I went here yesterday and it was nice. I wish they had more painting or are pieces is all. But for the price I think it is worth it. I also went to the roof top bar and eating area. And I enjoyed it. I hope they are able to fill it with some plants for the summer cause it would make people stay up there longer. Like the rooftop is nice but it is also sad. The bartenders were very friendly and happy. I got the charcuterie board which was like $20 and it was good. I liked it.

We were stay at the Born and got two 'complimentary passes'. We both have a general interest in art and decided to check it out on a Friday an hour or so before they closed. There are lockers for larger bags, a gift shop, and a great rooftop space with a Cafe. The rooftop is really nice and I recommend checking it out

Wow!! What a place! And I went for the Dirty South exhibition, and it was incredible! The set up at this place is really amazing. They have multiple floors and spaces (including a basement, 4 floors & even a café with a rooftop space & a kids space upstairs!) it’s stunning. 2 unique things to check out: their a lending library and a borrow art program. Very unique!!

I came here for the first time and there was an opening for a new exhibition. I felt like my behavior was policed the entire time. While looking at one scultural piece, I barely went over the very hard to see line on the floor and was immediately told to be mindful. While looking at another sculptural piece, same situation and there was no line on the floor. I saw another person get super close but was not reprimanded. These pieces have so many details. I guess I'm supposed to appreciate the surface level from far away. It's a small museum. I was surprised there was no permanent collection.

Very nice art museum. We took a little break on our trip and just enjoyed the cafe on the 3rd floor. Very relaxing environment.

I enjoyed spending a Sunday afternoon perusing the MCA…for free! I reserved my MCA entrance ticket through the Jeffco library cultural passes system. I believe it’s also available through the Denver library and Boulder library (anyone with a valid Colorado address can sign up for a library card at all Colorado public libraries). I’m not a big museum person so I wouldn’t have thought of spending time at the MCA if not for the library perk. I liked the current exhibit on the art and culture of the South. I might purchase a membership in the future because I liked the experience so much. The modern architecture is delightful; the building has a cute rooftop cafe with small appetizers and beverages. The location is ideal for downtown exploration. I like having the option to grab lunch at a nearby restaurant like Jinya, pop into the museum, get a coffee at Hello Darling, and enjoy a stroll through Commons Park. MCA is a fairly small museum but it has a big cultural footprint for downtown-living Denverites.

I enjoyed the three exhibits that were open. They were put together well and facilitated the artists’ concepts overall. The building and grounds are really gorgeous and nicely kept. Staff were lovely people as well, and everything was easy enough to locate.
My only issue was that two or three major exhibitions were closed and the admission price was still the same. That seemed a little off to me.
I understand museums close, change, and update exhibits, but to have so much of the museum closed off at once makes for a poorer visiting experience.

Doesn’t have a super large collection when I was there. Rooftop view is gorgeous though. Parking is convenient on Sundays. Staff are super nice 😊 …

The art here was amazing and really thought provoking I had an awesome time and I highly recommended for any one who is an art lover even for people who don't typically go out of their way to go see.

Every state I visit the museums will always be found. This one didn't disappoint me. Quiet beautiful rooftop eatery. Great helpful staff members, Exhibits were breathtaking.
Megan Costella
Definitely recommend! This museum was small, but the detail and quality in the exhibits was very meaningful. The staff at the front desk / gift shop were very kind and got my ticket asap. There were not many people inside, so it didn’t take very long to walk through it all. The rooftop cafe has a great view of downtown, I could only imagine how relaxing it is in the summer with all the patio chairs and tables on the terrace.
Christina ODonnell
It was basically 3 floors with one artist or genre per floor.
It had a lot of space and probably would be better served to add more artists and genres. We reached the end and it felt mainly like..... This is all there is?
Price wasn't too bad at only $10 per person and it wasn't crowded on the Wednesday we went.
L. Patrice Bell
This was a beautiful museum. We had a great time exploring the 3 floors full of art. I will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Denver.
Kev Grasty
Enjoyed the museum a lot. Great exhibits and friendly staff.
Anthony Lambruschi
This museum is fine, I wasn't a huge fan of a few exhibits currently on display (August '22) which is unfortunate since the museum is small and only has one or two exhibits per floor.
The video experience downstairs was very well put together and absolutely worth the visit on its own.
Keith Beavers
A beautiful space with some interesting pieces. If you like contemporary art it's worth a look.
Rosie P
Love this museum! Amazing art, delight cocktails and fantastic gift shop
Blair Rose Zaid
Went here for the Dirty South exhibit. It was modern, moving, and evocative of so much African American culture. A must see!
Also their roof top bar was such a great space to enjoy the views.
Tammy Owins
Small museum without a permanent collection currently featuring Keith Haring Grace House murals he did to support the kids. Also featuring local Denver artists and Denver Black voices. Great roof patio, cafe and view.
Teah Cardenas
Wasn't what I was expecting but it was still beautiful. A peaceful building to enjoy some art installations.
Matt & Kiersten
This little art museum is so convenient to 16th St Mall, and it’s a great addition to a Denver day trip.
A few floors of different exhibits, with lots of distancing for covid.
We didn’t rush through (but with kids you tend to move a little faster through art museums) and we’re there for about 45 min.
There is a great teen exhibit on the top floor for the older kids.
We stopped in, but didn’t get anything from, the cafe. The menu seemed museum-worthy, not the typical cafeteria food often at museums.
Our only complaint is the confusing sign outside that says to wait there for your reserved time. You don’t need to wait outside, and we did for an unnecessarily long time. Unless the line it reaches outside, go on in!
Rainbow
Hit or miss with contemporary art. Some exhibitions are excellent and some are horrid but I enjoy checking them all out. Subjective. I like the restaurant/ bar best! Staff is very friendly but managers and "coordinators" are weird. most appear to have Attitude and are Unprofessional having "arrived" at their pinnacle career haaha idk why else the 'tude..???...hmmm .
Victor Wang
Amazing art museum that has quite a few exhibits showcasing local Denver artists. Not a large space but packed with multiple large exhibition halls and the building itself is beautiful piece of architecture with large glass windows and the entrance is amazing. They also run an amazing program that allows local residents to rent art pieces and place them in to your own home for free. The rooftop bar/cafe is a great way to take a look at the city and enjoy the sunny weather. A great mix of substrates from photos to videos, paintings to sculptures.
Dom Weldon
A very nice museum with more contemporary art exhibits than the museums on the other side of downtown. I’ve seen some really cool exhibits over the years here. Very nice building, beautiful showrooms and never too crowded allowing you to enjoy the art in peace. As a bonus there’s a really nice cafe / bar on the rooftop letting you hang out for a bit after checking out the place. Highly recommended!
Steve Replogle
I liked my visit. I found the installation by Derrick Adams to be the most interesting and exciting, especially "Future People." I was also intrigued by two other exhibits, "Honey" (strange and sort of fun, with a slight mythical twist) and "Spine" (strange, but very sad). I greatly appreciated how the exhibits supported minority artists or interests (Adams, Washington) or social justice concerns (Oppenheim). The fine arts - even contemporary arts - can harbor conservative sensibilities, but these exhibits were progressive in every sense of the word.
