First time here, I’m new in Philly. My standard for massages is high since I’ve been in south east Asia where Thai and Balinese massages are only $10 USD! I’ve been looking for a place that is just as high quality at a reasonable price. I found it here at pain away in Chinatown, a very unassuming place from the outside. My right shoulder had been in pain for weeks from sleeping incorrectly, it would hurt to move my arm in normal ways. It was interrupting my daily life. I came here for a Tui Na massage which is hard to find elsewhere. They warmly welcomed me (I was early) and in 60 minutes I could feel a lot of release, healing and relaxation. The room is simple but clean and comfortable. The pain in my shoulder was completely gone and I was so happy that a massage from here was medicine to my body! I will be back for sure (going to make it a monthly thing) and I highly recommend. The massages here are not just massages, they feel like a tune up of your body

I work as a massage therapist. I've been here three times, so I recognize high-quality work when I see it. They are excellent at bodywork, but when I went in for a massage that was supposed to include work on my neck, they completely ignored it. Aside from that, I can't think of a better massage I've ever had. It has my highest recommendation. You have my highest recommendation. The employees are all very nice, and the methods they use are cutting-edge and highly effective. I know I'm getting the best service possible with Pain Away massage therapist.

I lived in Shanghai for four years and this was by far the best Chinese massage I’ve ever had. A lot better than in China, imagine that. Unbelievable 90 minutes for $100 dollars. Take cash… otherwise you’ll be charged $108 from get go on your credit card.

Ask for jimmy! I got a better facial here than at ten thousand waves in Santa Fe. The massage itself was more like physical therapy than a normal massage, so good! He is super intuitive and can tell what hurts and how to fix it. Can’t recommend enough. I’m glad they charge a decent amount because it’s worth it but please tip a lot.

I’ve had a massage from Eva that changed my life. This place is amazing! The massages aren’t designed to “feel good!” They’re meant to relieve pain and heal. Today is the first morning in over a year that I didn’t wake up with back pain. I will return! My only qualm is the noise level. Best massage experience I have ever have in Philly or in general, in US. Not only the massage helped me to sleep, but also gave me a period to relax. Make sure you wear your underwear, cuz sometimes they need to massage depends on different conditions. I am sure you won't regret it.

It’s expensive and worth every penny. There was a bit of pain and we didn’t discuss the massage prior to starting, but afterwards I felt so much better. Not all my back pain went away, so I’ll go back for a few more sessions. I also recommend cupping!

This is the REAL deal if you want a therapeutic massage that releases fascia and knots that are the underlying reason for pains and aches. It was NOT a relaxing massage but I feel now like $1 million bucks - my neck and middle back pain are gone. I so regret not living in Philly or else I would go there weekly.

The massage here relieved a lot of the tension and knots. I feel great and relaxed afterwards, like I can even breathe better. Great experience, I will be back. I came for a 1h deep tissue massage which I believe incorporsted the techniques from the Tui Na traditional Chinese massage as well. For the first part of the experience I was massaged through a sheet with a good amount of pressure (which I liked) applied to points where I had a lot of tension and knots. For the 2nd part I was asked if I wanted to have some oil applied and was massaged directly on my skin. The session was completed with the adjustments to my neck and back. I felt that the therapist knew all of the points extremely well and used a variety of techniques to help my body relax. He was also very professional and I felt respected and safe the whole time. At the end of the session I went for a free 30min sauna session and was even provided with some clothes to wear in the sauna and a towel. $70+22% tip for this experience were definitely worthy to me! I will be back and I might try some other treatments as well. There is an ATM inside, so if you don't want to pay an 8% fee for credit/debit card transaction I recommend either bringing cash or usingg an ATM. If you have any injuries or preferences for pressure I recommend just bringing it up before the session

My friend and I went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was pretty busy. We had to wait 5-10min even with an appointment. However, it was definitely worth the wait. They have really authentic Chinese Tuina massage. Nancy was super professional and knowledgeable. She not only helped me with my neck/shoulder/back pain but was also able to offer me a lot of personalized suggestions on food and lifestyle

My female friend had reccomend this place and spoke highly of it, she told me that her visit included a shower & was very therapeutic. I read online about the sauna was to relax your muscles before the massage. I booked my appointment for 4pm, I arrived early at my arrival, I was not offered a drink, nor shower, just shown to room to undress and then massaged. I requseted a hour massage it included oil & hot stones. There was no focus on my legs and feet during my massage , which is a major part for me since I labor working on my feet for hours. I had to request an additional 20 min for a foot massage. It was okay for what it was nothing to rave about. I still tipped $10. Maybe if I visit again I will request a thorough service of what I want and expect. I have no problem paying for what I want, I just want it to be worth it.

Rare gem in the city. To call this a massage parlor would be an understatement. It's a therapeutic experience with highly skilled body workers. Chinese style remedies, chiropractic expertise and custom treatments. Really reasonably priced for the service and ability of the people there!

Really top notch work. Very intensive and through massage. I have had massages in many different states and they do an amazingly skilled job. The deep pressure feels like they are digging into the years of my pain. I have had different massage therapists and they are all so nice and great for different reasons. Very observant and attentive to what I need. They are legit healers. I try to come here as much as I can. I've been here like six times and it really helps get me through hard work days. Don't forget to tip well, it's hard service to provide especially during a pandemic. There's also a sign out front "the only happy ending we give is pain relief." They are experts at managing and identifying and healing pain.

