Reviews of Woolworth Walk
A friend and I walked into this space without any expectations or ideas, and spent nearly two hours exploring the diverse array of incredible talent available in this space. Walking through these displays of talent and creative expression was time well spent! It was beautiful, entertaining, educational, and even inspirational. If you enjoy art and want to see a sampling of works by local/regional creators, if you simply appreciate seeing used of various forms and mediums, or if you are looking for a piece to transform a space, this place is brimming with treasures.
The five stars are for the soda counter inside. The root beer floats are really good and they have Mexican coke! As for the rest, this is an art gallery where you purchase artwork. Not a shopping center like we thought. Some good artwork though, just out of my price range.
Gifts and art you can’t find at your local Target. We were in town for just a few hours and had dinner and walked to explore when we stumbled upon this very cool concept. I have some fond memories of Woolworth’s as a kid so it was a bit nostalgic. Check out my pics!
Great place to buy Arts and crafts. Dime store Diner/Soda fountain also from the Woolworth days. 2 floors packed with Art Cubicles everything from Ceramics photography paintings and handmade jewelry.
Lots of fantastic local art here. Places like this can be very hit or miss, but Woolworth Walk was very well curated and organized. I don't think there was a single booth that we weren't interested in looking through, and we left with a couple of really nice pieces. Keeping the soda fountain functioning is a great touch - we arrived too late to sample anything, but their menu options looked very tasty.
The food counter serves excellent sandwiches and such. Go for the nostalgia and the art. I discovered an artist named Brandon Marks. His work is ethereal and fantasy driven.
This store’s name remembered my teenagers era and it was from the south of the Bronx, NY. Anyway! I went inside the store and they have tons of arts pictures, artisans and jewelry!! I didn’t take many pictures. They have many really awesome, beautiful collections to choose from . If you are in downtown Asheville, take a look around⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love this love this unsuspecting art gallery/store in the middle of the downtown Asheville. With perhaps 100 artists represented, this was a great way to spend an hour. Paintings, Metal art, sculptures and jewelers are all represented. You can even pick up a quick bite or beverage at the early 1900s style soda counter inside. Be sure to visit the downstairs as well. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. This is also a great place to spend some time while on the waitlist for Chai Pani which is right around the corner.
Being of an age where I remember my mother shopping at Woolworth's, it was a real treat to enjoy a banana split there today! The gallery of local artists' works is an excellent way to preserve this little piece of history!
Great place to enjoy a milk shake or a 50's style soda. Did not eat there but watched a fantastic looking turkey and bacon sandwich being made and the recipients seemed to be enjoying the feast.
Great collection talented artists in an amazing space. So many wonderful items to choose from, be sure to check this place out!
Friendly staff, good food. Was awesome to be able to walk around and check out all the artwork. Really liked the motorcycle on display.
Such a fun gallery! Loved seeing the theme with each artist's booth. So many whimsical pieces! The ice cream parlor / diner is worth checking out too! Surprised by the number of vegetarian / vegan options as well. They have a black bean burger and a sorbet float.
So much wonderful art. Friendly folks who check you out with your purchases. Paintings, photography, candles; all sorts of beautiful art in a really nice spot.
Great place to see local artists' work! Really enjoyed all the creativity!
Great display of local artist works for sale as well as an old-style soda fountain food bar.
Amazing use of historic building..original lunch counter is so nostalgic. Lots of local artists display their items for sale.
Great place to look at art, they have very nice pieces of art.
They have a restaurant inside too.
Super cool art gallery in a historic building. This is a great place to find different art pieces and items to take home. There is something for every budget. There are restrooms and food available inside as well.
One thing to note, there was an internet outage or something that happened when I visited, so the credit card machine didn’t work. Not sure if it happens often or if it was just something that happened while I was there, but just wanted to mention that.
Old fashion soda fountain. Great food, amazing ice cream selection.
I was disappointed at the so called old fashioned soda fountain. I ordered an ice cream float. Nothing special. Nothing else in the building reflected the old-time Woolworth store. There were lots of art and crafts for sale. I have to say that it was spectacular. Interesting displays. Just wish there was more historic content or memorabilia of the Woolworth stores.
Fabulous downtown Asheville gallery. Everything you are looking for. Amazing artists huge variety of art. All price ranges! My gallery downstairs first left first right! On the left. So many choices!
We were in town for the Christmas Jam, and everywhere was crowded, with long waits. We REALLY wanted a quick dinner before we went to the Jam, so we stopped in the Woolworth Walk, and went straight to the soda fountain. We got great food, and it was so fast that we had time to browse the work of the amazing local artists, too!
Nice place. Display of individual artist work for sale. Had lunch at original lunch counter. History leaflet told story of black protestors who integrated lunch counter 50+ years ago.
Amazing and inspiring artist a super cool building. The soda fountain is a step back in time with affordable and tasty food. I highly recommend.
A wide variety of fantastic art. I was so impressed with the diversity of the mediums and styles available all in one place. There are 2 floors and even an old Woolworth soda fountain counter. Great location in downtown Ashville. Check it out!
What a shockingly pleasant surprise this place was. Wasn't expecting the amazing quality art and craft type stuff that they have. The Individual artist booths are amazing. This is a must visit Place few are in Asheville. The old time soda bar is also a sight to see.
I used to shop here as a kid when it was a Woolworth, eating at the Ice cream bar.
Now feeling the Nostalgic experience as an adult.
Now it's a Beautiful Art Gallery.
Lots of great artists in here and some local shops as well. Don't forget to make up as this place gets full up quick. And, start with the downstairs and work your way back upstairs. Service is good and ask for tissue paper.
Cool place to see local artisans and have lunch and an ice cream in a beautiful old Art Deco building.
Now this former Woolworth store is an art gallery of sorts. For sale were handmade items.... jewelry, candle holders, glass ornaments, paintings, a motorcycle with many parts made of wood, etc. Very beautiful, most of them. Prices seemed reasonable to good, especially given the prices of other shops and especially galleries in the same downtown area. I didn't purchase anything because our trip was an impromptu one and I had not budgeted much for two days in this artsy locale. I could have spent a bundle, had I known weeks in advance that I would visit here. I'll know for next time.
Worth the time to visit, explore the artist's booths, and enjoy a yummy unpretentious lunch in the Woolworth Walk. You'll surely find a treasure to keep or share here.
What a trip (down memory lane!). Old Woolworths turned art gallery and they kept the old time lunch counter! Looking for affordable local art, this is the place.
It is a step into the past. Great food and the malts ( not as good as Strauss's) are good
Very nice art gallery inside a old Woolworth Store with the original working lunch/ soda counter and full menu. It definitely brought back good memories of the Woolworth and other five & dime stores in my town in Sandusky Ohio while growing up.
What a great way to utilize an old store instead of ripping it down or remodeling it to the point of being unrecognizable.
What a great use for a fine old building!
Browse or buy all manner of art and sculpture as you stroll around this repurposed F. W. Woolworth & Co., and then stop at the Soda Fountain for refreshments.
Great assortment of shops to check out. Local artists and crafters. Several food choices, and the chocolate is amazing.
Always a must stop when in Asheville. Such a good variety of art and homemade jewelry. Loved that they house local artists and promote their work. There is also a counter where you can get a quick bite and a drink. The gallery has two floors. Must recommend.
This is one of my favorite places to explore in downtown Asheville. Love seeing so many artists creations in one place. The deli counter ain't bad either. Did not eat there today but I have in the past and it was very good!
