Reviews of Port Discovery Children's Museum
Abby Chavis
My 5 year old loved playing in the diner and with the small conveyor belts! Super clean and staff was friendly. Great price! It has lots to offer. A couple exhibits seemed to be closed but we will definitely be back and we highly recommend. We visited Friday April 1st at 10am
Natalie Gottlieb
We went on a $5 community day and my kids (ages 4, 3, 1.5) had a BLAST. There was so much for them to see and do, and when they started getting overstimulated, there were “quiet spaces” with things like puzzles and books to reset. I appreciated that there were staff all over, and they were so friendly and helpful. My girls got scared climbing the slide, and staff members climbed up to help them down. Also, the way the space is designed, it’s basically impossible for parents to be checked out, so we had no issues with other kids because their parents were right there and engaged the whole time (unlike at the playgrounds where parents are off on their phone and oblivious to their kid bullying other kids). That alone was a huge gift to me with my littles!
Things to note: there is parking next door, but you do have to walk about a block outside, so dress for the weather! You can hang coats or park strollers when you get in. There is a place to eat, but only vending machines with food options. Tickets are come and go, so you could walk outside to get food and come back, but packing lots of snacks and drinks might be easier than the meltdown when you suggest to your kids that you need to leave.
Speaking of leaving, my 3 and 4 year old could have stayed all day, but my 1 year old was maxed out after about 2 hours (we stayed for 3). Next time, I’ll bring a baby carrier and see if he’ll rest a little so we can stay longer.
Overall, I wish we lived a little closer and could visit regularly! Truly this is a kid’s heaven.

My 1 year old loved it! We spent 3 hours there and could've easily been there longer. Pack a lunch and have fun! There's a small water area so bring extra clothes. There's a pretend cafe and a small library. It's very cool. We enjoyed our time there.
Josh Cardenzana
Convenient location, parking garage next door. Our 6 year old had a great time. We were there for 3 hours and still didn't do everything. The 3 story slide was a huge hit. The conveyor belts demonstrating how goods are transported were also where we spent a lot of our time.
Socks are required for some areas, they sell them at the front desk for $1 (very convenient).
Elizabeth Jabarin
My family had a wonderful time! Make sure to park in the parking garage next door so that you can get parking validated and only $15. It’s convenient especially because you are with kids.
The museum itself had something for all ages. I have a 1.5 and 5 year old and both had plenty of activities to keep them busy the whole time. I had discounted tickets so the trip is worth it. However, I’m not sure I would have paid full price, especially going with the whole family. My father in law who is 83, just sat in his wheelchair the whole time and we still had to pay for him. Maybe they can make seniors and older/grandparents free or something because they are literally there just to watch the kids. Other than that, the kids had a blast!
Corina McNeil
My baby enjoyed her time here. There were so many many many activities for her to do her. There was hand sanitizer every 3 feet it seems like. The staff made us feel like we were the only people there. They were very friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed our time. If you go allow your family at least 3-4 hours to throughly enjoy your day.
Hee Jin Shin
My kids had a BLAST at the museum! The moment we walked in, we could sense that it was made for kids and the kids knew exactly that. They enjoyed everything the museum had to offer. Definitely a great location to get the stress out of the kids (and energy, too).
Yup, they ate well and slept well that evening.
Josh Peine
Our kids had a great time here. The main attraction is the four story slide. Kids, even as young as four, over a certain height, can climb up the twisty rope and platform jungle gym structure to get to the top where the slide is. And it's a lot of fun coming down! I even did it a few times.
Sherida Hammond
Awesome fun! No wait in line. We purchased tickets online this day for Community Day. Parking is validated. Staff was super friendly.
The building is closed on Monday & Tuesday. Also closes 1-2pm Wed-Sun.
Joli Adore Photography, LLC
Fun for the whole family! There's even a cute little room just for babies and toddlers to explore.
Community Day was just $2 to enter. Not too crowded. Hand sanitizer machines all around. Very clean. Masks are optional.
Wear/bring socks or they have them for $1

My 3 year old and I had an awesome time at Port Discovery! This place has changed so much since I was a kid— there are age appropriate activities throughout the entire museum.
We came to visit the Eric Carle exhibit which was phenomenal! Hands on activities for the kids as well as great information for the adults that grew up loving his books.
The giant slide was a bit intimidating for my little one however the “jungle gym isn’t the main attraction of the museum like it was years ago.
We even got a chance to visit the puppet show with “Mr. Seth” which featured a self-confidence theme. We left VERY happy! Will be back— probably will purchase a membership between 5&6 years old.

Outstanding place. My two grandsons absolutely loved it. We had to drag them home. First and foremost the staff is happy, helpful and enthusiastic. The facility is very clean. There are so many activities that we spent 4 hours there and did not see it all. Entry is by reservations so even on a Sunday it was not crowded.
We loved it so much that we became members.
The boys were so active that in the evening, they actually asked to go to bed. Never thought that was possible.
Timothy Family
It was amazing experience, its like an indoor playground with REAL EDUCATIONAL things to do..
The only thing is I think $21.99 per person is kinda too much, if Me and my family go there, we had to spend $100 for a "playground" .
But we go there with a playmakers deals, so it was really amazing !! $15 for 5 people !! You can't beat that.
Alicia Walker
This museum was fantastic. The parking was right next door, the staff was extremely friendly and the activities varied and were super engaging for our two (5 and 2 1/2 years old). Will definitely be returning!

Looking to distract the children for a few hours? Take them to Port Discovery! It's really a cool museum for the kid's. Very interactive. By the time the kids get through indulging in the exhibits here, it's almost a sure shot that they will be sleep on the ride home. Thanks so much, Port Discovery, for being a great experience for children and even adults, alike!
Joheak Young
Went over President Day weekend, quite over crowded, parking was not modified, and exhibits were limited. Lines were long for the Climbers and/or obstacle course so my child did not wait. I definitely saw a decline in quality is exhibits HOWEVER, the staff were quite helpful and courteous. I hope things improve soon.
Joseph C-Y W
It's a little nice place for childern to spend 2-3 hours. The 3-floor high slide is definitely fun for kids. The water place area and restaurant place are both good. I think it also needs to have more variety of actives from time to time.

