Such an amazing place to visit we didn't get to finish the whole ship. But plan to go back for a guided tour. Did a self tour which is amazing among itself. Such great history and memories. You can see it in the eyes of all the older gentlemen who are their to answer questions and speak about the ship. We even got the amazing opportunity to watch them fire the 5 inch guns which was such a great experience and they are so concerned for the younger generation not being to close with it being loud but was amazing

Always wanted to go. Finally went! My friend and I took the main tour route. We saw a lot, but there is much more to see. I highly recommend a curators tour. It is pricey, but I figure it'll be well worth the experience. All the museum staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. Can't wait to go again.
Anthony O'Connell-Gros
Absolutely great experience! Many different routes allow you to see a lot and separate people. This means that it is never really overcrowded. One can easily spend 4 hours on the ship and so much is open to the public. Of course so parts are closed for renovation and what not.
Adam Nichols
We had a wonderful self-guided tour of the Battleship New Jersey today and a guided tour of the engine and ammunition areas. The staff was very helpful and friendly! There was no crowd at all (taking the tour) besides us 2, so we basically had the ship to ourselves. We spent about 2-1/2 hours exploring it at an up-tempo pace, but easily could have spent another hour exploring - if we had allowed ourselves more time between destinations. I highly recommend visiting the Battleship New Jersey if ever you're in the Camden, NJ area. Thank you!

Best part of the trip! It took me hours to go through the whole thing! Filled with so much history, for 25$ it’s definitely worth the visit. It’s a bit hard to navigate but they have Red,Blue, and Yellow lines guiding you through the whole place, if you love history you are sure to love this!

Very cool historical battleship. Really gives you a appreciation for the men and woman who sacrificed and still sacrifice thier lives to protect our country. This ship is amazing from Bow to stern top to bottom. I loved being able to see the entire ship inside and out and see what it was like to be in a beast like this. 👍 great war time museum 👏 I highly recommend.

We had a wonderful experience here. We were here for approximately 3 hours from start to finish then the gift shop. There was a gentleman at the beginning that gave us a brief history and then we were off. Be prepared for climbing, tight spaces and a lot of walking. Just an amazing bit of history with a story well told if you take the time to read the information. If you have the time they are getting ready to take apart the JFK air craft carrier and it is docked very close to there, where you can see it up close before this treasure is lost.

This is an amazing must-see battleship! The history of it is so cool as the most decorated battleship in the Navy. Make sure you take the ferry over from philly which was a lot of fun.
My wife is claustrophobic and she didn't mind doing the whole tour as it was quite large throughout the entire ship's interior tour.
Make sure you follow the green line tour first then when you get to the mess hall be sure and follow the red line tour to see where the missiles were fired and how the ship was steered. It was so cool! I highly recommend it 👌 👍

I have seen all capital ships except for the USS Missouri and I have to say that USS New Jersey is the ship I like the most. Sure, it doesn't have all the money San Diego can lavish on the Midway, it doesn't have the fancy recordings of the USS Lexington's dentist's office and it doesn't have a cross section of a gun turret like the USS Alabama but I had the best visit ever here. Few people, I showed up early in the morning and I was the only one basically. The explanatory panels are very well made and you get to visit the entire ship. The ship is so close to Philadelphia and yet so far as it is on the other side of the Delaware River in NJ but if you dare cross the bridge and step into Camden, the ship is absolutely wonderful.
Kelz Breezy
It was such an amazing experience and a wonderful work of art to visit. The museum is currently running a food drive discount program for ticket sales. Bring a can of soup and receive 20%..double check websites for dates. Spent hours touring up and down the ship on all the different self guided colored trails that you can follow, you can easily spend an entire day here. Jim was such a wonderful start to the tour, welcomed us aboard, and provided so much knowledge about the ship when answering history related questions. The biggest and fastest battleship in the world should be a stop on everyone's list!
Paul V
An absolutely amazing visit! The parking situation was not immediately clear, but abundant once found! The staff were ridiculously friendly and the tours were more in depth than I would have thought allowed!
To see the whole thing with tours takes roughly 4-ish hours. Worth every second!
Donald Hower
When you see this Battleship I thought to myself Holy Toledo whomever has invoked this ships potential wrath of justice has quite the reckoning coming there way! The ship is also massive (meaning it could take the majority of the day to traverse)! It's design both complex yet navigable (it's many compartments and areas unique). THE SHIP ALSO HAS A LEGENDARY STORY HAVING BEEN INVOLVED IN SEVERAL INCURSIONS, THIS SHIPS PROVEN TO DEMONSTRATE GRIT AND DURABILITY! The views all around this area are also ASTOUNDING even from ground level.
Bryan Faucher
Well worth the trip if you are a connaisseur, and still a great trip if you are in the area and are just a bit curious.
Of all the museum ships I have visited, this one had the most surface available for visits.
The tour lines were easy to follow and got us through most of the ship. Without them, it would be really easy to get lost in this huge mountain of metal.
All the work that has been put into the restoration of this monster is amazing. It was a marvel to visit. Lots of rare artifacts and attention to details that aren't found on any other ships.
We explored everything available, and it took us almost five hours to do so.
Expect a lot of stairs to climb and narrow places to crawl through if you want to see everything. Especially the turrets.
Adam Green
Best ship museum! Unbelievable amount of the ship is "open" and part of the (multiple) self-guided tour routes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Plan 3+ hours, wear your sneakers, and watch your head. Very well worth a visit.
The Bob
Excellent way to spend anywhere from 2-4 hours. Very well done exhibits teach the history of this national treasure from its predecessors through to the current submarine bearing the same name. The self-guided tour routes are easy to follow so you won't get lost. Wear your most comfortable walking shoes, because you will be doing a lot of walking. Make sure you have plenty of space on your memory card for a lot of pictures.
Paulina Karbowy
Great visit. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. First you take a green route, that takes you around the ship (but not every part), that you eventually finish in the mess. From there you can take one of three next once: red, blue or yellow. Each taking to different parts of the ship. Highly recommend.
Leslie Bogart
I met Ryan Szimanski, their curator! He was a mess, but so natural and friendly! Libbey was truly down to earth and a great conversationalist. BB62 was amazing. I was able to get a challenge coin! The last one! The hubs & I spent 7 hours touring her, and there's only 40% of her open to the public. I would love to have a private tour but wasn't there in a weekend when they're offered.
Ila Singh
Amazing Experience, Must see if you are interested in history. We completed the self guided tour in close to 3hrs and lot of climbing up and going down the stairs was involved. you get to see all the interesting things by following blue, red and green path. I highly recommend visiting Battleship NJ to anyone visiting Philadelphia.
We purchased go city pass from Groupon which included this. No food options or cafe on boat. Carry water bottle.
ujfro 69
We stumbled on this amazing treasure. Touring a battleship was a bucket list item and a passion. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ship is in great shape and the access is unbelievable. We went everywhere, and touched everything. We climbed around freely in a 16" gun turret. We sat where Halsey sat. The views are spectacular. Wonderful treasure.
Caleb Fili
Excellent museum with many many fascinating exhibits. The volunteers and staff do a wonderful job making this educational and fun. The amazing engineering and power of this ship is on full display and it is simply jaw-dropping! Plan for an all day trip here, there's so much to see and the ship seems to go on and on endlessly, with more cool stuff around every corner! Plenty of space for private events and every dollar spent goes to preserve history... Badass history! Check out the YouTube channel as well, or offers a deeper dive into several subjects you won't learn about on the tour!
William Bouchal III
Absolutely loved the tour, great staff. So many interesting people you meet along the way. Had a blast! To see Battleships in pictures is one thing, To see it in person, is a whole different experiance, I will be comming back as much as I can, when I can.
Chris Etzel
Great experience! All staff and tour guides were professional and knowledgeable. I did a self guided tour with my family and had a great time showing them what life was like aboard a US Navy ship. Caution should be exercised when bringing small children as shipboard ladders are steep and traversing thru the passageways have kneeknockers (raised edges between door ways for fire boundaries). My kids enjoyed the views inside and out. Stroller parking is outside the pier entnrance. Plenty of parking lots available within walking distance.

We had a curator tour, last week with Ryan. It was so cool!! We had a group of 7 and honestly the 3 hour tour wasn’t long enough! The tour was a Christmas present to my grandfather with a big surprise at the end of firing mount 56, the 5inch turrent. Was so cool! We got to go to the very top of the ship and all the way to the bottom. Truly appreciate all they do and Ryans hospitality!!
Lisa Williams
We did the curator tour and it was phenomenal. Ryan was knowledgeable and fun during our tour. I would highly recommend taking the curator tour as you get to see areas not on the regular tour.
Alexander
By far the best ship that you can tour, it has option for self guided or fully guided tours.
We went on a self guided tour and spent a good couple hours walking around.
There's a lot of information onboard the ship with plenty of guides on board to give you more information or tell a few stories. Anyone with time to spare in the area should have a look!

I came here on a Monday afternoon in late June 2022. I took the metro from Philly into New Jersey and walked all thr way to the Battleship - would NOT recommend it if it's hot or cold. For me, it was hot. I wish I had taken an Uber from Philly instead of getting lost for 30 minutes and taking another 45 minutes to finally get to the battleship. Don't make the same mistakes I did!
This place was cover under the CityPass which was very convenient for me since I was planning to go to a bunch if Philly's other sites. One thing you MUST do before you go is download the audio guides BEFORE getting there. There was very little reception in that area and once you get below deck the reception was completely blocked. Such a shame because I love guided tours. Guide-led tours only happen on the weekend so those audio guides were all that were available to me.
I've been to the other Battleships in California and Hawaii but this one was way better because it's bigger and more of it is opened to the public. In addition to the audio guided tour, there are 3 additional tours that lead further below deck to where the weapons, dining area, and the medical clinic. What's also interesting is that their toilets are actually running so there are plenty of toilets in operation if you need to go. Also, they have a play area for kids under 3 years old on the ship, which is super thoughtful of them.

This is the museum ship that kicked off my newfound obsession with all museum ships! I travel the whole US for work and everywhere I stay I'm checking for museum ships to visit. Because of the NJ I've visited Midway, Iowa, and Silversides, and I'm sure there will be more in the near future! The NJ is an incredible ship and museum. They have maintained the ship so well, not only is it cool as heck but beautiful too. If you're anywhere nearby, it's DEFINITELY worth checking out and touring. If you want to see everything, give yourself at least 3hrs here to take your time and enjoy everything they have to offer.
Tony S
This is the best ship museum I have ever been on. You will need to put aside 3-4 hours if you want to get through the bare minimum of the self guided tour. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, I can't wait to go back
Melissa Ottaway
Fantastic! This took us 90 minutes and I wish we had more time. It was so interesting to see a real battleship and walk through it. My girls are 7 and 9 and they had a fantastic time.
Frederick Akinkunmi
Wonderful ship, detailed experience. There is a shuttle that takes you from the ferry point to the location of the battleship. There are fine colored markings on the floor to take you on a self-guided tour through all the parts of the ship and
Brett Gissel
A great Navy ship to visit and many parts areas are open to see. Our only complaint is that you cannot bring a bag with you. The person selling the tickets didn't bother telling us and we were turned back by the ticket taker. Since we walked from the train station we didn't have a car to place our bags in. There are free lockers to use, but no directions. The ticket sales people told us that we need to come back to them to unlock the locker and tell them the locker number. They unlock it with no means to verify it is your stuff, it is done on the honor system.
Abe H
Great place to visit when you are in the Philadelphia area. Lots of history on this ship. It’s nicely kept and restored.
On-site parking is available. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff!
Self guided tour is easy to do.
Great for kids and teenagers. Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours.
Eytan Yadlovker
I wish I could give it more stars, maybe one for each battle star. Great ship full of history and an amazing museum. I highly recommend!
Jeff Leine
Did the sleep over. Wonderful guided tour. They take you deep into the ship. Places they actually cut paths to so visitors can see them. Food was not the best, but every thing else was very interesting.
Anirudh Pillai
Amazing Experience, Must see if you are interested in history or navy. We couldn't do guided tour but self guided tour wasn't bad either. Except to spend 1.5 - 2 hrs minimum if you want to cover everything. I would recommend doing green, blue path at minimum and will involve climbing and going down lot of stairs but you get to see all the interesting things. I highly recommend visiting Battleship NJ to anyone visiting Philadelphia including kids.

