Reviews of The Breman Museum
Do not miss this place! It's an absolute cultural gem. History is so important and the care, thought and work put into these exhibits is priceless. I truly treasure my visit and hope many more people have the incredible opportunity to visit as I did.
This is an amazing museum. A hidden gem Everyone needs to go. There's so much to take in. Such powerful collections. An amazing experience.
An incredible Museum. Everyone should visit if you have the opportunity. It was very educational. There is much to see and learn. The Holocaust victims & survivors stories and much more.... There is also a shop where you can buy books like Anne Frank's Dairy. You can purchase a ticket Or you can check out a PASS at your local library like we did.
This was excellent and actually scary at the same time. To see the atrocities that were suffered by the Jewish people is shameful. To see that one man can bring about so much hatred is not believable. I recommend that everyone see this museum. It gives an accurate depiction of the time period.
When you visit or live in Atlanta GA you need to visit this museum. The museum's display is very heartfelt and powerful. You are able to speak to the survivors of the holocaust and hear their personal stories. My reason for the 4-star rating was the speaker was too long (, for this type of museum they need a trained orator.
So much history to be learned and remembered. Loved the interviews from people who survived the horrific Hitler regime.
As one survivor says"...if you begin to demonize people...to separate a particular group of people from society...it can happen again"
Went to a bearing witness talk. George was a great speaker. It was very interesting to heaths story. I highly recommend their series of guest speakers. The museum itself was ok, lots of photos with stuff to read.
The Breman is a must. A great facility and very educational.
The volunteer docents who have guided us through the Holocaust exhibit have been wonderful. I have taken several classes. Thank you.
This place is amazing! I went here for a field trip with my class, and had an awesome experience. Very sad and heavy, so if you have little ones, you would NOT want to take them. I would highly recommend bringing kids 12+ to this museum. I had an amazing tour guide, who made the experience even more worth it. If you love Jewish history, this is the place for you!
I love this place... I went with my Husband, son, and his friend!!! (7/22/2019) There is so much history in this museum, and they bring it all to life through pictures and artifacts... You can visit your local library and get free admission for four people by checking out a pass. I have read about the Holocaust, but its nothing like seeing it face to face...Nothing really prepared me for all of the valuable information I learned... A lot of the information was heartbreaking... Especially when it came to the children...Starvation is a slow death and I would not wish it on my worst enemy... They also had a Houdini exhibit which had a lot of interesting facts about Houdini... I would definitely come back so that I can read EVERYTHING and really take my time... I came two hours before closing so it was not enough time to read everything but I still enjoyed myself... Staff is really nice and the bathrooms and museum were clean...
Went to check out the Houdini exhibit. You have to user the buzzer to get into the parking area.
The staff was super friendly. We spent about an hour in the Houdini exhibit. There's a ton of information, it can be overwhelming.
After going through the temporary Houdini exhibit, we quickly wandered through the permanent collections, but decided those exhibits would require a separate dedicated trip. We'll be back for sure.
Definitely a place in Atlanta to see. I'm not Jewish, but it still presents an important perspective of history.
ABSOLUTE MUST SEE IN ATLANTA! I attended over 10 holocaust museums domestically and internationally, and this is among the absolute top! From design, aesthetics, to use of technology, to guiding principles and spirit this is a required see for all who care about humanity. They start with a book that drives home the sheer volume of lives lost, and then moves you through history transporting you into the lives of people we all will relate to. You then see the world literally turned upside down, as tracks on the ceiling lead to the ominous gates ahead. This is where they depart from the norm, choosing to focus and emphasize how Jews refused to go quietly into the night, refused to parish without a fight, and persevered by their very existence... transitioning not only in story and imagery but even from cold concrete to plush green carpets. They leverage technology, allowing each person to use their cell phone, as guided tour with stopping stations. A robust IVR system allowing you to pause or push forward, as you take in a testament to humanities worst and very best... one of the last images was of a young bride with a parachute converted into a beautiful wedding dress. Never Forget! Celebrate Life! It's all here!
Took my students on a field trip here and the tour guides were awesome! The presenter did a wonderful job sharing his family's story. I would like to visit again!
