Reviews of Speed Motorcycles
Giuseppe Iademarco
Manny & team have been following my Moto Guzzi for the past few years (change of tires, oil and general maintenance) but did their very best when they resuscitated my bike after it was stolen, abandoned and then found in an abysmal state (see pictures before and after their repair).
I highly recommend their work as I continue to go back for efficient, practical and hands-on service and advice.
Olivia Solero
I have been taking my motorcycles to Speed Motorcycles for close to a decade now. They are knowledgeable, reliable, professional and reasonable. And they are super friendly and I wouldn’t take my bikes any other place.
They are a quick trip into the Bronx and a short walk from the subway.
Really, this is a no-brainer. If you own a motorcycle or scooter, this is where you should get it serviced.
Jorge Daniel Castro
I can’t be more satisfied with Speed Motorcycles Guys. Manny take care of my ride well done accurate on the diagnostic. I seen 5 shops along the Washington DC - NY City area and this one is a real truly neighborhood bike shop, professional and educated people. Thanks Speed Motorcycles
Deon Mar.
Wonderful experience dealing with Manny from Speed Motorcycles. Very fair prices and quick turnaround. I had new bearings and tires installed on my CB550 (brought him the tires).
You guys haven't seen the last of me! 😀
Adriel Paderanga
Fantastic work - came in to have my brakes bled and oil changed, and they fixed a long standing issue with my rear brake that previous mechanics missed. Excellent work, straightforward pricing, highly recommend
Shane Evans
Manny and his guys are top notch, helped me out big time on the spot, great hard working people.
Herbert Hernandez
Manny is a very honest person. Very professional and knowledgeable about the motorcycle business. He was able to diagnose and fix a problem my bike had that honda Suzuki and cycle therapy couldn't figure out. And he changed me half of the price. Thank you manny for fixing my bike.
H Lev
I've been going to Speed motorcycle for over two decades. They work on all bikes, New and old. These guys really know motorcycles
Crimson
These guys are amazing. The only shop I've been to that goes out of their way to go over the details of exactly what was wrong with the bike and what they did to fix it. I brought in my 2013 Harley Davidson Street Bob to fix the front brake. They showed me pictures of what was wrong with the caliper and what it looked like after they cleaned it out. Plus, the prices are great. They are all about being fair.
Marshall Robbins
Manny is a great operator took very good care of my Vespa did my inspection and changed my rear tire. Very quick and efficient, I will definitely be back for my service!

Best shop in the world! Well best I have ever been to and I have been going to bike shops for 40 years (not to leave out I have lived all over the USA). The customer service cannot be beat. Nothing was done without my approval but a whole lot was done as curtesy. They changed brake fluid adjusted and lubed cables and detailed my bile at no additional cost. They installed a used part I handed them that turned out to be defective then took off and installed the new one (a rear mono shock on a VS 1300) they only charged me for the one install although they did the job twice (this is a 2 hour job to do just once). The whole cost was way below what any other bike shop would charge for shock replacement, oil change and valve adjustment. Do yourself a favor - GO HERE if ever you need a bike mechanic. You will be just like me super happy and writing a true review of a great shop.
Jasper Burch
These guys are exceptional and fair. I had an upcoming trip so called a few days before about some minor modifications and maintenance. Manny made time for me on a Saturday, getting all of the work done in a day, including trouble shooting some complications that meant he had to fabricate a part (i have an after market tail tidy on, so the piece i wanted mounted didn't fit right). On top of that, they checked and topped off my fluids, and added some air to the old tubes. At the end of it all, the price they charged was a bit better than I had expected. All in all, above and beyond customer service.

I typically don't write reviews, but Speed has exceeded expectations in every way and has earned my business and loyalty. Willie has been amazing, the man exhibits genuine care in all facets of his work; an honest, hard-working individual that priorities customer relationships and satisfaction. For the longest time I've insisted on wrenching on my own bike for fear of incompetence and outrageous costs. It's great to finally find a place that you completely trust.
By far the best motorcycle shop experience I've had to date.
Kareem NeJame
These guys really are great. Unbelievably honest and they work fast. I used to live near the shop, which was always convenient when I needed to bring the bikes by. Now I've moved way downtown, but refuse to bring my bikes anywhere but here and it's worth the trip. Been going to Speed for 4+ years now and have never had a bad experience.

Manny and Willy are the coolest!