For a smaller museum, I thought the exhibits and the use of space were quite complementary. There was a flow and balance in the exhibit rooms that worked very well. I appreciated the posted texts about the exhibits and the artists; I felt that information was helpful and not intrusive. A small suggestion: it seems as though the very top floor could be utilized better. Sure, the revealed cityscape is striking, and the architectural design and patio garden are nicely done. But couldn't you display some statuary or other outdoor-friendly art up there? Again, only a small suggestion.
This was my first visit to MCA. It was inspirational, and I look forward to returning.
Fei Yu
not much here save a few street art pieces and photography though tickets are cheap... $10.
Andrew Bennett
Stopped by Dec 2018 to catch a Tara Donovan exhibit, which took up everything in the space.
Stunning pieces, she is probably more patient than I, given the difficulty of putting all of these pieces together.
I especially liked the 3D sculptures.
There is a small cake on the top floor, with outside tables. Nice views of the city up there.
Did have one room of local art students efforts, some of which were stunning
Definitely check this place out if you are into modern art.
Thierry K (tkos)
Great collections
Go to the terrace and enjoy the panoramic view
Carlos Ramirez
What a nice museum to visit in Downtown Denver. The exhibitions are interesting and well described in English and Spanish. An audio guide would be nice. The building itself is a piece of art. Make sure you explore. Suggest you take the stairs to the 3rd floor and enjoy a libation in the cafe and take in the nice downtown views on the rooftop. Check out their website for events, activities and current exhibitions. $10 for adults. $7 for seniors and students.
Laura Lynn Brooks
A nice addition to Denver arts and culture. A little small but they have thoughtfully curated shows. The current show by Tara Donovan is amazing and a must see. Past shows by Kristen Sink and Laura Shill have also been amazing. Love that they showcase many female artist. The rooftop is also amazing.
Riley
I enjoyed the exhibits but there's very little to see. I only spent about 30 minutes here and I expected to see more.
Nicole Simoes
The facility is an amazing Leeds certified structure. The space on the roof top is a favorite with little garden nooks to gather and have coffee or just enjoy the Denver city view. I wish it was a bit bigger to house more art. I do like the featured artists that come through as they bring in big names and up and coming artists.
Cade Lee
I really enjoy coming to this museum with the family frequently. There is always a new reception and there is so much going on as far as events, etc.
I have gotten to see so many artists and learn so much, the value is way more than what we paid to be members.
John Miller
Absolutely loved it. The design of the building itself is great, with an awesome rooftop bar and cafe, amd awesome spots for exhibits. I was fortunate to be there during the Tara Donovan exhibits, which were incredible.
Emily Goodin
Is there such a thing as "too contemporary"? In my opinion art can be contemporary but still speak to a basically conventional concept of beauty; some of the exhibitions at MCA don't conform to that concept so I'm ambivalent about them. But overall I enjoy visiting and I recommend it; maybe check the website before visiting to get an initial impression.
Marina Vance
Wonderful temporary exhibits enable you to keep coming back for more. The building itself is a work of modern art. I recommend a visit to the beautiful cafe and garden at the top floor.
Michael Evans
Good time it's fun and very interesting people took a lot of time to do what they did to amazing work.
Steve S.
I gave the museum a 5 star rating because the design of the building made good use of the space available for artwork. It happened to be a very nice day, so hanging out at the rooftop café and enjoying the view was nice. If your into contemporary art this would be a nice stop for you.
Derrick Hopkins
Nice museum, but kind of small.
There isn't that much to see.
You can do all in hour tops.
Its, ok. Not the best.
Kourtney Thomas
Absolutely amazing. What a perfect place to spend a couple hours inside when it's hot out. The current exhibits are incredible, and I loved spending time just observing and pondering. So fun and interesting, and we're lucky to have this gem in Denver! Especially lucky for penny Saturdays too :) Highly recommend a trip here!
Anna Wai
I appreciate very much the on-going exhibit with videos, music & paintings. We enjoyed charcuteries at the top floor & found it really well-curated. There is a lottery under Octopus Initiative. Well-worth the time!
Rachel Bastarache Bogan
Excellent museum of contemporary art, featuring both national and Colorado artists. The building galleries vary in size and shape, providing different spaces to explore the presented artwork. I especially enjoyed the installations of Nathan Carter and Kim Dickey.
Tiffany B
Tara Donavan exhibit is amazing! Admission is super affordable ($8), but if you’re tight on cash you can always visit during one of their monthly “penny admission” days. Would definitely recommend visiting! Also very walkable to many restaurants and bars.
Mark Keller
Museum is clean, well managed, and features incredible Contemporary art. While the changing exhibits provide opportunities to see something new each time you visit, I feel that the over all space of the museum is underutilized. With a fairly large building I feel like more artists and works of art could be featured without distracting from their individual significance.
In short great art, just not many pieces to see, worth the admission for what it is, just know going in that there aren't that many works to admire.
Of course the sparsity of the layout is also a choice. Like art and this review, all things are subjective.
Don't skip it, just know the details going in.
Justin Way
Visited the MCA for the first time on Sunday for the last day of the Tara Donovan exhibition and my was I impressed! While it is a relatively small space compared to other contemporary art museums I have been to, it was obvious that it works. There is enough variety in room layout to showcase one artist's work or 3 or 4, which of course means I will have to go back to see the next iteration of the MCA!
Krista Beth
my boyfriend's company Christmas party was held here and the view from the roof was amazing the whole venue was great and I 💕 the exhibition at the time …
Maddie Tyo-Hauser
MCA is one of Denver’s best hidden gems, people tend to forget about it since it’s not over by the DAM and the Clifford Still Museum, but if you are an art lover you can’t miss it! Tara Donovan’s fieldwork exhibit was amazing! I highly recommend catching it before it’s gone, but either way, MCA does a great job with their installations. They have really wonderful creative programming (Black sheep Friday’s) and a lovely café. If you park in the parking garage and the Davita building they will validate for you.
Danny Kabeya
I visited MCA recently they have a rooftop cafe and a beautiful view of the Denver Downtown. They have some beautiful stories and pieces of arts. You won’t be deceived.
Jessica Miller
Constantly changing exhibits so there is something new every time. Very well laid out and handicap accessible. Admission is very reasonable, and they give a student discount. Only drawback is that it's small!
Andrew Sullivan
Nice place, I just don't get art...
Based on the reply, I'm increasing my stars. The shop on the roof was nice and inviting as well.
James McAvoy
Limited exhibits and no permanent collections I noted, but wow, the exhibits were well curated and meaningful. So happy I went
Cat Raymonek
Our hotel have put free tickets so we strolled through. It has really cool things to see and it's good if you need to kill about 40-45 minutes. Only a few exhibits, but fun.
Anzhelika Arbatskaya
Didn’t really like current exhibition: it is more about the local artists biography rather than art. The building is cool and the roof top cafe is a very pretty place with decent prices on drinks
russell kauhl
Great exhibit! Helpful and pleasant staff. Loved the roof top cafe!
Patrick L
They do a great job with the displays and getting interesting rotations. Rooftop patio is also nice.
Marisa Adams
Pint size gallery that packs a punch. The labyrinthine like layout makes it feel much bigger than it is. The Richert exhibition was beautifully curated. And was only $8 entry fee. Didn’t stop at the rooftop cafe but it looked good. Stop by next time you are on Denver.
Alex Atkinson
A decent museum of moderate size. I spent 1 hour here. Go after 5pm to get the discount rate! Also not busy during this time on weekdays.