Really cool atmosphere. The ice cream sundae was amazing as well as really cool art on display. The redone soda shop makes you feel like you're in the 20s.
Nice little art walk with an old school soda fountain. Food is pretty good. Nothing special but the prices aren't bad. Art is quite pricey though.
The soda jerks aren't really jerks, so don't worry! After a bite you can peruse a plethora of art and sculpture from the local artisans, all of which is for sale. Wonderful for a little inspiration after lunch.
Great place to walk around and view the work of local artists. A very peaceful, relaxing experience. The feel of a museum without paying an admission price.
Old soda fountain is kind of neat (but Pepsi is nasty)
Some rotating and cool art of sale. Don't miss the downstairs area.
This place was an incredible find. We dined here for the novelty of the lunch counter in an art gallery, but the art displays were beutoful!
Excellent fountain creations with a cool old-fashioned vibe.
I absolutely LOVE this place! Displaying amazing art work! Grab a hot dog and a float at the counter! Such a great wholesome experience!
Love going to this variety store when in Asheville....you definitely don't want to miss it! Nice little diner inside as well. Birthday or Christmas shopping? You've come to the right place. The art here is just one of the amazing pieces you'll see.... all mediums represented.
Excellent use of a historic location. Art displays are numerous but doesn't feel crowded or just thrown together. Nice to spend a few hours looking and picking up either original or reprint art from local artists.
A lot of great artists displayed and a fantastic lunch!
Awesome place for local artists we shopped and bought a few things definitely get in here they have a great old school soda fountain inside as well
Love the Cafe and the wide range of art. A must to visit when nearby and enjoy the friendly staff!
It's an amazing experience!
Great place to visit. 2 floors of various art pieces from local artists. You'll probably find something that you just have to have. Also, the old Woolworth lunch counter is open for snacks and drinks including shakes and floats.
What a blast to the past walking in this place. They still have the lunch counter in operation. The artist's booths are really awesome.
You have to enjoy "the arts" when you visit here. Many visitors there the day I was there.
Interesting location. Historic building with an old time soda counter. The store is now a market for local craft vendors. Very nice.
Love the nostalgic Soda Fountain counter. Great piece of history... Everyone needs to read the history on the wall to the right of the counter. Displaying it more predominantly would be a welcomed sight.
Soda fountain closes an hour earlier than the rest of the gallery... unfortunately online hours don't reflect that.
Wonderful, professional and polite ladies at the counter despite us coming in last minute. Delicious ice cream. Great local art gallery.
10/10. This is a place you must visit when you are in Asheville. The art is beautiful and the soda shop is a lot of fun. Try a chocolate malt for nostalgia!
great place to check out a variety of work by local artisans. A multitude of booths feature work of painters, photographers, sculptors and more. A wide variety of styles, and purchase options at a range of price points.
Asheville my first time visiting they reinvented the building. Downtown I really enjoyed the culture & preserving of downtown.
Nice place to visit. Raleigh no place like home. Best wishes always!
Love this place. The soda fountain is fun and there is such a diverse display of art for sale.
LOVE this! It's beautiful, has many paintings, pottery, woodwork from local artists. And ........... the original lunch counter with the BEST chicken salad sandwich and a great menu. It's a must stop in beautiful Asheville 😍 …
Great old fashioned soda fountain with a dairy free drink as well as traditional sodas.
Beautiful art and so nice to see that they repurposed a Woolworths but still has the food and soda counter.
2nd time I have visited. First time, I was surprised because I actually thought it was a department store but it is actually a cool place to see some of the art produced from local artists. Additionally, they do still have an active soda fountain where you can get a milkshake. If you are in Ashville, I recommend stopping by.
What a great space for finding art. Some very expensive pieces in here, but lots of art for every price range here.
Absolutely great place to come and check out art from some local artists. Two stories filled with different mediums of art, friendly staff aimed to help you make a purchase or just give you information about the pieces your looking at. Also on of the best perks of coming in is the diner located to your right, they have hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers etc. and some of the tastiest deserts for an affordable price. Located right in the heart of AVL, it’s a definitely must do when you visit.
Not only is this shop located inside a once famous chain of stores that was started at the turn of the 19th century and in its hayday in the 1950s and 60s, but it actually has the original Soda Fountain counter which is still serving great food and Malts!
But with all that it's main attraction is the art from all the amazing local talent.
You can spend hours in here and still miss so many wonderful art pieces these artisans have created. This is why once you have visited you will come back over and over, I promise.
Such a wonderful time I spent there for the first time. I'm now hooked.
Do yourself a favor, make a point of visiting soon.
Cute place lots of art and a wonderful atmosphere.
It you like to shop arts and crafts consignment shops, you'll like this. They have two floors of booths of different artist arts and crafts. They also have a lunch counter like there used to be in the Woolworths stores that seemed to be very popular.
What a cool thing to do to preserve an bit of history!
There are quite a few artists booths here on the main floor and in the basement. In my opinion the art is generally of good quality with emphasis on photography and 2 dimensional art. Some of the booths have artists and some don't which can make for a more relaxed "just browsing" kind of experience.
The building also has an old-style (perhaps authentic) lunch counter in it which was pretty cool. I didn't eat there but was mighty tempted.
In the general vicinity there are many other cool buildings or shops so definitely worth popping into and at least taking a peek.
Lots of local arts and crafts of high quality with a yesteryears soda fountain and counter with pretty good basic food like grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. A really fun atmospherr
Could spend days here .....truly amazing art work and so much fun.
Favorite lunch stop in Asheville. Inside the Woolworth building where you can wander thru local artist booths. We had the grilled bologna sandwich, chocolate milkshake, ultimate turkey sandwich & a cherry phosphate. Yum!
I was able to pick up a nice gift for my husband birthday while looking around at all of the different booths that they had to offer.
Love the deli here. Super friendly ppl making great sandwiches and drinks. This time we got a turkey sandwich and a roast beef sandwich that the staff recommended. They were both amazing. The meat was very high quality. We always then tour the art to see what treasures are for sale. It's a great place to spend the afternoon...💕 …
So much fun to walk through and see all the different artists.
Great lunch & milkshake...nice nostalgic ambiance
I've been to Woolworth walk about 3 or 4 times. Each time I go I find something new and different. It's a really lovely place to find all kinds of interesting art at all levels of price. I attached a picture of a collection of really cute magnets that I got for my daughter. She can put her art on the refrigerator in style. The cafeteria counter is really neat and there's always something interesting to pick up. It's a nice place to go when it's rainy or cold in Asheville.
Another amazing place in Ashville to see some art and go back in time at the soda fountain.
There's so much beautiful art to see both upstairs and down. You should allow for a bare minimum of 30 minutes if you're going to enter. There's also the soda fountain which gives you a feeling of stepping into the past! I've enjoyed their tasty floats. There's lot of flavor combinations to choose from. I bought a ceramic rattle from a booth downstairs. It's both lovely art and has such a melodic sound.
A must see! Such talented artists.
Unique items of art. Each booth has its own style.
I miss Woolworth stores. This building had some nice art deco ornamentation.
Eclectic wares from local artists. Have visited in the past and have purchased small items. Great place to sample local artists (though there are a number of other, separate places so don't limit yourself).
Very impress many talented artist with variety of art work. Live performances outside of the store is outstanding too.