When we visit Maryland, Port Discovery Children's Museum was Good choose.Very clean place and the staff were very friendly,My son really liked the 3 story rope tunnel climb to the slide,We love the art room and made a flag about Maryland,Great for kids of all ages!We Had an amazing time.
Heather Scott
Definitely a fun place to take your kids too we became members and for our family of six it cost us $186.50 for a whole year membership the only thing that really bothered me is the fact that the big silver sliding board the child has to be 37 in tall in order to get on to it so I had one child that cannot get onto it and she was very upset besides that it was definitely a lot of fun definitely a good little bit to explore on top of it I don't know if many people know but at Phillips and at Leinenkugel's kids eat free with the purchase of a adult sadly it does only work for one child for one adult so that does hurt when you have lots of children but still a free meal is a free meal and helps out I did however call Phillips and they said for single mothers that have multiple children they will go ahead and cover the kids meals I don't know if every waitress will do that or not but that's what I was told over the phone also if you receive Maryland food stamps then you can get in at a discount I believe it is $3 per person per visit up to five people I believe
the thunder dash
Lots of stuff to do for kids , 3 stories and a huge slide to slide down, art room, water room with a Lego table and other water tables and boats and a drying area! A pretend diner with kitchen sets, music room, lots of cool things for kids all ages!! We love going here
Michael Barley
It's always an enjoyable visit at Port Discovery. They're most recent interactive exhibit featuring Eric Carle was a really fun addition where we made die cut paper models of the bugs from his books. The ancient Egypt exploration and grocery store are kid favorites.
Shenita Boyd
Definitely worth a visit or two for parents with little ones! Oddly enough, I was most impressed with the restrooms. 😂 They were simply pristine.
On another note, the museum is a child’s dream. A fantastic amount of learning opportunities and the staff is there to assist in a number of the activity rooms. Time entry is the only downfall. Felt a bit rushed through all the activities but I’ll caveat that with the fact we arrived 40 minutes late.
A bit costly however that is offset by the option to bring in outside food!
beyondTabu
This place has potential.
A lot of the interactive stations have pieces missing or aren’t working properly, which was disappointing because it would’ve been really cool.
The Sky Climber and the ‘river crossing raft’ in the Egyptian area were pretty cool though.
The staff are friendly enough and there’re a couple vending machines to get a snack and or drink.
The price per person wasn’t worth it due to the non functioning stations.
They also validated parking, but the machine in the parking lot didn’t work properly to accept the ticket, so we had to pay full price.
Marshall Feaster
What an awesome place for children! I love that Port Discovery doesn't let adults in without their child in tow. There are fun activities for families to do together like sports, grocery shopping, filling a car with gas and adding air (simulation of course).
Maritza Mendez
I went there last Sunday for my niece’s birthday 🥳 she had a blast definitely loved the place, my visit didn’t had a happy end however ☹️ I was carrying a Marshall’s bag with a change of clothes and shoes for my niece and my sunglasses 🕶, I remember carrying the bag around but at some point I placed some where and forgot to pick it up 😫😫 I went back ask the staff members if someone returned it or something they let me search for it but I didn’t find it, I couldn’t believe someone will just take it like that, it’s my fault because I forgot it, BUT seriously you will take something that’s not yours is a kids place, it’s in inconceivable, if you go there secure your stuff.
Kate Willyard
The employees are wonderful. The exhibits were engaging to both my 3 year old and my 1 year old. It offered them so many opportunities for them to nicely play together or nearby. With the employees so friendly, it made it easy to sit and smile and watch them have fun together. The employees make this place happen! I hope they are so wonderful because they are well paid, with full time employment and benefits. The staff at port discovery really blew my mind! Thank you for the great time!
Aries Evokes
They finally made there comeback-from Covid-😛. We paid the year right before the pandemic. But they were nice enough to give us another year. Great to see kids playing again and parents having fun …
Jennifer Çoates
The outside area is lined with retail stores and restaurants. This structure was once part of the Marsh Market Center, a place where Black slaves were auctioned and shipped to other areas of the country. The building also survived Baltimore’s Great Fire in 1904.
Alan Archer
My daughter visited this place not long ago and let me say I was excited to see all the kids enjoying this place and how much they put into this location to make it fun for kids!! We will return !!
Toni Achey
On our most recent visit, they had an animation area that included a really cool stop-motion feature. Kids can make their own little stop-motion movies and my daughter loved it! She’s 6 and she also loved the water play room, where kids can play instruments by spraying water at them. Lots of things to do and my daughter had a ton of fun.
Dee Lightner
Our grandsons had so much fun at Port Discovery. Don't forget to visit "The Diner." It was such fun to watch the children pretending to work in a diner preparing food for their families and serving it. Lots to see and Discovery!
chirag savla
Excellent place for kids. All the minute details, the toys, the learning places are great. Safe place for the kids. Friendly staff
Felicia
Loved it here. It was a little pricey but worth it. I have a curious 2 year old and he had a ball. Lots of activities and exploration for little ones. I spent about two hours here and my son was worn out! There are staff members who are super helpful and friendly always near, which is a bonus. Also, they have stroller parking, so each activity area isn't congested. 10/10 highly recommend.
T Wms
My family and I had a great time. There are ton of things for grade-school age children to do. My daughter loved it—she could’ve stayed there all day without eating or taking a nap. The only downsides are no kid admission rates and parking fees can be pricey if you spend a few hours at the museum. (I recommend getting an annual pass if your kids love it and you want to return.)
Kobi Logan
Took the kids and they had a good time. There was quite a bit there for them to do from the puzzles to interactive learning activities.
There's even a diner there that the kids can drag their parents into and serve them "food." It's was definitely fun for the kids. They have a menu to order from and the kids run around looking for the pieces to complete your orders so they can feed you. Overall a good time and it gets my recommendation if you have small kids.
Benjamin Jancewicz
It’s a great place to take the kids. I just wish they maintained some of the older activities a little better. The water fountain pipes have been broken over the years, and they haven’t replaced them. It would take maybe 20 or 30 bucks to order some new pipes, but they haven’t done it.
James Jackson
Pretty cool activities for children. Our 2 year old didn't quite get everything out of it she could have because there were several large groups kind of rampaging over things, but we were able to find areas that weren't too busy here and there.
The archeology exhibit is excellent and I hope the museum continues to build more exhibits like it
Bing Chen
Awesome place for kids 1 to 10yrs old. Always something new and fun activities indoors. Great for year long fun for my twin boys. Especially during holidays and winter season. Worth get the annual membership for 4 people family. Get your money worth after 2 trips.
David Reiner
What a wonderful way to spend a morning! Staff was friendly. Our children had a blast with all the permanent exhibits and were engaged, with a musical interlude for our 3 y.o. and art creation for our 7 y.o. Three hour window for visit felt like a leftover COVID precaution, but worked perfectly and helped get us out the door for lunch (otherwise we may have been there all day!).
Elena K
Took a 3 year-old and a few adults here. The child loved it, especially the giant slide and the ancient Egypt section. She had a blast, and the adults had fun too. I just wish that the exhibit with the kitchen/giant drain that leads into a giant tub was open. That whole section was so cool. I remember that section blowing my mind when I was a toddler, it was so surreal. My whole family had great memories there. I highly recommend that Port Discovery re-open it. It was so unique. If that area had been open, this would have been 5 stars.
Meghan Parsons
Kids had a blast, lots of fun things to do here for all ages. It was easy to spend a whole afternoon with the kids here. My bigs really liked the 3 story rope tunnel climb to the slide and my little loved exploring everything.
Chelsea Graham
This place was great! Multiple floors of activities ranging from sports to arts & crafts. I went with my 3 kids (2, 4, and 11), and they all had a blast. Just remember to bring socks for certain play areas. Highly recommended!
Chelsea Molnar
We visited Port Discovery with our 2 year old son and one year old son. They really enjoyed the museum. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. Bring your own lunch because they only have vending machine food, bring spare clothes and a set of water shoes for the water area. We will definitely be back!
Brionna Cavanaugh
It was fun. I really enjoyed that there were so many different stations for learning and just general things that children could do to work on their learning and imagination. I went on a group trip as a school. Not my favorite. It's best to go where you could read and explore one on one with your little people. Otherwise it may just be a jumble of kids. And the education piece gets lost. There was no gift shop. I was sad about that. It would have been nice to have a shirt or something.
Joshua Allen
absolutely great outing for children! we spent 4.5 hours not including 1 hrs lunch break outside the building (you can leave and reenter). my kids say the higights are: grocery store, car, restaurant (***), climbing tower. also like art activity, live show/performance, archeology exhibit, etc. it is pricey to enter but interactive the entire time and you can make a day of it. my kids can't wait to go back!
Heavenly Starr
I took my son there, just to see what the hype is all about.. I would say that this place is like a huge emporium with different things all crammed into one. I like the different levels of activities and fun things for kids to check out.. but in order to get to the different levels, you have to walk up and down alot of stairs.Yes it's that serious, especially if your tot wants to keep going up and down the stairs to check out the different activities.. other than that it's definitely a goofy place that kids find interesting and educational, while interacting with other kids..My favorite was the spooky exploration maze!!So it's still a Thumbs up!
Eve Lee
The museum is a great option when the weather too hot/cold. I happened to go when it was very busy so it felt like parents and kids were packed into the play areas. Their are multiple opportunities for kids to pretend play. It would have been a much more pleasant experience for my kids if we’d visited on a less busy day.
Lauren Aragon
It was great but I wish parking was free for yearly members. We loved the tot room for our 8 month and almost 2 year olds
Yvette Dorsey
I decided to take my 2 year old grandson and 2 of my older grandkids for a visit. This was our first visit since they remodeled the museum. All I can basically say is that, " I DEFINITELY liked the old Port Discovery design better"
My grandchildren, even my 2 year old had gotten board really fast and wanted to leave, It wasn't worth the amount that I spent to get in.
Update: MY grandson is now 4 and we went to Port Discovery today 4/23/22 and my grandson explored as much as he could but nothing much has changed and it's still not a lot to do, you get bored doing and seeing the same things over and over again, we left after about an hour.
Susan Divito
My first grandchild turned 1 and we were visiting him in Baltimore. My daughter-in-law had taken us to Port Discovery and bought a membership on an earlier visit so we were very happy to go back with him and see how much it has helped his growth and socialization. Great staff and wonderful museum❣
Kenneth Morris
Great experience. Multi level children’s museum with time of activities. Beck was very helpful. Must visit the Egypt room, the water room and go down the slide! My daughter loved it.
Heather Robinson
Every time I have to pick someone up from the airport I bring my 2 year old here to play and I’m not sure who has more fun, me or him! The place is absolutely massive and there is not way any child could be bored here. They have some thing for everyone.
Rosemary Diehl
The kids loved this place and kept them busy all day.
Diane Czochanski
Our first time here. This place is awesome!! Plenty of activities for the kids to experience. It's 3 floors of fun. Plenty of room large crowd. They have lockers to put coats or that stuffed animal your child refused to leave in car. They do not serve food but have tables. So bring your own snacks n drinks. Spent 3 hrs there.
Kirsten Ledford
The museum is still a good attraction post COVID lockdown. That said, I am very disappointed in the design of the climbing rope and slide since the renovation. The climbing structure is painful, too steep and claustrophobic. The slide is too narrow too steep and too fast. The former design with the bridges and tunnels were much better.
Ang Matthews
Very nice place with lots of fun activities for the kids! We have been twice and my daughter loved it.
Jenah Yeung
My kids, age range 2-10 , loved this place. Just be prepared with a change of clothes for your toddlers! They will absolutely love the water room! They allow you to leave and come back, so you can plan on taking a lunch break and then going back after, if your kids have lots of energy to burn. Great rainy day activity in Baltimore!
leo v
Pretty nice place, not overpriced. I took an 8 and 11 year old...I'd say it's best for ages pre-k to 8 years. They had fun on a freezing November day.
Candace Avonne
Awesome awesome awesome place to take your kids I definitely want to take my son back and go earlier in the day so that we can stay. The workers all but one where great definitely a great place for the kiddos
Elice from the garbage
I have went to port discovery a numerous amount of times when i was younger. Im 14 now and i really want to go again with my friends for her brothers birthday ( we are both 14 and her brothers are 9 and 11). However i was wondering, are individuals under 18 allowed to go in by themselves? Do we need to show that we have guardian permission? and do we have to make appointments or do walk ins?.
George Freedom
The facility was great, the kids had a blast. The front worker was kind of rude and was going to overcharge us for a membership until a coworker corrected her on the pricing and fixed it for us, but overall we had a lot of fun
Lizzie T
This place is truly a gem! There were so much to keep our kids entertained.Definitely would recommend buying tickets ahead as they will sell out tickets for the day.
Michael Gonzalez
Great place to take children. It’s like an indoor jungle gym of things to do. It’s $20 for a ticket to enter and you must sign a waiver releasing them of responsibility of injuries.
Shayla Powers
First time back since the remodel. We enjoyed some of the small changes that make it feel like a brand new experience after 2 previous visits and prior employment here in my college years. I really liked how they closed off the snack area and party rooms. This helps with noise and contains food waste to confined areas. Very clean and friendly staff. Everyone was professional and willing to help if asked.
They would benefit from a time limit on busy days. We overheard a woman saying she came for a birthday party and just stayed the rest of the day and was using an open space to charge her phone while her child ran around. Said youth were older and filling space meant for younger children. All charging their phones. I did observe staff gently encouraging them to move on.
Lisa Wilson
One of the more engaging children's museums we've been to. We had our 1 and 10 year old grandsons. There was lots too do for both of them.
Brittany Gardner
Learning, climbing, and playing. This place was amazing. We were here for two hours and could’ve spent even more time here but we had to start driving back home. We will definitely be making a trip back this summer.
L Walk
Port Discovery is best children's museum in region. Kids are engaged the whole time while learning Maryland and Baltimore history. The staff is friendly and there are activities for toddlers to pre-teens. Try to visit on the weekdays to avoid larger crowds.
Nichelle Mandjila
Great interactive learning experience for kids! So many activities to keep them engaged. We loved it so much we purchased a 1 year membership on our first visit. They make it easy by allowing you to put the price you paid for your visit towards the membership fee. Love this museum!
Jenna Fitz
Really disappointed in this museum. First time
Visiting and it will be my one and only. Brought my 4 year old. I give it 4 stars because there is a ton for the kids to do t has great potential to be a good day out with the family. My biggest disappointment is there are so many kids it’s overwhelming crowded. The climbing attraction in the middle is for older kids and it lets them out on different floors of the museum not good for younger kids. There are a ton of camps not being supervised so lots of pushing lots of line cutting for attractions. This would be a great place for kids you don’t need to keep your eye on. They do have a lot of toddler places that are less crowded but of coarse the bigger attractions attracted my son. I’m happy we tried it my son had fun but it was not for me as a parent .
Amber Warren
Awesome place for littles that like to explore. Have multiple floors and things like a restuarant for you kids to play cook, water play room, Egyptian room. We spent about 2.5hrs there. Very crowded bc it was family night. Loved that you have corresponding bracelets with your children that they check at the door to make sure you guys are together before leaving. Really awesome place.
Yari C
Multi-story children’s museum with plenty to do. However, it was super crowded when we went on a Saturday, so the kids had to be extra patient before they had a chance to play with different exhibits and areas. Also, we went specifically to see the dinosaur exhibit and it wasn’t at all what we expected. It was small and besides having some cool dinosaur costumes that the kids could dress up in, it didn’t have that much to offer. The best part was the Egypt/Indiana Jones area with lots of secret passages and cool code buttons to press before opening doors. All in all, the kids had a great time.
Deja
Great place for children to run and play as well as learn. There is a large, 3 story maze that children can spend hours in that has slides and rock walls and different entrances and exits. On each floor there are different rooms with different activities for children of all ages. There is a room that looks like a restaurant, a room that has different items that have been turned into instruments, a room for water, etc. There is a parking lot and you can have your ticket vouched on some days. Every month there is a $2 family fun night which is nice since tickets are somewhat pricey for a family.
Naijha Wright-Brown (Naijha Speaks)
My daughter enjoys this place. We probably need to become members. The new sky climber with the slide is a hit. I was tempted to make the climb and slide myself. Of course, there's many other attractions that my daughter enjoyed but this was the biggest.
Vicente Baamonde
Safe and fun! With so many rooms and activities every visit is different. I like the lunch area downstairs, it is clean and perfect to get the kids used to eat in restaurants without the stress of being in a restaurant. Being in Baltimore is a plus to escape from DC on weekends.
Jenny O'Rourke
Plan to spend the day here! The kids will not get tired doing all the activities on 3 floors of fun! Art, a diner, cargo ship, music, etc. Enough fun for everyone. I love the way that they "tag" each kid to the adults with them, that way you can be assured that no one is leaving with your children.
Ella S
Loved the 3 floor museum. It seems to have a lot for different age group of kids. Not as crowded as next door aquarium. Must visit with kids!
Fatima
My son and my friends' kids loved this place!! We wish we didn't have a time limit on how much time we can play because there is so much to see! Overall the activities and rooms are amazing & very interactive!
Mz. Bailey
This place is cool!!! There's so much to do and age appropriate activities to keep the kids busy. There are slides and rope bridges all over the place. In the picture, we visited a little diner complete with tables, chairs, jukebox and all the plastic food your child could possibly desire. There were chef hats aprons and a stove that lights up!!! I actually think I had as much, if not more fun than the kids did...
Kelsey Mongello
Bring lunch ! So much to see and do. Parking is as to be expected for the city - make sure to get validated for 5$ off ! Lockers, stroller parking, family bathrooms. Good time.
junebug for luv
No matter what the age this will inspire your child to dream and learn and inspir the imagination. The only fuss is the rules on the slide. This huge shinning silver beast greets you and it's the main focus thru out your imagery discovery but BUT the rule needs to be changed to 2 yr old with and over the age of 18 yr old adult. No one enforces the 5 yrs old no shoes which is nice and fine by us because my 2 yr old grand babies love it. I think if they didn't turn a blind eye we wouldn't renew our membership. Which I do encourage anyone with childern to get. You just can't do it all in one day the exhibits are aged and some need a little help and others need to be some modernization the childern don't know they're not meeting today's interactive modern-day features. THEY CAN STILL LEARN AND GROW IMAGINATION AND DREAMS. Taking public transportation leads you to the exactly the door. Packing a lunch is well greeted and they have lockers for your needs. Bringing a pair of extra shoes and clothing is a must for any child who loves water and has an imagination.
Shauna Santare
Great place to explore with little ones. Our 2 & 6 years olds wanted to stay all day and return the next day during our weekend in Baltimore.
Brittany Jacobs
A really awesome experience for kids. There is something for every kid here. Water play, soccer, arts and crafts, immersive Egyptian history, animation, and pretend play: fill the VW bug with gas and air, shop at the grocery store, dine-in at The Diner, captain the huge ship, etc etc. Really fun!
Gabby Amankwaa
Always a great experience for children.
Mike Lumer
A bit expensive but worth it if you can spend the full time session there. Lots of cool things to do with little kids!
Wendy W
My first visit with my grands last week was simply wonderful! It’s a great place to visit - very educational and entertaining with lots of hands on activities. See the leopard tortoise picture, well she was not the only live animal. There was another big turtle, a hedgehog and a big, long snake that the very experienced handler would let you touch, and if you’re brave enough, put around your neck. NOT FOR ME, but many adults and some children did while we watched. Be sure to ask for your AAA or other discounts bc it’s pricey (well worth it).
Whitney Burton
Perfect summer attraction for a toddler. They have a driving car, 'in door feild,' toddler room, spash station and more. Purchase a membership if you plan to visit more than two times. They also do arts and craft activities with the kidos as well. Best place ever!!!!

