Reviews of Moss Mansion Museum
Such a beautiful piece of history to visit. The guides and workers are such lovely individuals. All willing to chat and talk about the mansion.
I had a wonderful time walking through each individual room. I cannot even imagine what it would have been like to live in such a grand home.
It has been beautiful preserved from every detail inside to all the details on the outside.
A must see if you come to Billings!
We greatly appreciated the walk through of Moss Mansion Museum. There is some great history there and glad to see all the Moss family photos. We are from California on a 15 state 35 day vacation. Seeing North West it's so lovely up this way Thank you.
Just visited outside for a Adventure Lab we were doing. Didn't have time to take the tour, but would love to come back someday and do it. The house and grounds are lovely.
I'm not sure how much the tour is due to the fact I didn't check.
Honestly did not know a lot of the facts about this place and who started billings. It was super fun going on a guided tour and learn everything about the place. I loved the pink rooms as I only took pics of them haha. Thank you to rich our tour guide, all of most of the questions we asked were answered. Highly recommend if you wanna know a little bit about billings and how it began. I grew up here and learned so much! Beautiful building and well kept still!
This home and the history of early Billings was pretty fascinating. Roxanne was a very enthusiastic docent. You can tell she loves the home and the history behind it. All that staff was very warm and welcoming.
Such a beautifully maintained and detailed mansion. Staff was super friendly! I highly recommend making the stop and taking the neighborhood walking tour!
We visited Moss Mansion while visiting Billings during a road trip across the USA in 2019. Was very well kept and maintained. A definite stop on next trip to Montana
Wonderful historical site! The staff was the best and the restoration and upkeep were top notch and among the best.
Absolutely breath taking and stunning. Wish we could have seen the third floor but we loved everything we seen throughout the mansion. It's worth exploring if you love antiquity and victorian charm
Hidden gem right next to downtown. Beautiful grounds and a truly amazing house! The interior is even more magnificent and the guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The indoor greenhouse was our favorite part and they had a wondeful scavenger hunt for the kids to hold their interest. A must see if you are in town!
Excellently restored and conserved historic mansion of one of the movers and shakers of early Billings. We opted for the guided tour today and it was excellent. Joel was our tour guide and he was a wealth of information about the house and family and presented the tour in an entertaining manner. I'd recommend going when it first opens (10AM most days... but not open on Tuesdays), taking the guided tour and then strolling a bit more around the house and gardens. In all we were there for a couple of hours.
We had family in town last week and visited the Moss Mansion. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and provide great insight on the facts of the home and the family. Their gift shop is a little pricey but that’s because they source their items locally and support local vendors. This place is definitely worth a visit, even if it’s just to enjoy the gorgeous greenhouse.
You could have a tour guided or just go through the Mansion which is totally beautiful! watch a video before you start. Very informative about the Moss family who had a great vision for Billings Montana.
Very fun, just like clue but in person. If your looking for something to do for a date night or to do something with your significant other That's fun, I'd recommend clue at the moss mansion. My wife and I have done it twice now and have very much enjoyed it both times
Nice quick visit if you're visiting the town - open on Mondays when most other places are closed. Knowledgeable and friendly staff taught me a lot about the interesting Moss family. Took me less than 40 mins to look around. There was 1 room under renovation when I visited.
We Went for the "Haunted Mansion" Tour. (early edition - more kid friendly) but it wasnt spooky enough for me so I added some spooks to my photos to liven it up a bit. I really enjoyed the Nostalgia of the mansion. the back story of the Moss Family was very intriguing. I had also just watched a series about haunted houses that put me in the mood for a haunted spin on the Moss Mansion. It was a great experience for my 5 year old son. (not too spooky for him). overall it was a great exerience. We will be back for the Christmas Tours.
I have never seen anything like it! The house is so well preserved, it feels like you are stepping into the past. Well worth the fee to take a guided tour. We spent about 1 1/2 hours looking around.