The lunch counter was amazing, chicken salad sandwich was awesome
I was worry it might be all 2D art and might bore the kids I brought. I was wrong!! There is quite a bit of 3 dimensional art: wood carving, wire wrap art, stitched art both wearable and not. It was all very unique. The kids saw a ghost or something, they were all out of sorts. So, maybe come if you can have a look around. If you’re with kids, look quickly. 😅 It was absolutely great. I’m looking forward to going back without the 5 and under tikes.
It's the classic beast sandwich for me. I visit them once or twice a week for lunch. Friendly staff, Awesome food, Low price, even better old school frozen treats.
Best part is being able to spend a few moments browsing the Art gallery while your food/beverage is being prepared.
Recommendation for improvement: Implement a loyalty punch card, so regulars like myself can get freebie every once in a while.
It's a great way to get a look at a bunch of art in one spot. If you're looking for a place to pick up something from a local artisan, this is the spot. It also has a full food court, which most people seem to like, but I did not eat there. It's just a really cool spot. If you have some time, check it out.
Beautiful gallery with many affordable prints of art pieces ($25).
What a spectacular place! Two stories filled with amazing art and items. We had so much fun exploring the variety of creations. We also enjoyed a quick break at the soda fountain for a root beer float - what a wonderful addition to the space.
There is some incredible art in here. Wide variety of prices too. I was able to buy a medium-sized print of some fantasy art for $30.
Two stories of all kinds of art work in an old F. W. Woolworth building that is now an artist guild. Our friend lived the lunch counter.
Like this place a lot. The art is great, prices are decent. Haven't tried their food but The milk shakes and floats are really tasty.
Beautiful building with historic cafe counter and local art!
Numerous small art studios. Wide variety. Old soda counter still functions. Clean bathrooms.
Great location for local artists to show and sell their prints. Plus, the original Woolworth's food counter is so nostalgic. Well worth the time.
Wonderful art experience. A wide variety of art and an awesome atmosphere. The soda fountain and ice cream part is so neat too! Wonderful egg creams, super fun vintage styling, very friendly staff. I love it here!!
Art gallery featuring local artists inside!!! They maintained the original facade and the soda fountain!! Great place to enjoy a milkshake and browse local art!
We loved looking at the local artists' work for sale in the Woolworth Walk.
We also stopped at the lunch counter for an authentic malted chocolate shake with whipped cream and a cherry.
This was a great way to preserve an old Woolworth store and it's presence in downtown Asheville, and bring business to a business to a building that contained a business that died several decades ago. If that building had been in my city, I don't know if it would have survived. The art on display was good mix of genres, and some was unique. I shared a malt made at the soda fountain and it was excellent. Go here, buy some food and look at the art. If you see some art you like, buy it.
Amazing array of artists all showing their work in one place!! It's a permanent art fair with high quality work and so much variety. The malt shop is an added plus!! If you're in downtown Ashville coming you need to stop by.
This is my first trip here since before covid. Such a FUN place to shop if you appreciate art, all types, pottery, carving, woven art painting, photography, lovely Jewelry. I love to shop for gifts. I also appreciate that I can find something for a "little" gift for under $10, and I can find lots of very special items when I want to really bless someone with a fantastic item! Artists from all over western NC display here.
Very nostalgic walking through Woolworth. Plenty of art from an array of artists.
Always tons of cool art with convenient tasty food shop inside.
The art is beautiful here. But this review is mostly for the Coca-Cola Bar on the inside. My husband and I were trying to find somewhere to eat at 11am on a Sunday. Everywhere had an hour-hour and a half wait. We decided to come to Woolworths to kill some time and found the Coca-Cola Bar. I got a BLT to hold me over. And I'm so glad I did! Honestly the best BLT I've ever had. Seems so simple, but there was the perfect amount of everything on the sandwich. It stayed together while eating it and really hit the spot.
Great art and wonderful milk shakes.
Best the Soda Fountain, there are many booths with local art.
This place is awesome if you enjoy art. You don't have to be some lover of museum art to enjoy this place. There is an artist with a style for absolutely everyone inside this one building. Everything from bright realistic animal paintings to handmade journals! Even if you dont care much for art the soda bar is incredible too! Its kept up just like it was when they first built it!
I don't even care much about art and galleries but I LOVED this place. Bit of everything. Pottery, metal welding, wire art, lotion candles, post cards, paintings, crafts, modern, old, goth, country... Yeah. Just so interesting. My ADHD was very happy. Love the Soda Fountain too!
Wide variety of art and artists. The soda fountain is popular though not quite a genuine fountain according to one who worked a Chicago area Woolworths many moons ago.
Very cool! Lots of artwork in 2 separate levels.
Lots of beautiful local art in a nostalgic building
If you love art and your in Ashville you must stop here!
I love how local artists are featured here. It's fun to look around and see the many pieces that are showcased. The cafe inside has tasty food and quick service. Great for a quick lunch after walking through the galleries. It's not really the kind of place you'd expect great service since you just order at the deli bar and there isn't table service. There aren't really people to walk you through the galleries, but again it's more of a self guided venue which is the fun part.
Fun atmosphere, great vibe, cool art
You could stay here for hours checking out all the local art! Also the diner is a great touch with yummy drinks.
I love Woolworth Walk. It's a great place to browse local artists work and there is something for everyone. Also something for all budgets. I have my favorites who I love to visit every time. It's nice that you can go back and purchase more pieces in one place. It's two floors so lots to look at. There is also an old fashioned ice cream and food shop. It's good too. Definitely worth a stop or two if you are in the area.
The soda fountain has great food, ice creams, milkshakes... even their coffee is tasty! The girls are friendly, and very well orchestrated and efficient, even during rush hours. Definitely a great place to stop for lunch while visiting downtown.
The art gallery consists of two floors of a variety of extremely talented local artists. From huge metal art work, to beautifully handmade bookmarks. They have it all! They have my 100% thumbs up.
Whenever I come to downtown I try to make it a point to walk through this gallery specifically. The talent and range of mediums is stunning. I always start downstairs to see what is the newest. I love seeing lesser known artists gaining success and getting more prominent booth spaces or moving to an upstairs space. It always makes me feel inspired to go home and start drawing or painting. I have bought several art pieces here and I will be back for more.
Good selection of jewelry, pottery, paintings, and other hand crafted items.
Great to see the original building! Such fun to visit the old fashioned lunch counter and snag some sweets, a giant pickle, or original recipe sandwiches. The art on display and for sale is generous in selection and with a wide spectrum of prices. Something for everyone in the two floors of the gallery. Spacious, well lit, extraordinary place to spend a raging afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in this historic downtown Asheville building.
Amazing space for artists and artisans to sell their work.
Outstanding. Love the retro tasty food. Great staff
We were looking for a cup of coffee and a quick sandwich because we have a reservation for a Curate tonight and wanted something not to filling this afternoon. I loved the nostalgia of the woolworths counter. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She was really friendly and offered great tips on what to see locally. We ordered the bacon lettuce and tomato. My grandson ordered the grilled cheese. Everything was delious and cooked just the way it should be cooked. Really fun and delious experience
Brings me back, but with an updated twist!
The food is surprisingly excellent and the staff is pleasant.
After eating, walk the floor and visit all the talented vendor booths, it's a real treat!!
Gallery featuring local artists. You will find a wide variety of styles - some interesting and some "meh". Pleasant walk browsing the gallery. Soda fountain in the building for a quick bite and rest.
