Reviews of Bunker Hill Museum
Ethan Lindstrom
Great spot to learn about one of the important early battles in the revolutionary war. It is just across the street from the obelisk.
There are displays about the battle (including a detailed diorama that has audio narration of the battle and lights highlighting the areas as the story pregresses), the historical context leading up to the war, and the history of the Monument and the Charlestown area.
The museum has junior ranger books and the national park stamp.

went this weekend while visiting boston with family and had fun! the museum is very nice and informative, you can learn a lot that you didn’t learn in school; there is also a small visual representation where you hear an audio and see where each event took place! i believe there was a drawing station before covid but there are some drawings; unfortunately we didn’t walk up the monument since it had snowed the day before. would recommend for people into american history and it’s free 😁

The monument is currentely closed for climbing, so dont plan to climb it! All in all a great park though. Its cool to sit on the hill and watch the fireworks, or too chill under a shady oak tree. Sometimes its like a mini dog park!
Wade Williams
Tiny museum right next to the monument. Great historical site.

The Bunker Hill Museum is worth attending just for the detailed dioramas of battle. It is one thing to read about the battle. It is entirely another to see the landscape as it was at the time, the way the redoubt was built, and the way the battle played out. You gain a more visceral understanding of how pyrrhic the British victory was that day.
There are other attractions worth your time if you are a history enthusiast - stories of those who participated in the battle, artifacts, and more. The dioramas are great for everyone, though, and even my 6 and 9-year-old found them interesting and informative.

Lots of history to be had here. Very informative ranger greets you. Diorama of the battle and break down of what led to the battle. Public restrooms down stairs!
Douglas Hoffman
This museum is fairly small, but it's nice and tells the stories of the Battle of Bunker Hill and of the city of Charlestown neatly and efficiently. The building is lovely, the party rangers are helpful, and the admission is free. Parking in the vicinity of Bunker Hill is difficult, but that's not the fault of the park service.

Nice museum. Lots of history. You can get your child their junior ranger badge from here. You can rest here after all the walking as well as use restrooms and buy souvenirs tools
Matt LeBlanc
Very tiring but a nice site. I encourage you to go. You just might need strong legs ☺️.
Mickey Tallent
Solid place to get an understanding of the battle. Decent diorama with narration of the battle. My favorite part was the recreation of the Tremont Avenue Cyclorama that gave a good impression of what the battle was at the climatic moment when the British penetrated the Patriot redoubt in the third assault. To see it look up when you enter the room at the top of the stairs.
Tyler Christie
Great monument to add perspective to history. Admission to it and the next door museum is free. Advice: visit the museum first then the monument. The ~50 some odd stairs in the museum will be torture after the 300 in the monument and distract you from appreciating the content. Witnessed the demonstration by the actors. They were very knowledgeable. Highly reccomended.