I loved it here. They have done an amazing job with recreating the original house using original pieces. The entrance is through the basement. The only bad thing is the parking. Because of where they are located there is only street parking which is limited.
I love old mansions and this one was one of the better ones. Impeccably well maintained, large, and the tour guide was excellent and really knew her stuff.
Beautiful place to visit. Self guided tour works well because everything is labeled so well
Very interesting and well worth a visit. The staff eas do friendly and knowledgeable.
Beautiful home, well taken care of. A must-see when visiting Billings. I especially loved the the girls bedroom-so much detail. The grounds are gorgeous.
Have taken multiple tours during my time as a Girlscout leader and with homeschool groups while homeschooling my son. Have never had a bad tour yet, but I always come away with more information based on different guides which I really love. Well done. Always interesting and educational!
Did a tour today. What a beautiful house… Bill is such a great human being. He was very knowledgeable about the details of this house. Will be back again!
Wonder and interesting museum. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I wanted to propose to my girlfriend there and the staff were very accommodating and helpful in setting everything up.
Got married here in September 2013. The grounds were amazing, staff was super helpful, and the ambiance of the place made the whole day that much more special for us.
I have been here several times. They do a Harry Potter theme night. It is really fun. They do a great job hosting it. Coming up with the games. I will continue to go to the fun game night events. The cost is different depending on the event. The last time it was high because there were drinks.
Nice little tour. Such a beautiful home. Love old buildings/houses.
One of the best historic mansion tours I have ever done. Our tour guide Joel was very knowledgeable and knew lots of information about individual family members which made the tour more personable. Definitely take a tour.
What an amazing experience! Such a great tour! We had the best guide and he was so kind!
Haunted tour was great! Good fun in a neat atmosphere.
Do the guided tour then wander around on your own. Loved the tour and house
Such a beautiful house! Horror Theater is so much fun every year!
Great fun and so interesting going to the trunk and treasure tour.
The indoor greenhouse was our favorite part and they had a wonderful scavenger hunt for the kids to hold their interest.
This was a really neat place! We were there for about an hour and there was no one else, beside the guides, there. It was so cool. I highly recommend going if you get the chance!
Easy to find. We love these old places. Friendly staff, easy to talk to. And they offered self tour, which you can go at your own pace. A video you watch before you start, so you kind of know the short story.
Really worth the visit, the amount of detail inside the home combined with the insight of the tour guide leaves you feeling inspired.
Well worth the visit! Wandering around the beautiful old mansion was really enjoyable, and the friendly docents were full of interesting stories and information. They could not have been nicer to our kids, which we appreciated. Highly recommended!
The guided tour was excellent, Joel definitely has a passion for the house and it's history. I highly recommend visiting the mansion.
Love the tour of the home and Halloween celebration there
Great museum with very knowledgeable docents. I have toured the mansion 4 times but this is the first time at night. I wouldn't do this one again as you just can't see hardly anything with just the trees on and no lights. Even seeing the tree decorations are hard to see. I will be back again for a day toour.
The rooms were beautiful. The whole mansion costed 105,000 dollars to build. My guide was very nice and explanatory.
Is amazing home and unique in that it's completely original.
The outside is well maintained. Sadly, we showed up when it was closed.
A great way to learn more about Billings. The mansion is lovely and you can take as much time as you want on the self-guided tour. Highly recommend.
Always an enjoyable experience, and their events are unbelievably fun for kids and adults alike.
We did not go inside as we were there when it was closed. It was still nice to walk on the grounds and see the house from the outside.
It must take a huge amount of work to maintain this house and grounds and to keep all of the building looking authentic.
This is a great area of Billings and a neat area to explore. It has lots of old homes that look to have a great history. Most of the homes in the area are really well cared for. A great place for a summer bike ride.
Loved walking thru this Historical Home. Both the Home and the Grounds are Beautiful. Lots of History.
I’ve spent several days off here throughout the summer and even had the opportunity to volunteer at one of their events. The staff are fantastic and the house is beautiful. Well worth the visit!