I've had the distinct privilege of visiting all four of the Iowa-class battleships with the USS New Jersey being the last one I had the chance to go to. Battleships have always fascinated me since I was a kid and ironically the "Big J" was my favorite one of all but I visited the Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin before I could make my way to Camden for the New Jersey. Now that I've been able to see her for real she remains my favorite battleship but now she's also my favorite museum ship - even among her sisters.
First reason for that is the sheer amount of the ship they let you tour freely. While the other three pretty much have similar areas open to regular tours - mainly the bridge areas, main deck, crew berths and mess - many areas remained closed off with you only being able to peek into some of the most fascinating areas like the admiral's and captain's staterooms, the turret interiors, and the CIC (assuming you could look in at all). On the New Jersey you could climb up directly inside Turret 2 right from the start of the tour (for comparison, you can pop your head into the Turret 2 hatch on Wisconsin but you can't climb inside). You could even fiddle with the periscope inside! Later on you can wander through the Admiral's, Captain's, and XO's staterooms - areas on the other Iowas that were pretty much closed off to tours (IIRC on the Missouri you could only peek into the Admiral's quarters though a closed porthole). The CIC and ops rooms also had working displays instead of being dormant. Want to go in a 5-inch gun? Go ahead on the New Jersey! Can't do that on the Iowa or the other sisters! If you're willing to do the walking you can also peek in the engine room, the anchor windlass compartment, and even relieve yourself on board in one of the ship's heads! How's that for being friendly to visitors?
Second reason are the wonderful exhibits on board. USS Wisconsin has the advantage of having the excellent Nauticus museum beside it to provide exhibit space but the New Jersey, Iowa, and Missouri pretty much stand alone. Big J does have a small office building before you enter the ship but it just has a cafe, ticket office, and restrooms - not the massive three-story edifice Nauticus has. To make up for that a large portion of the interior spaces on the ship itself have been converted to fascinating exhibit areas focusing on battleship history and design, Admiral William Halsey's career, the New Jersey's own history as well as that of her namesakes, and so many other interesting topics. I particularly loved the battleship history area where they went into detail about important factors in design and compared the Iowas to other nation's ultimate battlewagons. And yes, they mention the IJN Yamato and objectively point out her strengths and weaknesses versus the Iowas without seemingly playing favorites.
Past the exhibits the museum also thoughtfully included a special play area for kids, something I definitely do not recall the other ships having.
Overall, the museum was so engrossing I spent a lot more time than I expected there and could have stayed for even longer if I didn't have a train to catch back to New York that same evening.
If there are any cons I could point out it would be 1) posted info on the more modern armament like the CIWS, TLAM modules, and Harpoon launchers was lacking versus the other ships, 2) although almost all of the main deck is open the very stern of the ship is closed off so you can't get to the tail of the ship where the old gun tubs are (that's one thing the other Iowas let you do that the NJ doesn't, 3) the gift shop could have had more stuff, 4) food options seem very limited on the Camden waterfront area, and speaking of the Camden waterfront, 5) other than the New Jersey there's not a whole lot else there. There is an aquarium but if you're a naval buff you're going to want to hop a ferry or drive back across the river to Philly and check out the USS Olympia and the other ships at the Independence Seaport Museum if the "Black Dragon" didn't quite fill your need for naval history.
Laura Littell
Absolutely awesome!! Huge ship with a ton of stairs but just so cool! All the employees were very knowledgeable and friendly.
Amanda N
Spent the overnight as a special treat for my husband's 54th bday. Fired the 5" guns, had dinner, and took a tour Friday night. Saturday we had hot breakfast on the ship, took a pre-booked curator tour with Ryan, and ended the day leaving the gift shop with a piece of teak decking from WW2 and an original life preserver ring from the deck. This is a must do for any enthusiast - and all of the crew are so organized, and do it right. Parking is secure, shuttle is immediate and professional, and the price of the whole encampment is excellent. The curator tour took us places not on the YouTube channel, which was amazing. Only recommendation would be more food available at the gift shop, as we were super hungry after our tour on Sat.
Bravo!
Zachery St. Germain
One of my favorite museums. The self guided tour takes around an hour and a half and is quite the workout, but its incredible to see. Just watch your head if you're tall!
Nicholas Montalto
Pretty awesome overnight experience and first time staying on a navy vessel! Definitely a lot of history with this awesome platform of firepower! Recommend taking the time to check it out!
Jeff Kiernan
What an amazing experience! Me and my wife did not expect the tour we got. You literally get to visit every single part of the ship, from the deck, down to the crew quarters, kitchen, engine room, bridge, captains quarters, and even one of the main gun turrets and loading area down deep in the ship. Allow at least a few hours, as there is so much to see. Simply amazing to picture life as a sailer, and living in this ship. Wow. You will not find a better value for $25 dollars! It is air conditioned and very walkable.
Joe Panchella
Beautiful Ship and the back drop of Philadelphia is incredible. The staff there are wonderful especially Annette in the ticket booth and Steve in Parking area
Shayla Valentin
Great experience for tourist getting to know NJ. Had a blast. Tour guide was very informative and if he couldn't answer our question he would find someone that could. Tour lasted about 2 hours.
Bilal Khan
One of the most unique experiences that you will ever have in life! So informative, its a whole new world inside that battleship! You can easily spend 3-4 hours inside reading and looking at exhibits!
Eric Bobowicz
Such an amazing time! So much history that spans from WW2 all the way to the Gulf War and more. Every staff member goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy every moment aboard this incredible ship! A must see!!!
Brett Mcquade
Had our celebration of life for my father that served on the USS New Jersey during the Korean War. My situation doesn't apply to standard visits. Ship is still being restored but they are doing great work. A lot of insight into the life of saulors on a Ship. Wonderful place and worth checking out.
Kenneth Lugo
Had a great time. Went with my wife and daughter. The day we went you had the opportunity to fire the salute gun for a additional $50 donation. I paid for my daughter which was a once in a lifetime experience for her. She loved it! The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. There was a lot to see and we there about 3 hours. We did the self tour to go at our own pace. You will need to climb a few "ladders" but more like steep stairs. The stairs are sturdy and the inside of the ship is roomier than you think. I will definitely have to come back to tour more of the ship. Hats off to all the crew members and volunteers who have been able to keep a piece of history restored for all to see.
Stas kim
Can I say wow!! I went there in a sel tour took me 3hrs to walk the whole ship... great piece of US history.... I highly recommend it to anyone!!
Janice Smith
The battleship os amazing!! We did a wing it day trip and ended up here. We did the self tours. Awesome day
Henri Rönkkö
You really should visit this America's most decorated ship, so many wars in history.
There is so much to look, that you should have 4-5hours to look it all.
This is the best of Iowa-class museum ships, because they had opened cannon turret down below. You can see the storage of those big grenades. Up in a cannon turret was good video how cannon works.
World war 2 radio room was nice to see too.
Tomahawk missile launch center room was awesome, but I was looking that there was some vandalism. Visitors had taken some of the buttons of computers. Why to ruin museum?
Bob Carnahan
Great opportunity to see a historic battleship. If you want to see the whole ship, plan on spending about 6 hours.
Jay B
Incredible day out! My girlfriend and I did the entire tour.
The tour guides were really helpful and informative and alot for fun. Highly recommended if you ever visit Philly!
Avia Bar Kochva
What a wonderful experience! The battleship is a real life museum , a lot of interesting facts and events that took place during WW2 make you feel so Patriot and proud! A lot of the crow working there are vats which make your experience even more realistic. You can walk through the all ship, well organized, definitely can spend 4 5 hours there. Suggestion:adding the voices of the soldiers inside the ship during the tour well make it even better. Fact: if you donate 50$ they'll let you shot one of the cannons.
Parking: 10$ , ticket 25$ adult
Crystal Blackman
Got lost on this ship cause its so big. Definitely worth the trip. Wasn't even part of our itinerary but had some time so we did it.
Noel Abejo
Historic Battleship New Jersey, visit it to learn more about the journey. Take a walk around the ship, best to have a tour guide. Nice amenities on board. Before you even step on the ship there are markers on land with the dates and service during WWII.
Shivam Sharma
Good place to visit. Offline tickets available at the counter. The bag packs are not allowed inside so they will keep in the lockers near counters.
Wensi F
We went because we bought CityPass, didn’t know what to expect before going. But we end up spending 3+ hours on the Battleship. Lots of interesting things to see and learn. Don’t forget get on the two free tours if you get self guide tickets.
Yanina Ribeira
We loved it 😍 just make sure that you are ready to claim stairs lol I very recommend this beautiful 🛳
Fethey Sull
The best museum ship ever! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, they will do everything to make your visit comfortable! The ship is huge, there are many open decks and inside premises. And this smell of machine oil, metal and water make you feel a sea wolf!
Matthew Colby
Great time on the ship watching the fireworks. The only problem with the night on the ship was avoiding the hundreds of spiders. Otherwise a great show on the ship. It would of been nice if most of the people leaving the show could of been a little better at driving and little bit more courteous. Over all a great night.
Mark Rahr
We took part in the encampment with the boyscouts. The boys completed their radio merit badge. What a great experience!!
Jon Witty
Museum staff are friendly and willing to talk, or help if needed. The ship is beautifully maintained and cared for very well. Even just walking around with no tour, there is so much to see and explore. Was worth the 6 hour drive
Debbie Westbrook
I had a wonderful time, so much to see and learn. The people were helpful and happy to answer any questions.A must see for young and old.
Erick Paulson
Well worth the price of admission. Did the self guided tour and was not disappointed. Staff was very helpful to get you started in the right direction. Spent 2.5 hrs and still didn't manage to see everything. It's more than just walking a "tour line" on the main deck. Give yourself a few hours to really take it all in.
Gargee Chowdhury
It’s huge and enough to explore! So take enough time in your hand before you start exploring here. You can explore on your own by following the green blue and red lines. Check for the arrows that will show you the route to reach the informative corners ! I found it pretty interesting to know about the past , what happened inside the ships, how the ship was controlled and lot more about the time of battles! So it’s worth the visit! Paid Parking is available near this spot!
Michael Schwern
It's so much bigger and awe inspiring in real life. The pictures do not do it justice. Tours are self-guided, cover a lot of the interior of the ship, and are hands on. The restoration is so detailed, a great mix of educational material and spaces left as-it-was. On weekends you can also do the engineering spaces and upper works, but allocate a few hours to see it all!
Chad Dzurick
Friendly Staff. Unique self-guided tour. Spend as much time as you like exploring the massive Battleship, a living hands on museum.
Steve Wajda
This was too cool, we were able to go into the turret and see the inside of it aswell as a "thank you for coming tour", which was super cool, informative and free with the tickets for the battleship new jersey.
Michael J Hopkins
Awesome site to see !
Did not know it was there ! We kinda stumbled upon this Gem via the opposite side of the Delaware River off of the South Street side. As well as the other ships and submarine in which we did not know of or get to see.
Ryan Randell
Haven't been here since I was a kid, went with my boyfriend and saw soooo much more than I ever remember seeing! Amazing museum to go to if you're interested in military history at all
Randy Mauterer
Be prepared to stay all day to get the full experience. Self tour was fine, you can scan a code to hear additional info at numbered stations. Try to get mini-tours where available (engine room, turret citadel). Some interesting places require small access. So much history.
Chris Aubrecht
If you love naval history then I'm sure your find the USS New Jersey well worth your time. Friendly staff. Go Navy beat Army.
Deborah Federici
My first visit here. I'm not too much into history but it was fascinating to tour the ship. My boyfriend is retired from the military so I had a personal tour guide! We did meet a gentleman who took us thru the engine rooms and explained how everything worked. It was pretty incredible to learn that the ship took about 34 months to build and many women worked because the men were at war at the time!
Peggy Lamberton
Jill (docent on board) and Campbell (retail) were stand-outs of excellence on our visit August 4. We're serious museum goers, and my husband's an historian. Jill and Campbell were both professional, approachable, and knowledgeable.
The gentleman at the outermost gate (not the gate by the ship entrance) allowed our Lyft driver to take us all the way to the ticket house. He had a cap with USMC colors of red and yellow. Thank you!
We were hoping to buy a red and yellow cap with "Battleship New Jersey BB62," which signified Marine detachment on board. They were out of stock in the retail store on land, and out of stock on the website. However, we could see quite a few in the on board ship store. It was locked. Nobody had a key. Can the retail store manager help us?
Eduardo Garcia
Very cool ship. I was traveling for work and before flying back home I decided stop and check it out. I took the self guided tour but I would recommend taking the "Red" tour, heard that you get to go up to the bridge and engineering (I assume that means the engine rooms). I will take the red tour next time I am in town.
archana pillai
I had been there, to watch 4th July Fireworks yesterday. They had very polite and friendly staff looking after the entry.I thought, we will have to stand for a long time in the line, but the staff made it easy for everyone to enter. There were some senior staff being very nice and watchful making us feel secure and comfortable. They also had a musical band who performed and they were AWESOME.👍☺️. They arranged a small bar, snack and water for us.Thank you for such an amazing event.
Bobbi Roberts
A great experience. Definitely worth the price. Our guide "Rob" was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable. He added wit, stories and an appreciation for what our veterans have sacrificed and given to us.
barmy rocket
Wonderful opportunity to explore a great ship. Very sad that in UK we saved no battleships, only cruisers etc. Well done those who preserve her and in memory of all who served in her. I'm from UK, my old Dad served in HMS Duke of York.
Devin Warner
What an awesome museum. Had a blast exploring the number of times I have been here. They are doing a great job restoring everything. The technology seen here is mind boggling. If you are near here, stop by! You won’t regret it.
Jesse Torn-Skye
Quite a lot to do and see here, very well maintained and the staff is nice. Whole tour if you are just skimming will take about 2.5 hours. If you want to read everything, maybe about 4 hours. Wear comfortable shoes and be careful of low head space and steep ladders.
Mike Burns
Interesting to see veterans who once served aboard the ship while on active duty return to visit her as a museum. Now has guided tours of the #2 16" magazine and the engine room. Well preserved, in some cases exactly the way the Navy left it they day it was decommissioned. Very unique and well maintained.