We went for the first time with 4 kids and they all had a good time. We didn’t want to leave! The water room was a big hit, glad we brought extra clothes!
Daniel Wunder
I went with my 4 kids ages 3-11. Generally speaking they had a good time although I think that my 11 year old was a bit bored. I think that the activities are more aimed at the 4-8 age range.
Victor Figueroa
Took my handicapped 8 year old and typical 3 and 1 year old. There is much to do for all ages not that much for my handicapped child. Accessibility was not a problem as far as getting to the floors but as far as things to do there isn’t much for her but it is hard with cerebral palsy. Great place though for kids of all ages.
Doug Snow
It was an okay experience. We have a 1 year old and a 3 year old.
They had a good time in the water area, but a lot of the other areas were missing some of the toys or items to interact with the room.
For example, in the soccer area, there were only three inflatable balls out and six behind a locked chain link fence.
It was also very hot in the facility. It seemed like they had air conditioning issues and tried to set up some portable units, but they just couldn't keep up.
Ruben Stemple
Very nice children's museum. Giant climbing structure and plenty of activities. Going through reconstruction in early 2019 so things will change but will probably be even better.
Kathleen Maurice
Small, but lots of fun. Good variety of activities. There is a separate room for 6 and under only. Which is great for the little ones, but complicates the visit if you have children in both age groups.
Unbiased Reviews
Great place for children. Your kids will appreciate it.
Kristen Miller
Perfect for my 2.5 year old. He loved every minute of it. Also loved that there was an area for our infant . He really enjoyed crawling on the light up mat.
Taking away a star because my infant's onesie was pretty gross after crawling around. A deep clean is needed

I have a membership here it's always always this one receptionist/Cashier who makes me feel so welcomed his name is Kean he is always smiling, pleasant and greets me using my name, yes the other staff members are good but he goes above and beyond for the customers. Port discovery is such an amazing place my family and I visit often but Kean has called me by name since my second visit, it's a great place to bring your children it's a great place to be

Always a pleasure to take my two nieces to this place. It's pretty clean, everyone is super helpful and courteous, and the kids have a blast. Everytime we go, there are new adventures/segments/activities for the kids to enjoy! I usually don't do this, but I'm just going to get a membership lol