Nice range of select local Artists, jewelers, sculptors, and more. Cute diner. 2 levels! Bathroom for customers.
Great deal on $6.95 sandwich and coffee is great. Lots of art to look at . It’s a time capsule
Cool gallery with a fun eatery in it. Most of the artwork is reasonably priced for how great the work is.
As an out-of-state visitor I was enthralled by the depth and breadth of local talent and artistry in this fabulous venue! Each artist's work is highlighted in individual "gallery" booths allowing them to showcase their items to maximum effect. The result is a very convenient shopping experience for the patron who is looking for that special creation even he or she was not aware they wanted! After exploring two vast floors of items, one can relax with refreshments at the original Woolworth's diner, fully restored and operating. Delightful!
The old-fashioned lunch counter (soda-fountain) was pretty cool, but the attraction for me were the small booths you can walk through to see the works of local artists. There are many different genres to view. I enjoyed collecting their business cards so I can look at more of their work later at home, as I didn't plan on spending any money on art. The artists are not in the booth, and there is ample room to walk and browse around. A really enjoyable visit.
Cool place to walk around and check out all the art. Stopped at the soda fountain of course and had a malt and a shake. Not something that you get to see all the time and a neat experience.
I recently went into Woolworths and was asked to leave as I did not have a mask.
When asking for a mask they state that they do not provide them as they do not wish to compete with the artists who make masks for sale
At which point I asked the woman working behind the counter: as someone who works in retail and gets mask shipments for customers, I see that you have a disposable mask. Do you really not have any?
They still refused to provide a mask
Ask yourself: are we really okay with monetizing public safety?
What about those who don't have means to buy a mask?
I left the store and actually found a mask in my pocket whereupon I went back into the store and voiced my concerns to the manager.
She was very receptive and we had a great dialogue, I truly appreciate her taking the time to speak in detail with me about my concerns.
However, it was conveyed that they will not provide masks for the public.
We cannot stand for the gentrification of public health.
Buying a $40 chic mask should not be the only option.
One of my favorite spots in Asheville. You can see art from a myriad of talented artists, in many mediums.
Everything from a small, inexpensive souvenir to a statement piece for your home.
Grab a bite, or just rest a minute in the soda fountain area.
And don't miss the downstairs.
Creative and unique local artists. Two floors of ceramics, paintings, sculptures and stuff. Worth a visit!
One of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch. The original charming lunch counter n stools are still there. Want ice cream they still have the fountain. The prices are affordable. While you wait you can walk around and check out all the Artsy things they have. Your can find things like photographs paintings sculptors
All kinds of handmade items. There are two floors to check out.
The same building as the old Woolworths now houses an artists space and the original Woolworths cafeteria
Great place...unique Art display walk through. The 50's style diner is great in appearance and food EXCEPT no real burger is available..only a veggie burger and after u sit down u have to get up from ur seat and pay at the register if paying with a card.... Which are the only reason I gave this 4*...if it wasn't for those two things it would be a 5* My expectation of a 50's diner was that they would have real burger like back in the 50's. However the other food choices were good. They have a BLT and hot dogs that have a great taste. I also had a strawberry shake that was excellent. When ordering a shake, it is enough for two people. As I finished the shake they poured for me I poured the additional amount in the metal mixing cup into my glass which filled it up again...which is great since the shake costs $6 but if u share it's only $3 a piece. Art gallery was very appealing...several booths caught my eye especially the Art of Abandonment display. Overall a great experience.
A wonderful variety of artist and their work. Having the lunch counter remain and in use brings back awesome childhood memories.
Many local artists 🎨 have their work here.
We enjoyed it. Came away with some unique finds. Yes they sell the art here. …
As an artist, after walking through, I was super inspired! There is a few open floors of a wide arrange of awesome art!
I wish I had more time to look around!
To top it off... there was an sweet diner inspired cafe to have a quick bite and a cup of joe!
Happy face moment!
Very cool artwork fir sale. Also had lunch at an old time soda fountain. FUN!
I really liked the walk. There are many different artists offerings here and I love that the building has been repurposed and kept alive. The lunch counter is still in it's original form and adds a great bit of nostalgia.
We went for the renovated soda counter and stayed for the art. Lots of excellent vendors, a fun way to spend an hour.
Great place to look at art soda fountain nice bonus.
What a great way to repurpose a large retail space. Dozens of local artists offer a wide variety of works and price ranges. You need to set time aside if you are really going to experience what is on exhibit. Hungry? They have an old time food counter, kind of a fun and neat experience 👍 …
Always love it here and make a point to stop in whenever I'm in town! Great spot for a snack and to warm up while enjoying fantastic art/wares.
I love this gallery~ Whenever I'm back in town, I always get a cheerwine and walk through the booths. Some artists have been showing here a long time but there's always new artists to see as well~ There's a little something for everyone here, it's an excellent place to find gifts and support local artists. If I were still local, it'd be wonderful to show here~
Amazing gallery not to be missed in Asheville. Everything is by local artists. The food at the Woolworths diner is really good too for a quick bite
I adore coming here for lunch when I'm working downtown. The food is good, consistent, and very quick. The lunch counter is perfect for either eating with a friend or solo, and the environment is great for walking around after. The only downside is the line can back up—especially in the summer when tour groups gravitate there for a quick bite.
Great gallery with a neat soda counter with sandwiches and stuff. We just got floats so can't comment on the foot but the ice cream was good. The art is the focus though and like most of Asheville it's got tons of great local and regional artist's work
Accidentally found this place and loved it. A ton of beautiful art all from local artists.. which you can buy of course ! Deff recommend stopping by if you're around. Staff was super nice and helpful.
The diner counter is a cool place to stop and the store is converted to artist galleries. Very nice display of affordable keepsake pieces to remember your trip to Ashville.
If you love art, nostalgia and diner style food and beverages you're in for a treat. 2 floors of local art to enjoy/purchase and great shakes to consume during your visual over load.
Great 2 story gallery of a wide variety of artists' work (for sale) . Once again I was struck by how much formidable talent and creativity there is around us. Virtually every medium and type of art is available and it really is a place I think has something for everyone.
Loved all of the different art..neat place!
Really loved the variety of artists. So much to see on both levels. Plus, you can get food at the lunch counter. Great way to spend an hour or two when you're downtown.
Was an AWESOME place. Plenty of beautiful artwork and the soda fountain brought back memories of the original Woolworths. I ordered their Rueben sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. I highly recommend it, but better be hungry or willing to share!
Love this place! Super neat experience to walk through and see the vast majority of artisans and their work is locally produced. By far the best collection of unique and well-done craftsmanship I have seen in one venue. Time is easily and enjoyably spent while walking through!
There was some very nice artwork from local artists here. It was a funner experience to see art this way versus your typical stuffy gallery. The pricing was quite decent for original work. They also have a refurbished soda bar to add to the charm. Two levels worth of work of many different mediums. If you end up visiting downtown Asheville this is a worthy stop.
One of,Asheville's finest treasures! The wide variety of local artists talent displayed and for sale is amazing! And the nostalgic lunch counter is a must to try!
Great art, fair prices! In addition to art, you will find custom jewelry, pottery, sculptures, leather goods, wood carvings and just about any type of artistic craft. Support these local Artisans, they are some of the best in the mountains, if not the country.