Esmeralda
Take about 3-4 hours if you don't wanna rush. There are 4 color pathways you can take. Green, blue, red and yellow. Follow the arrows and explore the tour yourself. Simple and easy self guided tour and saves you money. Tours with others consists of longer time you're there because so many questions you ask and it holds you up. Explore the engine and the room with their ammunition. Historical and educational for people of all ages.
Ryan LeGrand
Incredible! I've visited the Iowa and S. Carolina in the past, and was amazed at just how much of the New Jersey is restored and open to public. The tour routes are well marked, extremely knowledgeable docents, and a lovingly maintened warship that can be mind-boggling in scale (standing inside a 16in gun turret was awesome)
Gage Firestone
It is amazing glad it is still around and it was a nice weekend when I stayed
Timothy Yeung
Entry is a little pricey, but there is a lot of good history here. Be ready to do a lot of walking and a lot of stairs. Gift shop is somewhat pricey, but there's always the penny press if you're on a tight budget
Bernard He
Very nice staff, detailed tour around engine and ammo rack areas.
Philip A. Alia
Impressive piece of US military history - only able to complete 1/2 tour of ship in 2 hours. Kyle gave us an awesome tour of the boiler and engine rooms. We look forward to going back.
David Doyle
A great museum ship! The Curator Ryan Szimanski is a very knowledgeable person whose passion for the ships restoration shows.
They offer Curator tours and firing of the 5 inch guns as well as the 40mm signaling gun.
A fantastic day out in a beautiful part of the area.
Highly recommend stopping by and visiting this beautiful piece of American Naval History!
Ms. Jenn-adelphia
I was on the philly side, but the fireworks on July 4th were done on the battleship. And it was such a nice event. There were a lot of people out and it was sweltering hot, but once the fireworks started going off, it was amazing. This was the first time I saw shapes form in the sky after the starburst would open up. And it was so close and big. Had the whole family out to watch this. Had a great time.
motty samrah
Amazing place. Worth the drive on the money. I really enjoyed.
Joe Smo
If you like naval history you will love this ship, a visit not to be missed. Very friendly volunteers at the ready to address any and all questions. Its impressive fire power is awe inspiring.
David Black
A very humbling experience, 80 years of Service, 4 Commissions. You can't see it all in one day. It us a Family must!
William Si
I was never stationed in a surface ship, I was a submariner and was able to figure things out while I was touring there. This was a nice ship to visit and I learned some new things from my co-worker, he volunteered to work at a sister ship that's still commissioned. The only complaint I got are the roads going to parking are terrible.
dimitri balanski
Took the self guided tour and had a great time exploring. They have people around the ship to help you if you need and love that there is a lot you can see and it’s not off limits. Don’t plan on seeing everything in one fo
Luisa Glass
I just had my senior prom there and everyone was AMAZING. They really went above and beyond for us to have an amazing night, telling us about the ship and someone even drove us back to our car in their golf cart so we didn’t have to walk. Thank you guys so much for everything, we couldn’t have asked for a better staff!
Andrew State
Kinda pricey, but we enjoyed it. The battleship is pretty big.
Victor Aguirre
A fantastic memory and representation of Naval battleship history. During the tour you get to see how sailors live, the work they on that ship and a through history of the USS New Jersey. There are also interactive displays and very educational for anyone who wants to learn about life at sea and aboard a battleship.
Rusty Shackleford
Went on a weekday and got to get a good look around. You can breeze through it in an hour or really take your time and spend a solid 3 hrs there if you want. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be going back next time I'm in the Phila area.
Jackie Morrison
We took my 5-year-old son here and he loved it! It is really cool just to be able to walk around. Just a warning that this is a half day event though. We walked around for an hour and a half and only made it through the green tour. After the green line there's also a red line at a blue line that you can take which we will go back for next time.
Andrew Smith
Fantastic museum if you want to see a WW2 battleship, history in every corner. Friendly staff who seem passionate about what they do. Lots of ladder/stairs so if youre physically disabled or have kids take note, it is close quarters with many things to trip over or bump your head on. being a real battleship the last thing they had in mind were children or physically disabled. however there is a modern elevator and a ramp to get you onto the main deck which offers alot on its own. To see all of it may take more than a full day if you read and examine everything. But you can breeze through in a few hours if thats your thing.
Valerie Wong
I had a pleasing experience. Love the history that was presented on my self guided tour. Not too crowded when I went. Wish I had more time to explore more of the ship. Noticed there was even a little kids section which was cute. I was only able to see one level of the ship but the experience was great.
Brian Dorflinger
Was at the battleship New Jersey for private event. Was able to take this picture of the sun setting over the battleship.
Brandon McGregor
Our Grandfather served on this ship in the 40's so it was an amazing time bridge to the past. The ship is very well preserved and well maintained. Covid has shut down a few areas including the food and kids play areas. The ship was very nostalgic and you could almost feel the energy that once was. Saturday's offer a additional tour of the engine rooms. This is a workout, plan on lots of climbing stairs and ladders, lots of walking and more walking! Well worth the money to see a piece of history up close. The most decorated warship in US naval history!
Patrick Sydes
Excellent! We did the Turret Crawl in Turret 2. Been aboard USS New Jersey (BB-62), about 3 times. Always a great experience to be aboard US Naval History.
David Ackley
Great to view the last USS Battleship that was placed into service. The crew, docents and volunteers do a magnificent job to making your trip enjoyable.
Chris
Very cool experience. Ship is maintained very well and is usually staffed by at least a couple of veterans who served onboard or those who worked on it. You can do an audio tour or also just explore on your own
Paulo Lorenzo
We stayed overnight, and the crew was amazing! We had lots, lots of kids and the crew was hospitable, supportive, funny, appropriate, inspiring, and educational. I strongly recommend the overnight stay.
Gregory Smith
Large areas of the ship were open to the public. Very knowledgeable tour guide leaders. Extensive historical exhibit help.
Mari Tomizawa
Calling all super nerds, this is the ship for you. It's hard to describe the scale of this ship - it's massive and the self guided tour is extremely detailed. If you're really into warships and history, budget at least half a day or more. I would also recommend the guided tours as many of the tour guides and people working there actually served on the ship! It's a memorable, moving experience. You can take it as slow or fast as you like. I also strongly recommend doing the bonus, blue line portion of the guided tour that takes you through the machine shop, turret loading area, and doctors and dentists offices! That was probably our favorite part.
Chris Buff
GREAT time! So much to see and do! Big thanks to Walt and Evan who gave exceptional tours of the turret and engine room! VERY informative, and so cool!
Mike Dunphy
What a great tour such a cool place our guide Jason was fabulous, knew so much about the ship and its history. I highly recommend taking a visit.
David Janotta
Really amazed at the size of this ship. It is literally a city afloat.
Renzo Cafferata
Had a great time here. Explored the bowels of the ship, wandered through a ton of excellent historical exhibits. Great time for any ship/military nerds!
Grant Fisher
I've got to admit to not having been here (yet!) but Mr. Szymanski's videos on YouTube are a genuine national treasure. The care, dedication, and enthusiasm in every single one is deeply inspiring and wonderfully entertaining and informative. I enjoy every single one and solely due to those videos am I planning a trip out to visit the museum.
Charles Walker
Great tour! The guides are knowledgeable and very helpful. We took the self guided tour and read the numerous placards as we went. The ship is massive so be prepared to spend at least 2 hours if you want to see it properly. There is a good deal of climbing up and down so be prepared for that. Highly recommended!
Mr. Rogers
I have always been an avid fan of naval history, so the following review might not be super objective but I'll write it anyway.
The ship itself is in really good shape, all things considered. It's great that so many of the original components are still in place.
The amount space in the ship that's open to touring and exploring is pretty impressive. It's a 2-3 hour trip if you want to see everything. You can even get some snacks in the mess halfway through if you get hungry.
In the end, it's an incredible piece of history. Everything is fairly well maintained, bathrooms were adequately cleaned and such. The people that worked there were almost entirely very kind, passionate people that were a pleasure to speak to.
Highly recommended.
D. C. Wright
What an experience! Boxing matches on a battleship. Had great seats and the atmosphere was great. Views from the battleship were beautiful with Philadelphia in the background.
Henry McCarthy
We spent a great day here in the middle of summer. The ship was much bigger than expected and full of fascinating history. What was really cool was being able to speak to service members while on board the vessel. A great day out especially if you love Naval Military History.
None Required
Such a cool exhibit! This is well worth the cost of admission as you have access to virtually the entire ship. Very historic and well detailed. The crew was nice. A must stop of you come to Philly. Took us a while to get through it all but it is a great piece of history. Highly recommend!
Megaw767
Wow such a great self guided tour. If you have any interest in the Navy or anything to do with the Military this is a must do. Self guided tour took my Wife and I about 2.5 hours, I stopped and took pictures of everything I could. The volunteers that we spoke with were super friendly and very knowledgeable, Mike in particular was a pleasure to speak with. If your small children aren’t good with very steep stair ladders and don’t do well out of there strollers I would have to say come back when they are better on there feet for the entire duration, no strollers aloud.
Jay Kool
This was highly under rated , we were surprised how much information and detail to history of this ship! The major role it played! Kids enjoyed ship more that the aquarium! Long tour over 2 hours time frame easy! Must visit during a Philadelphia experience!
TX99517 SHADOW
I was there last week. We got there kind of late in the afternoon. I would recommend spending a whole day there as there is so much to see. We started with the green self tour and were able to do the red tour. Next time I’m in this part of the county, I’ll stop by and see the rest.
Lily Kiper
Amazing tour/museum full of well written and informative exhibits. Knowledgeable staff throughout the experience. Took a while to do because there is soo much to see and read. I would absolutely go back which Intend to do when I bring my father, who served in the navy. I think he’d enjoy it
Arjun Menon
Spent 3 hours on the battleship museum. It is well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed the visit
Ania Stacey
Great experience!!! We were a part of the scout overnight adventure. Although we didn't have the best guide and the food really sucked, the museum itself was pretty amazing. We got to sleep on bunks (which were super tight). There is a lot of small spaces ( very claustrophobic) and steep stairwells. If you can't handle that type of experience, I would not recommend it!
Herb Snyder
Great place - even better history lesson!!! For those of you who DONT BELIEVE our great country needs to defend ourselves...leave here now, this isnt for you. For those of you who do its a great place to take your children/ grand children to show them who & why we are/WERE what & who we are as a nation! This is one example of why we dont speak german and or japanese...PLEASE,PLEASE, TEACH & SHOW OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS WHY THEY HAVE WHAT THEY DO TODAY!!! Its all a gift & priveledge - not a given. The men & women who served on vessels like this is why..🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪💪
Tim Habich
My son and I did the encampment with out local Cub scout pack. It was so much fun. The accommodations are very authentic. The food provided was average. The guided and self guided tours are amazing and very informative. There is a lot of history in this ship. It's truly amazing.
Andy A. (Veritas)
Reserve the day and take your walking shoes. For those not familiar, these ships are big. The self guide tour is a great way to see you he ship on your terms. And you get to go nearly everywhere.
Staff is made up of Volunteers and are in various locations around the ship to assist or are working on fixing the things. Parking is on the street and costs.
Bob Olson
This place is open despite what Google says. Call, talk to ticket office! Poor publicity. Anyway, it's a big ship! Impressive in it's size and complexity.
Kai
Worth the trip! It's an amazing experience seeing the Battleship New Jersey! They have many areas in the ship open and the ship is easy to navigate without missing anything since you can follow a red line that goes through the entire ship! You have the option of having an audio tour too. All of the staff was helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend it. You are inside a ship for most of the time and the air is a little stale in some parts so if you don't like confined spaces I would recommend staying on the deck! It's still really cool!
Paul Johnson
Visited the BB62 Battleship New Jersey as a volunteer worker. I was given a condensed tour before being put to work. I actually had the pleasure of " firing" her 16 inch main guns. What a trip!!!
Christine Monlux
This was the only battleship we have ever toured, but by far the best boat out of all the boats we toured (i.e. cruisers, submarines, coast guard cutters, lightships, and a sloop-of-war) it’s massive size is impressive and there are informational plaques all along the tour. Arrows on the ground directing you along the tour path. We went over 2019 Christmas break and it was very cold especially out on the water with the extra breeze, but the inside of the shop was much warmer. Our thirteen and twelve year old girls were entertained, our seven year old son was in heaven and might have had more fun then my active duty navy husband. The fella (in one of my pics) was so good with my son and let him ask questions during his speech. He was awesome. The staff in general were awesome. The ticket counter guy encouraged us to get the yearly family pass (because of the size of our family) which was cheaper than buying Individual tickets. Thanks to him we saved money. Even though we paid a substantial amount for all 6 of us, it was well worth every penny.
Arthur Avery
Fun way to spend 1-2 hours! You will be climbing a lot of ladders, but it's not strenuous if you have a basic level of mobility and can step over 18 inch obstacles. If you have a baby/toddler front carriers are required (no back carriers!!!). The staff are highly knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth an hour or two drive to come and see if you are within range.
Mat Mueller
Great museum! Great audio tour. Take your time. To explore the whole boat you need at least two hours. Staff on the boat is super friendly.
Miguel Ruiz
If you are anywhere near this area it is a MUST SEE. I have been to other Navy ships around the country and this is by far one of the best. Very well maintained. Keep in mind, there is a lot of ladders and small spaces. Also watch your head, cramped areas and you can hit your head.
Michele Clark
We celebrated New Year's Eve on the battleship it was great the museum was awesome seeing a lot of old pictures sleeping conditions there were people along the museum given additional information for any questions you may have . For the food not quite the food I expected but I mean hot dogs pretzels they were selling alcohol beverages I did not partake because I was with my children the fireworks were kind of hard to see from the ship we left the ship and went down at the bottom of the steps had a great view of the boat where the fireworks were coming off of really enjoyed it