Outrageous climbing.netted tunnel to 3rd floor entrance of a tubular slide. Tests stamina of kids, ages 4 -11 ( 3 foot height requirement). Is a healthful and challenging activity which burns lots of energy. Could use more sitting areas for adults waiting for their children to finish their climbing for the day. Other exhibits and activities could be more stimulating and engaging. Kids slept well that evening.
Chuck Close
Great place for the kids to have fun only concern is the giant attraction in the center of the building has too many exits for your kids to run away from you and get lost. They should be funneled back to the attraction and made to go out one exit or at least have employees stopping kids from exiting those exits and only letting them enter
Shannon Lanzerotta
We loved this place, especially the water works area. Make sure you grab one of the little rain jackets available because your kid will get wet. The only thing that could make this place better is an indoor restaurant. There are a lot of restaurants nearby, but it's a pain to pack up your kid and leave just to go back again.
Anjel Magee
My son spent hours here! So many interactive activities & exhibits! The play structure in the middle that leads to each level is amazing, plus the area for the babies is great! My 7 month old loved the water area!!
Melynda Robinson
Was very fun for the kids I plan on going back 3hr windows of time is good but also feel would be nice for little bit more time because the kids like the kitchen and the water part of the museum so we missed a few things since they spent alot of time at those things
Aaron Oliver
Inexpensive, but lots to do. My son really enjoyed the main attraction, the three story climbing structure, though I will echo some other parent's complaints that it can be hard to predict where your kid will exit -- I spent a lot of time tracking him from the outside.
The water area was also great. I'd recommend putting your kids in shorts and a short-sleeve shirt so they don't get soaked. There are crocs and rain-jackets they can wear, but it only covers so much.
Matthew Barksdale
Fun place to take the kiddos and grown ups alike. Staff does a great job and the place is pretty darn clean to boot.
Will Jones
This place was amazing! There was so many great things for the kids to do, it was really well maintained and the staff was super friendly, too! Would definitely recommend!
Norraine Miller, MS
It was awesome to see families and the children socializing, enjoying the music. Stories were read in house and also " The Literacy Lab was there in partnership to encourage "storytelling" to dtart this school year!
anthony romano
Great place for children under ten. My kid had a lot of fun
Amy Syversen
Such a great time, always. I wish it wasn't so expensive so we could visit more than once a year. The cafeteria area is very small and lockers fill up quick, so lunch here can be a challenge.
Mike Lay
My brother had his son’s birthday party here. There is garage parking nearby. The place has a lot of activities. My son loved the section where they had water just coming out of PVC pipes. After the water room, he went to climb the nets and play with puzzles.
Alex Gonzalez
Our kids love Port Discovery. There is always something new to discover at this children’s museum. This time it was Eric Carle’s work and fond memories of the various colourful stories.
LaSina Branch
I visited with my summer camp that I am directing. Great place for kids to be kids. The staff is friendly and extremely accommodating. Not to mention it is affordable. Be sure to pack lunch for you and the kids so you can pause for a moment when hungry and not have to leave the facility. There are no eateries to buy from inside so the only options are near powerplant live, but they do have 2 lunch room areas where you can pause to enjoy what you packed. Highly recommend!!
Chris H
Solid experience for my 6yo, asked to come back. Be wary of the water section, kids can get VERY WET if they choose chaos
Dana Merizzi
Great fun for kids 3-10 in my opinion. Some activities and displays are warn but the kids don't mind. Staff was friendly and areas are well supervised. Great climbing apparatus for sure. So many things for kids to do.
Kelly Reppert
Incredible place for children and adults alike. I got to enjoy this experience with my 2 grandsons and daughter and we all LOVED it.
Johnesha Tyler
The kids had fun, i had fun. #familyfun
Edit 12/29/2018...took the family here today and all I can say is that I wish they could add more food items at the "royal farms" and add or update the food in the cafe.
Their are bite marks in some of the fake food items. I have been coming here since 2006. It would be nice if they could add new themes like change the EGYPT/ MUMMY them room into something else that can amaze kids.
Like a ball pit room or something creative along the lines. It would also be nice if they had a lot more benches or sitting areas.
Malka Adler
It was super awesome in all ways. It had ultra mega huge slide. AWESOME 😄😁🤪😝😎
Karen Rogers
My 2 year old grandson had a tantrum because it was time to leave... nap time! My 9 year old grandson enjoyed himself too!
Zaynab B.
This place has so many interactive features to it and is so much fun for kids, especially with the renovations. They added amazing new features while keeping old, loved classics.
Thomas Hoger 1234
The place was great. My only complain is its no worth going there all the time since the the parking lot is more expensive than the price for the place. I like that it had free lockers and a place inside to sit with your kids and bring your own food and eat. Very educational. The slide was a bit scary. But i like adults can go on it as well. My kid had a blast and learn lots of facts.
Garry G.
The grandchildren love this place. Not one boring minute for them. Completely active until closing time.
Andrew Buschmeier
We took our 2 year old son here and he had an absolute blast. They have several things (to climb) that are also geared towards older kids. The water area will definitely get your kids wet. But it’s a ton of fun, so just bring a change of clothes and shoes and let them enjoy themselves! There are many different activities for various ages and it’s very well set up and unstructured so your child can play with whatever he/she is most interested. This was definitely our son’s favorite inner harbor activity.
Jennifer Bedford
Amazing! So many things for kids to do and learn, with 3 floors of activities for all ages. They shut down in the middle of the day to sanitize and have a pack of sanitized wipes on every table in the eating area. Everybody that works there was kind and helpful and enthusiastic and great with kids. My daughter had a terrific day.
Yael Abadi
Lots of fun activities for my kids ages 2 to 10
Brandon Linden
Kids soft hours checking out all the activities. Great for our 5 and 8 year old.
Camille Rodriguez
It's good way to get the kids engaged into something different. As a environmentalist it seems like wasted space for the limited play stations. Overall my son had a good day on his field trip and got to play with his friends.
Natalie L
I love going here with my family. Children under 2 are free and I have 16 month old twins. The kids are amused the entire time we are here and it's a great way to get them out of our tiny row home. I was nervous at first that they would be too little too enjoy most areas but now that they walk they can go almost everywhere. The baby room is fantastic and I could have brought them much younger. They love the sandbox, water room, diner, music garden, everything! We are so lucky to have this place in Baltimore. Definitely visit!
lana hailemariam
Adult rating is 4. Child rating is 5. My child had an absolute blast, it is definitely worth the price! Alot at least 2-3 hours for your kid to have time to explore it all and take their time.
I gave it a 4 because some things are worn and needed to be touched up. The bathrooms were pretty clean but the unisex on the 1st floor smelled like somebody missed the toilet. It is a children's museum, so I get it.
The touch buttons on the climb wall in the giant playground in the middle basically didn't work. Amd some of the buttons were so high, I couldn't even reach them.
Overall a great experience and we would go back.
Michael Luong
The parking garage is around the corner. There's 3 floors with lots of themes. There's no food sold but there's an eating area on the ground floor.
Caleb Prevatte
Great place to take the kids. Tons of fun things to climb on, explore and play with.
Brian Adler
Staff and factilies were fine. Kids under 10 will love it. They let you bring in food and water to dine in. Great way to spend the afternoon.
Just remember it's the city, so parking is expensive and it can be an adventure walking to your destination. Water room is best around. But kids will get wet ( water shoes are provided )
Stephanie Himert
Very entertaining place for kids! There were things for all kids under 12! Lots of things for climbing and playing!
Austen Hesler
A massive collection of interactive learning activities that my 4yo loved. They had activities for a range of topics including mass and density, sound, energy, history, dinosaurs, wildlife and conservation, space, etc.
Jan gk
Omg my children had a blast! There are 3 floors with different rooms and activities. The parking garage is right next door.
Chantry Gilbert
Port Discovery is fantastic fun for kids ages two to nine or so. They have a huge space for climbing and playing, and in general have ways for little-ones to entertain themselves for hours. They offer an annual membership for $140 for four people or $170 for six people. You can buy single day passes as well, but you'll need passes for each child and each adult.
If you're visiting Baltimore or live nearby, this is a great place to entertain small children for an afternoon. Highly recommend!
India Lukas
Absolutely fabulous place to take your children any day and all day! Membership prices are exceptionally low for the value that this museum offers! Try it, your entire family will love it!
GRAMS
We really enjoyed the Egyptian exhibit. There are many areas to spark imaginative play.
David Meyer
A nice Children's Museum probably best for kids 8 and under. They had some things for our 10 year old but the options were limited. It is a bit expensive with tickets costing $21 per person. They do validate parking except on holidays so take that into account. The location is close to other attractions like the Aquarium.
Menna Harby
Great for wide range of ages, from 1 year old can enjoy this place, different types of activities, recently, new activities are added and they are awesome, also there is water play area which is lots of fun, kids always love going there.
Chris Kozlowski
Amazingly friendly, lively, and entertaining staff. It's a marvel that places like this exist for our kids.
Arielle Meyr
At it's peak it was probably great... and my young children did enjoy it. However the family membership I was gifted was probably better spent somewhere else.
It was fairly dilapidated with a lot of broken toys/exhibits and it wasn't the cleanest of places either. I know how quickly children can demolish something, but at the price charged for admission I would hope you could, at the very least, replace some cereal boxes in the shopping center instead of just taping the life out of them. I felt like I was at a Chuck E Cheese when I was hoping for an OMSI.
Ann Jack
We went for the Play it forward event and had a great time playing!
Dawn Burrell
Lil peeps had a lot of fun - 12 1/2 yr old not so much.
Linnea Hunter
My daughter is 8 years old and still had a great time and she has been enjoying it since she was 2. Port Discovery was very clean and they have cleaning measures in place to keep everyone safe during the pandemic.
Araybia Allen
My kids love this place! I used to come with my siblings when I was 11, so I well reversed in how long it's been here. They have made some changes recently and the Dora, and Diego exhibit were my daughter's favorite. Both kids still love the wonder water works and the dinner the best! We will be back again soon.
Crystal Monkman
Expensive, beat up and showing the signs that they need a major overhaul. I’d wait until new exhibits are complete to return.
Thanks to Port Discovery for the review response, I think that is well said. I understand that updates are coming and I think that these new exhibits will be great! I look forward to returning when the work is complete.
Rachel McCready-Flora
The best children's museum I've been to! We only allotted several hours here, but easily could've spent all day. The highlight of our trip was the theater; the MC involves the children in all aspect of putting on a play, from making the props, helping to direct, and acting things out.
Three levels of fun to explore, and a HUGE climbing feature that's floor to ceiling in the middle, with rock walls, tunnels, slides, etc. We'll definitely come back to Baltimore and visit the museum again - worth the trip!
Patrisha Long
This was our first visit and our two and six year olds LOVED it! Our daughter has a sensory disorder and still thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the very tall rope climb and slide. We were shocked! We'll definitely be back!
Jackie Scrivanich
Great place for kids. Lots of different activities to try. Something for all kids. I love The Oasis and the toddler areas. The kids really enjoy the climbing area and the water room.
Brandy Huhn
We have visited a few times over the years with an assortment of different aged kids. The exhibits are a lot of fun and they appeal to a wide range of ages. The water room is a kid favorite as is the pretend diner.
Christopher Gallo
Amazing place for kids who love interacting, playing, climbing and can't sit still. The amount there is to do for the price of admission is a steal. Will probably get the membership.
Kerry Tee
What a great place for kids. So much to do. A huge net to climb and lots of arts and crafts. A must visit for kids 2+
Katie Hallock
What a fun place! We live down in Silver Spring, so I’m still debating if a membership is a good choice for us. But we were up in Baltimore last weekend and I knew we had to check it out. Three floors and so much fun! For the kids who want to climb, they have that in the main hall - a twirly slide that has to be two stories high. So cool!
The water table area was probably my kids’ favorite. Because not only is there the classic museum water table, there’s also an area where you can squirt a water gun at different instruments, or where you can stand in the middle of a giant bubble. In other areas there are such things as a sound studio, coloring/tracing, a train, an ancient tomb to explore. And many other areas we didn’t even make it to. I can’t wait for us to go back.
My only complaint is that they don’t have their own parking. Yes, parking is close. But I hate the idea of shelling out so much money to park (it’s not included with a membership).
But again, awesome place that’s definitely worth visiting!
Katherine Watier Ong
Great museum for my 5 and 8 year old. They didn't want to leave.
Lauren Michelle
Loved it. Well laid out. Best childrens museum in 4 states!
Ryanne Brown
Very nice children's museum. We loved that they have extra activities like story times, crafts and a special New Year's Eve "ball drop event". I do wish that we could have spent more time there. You can only choose one of two 3 hour time blocks and I feel like 3 hours in not enough time to go through the whole place. We probably saw about half of the museum. My son loved filling up the car with gas, the water zone, and the "port" where you play and move the rectangular blocks around. If we are ever in Baltimore again we will definitely be returning.
Karina Pacchioni
We have a membership, which is totally worth it. It gives us something to do every other week if we need it. My kids (5 and 3 years of age) love going and they are entertained for the whole 3 hour time slot. The staff is always really friendly and with the new covid guidelines it is less crowded and more pleasant! Definitely recommend visiting if you haven't already.
Emanuelle Garduño Leyva
A great place for kids and no kids. Plenty to do for babies, toddlers and youth.
Golda Lai
We got a membership and it has been well worth it for my toddler. He loves it!
Heather Michel
I have loved bringing kids here for 20 years. There is really so much to do.
John Benson
This is just a phenomenal adventure for children of ALL ages. We didn't get to make it to all areas, which makes a yearly membership even that more of an added bonus.
brittany engelhardt
The staff here are wonderful; payient, kind, caring individuals. We came on a Saturday at 10am and the place was not packed which allowed all the children to have turns with all the activities. The museum is clean, bright, and a lot of fun! Next time I'll bring my 2yo with us (me and my 5yo).
Ms Coren
Nice place to bring the kids to play and enjoy themselves. Lots of space with different activities for all ages. I took my 2 year old and she had so much fun!!! We'll be returning.
SisterWoman
A day trip with five of my grandchildren and a neighbor’s child. I must admit I had as fun as the children. Many of activities for all of them. Port Discovery took in consideration that parents/ grandparents would need rest stations throughout the building. For every activity there was a resting area to watch as the children played. A major plus/bonus for my husband and I!!!!!😊 Restrooms we’re clean well stacked with hand soap and paper towels. The canteen area was clean and plenty of hand sanitizer available. Validated parking was a bonus considering we visited during spring break!
Overall a very great experience at Port Discovery 4/13/22@ 2p.
Michael Berdan
Great museum but way overpriced. Barging full price for adults is crazy, and encourages fewer adults to come with the kids. Also, admission should be for all day, rather than just one partial session. If you don't get there right at opening you get short changed.
Ivette Cruz
My kids love this place, they run from one floor to the other through the play structure on the center of the building.
Paige Hibbard
We love the museum and our membership. My 9 month old especially enjoys the totsville area for infants. Wish we didn't have to pay for parking each visit but that's how it is. I hope that there will be more events and activities at the museum once the pandemic subsides. Thank you for remaining open and providing a wonderful environment for children and families.
Lakita Mcneil
I had a great time with the family. Its a great diversion and good time for the kids. My grandson is one he enjoyed the toddler trail and wet room the most.
Moshe Adler
Kids had a great time!
Free admission with membership.
Lucille Gibson
Wonderful experience for the kids...
I would like to see a snack bar there.
Also admission is extremely high for adults.
I feel I would come there more frequently if price was not so high.
RORI HANA
My little boy loves this place. There were many kind of playgrond and it was so fun
S. Bryan Reinholdt JR
Awesome place! Don't forget to bring change for a storage locker if you come with coats or bags.
Anna Anna
Good to spend a couple hours. My kids liked this place. Don’t get stuck on the first floor. A lot of good stuff upstairs
Martin Wilson
It was awesome. My kids had a lot of fun. There favorit part is the water park. The staff was very polite and helpful. We looking forward going this summer.
Ton
Only bad thing is this place makes all other children's museums in the DMV area a disappointment.
Michelle Ming
I bought military tickets ($17.95) online and reserved a spot in the 1400 - 1700 play window. I have a tween son and an infant daughter, and both kids had a BLAST in the water area. The baby passed out after playing in the water, but my son enjoyed checking out the other exhibits. He didn't have socks on today (it was flip flop weather) so he didn't do the net climb / slide--make sure your kiddos wear socks / shoes if they're interested in climbing!
I decided to upgrade to a membership, since two additional visits over the year will pay for itself, both kids had a ton of fun, and there are a number of play areas designated for the Tiny Tots!
Lam Huynh
Love this place. 2nd time return - bothy Kids had extreme fun time.
Eagles Heat
They museum looks big but activities limited compared to other children museum locations. It can keep your children busy for a hour to 90 mins
Gary W Ballard (Radio Trainman)
Very nice place for the family. Hands on exhibits that are energetic for kids. The staff here is really cool and helpful. Within a block of lots of restaurants, too!
Courtnie Bennett
Not ideal for children under 5. Most of the activities are geared towards older children.
Abigail Davis
I would give it five stars if I didn’t have to pay $20 each for my kids! Another reviewer suggested that the parents be charged less which is what they used to do at Badlands. I think that is a good idea as the parents don’t really do anything. Besides that, loved some of the new stations, especially the sky climber and the slide, and it was fun to see some of the old rooms too.
The parking validation could be better.. I still had to pay $15!
Karine Guay-Simard
Kids had lots of fun! The place is very colorful, spacious and clean. It's easy to go around and play while keeping an eye on everyone and it's easily accessible with a stroller. There is family bathrooms and a changing table in every bathroom (including men's). The eating area is family friendly with couple of highchairs and very clean. Highly recommend.
Shenell Wallace-Foster
It was so much fun the kids have an amazing time.
Sarcasx
This place is amazing. Stop reading this review and get your wallet out, if your broke get a job, its port discovery time. Your an adult with no life? No problem you can come here! Are you a child wanted to play? Your really wble to come here! If your 3 and under you may go anywhere you please
Lindsey Dunn
The water play area is amazing. Lots of places are built more with 3+ year olds in mind but my 1 year old spent almost 2 hours here exploring and running on his own and loved it!
Michelle Morris
Excellent place for the kids - lots of hands on activities - just plain fun!!!
BLM PHD
A must when visiting Baltimore with young children. Nice variety of play areas as well as an art area with a constantly changing choice of projects for children (and parents) to work on!
Nalia Martin
My two boys had so much fun running around and just having so much fun. They also have discount price for close to closing time .
netta joe
Kids had a blast!!
Jennifer Ewing
Great time affordable fun activities for all ages 0 to12
Danielle M
Fun activities, didn't get to fully explore the first floor. Royal Farms gas station was a great photo op.
Philisha Johnson
My kids love coming here. We have a free ?membership for the year so weve been visiting more than usual. Usually we would only visit on special day like their one or two dollar days because since generally the tickets give or take are about 20 each and with 3 kids that's almost 100 dollars. The water room is my kids favorite and they love when they have animals and arts and crafts.
Katherine Doss
Great place for kids! May be a little young for 11+ with no younger siblings to play with. Eating area does not fit too many guests.
Bethany Zeuch
Took my daughter with my sister and niece. My daughter had so much fun. I wish we could have stayed more than 3 hours. There is so much to see and do. We can't wait to go back.
Amy Metzger
We parked for free by Little Italy and walked over. Remember socks for the fun slide...we bought some for $1 bc I forgot.
Muhammad Malik
Extremely friendly staff. Free lockers. There are a multitude of different activities for the kids. So many that the time window for the visit seems less to go over each activity thoroughly. Very clean bathrooms.
Triney Gurl
What a GREAT fun place for the children. Huge climb to the ceiling slide; water activity, play shop.
La Tika Jeffery
Port Discovery is one of my favorite places to take my girls. EVERYTHING is hands on, which can be bitter sweet. But, they do have clean bathrooms and hand sanitizer options throughout.
Each room has something new for the kids to do/touch/ explore making it an easy 20 mins per room.
There are restaurants conveniently located all around Port Discovery. However, Kids Eat Free at Leinenkugel's! Present your Port Discovery ticket/receipt for the day and kids in your party eat free.
Port Discovery also has a designated sitting area inside if you packed a lunch.
For families with infants, kids under 1 are free. And there’s a room with a private bathroom making it an easier experience for all. This is a stroller friendly place. However there is a place to store your stroller as well as lockers.
I recommend going a little early to fully enjoy the experience. At least for the slide line. It can get a little lengthy (we waited about 30 mins on a weekday). However, if you go with a group or at-least two people, you can definitely divide and conquer!
(parents can slide)
Jeremiah Good
This museum, despite being under construction, provides incredible interactive exhibits and activities for children of all ages (even adults can learn something!) in their atrium space and they are accommodating to large & small groups. Their new exhibit should be opening this Summer, with an emphasis on Baltimore's ship industry.
The proximity to other family places in the area, like Chick-fil-A (Inner Harbor) and the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, and historical sites like Ft. McHenry and Baltimore Historic Ships make it a winning destination for everyone! I'll be back! 😀
KAREN CHANCE
Visit online first to get 3 hrs incremental reserved time slots per family. Garage next to museum. Steeet parking where available and on Gay street. Great fun for kids 3-12. Elevators were packed with different families at same time.
Abdullah Afeefy
It was such a blast for us and the kids. The activities they have are simply amazing and the entire staff seems trained to deal with children. I saw them get down on their knees to get to their level. Speak with them directly. Overall just gave the kids a fantastic experience.
Sadia Brooks
This place is no longer worth the hype or the price. I mean yeah they added a slide but I have seen better. They are over priced and a lot of their activities are old and very boring for kids who are older than 6 years old. The wet room is very dangerous and slippery and no employee is in the room to keep the visitors safe from slipping. They sure love to take your money and rush you in for boredom but quick to kick you out when they close. Only visit this place with if your toddler is bored. Other than that if your child is pass toddler age, I would recommend Dave n Busters.
Tss Immortal
Let it be known the big slide you can not go down with your child. They will have you climb to the top then expect you to let them go at the minimum age of 3. You will have the chance to do an accident report but not sure home much that will do if your not from the area.
Luis
When my wife told me we were going to a kids museum i was very hesitant. However this place was the most magical, splish-splashy funzone in town! Great area to let your kids get lost in their imagination! So much to do and each room let's them explore different skills, not to mention making new 30 minute best friends!
SkipperG Ir1
Great 👍 time for 3 and 5 yr old kiddos. …
Darius D
Everything you can ask for to keep your little one engaged and stimulated. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Family friendly atmosphere. Will definitely come back.
Seth Gregory
The museum is small as compared to larger ones like the Boston Children's Museum, but the climbing structure in the center of the building makes up for it. Tons of fun.
Jessica SmokeyMcPot
The kids had a blast and didn't want to leave. Us grown up kids on the other hand were a bit disappointed because they took out alot of exhibits, it's about half the size it used to be. The giant climbing thing is nothing like it used to be. It was all around better before they renovated it. I hope they aren't finished and are still working on the rest of the building because there's not much there anymore.
Edit; reply to Port Discovery- I'm not sure if you guys will see this but pleaaaase bring back the mystery house. I'm not sure if that's even what it was called but it's where you have to use the clues left to try and figure out how the family disappeared. It was so much fun and alot of our favorite and most memorable experiences there.
SooMin Lee
Visited on a Saturday after completion of the recent renovation. Overall, well-organized and kept clean. Our 3-year-old had a blast and enjoyed the water activity, grocery area, and the pretend-play restaurant. Our 6 year-old loved the long slide and rode it multiple times. If you live close enough, it's definitely worth it to sign up for the family membership. If you park in the garage, don't forget to ask for the parking voucher. Discounted parking of $15 is only valid during regular museum hours.
Christina Toy
Such a great way to spend the day with little ones! Something fun to explore for every age of kid!
Mary Malarky
Awesome awesome place! We took our 8 month old and was able to enjoy all three floors! Great touch/ explore the senses attractions even for the littlest hands. The staff were very helpful, they have socks you can purchase. Will be coming back in a year or two when our child can do more things and explore and learn in new ways. Highly recommended!
Rohan Nabar
We came here with our daughter who is almost 3. We had a wonderful time. Everything is clean and well
Kept. She loved the arts and crafts room
As well as the big kitchen. We saw many employees sanitizing toys and exhibits. It was a pleasure we will be back for sure!
Michelle Ashcraft
My two daughters had a wonderful time here on our first visit. There was so much to do. There were helpful, kind, and joyful employees everywhere ensuring safety precautions were being followed. It was like a Disney World level of customer service. Great job to the staff.
Dana Phipps
Great children's museum geared for play. Newly renovated so the bathrooms and new locker/eating area are nice and clean. My kids ages 1 to 6 had a blast discovering different play areas like the new ship, the water play room (bring a change of clothes!), Egypt adventure and so much hands on Discovery area. The new sky climber and slide are fun - a little scary for my younger kids and less climbing than there used to be, but clean and safe and fun. There are some great baby areas too, so I felt like everyone could play how they wanted to. Recommend a trip here with kids!
Lisa Gosnell
I would like to make a suggestion for children under the age of 12. There should be no reason that parents have to pay $20 for a 2yr old. May want to think about reducing prices for ages 2 thru 12 maybe $15.95. Just a suggestion.
Yan Zhu
What a wonderful facility especially ran by an amazing staff. We literally can spent an entire day here. Such a great place for the kids to run around and engage in various types of activities like water play, climbing, reading, and present play! So much learning and fun. We love it. There is also a special area where you can sit down and eat and they provide wipes to sanitize before you sit down! How many places do that? Some places don’t even supply enough toilet papers! Love the fundraising team on their responsiveness! We purchased monogram blocks for the children to play as part of the exhibit and the staff went out of their ways to allow us to see it and let our children release them into the exhibit for other kids to play. Get the annual membership. It’s definitely worth it if you return multiple times throughout the year!
sara Mitchell
Great place for older toddlers and kids up to about 10. They have a multitude of activities
Juan Hollingsworth
Had a wonderful time with my family and granddaughter . She really enjoyed herself ! A very interactive place. She especially enjoyed the floor to ceiling slide ! For kids a must go !
Nathaniel J. Boston