Went here on vacation. I love this place can easily be a free excursion for hours. We breezed through in 1 he and bought a few pieces of art I could have spent thousands here. Great art and vibe on any budget. Don't miss this place
Interesting mid century modern drug store converted to a gallery. Food counter has soda fountain fare. Art in the gallery is a little pedestrian, but it's a cool venue. Other shops and restaurants nearby make this a nice destination.
Great Classic Woolworth Soda Fountain. Good food with decent prices. I think the last one I was in when was I was 16 in Atlantic City.
Best ice cream soda I've had in over 60 years. Can't wait to go back for a second one. Thank goodness I only live an hour away. Wish I'd found this 25 years ago. Oh! The crafts and art works are fantastic too! Well worth a special trip.
So many local artists booths in one setting! It is a unique space! The soda fountain is a great please to take an affordable break from walking downtown to enjoy a milkshake or sandwich. I highly recommend a visit.
Was really nice. Lots of art for sale, 60% or so were really good in my personal tastes. They have an old soda fountain / diner counter inside as well. Trump is a disgrace and his coronavirus is wrecking the economy
The art gallery is nice, but the vintage soda bar is what I love. They have great sandwiches, root beer floats, and a cool thing that spreads out the straws when you pull up the lid.
I love this place! I buy a lot of art here. It's 100% local artisans. They kept the original dinner bar inside so you can grab lunch there, too.
A lot of cool artist from paintings to sculptures to metal art. The range of different styles doffer from one to another. Cool place. They do have a small cafe inside.
Nice to be able to see things from multiple artists. Didn't have anything from the soda fountain but something smelled good
If you are in downtown Asheville you have to stop at the Woolworth. Local artists show off/sell their work and you can get a treat at the old fashioned soda fountain!
A must visit gallery! Over 100+ booths of local artists including photography, paintings, pottery, jewelry, crafts. Something for everyone!
Great venue for regional artists, and the retro milkshake bar is very cool. They have a great collection of artists, something for every taste in a variety of mediums. Located conveniently in downtown Asheville, and worth a stop as you wander the area on a nice afternoon.
Often overlooked, but a vital part of the downtown scene. You can spend an entire afternoon in here at the quaint retro soda fountain and the two floors of local art. This is where to go when you want to feel better. A fine place to hang out.
Beautiful art for sale in a vintage Woolworth. Lunch at the original soda fountain was delicious too.
Neat art gallery with tastes for everyone. Nice leisurely walk through stalls.
Touring Asheville and stopped in at this place. Loved it! Love being able to easily purchase art from local artists.
Stopped by the lunch counter. They have gluten free options. Mom had the curry chicken salad on GF toast. Dad had the hot dog w sauerkraut. Husband n I split the fried bologna. It all went great w rootbeer, cheerwine and nehi grape sodas. After eating some nostalgia it was great to walk around and check out all the great art for sale from all the local artists displayed. Plan on spending over an hour. There are 2 floors of amazing art for sale.
Interesting place with about three dozen ateliers. On Sunday, most artists were absent, but their work remained on display. Majority of artworks seem to be in photography and painting prints, some pottery and textiles.
Very cool art; traditional and otherwise.
This place is a must go to location if you ever went to a Woolworth store in your life. They replicated one of the old Soda Shops that used to be in every Woolworth and the food is authentic to the old Woolworths menu. I got a fried bologna sandwich and a Vanilla Malt, made me feel like a kid again. Really loved this place
Great milkshake and food.
Loved the amazing art collection
Great to see so many artist under one roof
Well organized
Great collection and variety
Something for every budget
And above all very helpful staff at the checkout
One of the most diverse galleries I've seen. And the phosphors were delicious at the counter. Have to say I was surprised when I walked in...wasn't expecting the sheer amount of art! It was Great.
We always go to the diner. Fast, cheap, tasty sandwiches. Ice cream and coffee afterwards! The girls and (I assume) the owner/manager are oh so super nice. We love them and the food and the atmosphere!
Nice redevelopment of an old Woolworth's store with locally produced arts and crafts. The diner/soda fountain puts out very good sandwiches and soda fountain treats including egg creams, phosphates, milk shakes, cones, sundaes, etc.
What a great historic site that used to be a Woolworth, but now plays host to an artists co-op where artists can display their wares for sale and there is a central cashier who takes care of the transactions. It's like antique malls with multiple vendors, but more fun since it is original art. The only drawback is that the artists are not available if you have a question. They have also preserved the original soda fountain and counter so you can stop for a snack and a soda shake. If you like original art, this is a must stop.
Really cool selection of arts! There's literally something for everyone here. There's a good selection of small items for gifts as well as a variety of things to take home! Statues, paintings, metal work, clothes - they've got everything.
Really cool art vendors in here with a real soda fountain!
Beautiful place to visit
Beautiful art to appreciate and to choose from very friendly staff
It is wonderful to see a business that supports local artists. I have found so many beautiful and unique gifts here over the years. It is a unique space and the inventory changes regularly, so you never know what you might find the next time. I highly recommend a visit.
My children love to come to the "Werewolf Walk", as they call it, for ice cream and sandwiches before looking at all the cool artwork. The service is always great! It always makes for a good activity when downtown.
So much art! I love to buy something made in each new place I visit. This was the perfect place to find the right pieces. I loved the old lunch counter too. If you love local artists it's worth visiting.
This is the most amazing place ever. Wonderful art up and downstairs. And the soda shop has the best choices for food, soda pops and ice cream. I had the turkey bacon honey mustard apple sandwich... to die for!!!
I love this place! The old fashioned soda fountain is a lot of fun, the service is delightful, and I love all the art. It's one of my favorite places to go downtown.
Really loved this place! I bought some pieces from there, and saw something there that I wanted to buy for a friend. I couldn’t buy the item because my friend was with me and I knew it was going to be an Xmas gift. I took a picture of the item, and emailed them through their site a few weeks later.
I got in contact with Karli and Ali and they helped me pick out the item, and get it shipped to my house...BEFORE CHRISTMAS! Such a great spot, and I am so grateful for their friendly staff.
Fun place to see eclectic art. Think flea market for artists, except no one manning the booths.
Blast from the past, sitting on the swivel counter stools. Hotdogs were tasty, but a little over cooked. Pineapple Coconut Milkshake was YUMMY!
The Woolworth Walk is a wonderful place to visit when in Ashville. Local artists are given an opportunity to feature their art as well as sell it. There are artists booths located upstairs and downstairs. I loved walking down each aisle taking in all of the beautiful pieces of art! I think the most memorable part of the Woolworth walk is the Woolworth Lunch Counter. It is very nostaligic and if only I could have ordered my grilled cheese with french fries the experience would have been complete. The childhood memories all rushed back and my children at least were able to order a milkshake and soda from the fountain. Don't miss this unique place when in Ashville!
Awesome art gallery with an array of different artists (and price points). Very unique stuff! The soda fountain was delicious too 😋 …
Great place for local (NC) artists to showcase their work. Two levels set up with "booth" for individual artists to show and sale their work. Also an old school soda shop is located here serving drinks and grill fare.
Like an indoor art fair. So much talent to see in each booth. Many different creations and expressions of art. The food counter was delicious as well.
The counter and stools bring you back to the 70s. My rubine was great and everyone friendly and generally in a good mood. They do sell some great stuff but maybe a little expensive but some original items for sale.