Kathryn Hashem
I feel a very strong historical connection to the navy, and this is an excellent way to get an understanding of what my family members suffered through in their time in the service. The volunteers are excellent to interact with, full of information and stories.
2 complaints.....first, the parking is quite a hike from the ticket center, than there is a further distance to get to the boat. It can be a workout just to get there, let alone touring the ship.
Second, and this is maybe just because I would like to go more often, my 14 year old and I paid almost 50 bucks to get in. I get it, it is insanely expensive to maintain and attempt to restore a navy warship, but I would go more often if it was slightly less expensive.
Sam Crawford
Worth the trip. Just watch the retirement of 1 of the greatest battleship. My uncle got married on the deck.
Rich Cochran
Fantastic ship, exhibits are interesting, the tour guides and volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly. Tom Wilkie (I think that's his name) in particular gave a great tour of Turret 2). Highly recommend.
Deb Leonard
So much to think about as we took the Guided Turret 2 Tour. A humbling experience as we stood on a battleship that served our country and came back victorious. This is a very interactive tour and if you're short like me, a challenging one, especially the doorways on most of the decks, and thank God for the staircases that were added so the public could tour this ship. Definitely worth the money spent. I only wish we would have had more time to spend. Our tour lasted almost two hours, but if we would have had time, we would have done the self guided tour as well. It can easily take up the better part of the day if allowed. Please allow the time and immurse yourself in part of the history that thousands lived on a daily basis while serving our country unselfishly.
Kenny Ames
The staff was excellent and very friendly. The tours were very informative. It was a great day on the Battleship!!!
Timothy Rudisill
This was the first time I have ever seen a battleship in person. I was so surprised by the sheer size of the ship. Seeing them on tv or in movies definitely does not do them justice. We visited on the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. Just put everything in prospective.
Adeel Fakhar
The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial is truly amazing place to visit. The most decorated battleship to have served in the U.S. It was part of World War II. I went there in this Independence day & really enjoyed Fireworks that they especially arranged each year in Independence day. Make plan to go there but i should on Independence day 😉
Lisa S
I visited Battleship NJ yesterday and I must say that this place is amazing. You are greeted so warmly by the staff and they are so eager to tell the visitors about the history of this great Battleship. It is a humbling experience that I feel everyone, young and old should check out. Young kids seemed amused by all the "fake" people (manniquins) they have around as props. Be forewarned though...the doorways and steps going up and down could be problematic for some people. Otherwise, if you are in the Camden area or even visiting PA, I highly recommend checking this place out and learning a little bit of history.
Michel Hilani
Huge ship. Nice to visit if you are into Battleships and World war and Vietnam war history. Nice for families too as an outdoor activity.
Staff is very helpful and there is a lot to see.
Erik Wilson
Great job to all of the staff and volunteers. For years I've thought about visiting but hadn't until today. I should have visited sooner. Great museum.
Paul Butler
Participated in an overnight tour and sleep over with the cub scouts. The most decorated ship in the US navy and had served in multiple conflicts since world war 2. It offers a perspective of what it must have been to serve abroad this ship. Knowledgeable tour guides provide a wealth of information. Those staying for the sleep over- prepare for cramped and loud overnight conditions. Worth it for the experience of the boat, history, and Philadelphia skyline views.
Krystal Kaster
So cool! So fun! Lots of places for kids to touch and see what life was like and a new play room about halfway through with lots of toys and space. Amazing history!!! So lucky to be on the most decorated ship!!!
Tim Lehman
Very cool to walk around a Battleship with your kids. My dad was in the Navy so it was awesome to see some of the things on a ship like where and how they slept, ate, ranks, etc.
I would go back again. Bring a powered little Bluetooth speaker with you or a mini pin splitter to share the recording with whoever you bring with you.
Chris Sprague
The Battleship New Jersey is quite an interesting experience. The self-guided tour is simple to follow and takes you to many parts of the ship, inside and out. The guided tour shows you to areas that are not available otherwise and gives you more information about some of the self-guided parts. The tour leaders are very knowledgeable and can answer specific questions that you might have. Expect to spend a half day, but the overnight program is highly recommended if you have a chance. Bring some snacks in your bag or expect to spend a lot at the snack bar if you get hungry outside of the provided meals, which are a little lacking in quality.
Danielle Mathis
Did an overnight with scouts. Food was decent, cots were just ok (do not plan to sleep here if you are claustrophobic the bunks are pretty close together unless you can get up to the top one...there are no ladders for the bunks) BUT the history and the tour were amazing! I would return again if I had the opportunity.
Chinmayee Shepal
It was amazing tour of the huge battle ship. You can imagine how actual navy folks live on the ship. The gentleman in the radar room explained how the radar system works and how they handle terpedo attacks or make one. It was mind blowing.
Marien Leon
This is my second battleship that I had the opportunity to see, great experience, they have a lot things to do and very easy instructions to follow so you can get to know the whole ship.. super happy with this visit!! Everyone should visit this place.. is safe, they do pre screening for covid19 to keep everyone safe.
Stephanie Dunker
Gorgeous views of the city of Philadelphia with tons of military history. This battleship was in everything from WWII to the Gulf War. Please take the time to visit this bastion of Naval history. Great place to see fireworks on the 4th of July and New Year's Eve.
Al Kasakowski (kaz)
BB-62, USS New Jersey, "The Big J", a great place to learn about American history. Step aboard the most decorated battleship in US history. The floating museum has all types of activities guided and un-guided tours, even overnight stays organized for kids. Many of the tour guides served on her before she was retired. She was brought back out of retirement and refitted many times over the years. Always serving the fleet with distinction. I had the honor to serve aboard her sister ship, BB-61 USS Iowa for 1 week in the mid 80's while on active duty. A piece of American naval history right on the Camden waterfront. Plus the Adventure aquarium is right next door, so make a day out of it. 😎
Elle Town
Took the self guided audio tour. The ship is massive and the amount of time and effort put into the onboard exhibits was very impressive. Took our family of four about 2 hours to complete the whole tour. A must see if you are into military history.
May Girl
The tour we took was on our own no headphones and it was supposed to be 90 minutes long but took us two hours cause we really enjoyed looking at the passed and we took lots of pictures. It was fun, learned a lot..bring walking shoes
j.r. wick
Awesome experience! There for 4+ hours and still didn't see everything so I'll be definitely be going back asap, 😁 …
Ian Engberg
What a great museum. We took the self guided tour, lots of history to look at!. The New Jursey was clean and had good snack on board. You can even go inside one of the main cannons.
Alexander Merzlenko
You should definitely visit this mighty ship. 5 commissions, combat envolvment from WW2 to Iraq - she has something to tell. And on East Coast she is the closest one to NY out of four in existence.
Self guided tour is pretty much enough if you want to go through every detail and immerse yourself into living in such an amazing machine - how was it like.
And if you have a chance to have a chat with the veterans - you'll get information about lots of stuff to think about!
Charles Green
Awesome experience! Great to see that this incredible warship has been preserved so well.
Cailey Cogburn
John was an amazing tour guide, he kept the group on track and laughing the whole way. He is great at his job, the battleship was being restored/preserved but there was still a lot to see. We took the 1 hour tour of the top few floors but they have 3 hour tours below deck too. Definitely recommend this for families or anyone interested in history.
Jim Marszalek
Great stop for history buffs. Give yourself plenty of time to browse all the exhibits. The foundation out a lot of work into them and you'll enjoy them more if you aren't in a rush
Tom Surgalski
Hats to everyone for all the work to make so much of the ship accessible and those that served on her. The tour is self guided and clearly marked. Things to do and see for all ages. If you take the ferry, the walk along the river is very nice. We spent about 2 hours touring the ship.
Edward Kindel
The staff and veterans on board are knowledgeable and friendly. They take the time to explain and answer any questions. Definitely recommend as you will see all the ship with any tour
Anthony Powiliatis
As big as this ship looks when you walk up to it, it feels even bigger inside! I've toured a few other battleships in the past but this one was the best. I LOVED how good the A/C was throughout the ship and enjoyed the many bathrooms and water stations with ICE COLD water throughout the tour.
Emma Huynh
We had a great time exploring the ship. There are so many interesting parts to see and hear about and gives a much better look into what it w be like to be on board.
Cambillian
We went to this ship a week after going to the other East coast Iowa-class battleship, the USS Wisconsin. Man, the New Jersey is so much better. There are tons of exhibits and themed-out spaces aboard. We spent at least 4 hours here. The docents were great. Best battleship on the East Coast!
LEMUEL Rivera
Went in for the first time after it reopened in June, many parts were closed due to the coronavirus so I only got to see the stuff on the outside above deck but it was still amazing and loved every second. Definitely will come back when it’s fully open!
Ckloe Dane
Give yourself plenty of time to go thru the ship. There are many interesting facts that you will want to stop and read about. We did the ferry over which was a fun experience itself.
AST_Jack M
Pros
- great staff/volunteers
-nicely restored exhibits
-interactive
-nice guided and non guided tours
Cons
-bathrooms are not big
No other cons
Overall it a great place to go and great for kids.
M S
Used go city pass and the ship looks very beautiful
Mike N.
This place was the coolest thing ever. You can tour the battle ship by your self or with a tour guide. This museum exhibits many different things for all ages. I personally loved this place. Weather your into history, like learning, want to take a day trip/field trip-this is the place for you.
Garrett M (GDroidBot)
Great museum and memorial! Most interior spaces are not wheelchair accessible, but the main deck is mostly accessible. The battleship is very open and there are self-guided tours available.
Xin Qian
Worth your time and money to take a look at this legendary battle machine. You can only scrape the surface from these photos, there will be more than you expected. The entire inside out are available to see. remarkable experience
Andi Koch
It's like walking through a living history of the ship and all she's seen. There are A LOT of exhibits and areas to see on this floating museum. Took us 2+ hours to walk through and we didn't even see it all! We did self- guided tour but if we go back I'd be interested in the guided tour. Very interesting to experience, had a nice time, friendly staff.
Christopher Donahue
U.S.A.
The best patriotic experience in NJ or the entire nation. Battleship New Jersey offers the best tour guides for an informative history lesson. The overnight stay is with BSA boy scouts is a wonderful time for young scouts.
Check out the Battleship NJ for the best history lesson on the planet!
Richard Pichowsky
Awesome museum. It has military tech from the 1940's through the 90's because it kept getting put back into service. The self-guided tour takes about 2 hours because the ship is huge.
Ishia Cadiz
Great expirence. This tour took 1 hour 30 minutes. But can be longer if you want to hear all the audios and take pictures of everythings.
Ty Klyuch
Really friendly staff. Stairs are my only complaint. It was really stressful with kiddos but the managed well. Wear pants and sneakers to stay safe when climbing.
Kids area is really a nice touch. They had s blast while I caught up with our guests we brought with us.
David Kelly
Went here on my trip back to the United States this summer, enjoyed seeing the shop very much. I found it quite easy to get there. Came up to Philadelphia on the amtrack from DC was a fast ride, then quite easy to get there from the station. Managed to tour the ship in a decent amount of time, and managed to get some other sights in during my day in Philly.
Roland Redner
The tour was awesome and the ship is amazing so glad we brought my Dad who is a Navy veteran from Georgia for his 80th birthday
Ado A.
Worth the two and a half hour drive. Grand! Majestic! Somber.
Uwe Jedlitschka
This ship is a very worth seeing place for everyone interested in technology and history. To go the complete tour, you have to calculate about 3 hours.
Dagmara Szyszczak Budman
Great guided tour. Our guide served on this ship.
Sam Enck
Super fun! The tours were easy to follow.
K. Masino
The restoration of this historical battleship was awesome. To be able to see a piece of history over 80 years old and learn about our veteran's battles to secure our Country's freedoms was pretty cool.
Gail Fisher-Lo
Way bigger than I expected. Kiddos loved it and the adults too. I planned for 2-3 hours to see the whole thing. Should have planned for 5. Lovely staff inside to answer questions and advise on where to go next.
William Su
excellently renovated areas(cabins, turrets, command ops) for you to see and there are also interesting exhibitions on display including the battles the battleship participated in.
Bryan Greenwald
Interesting piece of history. You get to see the entire ship with an audio tour on your phone. My kids had a great time too!
Mark Swift
What's not to love ? Great people working there
Y B
Great experience, although was a little hard to find the parking entrance.
Hunter Smith
The Battleship is one of Camden’s hidden treasures. Although it’s glory days have been long over, you still feel the spirit and learn so much history of the ship and American Navy culture. Lot of climbing, so be prepared (but they also have a video tour of the ship so if stairs aren’t your thing, then they have you covered)! Staff really care about making this a good experience and a lot of them have a lot of information. People like to complain about paying for parking, but it’s just as (if not more) to park at the Aquarium. If you wanna park unprotected or farther away, go to Rutgers and just walk down.
Kirk Dedenbach
The New Jersey is a great piece of history, and it's fascinating to see how the sailors lived and went about their daily jobs. It's amazing to see how tight the spaces are in the guns, and I can only imagine how loud it must have been when it fired!
Etienne Boucher
Compared to other museum ships I've been to, this one has the easiest to follow tour routes, very well interpreted spaces, and the ship is air conditioned. The additional guided tours into the machine spaces and magazines are also free of charge.
Jason George
It was cool. I slept on a tiny bunk, exploring endless rooms of history
Arielle Sabio
Very much worth the price to tour. It's a great self guided tour and the staff is very nice and helpful if you have questions. Great to take kids on as they'll get to explore a cool battleship.
Jay S
What an amazing opportunity to see a piece of American history. The ship is incredible, both inside and out. If you are visiting the area, make sure to take time to check this out.
Karine Karpati
Enjoyed the audio tour aboard the USS New Jersey. Learned a great deal about the vessel and life on the ship. We finished the tour with a quick bite in the mess hall.
Kimberly Schreiber
Staffed with kind veterans, we loved the self paced tour. Fun for young and old alike. Tons of exhibits and a small shop for souvenirs at the end. We took the ferry over from Philly and it was a short walk with an awesome river view. Definitely not handicap accessible!
