Reviews of Lone Star Flight Museum
Nate Church
Lovely place to visit. Really cool too see all the models, pictures, planes, and history. I had no idea Texas had such an impact through aviation during the world wars. It was cool to see where training took place and what they went through.
Staff was friendly, layout was nice, Museum was clean and organized. If flight and aviation is your thing you will love this museum!
Tom Shott
This is a great museum about aviation today and yesterday. Kids will love all the great airplanes and activities. Adults will love all the history and exciting displays of vintage aircraft. Add this to your bucket list. I been here several times and have been impressed every time!
Lorantz Rogers
Some really cool old planes in here with a lot of history behind them ranging from WWI to the present. Stop and check it out. They even have a Predator drone. They also have some flight simulators open to the public that are pretty cool. I was impressed with the NASA Space Exploration Vehicle on display.

This museum is so cool! Aviation geeks will especially love it but it's still a lot of fun for everyone else. They have two hangars with different planes in each. They also have a simulator that everyone can use as well as more advanced ones you can rent. The volunteers and staff are so friendly and full of stories and history. I especially loved the education room with the different explanations on how airplanes fly. The price is okay but you can usually find deals on Groupon. There's plenty of parking as well.

I came to this venue for the candlelit event. It was a beautiful performance! I took my husband on this little date and they performed several anime songs. After we were done, we went to the museum side and enjoyed looking at all the planes and reading about them. Great place and plenty of parking for sure.

This was a fantastic experience and great for visitors of all ages - they have a lot of great material to get kids inspired in STEM and so much history to learn. The volunteers are also extremely knowledgeable in the science and engineering. Going on a Thursday morning was a great idea - we got a nice surprise of discounted tickets ($5 Thursdays) and the museum was not very busy except for a couple of school field trips - it was almost like we had the place to ourselves and the volunteers were very kind to walk through and talk with us.

I have been to a lot of aircraft museums around the world. I would not call this ‘world class’ simply because the collection is quite small and not particularly unique (think DC-3, Corsair, B25, etc).
However, it is clear that they have made a real effort to make the facility clean and family friendly. There are lots of things for kids to touch and experience, the cafe is very good, solid gift shop. When we were there they were flying small planes inside - which my toddler absolutely loved. There is also quite a sophisticated simulator room; certainly not appropriate for toddlers, but I think older kids would really like it.
I will definitely come back here… Maybe by myself next time so I can focus on the more adult sections.

The Lone Star Flight Museum is a family favorite for us. Our kids are all flight obsessed. This is such a fascinating museum. I learned so many interesting things about all the planes. I really never knew there was so much to learn! If you are a fan of classic airplanes, war airplanes, and the overall journey from the first flight to current — you need to visit this museum! Entry is affordable and this place will entertain even the littlest of kiddos for hours.

There aren't words enough to describe the staff and my experience here. I waited 46 years for a ride in a WWII Era plane. Emily helped make it happen, the ground crew took care of the old warbird and Phillip the pilot showed me one of the greatest times of my life.
Thank you everyone! You made my year!
The museum and static displays are just as amazing. And there isn't to many places you can sit down and down with a 97 year old B-24 veteran. Bob was so enjoyable to speak with.
Dulce Dogan
Beautiful planes and the history of each one of them is displayed. The stories of what was going on at that time is amazing. We did the flight simulator and our son who's 13 enjoyed every minute of it. They also have summer camps for kids of all ages. Definitely something to see and everyone to enjoy!
James Cantrell (FoxSasha)
Fantastic experience. Managed to catch a special for admission cost but normal price would be worth it. Most Aircraft are functional and actually fly out time to time so next time you go, different aircraft might be there. Rare to find rotation of displays, even rarer to see them actually offer flights in them!
Y SW
Great collection of planes near the Houston space centre making it a good stop over for a full day of aerospace and science.
Informative and lots of details about the history of aerospace and aviation in Houston. Rotating "visiting" planes on display adds to the uniqueness of the visit. Flight simulators are good fun for both adults and kids alike.
Place also offer flying experience but I did not opt for it.
Noah Rodriguez
Amazing experience.
Not only do you get to see many airplanes from 1940-2000’s
You can also do hands on experiences
They also have a airplane simulator experience to help pilots
You are allowed to go into airplane cockpits
On certain days you get to see 80 year old planes take off
Nice staff
10/10

We went for a candlelight concert after hours. It was lovely. I'm sure there's things we didn't get to see since the purpose was to see a concert but they had 2 large rooms full of planes to walk around & look at before & after the concert. So it felt like 2 for 1. Would love to come back.
Johnny Wong
It's a very nice and clean place. Many volunteers are helping in the weekend. The simulating rooms are very nice. Many planes are in this museum. Some of them are still flying. Very wide and deep information for different age. Me, my 3 kids(6, 9, 11) and my in-law were having a great time. I'm definitely recommend others to visit. you need at least 3 hours to enjoy all the detail of this museum. I will bring my kids again.
Christan Brooks
Just got back from a trip to Houston with my daughter. I purchased a children's museum ticket pack and the flight museum was a part of that package. We went on a Friday. The museum was very quiet. Hardly anyone was there. While there were some cool planes to see, you'd have to be super into flight to enjoy this museum. There were aspects that I enjoyed and loved teaching her about, like the Tuskeegee airmen, but overall it wasn't really our thing. Personally I don't feel it should've been a part of the children's museum package because there wasn't really anything that appealed specifically to children. The flight simulator, which seems like it would've been enjoyable, was shut down during our visit too, so that was a bummer.
Kristy P
A wonderful museum, my 2 year old son loved it. The signage is amazing (I'm a museum nerd when I'm not herding my toddler about) and the hangars were laid out in an engaging fashion. Also they have a phenomenal gift shop. I hope to visit again on our next trip to Texas!
Gary Talor
Such a fun place to view old aircrafts. A must visit if you love aviation. They also have a small hallway of beautiful artwork! Should take up at least 2 hours if you stop at everything offered here.
Dave
HUGE some GREAT photo ops for your social media page and super interactive! Love the history and the gift shop is awesome but lots of stores/events inside close too early (3pm) which sort of takes away from the fun. Other than that it's awesome.
Jonathan Greenstein
An absolutely amazing experience. Featuring modern and vintage aircraft of all types as well as STEM driven hands on learning spaces the Lone Star Flight Museum will surely please the flight enthusiast, the kids, the history buff and anyone else interested in the history and science behind flight.
The aircraft on display are in absolutely beautiful condition and feature examples from pre WW 1 to the modern age. Each one has an informative description and history plaque.
In addition to the aircraft on display they have other historical items related to flying and past wars- all tastefully done and shown in context. Nothing sensitive or anything close.
They feature several flight simulators that can be used by adults and kids for no additional cost. In the main simulator room there are 10 hyper realistic simulators that can be used to learn basic flight mechanics and is open from 11-3. Kids under 8 must be with an adult co-pilot. Staff is on hand to help explain and use the simulators.
Also there is a beautiful art display with a focus on aviation and history that must be seen.
Staff is absolutely wonderful and informative.
Handicap accessible parking and building. Elevators are available. Changing tables in men’s and women’s restrooms.
Overall an excellent experience. Consider becoming a member if you intend to return as it offers discounts and special perks and access opportunities.

Aircraft displays were amazing, and the coffee at the café was just as good. Gift shop is astounding. I suggest looking at the F4U if you want to be in awe about the size of aircraft.
Sharon G
Wonderful collection of planes and memorabilia. Interactive exhibits worked well. Staff is great. You can also get a flight in an old warbird. Definitely a hidden gem.
Brian Speck
We started off our visit with lunch at the Minuti Coffee. The staff were most friendly and engaging.
Our tour started off with the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame. A lot of interesting placards to read and they were most informative.
We next headed into the plane gallery with the modified Lockheed Lodestar tricycle landing gear. This gallery included quite few interesting aircraft, F-4 Corsair, Skyraider, Dauntless, DC-3, Shooting Star. Plus a lot more civilian aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. There was even the flight deck simulator for the Space Shuttle.
The next gallery of aircraft had a B-25, Texan and a good array of trainers & observation aircraft. The USS-Hornet diorama of the Doolittle raid was very well done. There was even a decommissioned Predator UAV suspended from the ceiling. There were quite a number of large placards of information.
Then it was off to the gift shop from some souvenir purchases. 😎
Rene Marin
Fantastic place. Great family event.
The interactive area was a hit I almost had to drag my boys out of there. Those expecting a dirty hanger will be very disappointed. As this facility is as clean as a hospital.
The actual war birds are in fantastic shape and do not appear to be museum like. The vast majority I believe are still flying..

The Lone Star Flight Museum is an aviation museum located in Houston, Texas that offers a great experience for visitors of all ages. The museum boasts an impressive collection of vintage aircraft, including military planes, helicopters. One of the most interesting exhibitions is the "Visiting Plane of the Month" program, which showcases a different aircraft each month, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to learn about the featured aircraft.
The museum also offers a learning center, which provides an interactive experience for visitors. There are various exhibits that cover topics ranging from the physics of flight to the history of aviation. Visitors can also take advantage of the flight simulators, which provide a hands-on experience of flying.
Overall, the Lone Star Flight Museum is a great destination for aviation enthusiasts and anyone interested in the history of flight. With its impressive collection of aircraft, educational exhibits, and interactive experiences, it's definitely worth a visit.
Kenneth Corley
It's strange to see these creatures of the air trapped in an enclosed space. Strange, but thrilling. Being able to peer into the cockpit, or look in to the rear gunner's claustrophobic position is worth the price of admission.
Matthew Pena
It's a wonderful collection of planes (permanent and some visiting like the F-16 in these photos) with interactive stations to teach you about aerodynamics and the anatomy of planes and engines. They even have a simulator for kids and adults alike to try their hand at landing a plane. Easily enough stuff to keep you preoccupied for 1-3 hrs.
André N.
LSFM has an incredible collection of aircrafts that look brand new. I was told that some are flight worthy. The staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. If you’re planning a visit here, you won’t regret it. LSFM is a gem!
Joejoe Abi
Went here as part of Candlelight series concert series with Listezo String Quartet playing Bach to Beatles music. Very interesting displays with good info that we enjoyed learning about such as the DC3 that revolutionized commercial aviation. Very well organized and lots of space for exhibits.
Collins Farms
My children loved the hands on activities and were in aww of all of the planes. All of the planes have been beautifly restored and kept. A must see!
Laura Clingman
What a wonderful museum for all aircraft enthusiasts! So much to see! Give yourself at least a couple of hours, there's a whole lot more here than one might think! And check Groupon.
Yuri Silva
Great place to visit, and bring kids to see the planes and learn about history.
This is really place that deserves to be visited.
Congratulations to all who male this a great museum

Didn't go through it this time. On Saturday's they take paying customers up for rides in plane of customers choice. So we go and watch.these were taken this past Saturday, 9/18/21. My sister did take us through the museum last Oct for moms b-day. It was amazing. Well worth it.
Jennifer Maghett
I had an wonderful experience there at the museum, it was quiet empty the day I went, so I took my time to walk around learning about those amazing planes with their glory history. I would love to go back there again, and I had recommended it to all my friends n fam in H town ~
Justin Crapps
Great experience at this museum. Our Cub Scout pack did an overnight campout. Scheduling was easy and the museum was prompt and professional with communications. The evening program included: pizza for dinner and a video explaining the physics of flight; time in both hangars to view the planes; a discussion of different parts of a plane with an indoor model that the kids were able to climb into; time in the flight simulators; and a scavenger hunt. We slept in the hangars under the airplanes and left the following morning after breakfast. It was an experience our scouts won’t forget.