A different shop quoted me $230.00 for an electronics diagnostic test (not the worst price for 1-3hrs of motorcycle labor in Manhattan) but this other place also said they’d need 1-2 weeks before they’d have any time to mess with it (not outrageous, we’re in the middle of the busy season, and a lot of NY riders like to wait until summertime to change head gaskets or chase coolant leaks 🙄).
I didn’t get someone who would actually listen to me talk about what’s going on with the bike until I called Speed! Manny said my description of the problems pointed to a bad battery, but he didn’t have too much vacancy in his shop. After I detached my own battery and brought it in, he tested it with a multimeter and confirmed that it was weak.
He offered to charge it for an extremely fair price, and I’m picking it up tomorrow! I saved a lotta money. Looking forward to bringing my bike back here when something else goes wrong (oh and, it WILL, btw)

I brought my brand new R6 to Manny in bad shape after the engine lost oil pressure (my fault) and almost melted down. He and his team rebuilt the motor at a fair price (not cheap). Next job is a custom build. Would definitely recommend.
Mark Greenberg
These guys are really, really good. They are honest and reliable. From time to time it may take a bit longer but to me that means I'm not the only one who brings my bike there.... and with good reason. If you want to sit in a fancy waiting area, sip a latte & pay 4 times what you should for a "repair" then go to a dealer. These guys are no joke. A+ for Willie & the boys.
Adalberto Fortis
They are very nice gentleman and excellent mechanics I mean the best I've ever seen and worked on every detail of my motorcycle and gave me a common courtesy call to tell me something else is wrong with my motorcycle before they fix it I appreciate that very much from them so I suggest you take your motorcycle to them
Wei Man Lam
A shop that cares about motorcyclists. Was told there would be a wait, I didn't mind. Still got the job done faster than expected because they didn't want to keep me waiting. Also lubed clutch cable and missing fairing bolt at no additional cost. Friendly and fair honest service, what more can I ask for?
ironnorth
I have to say this. I have a 1993 BMW K75 in mint condition. I needed 2 tires replaced on the bike. I called Speed Motorcycles and they told me to drop any time I fell like it. Even before I took the trip the feeling was very positive cause of their phone manners. I met the guys who were very friendly and down to earth. The bike was dirty from the garage I keep it in. With that in mind, the next day my bike was ready. I went there and the price was so affordable that if it was BMW I would need to take a loan to pay my bill. Not only the affordable price and the great experience I had talking shop with the mechanics , they also clean the bike. The treated it like it was there own. I love Speed Motorcycle and if you have a problem with your bike there is no place else I would go. EXECELENT.....
Janus Jeffrey Wilde
I have over 4 vintage motorcycles. Thankfully, none of them have had serious issues, but these bikes DO require maintenance. Manny over at Speed Moto has never ceased to be helpful, ALWAYS charges me a fair price, and turns the bike around super-fast. I cant recommend these guys highly enough. i wish they were located closer to where I live (Williamsburg Brooklyn) but I understand rents are high which is why they arent more "local." Great shop!
Blake Joseph
Just picked up my Vespa from Manny and Willie and I couldn't be more pleased. These guys consistently deliver on service, hospitality, and price. That all aside, these gentlemen hail from a different time where you actually could trust your mechanic. This is my third time receiving services from Speed Motorcycle and so now I write my first 5 Star review for them. Not because I'm generous but because they run one hell of a business in which I'm proud to be a patron!
Felix Davenport
Manny & Willie are Some of the best motorcycle mechanics I know. I've been dealing with them for over 30 years, when they were located on East 95th street. I highly recommend them!!
Robert Winslow
Honest ,solid work done here. Manny and his crew have worked on all my bikes for the past 10yrs....from my vintage Suzuki GT, ninja 500 and my Ducati monsters ...never disappointed in the work and service at Speed!!
Chris (2loki4u)
My Girlfriend found Willy many years ago when his shop was in Manhatten and she had just started riding... She followed him as he moved around in Manhatten, which is how I got involved to know him as well, when we met... I have what's now considered a vintage 2001 GSX r600 while she's had 3 maxi scooters (2x burgman 400s & 650).
Willy's been taking care of both of us for around 6yrs now - we come from Westbury to his new location in the Bronx, simply because he's always been conscientious about the trust we put in him with our lives and our bikes - he's always been fair with his pricing and has never tries to BS us about what we really need, so no throwing money away for stuff you don't really need to do or isn't really broke... He's good about his turn around times, offering realistic estimates for time & money and is always upfront, when he's backed up with work...