DJ H
I highly recommend visiting the Battleship New Jersey. I enjoyed being able to explore nearly the entire ship. I learned quite a lot about the military history of the Battleship New Jersey.
Jake Shapiro
Battleship New Jersey is a museum on the water. It is full of rich history and a fun time for the entire family. You can walk around all around the ship and see and experience what it was like to live on the battle ship New Jersey. If you are a Boy Scout and looking for a fun new trip, you can sleep in bunks down in the ship with your troop. I do this once a year and would recommend this to anyone.
Korrine Rudderow
Price is a little higher than I thought it would be ($25). They do amazing upkeep though. Great history
Christie Gera
Living history. Very hands-on and immersive. There's even a kids play area about half way through the tour. And the kitchen is open for purchasing meals.
Gerardo Aguirre
What an incredible experience! The staff, the hosts/veterans were super helpful. Much respect to the engineering involved to create such a powerful machine. A thank you to the men and women who served. There are two parking lots: one is on Clinton st. The other is in front of the aquarium.
Daniel Gallegos
If you love battleships and nautical history this place is a must. Lots of walking and climbing here. Included in this visit is a great view of Philadelphia from the Camden NJ side.
geo chax
The engineering on this is crazy.
To imagine this was built before the second world War and fought in multiple wars after that.
The sleeping quarters will make you feel like all sailors were hobbits.
Jimmy D.
A must stop in the area. It is both a humbling and a tremendous learning experience. Veterans throughout the battleship make the visit even better especially the Admiral quarters.
Anwar Hossain
USS New Jersey (BB-62) is an Iowa-class battleship, and was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named after the US state of New Jersey. She was often referred to fondly as "Big J". New Jersey earned more battle stars for combat actions than the other three completed Iowa-class battleships, and was the only US battleship providing gunfire support during the Vietnam War.
Rod Cabral
At first the price tag seems very steep to just look at an old ship, however, the longer you stay the more you want to stay. The avg tour length lasts 1.5 hours. We did the self tour and we stayed for 3 hours! It was fun revisiting rooms, or looking around corners and bulkheads and while we weren't as educated as those in a tour I think we got a better feel of what it felt like to be on the ship. If you're in the area you must see this site.
Ravi Capeles
Once in a lifetume experience. Amazing structure of metal. The size is impressive. You would never believe how much can be done inside and in such tight spaces. Looking at the wall with all honors the ship and it's crew received for its years of service, gives you a hint at the tremendous adversity and bravery our service men and women exhibited during some of the most unimaginable times in the history of our planet. Thank you to all our veterans and military for your service. The ship closes at 3PM, so get there early. A lot of stairs and tight spaces, so be warned. Self guided tour follows a red line throughout the ship.
Dragon_ God075
Just walking around the ship was awesome. Lot of history. Cool for people to see how "comfortable" navy personnel lived on ship. Very nostalgic. Enjoyed it very much.
Gary Moritz
We attended a pinning ceremony for a nephew. He was sworn in as a Captain after seeing 20 years in Navy.
Good luck to him in his future.
Joseph Dutko
Located on the Camden water front is this massive 888 foot battleship that was launched on 12/7/1942. During WWII, the New Jersey began its career as the flagship for the Fifth Fleet, seeing action at Truk in the Carolines and was involved in many major & minor campaigns during the WWII. "Big J or Black Dragon" (nicknames used for the New Jersey) again seen major action during the Korean conflict, using its incredibly accurate 16" Guns to support ground forces up and down the Korean peninsula. Also seeing service in Vietnam, Beirut and the Persian Gulf (prior to Desert Storm) before being finally decommissioned 2/8/1991. During its active duty the ship earned a total of Nineteen Battle and Campaign Stars, the Big J is America’s most decorated surviving battleship. It is a super cool to walk the decks, check out many of the room, climb into the gun turrets its a trip you'll remember for a long time. Enjoy.
Brian Newman
Amazing ship to come visit. Only one of the 4 Iowa class ships built that was brought back to serve as a museum ship near where it was built.
James Bramblett
Love visiting history ..to think of all the veterans who went to war served on one of the most decorated ships in us history was awesome
Dimitrios Angelis
Great trip to the most decorated battleship in the fleet. The New Jersey is a magnificent ship that represents an awesome history and the people of a proud state.
P T
Visited from the UK & first chance to see a battleship at close hand. Really amazing and so interesting (for us guys at least!)
Spent many hours here and still didn't see it all! Hope to visit again soon.
Well worth the visit! 👍 …
Whiskey WheelKicks
Had way more fun here than at the aquarium and the staff are amazing. I highly recommend anyone to go
Jeffrey Sullivan
The neighborhood is sketchy, but they've got a gated, guarded parking lot. The educational experience was great with the self-guided tour and the docents available through out the ship.
Patrick Poe
Definitely a worthwhile attraction to visit while in Philadelphia! My grandfather was a WWII vet and this era in our history has always amazed me. It was an incredible experience to traverse a battleship, inside and out. There are colored routes marked on the ground that will guide you through various levels on the ship, so as to keep you on track. Plan on spending a solid 3-4 hours, depending on how much you enjoy reading (my wife and I are readers). The stairs between levels are a bit steep, so consider that before committing to the self-guided tour.
It is walkable from Philadelphia, but it's a long walk. My wife and I walk everywhere. From the Philadelphia Convention center to the battleship is about 3.5 miles via the Ben Franklin bridge (which was cool to walk across).
Regardless of how you get there, just get there. If you remotely enjoy history, anything related to ships, military, or are simply breathing, you should buy some tickets and head on over.
Brittany Ledger
We went on a weekday in December, they staff was very amicable and enthusiastic. It’s nice to see the new exhibits that have been installed.
Joe Teton
Twice a day they will fire one of the port side gun. It's near the aft deck. Be there to feel tjat worth the ticket.
Reza Moltaji
It was really great to visit such an amazing battleship during weekend. I got the ticket for the self-guided tour and enjoyed visiting it. Staff were very nice and knowledgeable. There was a tour leader, she shared with me very helpful and interesting facts about this one and I learnt a lot about the ship. Appreciate it!
Tim Lavelle
You Need To Know? Took our own self guided tour of The New Jersey. As long as you follow your colored path there are enough staff to add information to your tour. No need to pay for the actual guided tour. If you enjoy historic information & museum like exhibits then you will enjoy this battleship walk around. Staff were informative & friendly. Now you know!
Shawn Davis
Excellent time in learning history of our military and its intelligent advancement stemming from the '40's. It's a time the boys and I will never forget, being able to sleep on the ship.
Ali Bakir
A unique historic destination for learning about warfare and military legacy. Not recommended for claustrophobic people.
Peter Cuoco
Such a great place to take a day trip to with the family. Such friendly and knowledgeable Tourguides that share lots of historical facts about the Navy and this ship. Definitely well worth it for the little ones, and tires them out which is an added bonus during the pandemic.
Edit: Veterans discounts are available
Grant Miller
Excellent experience! They have a good portion of the ship open for viewing that gives you a representative slice of life aboard her. The young guy who gave the tour of the shell room and engine room was excellent! Was very thorough without getting stuck in the details, and gave some interesting anecdotes. If anyone out there has a key to the reduction gear housing, please contact them! The young lady in the crew's mess was excellent in giving directions and answering questions. It was well worth the visit for my son and I.
Ryan Norcross
Great day trip to explore the impact this ship had on history, and gain a glimpse into life aboard a ship that is so large it is hard to comprehend. Leave yourself lots of time to explore and expect to have to navigate lots of stairs and small passages. This is not suitable for individuals with mobility issues.
John Medero
One of the best tour spots in New Jersey. The battleship is located on the Camden waterfront. A lot to see on the navel ship with great guide's to help you.
Vinny Ton
Great experience with USS New Jersey battleship as our great Navy history accomplishment. I love to come back
Karl Ramm
Go see the most decorated US Naval ship in history. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and the boat is continuously being restored with love.
Christopher Glaves
A great tour with a lot interesting information. Expected to stay a couple hours but was there for over 4. The four different tour paths are a great idea and allow for those less interested to break away and those who want to explore more to continue on! Also Recommend Go City for tickets.
Francisco Roman Jimenez
I got to learn alot about the history war.
sam camp
The very best naval warship self guided tour we have ever taken. We have toured a lot including battleships and aircraft carriers. This Battleship tour is far more extensive and interesting.
Catch the ferry across from the Philly side, $10 return ferry trip.
MICHAEL MOZELIAK
I found it to be very interested, The history of this battleship and the museum inside the ship we're great. A must see for all history buffs.
Allen Di Girolamo
Great adventure into history. Ship is in great shape and very interesting. Great addition to the waterfront.
Tom
Coming from Philadelphia, plan on spending $5 New Jersey Toll to get back. Not a lot of food around, come prepared. Parking was $10. General entrance was $25 for adults (over age 11). June 2022- some reconstruction limits access to the full deck. Engine room will require a guide-when available. Note the leadership that commanded this ship over the years. Hope America will produce great leaders in the future, and these "great" leaders will be given opportunities to command.
Mike Kenny PELLITON
Best experience ever. Now playing world of warships will definitely be different
Artur Krzywdzinski
So much of history in one place. I do recommend to visit to anyone who's into military but not only.
Korey Rider
Have toured this and the USS Wisconsin down in Norfolk. Can easily say this was the better tour. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Only complaint was I had to go through Camden to get here.
Leah
We had a blast touring the battleship New Jersey. I wouldn't recommend it for younger children (under 2) or elderly people that have trouble with stairs. We went at the end of July 2018 and it was very warm out so make sure you dress appropriately for the weather.
Patrick Sauls
History and amazement. All in one, if you are handi-capable, would advise not go.
Bulk heads and areas hard to access
daneen morris wynn
Attended a banquet aboard ship. Nice banquet set. Expected a better selection and quality of food. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great views from ship. Will visit again for tour.
C S
Very good museum. U should bring enough time, though. This is one big ship! They let you see a lot of the ship. Sometimes there are former crew members, who will answer all your questions. I would recommend USS New Jersey and USS Intrepid together, since both ships fought together in the pacific.
Chad Streit
Fantastic experience for anybody that enjoys anything military-related. Make sure to take the "mini-tours" of the gun turret and engine room while you're on the main tour paths.
Rishabh Ranjan
Great look into the history of warship! Must visit
Josh Justic (Starbuck888)
Awesome piece of American history. Had a great time.
Nick Noren
The greatest and most decorated battleship ever! Love visiting this boat. Great food great fun.
Yang Li
It’s a good place to take a tour. Braod view to look at both sides PA and NJ. It usually holds some special events.
Rafal Zabielski
Awesome tour! We had fun exploring this ship. Make sure to pay the extra $4 for the audio devices. They explain everything well. Very interesting stuff.
Da0kiTheViking “Da0ki”
Nice experience! It is possible to explore the ship completly on your own. I recommend to calculate enough time, there is a lot to read and watch, if someone is interested. Especially taller (more than 170 cm) people should watch out, since the doors and some stairs might be a dangrous trap for them. This museum is NOT accessible via wheelchair. Unfortunatelly it is also not allowed to bring a backpack onto the ship, it has to be stored at the ticket counter. However it is allowed to bring a camera and therefore everything that is accessible can be fotographed.
X Hawkeye
Amazing ship to visit. I am stoked to have had the opportunity to come aboard and to in-person see the majesty of "The Black Dragon". I will at some point in the future come back to visit again. The folks who manage her are nothing short of excellent and very informative.
RichManSCTV0
Our JROTC Group from Orange County NY spent a night here and it was one of my most memorable nights as a cadet. This was back in 2016 and I still remember every moment of it, from the night time cannon fire, to the morning reveille. I went on a tour of the ship with a member of the crew who was on board from the 80s-90s His knowledge of the ship was fantastic. That night we even had a special guest who served on the ship in WW2 and told us his stories about the ship. This ship is a great part of American history, and so are the people who ran it!
Erin Fulford
We had such an amazing experience learning about the Battleship New Jersey. Kevin was a fantastic guide and tailored our tour to accommodate preschool throughout first grade students. So much wonderful history. Definitely a fantastic visit.
Elizabeth Carmichael
Very cool experience walking on and through a beautiful piece of history. It is amazing to see from the docks, but even more amazing to be aboard. Staff is pleasant and helpful.
Seto Kaiba
Unfortunate that there are missing guns... But it was still a great experience! There is a Beer Fest coming up on June 23rd 2018. Pretty cool!
Wesley Powell
If in the area I highly recommend coming here. It's a great ship in surprisingly good condition. Well worth spending half a day or so exploring.
Debbie Wentz
I was concerned I would not be able to physically do the steps, but it was not that difficult. My husband and I had a very nice day. Loved the history.
Heather Petet (Snow)
The ship was amazing, little confusing to find. The sad part was the gift shop was on the boat not the ticket area.
Praveena K
We got friendly tour guide Dennis. He was good with the kids and answered to all their questions. It was informative overall , especially scavenger hunt where we also learnt a lot...
Pavel Krejčí
Self guided audio tour for 25$. Definitely worth the money, great warship!
Timofey Grinyak
Perfect place for big-gun-ship geeks, if you are interested in battelship's history, like real power in real steel, the stuff are very friendly and ready to tell interesting stories and facts about the ship
Jim Stapleton
The Battleship is good place to bring your family to visit. There is a lot of information on board about naval history related to the ship. It seems like more areas have been opened up for the public to see over the past couple of years. The trip is definitely worth it!
Scott K
They do a great job of preserving the history of the most decorated battle ship in the Navy. Bring your kids here, not only will they be awed by the size of it they just might learn something. Make sure to say thank you to the guides on board, they are vets.
Scott Luker
We took the private tour at $250.00 each. It was not worth the money. Yes we got to see some places that you don't see on a normal tour, but three hours and not really informative. The person had a perspective of comparing the ship to others, not what I was there for. If you have served, not worth the money. Just do the standard tour.
robert mohn
Amazing ship, interesting tour. 16 inch guns are amazing.
sobeefy1
Highly highly highly recommended. You could spend all day on there if you really want to and it was not crowded whatsoever
Kenny O'Brien
Nice to see all the history, some areas off limits. The food served in the old mess hall was cool
john loman
