Reviews of Tri-Cities Historical Museum
The Oetkers
Beautiful museum, wish we could’ve stayed longer. Also wished they were open on Monday. So we didn’t get to see everything. But hope to go there again In the future. Love that they have 1800s, it’s one my fav time periods.
Shelly O
We thought it was nice and it was clean and the bathroom too😊 plus a cute little gift shop area. I would go there again And probably bring some friends. And it was free which is a surprise, especially nowadays. And there is a little spot on the second floor that has a little room for your young children to draw some pictures with some chalk and a chalkboard and a few other small items to check out and some books as long as you don't leave them unattended. When I was there it was about 2:00 in the afternoon (cold, rainy and overcast) on a Friday, and it was not busy at all. Just how I like it😁

We move around a lot and always check out the local museum. This place was full of interesting Grand Haven area artifacts. In addition, the museum offers much information and insight into Michigan's beautiful west coast. It's free and accessible. Highly recommend. We will be back!
Inquisitor Federov
Interesting place. Tucked away amongst the small shops but has three separate floors with displays to browse through. Artwork, sculptures, historical text and info on the logging industry that helped jumpstart civilization in the northern states. Some exhibits are setup to show how life was back during that time. There is also a beautiful hall upstairs that would be ideal for receptions banquets, etc. Information on the US Coast guard can also be found here.
Renee Richmond
We stumbled across this place on accident and loved it!
Suzann Bacon
Ist time, it was wonderful, loved the rustic displays and the information given for them. Recommend for all, citizens and visitors, very proud staff as well they should be!
Stacy Delong
Nice little museum. They are redoing some of the exhibits so we did not get to go through all of it. Will gave to make a trip back when it is done.
Suzann Bacon
excelent displays with information and facts about that time in history, will definetly go back. remained for special meeting , and "Life time historian award" given to Dr Wallace Ewing, historian, author and contributor to the areas history. ver special guy!
Fitz Fitzgerald
Visited 2 years ago, great displays, and an offsite location to store their materials that are not on current display.
Laura Casaletto
Really, better than most small town museums. And the exhibits tell stories, and are accompanied by art. And it's free! April 2019 featured rocks, olde timey tools, a shipwreck drama, a massive log jam, Victorian interiors, paintings, and Native American life.
Curtis Bolt
A cool local museum that you can view the local area history. They also have an upstairs room area that you can rent for events.
Erika Bennett
This place was adorable and free. It had a nice progression of history about the development of the Grand Haven area. We would definitely visit again.
Thomas Guillot
This place was excellent. The current fasion display on the second floor was quaint and it was very facinatiing to look thorugh the history of clothing over the last century. The art display ustairs is equally facinating to see someone who has art travled from all over the world.
May Smith
I'm not a history buff but I still like looking around at interesting things 😂 There's some cool rooms to check out, I'd say. …
Debbie Mattan

DeAnna Clark
Very nice display of local history.
Ann Braun
Amazing how much they have on display and the quality of the displays. We really enjoyed our visit. Young children were touring while we were there. Such a good idea to teach kids about the past. Staff was great, little museum store had some nice things too.
Sarah Rustenholtz
A wonderful gem in downtown Grand Haven. Highly recommend!
Captain Rob
Fun little museum, right in the middle of one of the greatest down towns in Michigan. Doesn't cost anything to go in (donations are asked for) and the upstairs switches showings often.
Tristian Sanderson
A great museum with very awesome artifacts and tidbits of information. It's free and quick to visit, so it's no loss if you don't like it. I do, though.
Tatiana Zenk
Cool exposition of Michigan minerals. I loved it.
Allen Sironen

Karen Green
Its cute the way its its setup inside. Just wish there was more to see.
Tim
They have multiple exhibits and consistent rotations of featured exhibits this week for the Coast guard festival they had a coast guard exhibit and a WWI Exhibit very entertaining and detailed for a small place. It's free too, spent roughly 1-2 hrs in here, but you could spend longer if you wanted.
David Beck
Very nice historical museum to learn about the history of this area. Really well done with neat and interesting exhibits. Free admission but I highly recommend donating a few dollars to support this great resource.
Mark Hartman
Authentic and genuine representations of early life in Grand Haven and the Tri-Cities area. Informative and well organized displays. Worth checking out whether you are a local/regional resident or a visitor from afar.
Deanna McIntyre
Friendly staff and neat displays. It's small but you can spend as much or little time exploring as you'd like. There are rotating displays upstairs so there's always something fresh and new!

Liesa Swejkoski
Get out of the humidity. Cool inside. New exhibits every year as well as the old favorites. I learn a lot every time I go, which is usually twice a year.
Anna Luthringer
Such a nice museum, quite spacious and plenty of exhibits. We were walking around Grand Haven looking for something to do and stumbled upon this place. We were pleasantly surprised. Especially loved that it was free!
Judy Bloom
Quite an interesting museum with a reproduction of an Indian structure used as home in the area. There was a reproduction of a fur trader building, early log cabin, and a home at end of 19 Century early 20 the Century. Definitely a home of the upper class. There was a section that had logs that they found while working on rerouting a road. Roads were just dirt but they would take logs tied together making roads so one could travel over the muddy areas. The second floor had art work
The third floor had a wedding going on so I didn't look around to much
They have an elevator and a small gift shop. The museum is free but there is a donation box near entrance.
David Rudd
This Museum was a great place to step out of the norm and see a bit of the history of the area. The staff working at the museum were very friendly and it's a great place to stop by whenever you're in Grand Haven.
marilisa sachteleben
Free to the public, this one of the most comprehensive well curated local public museums in Michigan and for the price... did I mention it was free? Check out the local Grand Haven history, Michigan history, log cabin (circa settler era) and the Voyager Trading Post
Ken Kyle
A great way to learn Grand Haven's history. Every single person on the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Free to the public, worth spending a little time there!
Dan Holmes
Did you know a woman played a large role in the founding of Grand Haven? Did you know the history of the pier and the lighthouse is quite shaky (literally)? Do you know how people lived in this region 150 years ago?
If you answer no to any of those, get down to the Tri-Cities Historical Museum to learn about this community. The cost is zip, nada, bupkus. You can't beat that.
Special note: they host events upstairs in a very nice space. You might see a concert or a movie or be able to listen to a special speaker. It's one of the best kept secrets in Grand Haven. But I let the secret out, oops.
Mike Mouzourakis
A very cute museum right downtown. There is no fee so it's definitely worth stopping by. We were in and out in less than an hour and our 6 year old son loved it.
Cheryl Gibson
They have done a wonderful job with the exhibits at the museum. So much to see, very interesting.
Stacey
This is a fun little museum to walk thru every once in a while. Free. New exhibits from time to time. Really enjoyed the Highland Park Exhibit.
duane leet
A Great community asset that can be engaged in by locals, and tourists alike. Dynamic, changing exhibits and
regional artist's shows complement the permanent displays giving the visitor much to absorb and enjoy.
Marcus Aurelius
Fascinating. We came across this jewel quite unexpectedly as we were walking through town. Spent a couple hours there. Great little museum.
Candice Fleszar-Smith
Free museum inside the renovated Akeley Building in Grand Haven's historic downtown. Exhibits include an authentic Native American Wicciup; the 1920s Ekkens Store; a recreated Bastian and Blessing soda fountain and displays relating to local and state geology, fur trading, lumber, pioneers, farming, industry, banking, business, building and general living. I'm proud to say own ancestors are part of the museum's exhibits. If you love history, check out #DiscoveryMichigan tours and experiences! #ToursAroundMichigan