If you are into aircraft, this museum is a must stop, can view the planes as well as read the history. Highly recommend it.
Daniel Harr
Very good if you're into WW2 planes. Some info on modern flyers although no exhibits for them.
Amy Goldenburg
Spectacular! It reminded me of the wonderful visits to nasa when I was a kid (before they blinged it out like a amusement park.
The interactive educational displays were exceptionally informative. Loved seeing some planes take off and land.
Of course the number and conditions of planes and helpfulness of staff were amazing! I whole heartedly recommend. I’m not even the plane enthusiast is my family, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
drakkarama
One of the nicest places that recommend to see when visiting Houston TX where you can find amazing collection of aircraft and good learning center for students and kids.
Huge parking lot clean and well maintained floors
Jon Bygrave
What a wonderful experience!! This is a relatively small museum, but it is so well organized, clean, and full of information that you and your kids will want to spend hours there.
The organizers and volunteers do a fantastic job keeping all the aircraft and the facility spotless. The aircraft are laid out in two halls with detailed explanations of the company that built them and their individual history. There are also exhibits of different historical engines, weapons that were used, and some military vehicles. My wife enjoyed reading about the important roles that women played in manufacturing and transporting aircraft during WWII.
In addition to the display halls, there is a lovely interactive area that teaches the history and science of flight in a way that both children and adults can enjoy.
There is also a multi-unit simulator room where you can practice flying a small aircraft, including trying to land it in 20-minute sessions.
Finally, there is an interesting and extensive mural and poster maze-like display where many historical events are covered.
A wonderful, day out!!
PS: the coffee shop has GREAT coffee!
Candice Floyd
Went with my son and really enjoyed all of the planes in the hangars and the Texas history. Definitely a nice way to spend the day! Worth a visit
Casey Davis
We opted for the guided tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and also a veteran pilot in the military. Lots of great airplanes and a constantly revolving assortment of classic airplanes. Our tour guide was absolutely outstanding. He was able to hold the attention of all of the kids and adults. 10/10. Will definitely be returning!!
Catherine Eby
I've lived in Houston for 30 years and this was my first visit. I was not disappointed! The planes are all flight ready, the exhibits are incredible, and the museum is a wonderful attraction. Definitely going back for the flight shows.
Rajan Sharma
Went for the candlelight music series. Very intimate and nice. We'll decorated and was able to see the museum before and/or after the event. Drinks for purchase but would have been nice to have Appetizers being passed around while we waited for the show to start, would have added to the overall experience. But overall, it was a great evening.
travis s
this is a fantastic place to take your family! all ages will enjoy it and they even had flight simulators that were free on memorial day. Really awesome airplanes on display and gets the kids a serious idea about the love of aviation and history, especially about Texas history aviation.
Jenn Francis
Awesome museum! Love that the planes fly regularly and their crews are around supporting them. Great learning opportunities for kids and beautiful exhibit halls and hangars! Helpful staff.

This Museum is just downright amazing!
It’s big and spacious with amazing informative staff and quite a good bit of details on what is on display and why it mattered, it’s probably the best museum I’ve been to.
As for their claim to having good educational programs and displays here, well again. It’s absolutely no joke! They really do have some great informative displays of things such as drag and thrust and the general aerodynamics of planes! Along with that their section about aviation mapping and weather effects on planes was really good. Their features on how planes engines work was again, really good! I found really nothing to complain about, it’s just a amazing museum doing a great job of contextualization and presentation. The tickets aren’t too expensive either, they’re rather reasonably priced!
Michael Jackson
Awesome experience. I was surprised that tickets were only 5 bucks a piece on Thursdays. I will be going back soon. Not only were the tickets cheap, we also got to see a Predator Drone being brought in and suspended.
Michelle Channon
The museum is a jewel! My WORD!
So amazing with so much to see and do! We 'saw' only about 3/4's of it but were only able to read and really absorb about 1/4 of it all.
Definitely on our must redo list and next time we plan to have more time to take it all in.
Everything was simply amazing. Every detail is so we'll plan Ed and executed. Even the restrooms were lovely, the entire property inside and out was immaculate, and everyone working there whether voluntary or paid was so kind.
Someone(s) doing an amazing job managing all it's affairs!
Loved it so much, I'll be asking to take our Beta Academy middle school scholars here for a field trip!
LOVED IT!
Seth Parsons
Great little museum with flyable aircraft... So, I guess it's more like a bird cage, which is kinda sad. But the airplanes are immaculate! And the facilities are just gorgeous.
Highlight for me were the hands on activities for the kids that taught aerodynamic principles clearly and logically.
My son particularly enjoyed the make your own paper airplane section. These can be horrible and messy... Not the case here. The paper was arranged nicely and the airplane building instructions were clear and easy to follow.
If you're with an airplane nerd... Or are an airplane nerd, this is a great stop!!
Fernando Covas
We're lucky to have a place like this in Houston. It's a beautiful museum, has an astounding number of historic aircraft, and it has a lot of hands on activities for all ages, even outside where they have a vegetable garden. The day we went, they had a few aviators from WW2 by the planes they flew, which was a really special opportunity. They also had an African Americans in Aviation traveling exhibit, which was a great way of highlighting an otherwise little known part of aviation history. Also, be on the lookout for a Russian MiG and a German WW2 bomber. Very unique experience!
Elvis Gaitan
Wonderful place to take your kids to spark their interest in something that would be beneficial to them. We all loved the beautiful antique planes on display, and the best part was that it had my kids asking questions and doing research on the history of the planes they liked. It's definitely worth every penny of the admission fee.
Tony K2
A lot to see and many aircraft of various types. If you like planes from biplanes to jets, they are all here. Everything is inside too. Simulators and activities for kids are abundant. Plan on a minimum of 2.5 hours to 5 hours.
Julia Strait
We’ve been here twice in a few months now. Kids love it. Lots of interactive stuff to do.
Misty Goodpuppy
My beautiful daughter treated me to a Candle Light Concert at the Line Star Flight Museum, a lovely, intimate setting with a string quartet. As a retired Member of the Air Force, I appreciated the static displays of air craft and hardware!!
Jessica Rosalez
We loved it. Very impressive. The kids loved the Aviation Academy, lots of hands on activities. Took us about 2 hours to see all the planes. It didn't seem we were there that long.
KC Sealock
Excellent static displays, helpful and friendly staff, great events
Gigi Banks
Great place to visit! My hubby and I went last Sunday and viewed the planes... did the simulator...and shopped at the gift shop🤗 The employees were so kind. I found out if you book it you can actually go up in the air with a pilot for $250.00! Well worth it for a once in a lifetime experience! Take your family and friends! It’s a wonderful place! We are going back to take our US Navy Airman in December when she comes home on leave!!!!
Pablo Lopez
Awesome museum with a variety of spots where you get to learn a whole lot about multiple planes and era's in aviation history.
I really enjoyed my visit and this new facility is state of the art. Wish one of the space shuttles would have found its home here. But definitely would come again.
Anjelica Vest
We had my son’s 8th birthday here. He loves planes, pilots, and top gun. The big birthday package is so worth it. All the kids had a wonderful time thanks our party coordinator Elissa! 10/10 would recommend.
John Gorman
Can't believe it took 2 years before we visited. Way better than I ever expected. Two hangers full of vintage airplanes and a lot of interactive displays for the kids. Older kids and adults can spend time on the flight simulators. Saturday and Sunday are great times to go for maximizing your time on the simulators. Be prepared to make and fly paper airplanes with your kids(highlight for our youngest). We bought an inexpensive membership that allows us unlimited visits and invitations to special events.
PilotPerry
My son loves this place. He is a history buff and loves to see all the history in aviation just in texas alone. We go here about once a month. The staff is always friendly and always helpful. I do highly recommend this place.
Sharon Stokes
Mom and I love to come by just to see what might be out. Saturday and Sundays are usually the only times we see the old planes. But we have been very lucky to sometimes see other jets and planes out on the tarmac, of Ellington.
June Lee
There’s a lot of information about the history of flight and planes. Spent a good 4-5 hours here reading through information about the history of planes, how aerodynamics worked, etc. Highly recommend this museum to anybody.
Gary Dowling
I took my grandson to the museum. We had a great time. He particularly enjoyed the training and practice on the drones. He also liked the demonstration experiments that explained fluid flow and arrow dynamics.
Corey Stubbs
Extremely interesting.
I’ve had the pleasure of both being a part of an aerial career day as a recruiter and later attended as a customer. Both times I was very impressed with what the Lone Star Flight Museum has to offer in their exhibits, educational services, and overall community involvement.
If you are a an aerial nut or just someone with a slight curiosity in what this place houses, I highly recommend visiting this as it has fun for all.
If this was helpful, hit the like button!

