Great museum. My son whos 3 and me both loved it! Staff is super friendly. The place is very clean. Educational and fun. My son particularly enjoyed the dinosaur exhibits and the play pits. Service Dog friendly staff as well!

Super cute hands on life-sized museum with walk thru games for kids and information on every wall. From Dinosaur Age thru Ice Age! Doesn't take longer than an hr for an adult to do and is great for field trips!
Kaylyn Mitchell
I feel like this place is a hidden gem that not many people know about. You could spend hours here looking at everything and reading all the descriptions. Lots of fun here. This is the perfect place for birthday parties if you or your kids love dinosaurs!
The Adventurers
Really loved this place, small museaum but we a lot to see and learn. Nice gift shop with beautiful stones and fossils for sale. Free parking and only 8 dollars the entrance fee for adults and 6 for youth.
Rebecca Doty
This place has so many different items. Not overly priced. Great for a school visit, scout outing or just a trip with the family. Definitely recommended
Becca Hill
A neat place to spend a couple hours. Most things here are able to be touched which is great for hands on learning. In the back there's a whole kids are to play with bins of toys such as blocks, a dollhouse, puzzles, etc. And that is where the digging pits are. Socks are required to go into the dog pit but if you forget socks you can buy them for less than a dollar at the gift shop.

Best museum in town. I have years and years of fond memories at this place. Highly recommend for anybody who stops through anchorage.
Dale McCord
Cool little place to check out, love the full size pterosaur? Inside and the murals are sweet.

Really cool museum (small), has a lot of cool artifacts and mini exhibits, overall really well done. Not too expensive. You get what you pay for. Good experience for anyone visiting Alaska.
Laura Bartlett
First time there and my entire family enjoyed it. The staff was helpful and extremely friendly. It's great for people of all ages. Definitely recommend for a family learning experience.
Leigh Seipp
We love this, place. Lots of interesting things to see and the kids can actually touch things! There is also a well stocked play area for the kids that includes digging pits.
Amber
A small museum but worth the visit. It took us about an hour to go through the whole museum and we really learned alot about the history of Alaska. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Today was the first time ever taking my kiddo there or going there myself. I was incredibly impressed! The space may not be the biggest but they fit SO many cool exhibits (most of which the kids are able to touch). My kiddo LOVED touching the mammoth tusk. The person working during our visit today was so incredibly nice, informative and made my kiddo feel extra special. Completing the scavenger hunt was fun, but the prize out of the chest made my kids day. Their gift shop had an awesome selection for dinosaur lovers, too! The entire place was super clean as well. We will definitely be paying a visit back, especially for the low admission costs.

This is a wonderful little museum, and unfortunately a bit of a secret. I’ve driven by this building a bunch of times without knowing what it was. The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. The displays are intricate and there are tons of things for kids to touch. My favorite exhibit was the life-size pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling. This was my second time visiting this museum in a short time, and I still saw things today that I didn’t see the last time. Admission is very reasonable, and they have a really neat gift shop.

Great way to spend an afternoon. This museum was super cute and well designed, a perfect place to bring young children. The staff was super friendly and helpful, one of them even gave us an unofficial tour. They have fossils, preserved animals, various rocks and crystals, and lots of displays with info explaining what you see. There are quite a few objects that you are allowed to touch. There is a scavenger hunt for the kids and a play area where they can dig. Totally worth the $8 ticket to get out of the cold and see some interesting things.
Raymond Ayres
Very nice and most educational. Great animal displays, I was not aware there were Alaskan Lions at one time
Julie O'Neill
Great place for kids. Took our 3 & 5 year old grandkids. Just the right size to hold their interest. The museum provides scavenger hunt sheets that makes it fun and educational for the kids. Mimi and PopPop even learned a couple things. 😉 …
Jacob Trewe
One of the best museums in the Anchorage area, but check ahead for limited hours of operation. Good seek-and-find activities for kids, wide variety of exhibits.
Jack McCaslin
Small museum that is well run with a focus on ice age, dinosaurs, and rocks.
JL Johnston
Curators tried to stay Alaska-oriented and everything is well organized.
Social distancing is also easy to maintain.

We really enjoyed this museum. My son loved the digging area and the gift shop and my daughter loved doing the quizzes and collecting a prize. Everyone who worked here was so friendly and helpful and great with kids.

Small but very informative with lots of things for little ones to touch. Staff very friendly and helpful. There is a scavenger sheet for kids to fill out and get a small prize.

A compact but well thought out layout. The museum offers a glimpse into the past with many displays and a few hands on activities. Admission is very reasonably priced and the staff very friendly. If you have a child with an interest in geology, this museum is for you. The property inside and out is well maintained and clean. Enjoy your visit.
Melody Welsh
Really awesome museum! They have allot of exhibits talking about the local wildlife
Jack Flynn
Very enjoyable museum. Engaging exhibits. We learned a lot! Nice gift shop with items at a variety of price points. They also have tables set up in a separate area that you could bring a picnic lunch or snacks. Friendly staff.

Stumbled across this about 2 years ago and continue to be impressed. It's an amazing place for kids since so much of it they're allowed to touch. It's a little bit of everything from rocks to animals to fossils and even a play area. Great for toddlers through teens because they can play or read in detail info depending on age level. Make sure to take advantage of the wooden drawers throughout the building as they're full of other items you can check out but there's just not enough shelf/table space for it all

We decided to take our 2 year old here because he is obsessed with dinosaurs. He enjoyed running around and looking at the few dinosaurs they had but we all grew bored after about 20 minutes. There is a "dig site" in the back for kids but we didn't partake. The staff is very friendly & allowed our little guy to roam the museum with the stuffed toys he found in the gift shop. I thought the price for 2 adults was kind of steep for the amount of material to look at & time spent inside. Our little one does however want to go back to get more dinosaur toys!

I wanted to love this place but looks like a glorified science fair project. I know covid doesn't help the situation any but for the price it's just not really worth it. Took us less than 30 min to go through even using the little scavenger hunt.
Sierra Franks
Great little museum!
Holly Katherine
Hidden gem to take kids. Almost everything there you can touch and is hands on. They built an area for kids to dig for fossils and play with other learning activities. Staff is friendly and engaging.
zachary mcgee
We had a ball! Lots of things for your kiddos to play around with. Great place for hands on experience

xena Almquist

Whenever you visit a new area you should always go to a natural history or science museum. The Alaska museum is one of the better ones that I have been to throughout the United States. It's definitely worth the time to visit and learn a little bit more about the area you're visiting
Casey Renteria
Smaller than I expected. Absolutely dead silent and it echoes horrendously. While they do have alot for kids to do and touch every noise or excited scream is magnified by 1000. My daughter loved it I just felt bad for anyone in there with us since every excited noise sounded like the apocolypse.
Kim Carolyn Steele
If you have children this is an excellent location to bring them. They have a great mix of hands on activity and exhibits that are well worth the admission price not to mention specialized events like Tinker time with storytime and crafts and exhibits like the Nano-Imagine exhibit that is coming December 21st-January 5th! Adults are just $5 and children are $3.
Arthurina Rosario
Great place for all ages!
Jennifer Lodge

Small only takes an hour but lots of stuff to see. The scavenger hunt really helped the kids look at things more closely and stay engaged.

We stopped by this museum today and it was packed with good information and displays appropriate for both adults and kids. The fee to get in was reasonable and would be well worth the trip and admission.