Loved it anybody who likes history but particularly military history or naval History should definitely go it's worth every penny
Guy Elsmore-Paddock
We've visited both the Iowa (in Los Angeles) and this ship -- the New Jersey -- and this one gives you a lot more to see. The ship is in much better condition; a real "must see" if you're into Navy ships.
l m weaver
Very interesting. Even if you do the guided tour, you can still look around afterwards by yourself. It's best to have someone informative with you (like my son who knows all about military things!). All the volunteers were extremely helpful & nice.
John Forminio
Fantastic! A great place to visit if you love history like I do.
Gary Wayne
Amazing! I visit her often but this was the twilight tour. We climbed 16 decks from the bilge to the Mark 38 director deck!
Abdulrhman mubarki
It's one of best historical visit I have been.
Brian Kirk
Do the overnight if you can. Awesome experience!
GRK NRG
What an amazing experience! We were lucky and honored to stay overnight, on board the BIG J! We had a blast!!!!! Loved every second of it! The veterans became friends and we were so grateful to have experienced this place. Hubby and I, are always looking for adventure and fun. This was an experience we will take with us for a lifetime! The tour was informative and because we were there until the next day, we were able to spend longer periods of time to see all areas and get the full experience. They allow private events so if you want to book a super cool experience for a memorable event, then this is a perfect idea to share this themed experience with others too! Parking was easy and there were plenty of spots available at the time of our arrival. Everyone was super friendly, helpful, informative, professional, etc ..The list goes on and I can't stress enough how attentive they were from start to finish! During communication before we arrived and up until our trip ended. They truly went above and beyond to make our experience perfect! Dinner and breakfast was provided for those staying overnight. They also had a classic movie playing in the evening, during our relaxing time before sleep. We had a full comprehensive tour with a guide and he was such a delight and such a sweetheart!!! There's a gift shop onboard with cute souvenirs but you can also visit their website to get some extra items, that I didn't see in person. One of the most memorable parts of our time there, was when my hubby got to shoot from one of their 40mm guns onboard and we now have dog tags to remember that day! I don't want to give too much away as far as the tour details because there's more fun in finding out all the details when you're there and you're part of the action/experience so again, I can't stress enough, GOOOOOOO and see for yourselves! Whether you go once or you get hooked and you constantly go ..... GOOOOO! The only warning I would have about this ship is that you will constantly be going up and down STEEP/ANGLED (at times small/narrow stairs for the whole duration of your tour (no elevators at all) so, heavy word of advice, bring appropriate shoes with non-slip grips. Make sure to take your time and WATCH YOUR STEP! .... Otherwise, again, best experience and we will never forget this EVER!! If you love this stuff as much as we do, you can become members and or even donate to the ship so they can keep running this museum for years to come!
Joe Schwartz
Great Battleship. There for a Red Cross event. Great interesting tour on a beautiful day.
takomalu hsu
So cool that we can see the battleship attended many wars. It's like a history book you can touch.
Kevin B
A great way to come face to face with an exciting piece of living history. Much of the ship is accessible so you can really see how the sailors lived, fought and slept. A good mix of knowledgeable volunteers around to add insights or point out neat pieces of trivia.
Great for kids (though on most tours you will be navigating steep stairs, so best for 4 or 5 and up). Kids loved the guns and the living quarters.
Membership was actually comparable to a single visit, which is nice because then you're not necessarily pressured to see it all in 1 visit.
Easily accessible from philly or the highway.
Joshua Skelton
I spent the night here with my son's scout group. It was an amazing and educational experience. The staff provided so much knowledge and kept the tours entertaining and educational. A great experience.
Aaron Nile
Impressive ship.
Rebecca Davis
This was a pleasant surprise. There's so much to see and you can never see enough bunks. It's amazing how people live on a ship. The volunteers were very helpful. I think there could be better markers, like another colored line, to help you get off the ship. We had a great time. Be prepared to climb up and down some ship stairs, aka ladders, when you go.
Scott Strausbaugh
Stopped here for a self-paced tour and was not disappointed. Really interesting for kids and adults.
Orlando Miranda
Awesome place to visit with your family!
Chris Shenko
Enjoyed self guided tour of ship, think maybe they need to update displays ( like this exploded battery), but I did learn a lot about the ship and the personnel that worked ( and still work) on it.
Joan DeCroce
Awesome opportunity to see this ship. Was offered additional closed off tour by curators. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. This is a must see.
Gerardo Reyes
An awesome experience, if you're anything like me and enjoying see and reading everything available, show up early because the tour is long and full of information. Show up early so you are able to see every deck. Staff is very knowledgeable and the audio tour you can play right on your phone. Can't wait to go back because I showed up late and didn't make it to the top. I'm a big fan of battleships and I'm so glad I had the chance to tour U.S.S New Jersey.
Matt Reese
Very impressed, with the standard tour you get to walk around a ton of the ship. I have visited a bunch of museum ships and this was without a doubt the best for this reason.
Well worth the money, and my 3 kids under 8 enjoyed climbing all the steep stairs and visiting all the spaces.
Kyle Pezzolla
Well maintained and staffed with amazing veteran volunteers who love talking about the ship. I recommend getting the portable speaker to listen to the audio clips, which are numbered throughout the ship.
Sky W
The closer you get to this ship, the bigger you realize it is. The self-guided tour covers a small fraction of the levels inside, and it's over an hour for the main route. Really cool to see the different eras during which this ship has served, and the technology that aided the sailors.
michael cohen
Really cool and interesting. Read the signs and learn about an interesting part of American history. Better then expected.
Mazz man
Absolutely great place to check out for a day outting...Just amazingly kept ....and the guides are incredible.
Matthew Siegel
Great experience, must see if your in the area. Walked the ship from top to bottom, plenty to see, read and experience. Guides are all over to explain what you are seeing. Tickets are easy to purchase online or in person. Parking is close.
Joe Gonzo
First of all a must see in the area.
Go online and buy tickets, be prepared to spend 4-5 hours exploring the entire ship!
The staff is top notch! Very informative and extremely knowledgeable! I would give them 10 stars!
There is other tours and I would suggest them!
Pamela Gupta
Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. We all really enjoyed our visit, from grandkids to grandparents. Much respect to our veterans who spent time on this ship during war as well as those who have worked to preserve it. Look forward to visiting again to see more of the vessel; we only had time to do the green line tour. Impressive & majestic, and built right at the Navy Yard! One of the docents informed us that 40% of the workforce who built the ship were women!
michaelmvm 2828
interesting history and very cool to see the ship. there's a lot more space on this ship than we initially thought when coming here.
Chef David
Great staff Great 4th of July celebration. Great band!!
Joe Zangara
I highly recommend taking a guided tour. It is an amazing experience.
AL M
Great history. No crowds. No lines. Tour at your own pace...
BeardedTrucker302
2nd time I ever been there. I now have a family membership and my kids love going there.
chris ziemba
Above top notch. Ryan is very knowledgeable and I bet he really enjoys his job
Jason D'Amico
We went for the fireworks. They had live music and drinks. ++
The ship was definitely mobbed by other humans making the beer line way to long to get a reasonable buzz. --
Johnny Bolsch
Beautiful tour with a long, decorated history. Both my children loved it. It's amazing to know that this ship represents NJ, and how it earned the title of the most decorated battleship in our nation's history. Easy parking, and for a small donation someone from your party gets to fire the 50mm salute gun toward the Philly skyline. There are also several voluntary tour paths to walk. Be prepared and wear the right footwear; there are numerous bulkheads, walkways and ladders that are NOT built to walk the way you are accustomed to walking, they are built for utility, made compact, and don't have bright paint signifying small steps up and down. One of my guests was a child with special needs, but he was supervised closely and able to see everything, and truly enjoyed himself.
Timothy Egan
The family went there for the New Year Eve fireworks. Everything was very nice, not overly crowded at all. Great view of the fireworks. They had food and drinks for sale also. Very nice evening .
Amanda Day Sutnavage
Our family's favorite part of our trip to Philadelphia. We didn't have this planned but glad we took the tour. What an experience! My husband is a HUGE lover of all things history and we come from military families. He was able to fire the gun and see the types of places his dad and brother slept while they served. Touching that deck was something.... It was raw, real and will be cherished, not only by us adults, but our children as well.
Thank you for you service.
Olga Mazet
Why I am giving FOUR stars:
If you are into Navy history, you will enjoy the tour. We bought a guided tour: our guide was very professional and knowledgeable. Overall, the ship is magnificent.
BUT, one of the decks was closed due to icy conditions? Ticket price of course doesn’t reflect it. Instead, we were told a story so 90 minutes was worth spent.
Getting there. UBER riders, be careful. If you come from PA, New Jersey Uber drivers don’t want to take you back to Philadelphia. I don’t know why, but we had to wait for a while. Went to the gift shop to ask about Taxi options, the receptionist didn’t seem to care.
James Fitzhugh
Just wish I had more time to spend looking at everything. Awesome place to see and well worth the admission price.
Milko Mezarina
An awesome place to visit and experience the colosal battleship where once fellow heroes served proudly , we had such a great time of fun ,lots of information , learning , experience and exploring the many areas into the ship happy walking a lot with my family , from a very friendly staff to a descent meal and drinks but also great views
Ron Tappen
I can not believe how much of this ship is actually open to the public...my kids and i climbed into bunks, squeezed thru port holes into gun turrets, and alot more...just awesome!!!
Jerry Grill
Amazing piece of history. Spent over 3 hours and would have spent more time if they weren't closing.
Joe b
I went for the fireworks. They were great. They looked spectacular and were beautiful. We also took a tour and it was very nice and thorough. It took what I believed around 3hrs. Totally recommend.
Richard Dooley
Ship is on great shape. Guided or unguided tours avaliable. A tribute to those who served on Her.
Chris Ricciardi
Battle ship NJ was great. Got to wander a large percentage of the ship. There are a lot of well done, informative displays. You can go inside one of the large main turrets and one of the smaller turrets. You also get to go under a main turret to see how the supply chain works for loading. There is a tour of the engine room (included in base price ticket) that was really fascinating. In the engine room, you'll be 37 feet bellow water line. Over all this was a great experience and far better done then the air craft carrier in NY.
Lissette Lau
I've never been on a battleship before and this was really neat! There's so much to see on this self guided tour. Definitely a must see for anyone even mildly interested in battleships!
slibocker
This is absolutely worth a trip! They have opened up a lot more of the ship since I last visited years ago, you'll spend at least 2 hours on the self tour and most likely a lot more. Great views of Philly abound too. This is well worth the admission price!
Rupam Chaudhury
Amazing experience. Watched the fireworks on new years eve from the ship.
Brian
A wonderful walk through the mightiest battleship of the US Fleet. Lots to see and learn.
Lisa Missy
What a wonderful experience to have with my family, my sister two nieces ages 10 and eight and nephew 6. The battleship New Jersey is a Timeless reminder of the sacrifices of our Armed Forces throughout the ages it is a truly moving experience to go on board and read the stories, see the artifacts and walk and sit and pray in the same places so many soldiers have before. God bless you all and God bless the USA🚢🎆
Shari Tyler
The size of the battleship was enormous! A must see when you are in the area.
Trent Lytle
If you are a naval history junkie, retired Navy, active Navy or interested in military history, touring the New Jersey is a must. The volunteers onboard are friendly and knowledgeable and willing to answer your questions. There are four different tours to take as noted with colored paint on the deck. I took the green line tour and it was at least a couple of hours. So plan on spending most of the day onboard if you want to see the whole ship. The displays on the tour are easy to understand and informative. A lot of history onboard. A note for photographers, a wide angle lens is a must. I suggest 15mm but you may be able to get away with 24mm. A note for people that have a hard time getting around, there are several ladders to climb and bulkheads to step through and some of the passage ways can be narrow. Climbing up into some of the guns is a tight squeeze. Highly recommend a visit.
MrTiten1
I am a us navy veteran and really enjoyed my visit
Mark B
If you like military museums then this ship is a must. Staff was very friendly and willing to answer all our qustions.
Jacob Brower
After visiting adventure aquarium we went over to see the battleship. This is a great piece of history! They have volunteer veterans there with amazing experiences. I recommend this place!
Elsa Santiago
This is amazing history, I enjoyed every part of it.
Lotza Pop
An amazing experience on a historic battleship which includes a huge maze of historic displays
Angela B
This place is amazing. We went on a self guided tour and it took us 4 hours to complete. The ship is very well maintained and is so rich in history. I loved climbing through to different areas and seeing different things round every corner. My personal favorites were the barber shop, brig, dental and surgery area. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The gift shop is awesome as well. I can't wait to go back.
Frank Green
Fantastic experience. The New Jersey is an amazing ship. The tours cover the ship bow to stern and top to bottom.
Jason Phillips
Awesome place. Recomend your next trip here.
matt garofolo
Everything about it was great the people, tour, and quality of the experience was well worth it.
Maria Rosario
The employees are friendly. Exploring the ship was fantastic. Families that have children with sensory issues be prepared. There are lots of whirring, buzzing and occasional chiming sounds that my little ones found overwhelming. Parking is by the aquarium and costs $10. It takes several hours to explore the ship.
Patrick Guelcher
Great museum with lots to learn and sea about such a historical ship.
Mark G
Great place to visit. We did the self guided tour and took our time. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly even though we were not on a tour.
Jeff Rodeback
Excellent self-guided tours. Interesting and informative exhibits throughout. Good covid-19 precautions, felt very safe on board. Inside decks were open, good air conditioning on the inside decks for us wilting civilians. Neat to go in both the 16- and 5-inch turrets. Wish I'd had more time to read through more of the exhibits.
Eric S
An emotional and enjoyable experience. A historical adventure that I did not expect. A self-guided tour at your own pace. Lots to see and experience. May not be the best for the mobility challenged, but there were much older service members who still managed their way through on foot. Bless those who serve(d).
Juergen Heinrich
City on the seas, most impressive and variable historical informations. Good luck for the teams to preserbe this battleship!
Paul Dorsey
Great piece of history close to Delaware! Fantastic volunteers giving tours.