My wife and I visited on a rainy Wednesday afternoon after getting tickets on Groupon at a discount.
The new museum looks gorgeous from the outside. The staff at the ticket counter was extremely friendly. There is a small intro movie and then you begin your self guided tour of the museum.
There are numerous exhibits and interactive displays. There is a lot of reading so maybe not great for younger kids.
There are also two large hangars housing several planes. It was great fun on a Wednesday afternoon. I’m fairly certain we were the only guests there this afternoon. I hope that the museum can increase traffic there. I highly recommend it.
Isalena Moseley
I always love coming here! They have so much to interact with and everyone is very knowledgeable about the plans and history. For sure a place to visit when in the area!
Mrs. T Stan
Great, educational experience for kids of ALL ages!
GPAT SUMRALL
Excellent air craft, super good deal on tickets, hands on for the youngsters to learn from. Just happy to see every thing on display.Learned things I never was clear about. Thanks and I will return- at full price if need be! Go out and spend a couple hours and take it all in!
Sharon Stokes
Mom and I like to come to Ellington to see the different planes. We're both unable to stand or walk very long so we just ride through. Love it when the Museum has it's old planes out. Today we got to see the yellow Navy byplane take off.
Update:
Today 10/09/20 is my mom's 84th birthday. My sister and nephew always do big things for us. When asked this year what she wanted to she said see the flight museum. We are both handicapped, so unable to walk around. But we found that they offer wheelchairs for use. So my sister and nephew, came yesterday and brought us her to see the planes we love up close. The Museum is so nice, It was soooo much fun. My sister use to do the Ellington air show years ago. So she new what all the planes were so was moms tour guide, and my nephew learned it all from her so he was my guide. It made it even more special to hear about everything. My sister actually meet owner of "The Ace in the hole" plane at those shows and got to fly in it, plus many others.
Thomas Linville
Excellent museum of old planes from the First and Second World War. I went because I heard they had a B-25 bomber. I was fun to see and learn about these amazing old planes. There are also activities for kids (and adults) to learn about flight and aerodynamics. They also have simulators and activities for schools. This flight museum is definitely worth the trip my only disappointment was the lack of quality plane models in the gift shop.
T. Tucker
I wasn't sure what to expect coming here but WOW! I came here with my kids (5 and 2 years old) I just came on a whim. Heard about this museum and decided to come today and so glad we did! SO COOL! I could've stayed longer (my 2 year old was throwing a tantrum) however this place is great for kids AND adults. The aircrafts, the history, learning how planes work and how they have evolved over time was interesting. THANK YOU TO DUNCAN!! Not sure if he was a volunteer or he worked there but he was great with my son (he has autism) helping him learn about planes and navigate the different exhibits. I highly recommend coming to visit this museum. Be warned it's not easy to find I had to use my Google Maps to find the place and it was a 40-45 minute drive but totally worth it! I am going to come again in a few years when my kids are older.
Lauren
This museum is wonderful! We went on a tour recently, and it was incredible to hear the history of aircraft, and get to see the aircraft in person. The museum is huge, so put your walking shoes on! The tour guides (both that we had were veterans) are extremely knowledgable, and can answer any questions you or your family members come up with. We were greeted immediately, and the staff is extremely friendly. I will say that taking a child under the age of 4 is probably not a good idea if you are doing the tour, unless you go sans tour guide, and see only the interactive parts as it can get overwhelmingly long for them. I had my 2 year old with me, and he was overjoyed to see the large planes, and get to play with the interactive museum pieces; however, he was quite restless on the longer more informational portions of the tour. They also have a gift shop that is filled with aircraft memorabilia, from baby pilot onesies to diecast replicas, they have something for every aged air plane lover to enjoy. This is a museum that is a must for anyone who is interested in planes.

Stopped here on the way back home from Galveston and so happy we did! The exhibits are excellent and we hope to visit again. Dont forget to go upstairs so you can look down on the exhibits to get a great view
Jennifer McNeill
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, facility is clean, and the museum layout has a great flow. Nearly all of the aircraft on display are flight worthy, and patrons of the museum can go for flights in many of the aircraft displayed.
My family and I went on a flight in the B-25 Mitchell. It was an incredible experience! I highly recommend it to anyone who is passionate about aviation. The pilots were friendly and professional. Absolutely fantastic experience.
E Ruiz Jr.
Wow, what a cool place for plane buffs! Impressive collection of aircraft all presented in immaculate form and setting as this museum is brand new! Awesome addition to the area with NASA just down the highway.
Dennie Heije
Highly recommended museum for all ages. Children can learn about the science behind flying in an interactive way (including flight simulators), they have a large collection of historical aircrafts, interesting exhibits about aircraft history in Texas - plus in the weekends they fly some of their historical aircrafts.
You can watch them taxi and take off, or you can buy a ticket for a unique opportunity to fly IN a historical aircraft. I flew in the B-25 bomber last weekend, an experience I'll never forget. The staff explains all there is to know and will make sure you get the most out of the flight.

I have dreamed about planning a Top Gun themed party for a long time and with Top Gun 2 Movie coming out this month I thought what better time!
Aimee Waltrip the event manager for Lone Star Flight Museum was AMAZING to work with on our Top Gun Themed Birthday Event. We were able to have all our guests dress up in Top Gun costumes, tour the vintage airplane museum and have dinner inside the Waltrip Hangar!
This was definitely one of the most memorable birthday celebrations ever and we really want to thank Aimee again for such an amazing night and help setting up this wonderful themed event.
I would highly recommend the Lone Star Flight Museum for any events, birthdays, weddings, family/friends outings and school field trips!
Thanks again Aimee & Lone Star Flight Museum.
Paul Ford
Very cool museum, glad we went. The B-52 walk-through is a lot of fun. You get to see what it was really like for the flight crew.
Linda Hutfless
Very interesting, lots of planes to look at. Interactive room for hands on for all ages to participate. We have lived in the area for over 30 years and found the history of Ellington very interesting to read about. I would recommend this museum. Scavenger hunt for kids made it a fun time for my grandson.
Brian Lyster
The flight museum has a lot of planes and educational material. The staff is very knowledgeable about the planes and WWII memorabilia at the museum. Go and learn about the aircraft from WWI, WWII, and general aviation.
jim budde
Not a huge place but boy do they fit a lot in. The two main hangers have a excellent range of warbirds and a few civilian planes as well. A surprising number are apparently airworthy. Including a civilian owned AH1 cobra helicopter. Lots of interactive displays and a nice gift shop. A bunch of historical photo displays in several galleries as well that for a small area are incredibly comprehensive. If you're a warbirds nerd you should go. They also have about 4 different planes you can actually fly in for a fee including a steer man.
Ryan Schniederjan
What a cool place! Great planes and history. The staff was great. We t took my father in law who is a pilot and had two older guys on staff come up and we started about the planes, restoring them, and other history. It was a great experience. I learned that every single plane they have still flys at least once a year. I gotta see that.
Manan Khandelwal
THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING!!! The planes kept in the hangars were fascinating, and the information was simply put in words and very well demonstrated by live practical experiments. I'd love to go again any time.
Vin
Well, I am in Civil Air Patrol. The flight museum itself is right next to Ellington field, which is where our squadron is posted. We did a small tour if the lab and learning center, worth around 1.2 million dollars. Great tour guide, amazing information and very descriptive. Plan to update after full visit.
Aidan Jones
Selection is limited but some of the aircrafts in here are very legendary. Good museum nonetheless.