Jeff Allen
Had a membership back in the day live it there!!
Hannah Sultana
I love this museum— the times I have gone it has housed different displays, each filled with stunning art, but also deep significance. It’s a small enough building to flow like one big exhibit, but large enough to spend an hour+ looking around. There is also a rooftop bar/cafe which is a beautiful location with a great selection of drinks (alcoholic & non). I consider this to be of Denver’s (somewhat) hidden gems.
Eric Bond
I missed out on the rooftop and the cafe to a private event, but I would absolutely go back. The exhibits were well curated and the staff was friendly.
jr c
Beautiful and great for kids. We saw the Star Wars exhibit when it visited and discovered all the other wonderful regular exhibits they have.
Autumn Marie
Ok, I loved the art and every staff person we encountered was so kind. Too kind? There were so many people in each exhibit that we ended up leaving early as it was impossible to maintain distancing. Staff in every room, I'm not sure why they were not "bouncing." I look forward to visiting post-COVID, and certainly left feeling a little distraught. Given that the museum highlights social and political issues, I guess I was surprised by the lack of respect there.
dan b
Been here many times, always an enjoyable experience. The staff is great. The building itself is even interesting to me. I've always been impressed with the exhibits which change frequently but not too often.
Chelsea Drucker
Literally the best art museum in the region. Always innovative and interesting. This museum continues to progress the artistic conversation in Denver in such a beautiful way! Would definitely recommend as a MUST see in Denver!
Elena Treshcheva
It's more of a gallery with temporary exhibitions than a museum. Very small exposition. Nice rooftop terrace though.
Ximena Ramirez
Beautiful museum, innovation and creativity start as soon as you walk through the door. (the hallway into the museum is a work of art in itself)
Prices are really good and I am thankful for the military rate.
Rooftop coffee and bar had amazing views, I enjoyed a charcuterie appetizer.
Staff was above and beyond attentive and kind when I lost my parking pass. Cant wait to bring out of town guest here.
Jeremy T Brown
Very nice art exhibits.
Kyle Singer
Amazing place full of great art that is supee easy and cheap to view. If you are and artist visit their website to get a free membership to the museum. I saw the tara dovan show and this building gave her an amazing platform to build such a breath taking exhibition of magically changed mundane materials
Libby Nicholaou
Very friendly staff, thought provoking exhibits. Nice rooftop space to relax and enjoy a cold beverage. Overall small museum with only a little bit to see.
Andy Sheldon
Incredible exhibit on the images and sounds of the American South. Sorry if you missed it!
Amber Dutton
Great collection of unique pieces. I loved how interactive most of the exhibits are.
The Highlight is ending your tour at the Rooftop Bar with a coffee or beer. I sat at the rooftop for quite a while and it was lovely.
Lachlan Briggs
The museum of contemporary arts in Denver is host to some fabulous works of art and some amazing opportunities for students and artists. I've personally had one of my images displayed in the museum itself through one of the teen art programs they offer.
Cory R
A little bit of a smaller museum. The staff are nice. I honestly didn't like what they had on display from the current artists.
adom west
The art doesn't seem to project deep though or skill and embraces a culture which is oppressive through supporting destructive behavior.
BONES
While I wouldn't consider myself an avant garde, the exhibits shown here we're more than I could've ever hoped for. Inspirational and breathtaking artwork with meaning so deep it makes the atmosphere feel introspective and interactive. Great place to go if you need to blow off an hour or so.
Michael Turing
My first time here. The art on display seemed sparse but that is probably understandable as we are in the middle of the pandemic. But everyone we interacted with was very polite and the cafe was nice.
Seth Peterson
My favorite museum in Denver. I missed it during the pandemic and now that it's back, it's a great place to go. Always have some really interesting artists and artwork and can't say I've ever been let down. Go to the rooftop and you'll see some really cool things too
Allen Gilliam
Modern art is not my cup of tea but this museum made me look at it differently, relax a little and most importantly enjoy something outside my normal activities!
Brian Montana
Exhibits focused on abstract and representational painting. The loaning of pieces is interesting, close to library approach.
Val
Fun, rotating art exhibits, featuring modern but still relatable pieces. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone, particularly if you are not the type who traditionally visits art museums as you will likely be pleasantly surprised. (The only warning I will give is the cafe upstairs is very strongly oriented around alcoholic drinks so I would not not advise coming expecting to get something to eat while there, but luckily the surrounding area is fully of tasty food trucks and cafes if you want to get a meal while out.)
Lily
Small but thoughtfully museum. I know this artist Tara Donovan all because MOC Art Denver, such amazing exhibition and must see! Love the rooftop view too;)
Josh Diller
Very affordable to visit, not very large, but highly enjoyable exhibits.
Jay Dokken
Excellent curation. Uplifting space. Great way to spend a free afternoon.
M.E. Francis
Great little museum! Can see it all in about two hours and have time to hang on the roof deck. Lovely drinks and atmosphere up there.
Jackson Brooks
Going here is a real gamble. And I want to stress that I will be back. I've had a real good time in the past when there was interesting and wacky art, but this last time I went it was low effort college student type work with an unhealthy fixation on race. Maybe I shouldn't say low-effort. It might have been trying too hard. It was heavy on progressivism, but not in terms of artistic merit. But I'm sure the denver-ites who were there to see the art would disagree. Many people would deny that art could be good or bad these days. Most people going here know what they are getting into. I just like it when it is heavier on aesthetic. Again, I have had more enjoyable times here than otherwise. Consider pairing it with another museum visit and calling ahead to see what they are showing. Progressive seems to have ran out of barriers to break. Aggressively political but very much preaching to the choir.
Edit: I appreciate the response and for treating my view as valid. I recently saw the "Dirty South" exibit and it was again disappointing, but I would never fault the establishment. I didn't follow my own advice to call ahead. I want to emphasize that I have some very good memories here. Maybe just get more art from people that exhibit signs of genuine clinical insanity like you used to? It was interesting to recognize the street on the massive framed display with the music video on the second floor as being in front of the museum in New Orleans. Kinda surreal. I will definitely be returning when there is something universally mind-bending like there has been so often in the past.
T King
Great place tho exhibits are somewhat limited right now. Keith haring murals are cool.
Natasha Rusakova
Nice Contemporary art museum. Not as many exhibitions as expected, but still unique.
Jovan Clark
Relaxed environment. Loved the multi floor layout.
Madalyn Zierke
Really love that Saturday's are free admission, this might be seasonal though, because it's a smaller venue and if the artists are not your favorite or your taste you can go and appreciate their art without worrying about cost. I did not love the artists this time; I think sculpture is more my style. We spent about 45 minutes in the museum and had a nice time sitting on the rooftop afterwards. We parked on little raven st as they have free two hour parking.
Henry B (HenryB)
3 wonderful displays And exhibitions. Well Curated, Excellent notes Accompanying the work of the artists
Archie
it's nice museum but a bit small with not a lot to see but compared to the ticket price that's fine and there is a good view from the roof
Irma Zandl
Intriguing retrospective show currently by Clark Richert and his “droppers” - I loved it.
sattvacat
Beautiful museum! Progressive art pieces, friendly staff and a lovely roof top area.
Lisa Amato
Love the building. The exhibit right now is depressing. Seriously it says. Love is the message and the message is death. Messed with my sunny disposition.