This place is amazing, took approximately two HOURS to explore 50-75% of the building. We did the green line to start with, then did the red. We didn't do the blue and purple lines. So big thing to know if you go!!!! (((((((( If you have a toddler, you will be in trouble, yes they have a play area, but THE SHIP IS NOT TODDLER PROOF)))))))) Obviously no strollers because you will be walking through hatches, they have large .5ft step in, so you will be watching the floor alot. I hit my head one time, so be extra careful. It HURT a lot. LOTS & LOTS OF STAIRS, STEEP STAIRS. If I didn't have my husband carrying out toddler, I would of turned around. There was a guy at the visitor center that checked us in and said our toddler would have to walk, I DISAGREE way too dangerous!!! They have alot of things blocked off, but god forbid they fell down the stairs or scooted under the ropes. This is informational review, but if it was the experience and the thing we saw 100% awesome. Love the people we ran into in the way in and out of the boat, some volunteers or retired vets. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!

Awesome boat.. we was blessed to explore on our own

Really great self guided tour! You could easily spend all day on this boat and still probably not read all the exhibits! Definitely take some allergy medicine if you're sensitive to dust etc. the ship is very clean and in great shape for its age but that being said there is only so much they can do for a ship so old. Everyone we met was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend it but also make sure your whole party has good mobility. there are lots of ladders and small stair cases etc
Kim Shugar
Our tour guide, Libbey, was well educated in every aspect of the battleship. She was kind, upbeat, and truly concerned that our group had a top notch experience! Thank you for the awesome adventure!!

The USS New Jersey is a fantastic part of history, and the self guided tours are great, but leave plenty of time to visit, you see a lot of the ship. They have overnight visits for the kids also! Check their website.