Asheville is very pretty. Walked in front of Woolworths. Bought a pretty piece of artwork. Ate across the street at Isa's. Very good place. Walked inside the Grove Arcade on another street. Gorgeous inside. Beautiful chandeliers. Lots of stores inside. Mr. Grove designed it and died before it was finished. It was closed in World War Il and then completed.
We came last year stumbled upon it to stretch our legs after long ride. It's in an old Woolworth store for those who remember that back in the day...found a restored old fashion luncheon counter serving delicious and very reasonable priced sandwiches and milkshakes cokes in the old fashion green coke glasses really cool fun place. Lots of artisans we bought some watercolor prints worth a visit. Ps we are copper artisans so we've been around this is mostly clay and paints and jewelry some glass..
Interesting collection of art. Unique concept
Full it artistic crafts of different types. Browse both floors in what was once a working Woolworths Department store downtown. Get artistic inspired. Some things you might could make but just buy it instead.
Different kind of arts for sale. And if you don't want to buy, just walk the space and enjoy the exhibit of different artists and completely different styles of art.
Yet another unique place that makes Asheville fun and always interesting. Great collection of local art. The lunch counter provides a great place for a quick lunch or a tasty treat.
Loved this place! Some really great artists and lots of variety.
Definitely try the food and milkshakes. We were a big group and decided to try a bunch of stuff and everything was so yummy.
We had fun exploring this store. Very nostalgic.
This is a great art gallery featuring art from hundreds of local artists. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at every exhibit, there's something for everyone. The art is actually pretty affordable too
I was impressed with the quality of most of the artwork. An old Woolworth Department Store building converted into a spacious gallery featuring numerous artists. Featured photography, watercolor, oil, pottery, jewelry, acrylic, metalwork and other mediums. Cute little soda fountain with 50s décor.
The Soda Fountain inside of the Woolworth Art Gallery has some of the best sandwiches and salads in the downtown area for the best value. Honestly you cannot get a salad that huge for that price anywhere downtown. You guys and ladies are killing it. They're all so nice too and seem to really enjoy what they do. This place is my favorite lunch spot downtown. It can get pretty busy during lunchtime on weekends so plan accordingly.
What an unexpected surprise!
Lunch counter doesn't seem to do adequate praise....our lunch was reasonably priced and quite tasty.
The array of artists on display was a great desert.
Interesting place. Leases small sections of floor space (about 8ft by 12ft) to artists to display their work. Also serves sandwiches and sodas. Nice stop for any art lover.
I love everything about Woolworth... The local art, the soda fountain crew: best (and freshest) sandwiches, salads, and soups. Not to mention...the BEST ice cream you can get downtown. Hands down. Oh, and their coffee is from Dynamite Coffee (in Black Mountain), which is amazing! Definitely should be a staple in every visit to Asheville!
The gallery and Soda Fountain have different hours: the fountain always closes an hour before the gallery and food service closes 2 hours before the gallery (just ice cream and drinks for their last hour). In summer, both the gallery and the fountain are open an hour later on Fridays and Saturdays. If you have questions about their hours, it's best to call ahead to be certain.
Many local artists and artisans displayed here and prices are very reasonable - always a stop on any Asheville visit. Be sure to check out downstairs, too. Not tried the soda fountain, but it's always busy (and probably is why the smell of bacon hita you when you walk in).
Great little classic ice cream parlor.
It's an interesting building to walk through.
This is my favorite gallery in Asheville. I never miss an opportunity to stop in and get the business cards of new local talent. You could spend 5 minutes or two hours here, it really just depends on what you get out of the art.
We took the Greyline Tour while a family member was a healing cardiac patient at the Mission Hospital. We stopped off of that tour bus and went in here. Almost as soon as we arrived and looked on the left wall the exhibits captured us. The next weekend we had to travel back to Asheville and specifically took an art oriented family member here. Wonderful, wonderful.
Love this place. It had an old time feel. It took me back to my childhood. The food was delicious. If you're into art there's lots of that too.
There is Art of every kind to be shared at WWW. You could go every day and not see it all because it is constantly changing.
Love it, love it. Love it.
This place is awesome! Food and a show of art! God was pretty good to me. Nice paintings and crafts as well. Anyone should go and enjoy this great place!
Always love to walk this space. Great diversity and amazing art to look over
This is a super cool art gallery with a diner inside that allows you to chose your own house-made soda. Super retro 50's style diner amidst an art gallery.
Oh my goodness! Such wonderful collection of craftmanship. Then you can treat yourself to an old fashioned egg cream or ice cream sundae at the soda fountain. Can't go wrong.
Beautiful art downstairs and a great little soda fountain upstairs. Had nice outdoor seating with a beautiful view of downtown.
Some really unique art. Not for cheapskates like me.
This is a neat place! The lunch counter was good. I had the fried bologna sandwich. After eating, we walked around and admired all the talented local artist booths.
Amazing artists and a old school lunch counter. Not very many tables but the food was pretty good.
We absolutely loved the soda fountain. Very cool experience and the food was really good and excellently priced. The art gallery has some really talented people
We sat at the lunch counter for lunch and it reminded me of going with my Grandma every Saturday. It was a little nickel and dime store way back then. Lol. This particular Woolworth was full of all kinds of art, mostly locals to the area. Food, service, and atmosphere was awesome.
Amazing gallery of local art. I stop in about every 2 weeks just to check it out. A lot of amazing local talent displayed everywhere. Love this place!!
Fabulous local artists on display! Prices are reasonable.
Soda bar is great too!
Dellicious food. Kind staff. Kind of neutral ambiance, i usually like to get food to go instead of sitting there, it's kind of dark and cave-like. Veggie hot dogs are AMAZING. MOCHA HAZELNUT SODA IS HEAVEN.
This is a must see for anyone interested in art. So many artists have their work sold here from painting and photography to sculptures and jewelry, they have it all!
If you love art and want to add something unique and special to your home or office Woolworth Walk is the place you want to go to. With many companies joining the mass produced art market (Michael’s, Bed Bath and Beyond, At Home, etc,) finding a place like this is similar to getting a glimpse of heaven. Woolworth exhibits art, sculptures, and crafts from dozens of local and regional artists. Some of which are nationally known for the things they create. Not only that but Woolworth offers a classic drink and food bar serving up classic 1960’s dinner vibes. Woolworth is a whimsical place that offers something for anyone looking to add some uniqueness to their living spaces. It’s also accessible to all abilities offering a elevator in the back of the building because Woolworth is two stories!
Nice large area to walk around and look at unique gift ideas. There was anything from art to pottery two small magnets and honey. We will definitely come again when we are in the area.
Authentic 1930's soda fountain and food counter with yummy food. The rest of the place is an art gallery featuring many local artists. Wonderful.
Really great place to walk through and view local art. Has a diner inside and two levels of various art types. great place really well put together.
Unique piece of history utilized now as an art vendor. Was nice to support local artists and small business owners. Soda fountain served me up a delicious Shirley Temple 😊 …
A fantastic place to stop by periodically whether you're local or just visiting Asheville. The place is filled with work available for purchase by local artists and craftspeople, and there's a snack bar for a quick bite to eat, ice cream, shakes, etc.
I really like the repurposed building, and how they filled it by showcasing so many unique local artists. That said, while the restaurant in there looks cool, it kind of gives the building a really unpleasant smell.
We always visit when in Asheville and never leave empty handed. Amazing artwork of all types and mediums. If you want jewelry, pottery, fabric art or clothing, paintings or photos, this is a must visit.