He did a first service on my girlfriend's new burgman 650 and he took care of replacing my front sprocket and mounted and balanced my new Pirellis on my gsxr & died over the rest of my bike for safety...
Seriously, what more can you ask for? (well, TBH, it would be nice if he moved closer to us on the island, but you can't please everyone lol) -
Thanks again Willy, we appreciate what you do... Need to take new photos of the bikes so I can add them to this review!

These guys do great, honest work, they have been working on my bikes Ducati and Suzuki with precision for 5+ years. I have taken multi week trips on my bikes with no worries due to the preparation of Manny and his staff. They do offer storage in the winter as well. If you are looking for competant, honest mechanics in NYC for your motorcycle look no further.
Robert Ayala
This is the best place in NYC to take your bike for repairs because they're honest and do a good job. No place will be cheap in NYC, but at least they're not rip off artists like the only place left that does Vespa repairs in Manhattan. FYI, It wasn't as far as I expected going into the Bronx. I don't love that you have to call and make an appointment to drop your bike off, but it's not the end of the world. They have to do with they have to do because they're so popular. I dropped my bike off for a repair without calling the other day, and the gentleman I spoke to wasn't going to take my bike in at first, but then decided to when I told him how little free time I had. Will update this review once I get my bike back, but I've left a good review for them before on Yelp.
Larry Red
The only negative Google reviews are about how "mean" the guys were. Who cares how nice they are? Do you want a lollipop? It's a motorcycle shop, for crying out loud. All motorcycle shop guys have attitudes, it goes with the territory.
Speed has the most skilled, detail-oriented repair guys, period. Want an oil change? They'll put good 20W-50 Amsoil, not the cheap stuff. Want new tires? They'll not only put new tires on, but they'll put balancers on the wheels, and you don't even need to ask! Nobody else does that. They are a bit slow but the work they do is top-rate. I've been to other shops that have made mistakes; this never happens at Speed.
Look at their Yelp reviews. 38 five-star perfect reviews, which is unheard of for *any* business on Yelp. Then compare to any other motorcycle shop in NYC. No one else comes even close. Speed really is the best.
Adrian David
I have known Willie since the late 80s when he worked with Tom. He has worked on all my motorcycles since then. Kawasaki Ninja 600 87, 1000R 89.Ducati El Paso 88, KZ1100 90 Honda CBR 900 92-93-94-95. He even REBUILT my Harley Fatboy 1992. Willie & Manny will ALWAYS BE my go to guy for motorcycles.. Professional, Reliable, HONEST !!
Thank you Guys...
David.
Sarah Sullivan
This is kind of a whole in the wall type place with bikes all over the place but the owner of the company is very committed and does work at a reasonable price. I've had my bike fixed here twice. I also get my inspection done here. I don't know how they are at major repairs but have always done a good job on the minor work that I've needed.
Jeremy Dahm
I've reviewed in the past and just recommended to a friend. I've been using these guys for 15+ years. Whenever I've gone somewhere else because of convenience issues, I've usually regretted it. They've handled my Kawi, Honda, Suzuki, and Triumph. When the Tuono happens, they'll get that business as well. They know bikes. All bikes.
Jose Bartoli
I've known Willie and Manuel for at least 25 years. I have brought to them all kinds of bikes, mostly Italian, modern and vintage with all kinds of tasks. I can't think of a better place anywhere for cycle service in all of my 40 years of riding; period!
Don't ever retire Willie and Manuel (and now Jose' too I think; like me).
Electronics Guru
Manny and his team are the best in the area. I’ve been to most of the motorcycle shops in the area. Honestly and trustworthiness are rarities in this industry but alive a well at speed.
paul skarlatos
I have owned multiple Japanese bikes and since 1985 and first Willie at Power Cycles and then Willie and Manny at Speed are the only ones I trust with an honest evaluation of any issue and a very reasonable price for the work by comparison . I own 11 old Jap bikes from a 1973 to a 1996 and they all have been at Speed....That says it all .....
Bob Feltman
What many have said before me, these guys give you an honest opinion and won't rob you. More than once I was told it'd be better, cheaper and easy for me to do a repair myself...and then they told me HOW to do it. That is "honest"....a rarity in NYC, when they could have just taken me for my money. Repairs I have had done by them have been done on time and have been perfectly executed, always costing what was estimated, so no surprises. Perhaps a little pricey but given they KNOW what they're doing and that we are talking NYC, where the rents are steep, they beat the competition. They've moved shop a couple of times the past 2 years, due to the rents there. They are now just outside of Manhattan, in the Bronx, and for me, from the Upper West Side, they're just as close to me as when at previous locations.