Wonderful place to visit, to touch real history, to feel the greatness of the Navy

USS Battleship New Jersey is a historic ship and one worth while to see. Quality service from volunteers, crew and veterans alike! It is well maintained considering the wars it has fought and has a great amount of information to see. The ship is fun for all ages, but does require some mobility to navigate considering the lip of the entrances within the ship. My husband and I came from Chicago to tour the battleship. We had an awesome experience and highly recommend it!
Nancy Matos
An awesome place to visit with family, just be prepared to walk a lot.
Ryan “HugMyTibbers” Kwon
Absolutely amazing experience

The "Big J" is the largest as most decorated battleship in history! The looked like it could put to sea anytime. The guides were helpful and informative. Highly recommended...
Marie Sin
Love visiting. They recently added a little kids tour and playroom and my kids loved it.
Nicolette Weil
Toured on the fourth of July and stayed for the fireworks! Absolutely a blast and 💯% recommend to do on a bucket list! It was awesome! …
Spencer Berghahn
Great shape and the tour guides were very informative. A great historical sight that. Took about 4 hours to go through the whole ship, doing every tour.
Geek Cornucopia
Definitely a must see attraction! As to be expected, if you have mobility issues you likely won't be able to negotiate the tour path.(it's a warship after all). Don't pass up the chance to tour this legendary battleship!
Sean Hazleton
The greatest time ever. Our guide was excellent.
Ivelisse Vazquez
We had a great time exploring. It took us almost 3 hours to decide to leave because we wanted to see every possible inch of the battleship. A memory we will treasure for a long time. So many great photo opps. Lovely staff, very helpful. We may just have to go back next year once they reopen.
Ashley Vanderpoel
Super cheap for what you get! Has 4 different routes you can take. There is a lot to see! Guides throughout are very helpful and friendly. They also have a small hot dog spot by the mess hall, very good. They shoot off a few times throughout as well! Must see! Also interactive.
Dennis Smith
New Year's Eve fireworks show at 6:00 p.m. and midnight. Ticket price has remained the same for years, at $10 per ticket. You can look around at some of the battleships museum, there are food and beverages, also there is a bar. A bar. Every year. They also do a raffle, the winner chosen gets to fire off the 5-in gun to ring in the new year! Year! If you win, you are brought to a private day to view the fireworks and then fire the gun. If you win, they also give you a certificate. That means you as an unremember of the battleship New Jersey gun crew

My son and I went with the cub Scouts and had a great time. What a magical experience. The staff was excellent, without exception. Knowledgeable and willing and excited to answer every question a six/seven/eight year old had to ask. The faces while we had a guided tour were awesome. Both kids and adults. I would not hesitate to go back.
Jouni Rautio
Very interesting visit. Spend several hours onboard, self guided tour, would spend couple of hours more. Very reasonable price for ticket, nearby parking carage was priced ok too.
Jenn Rocchi
A great experience walking through a real battleship. So much history! Steep steps and its a bit of tight spaces with a musty smell that may bother some folks. If you're interested in military history its definitely worth a visit!!

First the good stuff - being able to explore this awesome ship was a great experience. You can really spend a lot of time walking around many different levels (you have to be able to climb steps) and seeing many different rooms and memorabilia. You go on a self-guided tour and there are plenty of signs to direct you and give you information on the ship and its history.
My kids loved climbing into the bunks the sailors slept in and checking out the brig! There were also many volunteers on the ship - veterans from different wars - who were eager to answer questions and share anecdotes.
The negative - it's in Camden. There is nothing around it (the aquarium is down the block, but we skipped that because it's the hellish parking situation). We literally parked in an alley next to train tracks & containers (DO NOT pay extra for the "VIP parking" it only brings you 50 feet closer to the dock in a 15 car lot). The ship needs some maintenance. The deck seems to be rotting in some places and some of the displays need some spiffing up.
I'm glad we got a chance to go (we used a Philly City Pass & stopped in on our way home), but we are unlikely to make a second visit here. Great to experience a piece of history, though.
jeffm9770
The tours were easy to follow and it seems you get to see a lot of the ship and get a feel for what it was like to live on the ship.
Misty Haji-Sheikh
We had a great time. Note: since it is a ship visitors need to be able to climb many stairs that are more like ladders.
Colonel Austin Collins (MAC)
For a Commie State and Anti-Gun as well as loads of illegals, I guess the Battleship was ok. They should move the ship though to a more patriotic state. Not that all it's people aren't patriotic. Just that many aren't and of course it's politicians are extreme with views.
John Pirro
Great ship to visit. The staff are friendly. The exhibits are well maintained and the history of Battleship NJ spans multiple conflicts and eras. It's a must see for fans of history. Vday (August 14th) has a Japanese Zero fly over with simulated flak fire and smoke trails from the pilot.
Vera Charlot
Great experience for two Air Force veterans and our two Clemson college students!
Ryan Moseley
Worth the price of admission 100 times over!
Shruthi Rao
It was amazing to see a real battleship.. would like to visit again and probably try their camping option
Nick Kapur
A (not so) hidden gem!!! A MUST VISIT for all ages if you are in the Philadelphia area!
This is BY FAR the best "museum ship" I've been on. It is positively HUGE, and unlike other museum ships which only let you into a few areas, this one let's you have free run of most of the ship! You can take a self-guided tour, either with audio or without, or you can pay to be guided by an expert tour guide. If you do the self-guided tour, you follow a line of red tape up, down, and all around the guns, super-structure, and below decks. But if you still have time, don't forget to continue on to the blue line that takes you even deeper into the ship below the waterline!
Another great thing about this ship is it is not just an empty ship. Most of the rooms on the tour are fully outfitted with furniture, tools, equipment, and personal items, so you really get a sense of what it was like to be on the ship when it was still in service. There is also an incredibly detailed museum section that tells you all about the history of the USS New Jersey as well as battleships in general.
This ship is suitable for people of all ages and interests, and is enthralling to children. The only note of caution is that there are no elevators or accommodations for people with limited mobility - it's a battleship after all.
Jay Wheeler
It is a great historical place to visit. Layer out very well. Self guides your gives you the opportunity to look at things more than once. Plenty of seats along the way ... it is a long walk ,Just a Heads up. Pretty cool to stand in places the Admiral stood and to see Admiral's, Captains quarters, Crew quarters and gun turrets and Helicopter. ... Well done Crew!
Ruizhe Yang
I visited on a workday morning, ended up being the only visitor for the whole ship. Very nice staff. Everyone on board were nice and ready to answer any question you might have. I did the self-guided tour and was able to climb into the astern battery. The exhibit throughout the tour are organized well, so you'll get a very good understanding of the ship's history. I think I'll come back for the firepower tour which can let you in the forward battery.
Andy Guerriero
This is such an awesome and educational experience. I'd recommend it to anyone, from children to adult, from serious military history buffs to just casually interested folks. The displays in the on board museums are a good mixture of ship history in the context of the conflicts and deployments. Everything is expertly maintained by volunteers and staff.

The 3rd of the 4 Iowa class ship I've got the privilege to visit and just as marvelous as the Wisconsin and the Missouri! If you have visited any one of these ships don't hesitate to visit the others as each ship has its own historic story. I wish they were still in service but I'm grateful that the are being restored as museum ships!
Jamie M
Overwhelmingly huge and extensive museum. You could be here for multiple days to see everything and go on additional tours. I'm very glad I got to visit.
Laurel Barrett
Great piece of history. Parts of the ship look like it is still ready for battle. I liked how easy the lines were to follow and they enforced masks inside the ship. From a healthcare professional thank you!
Emilee O'Leary
Incredible experience. Museum alone is a good 1 hr of your time... Advise to plan for at least 2 hours, especially if you're doing the self guided tour. They have mini free tours going on throughout the day, so might be worth checking that out beforehand to schedule your arrival appropriately.
John Moorhouse
I know the crew and support The Battleship. The tours and guides are incredibly knowledgeable. This Museum and Memorial is constantly being updated - they just added an engine room tour. It is truly a fascinating and important piece of US naval history. Rain or shine, lots to see and do.
Chris DeHoyos
Went there with Scouts and it was an awesome experience! The kids and adults had a great time.
Frank Roulstone
I enjoyed my visit to this historic ship. Very friendly helpful staff, lots to see and great views from the ship too. A must see for history buffs or anyone wanting a window in to a different era. Able to enter many parts of the ship including the gun turrets. Thankful to have lived in a time where my military service was un needed. Being in those turrets in the heat of battle is unfathomable.
Cory S
Amazing Tour, first time on an Iowa-Class. No way to see everything in one day, and I'll definitely be coming back
Matthew Patrick Hill Vlogs
A glance in history and educational experience and amazing feats of engineering and structural of battleships of the past great people I love history and that was the right place to do with that and I also like hands on based material. The people that run it or passed Navy people and veterans that served on the ship and volunteers that dedicate their time for the beautiful thing that the world has given!
Dallas Phillips
Alot of history learned today. Couldn't imagine how loud those Guns must have sounded during the war. A must tour.
Corey Marsee
This was one of my favorite places to go while I was in New Jersey. So much history can be found on this ship. Very interactive for the kids. Just a warning to those with little ones. You must be able to walk on your own and be able to climb stairs. They do not allow strollers or anything like that for the kids. So be prepared for that also it is self toured so you can stay as long as you want to see everything.
envitech02
Hi I'm from Malaysia. Huge warship fan here. And no, I haven't visited this ship yet. But I have visited the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi and USS JFK in San Diego. After the pandemic is over, I'd love to come over to visit. Big shout-out to Ryan and his volunteers for their tireless efforts to keep the ship in pristine condition.
John Tiessen
This is a great place to stop and enjoy the history of one of the United States great ships. The exhibits are informative and well maintained but could use significant updates. Parts of the ship need extensive repair and repainting but this is expected considering that the site seems to have its staff stretched thin. A good place to visit but could be great with some minor (or suppose major given the cost) improvements.
Jaclyn Borek
Watched the Naturalization ceremony. Very touching. The playing of the Star Spangled Banner was great
Brian Skuzinski
This is a very cool museum that we got a custom and private tour of late at night do to awesome doing some ghost hunting. The tour guides were extremely nice very helpful and took us every place we wanted to see on the boat. We also got a good rest oreck rundown on how the but was run and got the chance to see every part of the boat. It wasn't very good for ghost hunting as only one person was killed ever on the New Jersey but it was great for it's historical value.
Albert Denovellis
One of the greatest places I have ever visited. Being a military history buff myself, it was a truly amazing experience to be on the greatest battleship of all time and meet some of the men who served on it. It is just across the bridge from Philly, and easily accessed from other areas. Just a fair warning, choose when you go wisely. It can become quite hot inside in the summer. Other than that, it is an amazing experience in a beautifully restored (and the guides are nice to) U.S.S New Jersey.
Edward Farrell
Great adventure, Some tight spaces and ladders/stairs to climb up and down 😎 …
SriKrishna Narla
A very unique experience. Expect lot of climbing, the steps are very steep. I have gone with my 9 month infant. I had to carry her all the time.
Carry ample water with you. There are no vending machines inside the ship. The cafe was closed on a weekday.
The parking is 10 dollars. There is no street parking. The whole Camden is a rip off for parking.
The views from the battleship are really nice. If you are a fit person, you would certainly enjoy it. There is lot of history in the battleship.
My son loved the gift store. He got a miniature ship and I got few magnets.
Kimberly G.
Had an awesome experience here! Beyond happy that we got our own personal tour guide from my dad, who was a former sailor that served 3 years on this ship. And thanks to the volunteers that made our experience that more special. We had a blast!
Sam Goldwater
We visited the battleship New Jersey over Easter weekend 2021. The ship was an amazing sight, first time I’ve ever seen an Iowa class battleship in person and man is she a sight. The staff were super friendly, I could have used 2 more days to tour the ship. We I recommend making a donation and firing one of the 5 inch guns. The money goes to helping restore and maintain the ship. They were doing a great job practicing social distancing and covid practices with the crazy world we are in these days
Chuck Benslay
We had a great time touring the battleship! My wife and I talked about it a lot on our drive back to Indiana. There is so much to see and you get to see most of the ship. Be prepared to walk a lot of you take all of the color codes routes. There was a lot of displays about the ship and its history in several battles. I highly recommend this to anyone that has any interest in what our armed forces do to keep us safe!
If this review was helpful, please give it a 👍.

Took our kids there. Had to see the whole ship. Lots of history. Ask as many questions as possible. The crew that works the ship are just about all Vets. Very knowledgeable about the ship and how everything worked.
Dave Wynne
There for a cigar dinner, great time, great site, great friends, atmosphere made event 100 times better.
Dave Clemens
Great piece of our history to walk through and get a feeling of what life was like onboard without the war. Make sure you bring something to drink/eat because on our weekday trip nothing was available onboard. Also where comfortable footwear.
Jean-Francois Désilets
Please plan lots of time. Reading all the information posted would take 3 hours. Very well done display and vets to talk to.
Livia Ribeiro
The ship is closed due to Covid however, the museum is offering a few tours in the evening! Our tour guide was Ryan. He was a 10 out of 10. We were lucky, there were only 3 of us in our group. Ryan was very patient with our requests and our questions! But above all he was extremely knowledgeable about the content and his presentation skills made it very easy for me to understand!
Daniel Shannon
Loved it had a great time. What an experience. Living History that everyone should visit.
