I've been seeing Gary for 4 weeks now and it's like a miracle. Literally. I've spent the last 20+ years in chronic pain. Not so severe that it keeps me from moving and participating in sports, but bad enough that it does impact my quality of life. Since I started seeing Gary, I'm able to walk with better posture (and without having to think about it), I have more flexibility, and most importantly, the chronic pain has been reduced by 1/2. I've seen chiropractors most of my adult life, and still do. However, until I started seeing Gary, the adjustments never held. I think the combo of my chiropractor and Gary is just the ticket I need to getting my body back in alignment and living life, pain free. It's funny... you don't know how much pain you're in until the pain begins to dissipate. You just get used to how that's how you're body feels, so it takes a BIG change to show you how abnormal life really was. This is a BIG change, and a positive one, thanks to Gary's work.

I am six sessions in and plan on doing ten sessions. The transformation of what my body feels from day to day has been spectacular. I've experienced low back pain off and on for over six years. The results and the learning with Gary have far surpassed what I have experienced with chiropractic care. I greatly enjoy the experience each visit. The "softening" of the muscles or connective tissue is its own unique experience and worth the visit alone. I am excited to have found Gary and a modality that is surprisingly effective. If you have any questions or concerns about your alignment I can't encourage you enough to explore Rolfing with Gary.

I've had a lot of bodywork over the years, and Gary is one of the best practitioners I've ever worked with. He has years of experience and practical knowledge, and he also has a finely tuned intuition for working on the more nuanced connections between body, emotions, and thoughts. He is easygoing, professional, compassionate, thorough, and has a sense of humor as well. I like to understand the bodywork so that I can support his work with stretches and postural reminders in my daily life, and Gary is always generous with sharing his reasoning or thoughts about the treatments he gives me. He also helped me a great deal when I was recovering from a concussion and neck pain from an injury. I highly recommend Gary!

Gary is amazing as he not only treats the patient but he is also very careful to also monitor the mindfulness that goes into releasing what is stuck. I don’t even know how to describe what he does because sometimes it was like there was a tight place that felt like knitting that had the stitches pulled away so the tension left but you could feel it unravel in the office and for several hours after. My osteopathic doctor suggested I see Gary between appointments and he really helped me!

Taking the series of 10 with Gary has been an eye-opening experience. Years of sports injuries and sitting at desks have made their mark. But after each session, different parts of my body fell into a natural repose I hadn’t thought possible. My body feels less compressed and I feel a lift and lightness that holds me more upright. Gary is a gifted and thoughtful practitioner who is very good at finding all the bound-down spots and then patiently coaxing them to soften. The highly interactive sessions are not always comfortable but the results are well worth it.

Gary's work changed my life. I didn't know what to expect when I first went. I had gotten massage before and loved it but that's not what Rolfing is. I first went to Gary with a piercing nerve pain from my shoulder to my wrist. He saw that and also saw my body misaligned in ways I couldn't see. He worked on my hips and changed my posture. He worked on my shoulders and neck and my shoulders began to lower, without pain. They had been raised for years but when I was reminded to lower them, and tried, they hurt. After Gary worked on me, I could relax my shoulders and they lowered without pain. My head turns more easily. My back hurts much less. My hips and legs move farther and more easily. Pain and restricted movement that I either accepted as "part of getting older" or was not even aware of, went away. And it lasted for months. Many months. Now I see Gary a few times a year to stay ahead of the aches and pains. It's amazing what a difference he made for my body. I highly recommend him.

I had originally gone to Gary (from a referral from a MD) to work on "hip issues" from running. That was quickly evaluated and resolved when I asked him to work on my right ankle which I had severely sprained over 3 months earlier. After 3+ months, by ankle was still very tender. Gary worked on it and after one session, I felt so much better that I canceled a scheduled cortisone shot in lieu of more Rolfing treatments. After 4 treatments, my ankle has improved so much that I am able to jog 3.5 miles! Because is was so severely sprained, it is still slightly tender but always feels great after Gary works on it, and it sure beats getting a cortisone shot! I would highly recommend Gary.

I've been going to Gary on and off for six years because I know I can count on his work to reduce pain and discomfort, sooth flare-ups, and create a feeling of space and lightness where stiffness was the norm. At various times, he has provided relief from pain in my hips, back, shoulders, and neck. He is an experienced and skilled practitioner, and I recommend him highly.

A friend encouraged me to try Rolfing based on personal experience and recommended Gary. During my initial consultation with Gary he said that one of the goals of Rolfing is to make you feel relaxed in your body, and I was immediately sold on at least trying it. I was skeptical, at best, that that would be possible for me, given the back issues I've had over the years and chronic shoulder tightness. I was a ballet dancer when I was younger and it created significant problems for me, which I tried over the years to correct with Pilates and with seeing an osteopath, both of which helped, but I never felt great. After one session with Gary, I felt markedly better and was sold on the 10 series. After the series, I feel like a new person. It's hard to describe how much of an impact feeling centered and grounded, yet light, has had on my daily life. I haven't moved this easily since I was a small child. It's amazing and I am truly grateful. Working with Gary was a wonderful experience - he is very professional and a wise soul.