Tom Roberts
Wonderful experience with a great staff. Great variety of art and amazing rooftop views. Great range of art on display. Would recommend
Ed bates
Some of the exhibits weren't working so it took from the experience. Always an interesting and educational place to visit.
Anne Gotimer
Really cool and great variety of art featured. I was lucky enough to be there when they had the Star wars costume exhibit. It was breathtaking to see the costumes but also to see the process that it took to make the actual costumes from textiles to drawings it was really neat.
Myra Nagy
I thought exhibition was excellent. It was very organized.
Rich Shockey
Such a lovely place for a reception. The cafe area afforded a wonderful rooftop summer experience.
Nadja E. Solis
Cute little museum. Is very small, so make sure the exhibition being presented is of interest to you. They have a nice rooftop cafe.
ClaudiasantillAN Santillan
Wonderful place to spend your day and have a beer on the roof top. Support the arts
Paul Curran
Small but well formed. Nice cafe/bar on the roof.
Elise Paulsen (Elysianxx)
Two exhibitions were happening when I was there. I visited both in under an hour. While they were both pretty great, I think the space is underutilized like many other reviewers noted. I really feel like they could have had at least 2 more exhibitions easily in the spaces.
marla kohutek
I visited the second weekend of April 2021, and it was a very charmed day. I had a chance to drive through the river front housing area and I was just amused by the amount of dog walkers and those using electric scooters. I found absolutely perfect parking literally across from the door. I did note that the vast majority of people in attendance were using Uber or Lyft services. I had secured a reservation earlier and I highly recommend that you do so also.
There were three different exhibits open while I was there and I was not particularly attracted to any of them. I did feel like the vast majority of the audience were not particularly attracted to them either. If I had to make a cynical comment.... There were hundreds of us milling about, all trying to be "woke". That said, I really appreciate contemporary art, I like the reflections that has on modern society, and I like the idea of young artists discovering thoughts and ideas for the first time and presenting it to the public.
I like to support local work and I do like traveling shows, and I do like a beautiful building that has use of the city and is nicely designed to be in a constant state of flux. If you're visiting Denver please put this on your schedule it will not take you 90 minutes to view it it only took me 20.
Daniel McGee
MCA has been one of my favorite destinations since first moving to Denver. I make it a point to see ever new exhibit. The attendants/docents are knowledgeable and friendly. The museum does a good job of contextualizing even the most experimental installations, making them fun, engaging, and relevant. I have seen visitors of all ages seeming to interact with and enjoy the art. Museum events, parties, teen art workshops, and the rooftop cafe and gift store make this a special museum. Highly recommend
D
Convenient location, open floor plans & the exhibition on... Voting Rights... is oh so timely.
David Conner
A very worthwhile small museum with skillfully curated exhibits.
Ben Smith
Super great! Came in and it was penny day which was a pleasant surprise! Exhibits were thought provoking and well organized.
Jesus “Mr. J” Lopez
Wasn't what i expected. Great use of a big building. Needs more art. Rooftop is the highlight of the tour.
Alfredo Rodriguez
A bit bare on exhibits but they are still neat never the less
Benzel Jimmerson
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
The ONLY reason that I cannot give it a solid 5 stars is that I would like to see more concentrated use of space. Everything is on the walls. It feels like there is an opportunity to use the middle of the large open spaces for cases containing other genre of contemporary art, like hip hop, spoken word and other types of contemporary "art"....
HOWEVER!!!! The installations that are there, the care and focus placed in each of them (contradicting my previous statement), is nothing less than a powerful experience that will not leave you any time soon. I have found myself thinking back to it; Denver is special - and honestly - largely unexplored... Every exhibit gives you a deep understanding into the minds and souls of the artists and their art.
On top of that the space and the staff are absolutely astounding! Go visit and donate today.
Sara
Wonderful museum, easy to spend a few hours at and the view from the top is nice as well.
Tyler Stewart
So glad it’s now free on the weekends! I reserved my tickets online and it was so easy. The staff is always great here ◡̈
Kelly Bullington
I love this place great spot for unique brunch
Bernice Stubbs
Breathtaking exhibit of light and dark currently. Loved.the experience. Definately a must see.
Tracy Schmidt
This place is all about the exhibits, so check the website before you go.
isaac lee
The experience was short underwhelming. Art is subjective so my rating isn’t based on that. Just a very small space with a lot of under utilized places to incorporate art experiences, and bland architecture. Not on my list of cultural centers to visit in Denver.
Justin James
A little small, but great art work.
lorena bautista
The current exibition is out of this world. Teens get in free but I did have to park in the street.
Jacob Lee
Amazing contemporary art that rotates in and out every few months. One of the most accessible and incredible art museums I've ever been to.
Stella Mandagi
Interesting works of art by Tara Donovan. Worth a visit!
Viola Arduini
Amazing architecture and very interesting exhibitions. Good student discount on the ticket!
Matt Easley
Nice museum of contemporary art. Was impressed with the number of Colorado artists that were presented. Good coffee shop / cocktail bar on the roof. Just note this is contemporary art and not modern. Beautiful building.
William Bruneau
Love the rooftop cafe. Other than the lack of parking spots, well recommended.
Hasina R
Need more exposition
Kevin Cost
Very cool place that shows the true colors of America’s past.
Kacper Jarecki
I really enjoy this museum. They have a nice collection. I love the rooftop. It's fun just to sit there and watch the world go by. This pace has three floors of art, and a modest gift shop. Definitely worth checking out. It's pretty small, so just relax and enjoy.
B Local
$8 is a steal for this amazing art occupying such an amazing gallery space.
Nick Wong
Pretty decent museum, but it is on the smaller side of things with only 4 floors of galleries (about 3 to 5 rooms per floor). During my visit the basement was closed and each floor hosted it's own exhibit so there wasn't a ton of variety at the time. Still very interesting and the architecture of the building is unique. Do check out the top floor on a good day as it is a roof top cafe with some decent views and nice mixed used to show off the materials that the building is made of!
Robert Hutmacher
They do a great job showcasing local artists and allowing them to provide context to their works. The space itself is great, and the rooftop bar is a wonderful place to have a good glass of wine and discuss of what you've seen while looking at more spectacular scenery.
Christopher Scott
Amazing place with a truly innovative approach. I highly recommend this museum. It's a great experience, and they have an art library. You can take a piece of art home! Seriously!
Denver Reviews
Absolute favorite museum in Denver. Love all the exhibitions they get here I became a member here because it’s so reasonable and totally worth it!! Their “rooftop” bar is also a lot of fun, especially in summer. I love this place, never have a complaint. Staff is also always very very friendly and extremely helpful.
David Montemayor
Great use of space. You may need to wait a few minutes to enter a specific portion of exhibit(s) -- but this really isn't any different than pre-covid. Furthermore, wherever possible, there's pathways to bypass areas with a wait if you're needing to fly through. Everyone was polite and considerate.
Jaime Fantauzzi
Very beautiful architecture. Art is highlighted with the architecture of space. The galleries impress with the use of natural light and shadows that make art an expression of high quality. The staff helped me understand the transitions of the spaces and the complexity of the works in the museum. The cafe with its balcony around invites you to enjoy a good light lunch in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Absolutely is a space that you should not miss in the next visit to Denver.