The museum has great information. and the parks service employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. I wouldn't say this a great place for small kids, as the museum is mostly reading information. There is also a small gift shop.
Martin Whimp
Great place full of history guide was excellent we did the 296 steps on a clear day photos will be great .
Matthew Laurin
Pretty cool monument with history markers, gift shop, reenactments, and old paintings. You can climb to the top of the monument (which isn’t for the faint of heart).
Great place to visit if you’re looking for history stops in Boston.
Brian Hacker
Bunker hill makes so much more sense after climbing it myself. And don't forget the museum while you are up here. It's on the right at the bottom of the steps.
Sol Mitchek
Excellent walking uphill to the monument 🤌🏾love the neighborhood and the view of the city 🌆
Mark Fitch
What a super memorial to our country's finest citizens. They fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy today.
The museum has great pictures and scale models of the battle. Proud to be a descendant of these great Americans.
Nick Layne
Loved the museum had a lot to do with my city's history during the American Revolution. The museum had a lot of information on the battle. They also had a light up mini battle field with sound affects. Overall pretty good 👍.
Carl B
Very nice monument worth a visit if you are in the area. Close to the USS Constitution to 😁👍 …
Kallie Motola
Great NPS run informational museum and gift shop along the freedom trail
Johnathan Farrington
Museum is loaded with information and has a lot of cool bits and pieces of history inside as well. Definitely worth checking out.
The gift shop had a great selection including the typical gift shop items such as coasters, ornaments, and magnets.
I would be lying if I said the staff were top notch, the gentleman at the information desk was rude and not very helpful. However the girl who helped me out at the Monument was great, very friendly and knew what she was talking about.
I most certainly recommend the museum to you, it is free for those wondering, whether you plan to climb the tower or not.
John Pishotta
No cost to get in. As the guy at the entrance said - "price of admission is included in your taxes."
Con Burnes
Great free museum located just across the road from the Bunker Hill Monument. If you plan on climbing the monument then this is where you obtain the timed tickets from. I would suggest that you ask for around 15 minutes to get over the road and up the hill to the entrance of the monument, I'm not as young as I use to be so it was a bit of a rush. There are some good displays in here.
Eric Steadman
The museum is pretty ok. The view from the monument is amazing, but the 294 stairs to the top are a little rough. Also plan carefully, because the monument and the museum are only open from 9-5, on account of their being government establishments.
Carolyne Volpe Curley
I would love to give this site a 4 star review - but it needed a film presentation in order for me to do that. I expect more from noteworthy National Park locations. I did not go across to the monument, only to the Museum. Upstairs there is a recreation of the battle accompanied with an audio presentation so be sure to turn that on so you have some idea of the history behind the day.
There is an original Red Coat drum on display so be sure to find it.
Anthony Steele
Nice monument to check out.
Alaine Landers
Go talk to my man David Hannigan at this museum before your stroll on Bunker Hill. He is an amazing,
interesting Irish American who loves his Boston. 7/8/21.
Kristine Murray
Excellent displays and friendly staff to help understand the start of the revolutionary war.
Amelia Bedelia
The museum is small but packed with information. It's also free and has public restrooms!
Brian G (B)
We attended the Bunker Hill Museum and obelisk site. Contrary to popular belief, the Bunker Hill site is actually on Breed Hill. Bunker Hill is on the same side as Breed Hill, and is below the church tower about 1000 feet away. Inside the visitor hall is a National Park Service ranger named Bill Parrow, who gave us some insight to Bunker Hill's notoriety. Using a rubber ball to simultate cannon ball ammunition, we saw the cannon that was used to defend the Hill from the British. The obelisk is a climbing activity, and has 294 steps to climb. Not for the faint of heart, the staircase was made from the local quarry, all of the rock that was available. The Breed Hill obelisk was also the model for the Washington Monument. Inside the Museum, one can find walking sticks, candle holders, lanterns with candle placements, replicas of the U.S. Constitution, and weapons of the Revolutionary period.
Geoff Fabron
Small but well laid out museum with plenty of information displays. There are a number of very nice diromas of Bunker Hill.
Dan Rembert
Very cool place! A quick stop in while walking by turned in to an hour or two. So much information and several artifacts to see. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Stephen Howard
The diorama (and voiceover for it) on the top floor is amazing, worth the visit for that alone.
Kat Edwards
Good historical place to visit. If you go to the top, be sure you are ready for just shy of a 300 steps climb. Everyone should do it at least once though.
Chris T
Very nice museum packed with a lot of history and artifacts. I would recommend stoping here if you plan on going to the monument to learn more about the historical meaning of the monument.
Tony T
Nice history behind this monument. The museum has a full interactive display along with some artifacts from the battle that happened there!

Definitely worth the time to honor and uphold the sacrifice of so many brave souls who formed and founded our country.
This is provided by tax dollars, with no admission fee. Take advantage of it!

Small museum with the history of Charlestown and the Battle of Bunker Hill. The 2nd floor is more interesting than the first and contains a narrated timeline with diorama of the battle.

The museum was good but there isn't much beyond wall murals with text to read.

No elevator... long walk, 294 steps, just your everyday stone slab obelisk. Not very impressive tbh.

Awesome view from the top of the tower but is very hard to get all those steps 😂 …