Had lower back and hip pain so I called to see the doctor here. The lady gave asked me to stretch in different directions and point out which positions gave the most pain. She recommended the medical massage. The interior is very spacious and clean. I was asked to lie down on the table face down and my masseuse Jack gave me a great therapeutic massage. He even walked on my back, cracking a few right knots that felt good. He used a medicinal oil which warmed my back. After the massage I opted for Chinese cupping, popularized by Micheal Phelps and other swimmers here in the US. It's not painful at all but it does leave large round hickeys that would stay for about a week. I'd recommend this place as I felt much better afterwards.

My husband and I made an appointment for couples massage. We arrived and greeted at the door. we were welcomed in and offered tea and water. It was very clean! We were early for our appointment and the accommodated is as soon as the room was cleaned. My husband had Bin and I had Jimmy (I think) the physicality of the work was perfect. Highly recommended

Edited: 5 stars, once I understood the reason for the smell (one of the treatments, not cigarettes.) Leaving my review below though, in case someone who is sensitive to smoke wanted to visit. Such an INCREDIBLE massage, but smells like cigarettes. I'm so excited that I found a place in Philly. I have chronic pain, and it's nice to know that I can find relief at this place. Only criticism, and reason I took off a star, is the smell. It STINKS like cigarettes, to the point that my boyfriend smelled it on me when I got home. I'm really sensitive to smell, and the cigarette smell in this place was pretty awful. Side note - I wasn't told about the sauna or other services that are supposed to come w the massage (I did the 90 minute $100 one with Andy), including hot towel, peppermint scalp massage, etc.

Very good massage and service. I came the day after my second COVID shot when I was in lot of physical discomfort. I feel significantly better after leaving here. I will go back again! My only critique: it’s not very relaxing how much the staff talks, clanks around and makes noises since the individual massage rooms are only separated by curtains, not real walls.

I guess I'll see how I feel tomorrow, but I had one sore vertebra in my upper back, but this morning my entire spine is sore. The massage table I was giving was missing some padding, so now my sternum is bruised as well. Waiting room was comfortable and attractive but forget a glass of cold water.. maybe it's a massage thing but all the water available was warm.

This is a fantastic establishment. The people here really care about you and your needs. I won’t go anywhere else. The place is EXTREMELY clean. In this day and age, it’s a must and they do such a great job. There is never anything dirty laying around and everything looks as though it comes from a magazine. I come out feeling fantastic. They really care about your health and well-being. Coming from the country, in Maine, cities freak me out. In this establishment, I don’t feel crowded in the sense that I am in a city. It’s incredibly quiet so you can enjoy your massage in peace. Like i said above, I will NEVER go anywhere else.

There is not much English being spoken here so be sure to know what you're going to get before you get there, with that being said this is one of the best places I have ever gone to for massage, I go once a month they remove and attack all of my knots and tight areas. They basically will stand on top of you or do whatever they have to do to get your body back in shape. I have no complaints ever. I've also experienced the glass cupping from them and would recommend that also just know that you will look like you got attacked by many vacuums for the next week or so, but the results are phenomenal. They offer you fruited water upon your completion as well. I highly recommend this place.

My daughter plays with my phone a lot and she may have done that by accident as your place was likely up on my screen as I recently went there for a massage. The massage was great! Walked in for a 1030 appointment with yoyo and was told to wait 20 mins. 20 mins turned into 30 minutes. I finally grabbed someone and said ive been waiting for 30 mins and i have an appointment. They called the manager who told me yoyo was in china and that i would be next. No sorry for your inconvenience or anything. I was finally seen and my cupping experience was tough due to a little language barrier but my back felt great afterwards. I was really bummed because i wanted to support an actual chinese masseuse instead of going to other places not chinese owned and this place specializes in cupping. So, the massage part was good but the service has alot of room for improvement. If you make an appointment I'd suggest calling to see if the person is actually going to be there and when you get there be very firm about your appointment time. Once again very bummed that this wasnt an amazing experience like others seemed to have had.

My tuina massage was massage with Jack was fantastic!! I was SO sore from a number of reasons and Jack really knows what he is doing. Very strong massage, not for people who are sensitive to strong touch. This completely healed my aches and pains and I felt 100% better the next day. I will return to see Jack again regularly. Only issues are: 1) the hole where your face rests is very uncomfortable and pushing on your larynx and thyroid, so getting the right neck position is tricky. And 2) My friends massage with one of the women wasn’t very good sadly, although the woman seemed very nice. Traditional Chinese massage here. No frills! Very awesome if you can handle it.

Life-changing!!!! May and the staff at Pain Away of Philly have greatly reduced my chronic back and neck pain through massage and cupping. I was having a hard time sitting at work, as well as lifting and carrying my growing toddler. By visiting Pain Away every few weeks, I am able to live my life more fully. PRO TIP - Use Google translate on your phone to ease communication, as while all staff are excellent, they speak English at different levels.

My friend recommended me to go here and it’s exactly what I needed! The waiting area was so beautiful and it help set up a relaxing and calm ambiance. They offered me a complimentary drink while I waited for them to set up the room. I got the 1 hour massage and it worked out all my knots and melted away my stress. My masseuse was attentive and did such a great job! This place really puts in the work and helped me with all my problem areas. Definitely setting up another appointment to go back!