Jayson Monterroso
Great place as a tourist, I really enjoyed the visit, a must see place for tourists in Denver,
Spencer
What an incredible place to visit and it’s a Free Place to go in Denver. On the weekend it’s now FREE. They change exhibits all the time and it never disappoints. I’m a huge history and museum buff and for the size it’s truly incredible. I didn’t mind paying but, it’s a great place for a day date and something todo during these times instead of just sitting at home. The roof top is one of the best in the city. There is nothing better than sitting outside in the middle of the city.
Nicky Visconti
Nice art museum ! A little crowded but they have lockers for your coats which is really nice. They also provide fold up seats and sketching paper so you can try and draw your favorite pieces. Cool experience, but definitely have been to more captivating museums.
Nemo here
This building has unique architecture, light and airy, and with a special paneling system designed for letting light inside while maintaining ita sleek exterior. The space is dynamic, able to hold its own presence while embodyig the energy of the curations inside. There is a wait for some exhibits, as gallery capacities are limited for the virus. Exhibits are updated fairly often, so grab a pass and enjoy frequently. Don't miss the upper deck with city views.
Stephan L K
We visited Aurora over the holidays and decided to visit MCA today. We thoroughly enjoyed the Tara Donovan Fieldwork exhibition.
Haley T
I love this museum. If you’re a local or a native it’s worth checking out! And they change up their features pretty often. Affordable, great art, love it!
Lisa Lujan
Not much art, I think we got through the whole thing in 15 minutes. I also felt super uncomfortable, as if I was not welcome; this may have been because I had my kids with me. This is not, in my opinion, a child friendly museum at all and I would recommend leaving school age children and below at home. Great rooftop though and reasonably priced admission. Still, I personally prefer the Denver Art Museum which does a great job of making children feel like art is for them too, has more to look at and is very welcoming. Perhaps it just depends on the type of experience you’re looking for.
Nick Magles
Though small and a bit bare, the content was great. I'm not a big modern art person, but the Tara Donovan Fieldwork exhibition managed to bring a real sense of life to very basic materials. I was also very impressed by the creativity on display in the room showcasing art by local highschool students. The museum also has a nice rooftop deck and cafe.
Soledad Anda
A cozy museum, functional design building, nice city views and great art exposition
Robert Klanfer
Rather small space, easily covered in one hour. There does not seem to be a permanent exhibit but a series of temporary shows. While some of what was there was interesting I was hoping for more.
David Hassoun
I really enjoyed their show opening event. Did the vip thing and was great for drinks and hanging out before things got busy. The rooftop is the best and the shows are generally very good. For mixing things up with modern and contemporary art this is some of the best Denver has to offer. They also do some amazing albeit sometimes pricey special events.
Melissa Skrbic-Huss
Perfect for a Friday night date since admission is only $5 after 5pm (they are open until 9pm most Friday nights). Additionally their staff is super friendly and love talking about art and current exhibitions. Not all exhibits are family friendly, however they do have a great kids area on the third floor.
Leslie Gutierrez-Madera
It is truly a great way to discover new artist. There is so much story behind every artist & the Museum of Contemporary Arts really allows for that story to be shown. I enjoy going every three months to see the new art that they decide to display. Truly an amazing place.
Vanessa Aves
It seemed very clean and sterilized, everyone was wearing a mask and they were only letting a certain number of people in, so I never got nervous about Covid. The collection of art was pretty impressive. I didn’t know any of the artists so that was good. I like being exposed to new art. I kind of wish there was a diversity of theme but all in all it was really great.
Jace Kendrick
The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver is Amazing! Excellent art selection and perfect for a special gift. Good quality service and reasonable prices. The location is easy, no problem with the parking lot. By the way, this place is family friendly.
Thu H
This museum is really nice. Located right off of 15th street, parking can be tricky here. I'd highly advise parking in two or one hour parking a little further away. Also, the first of the month on Saturdays you get to come here for one penny! What a deal! I always go on Saturdays because it's a quick museum trip anyway. They have limited things to see here and it doesn't take more then an hour, max two, to see it all. There's also an awesome rooftop cafe that serves beverages and snacks. It's great on a nice day to sit outside and catch some rays.
Marceleno Diaz
Truly one of my favorite museums in Denver. It features 3 floors with 3 different artists. Each floor is dedicated to one artist. The exhibits change about quarterly so there’s usually always something new. This museum features great contemporary art that speaks to current and past pop culture and more importantly political commentary. Truly a great space. Also features a beautiful top floor bar that can be rented with a huge encompassing porch featuring views of downtown Denver.
Rei Rei
I have been here when there were some really cool art displays. The major one going on now is more of a historical recount of an American family from the early 1900's. Pretty boring and not really art to me. It would be better off in a different place....I'm kind of sad that it has a longer display time of 6 months compared to the average of 3 months. I believe they'd be better off having visitors vote on the art or have some sort of survey discussing the art before leaving. That way, the rotation of art is displayed at a more appropriate period of time. Just an opinion. The upper level is always a nice insight on local youth's reality and perception of art. I believe it is the best display usually.
M. Bevis
Is a very well curated and taken care of Museum. The Rooftop viewing gallery and Cafe are great as well. The staff are very courteous and will answer any questions that you have. I look forward to attending many more exhibitions here.
Justin Williams
Well maintained museum, very pleasant staff, but the exhibits were rather underwhelming - nothing really was controversial/avant garde. Did really appreciate and respect the highlighting of local black artists. Very cool
Calvin Stara
Awesome collection when we visited: April 2022. Next time we're in town I hope to see an equally good series of art.
Cathleen Merenda
We just visited this exceptional museum. The three exhibits were thoughtful and provocative and each integrated well with the others.
As with all good museums, the art left us reflecting on broad issues that permeate our culture. It was indeed a "contemporary" museum and it left me respecting the art community in the progressive and admirable city of Denver.
Trevor James
Please go here! Such a great afternoon! If you’re a Denver resident, you can get a free pass for 2 from the library!
They have 3 floors worth of artwork, plus a beautiful patio. I really recommend going here!
Laurence A. Freeman
My first visit here, it is a great museum for people who really like modern art. Whilst it is not a big building (compared to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science) it is well planned out. The location is near Union Station and that should be a first choice of traveling to this museum, street parking around this location is not plentiful and the parking lots are expensive.
HollyAnne G
A small museum with an interesting selection of changing exhibits that appeal to a variety of tastes. The rooftop cafe has a nice ambiance and view. We wished the docents had been more knowledge about the art.
Ashley DiRuggiero
Great exhibits with local CO artists. Amazing rooftop with incredible views of downtown. Great museum for contemporary art, very different from DAM.
Wendy Day
The rooftop cafe had some cool choices but the service was unbearably slow. Especially considering I paid $8 to park and $8 to get into the museum—all to eat quite good hummus for $8 at the cafe that took 30 min to arrive on my table (one other customer in the cafe who ordered a salad who was extremely annoyed and went to check on her food twice). My goal was to have lunch and see the view from the roof that the travel mags mentioned. There is no view. All of the surrounding buildings are taller.
Corey Scott
There's almost always something funky and interesting on exhibit. Sometimes it's stuff a little more controversial, subversive or naughty than you're likely to find at a more traditional place like say the Denver Art Museum, and I've seen lots of installations with interactive or audio and video components. The entrance and architecture alone are worth checking out if you've not been. It's a great addition to a day exploring downtown.