In case you were wondering, this is the same Lone Star Flight Museum that was previously in Galveston, TX. They moved out of the old facility due to size restrictions and concern over possible damage from hurricanes (they previously got hit pretty hard by Ike back in '08), and needless to say the new location payed off, as they avoided damage entirely when Harvey hit.
With that out of the way, on to the actual review.
The new $38M, 130,000-sqft facility located at Ellington Airport houses over 20 historical aircraft and dozens of aviation artifacts, and is leaps and bounds above the previous location. The staff is helpful and friendly, and they maintain the facility and the aircraft and exhibits excellently.
Admission is $14.95 for Adults, $12.95 for Seniors (65+) and Youth (12-17), and $9.95 for Children. Military discount of $11.95 is available for in person purchases (with valid ID) and is applicable for up to 4 tickets per visit. An AAA discount of $3 off is available as well. During the summer months, the museum offers $5 Museum Mondays. See website for special events and discounts.
Hours are Monday thru Friday 9a to 5p, and Sunday 12p to 5p. Holidays may affect these times, call ahead if you are unsure.
Upon entering the facility, you will find yourself in the central hall, consisting of admissions, a rotating gallery focusing on aviation heritage, the gift shop, and a flight simulation room (part of the museums aviation learning center), intended for STEM use, but open to public use Saturdays 11a to 3p, and Sundays 12p to 3p. At the end of the central hall, the museum splits into 2 wings, with the museums theater sitting at the end of the main hall.
Down the left wing you will find the Waltrip Hangar, containing a number of iconic aircraft, including a B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-25 Michell, a P-47 Thunderbolt, and a number of other aircraft ranging from civilian to military, as well as a number of aviation artifacts, including a series of early engines and propellers from the beginnings of powered flight. The left wing of the museum continues with a number of STEM-oriented classrooms that are used for fieldtrips and the likes, providing Houston-area children and schools a healthy and plentiful environment for learning about Aviation, Engineering, and how the two combine to affect our daily lives.
Down the right wing of the museum you will find the Heritage Hangar, housing the rest of the museums aircraft, of which include a 1940s era DC-3 Passenger Aircraft, an A-1 Sky Raider, a MiG-17 (on loan from another musuem; milaege may vary), a Vought F4U Corsair, an AH-1 Cobra, and a number of other aircraft, again, ranging from civilian to military, from all eras of flight.
At the end of the right wing, you will find the Galleries, consisting of the Texas Aviation Heritage gallery, the Flight Academy gallery, and the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame. Each of these galleries consist of a mix of in depth info boards, detailing a broad range of aviation subjects, and interactive stations, providing visual and hands on demonstrations of various flight mechanics and aviation topics, with each area specializing in a different set of fields. The Texas Aviation Heritage gallery, for instance, covers Texas' deep roots in aviation, while the Flight Academy covers all there is to know about the foundations of aviation and flight in general.
Tying in with the previous area, a number of info boards can be found within the 2 hangars, lining the walls and the hangar floor with plentiful information on the aircraft and aviation history.
Of special note before I conclude is that the LSFM's collection of aircraft has a very unique quality to it, in that the majority of the museums permanent aircraft are in flight ready condition, and that the museum regularly provides ride along flights, though prices and availability vary, please contact LSFM for further information.
All in all, the LSFM is a wonderful stop for anyone in the area, and will provide ample fun for all ages. Please check the museum out if you ever get the chance.
Christina Adebowale
This place is so cool! Took my engagement photos here. We were given a volunteer and he knew so much historical information about the planes it made the process even cooler . If your a history buff or just like photos this a great place to go!
asim ahmed
Pretty interesting museum for aviation enthusiasts. They also have some rotating planes in display from other museums.
Stephanie Jones
We attended a Candlelight Concert at the museum. It was an added bonus to be able to check out the exhibits and all the cool planes. Very good experience!
W Davis
For almost no money whatsoever, you can see a very diverse collection of aircraft and tons of cool STEM and history exhibits! Great for adults or children.
Joshua Herring
Lone Star has an awesome collection of vintage aircraft. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable about their collection. My only complaint is that you can’t get very close to the aircraft, I would love to look inside some of the cockpits!
Allison Orlina
We took family visiting over Christmas break. We had an absolutely wonderful time. As residents of the bay area we felt so privileged to have this top quality museum local to us. I'm sure as more Houstonians learn about this museum they'll drive well across town to come here.
I was so impressed wit the various presentations on flight and aircraft. There are the full originals in the hangars. We were fortunate to see one being backed out of the hanger and to realize the aircraft you see may be different sometimes.
The historical displays are gorgeously done with high quality, pristine visuals. A lot of art design and layout work went into the displays. We had 4 girls with us on this visit, and were so pleased to see women featured in every aspect of aviation history and the business of aviation.
You can tell education and retaining interest in students will be a big part of this museum's activities. From the short flight simulation we tried, I would be excited for my kids to get a field trip here. The education director was approachable and a great speaker. This is an amazing addition to the new generation of museum experience.
Jared Martignoni
Great time at this very fun and enjoyable museum! My 8 year old girl learned a lot from the volunteers about aircraft mechanics. All of the planes in the museum fly regularly. Can't wait to go back. Had a great time
David Avila
Fantastic museum that’s perfect for aviation fans and every member of the family. The Texas Aviation Hall of Fame, the state of the art Aviation Learning Center, and of course the flying collection are just a few of the highlights of this museum.
Justin Erickson
Nice little museum. Aircraft in great shape. Wish there was more though.
Doyle E Black Jr
Iconic flying aircraft museum that let's people get up close and personal. A real look back into aircraft history. Most of these aircraft are still flyable and do fly in the Wings Over Houston airshow in October.
Sheeyam Shellvacumar
Informative Museum. Great Attraction in Houston area for the plane lovers. Most the flights in the hangers can still fly. Staff is friendly and well maintained. Must visit in Houston.
Ali
Wonderfully delightful place that takes you through the history of the development of airplanes and their use in wars and transport etc.. great spot to go to with family and learn something new
Rebecca Dove
We went on a Sunday afternoon. It's easy to find and they have free parking. The building is new and very clean. We went on a fun knowledge hunt with the kids. There are two hangers with restored planes. They have many learning opportunities for the kids. All of the staff was pleasant. There us a gift shop with good stuff. We'll visit this place again!
Emily
We loved the Lone Star Flight Museum! The employees were all very friendly and helpful. There's a ton of things to look at including an interactive area - good for kids.
Mary Ellis
This is the third time taking my grandson to the Flight Museum, and it gets more meaningful each time. The volunteer we met was incredibly knowledgeable and it added to the learning experience. The Robonauts were giving demos and that was terrific too.
Eleanor
Me and my family had got tickets for today's air show. It was amazing day, got to see planes that were used in war world 2 and around 3:40 the tender birds put on a show for everyone.
Debbie Campbell
Great display of awesome planes. Very detailed descriptions of each with many interesting, historical stories and pics.
Great, enjoyable visit.
TexRec
Great day at the museum was finally able to see the Coursier and several other planes that I’ve missed had a great time
el remei
A must see if you love aircraft and what they represent!
Worth the visit, trust me!
Trina S
This is a super cool place. I went for a gala so I didn't have time to check out all the planes (I will have to go back). From the moment you walk in for an event it is an experience with "flight attendants" and "boarding passes". Two terrible things that knock off a star for each...the waitstaff brought food to half our table and kept bypassing us to take food to other tables. Our other half did not get their food for about 20 minutes after us, it was so awkward. Then I turned in my valet slip and my friends at literally the same time. She got her car in five minutes. I got mine in 45 and that was only after I went and saw my keys still sitting on the valet station and insisted that my car be next. By then I was soaking wet from standing in the rain for 45 min. Then when they brought my car around he put it I reverse instead of park and almost ran into the car behind him as we were all yelling at him to stop! It was miserable.
Arun Nair
An awesome fight museum south of Houston that is well worth the drive. Most of the planes here are actual working exhibits that are loaned or rotated out on a regular basis. So you are not looking at non-working aircrafts like some of the other museum around the country. They have drip pans under most aircrafts to catch oil! Come before 2pm if you want to experience any of the flight simulators.
Erin Lee
We went on a Tuesday and had a great time. It wasn't packed and we enjoyed walking around and looking at all they had. Our son enjoyed the hands on area and had fun making a paper airplane
G A (TheFamous)
Great air conditioning!!!
Pretty nice place got some awesome collection of planes from different years.
They also give some discounts for veterans and more.
Rob Sterner
This is a neat local museum with several cool planes. The planes seen here are some of the ones that take part in the Houston Air Show. There is one plane you can get up inside of and interact with more, which our kids really enjoyed. They also have a flight simulator you can try out, though it seemed hit or miss on how well it was working.
Gil Yoder
I had a great visit here With the Texas Gulf Coast Trikers. Thanks to Lyle Hinton for taking us around and telling us about the sites.
T P
Nice small museum with a good collection of older (WWII) and newer planes.
Lori
Was awesome! $5 Thursdays! So many amazing planes, war vehicles, flight simulator etc!
Vanessa Grable
We stayed in our RV (harvest host) great parking over night. My husband loved the Museum and good coffee at coffee shop👍

Francesca Hall
We are new members and went to a member appreciation evening where they showed Top Gun. Totally great.... wonderful evening
Dorothy Speers
It was a wonderful time with the family. We ranged from 23 to 85 years old and everyone loved it. The planes were stunning to see, there were very informative displays, and we met an incredibly knowledgeable guide. All staff were super friendly. The flight simulator was fun. It wasn't super challenging, so everyone enjoyed it.
Sarah Medearis
This facility is top-notch. New, beautiful, clean, and so informative! Great activities and education for all ages. Reserve at least two or three hours for everything
HEATHER BOSANQUET
I wish i could give it more stars! Fantastic place to see planes. Lots of really cool things to do. I had 2 teens go with me and they loved it! And meeting the mechanics was awesome!
Ruoyang Yan
A very nice museum. The ticket was only $5 on Thursday, saw many interesting planes. There were also simulators, kids will love it.
Miracle Clark
Definitely recommend! I took my Girl Scout troop and they had a scavenger hunt for them to do. There is also a hands on area where kids and adults too can learn more about the science behind flight! They also have a flight simulator. If you sign up for their newsletter they tell you all the different events they have monthly!! They have awesome old planes too!
Emrakul Aeons Torn
I was only here for a fellow Airman's promotion to Chief Master Sergeant, but I would certainly love to visit and experience this place as a whole.
Jeremy Gibbons
Excellent aviation museum, with a number of unique aircraft but also Space Shuttle program artifacts. Everything is clearly arranged and explained. A great way to spend an afternoon.
S S
Beautiful museum that provides a lot of history of the area. My wife and I wen there on a date night to enjoy live music. This was our first time there and let me tell you we both were impressed. I would recommend checking this place out on a date night or just going check it out yourself.
kristianpost1
Exciting with all those old marvels. On top of that it is quite educating both in aviation itself and aviation history.
J D Emmanuel
After visiting the old museum in Galveston for over 30 years, the new Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington Airport, Houston, Texas, totally exceeded my expectations! The new building is thoughtfully laid out with two hangars of vintage aircraft, an awesome Aviation Heritage Exhibit Gallery, an interesting Texas Aviation Hall of Fame, and a delightful, engaging Aviation Learning Center for kids. Highly recommended for family and anyone who enjoys aircraft museums. You won't be disappointed!
S. O'S
A marvelous professional museum full of beautiful thought-provoking displays. The staff are really nice! Worth a visit for sure!
Jennifer Long
Great place to spend a couple hours with the whole family. Restrooms are clean with changing tables and there's a snack room with tables and vending machines but I'd suggest packing some sandwiches and snacks from home for meals. The membership pays for itself if you go twice a year, and then you can get a discount at the gift shop as well. The planes, volunteers, and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Check out their event calendar for some fun, inexpensive family outings.
Sean Miller
We live across the street from LSFM and are supporters. This is a great place to visit and learn about air and space history. It's even better now that they've added Minuti Coffee as a tenant. Highly recommended.
N I E C O
Great collection of beautiful military planes, ground vehicles, and other exhibits. Simulators... great place for all ages.

Excellent flight museum. Great staff and wonderful attractions not found elsewhere! I mean, come on, how cool is flying in a B17! Yes please!
Robert Blakeney
Our first visit to the new facility. Very well done and supported by excellent volunteers. Cool displays with craft and machinery I've never seen in person. Fair prices. I wished they had a snack bar/grill.
Michael Fontana
Thanks for hosting a great event Lonestar Flight Museum from the Lonestar IV Medics of Texas!
Mark Ford
As always classiest place on the South Side to have an event.
Huge space filled with incredible planes you don’t even need to decorate!
Love this place.
Anna Rouse
A fantastic museum that really highlights the rich history Texas has with the Aerospace industry! Incredible experience- I loved it!
Hugh Clouse
museum was closed for a special event but they allowed us to boondock in their parking lot. Parking for 4 RV or trailer s to park .Will have to return again to tour the museum.

What a fantastic museum! Extremely educational and kid-friendly. Great gift shop as well!!
Benjamin Amos
Great and friendly staff, tons of stuff to do with the kids! Would love to come back after covid to see what's been added
Bob Lommel
The museum is a must stop for anyone with interest in aviation.. Many aircraft are on display with explanations of how they were used. There's a interactive area for kids. Fly a hanglighter. There was so much information presented I have to go back just to absorb it all.
Mel Conkling
We were there for a special event. We got to browse the museum until our event started. We will definitely be back to see the entire museum.
GRADD CO
A National Treasure! A must visit museum for everyone. To all educators in the Houston and surrounding areas: Bring your classroom for a variety of amazing STEM educational opportunities at the LSFM.
Ruwan Dombepola
This is a great place to see real aircraft and get an understanding of the history of aviation. Lots of things to learn. They have flight simulators too.