Eddie Soup
Had my brake pads done there. He did a great job. Same day service, in & out.
Mr. Roman
REAL recognize Real Great work, stay true in what they do!
Daniel Colon
Been here twice. Guys were nice and seemed knowledgeable. Unfortunately have to take some stars because $95 labor to change a tire is robbery. Won't be back unless I don't have another option.
deej8181
i took my hayabusa in for service for rotors, brakes, new chain and sprocket and general maintenance. I wanted it fixed by my birthday and not only did Manny accomplish this but i was quoted $1400 by SHelby powersports (who i love as well but just too pricey. Manny was not only cheaper but got me a price with new tires (front and back) and sliders as well.
John Thorp
Went in in April for my inspection, and they had me in and out in ten minutes. There was some initial confusion on my part, as it's a little unclear where the door is, who's running the desk etc. But once I found a guy (on the second floor), he seemed nice enough. Which is saying a lot since most of us have gotten used to the immediately condescending, disinterested, and not-all-that-knowledgable techs who seem to be an unfortunate majority.
I'll be going back this week to get new tires put on my KLR, and I'll let you know how it goes. I've gotten into the habit of pulling my own wheels and walking them in with tires in hand, and I've had maybe 6 good experiences with this, and two bad ones where the shop does the work, but is pissed you know what a hex-head is.
I did notice these guys were pretty busy, which may account for the bad reviews? I don't know, I've had so many negative experiences at shops (I ride 10k miles a year, 4 seasons, been to Alaska and back), and these guys seemed "average." Which may translate to "great" if you've been jerked around as many times as I have. Or if you've been to fewer shops, maybe "average" to you means "really really crappy." FWIW.
Oh, and I'm not affiliated with these guys. I moved here from out west a year ago. Couldn't pick one out of a lineup with a gun to my head.
Dave Sue
Definitely recommend, as I can trust them.
Example: I'm a new biker. Back in April, I brought a newly purchased used Ninja 500R to them to have it lowered. While they were willing to lower it for me, they convinced me I didn't need to lower it -- i.e., that lowering it would take away from the ride and that I would be eventually get used to riding the bike as is. Its now June and I am SO thankful that I didn't lower the bike. Now, how many shops in Manhattan do you know that would put a (newbie!) rider first and pass up on business?
isholin
best bike service in and around manhattan.
honest people doing good work at affordable prices.
if you are a regular he will get to know you and your bike. very personalized!
David Janik
My Vespa had a flat, so I searched for someone in Manhattan to change the tire. I was referred to Speed and called in the morning. These guys had the tire repaired by 3pm and could not have been more kind and professional.
I pushed the bike 25 blocks to get there, which was a perfect workout for the day:-0
A few hours later I was riding on a new Pirelli back tire, which is awesome btw!
These guys ROCK!!!
Alix Brignol
Well if you live in Manhattan you know the deal! There aren't many options specially if you own a Harley.
You know who the shady guys are that can't be trusted. Since there aren't many bike shops in Manhattan you know who i'm talking about if not you will once you deal with them. You can go to Harley and pay up which I do when I have to, or you can come and see Willy where he'll talk to you like a man should and tell you straight up what you need and what you don't. So whether you have a Harley or any other kind of bike I highly recommend speed for your cycle needs. Custom 100th anniversary Fat Boy!
Peter Duvo
Brought my engine buy itself for a top end overhaul and they did an excellent job. These guys will work with you and they are very nice and honest. I will be going back if I have or need any more work for them to do.
Cheyanne Racey
These guys came highly recommended. I had a flat and they fixed it right away before closing. The price was fair and the men were nice. I will definitely go back!
Gerry Quintanilla
These guys are excellent mechanics, and I highly recommend them. They try to accommodate you as best they can when you are short on time or have an emergency.
George Juarbe
Manny and Will are the greatest! I never haggle with prices because I know the job will be done correctly and in a timely manner. Good and honest mechanics.
Alexander Altskan
All you could ever ask for in a motorcycle service shop. Been a customer for about 2-3 years and everybody here is an honest and incredibly knowledgeable mechanic, and the work is complete within reasonable timing and pricing.
