This Museum is so vital for all generations to experience! The artifacts catapult you to a time in history where you experience the racist actions, thoughts and ideas of an entire society . Truly remarkable and life changing. It is a must see for families! The conversation starts with you! You can't change what you refuse to confront!

Very important museum. So many different things to read and look at. This museum gives a really good insight as to what the past used to be like. Really makes you think. Parking wasn't the best, but it is on Ferris's campus

This place hits your soul. Definitely recommend it, there is sooooo much they don't teach you in school. Definitely not for the sensitive but a great place to learn about the dark history of this nations past. So glad we have moved past that evil.

It's a shame this is kinda hidden in a basement of an unmarked building with no discernable parking strategy. But a totally worthwhile trek over while on vacation in the Ludington area.

Sometimes people are so evil and cruel it’s so sad and disappointing, I love history I learn about it but this,is next level it hurts my heart of how a human person would do that to another human person it’s so disrespectful and just no I hate it,makes me so sad and cry in my heart it broke so much people should have more respect some people don’t deserve to live it hurts 💔

Great little museum with lots of interesting and thought provoking memorabilia. Definitely a worthwhile hidden gem. It was a little hard to find as it’s not marked on the outside of the building that I saw but definitely worth the search once found. There is not admission charged, only a donation box located near the end.

When I was a student at Ferris we were required to visit the museum for a class and write a paper on it. I was highly surprised at how important this place is to go see! I went into it treating it like an assignment and came out actually interested and wanting to learn more. I recommend it to anyone who is on or near campus to go see it. With the society how it has been in the last few years it will really show the similarities to that era.

I have visited twice this year, once with a group from church and once with my co-workers. This is a place that opens your eyes and confronts you with how racism is wound through the very fabric of America. Visiting challenges you but you leave better for having had the experience. I highly recommend visiting and speaking with the people who work there. People from the dominant culture will leave there with new perspectives if they open their minds. Note: a visit here may be emotionally difficult for those who have experienced racism directly.

Amazing museum, and well worth a visit if you're ever within an hour or three of Big Rapids. Some of the items might be frightening for little ones, but exposing them to this kind of history is more valuable.

If you visit this musuem I strong recommend seeing the video before looking at the exhibits so you'll understand why the objects within are important teaching tools to understanding how they play into the Jim Crow era and racism. Some objects are shocking, some you might remember from seeing them in your childhood, like I did, but all will make you think. Black or white, everyone should visit this Museum if you're in the area.

Well curated collection of historical items centered on race and racism with a focus the on Jim Crow era. Internationally known and acclaimed right here at Ferris State. Free admission and guided tours are available with advance notice. Also spaces available for pre and/or post discussion, something you will likely need after visiting. Well worth the visit.

Great and eye opening. Looking forward to their planned expansion to widen the scope of how Jim Crow has impacted societal attitudes without us (general Amer. population) realizing we are nowhere near post-racial. Visit, and donate, it's well worth it.

Very interesting place. I was so moved and what African Americans have had to tolerate in this country. Some of the display was hard to see and stomach. It is so emotionally disturbing to see what was considered acceptable in our country not so long ago.

Makes you confront your own prejudices, and you will learn to redefine your views of...... everybody. It is not for kids younger than 12. It is not fun. It is painful and it is supposed to be so you can reevaluate what you think you understand about our history. Don't take my word for it go see it and form your own opinions.