I was lucky enough to visit when the Mustang car show was going on. The old war planes were amazing an to see them flying over head was awesome. Large parking lot.
Angela Batts
Great place. We had a lot of fun. Plan on making a day of it. Lots to see and read about. Very informative. Staff was very helpful. Prices are quite reasonable.
Poo Poo
Loved the actuallybworking hands on interactive stations. Lots to see and get informed about aircraft and the history of such.
Andriy Bezpalko
If you’re into flying or planes in general this is a great place to go. Many different types of planes and helicopters, you can learn so much about the Houston aviation industry, and how it got to where it is today. All the planes are in great shape, and some are even flight worthy! They have a really interesting Soviet plane!
Jana Labean
We went on Labor Day, it is a fantastic place to visit. The staff is really so knowledgeable and excited to answer any questions
Darlene Escobar
We had our Christmas party here for Methodist Clear Lake! Great Service, friendly staff... Very clean environment.
Sally Floyd
Took my 8 year old grand daughter. We both loved it. There are 2 hangers with planes. A good amount of hands on things. We happened to be there when a team with robots were doing an exhibit. There was also an egg drop event we were able to participate in. If still available, do Groupon for tickets.
Piotr Fraczek (Piotr A Fraczek)
Absolutely cool place to see classic planes still taking off. I wish you could see more up close however even as is the place provides a very cool experience of history.

Kylee Pennington
Such a cool place with a lot of interactive activities! Friendly and informative staff! Love it.
Adrian Why?-Trowski
What a blast! (No pun intended) There is so much to learn, lots of cool technology to see, plus theres a tour inside the 747 boieng shuttle carrier, food and souvenirs are a bit pricey but the overall experience makes up for it!!!
Zack R.
One of the best aviations museums in the Southern U.S. I do hate they sold their B-17 that was a great highlight of the museum. Lots of smaller planes, few warbirds, civilian aircraft, a good mix. Admission is dirt cheap for what you get to see and experience.
Veronica Hickman
Went with my sons school for field trip. I told my son definitely going back. He loved it
Juan Manuel Rueda
Amazing museum for the people who are in love with aviation in general. Great staff and not too crowded in the weekends.
Tracy
I love that they had a section dedicated to the Tuskegee Airmen in their gift shop! I bought several hats and other items, I am extremely pleased. This flight museum is very clean and well ran, I loved everything about it.
Britomartis
Went there with my friends and took the tour. Lots of fun and the docents were very knowledgeable.

Thomas Perry
Very impressive and extremely well run. Great destination for your out of town guests, too. Good displays and historical data. Great teaching programs - plan ahead! Close to NASA.
Annie Rupani
What an incredible museum fun for kids and adults alike. There's something for everyone, whether you're more tactile and want to interact with exhibits, or a history buff who wants to explore the journey of each plane, this museum has a lot to offer in knowledge and fun!
Veronica B.
Excellent!! Museum!! Beautiful planes! and a load of history!
Jeffry Kellen
Great place. New location is amazing looking. Can't wait for it to open. Old place needed an upgrade. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable.
Andrew Perka
One of the very best aviation museums in the US. The airplanes here are living examples of aviation history. The hands-on theory of flight exhibits are the best I've seen in any museum and are great for kids.
Frieda Wiley
For a smaller flight museum, I felt that this museum did a lot with less space. There’s a wide variety of planes to look at, and there are some plane engines as well. Unlike other flight museums, the Lonestar flight museum has some interactive exhibits including a simulated flight room. They also have special activities including demonstrations and flyovers.
The Don
A great experience. A small easy walking museum with just the right amount of things to see. Some very interesting exhibits and interactive displays - not to mention the flight simulators. A enjoyed the gift store as well.
Erika M
Came during their labor day event my child and hubby had a blast! They both very enjoyed the planes, simulator, and the museum. The prices are affordable and there is free parking.
Daniel De Smet
Great planes. Would have stayed longer had I not had to wear a mask.
Michael Rossi
A true treasure. The museum is immaculate. The staff is fantastic. The exhibits are absolutely stunning. We really enjoyed visiting this place. I will say that the only negative was the extreme lack of artifacts compared to the literature. There are many boards to read and it would be nice if they had more artifacts related to each board. Other than that, great place!
Greg White
A great museum and staff. Very clean. Well maintained. Lots of fun.
Benoit Lamoureux
Super clean hangars. Very cool planes. Wonderful volunteers.
Kendall Mares
Great museum for those who love aviation or want to learn more about it!
Mark Ocana
Nice little museum, lots of history, you could learn a thing or two
Kim Garcia
Everyone there is so nice and helpful! I love the aircrafts they have, sad to find out they don't have the P51 Mustang anymore but still worth the visit. I got an adult ticket for $5 but I was told it was just that on Thursdays. You should definitely visit if you love aviation!
Jun KIM
this museum has a lot things to attention young kid and adult. if u interest about historic aircraft, here is good option.
Allstar Ambassador (Houston Insider)
Had a great time here! So many interesting planes and other ww2 machinery like jeeps and helicopters. On weekends you can go for ride in a 2 seater for a fee.

Patrick Stowell
well organized with lots of high quality (and airworthy!) aircraft from all eras. nice staff, cool exhibits about the history of flight in Texas and military history of Ellington. Very cool special exhibit on WASPs too. well worth the time, even with the near hour drive across town

Thought everyone is nice.. hubby and I had a great time. It’s clean and really cool place to be!
Brandon Lanczak
Cool place to check out. Very friendly staff and super clean facility.
Carlos Martinez
Great place. Very clean and informative.
Daniel Gildersleeve
What an amazing collection of historic wartime, commercial and recreational planes, helicopters and memorabilia.
Tom Lambrecht
Very well done museum, an improvement on the former Galveston location. Loved the planes up close. The hands on displays and experiences for children are excellent, although some of them do not work properly. But our children age 5-10 had a blast, as did their parents. Also loved the interpreters who happened to be there that day telling stories behind the planes.
ciaran
The experience was okay, but I was disappointed my group got to see the Mooney M20R Ovation, I was suprised on what was happening. It was just very basic things that I felt were geared toward kids a bit younger than me. No one said anything about emergencies or wind direction. Not even a little explanation of the things inside the cockpit. It wasn't much news to me. When we got to the simulators I was even more disappointed. I couldn't move around in the cockpit to see much at all. Some of the controls were broken and there is no point for radio headphones if there is no ATC. It was much harder to control because I had little control over the plane. It's almost like the plane battery failed.
Patrick Harding
Very cool experience. Fun way to spend a few hours.
Keith Lawrence
The collection of aircraft from all eras is impressive. What is even more impressive is that they are all air worthy! Great to visit and greet for kids of all ages.
Gladys Medrano
My husband flew in the Stearman, best experience ever!
Everyone is so kind there.
Kids did the museum and they have the best kid area and a plus is the scavenger hunt paper that keeps the kids excited!
Definitely recommend it for a fun time!
Edgar Fausto (Carpa13)
Really enjoyed visiting this small museum.this is a must for parents with young ones.
najiimba
Amazing experience!

Great Museum, found it by accident (four German guys on a roadtrip). Interesting planes, really nicely made (great educational corner) and staff was mega nice!
Mathew Howard
I wish the had more for basic admission. But all in all, not bad.
bob lol
Always have a good time. Learned how too start doing photography coming here.
Alma V.
A wonderful experience, excellent place to go with the little ones! Highly recommended
Taryn Alexandros
Susan helped me choose a flight experience for a gift. She was great to talk to and very knowledgeable. The museum has several models on display but the flight experience is their shining star. I thought the prices were reasonable for the service.
Alex Yang
Great place to check out some airplanes in person. I went on a Tue afternoon and there were very few people there. The planes were in pristine condition and you will have fun. Try using Groupon for a discount.
Jonathan Richards
Great place with tons of activities. It was not our first visit, and it won't be our last!
Michael Kelley
We had a great time! The staff is fantastic, helpful, educational, and friendly. Do not miss this if you are in the area! The interactive displays are the best of any exhibits we have seen. The planes are phenomenal.
Nicholas McKenna
Huge selection of planes
David Schermerhorn
Fun compact museum with a good spread of Military, civilian and NASA vehicles ✈️🚁🛵🛩️ …
Cedric Jones
I loved the history of the planes. Very quiet & clean. And saying"THANK YOU"to all the Men and Women who have and those that are still serving. Special Congratulations to T.J PARKER for giving us 21 years of service. Enjoy your Retirement.
E Sekumade

My husband and I enjoyed the Candlelight Concert held at the Lone Star Flight Museum. It was a lovely and relaxing event. The venue, musicians and music selection were all excellent.
eolabc
Our favorite museum.
Have good special presentations.
chuckyj99
Quality accommodations, professional, attentive, and courteous staff! Awesome facility!
Daniel Yang
Definitely my favorite museum in the Houston area!
SW Choi
Lots of cool air planes! And flight simulators
Richard Smith
Great museum with lots of rotating planes coming in; so there's usually a couple different planes every time we go. Great place to take kids or a group of kids to learn about older historical planes. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They even have other displays like the history of the Battleship Texas which we found very informative. The balcony is also a great spot to stand and look over all the planes in the hanger. What many of our group found fascinating was that all but 2 of their planes actually fly at least once to several times a year.
Virginia Riley
If you are into aviation history, this place is awesome
Daniel Amele
This place has great planes and 2 floors and colorful restrooms. They even have a plane Kevin Hart rode on.
Althea Jennnings
This was a special event given by Grace Church , my first time being here, I was totally impressed
o rudna
I'm not a huge fan of planes and I went there with friend who is obsessed with planes. I was pleasantly surprised how interesting this place is.
Robb & Sarah Bute
Great place to visit. Loved it.
Anthony Addison
Been going to this museum for over 20 years and it gets better every time. Their aircraft are in perfect condition and they now have many hands on, educational activities for all ages.
George
Very good exhibits with friendly staff stationed throughout to supplement explanations on plagues with something interactive.
Brody Burks
This is an AMAZING place, where the airplanes are all flyable- not just museum pieces. However, be aware that they are moving locations. The Galveston location is closing and will reopen in Houston later this summer.
John Smith
This place is great if your in the area. But by no means in any way deserves the five star rating it somehow got. Many planes, such as their B-17 are no longer on display and have since been moved to Dallas. Was pretty disappointed as that was the main reason we came to this museum. Other than that the displays look rushed. Some staff were very friendly while others seemed to act like they were the only ones in the museum.
Robert Lacy
Absolutely fantastic experience here! Brought my family out and had a great time, happened to catch the Texas Raiders B-17 and take a tour of it which was great.
The last time I got to visit the museum was when I was a kid back when they used to be at Galveston, so this was my first time getting to see the new facility.
All of the staff are truly phenomenal people, they are very friendly.
Conde Travel
Underestimated the size of this place! Really nice & clean. Will definitely go back to check out the rest of the museum!
Keturah Benak
What a wonderful museum! We found it by driving past it and decided to go in. The kids loved seeing the aircraft and the interactive (and educational) exhibits. My husband and I found it very informative (and were pretty enthralled with the aircraft as well). Such helpful, warm, welcoming docents and staff. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The interactive exhibits were all working and working well. We will absolutely be back, probably any time we're in the area.
kyle sweeney
Great museum. Try the flight simulator in the main hanger.