Great time and and experience for my 3 year old great-grandson. He had so much fun at each activity. He was awfully upset when they made the closing announcement. We will be back soon.
Dan Champagne
Great place for kids! So many things for them to do, but it's also educational! Another thing we love is that the exhibits are updated and rotated pretty frequently. So if you visit multiple times you won't always be seeing the same things. Friendly staff, clean environment and plenty to see and do! Highly recommend Port Discovery!
Danielle a.
Great place for the kids to run and play with age appropriate items. My favorite was the classic kids size diner!
Mark Farmer
Our 2 year old had a wonderful time. He didn't realize there were so many options and was hard to pull him away from the first few "exhibits", so he didn't get a chance to play with everything, which means we will definitley return. It was a great way to kill a few hours while he had an absolute blast.
Highly recommended. Will be back and will probably become a regular thing for us.
yoyo4you torabi
Its a fun place for young children but was EXTREMELY hot and humid
Especially during COVID-19 there was no ventilation and room to breath
There were also no windows sowe couldn't spend much time inside without getting dizzy
Christina Espinosa
My little guy loved it here, 3 floors of fun. They have complimentary lockers if you don't want to carry around jackets or baby bags.
Mahgrefteh
Staff was amazing. Every 1 was wonderful. We even came 15 minutes late, and didn't give us any problems.
Highly recommend visiting.
Samuel Varela
Multiple levels of fun, learning and activities to keep the kids entertained for hours. Lots of climbing and playing.
Zachary Lovett
This has been renovated and it's much nicer now. The giant jungle gym that dominated the center of the facility is gone and a new much upgraded piece of equipment is in its place. Love this change. Overall this is a great spot to bring kids. No food on site other than vending machines so if you want to eat make sure to bring your own food.
Latricia Blackwell-Smith
My son loved it. Changed some from when they first opened years ago but great place for children.
Randi Maki
Port Discovery was so much fun! My two year old got to play for a few hours and had a blast. The timed entry/exit keeps the number of people down so it isn't too crowded. Will definitely visit again.
Susan Hawk
A little young for my kids (8.5 and 7), so the enjoyment was different, but truly a great place for younger kids. Staff was VERY friendly!
Chester Becker
Good place for kids but it's a little pricey
Mike Norman
This place is nice but for younger kids at the age of 1-4. There some interesting things to do, but not worth wild for older kids. Would like to see some upgrades and new ideas that would be more beneficial to the experience.
Jocelyn Norris
Granddaughters loved it! For the parents be ready to move, it's alot to do there and it can get crowded.
Vijay Soprey
Cool place for kids with many fun activities and levels for a good half day. Plus, they do a good military discount.
Neeks Neeksy
Maybe PD was better in the past, but is showing a lot of wear and tear. I love the fact that this location has a water room for children to enjoy, however it often opens late and patrons (with impatient toddlers and young children haveba very hard time dealing when this happens). It's wonderful to see the children enjoying every corner of this room, but there are many activities that could be improved such as the body-sized bubble maker which needs to be more closely attended to by staff since bubble solution levels must be properly maintained in order to work. There's an age appropriate room for young infants under two where parents can feel at ease allowing them to safely explore and be stimulated. But again, many of the materials in this room (such as puzzles, pegs, etc.) are missing pieces, or faded and worn down. Also, even though this is a shoeless room for infants, it isn't really monitored and older kids often run around with shoes on. They sometimes have "story time" in this room, and the last time we attended, the story teller seemed to expect absolute silence from the infants and became agitated with my child for not doing so. There's a very cool super large play kitchen that kids love, but it's overlooked by staff and mostly kept in disarray. There's a decent sized sports arena for The kids to toss around balls, or play soccer, however despite the high number of children, only 1 -2 balls are left out for them to play with. This is frustrating to both parents and children. The museum is good about updating exhibits which keeps it more interesting for members, but overall the place is in need of more employees to maintain the premises and assist guests, and also needs to replace many of the toys and materials which are largely rundown. I'd recommend a yearly visit here, but certainly NOT a membership. I should have spent the money towards a family membership at the National Aquarium.
Emilie Vaughn
Absolutely amazing! I jate spending money, but this place is worth it. You will need multiple days to explore all the areas.
Dom Gray
There are 3 stories of fun for kids of varying ages!!! I would've given it 5 stars but I did not like that although some of the rooms were for specific ages any child was allowed in. I have a small child and was not pleased when 5 and 6 yr olds were bumping around in the 3 and under room. There are plenty of other areas for them to enjoy. Although I expected the play areas to seem frequently used it was nice and the toys were in good shape and not sticky. It is one of a kind and definitely a nice place to visit.
Kim vanblarcom
This is my favorite children’s museum in the tristate area. It is HUGE with 3 stories and numerous rooms for all ages. There are so many things for kids to explore, play with, touch, and learn. The staff is very friendly and I love that on Mondays they do not allow groups. My 2 year old had a blast and honestly my husband and I also enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend this kids museum!
Stefenie McCallie
A lot of fun! Worth the prices.
Remember parking!
Elad Silberring
We have a membership here the place is awesome usually there is metered parking around the place which cost $3 an hour there's a lot of events and activities around. there are three levels each one has different attractions the main ones I would say are climbing up rope and sliding down 3 levels, another one is the water exhibit which closes at 4:30 p.m. try to bring a raincoat as it will come in handy in here. another great attraction is a toddler's Trail it's a room full of toys, games and books that they can play with. you can definitely burn 4 hours here with ease
Sean Reeves
My son had a blast. This was a stop during our weekend trip down from New Jersey. He's 4 and thoroughly enjoyed it there. Definitely a great place to go after the a day at the aquarium where the kids can stretch their legs and burn some energy. Will definitely be going back soon!
Chelly D
I try to get my Fortnite/Minecraft playing 8 year old out as much as possible. I wasn't sure he would enjoy this place, thought it may be to babyish for him, but he loved it. We spent a good amount of time in each area. There is a water play area , I wish I knew so I could have prepared with towel and change if close, but either way he had a great time. He saved the slide for the end bc he was scared of the climb, but once he finally did it, almost couldn't get him off. And they definitely kept the areas clean by closing exhibits and wasn't packed at all.
Autumn Buynum
The upgrades are awesome including the free lockers now. Full of open exhibits. I believe there was only one closed. Plenty of covid safety practices implemented. All around a great time for parents and little ones.
Daniel Teel
The redesign was fantastic and the museum now feels very modern. There's so much to do here my kids can easily spend all day playing. They were a little bummed that the new climbing area is so high, as they're afraid of heights. Overall it's fantastic. Parking is $25 though, I wish they'd validate parking though.
Belgica Gonzalez
Kids loved it. There's tons of fun activities for children to do. They also give military discounts, which is a plus! The water room was great. The one time kids get to play in water without getting scolded lol. We spent about 2 hours here. It wasn't really crowded, so you can move through the exhibits without feeling rushed. It also depends what day and time you go.
Channa
My kids like going here and have fun. However, a lot of the things don't work and don't get fixed. Plus if they put a little bit more time into it, it can be made better. The arts and crafts has been the same for 2 months already...
Racquel vs. Rochelle
My kids love it. They can be curious and explore all the exhibits
Jennifer Jackson
They have a couple of cool things, but it wasn't as good as the Pittsburgh children's science center.
Kids liked the hands on activities. But the educational part of the activities was too advanced for the activity itself. A cornhole board is appropriate for little kids, but the lengthy description next to each hole was too advanced. The water room was cool.
We adults were bored, and the kids were mildly entertained. The slide was cool.
The conveyor belt was fun.
We spent almost the same amount of time playing at the kids park outside the aquarium, and it was free!
Eric Kuessner
What an amazing place to go. It was super fun. Y son had a blast. Bring a lunch and stay for the day.
Dar Bar
My first time there. Took my grandkids they really had a great time.
Clean and well staff.
Ashley Miranda
We recently hosted a wonderful birthday party here and it was amazing! From beginning to end, The Birthday Coordinator-Ashley Smith was professional, attentive, patient and an absolute pleasure to work with. We valued her expertise and advice to make our kids birthday a success. Our guests enjoyed everything from the private access free play(closed to public), party activities, games and exhibits. The staff assigned to our party were amazing and kept the children entertained. I would definitely book again as it was memorable for our friends, family and children.
Yvette Flores
My daughter loves it here. So much to do!
Matt Longley
This place is such a wonderful experience. We took our 16 month old there not being sure what to expect, and we're certainly not disappointed. They do offer a toddler area, but even she was able to do some of the "big kid" stuff. Even her mom and I had a blast with the activities. Would HIGHLY recommend.
Layla B
A fantastic place for little explorers! I took my 2yo son on a Saturday. This place is very nice for small children as it offers a variety of activities that facilitate a fun, hands-on learning environment. The building has 3 different stories with a gigantic jungle gym type of equipment in the center (it has multiple entrances and exits based on skill levels and age levels). The staff are wonderful and helpful! Also, depends on what day and time you visit you get to experience special events as well. See the website for their event calendar before your visit.
Parking is not offered by this facility but there are ample paid parking garages nearby.
D. “Scorpions” Ozn
it was great. my daughter had a lot of fun and of course we have 👍🏾 I can't count how many times you've climbed the hill 😂 …
Octavia Bradford
I had the pleasure of a visit recently during Dollar Days with my sensory sensitive 10 yr old and 11 yr old boys. This place is amazing. Definitely worth the regular admission fee. We travel almost an hour from Frederick to visit. It was surprisingly not very crowded when we arrived. The staff are exceptionally trained to handle children and very friendly. Even the web page manager took the time to thank me for my review. There are numerous activities to fill an entire afternoon. My kids and I just love to visit. I recommend the EGYPT area for hidden fun. Water works is always a 'splash' for any age. The climb to the top floor is our favorite and is big enough for moms to join! Its a wonderful addition to the inner harbor and top of our list every time. Bravo Port Discovery! Looking forward to those new additions in 2019!
Jon Setliff
Geared a bit more to kids 4 and older, my 2 and a half year old still had a great time. 3 floors of interactive activities, rooms, and even a indoor soccer field. The "spooky house" was our favorite room. And the 3 story jungle/slides/bridges/climbing thing is really neat.
Great places to eat and visit near by, as well. The harbour if very nice to walk through.
Tracey Hill
Did not have to wait in line they had universal precaution in place plenty Hannah's sanitizer It was not overcrowded clean and white as you went along face mass everyone had one on even the children they had people going around to check to make sure you had it on It was well ventilated in there and I really enjoyed myself along with my 2 kids
Nicole Frazer
Our four year old had a blast. He loved the climbing structure, the diner, the construction site. He enjoyed the older children's exhibit of Egypt, but there was a part of that exhibit which had a "scary" moment/loud noise to make you jump, and that didn't go over well. All in all, we had a lovely afternoon of family activity.
S J
It was fun experience. I went on 3rd Friday $2 entry from 4 p.m to 8 p.m. Thanks to target. Parking was also affordable. Inside there were many activities for kids. My kids enjoyed a lot. My 5 years old was over joyed with slide. It is a tall slide and getting on top is really fun. I also tried it. They have vending machines only. You can also bring your own food. They have lockers, free of cost. If you are in balitmore and have kids under 12 , should visit it.
The FuzzMan
Fun place for kids and a great deal if you can find them.
Tierra Allen
Very fun place for the kiddos, but they need some type of structure and an age limit. People need to be held accountable for watching their kids. It's far too many small children and babies for these big ass grown kids to running wild. They should probably serve food as well. It could be cleaner too, but otherwise lots to do for your little ones and it's super fun.
Keesha Frederick
Visited with my granddaughter, it was her first time,,she loved it,, from the arts and crafts, to all the make believe play in the diner to climbing in the mazes and learning abt pre historic times.
Sarah
Went here with my niece, she didn't want to leave. We had a great time.
Mike Cobucci
This place is enormous and has endless play options. Worth every penny and then some. My 6yr and 3yr kids were in heaven. One of the best indoor play options we've come across in 5 states. Offers re-entry and parking validation. No food options inside (besides a vending machine) but several outside, which might be good because if they did my kids would have tried to convince us to sleep there. No joke they could have spent 12+ hours running around.
Adam Singh
Great place for kids birthdays!
Mo Garcia
A great place for kids. Quite a bit of interactive activities. Age range for our kids 2-10. They all had a fun time. Few hours of entertainment. Remember to get your parking ticket validated. $15 for parking, at the parking garage next to the museum. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Seemed like they enjoy working there. Place was clean. Bathrooms were very clean. Changing tables at all their bathrooms. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Baltimore with small children. Right near the harbor, where you can enjoy a meal at the many restaurants nearby and re-entry is fine until closing time at the museum.
Amy Schwalm Daza
Great place for young children. Encourages imagination and creativity. Friendly staff. I appreciate the little details like kiddie potty seats and lower sinks. They need to put more tables and chairs in the eating area.
Jasmin Hollywood
Really neat hands on place for children of all ages. Admission fee unexpectedly bit steep on the pockets approx $20(per person Adults&Child over 1 year old). Still the employees are helpful&friendly clean atmosphere for toddlers to play and plenty of climbing space for kids 4&older.
Gil Schaefer
Great fun for children of all ages. Physical activity zones, play areas, and learning areas combine for an excellent experience. For families, they check bracelets on the way out to ensure that children leave with only their caregivers--an added level of security that I find absolutely fantastic and on another level.
Diana Ree-Reeder
I give them 4 stars. It is billed as ages 0-10 but I think a 10 year old would be hard pressed to have fun. 0-8 seems more appropriate. The activities were interesting but some were missing essential pieces. Also, only one sink had soap in the women's restroom and an hour later it was the same. You need to do better in a family oriented place.
Mike mc
Very nice place for kids the only thing could have been better was need a place you can get food from only had snacks out of vending machine
Tiara Peterson
Great place! So much to learn, alot of hands on activities for children! The staff were super kind and friendly! Plenty of wash stations and wipes available ! I would recommend for children 18months-10years old!
Miranda Bronsgeest
Great place for kids of all ages. The play tree is a great success and good for climbing and crawling etc. Parents can play with their kids or catch a break. Wristbands are always being double checked with the parents to make sure the kids leave with the right parents. Pretend play, water room, pretend diner and Royal Farms, quiet reading room (oasis) and exhibition area that always offers something new. Love the $2 Friday evenings too.
Jonathan Johnson
Would highly recommend to any family in the area. This is easily a full days worth of stuff to do in only this location. Because of all of the activities I would recommend at it around one adult per 1-2 children. I don't think a family with a bunch (4-5) of small little ones (ages 1-4) and only two adults. I say that because they have a lot of really interactive things to do that kid's that age , at least mine, enjoyed those things more when I was able to explain what they were supposed to do.
Louis “Lawster” L.
Port Discovery is under construction so until spring only a few things to do with kids there. When to construction is over there place will be great place for kids.
Paul Carroll
We all had a great time at Port Discovery. One four year old and one nine, which some might say is old but she loves this kind of stuff. All very hands-on, exploratory and educational.
We had a full five hours of entertainment and probably could have stayed for longer but were exhausted from recent travels. Neither if the kids made it up the main attraction - a rope net climbing structure taking you way up high to come down an enclosed twisty slide - but they still had plenty to amuse them.
You can eat your own lunch in a specific area. I didn't see an on-site place to purchase food but there are plenty of places nearby.
D W
Thank you for providing a space for me to wear out my two lil munchkins. I slept well that night!
Benjamin Schwantes
Good spot for entertaining kids. They have a variety of physical activities to keep kids busy and entertained. They redid their central climbing setup and it's less fun now but good for older kids. The three story slide is impressive.
Patricia Larry
I thought it was a little expensive and the adults fee is too high since they can't do anything but watch there children but it was ok
Amit Sharma
Good place for kids to spend around 4 hours doing physical and mental exercises. Polite staff and clean facility.
Serefina Yeshe Ny'O
I took my nieces and nephew here and they had a blast! They were occupied for hours and even my little 2 year old niece was captivated by everything to see, touch, do. I wish this place has been around when my children were little. Definitely bringing them back!
Raven Howard
Very creative, my daughter was busy.
Bethany Quinn
I took children aged three to ten here and everyone had a great time. The current Lego exhibit was fun and the boys spent two hours building. The jungle gym in the center was perfect for everyone although it's hard to see exactly where they are. They also have a water exhibit that's ideal for toddler and preschool children. One of the best children's museums we have been to.
Dylan T. Rogers
This place was great. My 4 1/2 yr old and my 2 1/2 yr old both loved it. A lot for both ages and for my wife and I. The staff was great with the kids. There isnt a cafeteria really here, just vending machines with snacks but plenty of food within walking distance and your allowed back in. That didnt bother me. You can easily spend 3-6 hrs here to keep kids engaged.
Arthur Avery
Our almost 2 year old had a blast! Even more activities for children 3+, would definitely recommend taking your child here. The older they are, the more time you can spend without them ever running out of new things to do!
Ian
Definitely an enjoyable visit, but does not feel completely thought out. Both the use of space and the exhibits themselves feels a little haphazard. Also do not know the age of the museum but many of the features seem to no longer work or at least not as intended. Not worth the cost of admission if the proceeds do not go to keeping up the rooms and toys.
Indigo Awakener
Port discovery is great. It could be MUCH greater. (Update12-18: Port Discovery is due to undergo some radical changes in the next year, tearing out their epic 4 story climbing centerpiece to replace it with something that they promise will be even better. Lots of exhibit changes are in store. I hope they finally utilize all their wonderful space. I suggest you call before you go. Rest of review still stands, will update as time progresses.--) There are days where it is wild and overly crowded, especially before lunch. Fridays there are no groups so that's that's a much better time. I wish their special exhibit planners would focus on more young kid friendly INTERACTIVE exhibits. Too much reading and not enough DOING. I even find a lot of them boring. The 4 story climbing system is first rate. They DO need to replace the cushion at the bottom of the black slide. I don't know why they removed it. The sandbox in the under 3 room is often pretty empty, it needs to be filled and kept filled properly. I had to ask them to add some sand. They have a ton of unused space that could be set up with many fun exhibits and activities. I have no clue what the planners are thinking, but they could make much better use of the wonderful spaces there. Parking is expensive and inconvenient, unless you manage to snag a metered spot on the street. Admission is high, the memberships are a better bet if you plan to go more than twice in a year.
Peter Strapp
Great museum for kids of any age. Can get a bit crowded during summer and on Saturdays especially, Sunday seems to tend to be a bit less crowded. Really like water play and pretend play areas. Staff is excellent and the place is usually very well maintained. New exhibits have been awesome and hope they keep rotating new ones in.
Bryan Rheem
This was our second visit, our first being over 5 years ago. Not much has changed with the exception of some new exhibits. Still a GREAT time of fun for the little ones. We have a 10 year old boy and the attractions were limited for somebody his age, but he still had fun. Our 3 year old had a fabulous time with almost every attraction.
The price is a great deal considering the price of other local attractions nearby (aquarium, science center). We spent a good 3 hours there and were able to hit everything without taking a break. We went on Sunday afternoon and it was much less crowded.
Their security is good, with a staff member checking bracelets when you leave to make sure you leave with the kids you came with. If you have little ones, please keep an eye on them! Most of the staff were running around trying to find lost kids! We encountered several kids by themselves in the elevator, looking for their parents!
While some of the attractions may be dated, they still provide plenty of fun for kids of all ages. The huge jungle gym in the center is the most fun, your kids could probably spend all day just playing in that thing! The only thing to be aware of is that if you little ones start on the first and go up to the 2nd or 3rd level, you should either meet them up there or make sure they know how to get back down to the 1st level.
I feel it was money well spent, my kids had a lot of fun, and they even learned some things as well (always a great side benefit!).
Marissa Price
Tons of exhibits, perfect for a rainy day. Reasonable admission price and they offer military discount.
Brent Ward
Great place for kids. It has something for every age. With that being said, the bulk of the place would be more enjoyed by the 7 and older kids. My kids are 1 and three, and they loved the water table room the best. Playing music in the Toddler room was a close second though.
Janet Marnien
It's great for the kids but the parents don't get to sit down much. Bring your own food. The climbing thing in the middle is irresistible to the young ones but it is difficult for parents to follow them through the tunnels. But there's a good system in place if you get separated from your child.
Jeanne Bowser
Loved the time there with our grandchildren. Unfortunately, a number of things were not working which was frustrating, but the kids still loved the climbing structure (super safe and 3 stories tall!), And the water room, the train and the space ship. Fun for all ages here.
Menachem Goldstein
So many things for your kids to do. There's things to keep everyone 1-10 busy here for hours at a time. There's also benches for adults to sit down when they're tuckered out from joining in the fun.
Note: When we came we were offered 10$ off the price of parking (at "harbor parking" with our admission. Ask for a receipt or a a ticket at the entrance that gets scanned when you leave the parking garage to apply the discount.
Stephen Broadway
Overall it's a great place. There's so much for the kids to do. I originally gave it three stars because I was disappointed in the renovation of the climbing structure. To me and my little climber, the new one isn't as versatile as the original. But, if you have never experienced the original, you probably love it.
Monia
It was ok. Compared to other children museums in different states, this is not as highly rated. The kids liked the giant slide the most. But it might be intimidating to little ones. Other activities include a water room, room for toddlers, blocks, Egyptian room, dinner for pretend play ...
Jan-Mitchell Zerrudo
Drove up from Washington, D.C. for my four year old and one year old and both totally enjoyed it. The older one climbed the multilevel tree house, enjoyed the mini soccer stadium, and had fun at the water park. The younger one liked walking around the smaller kids' area with sloped walking paths. Also, the Egyptian-themed mystery adventure room was well done. Friendly staff and all toys/structures seemed cleaned. Overall a good value at $16 per person (over two or three years old, I forget which). I don't think they're were any food options inside the facility but even if there were we probably wouldn't have used it since time flew by; spent four hours here easily. Highly recommend this place and will be returning if/when I visit D.C. and Baltimore again.
Timothy Hoffman
Awesome day! Great activities for every age. There is an amazing maze exhibit right now with a giant cardboard box maze to walk through. We then climbed the Kidworks tower and had a fun time in the Egyptian adventure rooms. We played soccer before heading to the water play area. I am impressed by how every kid entering Tony's Diner immediately "gets it." There were over a dozen kids playing side by side, taking orders, "cooking" food on the grill top and serving up plates to families at the counter and tables. All the parents were grinning at the show. It is the best way to pass a high energy day!
Gretchen Heinlein
We went to Port Discovery while visiting from out of town. What a great space!! I wish we had this at home. My 2.5 year old had a blast, especially on the second and third floors. And there were even activities for the 6 month old. Wonderful experience. Get there early and stay late to get the most out of the entrance fee.
Elisabeth Budd -Brown
Great location for kids 10 and under. Exhibits change a few times a year, but most of the play areas are the same. My kids love coming here every time. Parking garage is around the corner, which may require a stroller for younger kids and at times it can be overcrowded. Validated parking is a big plus.
Sharleen Lindsay
No what it used to be needs more funding. The toys are all old and need to be replaced with new ones. My daughter still had lots of fun but they definitely need to update the older items.
Terrence Savala
Very nice place for kids. Had an amazing time. I heard before covid that the place could get packed if so it may not be as enjoyable. But otherwise very clean place, great atmosphere, and really nice employees.
Gregory Burrell (boss)
Great place to take your children that are younger. Not recommended for some people that can't fit in tight spaces when on the rocker. Hopefully, the new cargo ship they are adding has some more space. Except to move a lot if you have someone younger than 7. The owner has confirmed that you won't be charged if you aren't supervising your young ones the entire time, but it is much advised to watch them majority of the time.
Liesa Ross
Fun place for the kids, but I think the features and exhibits could be better maintained. Lots of the loose pieces that make exhibits and activities interactive are missing, some don't work properly. Though, it doesn't stop the kids from having s ball. It would be nice if they could learn more from complete exhibits.
Amber Bush
Great place if you have high energy toddler. It gets crowded on weekends and holiday breaks. The whole place is set up for learning through exploration. There are a lot of props for pretend play and imitation. Good security measures, they band everyone and children can only leave with adults with matching band numbers.
Alecia Drenckhahn
My daughter loves this place. We always have a ton of fun, but i recommend going any day except Sunday. This isn't related to the venue, it just seems that the crowd that comes on Sunday is less well-behaved than every other day of the week. I also recommend coming when the exhibits are new. The longer an exhibit has been up, the more likely it is to not work or be missing pieces. That being said, they do a good job of mitigating this, and for the amount of kids that go through here it is amazing what good condition everything is in, even towards the end of an exhibit's cycle. There is an area with lockers and cafeteria tables, so you can bring lunch and eat there without having to carry it with you, which is nice. If you'd prefer to eat somewhere else it is within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants and the harbor, and you get "in and out" access with your wristband, so you can leave and come back.
Elizabeth Stogden
Great place to go on a rainy day! It was packed but it didn't feel crowded. So many different rooms with new things to discover! Huge jungle gym in the middle. Kept my 3 year old entertained for hours and my husband and I had fun too! It's a little pricey and there's no cafeteria. They have a bunch of tables so you can bring lunch with you but I didn't know that so we ended up leaving because we were hungry. The places to eat nearby are expensive too so it wasn't a cheap day.
Overall it's a great place, get the Groupon to make the price more palatable, and bring lunch to maximize your time and $
Ella Shollar
Visited Baltimore from out of town and was looking for fun things that my 1 year old would enjoy. She had a great time here, especially in the Oasis Room (calm toys and books) and really loved the Tot area. I definitely would say though that there didn't seem to be too much for kids older than 5 or 6 to do. But younger than that, I'd say it's a good few full hours.

