Reviews of Marietta History Center
Enjoyed the museum a lot. It has a great history selection and a nice lay out. I can't believe we didn't visit this place sooner.
Marietta History Center was very interesting and enjoyable to visit. I purchased a Groupon and had no issues redeeming it. The staff were very friendly and were able to answer any questions we had throughout our tour. This is definitely a great place to visit with older family members/friends if you’re in Marietta Square.
Interesting experience. I went on one of the free days, and the staff was polite and helpful. The museum is small but features a lot of information. I appreciate the fact that they include the African American contributions to Marietta in the museum.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here! The museum is huge, so make sure to leave yourself enough time to walk around. The man working there was glad to fill us in on the background of many relics. When you’re done with the museum, the town of Marietta has a ton to offer. Historic downtown is just steps away from the museum. Well-worth your time!
I was surprised that after living in this area for so long that I, a lover of history museums had never been here. The staff could not have been nicer and left me on my own to explore the site, which was appreciated. There was a couple of other groups, but we were so far spaced from each other, it basically felt like I was alone for most of the visit. The donated exhibits are amazing, and it is a surreal feeling being surrounded by all these historic artifacts. I was so interested in everything I learned from this visit that I immediately went home and watched The Great Locomotive Chase. My only complaint would be the numerous spelling errors on the information boards. In my opinion it isn't a good look for a History center.
Great museum. Hidden gem. Really nice small arms collection.
Nice town to visit, check out the historical area.
This is one of the best museums I have ever been in! I loved it from start (the outside campus) to the very end! Our tour guide was very known and added quite a bit to our tour! I honestly can't say enough good things about it! Everyone should go atleast once!
Interesting little museum in a historically significant building. Employees are very warm and welcoming. My 8 year old really likes it and wants to go again, for the third time. How often do you get kids wanting you to take them back to a museum lol
Wonderful collection of history of Marietta. I enjoyed my tour so much. Great historians there to tell about various Marietta collections. Museum is very well organized. Great place to visit!
Very enjoyable, well curated. Small enough to see everything in one visit, varied enough to keep your interest and create a spark fir deeper research. Lovely little gift shop too!
Such a neat museum to visit! Very conveniently located and reasonably priced!
The Marietta Museum of History is a must-do on a visit to the Square. One new collection on display are photographs from 1899 taken in and around Marietta, including some from Kennesaw Mountain. There are other interesting items and displays to view. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in viewing artifacts or other historical objects.
Great little museum tucked out of the way off the Marietta Square. I went with my son and we had a great time. It was fun to see the history of Georgia and they had more than we expected. We loved the gun collection; it’s huge and takes you through the history of weapons. I’ve gone back a few times now and enjoyed each visit.
One of the Best History Museum in the South! An impressive and extensive collection of Historical Weapons used in every War! Their Collection of Military uniforms is second to none! Laid back Volunteers add to the Southern Charm of this Classic.
What a neat and interesting small town museum! There's so much history in the area and I loved learning about the train heist story! I also loved the location, right in the Marietta square. Lots to do, I would come here on a weekend and visit the rest of the little shops the square has to offer. Highly recommend!
I had a wonderful time at the museum today. Spent two hours there and could have stayed longer. It gives a great overview of not only Marietta history, but Cobb County as well. I really liked the story of the Great Locomotive Chase during the Civil War in the Andrew's Raiders Room and the Military Gallery. I'll be back!
Great experience - easy to miss. Originally a cotton warehouse, converted to hotel. Union spies stayed here before stealing General locomotive leading to 'great train chase'. Some artifacts remain. The rest of museum covers broader Marietta history. Small museum but we'll worth visit.
It's a history museum. You either enjoy it or you dont. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and the exhibits were very unique. It felt like an experience that you wouldn't be able to get somewhere else because of the unique history of the area. Also, the surrounding area is a great place to spend the day.
Great place to visit. There are wonderful permanent exhibits to go through and exhibits that change frequently with very fun and interesting subjects. There are some great things for kids to do and if you're wanting to go outside they have an Aviation Wing for the airplane enthusiast.
The museum has a warm and welcoming feeling to it with very helpful staff and volunteers who are willing to answer any questions and give you some extra background history on people. Definitely recommend stopping in and taking a gander.
Nice museum with several exhibits. Only one floor, so 90 minutes is probably the max for viewing time, but there are plenty of displays from several different eras and areas of interest.
This museum is a great attraction for locals and people stopping through Marietta if you want a taste of Marietta's local history. The museum takes you through decades of history. Cost is only $7 per person. Definitely a good stop to make if you're ever on the Marietta Square.
I love history so I am always excited to visit a history museum. I enjoyed all the exhibits here. It is fascinating to see history and think of the people to whom these artifacts were new.
Great place to visit and enjoy the south
Very nice and well organized. My kids loved the military room and a huge plus they have some hands on stuff available for them bc kids love to touch!
Haven't been, but its history, no matter what type (unless its colonization in america) im good with it, especially war history
Some excellent displays and everyone was so nice 😀
I'm fairly new to GA... So it was nice to learn some local history.
Great history measuem of local events
This is a gem just off the Marietta Square. I had no idea it even existed. But there's several fun activities and items for you to see. It's not very big, should take no more than two hours at the most
Even the building has a rich history. Everything you see inside is just icing on the cake. Wonderful way to spend a few hours while at the square.
Nice historic displays of Georgia history though the Spalding sports exhibit was our reason for going. Jeff was very helpful and accommodating
Very cool place, lots to see. I missed a couple of displays. Photographer is encouraged. Nice gift shop.
A very interesting collection of artifacts, photographs and memorabilia pertaining to Marietta's rich history. Pleasant staff and volunteers.
The staff was very friendly, and we especially loved the military room. It had lots of cool artifacts and interesting information!
I stopped by here a few years ago during the Kennesaw 150th Anniversary. Although I'm glad I stopped by I believe it was more or a history of the local area. If I remember correctly I wasn't there very long but it was worth the trip and time.
Fun interesting, but a bit minimal, expected just a little more. Tour guide was a fun person. Good but they could do more with it.
If you love local history, you'll find this place to be facinating.
It was great. A lot of info and displays in a small space. Helpful and friendly staff.
It was small but packed with marietta history...for 7$ a ticket the price is reasonable. Can't wait to come back
Detailed historical information abounds! Must see if you enjoy history and weapons.
The volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter and I enjoy going and learning so much local history!
Very cool. There is a quick tour and then you can look around on your own.