Awesome little museum. Great place to get out of the heat for a couple hours. There are some great exhibits about Texas' aviation contribution. There are also tons of fun science/aviation learning experiences for kids. The aircraft on display are in very good condition with great amounts of information.
J M
Really enjoyed the museum. Loved the amount of information that was available. If your into history and dont mind reading (lots of reading) you’ll enjoy it.
Steve R
Brought my parents and kids here and loved it. The interactive area was worth it. NASA feels old and outdated compared to this museum.
Deric Adam
Loved this museum! Wish we had more time on the weekend to spend here, but it was a blast. They have a nice variety of aircraft on display, and most are airworthy! Loved seeing drip pans underneath the SBD, that stuck with me for some reason.
If you're in Houston and have a few spare hours, definitely stop in.
Mark Pool
This was our first trip out since they moved its location. Can't say enough about it! The staff were excellent! The planes have been restored to mint condition. They were giving a talk on one of the planes and there was a Veteran there in the audience that had piloted the plane and was adding his wartime experiences to the presentation. The entire visit was outstanding and well worth your time.
M. G.
The place looks clean and staff was nice. I also visited the Starbucks inside the museum. Overall had a good experience.
Ismael Ramos
Lots of information and indoor fun. Simulators and pictures to take. Great time to take a break from the heat and take advantage of online discount prices. Lots of parking and handicap access. Very close to restaurants by the way
James Braley
Mixed feelings on this flight muesem. It was very nice and the staff was great. But it only had a few planes and it was 50 bucks for a family of 4. I have gone to several flight museums and this one I think is the most expensive. If you have gone to other flight museums I would personally recommend skipping this one.
Debra Benton
This place is awesome. So much history and so much innovation was everywhere. We loved the giant pictures going around the room. It felt like so impactful. The displays were awesome. We visited the B29 bomber and got to go inside it. Incredible. Super cool experience
Joe Schmid
Excellent summer camp, flight simulators for all ages, hands on aviation/aerospace engineering models, history pictures and informational areas and most of an incredible collection of beautiful airplanes.
Bradley Tharp
Had a great time today. This place has a wide variety of places on display. They also have an entire section about the history of flight which has A LOT of information. There is also a large hands-on education section. The only "complaint" I have is that there is no real place to get something to eat. It only has a couple of soda machines and a single snack machine. Other than that, I would highly recommend it.
Alexis Palmer
I have been wanting to go for years and I was NOT disappointed. I have loved aviation my whole life. Very nice people who work there, very clean bathrooms. Extensive knowledge and fantastic collection of old war birds! Truly a awesome experience. Can't wait to take my son when he can appreciate it more! I'd give this place a higher rating if I could. Also kids 3 and under free and adults 15$! No brainier for any summer activities with the family to beat the heat!??
Blanca Molero
Great place if you love history and airplanes. They have simulators and fun activities for kids! And I was able to enjoy all as an adult lol. The Museum is not that big but definitely worth it.
gil cariaso
Omg! What an absolute fun and amazing place! All my kiddos loved going to this place to see all the different airplanes! Great place to take your family!
Curtrina Hansley
We had a great time here. Found a deal on Groupon && it was a blast. Even though one hanger was closed (the first floor for a reception) it was beautiful to see from the 2nd floor . No strange looks everyone just observing. Nice and quiet when we went. ** These are only my opinions **
Angela Allen
I visited the Lone Star Flight Museum in Houston, TX on October 28, 2021 with members of Fallbrook Church. We had a wonderful and educational experience. The docents were excited to share their knowledge of the history of flight. The museum also offers programs for students. I recommend the Lone Star Flight Museum for all ages. It's a fascinating place.
Eric
Wonderful museum, well laid out and helpful staff. Try the flight simulator
Freedom Soul
Absolutely beautiful museum, the students had an amazing time and learned a lot. The flight simulation allow them an opportunity to fly a plane.
J Koon Realtor
A must see for everyone no matter if your new to the area or not
paul hughes
It was real good...
Bob Wilson
If you are interested in aviation this is a must see.
Bart Hammack
Very good Texas in flight history exhibits and flight principles labs.
Francois VG
Many beautiful planes in impressively good conditions !
Curt acer
Loved the experience and the staff was amazing. As someone who like aircraft it made me happy to know that the planes are kept in amazing condition for their age.
Rita Darnell
Stayed here as part of harvest hosts. Very nice facility, employees and interesting displays. The educational section was a lot of fun...even for adults.
Delores Moore
Went here while on a recent visit to the coast with my teenaged grandsons, the eldest who is very knowledgeable about aircraft and has a special connection to WW 2 aircraft thru his great-grandfather who was a tail-gunner on a B-17. They enjoyed the exhibits of planes as well as the demonstrations and explorations of aero dynamics. This was a great place for us to spend a aftenoon.
Richard Smith
Not a lot of planes but great exhibits and very interactive. Rotation of planes coming in; so there's usually a couple different planes every time we go.
Jose Flores
I'm a big sucker for Aviation museums in general but I've never seen it done so well and with Airplanes that are still able to fly. Absolutely recommend for all ages. They even have an exhibit that does a great job teaching kids how planes work and the science behind it all.
Loren Anderson
Little to no people, good Friday afternoon trip. Very clean.
Monica Leone
Took my brother, former Air Force test pilot and current Boeing test pilot, to visit the museum. We agreed this was a terrific flight museum. All the exhibits are really well done. The museum staff members were friendly and informative. Feeling lucky to be able to see all the vintage planes year-round and indoors (regardless of weather). The children's educational exhibits were really nice as well. We enjoyed it very much.
K Smith
Excellent exhibits in very nice complex. Extremely clean and cool considering outside it was scorching hot! Highly recommend it.
Lon Young
This place is awesome! I attended a wedding reception here and it might be the only reception I've attended that the men enjoyed as much as the women! It easily accommodated entertainment with a classy environment.
Not only does it have lots of airplanes, motors, propellers, etc... It also has great, interactive displays. And patrons are allowed to get really close to many of the airplanes.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Association Hall
Beautiful scenery, excellent event! Would love to attend the next venue! #candlelightbyfever
Todd T
Don't expect dozens of old aircraft at this museum. There are maybe 12-18 total planes, but they are all immaculate, and based on the number of drip pans under the engines, they are still functional. The grounds and the building are excellent, and the curators of the museum have added ample written stories, pictures and history to support the role of the museum as a representation of the role that the state of Texas played on aviation.
This museum exceeded my expectations by miles.
Steven Yung
Fantastic collection and fantastic interactive exhibits!
Amanda Ratcliff
Lots of history. Good way to spend a few hours out of the heat
Andrew Delpha
This museum is great. My boys loved it. In addition to the various planes on display, they have a hands on area where kids can learn about how planes fly. Also had a neat ticketed exhibit where kids learn how to make a flight plan, go over a pre flight check list, and sit in a plane and move the controls to see how that moves the flaps.
TPE2DFW
Great visit, so lucky to catch a presentation from the curator on the Predator drone, the indoors also has a temporary exhibit for the Texas battleship that is being renovated. We also flew the flight simulator on computers, I flew under golden gate bridge and buzzed Alcatraz. Of course the hangar display is awesome, there's one pristine F4U corsair and my favorite TBM (my first scale model) torpedo bomber, it is 2 or 3 story tall, even with wings folded, it's huge. Go and enjoy the history and feel the industrial might of our country. Almost told my wife to just leave me there. I recommend this place.
Patrick Nguyen
Not crowded and everything is very thoughtfully laid out and planned. Kids (ages 6-7) did a scavenger hunt from a worksheet they gave, and we spent close to 3 hours there. The flight sims were included in the admission so that was a good break. The cherry was definitely the interactive kid stations that were very well though out. An engineer or a science teacher planned this museum out.
Daniel Burden
A very interesting place to go at least once in your life. My kids had a blast on the flight simulators. Former pilots and other experienced personnel were patrolling the exhibits, frequently stopping by and sharing concepts and experiences with genuine zeal. If you have a family member who is obsessed with aeronautics, I could see how a membership could be worthwhile. Otherwise, a single visit should be sufficient for most. Surprisingly, the gift shop was very reasonably priced with many small objects around $3-5.
Cathy R
This is a fantastic museum. Absolutely beautiful vintage aircraft. The displays are clean, crisp and on target. There are so many photos that just add to your delights. Loads of fun hands on stuff for children, too. Enjoy!
Sally Spieldenner
This is a great place for the plane enthusiast and families. It really has something for everyone there! We really loved the "flight academy" exhibit where the kids can get all the hands on interaction they want. The planes are the real attraction. We are definitely coming back for more.
April Moreno
The Lone Star Flight Museum is must see for all history buffs. They have an amazing collection of World War II planes, and my son was running from plane to plane taking pictures.
Marc Sierra
Come and join us at the Lonestar flight museum the preferred caterer Silver STONE EVENTS is perfect for this venue site highly recommended
Leah Ann Corley
This place is wonderful & educational. It teaches the history of aviation & the part it played in WWII. It has a section with notable contributors to our Aviation history. Attended the Hangar Bash special event & toured the B17 & one of the first commercial planes. You can take flights on some of the planes which I did for my husband. Once in a lifetime experience. Reservation required for this. A great fun family day.
Bryan W
This is a very nice museum on aviation here in the Houston area. Admission prices are very reasonable for both adults and children. The building is very nice and they have a very nice collection of aircraft, including war planes and helicopters. The interactive lessons on the physics of flying is very nice. Probably a little too advanced for my 3 year old but my 8 year old enjoyed that part of it.
Staff is very friendly.
Heidi Tuynman
Lone Star Flight Museum is huge! It's definitely a must see. The kids had a lot of fun at the interactive exhibit area. We loved all of the aircraft, especially the helicopter. There was a special robotics show where the kids got to control one of the robots. Ending the day at the gift shop is the way to go. We all bought shirts and the kids got toys.
Bryson Conroy
Didnt expect much, but was very suprised! lots of cool planes, (although i suggest adding an f6) and the hands on area was very fun.
Enrico
Absolutely a must visit!
It's very exciting and instructive for both kids and grownups and finding out all planes are still flying is extraordinary.
Kevin made everything even better, talking to us about the B17 they have in the Hangar.
We even had a chance to meet a veteran who fought in WWII!
Overall incredible experience! Thanks for everything!
L Garcia
Very educational but I expected more somehow.
Engin Turan
Tickets are $ 10 which is affordable and you can see a lot of planes especially which are belongs to world second war.
Matt Adamson
This place is fantastic! Lots of really cool vintage planes, very good information about how they were used in the past, and all in huge hangers, well spread out. Family had a blast, can't wait to go back in the futute!
Nathan Taylor
Phenomenal place! Really great for kids and adults alike. The volunteers are superb and took time to talk with and encourage my two children (4 and 8 y/o). We had a really enjoyable visit and spent over 2 hours exploring.
Leo Gomez
I was there for a Candlelight concert. Great concert!
Rush Doulati
Candel light concert was held there. Not impressed.
T Todd
Fascinating! A great mix of self-guided and interactive exhibits. We had kids with us ranging from 6 to 13 and everyone enjoyed it and learned a lot! The staff are exceptional. We spoke to several and they were all engaging and eager to answer our questions.
Jax Musani
What an amazing experience of vintage aviation and pre and post ww2 era. They are really amazing at maintain vintage planes and information of aviation industry and ww2 with single handful points. It was an fabulous experience being there for whole day without feeling tired or bored. Nicely detailed information on board.
James Beams
Fun museum to visit for a couple hours. Has two hangers with a variety of planes and a few prototype items from NASA. There is an interactive exhibit for kids and a room of flight simulators available part of the day. Also has a small exhibit about the USS Texas.
Daniel
The museum has been completely revamped since it's move from Galveston. It looks amazing. Very clean and open exhibits allow you to walk among some of the coolest aircraft you could ever see in person. The rotating exhibits also allow for a different experience every time and the flight academy let's kids 10 and up try flight simulators and even do a flight check in a real plane all at no extra cost. Can't wait to come back.
A S
The aircraft on display are fantastic. Lots of history. Great exhibits and hands - on activities. Nice souvenir shop. Clean and organized museum. Great aviation learning center and flight academy. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. We've seen multiple aircraft taxi, take off and land. Just a great place.
Joel Cox
Love it! A super nice surprise.
Jan Åke Schiller
Good place for aviation history.
Alexander Noelker
A very nice place also for children
Beela's Bees
Went here on a AFJROTC field trip once. Came back with family now that I can no longer take the course. I love it.
Patrick Kennedy
Great place to view and learn about aviation history!
Richard Poplett
Plane exhibits were great. I built models of several of them when I was younger. The flight academy was very good showing principles of flight. Bernoulli principle and Newton's were covered. Displays to go with them. Some you could try. Great for someone just wanting to learn how planes fly.
Jerrod Henderson
Cool location, impressive hidden gem
Justin Pierre San Luis
They have a very wide variety of planes and very educational
Karen Ramey
Wow! A really spectacular museum!!! The docents are very knowledgeable guides.
Timothy Kinsey
I have been to a lot of museums. But this one takes the cake. The staff came out and gave personalized tours different aircraft. They were very talkative and very passionate about their craft.
Ron Mahle
I'm a volunteer. Love the place and the staff.
Victor Schloss III
Came for a vibey time at Candlelight concert 🎶🎶 Perfect Date Night …
jeff shepherd
Quite a good value. This really is a good value for the price, if you purchase the membership you will be quite happy but after six or seven trips you'll find there's not a whole lot of new things to do. It is well worth it though and on certain days they have an actual pay to ride in a Stearman or a t-6 aircraft, highly recommend
Trey Palmer
Wonderful place! It's still very new, but they've got the bugs worked out.
This is a great museum for veterans and anyone getting interested in flight. Do take advantage of the flight simulators if you can.
Monica Zavala
So many things to see and fun for the kids too.
Nick
Awesome museum with interesting one of a kind examples in simply awesome condition. Also a lot interesting displays regarding, specifically, Texas' involvement with aerospace and flight history.
J K
Amazing 🤩.100/100
Excelente for kids and aircraft lovers. A good place to know how airplanes work, their history and interact with flight simulations. I loved the gift shop store …
Jocelyn Chilson
Good museum but not sure it’s worth the price. Live flights throughout the day made the experience unique
Jenifer Carter
We went on $5 Thursday which is a significant savings. The displays were nicely signed. There was a lot of aircraft to see.
Larry Garza
The museum is well done with things to do and see for kids and adults. My kids were especially impressed that we were able to fly to the museum and park next to a F6F Hellcat on the museum ramp. The airplane displays are great with well maintained planes and descriptions and the other exhibits are great and interactive.