In advance of gardening season I decided to try Rolfing, instead of more PT and cortisone shots, to heal the causes of a sore shoulder. Gary's name came to the top of my google search, as luck would have it, and after one session I knew that this approach and his expertise could help me. It's hard to describe the feeling when stuck tissues and patterns are unwound, and a deep sense of well-being, relaxation, and vitality is experienced. I simply feel whole again after a session. The support and physical care I receive during sessions have also been valuable in my healing from the effects of cancer and its treatment. I would highly recommend Gary if you seek this type of bodywork.

I came to Gary after a careful search for a new bodywork experience. I have chronic problems with my connective tissue and I have had multiple orthopedic surgeries. Over the last two decades I have had PT, massage therapy, somatic integration, and various other modalities. I had been hesitant about Rolfing because I'd heard that it was sometimes painful.
After doing a ten series, I made the decision to see Gary on a regular basis for on-going work and 'tune-ups.' Honestly, the rewards of Rolfing are amazing. I'm not getting treatment, I'm getting an education. I don't just feel better. I am better. For me, this is about functioning well into my 60's and beyond. Gary is helping me to achieve that. I highly recommend this experience. Gary is sensitive and thorough and truly vested in the well-being of his clients.

Gary works wonders on my body during every appointment and knows exactly what I need. I only have to step foot in to his office, not even discuss my ailments, and he gets right to work on my precise pain points. I appreciate the focus and energy that Gary allows; the interactive nature of our work, where both of us are working (and I mean working!) towards a common goal, my relief, creates the most effective appointments. I look forward to and embrace every appointment as though a gift to myself!

Gary Gurney is a skilled and subtle healer. As a martial arts practitioner, I am frequently injured and find myself in his office for repair. His knowledge of anatomy is extensive and he makes good, efficient use of the time. Highly recommend for anyone suffering pain, spine or posture problems, breathing problems, or joint pain.

I have been a runner for 30 + years so deep tissue massage has been a part of my life to keep me running. After massage sessions I frequently felt battered from the deep work and would be sore for a couple of days. I decided to give Rolfing another try hearing that Gary was different than most...His treatment techniques are amazing. I leave sessions feeling aligned, free & grounded and I am able to run the following day with ease and fluid strides. I can be a tiny bit sore but it is not lasting. Stay hydrated and you will benefit most from his sessions. Deep tissue massage leaves me feeling battered, Gary's Rolfing leaves me feeling free, grounded and released with lasting results!!

Gary helped me recover from a serious fall that left me with a sore back and limping more than nine months after the incident. I was impressed with his high level of professionalism, compassion, and knowledge. I had been feeling lousy for a long time, and was so relieved to finally feel like my old self again. I would recommend him for any issue needing healing. His office is easily accessible in a great part of town with ample parking.

I've been seeing Gary on a regular basis (every other month or so) for the past few years and look forward to every visit. I feel 3" taller and more grounded after a session. Rolfing is amazing and I feel the results last longer than massage. I'm addicted and it's worth every penny!

Gary has a kind and gentle soul. As a bodyworker myself it is always funtalking with him about the body. The work that gary does is very effective and relieving. I keep saying to friends and family to go see him because it is the best work I have received to date. I had always thought they rolfing hurts but not the case with gary.
If you have any issues or pain in your body I would highly recommend Gary's work.

I feel compelled to write a review because of my experience with Gary Gurney's Rolfing. I've had quite a lot of body work done over the years… massage (swedish, deep tissue, reflexology,Thai, cranial sacral therapy), Jin Shin Jyutsu and Reiche. Rolfing has offered me a very different experience. I feel more grounded and settled into my bones after a session with Gary Gurney. I find my body shifting subtly from positions or postures I've gotten in the habit of holding. It's as if the pathways of movement my body takes have shifted into alignment or correction. It's true that sometimes I feel discomfort during a session, but that is rare. More often I feel as if something that has been stuck or hasn't moved for years is being freed, opened or released. I compare it to massage by saying that massage is like the oil you put in your car while Rolfing is like a tune up! I highly recommend Gary Gurney's good works and am grateful that I have benefitted from them!

I didn't know I could feel at ease in my own body until I did the 10 series with Gary. If you're on the fence just try one session and you'll be hooked.

Can’t recommend Gary or Rolfing enough. If you struggle with chronic pain, give this type of bodywork a try. It will change your life!

Seasoned and professional. I found that I had a new relationship with my body after the classic 10 series. Would highly recommend.

I just finished my ten-series with Gary and I cannot say how much better my whole body feels. I could notice the changes he made after each session, and have seen improvement in my posture, muscle tension and just overall sense of comfort in my body. Gary is an absolute dream with work with and I cannot recommend trying ROLFing! I can't wait for my next visit. Thank you so much, Gary!
