bring food from the outside. They check bags.
thewavin ace
This experience was amazing! There is lots of history and places to explore. Highly recommend for people who have lots of time to go exploring at all the activities!
David V
This place made me nerd out. 1. To all my weapon carrying kin remember that this place is off limits and not the “we prefer” but rather legally posted. 2. Definitely get here early because this place gets packed!! It is great for children and adults alike. Take your time, go slow or you will miss things. The mini movie they play showing the ISS was really informative. It’s cool seeing the items on the floor they use and then seeing in action in space. Expect to spend 4-5 hours here if you do everything.
Bradley Tharp
Plan to spend the entire day. I will defiantly come back for more. No way to see it all in one day. I did both tram tours which are both recommended. Everyone was professional and courteous.
Cynthia A
Amazing experience! We spent 6 hours experiencing every section, tram tour, and show.
Michael Cheek
Truly interesting and historic. Everyone should visit once. Mission Control from the moon landing is extraordinary. Employees could work on being more polite and communicative. Waited on the tram tour — sitting in the tram — for 25 minutes. Watched other tours leave. And when we finally went, no one apologized or explained the delay.
Žilvinta Sušinskienė
Absolutely loved it. So much to see and explore. Really great both blue and white tours. Nice staff😊 highly recommended!!! …
Katharina Baendl
We read that you typically spend 3-4 hours there. Boy, is this wrong...
If you can read, if you like to learn things, if you like to understand things, if you are remotely interested in life, space, science, earth, even philosophy, please come as soon as they open, secure your seats on the trams, catch a tour, talk to people working there, buy a membership and leave no earlier than when they close. And bring a sandwich or two.
林彥成
Good Museum for space knowledge with all age! I spent entire day here (10-5) and had a lot of fun!
Heather Copass
Went for a culture workshop. I've made so many new friends and partnerships. It was absolutely amazing and everyone was exceptional.
Sss Kkk
Loved it here. Recommend you going on the 2 tours they are free with the admission. Also get them on a back to back time so you can get on the next train without waiting.
Robert Martin
Really cool place to visit. Plan your trip and ride the tours.. epic
Alona Chiong
This place has so much to offer. Perfect for school fieldtrips, family bonding & those who wants to learn about rockets, moon, astronauts & how they managed to travel in the outer space. We had so much fun & we learned lots of important facts when we visited this Space Center.
Mustang Kai
My wife and I had a great time here. Be prepared to stay at least half a day cause there is so much yo absorb here. From the tours to info cinema you will come out with a new perspective and respect for the hardworking folks at NASA.
Isabelle Mendizabal
Came to see the lights, and man I enjoyed it so much! I loved the space themes through out each little display and there is even a place by the big shuttle to buy a s’more kit (fireplaces included) and hot chocolate !! Looking at the lights and eating a s’more was the best part. $6 s’more kit and a long line at peak times, it was worth it. Wished it was colder out though so I could really enjoy it more. The ticket lets you walk inside space center too so we were here for a good while.
Arju Lembet
Fun and educational as usual. The new food court is great so many selections and delicious
John Hanlon
Pro tip: Sign up for the tram tours immediately upon arrival. There should be a kiosk near the front entrance. If there aren't any tours left, try walking on after boarding has begun. A few seats were open and workers allowed us to hop on last-minute.
Julien Chaou
Great experience! That immersion in Nasa's history and future ambitions was amazing! It's really worth the time 😉
Betty Bernard
The Galaxy of Lights were amazing. My two yr old grandson enjoyed it. We took some wonderful pictures.
Meggie “Meggie with an 'e'” Mangione
We had the raddest time exploring Space Center Houston! Very immersive experience, I would recommend the red tram tour and purchase when you arrive. Skip the VR, just okay. Exhibits enjoyed from a 4 year old to a 40 year old!
H
Out of state tourist here. Don’t do what we did. When you enter the building there isn’t any direction on how it works when it comes to the tours. We had limited time and wasted it. we walked in and went straight to gift shop. after that we took our time walking through basically the main lobby area. Then we make it to the tour part, we didn’t realize everyone in the tour line was pre registered so the tour was full and tour staff directs us to front desk to register for next round. We wait in long line at front desk staff just for them to tell us registration is closed for the next hour, tour slots are limited and we race to book when the time rolls around and then tour doesn’t start for another 1 1/2 hours and the tour itself is 45 min. We ran out of time and canceled our tour time. Book your tour the second you get there or prior on the app and THEN take your time walking around while you wait.
Vern Rogers
The Houston Space Center is excellent. There is plenty of things for people of all ages. If you have a membership at an ASTC network museum, admission is free. Parking is $5. The cafeteria is solid museum fare and the tours are really interesting opportunities to see NASA staff at work.
Get there early if you want to do the tours and if you're using the ATSC pass for tickets, go to guest services first.
Shaun Ironmonger
Great experience. But expected to be able to see the Saturn 5 without paying a lot extra for a specialised tour. Line up was also extremely long. Recommend pre purchasing tickets.
Köninglich Hüter
One of the best museums in all Houston Texas. This is a must do tour for the visitors of the city and for those who is interested in Aeroespacial topics.
Sanette Zietsman
They have a simulation area on display ‼️ Most informative. I think you can stay there for an entire day!👍🏼
Mayesha Sahir Mim
An amazing place with so much to learn! Make sure to download their app and get in line for tram tours ahead of time.
Liz G
There's old school display equipment replicas used in Nasa from maybe the 80s. The exhibitions aren't very interactive or interesting. There's also a musky smell throughout the building. There's some neat gifts in the gift shop.