Went to the Moss Mansion for the Clue Murder Mystery night and it was WONDERFUL! The game was creative and well organized, and could not have had a better venue. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and courteous. We will definitely being coming back and doing this again in the future (hopefully when they are able to offer the dinner along with it again) I would highly recommend stopping here even if it's not for the Clue game and just to tour, it's too beautiful not to see!
Wow... this was a great stop. Absolutely loved it
This is a beautiful house and an amazing place to visit, worth every dollar of the $10.00 they charge! The tour guide was engaging and informative and the vast majority of the floors and wall coverings and furnishings were original. It almost feels like the spirits of the family are very much there still. Highly recommended. There is not a lot nearby to get refreshments so make sure you are not wanting lunch ! The gardens are lovely to sit in on a nice day and the historic walk which takes about half an hour is delightful.
I went to the spring festival and it was incredible! I got a full experience of all different products and everyone was incredibly nice! I loved getting to tour the mansion it was like a time travel experience I can't wait to go back!
SpringFest 2022 was the best ever. Mrs. Moss would have been delighted by the gathering and the music. Well done!
Very nice. Guides helpful and practice good safety precautions
Good tour guide, very personal staff, neat gift shop- a nice option on our road trip.
Love it!!! Roxanne was very informative!!! I love the way she gave you freedom to enjoy it!!! Roxanne Rocks!!!😁❤️🦊
I am working on a photography project for school and I called Moss Mansion and asked if I could come by at different times of the day and take photos. They told me it was just fine and that I was welcome to come as much as I needed.
Our tour guide Allie was super nice and very informative. She made the experience of viewing this beautiful house much more enjoyable. Love that you can actually go through each room instead of just looking from the door in like they have it at other museums. Definitely a must see when visiting Billings, Montana
The building is beautiful, what you could see of it. We went for the first time to see it on a Christmas light night, couldn't see the architecture of the mansion, to dark. Running behind schedule to get in.
So beautiful!!!!! So much history!!!! Thank you for the great tour
We went there in August. Loved the tour and would definitely do that again! The staff was super nice and informative. Bought a recipe book from gift shop and am enjoying the recipes.
This is a wonderful historic home. It is rich with history from back when Billings was up and coming. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable. My favorite time of year to go is during Christmas when every room is decorated with a different theme.
Enjoyed the tour and video. So much history here.
Love older homes like this
Went for the Christmas tree event. So pretty! The staff was also amazing and so helpful. I'm looking forward to going to one of their other events!
See my Valentine Date Post Later today for details!! Perfect place for a romantic tour, a little insider information about the family that "Built Billings", and a gift shop where you can surprise your favorite lady with a "Heart of Gold mystery locket. Five Star Fabulous!!
Great tour and tour guides. Lots of history that I didn't know about and I have lived here most of my lufe. Would love to be able to live in that house even today. The original furniture was amazing and I also would have liked to have that today. Especially the desk in Mr. Mosses den/office.
Wonderfully Landscaping manicured grounds . A downtown Billings treasure ! Great historical building. Plan to park in the street. House is wonderful, and the tour guides are helpful, friendly, and full of knowlege. Nice little gift wrap down below in the basement where the tour starts. Worth the time and money!
OMG OMG OMG
The house was beautiful amazing and special! Definitely a required landmark but can I just say that the staff and docents stood out to me more than anything. They are amazing people. They literally walked side by side step by step from the beginning of the tour to the end. They all really brought out the spirit of this beautiful home. From the lady that told us she took over the responsibility of cleaning dusting and watering the plants in the atrium , to the young lady who told us secret stories that are special to her...even the interesting details about the furniture, some of which is petty to look at but difficult to sit in... just a pleasure and appreciated. A must visit and linger:)
I go to the Halloween theater every year and it's always been amazing! i totally don't reccomend letting middle schoolers go by themselves its a little too mature for them
Beautiful historic house. It is well maintained and tour guides are friendly and informative. They have seasonal programs set up there. Christmas trees from organizations to vote on, Halloween spook house, etc. Can also be rented for certain personal events. It’s a beautiful home and full of Billings history
I've been to the outside of it many times over the years. Beautiful definitely from that view.