The museum was great, reasonably priced at $14.50 a person. They have 3 full floors, and my 5 year old and I were here about 4 hours which was the perfect amount of time. There is free parking and it's also walkable to the outlets which is nice. Perfect off-strip activity for kids.
Andrea Lawrence
This is basically an indoor playground, touch-everything museum. But it is a children's museum, so...of course! The center climbing structure can be a little stress-inducing if you have an adventurer. As far as children's museums go, it's a decent size, with a huge range of activities, exhibits and events. There are lockers and coat storage areas on the ground floor, plus a place to eat a packed lunch with vending machines. There is so much to do and see, the kids were kept busy of hours on the 3 story climbing tour in the middle of the museum, water room, soccer area and crafting. The museum was clean and well organized.

Very interactive great for kids definitely would go back
Nosferatu Dracula
Good for a day out, needs a refresh.
My kids and I have been here three times over the past two years. The places main attraction is the internal, three story jungle gym at the center of the building. The majority of other features are strikingly run down and in dire need of a refurbishment.
Nathan Sanchez
Great place for kids to learn, but also run around and burn off a bunch of energy! They have sections for different ages; including a water play section for those younger than elementary school. The multi-story climbing tower/crow's nest/tree house is one of my kids' favorite things.
Leland Stedge
Great place for young children. My daughter loved it there, keeps asking to go back.
Mike LaMonte
Looks can be deceiving about how much fun it may look but with a staff that could clearly care less about safety my daughter was almost trampled by not only other kids but by adults trying to play. This location is a fun time on a slow day when alot of people don't drop their kids at the door and sit on their phones till they hear closing time I'm sure but be safe. Play on...
Malissa Perez
Super awesome place for kids, there is so much for them to see and do. I let my 9 year old loose pretty much on his own and he had a great time. My three year old had fun too but she was shepparded by my husband. She was able to do just about everything with his help. It can get a little crazy with all the kids running around but there is a specific toddler room that's away from the kids chaos of the main areas of that makes them more comfortable. The worst part is dragging your screaming kids out of there because it's time to leave but they want to stay lol
Jamella Horne
A great fun learning place for kids. Its very clean. It has sanitize stations everywhere. They also have disinfectant wipes for you to use.The staff are very very friendly.I love that they encourage people to wear their mask. Will go again.
Carine Nouboussi
I'am half ashamed to admit that I enjoyed this visit as much, or maybe more than the kids in my group, lol. My friends and i booked a visit for our kids, ages 6months to 10 years old. ALL the kids found something of interest. Some of the activities were very age restricted, and some were inclusive. There were clean bathrooms on all 3 floors, sitting spots for old bones, lol, a large dining area and a nice coat area. The activities were superb too: basically, the kids learned skills and facts while playing, a win win for everyone.