We took our daughter to the Breman museum for a field trip. We were able to have a lot of meaningful discussion about what the Jews experienced during World War II. We really loved the layout of the museum and the large amount of information to read. My daughter was able to gain a better perspective as we toured the museum.
The museum provided a fascinating and detailed history of the Jewish community's presence in Atlanta. I learned so many things I didn't know before. The exhibit on the Holocaust was very sobering and moving but parts of it may be a little intense for small children. Definitely recommended.
I visited on a school trip. I had to park across the street at the puppet museum. There was a particular docent who was a little pushy about us viewing the permanent exhibit (which we had done already). Being able to hear a first hand story from a family member of a survivor made up for the exhibits being lengthy text plaques.
A very moving and educational experience for our students. We should "never forget" these terrible events. Museum is engaging and the whole program is memorable and impressive.
I am a history major and I ended up visiting on a field trip. It is very clean and organized, it also has a small gift shop and to finish the entire museum takes about 1-2 hours alone or 1 hour with a tour guide. Very nice place.
One of the most amazing experiences ever. This is a definite must for Jewish Atlantans as well as anyone else living and visiting in the area. The Staff are warm, friendly knowledgeable and beautiful storytellers, but the most amazing experience is hearing the Survivors of the Holocaust speak.
This was a very moving experience! I have read a lot about Auswich, but seeing the pictures, especially the innocent children made it a difficult visit. Especially interesting was seeing the things a blind man created from wire! I wish this had never happened to all those precious souls but it did and we should remember and honor their memories!
Went here on a field trip with my daughter's school. Very interesting history about the holocaust, there was a man there who told his story about how he grew up in that time. I would recommend this place for a real history lesson on the holocaust.
Informative, educational, and fun. The museum offers a variety of permanent and temporary exhibits. It is about so much more than the holocaust. When I went they have a temporary exhibit about the impact of people of the Jewish heritage on comic books and superheros.
Took my grandson to the Sendak exhibit, we both loved it.
The Holocaust exhibit was a chance to introduce my eight years old grandson to his history. It made an impact on him and he wanted to know why, how, will it happen again, etc.
This is a wonderful Museum, especially for children, as it showcases the tragedy of events and showcases the extraordinary will of the people that suffered, perished, and survived this atrocity, without overt photographs of the most vicious and gruesome realities. We should all take the time to remember what happened before during and after the Holocaust, why it happened, and educate our children so, I pray, it never happens again.
The exhibits at the Breman Jewish Heritage Museum are excellent. There is a very moving and educational Holocaust exhibit as well as history of Jewish Atlanta. Well worth seeing by everybody.
Houdini exhibit was extraordinary. I knew about his game and cause of death, but his early struggles were interesting. He was an immigrant who became successful through hard work and learned from his father, who refused all handouts.
A well run museum that teaches all who walk through its doors about standing up for what is right and not to be a bystander. Very active in the community with many events planned throughout the year. If you are a visitor or resident please do not miss this historical museum !
I’m so glad this museum is in Atlanta and shares the history and culture of Jewish people, both in the City and around the world. Their Holocaust “Bearing Witness” series is so necessary and a profound experience.
We have been to many Jewish Museums. It was interesting to get a southern perspective. The Harry Houdini exhibit was educational as well.
Great place! Opened my eyes to a lot of the things that happened in WWII and the Jewish heritage! I'd reccomend anyone who has spare time in Atlanta to visit this museum.
It's a great museum to learn about about jewish history. Their exhibit on the holocaust is better even than I expected and their temporary exhibit was informative. It's worth a visit.
I ventured here with a few co-workers and have to say that it was quite fascinating. We took a tour and a lovely guide who was so informative, funny, and patient. 5 stars!
The Breman Musem acts as an important hub of Jewish life in Atlanta. Special programs, exhibits, and affiliated activities such as genealogy represent broad spectrums of Jewish involvement in the metro area. Of special significance is the museum's collaboration with other city museums. A must see for all visitors, not just Jews.
A wonderful display of the history of Jewish people in Atlanta and the history of the Holocaust. There was a school group visiting while I was there and the guides did a great job of explaining it to the middle school students
Pretty nice building. Learned a lot of new things. The gift shop isn't all up in your face and doesnt force you to go through it after the tour.