Iblame Summers
Very great contemporary art museum in Denver. Stoned & Flabbergasted...
Bich Ngo
I am just interesting with BASQUIAT because of art in his notebook.
Professor Darius
Bruh these "artists" really getting famous out here for nothing more than painting some basic shapes. It was pretty aight, the place was really well kept. Additionally, the staff was neither too lenient in a sense that nobody was acting up, but not so strict that they took away from the experience of the museum itself. I booled here pretty hard for a while, and there are plenty of nice places to eat nearby if you're craving more than just the contemporary art they have to offer on any of the 4 floors of the museum. If you bring too much stuff, they even have lockers that only cost a quarter to store your plentiful belongings. I have nothing bad to say about this art museum except maybe expand the amount of art present, which isn't really feasible, so I understand. Basically just a nice place as long as you aren't bringing any children.
Elise White
Excellent museum with wonderful and enthusiastic staff. Current exhibit Citizenship: A Practice of Society is incredible. The rooftop cafe is a gem, as is the gift shop. MCA Denver is handling COVID protocols so that visitors feel welcome and safe. Very worth the visit!
Amy Alleman
I love visiting this museum so very much. The layout is easy to navigate; the staff is super helpful; the museum store is the perfect place to find a special gift. And did I mention the rooftop cafe? Spectacular!
Matt Nemetz
Came in for one of the Friday Tours and will be back ASAP. We were on a tight schedule and weren’t able to stick around for long after the tour. There is so much more to explore. The tour guide gave an amazing perspective and point of view.
Jacob
A very nice modern museum. There are rotating exhibits which make it worthwhile to come back. The first Saturdays of every month is Penny Saturday where admission is just one cent. The rooftop cafe offers nice views of downtown and a welcoming space to grab a drink and relax.
Kay Dunaway
The art was great. There just wasn't enough of it. I was a little disappointed that we saw everything in about an hour. We looked at everything very closely so we definitely weren't rushing. Not worth the $8 admission cost plus cost of parking. I would definitely go again if they added more art.
D Evergreen
The entire museum is currently dedicated to Tara Donovan but the space overall is not to be missed. All the staff is friendly and the rooftop bar/bistro knocks it out of the park. I'm a huge fan of the layout of the museum itself and will absolutely be returning!
Megan Wilcox
Great museum in downtown Denver! The architecture is cool, and they have rotating exhibits. The exhibit I went to was very fascinating. They also have a library of art, where you can enter to win a piece of art and borrow it for a bit. Interesting program!
James Huang
Thank you MCA for recognizing healthcare workers! We had a wonderful time in this beautiful museum. The layout is very soothing and relaxing. We highly recommend a visit!
Dan Perkins
Great art museum in the heart of Denver. On the first Saturday of the month admission is only 1 cent for Colorado Residents (i.e. it is free)
Ersin Sulukioglu
Great location and space. Exhibits are hit or miss. Staff could definitely use some customer service training. My party walked up to the service desk to purchase admission tickets and WE had to initiate a greeting and conversation with the staff member and she seemed almost bothered that we interrupted her day. Otherwise, good visit.
John Bryant
Neat museum but small. With only 5 or 6 exhibits. They are large but even with a drink upstairs it only takes 1-2 hours to see everything
Joshua Westerman
My favorite institutional art space in Denver! I first came here to see the Tara Donovan show and was really blown away by the work. I appreciate how many of the shows have a strong archival focus
Mark Johnson
I love the MCA. The exhibitions are always changing. I can't say I've loved every show, but I wouldn't want to. Oftentimes the art on display is pretty challenging, and I really appreciate that about this museum. Playing it safe isn't something they seem interested in. They often feature Colorado artists, which is really awesome, alongside heavy hitters from around the world. The building is beautiful, and I'm excited to see how their planned renovations improve the experience.
Fil M
I never appreciated this Museum until I learned about the identity and history of this place. They are super innovative and interactive in all of their events and their exhibitions, though few, are engaging. It gives a great perspective and voice to contemporary artists everywhere.
Jenny Mae Samson
Fantastic rotations of contemporary art. Each of their gallery floors features a different artist or different collective with every feature. The staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. I always enjoy my time here, and usually finish off a visit with a drink from their delightful café on the roof.
Chris Calvey
Great Modern Art Museum! Small enough that you don't get too overwhelmed with options - you could see the whole thing in about 2 hours. (But come back for more as the galleries change, of course!). Don't forget to check out the cool rooftop patio.
Tana W.
The museum exhibits were interesting, but one of the guys at the front desk was very rude and couldn't say my name right even though we told him it 3-4 times. The rooftop cafe had a nice selection on espresso beverages, alcoholic beverages, and sweet treats.
Alice McMillan
A MUST-VISIT in Denver! Great staff who were just as interested in the art as we were and knowledgeable about the artists, too! I could spend the whole day here. Great little cafe up top. Had some tea and cupcakes of course - SOOO GOOOOOD!! And the area surrounding has amazing choices for food, cocktails, and entertainment.
Chris Yoder
Great museum! Highly recommend!
Jake Zwerdlinger
Absolutley amazing way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Ended up leaving a member!
Cory Sanger
A great immersive space for thought-provoking contemporary art! The staff is so friendly and warm and the shows they represent take you through the full spectrum of emotions. Space Elevate you and your perception of the city around you. They have wonderfully eclectic events I always feel like it's an art Escape within the city
Stephen Webb
I have been several times, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it each time. As for the reviewers saying there was nothing to see - that's a shame and that hasn't been my experience. I can't say it has been fully populated with exhibits, but there has always been enough to keep me engaged for the duration of my visit. Always something new - always interesting.
John Rowe
The Tara Donavan exhibit was amazing!
Eric Green
Great exhibits, and even greater architecture, however, small size reduces the amount of exhibits. Overall experience was fantastic and I recommend checking out the custom earrings and buckles made of skateboards in the gift shop, so rad.
Bryce Smith
Walking through the front door makes you feel like you're walking into a secret lair. The museum didn't have as much on display as I was expecting, but I still enjoyed my time there. Cool rooftop bar.
Jessica Herren
Nice museum with interesting exhibitions. I left feeling inspired to draw something special. If you love the artwork and would like to support the art in Denver, you should definitely visit this place.
Christian B
A unique collection of contemporary art is housed in this three story building. When I went it was sparse but interesting nonetheless. If you never been to the MCA I recommend going at least once, they have different showcases every few months and the first Saturday of every month is called penny day since they only charge an admission price of $0.01 on that day for Colorado residents. Worth checking out!
Victoria Vdovich
This museum is exceptional. It is easy to navigate. The exhibits are interesting as well. Make sure you grab a pamphlet if you want to learn more about the artists and the art work.
Gabryella Pulsinelli
I was on a 12 hour layover in Denver and decided to get out of the airport and come see some art. Not only was their a great amount of art on display but also there a was a nice little cafe and bar on the top floor. There was a patio outside you could go sit outside and view downtown Denver. The drink was awesome and very instagramable and the the caprese tower was amazing. When I go visit Denver again I will be back.
J D
Cheap price for entry with a large space. Targets a very unique brand of artist that may not be your cup of tea, but for the price it's worth the risk. We spent two hours browsing.
Eugene DeMayo
We enjoyed the Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit and a few of the local artists showing but many of the other artists work didn't really fit in well. Nice to building and hard to find parking.