Sondra Harrison
The people are nice and there are great things on display
Sydney B
I had an outstanding visit! The facility is aesthetically pleasing and well maintained. The reception staff is cordial and genuine. The admission price is reasonable. The museum is easy to navigate and has interactive areas for all ages. There are gliding and flight simulators as well as actual flights in some of the preserved aircraft. The gift shop employees were helpful and humorous. There are even areas prominently identified for ideal selfies. This was a joy to visit! Thank you!
El MF
Great place to cool off in the summer heat. The planes are in crazy good condition, and there's plenty to read about them and many history making aviators, many from Texas. There's even a spot where you can fly a simulator - I wish I could remember the (very) young mans' name that helped us - he was super sweet and knowledgeable. We had a great time visiting and picked up some great merch - I love my Flight Museum Visor!
Hector Mendez
Beautiful, fun time with family. The history and science behind flight is a true experience for your kids to be of their phones and pay attention!
Rusty Allen
I enjoyed the new location. Yes, they have been at the current location for a few years but it is very much an upgrade. More hanger space for displaying the aircraft but also there is space for classrooms and media presentations. Great for groups or a single person wandering around.
Nayyara Kauser
Unbelievable experience!!! We can have a closer look to all kinds of cool air crafts. My kids had a great experience and Mr. Doug, owner of the Museum was very kind to explain about the aircrafts and give my kids special treat by having them experience of sitting in pilot's seat.
Appreciate Mr. Doug and the entire staff.
Jay Olson
Such a cool museum! We bought season passes and love seeing all the planes and exhibits. How many museums can you go to where the items on exhibit are still used? Hopefully, will get a chance to fly in one of those planes soon!
Frank “Amigo Opie” Smith
Good for all ages. Texas has contributed to the history of flight in ways that haven't been widely taught. If your interested in flight or planes at all this is definitely a place to spend couple hours .
Curtis Densmore
What a great experience. The two hangars are filled with aircraft of a variety of types, sizes, ages, and nationalities. The museum section is very educational about the science and engineering of flight, as well as its history. There's lots of hands-on and reading material. They also have a paper airplane building station and a big ruler marked on the floor so you can measure your flight distance. The building is new, very clean, and well-designed. There's plenty of parking and the price is right.
CS Winz
Awesome planes, information and history on flight.. kids enjoyed the hands on activities but not really for toddlers
Ruben Kan
Visited this museum during Smithsonian Museum Day. The facilities are exceptional and the hangars are super clean and can be opened up. The staff are friendly and I even saw a volunteer give a good talk on the aircraft. This is well worth it if you get the $10 per person ticket. There is a room for young children to learn about the principles of flight. My only complaint is on the outside of the museum when it rains, there is massive runoff from the landscaping onto the walkways, and also the exterior door in the cafe cannot close properly and water gets in from there, but I'm sure this relatively new problem will be fixed in short order.
Gabriela Adcock
They offered a flamenco show performance by candles lights
Salvatore Doceti
What a nice surprise...just stopped in on my way to get an ID and truly enjoyed my visit.
Mike Horn
One of the best air museums that I've visited. Excellent display of rebuilt WWII warbirds and an extensive gallery covering the history of flight. Also, there is a really slick STEM oriented display explaining the basics of aerodynamics. Big thumbs up for this experience.
Lyndall Baker
Excellent museum. The kids enjoyed looking at the old planes and the interactive exhibits. They have a little scavenger hunt for the kids as well that really helped get then involved in wanting to learn about the history and exhibits.
Vicki Feeback
If you like everything flight, you will love this place. You not only see hangared aircraft, but you walk through history and learn of Texans that contributed so much to the flight program. If you are adventurous, you can purchase a ride in different vintage planes when they are being offered.
Kent Albert
Very Awesome!!! Can't wait to go again...
Samuel Wasden (Sam)
While not as extensive as the Smithsonian Air and Space, still a well maintained and enjoyable collection. Great for kids who love world war 2 naval planes.
David Ohhh
A great museum with lots of historic planes. The docents give great tours and can tailor them to your group's age or interests. Many of the planes still work and are still flown. You can even pay to fly on some of them, like the B-17.
The demonstrations/experiments are well done and demonstrates basic flight principals.
Caden Harriman
I recommend coming here with the family and friends. This is a place where you get to know the history of the planes that were used .
PAULA COLLIE-DEMENT
Absolutely amazing; with the old location being lost to Hurricane Ike this new museum is wonderful! It is very interactive for school age kids & would be a great interactive field trip to learn about the history of & how planes operate. The center has activities set up for pre during & post educational STEM activities. Be sure to add it to your itinerary with school or family!!🤗👍✈️🛬🚁🛩
Shannon Miracle
I bought my husband a gift certificate for a flight here and our only disappointment was that we havent visited sooner! We were blown away by, not only the beautiful facility and amazing aircraft on display, but by the wonderful people that work and volunteer here. A special thanks to Emily and Kevin!!! We will definitely be seeing y'all again soon!!!
Kale LeBlanc
Very nice new facility compared to Galveston. The new location is more centered around education and interactive exhibits as well as the aircraft. The only negative take away is the lower number of total aircraft on display, but that is offset with the fact that a lot are in flying condition.
breana mieszanek
I went to the museum with my two daughters, 4 and 9 years old. The facility is new & well maintained. The employees are friendly and helpful. There are planes to view up close and hands-on exhibits!
Bryan Ward
ITS AWESOME!
The staff is very friendly, the condition of the plane is prestige to say the least. The musium felt new clean and organized. They have some very cool planes and history. Highly recommend
Cody Raeth
Wow! As an avid fan of the original Galveston location I was absolutely blown away by the new facility at Ellington Field. There are so many amazing exhibits in addition to the amazingly preserved aircraft. Lots of activities for the kiddos and awesome learning opportunities for all ages. I can't recommend a trip enough, it might seem a little pricey but it is well, well worth the price of admission.
Drone Parks Worldwide
Without a doubt the best private aerospace museum in the nation. The B-17 is out of this world! Lone Star is a very nice facility; you could eat off of their hangar if you wanted. The ALC is a wonderful place for kids to learn about aviation in an experiential environment. You have to see this place!
Casandra George
Absolutely a must do for everyone. We enjoyed reading about the planes & the training these pioneers of flight endured. Fun for all ages, even us old folks of 50
Yolanda F
The exhibits are informative and fun. You can get up close to planes and jets. I thought the history of aviation was so interesting . This museum was amazing.
Hope Chaoui
My 13 year old son loved the flight simulator. I just would have liked it more if the guy doing that part would have done the whole tour instead of walking us straight to the simulator. there is so much information you can spend more than a couple hours there. We also liked the hang glider simulator and learning the physics of how the shape affects the way a plane flies. The guys that were there answered any questions we had. They have a gift shop that has pretty cool things.
Vincent Clark (Gradplanner)
A beautiful display of aircraft and war birds from the past.
Chuck Gardner
Absolutely blown away with everything about this museum! Come early and spend the whole day here. You will see rare and historic airplanes and learn about Texas aviation history that you never knew before. The flight simulators are a must and gives you a hands on feel for being a pilot. There is so much to do here whether you are a kid or senior. Experience this museum and then tell everyone that you know about it!
Sarah Rodriguez
Underrated flight museum! Amazing selection of airplanes and other flight memorabilia. The flight simulators were a cherry on top!
Ronald Joy
Beautiful, immaculate museum. Displays are well thought out with great information on each. Interactive portion is fun and educational. Covid protocols are well done! Highly recommend for any age!
Dennis Garrett
Had a great time visiting with my son while in Houston. A very nice facility with a good selection of different period aircraft as well as some fun simulator stuff too. Anyone interested in aviation will have a blast!
Stefanie K
Fun place for adults and kids. We don't have kids and we loved it. On Thursdays the ticket price is only $5!
Rick Primeau
If you like classic planes you will love museum I became a member trying to spend as much time there as possible have a lot of interesting exhibits
Vince Smith
I've been to aviation museums around the World and this museum is a top notch place. All new facility built right on the Ellington Airport. Very easy to get to off of 45 South and Highway 3. They have many restored and flying warbirds and offer rides per their website. This is a must visit if you have friends or family from out of town. Go see this museum.
Mariea Gallashaw
It was my first time here and me and daughter really enjoyed it! Very educational and they have so much information about airplanes that I never knew!
Alejandra Capooci
We came here for an Army ball but really enjoyed seeing the planes they’ve got there. Guy at the check in area was super nice and my husband and I engaged in conversation with him and he was so kind to explain things about museum to us.
Joshua Smith
Wonderful museum with great hands on educational opportunities. Most of the planes are operational and we were fortunate enough to be there in a day where four of them were flying. Beautiful new facility and great staff.
David Smith
Super friendly staff. Beautiful facility was impeccably maintained! The displays are amazing, and the historical information is extremely educational.
Robert Devor
Wide variety of aircraft displayed indoors, climate controlled, from early days of flight to jets and helicopters. Includes flight-capable aircraft (rides available). Educational center, flight sumulators (not part of the tour) & gift shop. Would've liked some outside static displays but that requires $$$/upkeep. Tour guides available to explain the displays. 😎
john littlejohn
Good place to wander around and look at historical old planes. Spent couple hours there. They knew their stuff. Very clean.
Richard Foisner
What an interesting, fun, and educational place. Top notch flight museum with dozens of planes to see. Very big facility, with lots of walking, plan accordingly. Can take 2 to four hours to see the whole place, just depends on how much you want to see.
Chad Jeanes
Polite staff, and we'll kept facility. Don't expect to get up close and personal with any aircraft. If you can appreciate what you're seeing for the history of it, that's great, but my son was gung ho to see inside crew areas, cockpit's, etc. We'll stick to air shows in the future.
Jeremy Martinez
Fantastic journey through aviation history!
Charles Wannall
I will take more of a look one day, but on my first visit I was simply awestruck being able to walk around the B17 and B25. There are some other very cool aircraft that I will pay more attention to one day, like the F4 Corsair. Finding out that they fly the 17 and 25 many Saturdays means being able to come to the apron and watch preparations, taxi and takeoff. That sounds like a Saturday morning we really need to have. May e more than once.
Linda Raeth
The Flight Museum is an amazing structure full of historical planes and interesting historical facts. It is a little pricey, but we'll worth the price of admission. We spent two hours and can't wait to.go back again.
Razor's Armory (Razor's Armory)
I think this is the best Flight museum any were around most of the Air craft fly and for a small fee you can take a ride in one of them. They will be moving to Ellington Field really soon since they were flooded from Hurricane Ike and they lost millions of dallors of flight artifacts during the storm. I really enjoy going and seeing the air craft and watching them get fixed up and ready to fly again.
Jesse Farmer
Great museum that is often over-looked in Houston. Some very neat planes in their collection and excellent text and facts accompanying the exhibits. Staff is friendly and courteous. There's also a science section with hands-on experiments regarding aerodynamics.
Richard Morey
Great place to go and see some of the planes that made history. Places for kids to learn and experiment.
George Anderson
Must visit for anyone interested in aviation. Very well done and TONS to learn. Especially if you have a kid interested in learning to fly, take them here. They can learn the majority of the info they would receive in private pilot ground school here in the museum. In addition to cool old planes and great learning exhibits, there are also basic simulators, a full motion sim, and an actual plane they can preflight.
Michael Hooper
Great museum. Seeing the NASA shuttle simulator that all of NASA's astronauts trained on for the 30 year shuttle program was a highlight.
Bryan Ordonez-Santini (BryanOS118)
I loved the place. Great war birds and pieces of history. Staff are friendly. However, as of time of writing, some parts of the museum seem inaccesible, even when there are clearly more planes or objects to be seen. And some plaques are out of place. But this negative comment is negative because of the excellent work this museum has done to keep these old birds airworthy. Also, despite the fact the museum took a heavy hit during hurricane Ike, it still does its best, and succeeds, to present their aircraft, which is probably why some places are sanctioned off. Great museum overall, wish I could donate more to help!
Wendy Harrison
We came here for the first time today to see Santa. My school aged kids had a great time. They saw santa, did the scavenger hunt, and played in the glider. We got the tickets online which saved money. This was a big win for our sat am.
J S
Nice museum but very small. The gift shop is really good and has a lot of military stuff, which we liked. They have some cool stuff for kids too but not a lot of planes at all.
Matt McCauley
Very clean facility. The staff was quick to answer questions and explained functions to the kids.
Juan Gomez
This place has a mix of War Planes, Texas History as well as Flight Science and Flight History. I can't say I have a love for Flight or it's history (still enjoyed the museum), and there was plenty of information as well as an up close look at these restored WORKING planes. We went on a day when they were flying some of the planes, so it was nice to see. There is a section for kids to enjoy and learn about how a plane fly's and how a pilot do their job. They even had a Flight Simulator, where you can sit in a booth, and attempt to land a plane from Hobby to Bush Airport. I didn't do very well, so don't let me fly your plane.... cause we won't make it!
Brick House
The family and I recently visited the Museum. They have one of the ten remaining B-17's that are still airworthy. I enjoyed seeing all of their aircraft and speaking with the three employees/volunteers I ran into. If you have any interest in aviation it is worth the drive.
Bret W.
Great for aviation buffs. Admission a little steep for the size
Joe Schmoe
We had a tour guide named Brad. He had a lot of great information about each aircraft. Ive been to aircraft museums around the country, Lone Star was one of the best! Thanks.
David Cotlar
Excellent, less well known Houston museum. Fine collection of meticulously restored aircraft, from small Piper trainers to an early Continental Airlines plane, some military, others not. Also sprinkling of jeeps, helicopters, and other associated items. Well designed
educational explanations of all of these. Also, very good basic
flight explanation displays, with interactive features which seem
to be off limits for Covid reasons at time of this visit. Other exhibits
as well, including one on the closing months of the Second World
War. and a lot of Texas aviation history. Really worthwhile for people of all ages to understand and appreciate this aspect of the enormous efforts and sacrifice of so many men and women in civil and military aviation, especially at a time when military history seems to get less emphasis in school history courses.
One other note: "social distancing" works out a little better in this
museum than most, as the two major exhibit halls are essentially
indoor, air-conditioned hangar-sized spaces.
Highly recommenbded.