I went for the Houdini exhibit and enjoyed it very much. The security to get in was amazingly tight and difficult to maneuver... A sad commentary on our times.
Everyone should go. This will remind you of so much that's going on today in the U.S..The building is beautiful and the guides were wonderfully informed. Please don't forget the past..it so closer mirror the future if we continue to look the other way.
The Breman is a treasure to behold. Its fascinating exhibits, user-friendly environs and historical and cultural relevance offer the visitor an exceptional educational experience - one not easily forgotten.
This museum has captured the purist form of hatred and bravery. The experience reminded me that, "hatred is one of the most dangerous weapons in the world today."
I have enjoyed going there many times to view their permanent and temporary exhibits as well as many events. If you haven't been, I would recommend visiting.
Very interesting. went to a few holocaust programs. all were very entertaining for someone who doesn't like 3-4 hour lectures
This treasure trove includes sculptures and drawing but the strongest collection is, naturally, of Spanish masterpieces by Goya, El Greco and Velazquez (whose Las Meninas is the best-known work of the museum).
It's GREAT. Very informative and helps to understand the suffering experienced during world war 2. This and "SUBVERTED NATION. NET" really ought to be VISITED MORE. Love it!!!
There are a lot of interesting details about influential Jews in Atlanta. There is also a portion of the museum dedicated to the "Jewish Dr. Seuss."
Compelling film & speech from Holocaust survivor Maurice Lynn. So important to hear his life story. Immensely moving.
Viewed the outstanding Houdini exhibit - well worth an afternoon's browse. Check the website for hours.
Very interesting museum. Needs to publicize itself more. Found out about it through Historic Oakland Cemetery. Hidden Treasure in Atlanta.
Wonderful exhibits, programs, authors/speakers on their books...friendly people...a totally enjoyable experience.
A moving experience hearing a Holocaust survivor speak at the Museum. So greatful that this is open to the public.
Only had time to see about half of the exhibits, but was very impressed. Hope to return.
This museum is well designed and is an important place to visit. I would suggest that you set aside a couple of hours for it.
Always informative and well done, even with being open Sunday only, not crowded at all
For adults mainly. But very cool Atlanta history and also has a Holocaust section.
This is a great museum and education center. My family enjoyed it immensely.
I recommend this for people that want to learn more about the Holocaust. Holocaust survivor's talk to us and tell us what they have witnessed.
I was really fun but i went with my school and it was kind of a rushed tour. I'm hoping to go back and take more time to look through it
loved the play. very nice reception beforehand. its a medium small venue
Took 5th grade class on a field trip here. Was very informative. Would recommend
I enjoyed visiting the museum. I didn't enjoy the layout of the exhibits.
I had a nice time with my daughter and had great exhibit.
The staff here is awesome and you learn so much coming here. Definitely a place to go in Atlanta
I am a student and I found this experience one I will never forget. I truly encourage you to come.
Great place to stop by and see the pictures and learn about the Holocaust and Heritage
great place lots of history cool interior and the people seem nice
A great place to learn about the Holocaust and the impact on the Jewish people.
This is a very awe inspiring and uplifting experience for anyone ! Highly recommend this to anyone visiting the ATL
Very informative. Very well kept and extremely interesting. Well worth visiting.
An excellent presentation of Jewish history in Atlanta and of the Holocaust! Very timely also!
One of the better, smaller museums in Atlanta with great programming.
An outstanding cultural and historical treasure for Atlanta. Well worth the time.
Took my class and it was a great educational experience.
We enjoy the presentation from Henry very much..
Great history museum that everyone should see
It's a must see & do, sorry I never took my father there
Fabulous place. Never forget the past, learn from others' mistakes.
Very well done exhibits.
Well organized exhibits with clear explanations.
And extremely place to visit in to learn about the history of the Jews
A true treasure in Atlanta. Everyone should visit.
Everyone should visit at least once and bring friends!
This museum has a moving exhibit about the Holocaust.
Sad but fun I injoined the experience
Interesting history. Great that this place exists.
Staff is super nice and helpful great outing
The craziness of the world today reinforced - so sad and demoralizing.
Totally self directed, calm and peaceful.
A lot of history in this place, for remembrance of our past.