Ronald J Wells
One of those institutions were it seems to be a lot more about the building than what's actually being shown. The Basquiat exhibit was okay but nothing mind-blowing. I will say that the exhibit going on on the third floor at the time with interesting but only because I found friends of mine in the Polaroid images being exhibited hahaha. I will re review it the next time I return in a couple of years.
desiree selman
We had a wonderful time. We received our complimentary passes thanks to your local Denver library check it out. My son and I went had a good, time to talk about which painting we like to each room. He is 8
Oliver Manalac
Good way to kills a couple of hours. Really enjoyed sitting at the Soundscape area.
Mariana Schnell
This small museum is well worth a visit. Artists with a Denver connection on the day we visited. Make sure to get to the third floor and visit the rooftop and cafe.
Marcus J Carter
Very interesting art mostly made from items that one may expect to find in the trash. Great vision.
Seth Moyers
I love modern and contemporary art so this full gallery exhibition was wonderful to have during my visit to Denver. I urge everyone to spend some time here and consider the weight of the pieces. They mean more now more than ever.
alyson goodman
I enjoy the MCA and am there often- seeing an exhibit for the third or fourth time is just as good as the first. Their front desk staff can be a little surly in an art-student sort of way but frankly that’s part of the experience. Wouldn’t change a thing.
Patrick MacLean
Was less art than expected, but a great experience still.
Justin Nix
Tourists are free on Saturdays. 3 levels of art and a great little rooftop bar and cafe.
Corinne Anderson
Definitely worth visiting for a few hours - for visitors or locals. Contemporary art that is often on the cutting-edge of the field. Make sure to head to the roof cafe (in good weather) for a cool view of the city.
Jose R
I love the MCA. It’s a delightfully small museum. I went to the rooftop bar and ordered some wine. The bartender was serving some WAP — weak a*s pours — hence, three stars.
Jackie Marler (Herren)
Enjoyed the museum and the Keith Haring exhibit. Also, the cafe/bar on the roof had the best Moscow Mule that I’ve had in Denver.
Divya Kapuria
It's a very small museum with not as many works.
Emily H
Frequently rotating exhibits, interesting programming, and fun events. The Octopus Initiative is such a cool program, and I recommend signing up! I also appreciate that the MCA offers different membership structures as well as penny admission days so that the museum is truly accessible.
Kevin Bond
Beautiful contemporary art museum. Made my trip to Denver very memorable. Saw three exhibits that I will never forget. Not to over whelming and large like some museums.
Alex DT
Small but great museum
Michelle S.
I attended a wedding reception. It was fabulous!
Valerie Perez
Loved the museum. Some amazing exhibits at the moment. Definitely recommend the Arthur Jafar exhibit very moving and powerful. Sit and watch his talking session about his art, it's very eye opening and insightful.
Amber Blais
You'll always find something here that will at the most touch your soul and at the least start a conversation. They are super supportive of artists and have some awesome after hours programs. The rooftop is one of the coolest places in Denver and is the perfect place to grab a glass of wine and chill.
s a
I enjoy it every time. The exhibitions are usually very interesting and well done. The staff are helpful and friendly. Rooftop cafe is delightful and completes the experience.
Daniel Rahe
This is my new afternoon hang out! So peaceful!
Gifty A
I got to perform at a story telling event here called 1-2-kazoo. It was as amazing as it sounds. One of the things I love about MCA Denver are their events. They are unique and a perfect segue to experiencing and appreciating contemporary art.
Sam Waters
Honey exhibit was amazing, I loved the different aspects and as always enjoyed a cocktail on the roof while watch the sunset. I just wish the museum was larger but it’s amazing and I need more
Brian Williams
I would highly recommend going while the tara donovan exhibit is still on display. Wonderful art year round and the building is an architectural masterpiece. One of the best experiences Denver has to offer!
Lindann Miller
It's a great museum space. The changing exhibits make new experiences frequent. The top floor cafe/bar makes a wicked good hot toddy.
Annalee Pickett
Wow! This little gem of a museum has its finger on the art pulse of Denver. Check out the Octopus project and get involved with local art and artists. Smaller, not as stuffy, and less children than the Denver art museum! So worth finding parking.
Tonée Viera
Great museum that is literally always changing out exhibits. The community events are on point and the teens area is very quirky. Side note, cafe is a bit expensive and parking can suck.
N C
The subject matter of this museum is interesting. It was not at all what I expected. The facility itself was fantastic, large an open with quite people respecting the art. As I mentioned the subject matter was just not something I wanted to pay to see.
Ulysses Homer
I like modern art so I enjoyed my experience. I needed a reservation but was able to get one within an hour. I recommend checking if you need a reservation.
Ginger Loggins
I wanted to check out an art museum while I'm Denver. I imagine this was much more interesting than the main art museum, and I'm glad I saw the exhibits. However, it was much smaller than I expected. Only three exhibits: a short film and two painting collections.
Ethan Bak
Never been to an art museum. Was impressed! Very glad I went!
Mike Caskey
Love the art here. Nice size too
Jeremiah Saldana (Jeremy)
Beautiful exhibits, awesome museum!
Paul Brock
Front desk staff if kind of mean, but the workers inside are very friendly and open to explaining things and talking with you. I kind of expected more than just five or six exhibits though, some have been there for quite a while.
Sarah
We love this quirky art museum with ever changing exhibits, often featuring local artists. They also offer a one cent bargain entrance on the first Saturday of every month.
Cristina Saavedra
Truly great collection. A must see. Be ready to climb stairs.
Something cute that happened...proposal was set up on the roof of the museum. Stuntin is a habit. Get like this museum. #prepforthesteps
Sarah Hopp
Small, easy to see everything in an hour, and free for locals! Rooftop cafe that serves alcoholic drinks and snacks. Really enjoyed our visit!
Claire G
Beautiful architecture. I loved the pieces we saw in the museum and thought it had a great variety/spread, as well as, thought provoking pieces. Top of the line contemporary museum.
TK Adventure
It’s beautiful museum of art.
Tristen Cordova
Always a good time at the MCA!!
Brian Litts
Great installations. The bar on the top floor is great to start and make your way down.
A good 1 hour getaway.
D B
We were very underwhelmed by it. Exhibits with important messages but very little to see. Ladies at the front desk super friendly.
Robert Fox
Denver's contemporary art museum has gone from a renovated fish market to a stunning building designed by starchitect David Adjaye. The exhibits don't always match the quality of the exhibition space, but are always provocative. There are five galleries on two floors plus a basement installation space, education spaces, a small store, a library, and a rooftop cafe and deck with great views of lower downtown. Cutting-edge exhibits of the latest contemporary art feature regional, national, and international artists.
Cuyler Cameron
A fantastic piece of architecture with lots of natural light. Lots of changing exhibitions with thought provoking contemporary art. The roof top is a fantastic city hang-out spot with a bar and appetizers. A hidden gem of Denver.
Sally Long
I think it is one of the best Meuseum I have ever visited.
Meredith Rowe
Great COVID activity! They’ve limited guests in the building and in each part of the exhibit. I’ll definitely come back for the next artist
Lisa Rupert
What a cool place, great Georgia O'Keefe exhibit and layers of intriguing and thought provoking art. The cafe has live music, a wonderful surprise for us, try it!