Great place to take the kids... they love it! My nephew cried every time we left a room.... then got all excited when we entered a new room and started playing again... so much to do he just didn't want to leave. My daughter enjoyed herself again.... always nice that they have different exhibits so there is always something new each time we go.
Ashly Muttera
Great place with lots to do for all ages, it did get pretty packed but it was new years eve
Anikka Edwards-El
This place is AMAZING for young kids! It's 3 or 4 floors of fun! A huge climbing frame, a play diner, a blow up soccer ball field area, a music/sound room, a water play area & always a featured event! It's a little pricy, but if you go every 3rd Friday of the month from 4-8pm & it's only $2 per person! Or you can always get a membership! Well worth the drive!
jayashree nagarajachar
Not that bad. You can take your kid once not more than that. My son liked the place. Its worth spending $16 per head but was not hygienic and smells a lot in bathrooms. No food is available within the museum and its better to carry food and water with you. The activities were good for kids.
Nika Simmons
My Daughter loves this place I always enjoy it as well to see her so happy and attentive to all the exhibits melts my heart!
Tim Wade
At the time I visited themuseum was undergoing renovations and most of it was closed. Even so, they provided a delightful experience for my daughter. I intend to return after the project is complete, at which time I have no doubt this place will fully earn 5 stars.
In the meantime just be aware that the of activities is greatly reduced for the next several months.
Reza Manbachi
Overall it's an excellent place for children of any age. They have a specialized toddler section too. Admission for kids under 2 is free, although I don't understand why we have to pay for parents too. North of the border, most places only charge for kids & not the parents accompanying them.
They give you a wristband for multiple coming in & out throughout the day.
The ideas & thoughts behind each section is appreciable.
I wish there was a quiet section for napping of little ones too.
Birthday parties are also accommodated.
The parking beside the museum is expensive, but the museum security stamps your ticket which gives you a $5 discount.
MT Patel
We went for a birthday party here and our kids had a blast. So much fun both the kids and adults. They had a lot of other activities for kids who weren’t attending the birthday party too. Definitely a place to take your kids so they burn off some energy!!!
Eric Suh
This is a wonderful place to take the family. They have several floors of exhibits and hands on activities that the kids can engage in. it is definitely worth going to.
Dan Trachtman
There were enough activities for our 1yr old and 3yr old to spend a few hours. So much to do and a lot of fun. My only suggestions would be:
Larger restroom signs you can see from anywhere
The token machine for the lockers confuses everyone
Healthier food in both vending machines
Merlin -they-
Tons of play areas for children of all ages. My best friend's kid had a ton of fun climbing on everything and playing in the water area. The only reason this getting 4 stars is that they have a big slide that they will not let an adult go down with a baby. The sign says 1 at a time, so they think that a 1 year old should go down by themselves. That's insanity.
Ted Peterkin
This was a great experience for my grandchildren even though the museum is under renovations. We still had a great time, we are looking forward to seeing the results of the renovations. It promises to be an exciting opportunity for all that will attend. Can't wait.
Dennis Crouse Jr
We came for my son's 7th birthday with a small group. The kids loved everything and we were able to see and enjoy everything in about 4-5 hours. My favorite is the ancient Egyptian area. The only problem we had is we bought our tickets in advance online and walked straight around to the express area and we were told we had to wait in the line still... isn't that the point of buying in advance? Luckily the line wasn't too long but think this could be changed.
Tina LaShawn
A wonderful place for kids to have a great time and be adventurous, my kids can't get enough of this place.
Katie McGrath-Studniarz
Super fun children's museum full of fun exhibits with things to discover and do! There is a parking garage next door which is convenient but it is not cheap and there is no café on site. Plenty of bathrooms on each level. Bring a towel or change of clothes if your child wants to play in the water area. If your child isn't wearing sandals they have crocs in various sizes and rain coats they can borrow. Went for an after hours special event so I'm not sure how crowded it would usually be.
Jameson Cunningham
Great for little kids. Newly renovated.
Charlene Rogers
I took my two grandchildren there yesterday there was not a lot to learn but the activities such as soccer was something they enjoyed. the one thing I thought was totally ridiculous as we were leaving the armbands had to be check for the numbers.my grandson's number had almost completely come off due to him playing and I was given somewhat of a hard time by the person to show a picture of him not taken that day. I understand security but you need to come up with a better system than that. either have arm bands that are better made so the numbers won't come off as children play or something that makes more sense
Jessica Petersen
We had so much fun ! There is so much to do here ! I can’t wait to go again ! It was extremely crowded but that’s probably bc we went on dollar day ! They have so many different areas and it’s a lot of walking so if you don’t like to walk I don’t recommend it but we had a blast ! My kids are 8, 4, and 2 and every single kid had a blast ! They have an area for ALL ages and the kids were so happy !!!! If you’re looking for a fun trip with your kids this is your place !!!!