Old Time lunch counter with that Asheville vibe. Reasonably priced lunch. Highlights: Reuben, Curry Chicken Salad, Potato Salad, Ice Cream, Shakes. Order "The Mammoth" and you will face imminent extinction. Don't sit down expecting table or counter service. Order at the register under the "Order Here" sign. DUH! Oh yeah and there are crafts and art too.
Old time fountain counter loved it The BEST club sandwich i hsve ever had lots of bacon and ham FRESH pickle and reasonable price! Service was good and the place was clean also old time fountain drink If your hungry give it a shot You will be impressed
We stopped at Woolworth Walk for a bite and stayed much longer to see the artwork on sale. We treated it like a museum and enjoyed walking around the main floor and downstairs. I bought a souvenir t-shirt.
So enjoyed eating at the original soda foundation. It brought back sweet memories of days of the past.
A two storied gallery with one floor down in the basement. Rows of arts and crafts exhibitions from artists are displayed. Some of the creations, like Ann Vasilik postcards are cool souvenirs from Asheville. There is café for light meals and hot chocolate. Unisex restrooms are also available( FYI)
Loved this place! Tons of booths to check out local art, and the food at the soda fountain is great. Highly recommend their blt with a Mexican coke.
If you are looking for a fast, healthy or unhealthy budget-friendly lunch in downtown Asheville, I recommend the soda fountain at Woolworth's Walk. You can also get soup and salad and healthier sides like vegetables and hummus. The photos show the BLT on wheat with chips and a vanilla milkshake with whipped cream.
My family only all times visit Woolworth. That's amazing place many artists, buy gift things and buy burgers & ice cream. I never eat yet. We will again visit back here. 👍😀
I love old place so nice. …
Woolworth Walk has stepped up its game with the quality of work being offered by the artists and craftspeople represented here. You can find anything from pottery (mostly good - a little exceptional) to large iron work from local Steebo. Jewelry to stained glass there is something for almost every budget.
nice combination of art and nostalgia. loved the homey food and the look of yesteryear. well worth the visit
Had a custom order for a float-type drink and they were very accommodating. Was nice to see a place like this around and the art gallery in the same building is bonus.
Great food, delicious shakes (ALWAYS get the whipped cream), fast and friendly comfort food, and you can browse the local artists while you wait. Win/win
I enjoyed seeing the old Woolworth building. It was nice to see they left the building basically untouched. Using it as an art gallery was a great idea too. Even though I'm not an artsy kind of guy most of it was still interesting.
Displays of people's artwork are beautiful and the old fashioned lunch counter was great the food was delicious
We visited the Asheville Woolworth Walk recently while on vacation. It was my first time ever seeing the Woolworths. We had previously visited another downtown area but somehow missed this area. We ate lunch at the Soda Fountain. The staff was fast and friendly. It was a good place to spend some with the wife.
Lots of different artists here. Many of them are also in the River Arts District
Always find something to take home from here. This is a refurbished woolworth's and local artist have made great use of the space. Its arty without being pretentious. And free which makes it affordable.
Love this place! Very kitschy soda shop with delicious and affordable food. I love the 2 dollar veggie dog! The art gallery is awesome as well with tons of local art!
Such a Great idea, to make an Art Co-op in a vintage Woolworth's store. Two stories of cool, affordable ART. Check it out!
Very cool art gallery with nice exhibits and a very cool old luncheonette counter with good food.
A really nice place with crafts from local artisans for sale. And the Woolworths counter is open for food and drinks! So nostalgic.
If you don't stop you're missing the best, fun, quality lunch event of your visit to Nicest staff, incredible sandwich(tomato basil soup) unique menu you remember from your youth.not to mention value OMG what value to cheap!!
An old fashioned soda jerk... My mom told me. It was like when she was a kid. I enjoyed the experience. The food is good and reasonably priced. There are art galleries!
One of the best places to visit when you're in Asheville. The selection of local artist is amazing. Definitely don't miss it.
Great fun at Woolworth's! Relieved favorite memories at the diner counter sipping root beer floats followed by endless displays of incredibly original and whimsical art. We hated to leave!
We always like to walk through Woolworth Walk when we visit Asheville. It's a great place to see and purchase all types of local art.
Lots of local artists using many different mediums. Original soda fountain and lunch counter still operating.
Fantastic gallery space with tons of artists, no pressure on the sell and a ton of accessible diverse art
Woolworth Walk is an eclectic collection of arts and crafts. Paintings, pottery, jewelery, photography, and other interesting stuff. There is a downstairs as well, not as much foot traffic and we were told that most of the people start out there before moving upstairs. When in downtown Asheville check it out you might find a treasure.
Beautiful + diverse fine art. Staffed with friendly + helpful professions. 0ccassionally, shoppers can meet the artists, too.
Very cool historic diner we had a great time checking out the art. We came home with a nice peice for our mantle.
Wonderful place to find art from local artists. Give yourself plenty of time to walk through both floors and you just might find something special to take home or talk about with family and friends.
Very wide variety of art. Absolutely something for everyone. Very nice diner. An awesome place to spend a few hours.
Really nice place to walk around and view local art. The food from the small soda shop is plenty and delicious. I plan on going back to see what changes.
Great service, unique and fun. Really great reasonably priced food too!
Lots of great local art in a very historic building. A must visit while taking in Ashville.
Lots of great art work. Ate at the counter and the food was good but the wait was very long due to a new counter girl. I'd still recommend it.
Fun place Always find something unique as a gift. We like to support local artists
At the Soda Fountain, waiting times are short even though there is always lots of people waiting to order. The food, ice cream, and sodas are great and the staff is kind and refreshingly diverse.
Interesting collection of art in various styles from multiple artists in an old Woolworths store with a preserved lunch counter that still serves meals and dessert. Worth a visit.
We loved looking at all the art, everything was so interesting! We also had lunch at the counter, the food was tasty and very reasonable.
A wonderful art gallery with a functioning full service fountain including snacks, drinks and ice cream treats. Do drop in.
A very eclectic group of Asheville artists giving a good taste of all the Asheville styles. Quality art and crafts reflected in their pricing.
Been coming here for years. Food is always good and the artwork is beautiful. Highly recommend.
Great sandwiches at the old time soda fountain, and I love walking through looking at the art. I visit here every time I come from Texas.
Lots of art by local artists, though some of the arts/crafts are not so be sure to ask if that's important to you. I'll be returning, there were lots of beautiful pieces.
Beautiful art, love the people there as well. Very friendly. A great place to take someone who's visiting from out of town as well. :)
Like eating pimento grilled cheese at the old fashion counter ? If so, Wolworth Walk is for you!!! You can also see wonderful art, jewelery, wooden bowls/spoons, etc. It's a blast from the past at a easy price!!
Great place! Reasonable prices for delicious sandwiches! Great artwork there, too, for sale!
2 floors full of art work. It takes about an hour to browse each floor.
Have been here before but I guess it was the fact that COVID lockdown for the past year made revisiting this art gallery so much more enjoyable
A wide variety of artists' works in a cool building with a fantastic vintage lunch counter!
Very cool place! Lots of interesting art to see. I really wish we'd had more time to look through the whole place more thoroughly!
Reminiscence of the old days. Wonderful inexpensive food.
Decent selection of regional artists. The lunch counter has good hotdogs, one of the cheapest places in town for an okay lunch.