Ramona Kimmett
The O'Keefe exhibit was great and the tattoo artist. The location was really hard to get to on foot though if you miss one turn you really have to go a long ways around the train tracks.
Alan Loo
A great museum for Contemporary Art. I went an viewed the Art work of Devo Band Member. Great exhibit on his art outside of the band. A nice place with a restaurant with stunning views of the city tucked in the middle of downtown.
Alison Dorr
Small but, worth the visit. Excellent staff.
Jim Finster
This place is simply great. Always met by friendly and engaging staff. Fearless and challenging exhibits are the norm. Oh, and did I mention that admission is really affordable?
Linda Byrd
The art was ho hum. Music in the background was obnoxious. Glad it wasn't more the $7 to get in. The teen art was really terrific though.
Miss Ann Thropik
Finding parking was rough because of all of the construction. Once we did, we ended spending maybe 45 minutes there, including watching a video that lasted 20min. Perhaps it was the exhibit we saw but it was, overall, underwhelming.
Mark McElroy
This small gem houses thought-provoking works in a soaring space, topped with a comfortable rooftop cafe/bar. The result? Good views inside and out, especially on those rare clear, sunny Denver days. We're still talking about Brian Bress' bizarre "Make Your Own Friends" exhibit and Arne Svenson's controversial "The Neighbors." Arrive just after opening, and you may have the entire place to yourself, which we did -- and loved it.
Becky Bennett
The current exhibit by Nari Ward Is breath-taking, thought provoking, educational and inspirational. you should make time to go if possible, definitely for teenagers on up.
Profane Carpenter
It’s not large but makes up for it in heart. Very well payed out museum, great place to take an hour to appreciate the contemporary scene.
Jacobo Camelo Herrera
Great expos, and the idea of supporting local artist is awesome.
Ross Smith
One of my favorite spots in Denver. The rotating exhibits are always excellent and though provoking, the gift shop has unique wares of all prices, and the rooftop cafe needs no explanation!
Steven Nielson
Brilliant selection of contemporary art from various artists, the building itself is breathtaking with stellar views from the roof. If you live near Denver and are a modern art fan you can't afford to miss it.
Jose Adrian
Emon Ore-Giron show its amazing¡¡
Brett Lehr
I enjoyed spending a couple hours here and reading/looking through the various exhibits. Definitely worth a trip to if you're in the area.
Mackenzie McGee
No permanent collection - instead, they have several visiting collections. It’s not huge, but it’s very reasonably priced. It’s a great, cutting-edge addition to a Denver museum day.
Benjamin Fedorko
Radically left leaning throughout, full of political and social exhibits, not much emotional art, not what I was expecting.
Andrew Clark
i've donated to this museum for years; it's a great institution and brings in a cool crowd of hipster art-gorpers to see some interesting modern work which you won't find elsewhere in denver. however, every now and again, they show something which borders on the disgusting/obscene and tarnishes the experience. i guess that's the risk of visiting a modern art museum today, but to my eye (and definitely to my kids' eyes), it's garbage and we don't need to be reminded to "discuss and appreciate art in all its forms" when the form is offensive. let's leave obscenity where it belongs: internet chat rooms for the depraved and lonely. let's celebrate beauty, kindness and love, and show great art which supports a healthy society, not teaches it to tolerate filth as though it is something worthwhile.
asa
You can bring your cameras but no flash. And no filming/photos on the second floor. They have a cafe/bar with outdoor seating on the third floor.
Martiya Johnson
Absolutely Beautiful! Check the installation to see what artist is exhibiting currently.
Ethan Colorado
got suspended for skipping class and hopping on the bus for the field trip to this place. TOTALLY WORTH IT. the staff was so nice when i had to be supervised by them. just quality people who love art
Laura Pintar
Mind art installations, and unexpectedly, beautiful food too! Who knew? I do now!
Jordan L
Convenient parking nearby, modern interior with gift shop, restrooms and lockers available. Rooftop cafe has great views of downtown and offers coffee and alcoholic beverages.
gayle mcgahee
really friendly staff and great exhibits. I really had a great time and learned alot from the displays
Ian Cerveny
Never disappointed by MCA. Always fresh, well curated exhibits that work hard to tell a story through art. Best museum/gallery experience in Denver.
Cary Garcia
Beautiful location, beautiful art, kind and helpful employees
A. Garcia
Beautiful place. Kind and welcoming staff. Highly affordable. Great atmosphere in the cafe to just reflect and enjoy a cocktail after seeing some wonderful art.
Eva Wood (sissyfagevan)
Innovative layout and design, inspirational in thought! Very nice rooftop Cafe, a great place to explore with a friend!
ramon wong
Friendly staff and clean surroundings, not very impressed with the exhibits at all, gave me the impression that poor research of artist and their craft is vital,a city like Denver should get serious on how to stage contents, they can do better.
Amelia Shekitka
Interesting museum, interesting exhibits. And the cafe is a comfortable place to relax and enjoy some of the very tasty drinks! 🤠 …
Gage Chapel
I am a member of the MCA. I love the rooftop cafeb which is one of my fav spots in Denver. I'm sometimes mixed on the exhibits, doesn't always feel the art matches the amazing space.
Jill Gould
Always great exhibits
Jessica Salomon
Really well done exhibits in an inexpensive museum with a fabulous rooftop! I love taking visitors here when they want to explore something downtown.
Colin Dart
what an important asset to the art community and overall culture of Downtown Denver. Great rotating exhibits. Love the rooftop patio / bar!
mari-janelle
Creative oddities and artistic happenings - discounted parking with validation 😂 …
Andrew Nelson
There floors of related exhibits, taken in order, to weave a sort of story between individual artists. Cool place in general to with a nice rooftop place to chill
Charles Davis
As much as I enjoyed the art, I even more enjoyed the architecture of the building. The space was inspiring. It was a great addition to our weekend vacation in Denver.
Tigh Loughhead
I lovely modern artifice in the middle of Denver – I just wish every single exhibition wasn’t so blatantly political; there was a complete absence of aesthetic sensibility apart from the architecture; only issues inside.
Melissa Lohmann
There are some interesting exhibits and there are some overrated ones. But it’s all art so you can decide for yourself. The place is smaller than I expected. They have some funny cards in the store.
William Edwards
Really awesome art space, great exhibit when I was there and the cafe on the roof was quaint and they had music too!
Jason Arment
An amazing place that is cool enough to give out free passes to local artists. They put on huge events that are well attended, and the art they hang and show is always top notch.
Ritesh Keskar
Fun place to walk around at.
Ary van Baalen
If you are in Denver it is worth visiting this museum. It is a beautiful building. Moreover, there is ample attention for young emerging artists from the wider region.
Gwendolyn Stanley
Beautiful museum, but it takes less than an hour to see everything. Not really a day trip.
Darth Vlader
Vibrant local art featured. Rolling exhibits. Rooftop cafe offers views of downtown.
April H

Its really small. I wanna say there are like 5 exhibits. I myself wasn't impressed with really any of them, but people in my group found value in some of them.
Morgan Scheuerman
A small but engaging museum. I went on the day they only charged CO residents a penny to get in so it was definitely worth it.

Part of the exposition was closed, so we did not pay; the pieces of art were interesting, but I am not an expert in the matter, also a bit puzzling like a movie of a woman covered by honey...