This museum knows their clientele. There's a network of tunnels, rope ladders and slides to change floors and go into exhibits! There are stairs and elevators too if you're not a child or child at heart. I think the museum is best for 7-12 year olds but there is something for everyone here. There's even a dedicated sensory space for those under 2 littles. By the way, if you have under school-age kids, try to come on a weekday-Saturday starts getting crowded early. Bring your own food and put it in a locker until you're ready to sit and eat in order to maximize your museum play time (and stretch your dollar). There's a nice eating area but vending machine food will only take you so far. Lockers are available for rent but are first come first served.
Aisha Gladden
It's a wonderful place to take your child. I like the no hassle eating area. You're not forced to purchased their products. You can bring your own lunch. My children had the best experience when we're 4 years old and up. Honestly Storyville at the Rosedale Library serves the same purpose when the child is 5 and under.
Lisa Yetter
My 3 year old grand daughter LOVED IT
Robin Ripley
My three year old loves this place. The central play structure makes me wish I was a kid, too. Would give it 5 stars if they had a place inside to buy a meal like the aquarium does instead of just a place with vending machines where you can sit and eat snacks. My kid would stay all day if we didn't need to leave to get food.
Diary of a PISCES
I actually was surprised at how much work they put into keeping everyone safe. My family and I felt so comfortable, im not sure if we even noticed a change. My children played like Corona never happened. Thank you for all that you have done Port Discovery.

This place is amazing. We just had our kids birthday party there and we could not be happier. It is an amazing place for kids to have fun. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Highly recommend.

This is by far the best experience I have had with a childrens museum. We took our 2 year old here and he had a blast. There are things to do in all ages that really support learning and growth for your child. Water rooms, toddler areas, obviously the big play area in the middle. We spent 4 hour here and could easily go back.
Price was reasonable considering the experience. If we lived closer to it, we would definitely have gotten a yearly pass. We have a membership to the Childrens Museum of Richmond and, while thats great, this one is worlds better. Highly recommend.
Quanita Bost
It is a great museum for sure, but is for kids 6 and under. The older kids, like my son stand around bored looking for something age appropriate to do. They definitely shouldn't be charging the parent.18.00 and older kids 18.00.
Juan Pablo Gomez
Had a great time here with the family and my daughter had a blast. She was very upset when we had to leave.
Toccara Mo
Affordable and huge. Great place for kids of all ages to have free play. We took 1 year old babies and there are only 2 areas they can play in but there is a ton of stuff for them to interact with. They do discount parking so that's nice.
totallywhosyou mom
So much fun, the children don't realize it's also educational.
Dan Ng
Great place for the kids! Make sure you catch the specials at $5 a head! I was expecting a total germ fest, but there was pretty much hand sanitizer every corner. Kids loved it! Just don't let the little ones get lost in that crazy climbing area...
mna230
This place is a total homerun for the kids. Clean, safe, totally engaging for kids of all ages up to pre-teen or so. We spend 4 hours here and we have to drag my kids out of the place. There are 3-4 floors with 4-5 zones on every floor with a different activity or focus. They have zone for different ages as well, like a water play room for the wee ones and more advanced zones for the older kids.
Spanning all the floors is an amazing tree house jungle gym structure in the middle which my kindergartener loved - he is just on the cusp of being able to do the whole thing himself.
One point of note is there are only a few vending machines on site, so we bring our own packed lunch and the have a great eating area by the entrance.
Erica Corbet
We have had a family membership here for 3 years now. My kids love it and always have a blast. No food on the premises though so make sure you bring snacks or lunch if your kiddos will want to eat. There's plenty of restaurants in the area within a 15 minute walking distance.
Castor Robinson
Love coming here with my son! Always have admission discounts or specials, and they offer a wide variety of activities for children of all ability levels. I greatly appreciate the focus on racial, cultural, and family unit diversity.
Jessica G
This place is AMAZING! Believe it or not, we were here from 10 am to 5 pm. Luckily you can leave and come back, so we were able to grab some lunch and re-enter. My 4 and 9 year old had a blast!
David Altemose
Best place ever for families with young children. Hands on learning and exploring including 4 story play place. Lockers available. Outside food permitted with tables and chairs provided. All family members get matching numbered wrist bands which are checked in your way out so no one leaves work the wrong crowd.
angelica burns
Parking can be a mess but when it comes to Interactive discovery and play this is the place to go. Bonus as it actually has a young toddler are so my one year old can play and eventually grow into the more children aged areas. It has a sand area, a room dedicated to water, a large center structure for climbing and exploring, a small cafe area.
Caleb P
Awesome museum with a ton of things for kids to do. From waterplay to climbing, to imaginative play in the mini diner, this place can occupy kids for HOURS. The staff are attentive and seem to be doing a good job of making sure everyone is safe.
Vicky
Nice children museum in downtown Baltimore, wasn’t as big as I expected. There are a few games but I wish they had a variety of options for the kids coming to enjoy. Pretty affordable too.
Ken Fitzgerald
Beautifully designed. It's not huge but the attention to details (particularly those of interest to kids) makes it a terrific place to spend an afternoon. There aren't many options for food (two vending machines, if I remember correctly) but they had good options: healthy or unhealthy. Could use more hand sanitizer stations.
Antwann Thomas187
i never went when i was a kid so when i took my daughter there just coming in the door we had to wait 10 mins to go on the slide staff was really disrespectful at the slide,Lightskin girl long hair scared my daughter out the line then we go to the arts an crafts the girl in there said no one can use the arts an crafts im like that's stupid when we just sanitize our hands it was only 4 people in the room 10 mins to go in im like smh i was ready to go ive wasted 81$dollars but im not going back not for 81$
Denise Maier
Lots for a 2-3 year old to do. However, they really need a slide for kids not tall enough for the huge slide.
Lauren Brunner
This museum is terrific. A bit pricy but buying the membership is worth it if you plan to go more than once. There’s a lot to do and my five and three year olds had a blast. I appreciate the open seating for a bring your own picnic lunch. Have to say that the heroin junkies that are all over the street outside of the museum is a big turn off. I’m not talking panhandlers. I mean individuals nodding out with a needle in their hand on a bench outside. From the third floor window you can even look out to see a cardboard box propped up where people are obviously copping their drugs. Walking by these zombies is a bit disturbing and I wish the museum would do something about it. Watching people score their drugs is obviously a turn off
Tonja D
We really like the children’s museum and got a membership last year. The only thing is that it’s expensive to come. Even with the pass, you pay $15 to park each time and it adds up. Unfortunately, we didn’t use our pass often enough (honestly because I never felt like going just to pay more for parking) to make it worth purchasing again.
Garry Pinner
So many things for kids to do! Cargo nets, slides, drum room, learning classrooms, water room, soccer court, etc. The one thing I didn't like is that it can be very hard to track your children when they are climbing up the tree house, nets, etc. They can get off at any of the 3 levels. Make sure you tell your children to meet you at a meeting point if you can't physically climb through everything with them. Lots of fun!
Amy Patterson
Staff was great, friendly, and attentive. I enjoyed that there was limited capacity, the staff made sure they rotated people through heavily traveled areas to ensure all visitors had time especially the water play area.
David Pittman
Great place to bring the kids. Always something going on and the four story indoor climbing structure is impressive. Get a family membership and go all year.