Woolworth's is full of booths each containing local art. Great place to find out about local art and artists.
Excellent staff serving great lunch counter food priced reasonably. Lots of artwork displayed by excellent local artists.
Enjoyed all the artisans....and the root beer float was yummy!
Great indoor art gallery. Alot of booths to browse and a busy little counter service to grab a snack or coffee while you look around.
It's become a mother-daughter tradition to have a chocolate malted before checking out & buying some of the beautiful artwork Asheville has to offer... love this place!
Fantastic gallery with all local artists! The soda fountain is great for lunch or a snack as well.
Great being able to see a little bit of history while shopping for local art!
I couldn't believe it when I saw it: an F.W. Woolworth with a lunch counter! My Mother and l use to go shopping downtown and would eat lunch at Woolworth's. Fried balogna sandwiches,
malts and shakes. Great service too. When in Ashville, NC, be sure and stop by.
Lots of great local art showcased here and yummy nostalgic Woolworth food and drink.
This place has lots of wonderful arts and crafts from local artists. Most of it is very reasonable if you are looking for a gift or something to bring home.
A nice lunch counter where you can get a real frappe made the old fashioned way.
The art display is very eclectic but doesn't change much over time
I like that place. They have very beautiful collections. One of the 'must See's place for art lover
Great stop for local art. Would like to see more rotation in the artists though. We visit every year and selection is almost the same each time.
Always a great experience. Bummed out the cashier took my point ticket.. but I'll still keep coming. Love the atmosphere and delicious food.
Very interesting brings back memories of ice cream sundaes.
Great browse local artists' work and find gifts. Get lunch at the original Woolworth lunch counter.
Really enjoyed our visit talented local artists and a trip down memory lane at the soda fountain. Enjoyed it very much !!
If you love art it's a must stop.
Didnt eat here, but we walked around the gallery and they have a very diverse art collection both upstairs and downstairs.
Well worth a walk through on your visit. Local artists. Please support them!
Quality however can vary greatly so choose wisely!
Great variety of art
Wonderful place to shop for a variety fine art items. Traveling? Its ok! They Will wrap and ship to your home!
A great gallery and the soda fountain is not bad either. Try their ice cream sodas.
the sandwiches are great and there's a huge selection of art and gift shopping to peruse. a fun place to kill time or to eat lunch.
Cool old timey soda fountain and some cool pieces by local artists. Not a great place for a meal, but a fun place to grab and go.
Always a place to take visitors to see the vast talents of our local artistic community
It was very cool having the old bar open, though you could not sit at it right now. The milk shakes were yumm6!
Old Woolworth building is now an art gallery, the original soda fountain is in operation and has great food and Cappuccino.
Impressive collection of local artists work and just a great place to stroll through, especially on a cold day outside. Don't forget to check out downstairs roo
Cool place. Unique items.
The variety of local artists on display selling their art is amazing highly recommended to walk through and enjoy and why not also buy some local art works to have from your trip
Great arts available for purchase along with a cool food counter with soup, sandwiches, salads, and beverages.
A favorite of mine, and a must-stop every time I visit Asheville. I never leave empty handed supporting the local art community, and the staff is lovely.
Premium, curated artwork, excellent historic diner, a "must stop" experience each time I go to Asheville.
Cute place to stop in, get a soda and check out some art. Highly recommended stop if you're walking around downtown on a hot day feeling thirsty.
A funky and fun art gallery inside the old Woolworth Building downtown, complete with the original soda fountain. Good coffee even!
Loved it! Talented Artists, friendly and cool atmosphere! I enjoyed this place far more than the river district.
Interesting experience, but if you're worried about your little ones breaking stuff it's an anxiety attack waiting to happen! Food was good, though.
Surprisingly good food for an art gallery with a soda shop. Budget friendly lunch options for people who work downtown.
Pretty neat gallery style place to walk through. Love that it is local artists talents being displayed
Absolutely loved this place! Two floors of some of the most beautiful creative art in Asheville. Well worth the trip there!
Food was delicious - staff was friendly - art work was interesting and affordable
Good place if you can get a seat. Good food. Large portions for a good price. Affordable place for lunch in downtown Asheville.
Loved the local art and old fashioned soda fountain.
Basically just a high-priced art gallery that still has an old style ice cream bar in place. Got a banana split there that was good.
Cool place that showcases local art. There's also an old school soda counter/diner. Definitely worth a trip.
Clean restrooms available to the public. A variety of vendors offer an almost total shopping experience without the pressure to purchase.
Amazing works of art...different mediums and different styles throughout the whole galley...definitely wool worth a stop in..👈 see what I did there...lol …
Unique way of conserving some history while bringing it into this era. Featuring local artist's work and serving up a delicious shake!
Fun, retro, good lunches and ice cream treats. Friendly staff. Lines can be long and slow at lunch or when a bus drops a group
Great art gallery with countertop eatery, sandwiches and such with coffee and soda bar. Old fashion sodas are great
Very nice place to walk around and discover local art. Don’t rush, you will find quite a few interesting pieces.
So much incredible talent. I come here every time I'm in Asheville. Artists from such diverse places, presenting the world from such different perspectives.
Wonderful, memorable and historic.
The lunch counter is a fun space and the food is superb.
It still has the Woolworth counter for lunch. The rest is no longer an old Woolworths. It now has separate crafting sections. It's fun to walk around.
A must if you're visiting downtown. I always go anytime I visit Asheville and I love looking at the different artist's works.
Fantastic local art and a cheap, classic soda fountain. You definitely want to check it out.
I love this place. Go for the local art and leave with a shake from the diner.
Great selection of artists. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Cute soda fountain!
I think this is the only place in all of Asheville where you can get a cup of local, organic coffee for $1.75.
Lots of really good art. If you don't mind walking past a bunch of bums and vagrants to get there.
This place is amazing! I love the Art and the people! Beautiful city!
Various art dealers housed in a historic art deco building. There is also a lunch counter.
Really neat space full of independent artists. I enjoyed this better than the river arts district (which is a lot of pottery).
Great collection of homemade artisan items. There is an upstairs and a downstairs so plan to stay for awhile so you can see every booth.
My girlfriend and I always love getting to walk around and see the art from all of the local artists. Woolworth is always a must when we visit Asheville.
Don't visit Asheville without experiencing Woolworth Walk and Gallery! It is a great place to buy local art and have a nostalgic meal .
The perfect place to support local artist. The original Woolworth counter is cool to see.
Nice gallery of local artists. The food counter does a wonderful job of bringing back the memories of visits to Woolworth as a child.
Many many great artists....many medias....well lit and comfortable w distancing. Desk wrapped for take home. Good times!
So much to see here. This gallery is one of the places I remember most about my visit to Asheville.
The gallery was cool and so was the italian soda place. I like the layout of the place and the variety of art.
Had a great time, lots of nice artwork to look at
Every time I go to visit my family I try and make a stop here. Beautiful artwork, and great artists.
I always walk Woolworth when I come to Asheville. The local artists are incredible and I always find cool things to buy. Certainly worth the trip!
A great place to see art, plus the old fashioned soda shop is a must to experience!
This is a place we always visit when we go to Asheville because it is a showcase for emerging artists. There is always something new to see and the prices are affordable.
Loved the old Woolworth bar. They stopped serving food, only drinks & ice cream when I got there but was still great.
An absolutely heavenly selection of art and crafts from the local community. We come here every year!