Haven't been to the inside since l was a kid. I'm sure it's even more so.
The moss mansion was voted a while ago or part of a book of the 50 most beautiful houses in america
Clue Murder Mystery at the Moss Mansion. Great fun in a one of a kind venue. The staff was great and made every effort to keep the environment COVID safe. Highly recommend giving it a try.
Went to the murder mystery dinner and it was wonderful. Great location, wonderful food, and amazing hosts.
A REAL BIG HOUSE.
What a neat place to visit. Everything is well maintained starting from the exterior/lawn to the interior. Highly recommend for someone who loves history. Very educational and staff did an excellent job of providing facts.
The house itself is really pretty and worth checking out, but the real gem is all the original pieces around the house that the family owned. It's just like stepping back in time! Well worth the price of admission!
Interesting place, beautiful woodwork.
Mostly original with excellent volunteers to give you information. Worth a look through.
We love to visit the Moss Mansion. It's an amazing building. And the staff has so much knowledge on the history of the building. And the Moss family. We enjoy their special events.
We spent two hours on a self guided tour. Loved it.
Beautiful mansion with interesting interior decorating. I wish I'd had more than an hour to enjoy it more fully. Helpful docents, friendly staff, beautiful decorations.
They call it a moss museum but when I start throwing moss around the place they kickme out. ??????????
Your welcome this place is awesome 10/10
Loved the haunted house a few years ago you guys do a great job. And deserve more credit then you get.
Ok now this place has an amazing history attached to it...although they say it's haunted, I personally didn't get any photos of ghosts or feel anything but contentment. I'd definitely recommend this to tourists
We are very lucky to have this beautiful historic place right here in billings. The christmas tours are great. They also host many events ourltdoors and its always a great time.
Absolutely gorgeous house with well informed volunteer historians! If you can. Definitely take the guided tour! $15 is definitely worth it!
It was awesome, great experience and lots of information on the history. By the way both me and my daughter enjoyed it.
Really cool mansion. Lots to learn about Billings and surrounding history. Price for self guided tour is way too high ($12 to even see the inside of the house). Price for guided tour is about right ($15)
So beautiful and full of history! Amazing volunteers who are not only knowledgeable, but very friendly. Made this out-of-towner feel welcome!
Sandy Short was a great tour guide. Very informative and passionate about the mansion. Highly recommend the guided tour as Sandy's knowledge really enhanced the experience.
Beautiful place. We are going back again. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. It is worth seeing.
Loved it, inspiring, unique, vintage, place to visit. I'd recommend it to everyone interested in old town history.
Great place, I took my wife to see it. She enjoyed it very much.
A historic center piece to Billings, MT. The Mansion hosts various events throughout the year but always with an eye on the community. Well maintained and knowledgeable staff make this an interesting and educational stop for tourist and local alike.
Affordable entry fee with option of guided tour or walk through on your own. Staff were around to answer questions. They offered student, veteran and active duty discounts.
Really cool old house that has been wonderfully preserved. The staff was very knowledgeable about the history. Very worthwhile tour.
Beautiful facility and the staff was very informative. We could tell that the guide really loved her job. Such a nice visit.
The Mansion is an old family house built in 1906 by one of the early benefactors of Billings, MT. P.B. Moss built his family home on the outskirts of a growing frontier town. Mansion decor and display is maintained by a dedicated, educated staff that offer tours, lectures and information of Billings history.
This is a must see. Well worth the $12 fee. Advise everyone to pay the extra $3 for a guided tour. They tell the story and answer all questions. Again it is a MUST SEE.
The tour took almost two hours, and we didn't mind at all! Lots of history here. Very enjoyable and educational experience.
A very very beautiful home. So full of diffrent styles. Magnificent and charming. If you havnt been on a tour try one. You will not be disappointed.