Great museum and an excellent location for events, like this Naval retirement ceremony.

Very well done selection of vintage aircraft. Activities for kids. Had a hands-on opportunity to touch and feel the inside of helicopters, especially a Coast Guard rescue chopper. Wish there were more like that.
Donald Hodges
Great museum!! Very family friendly, awesome children's area, and lots of cool planes to see and learn about. The fact that most of the planes are still air-worthy is really impressive!!

Well, I was a bit privileged to be allowed access to several interiors. And they are immaculately restored. Even better are the docents, very well informed and veritable fountains of trivia. I had a scintillating experience because of them.

Really cool place to visit. Reconnected with stories my grandparents told me of their ww2 experiences. Beautiful planes and helpful friendly staff.

Excellent museum with very friendly staff! Definitely a must see if you have any interest in aviation. Rotating exhibits and aircraft, so many reasons to return

Very good museum for adults with the aero bug or families with kids that like to learn.
Aaron Baker
The facility is so nice. They have lots of experiments for kids to understand how planes and aerodynamics affect flight. Very nicely restored aircraft too.
Murat Aldic
Great museum, the building itself is way better than the previous one in Galveston. I wish if the museum had more aircrafts on display as many of the aircrafts on display have been in the museum for years and a new addition would make the museum even more interesting. Anyways it’s a great museum overall.
Bill Campbell
Spotlessly clean with good information plates in front of displays.
