Josh was amazing! I called with an urgent need to get all my locks changed on a Saturday. He was here 30 mins and done within 10 minutes. Very friendly and only charged me half of what he originally quoted me as it didn’t take him long. Will definitely keep his number for any future locksmith needs!

I called Mid-Iowa Lock after our sliding glass door lock broke. Josh said he could be out within an hour and he was actually a few minutes early. Within a couple minutes he discovered what had broken and everything was fixed in 30 minutes. Efficient, friendly, patient--what more can you ask for? Great service!

The tale of a life time happens every once in a blue moon, told of a man or woman that decides to go above and beyond the normality of our convenes and does something extraordinary. This is not a tall tale and is not for those who wish to do harm on to others, nor was this an attempt to get a handout, this was a cry for help that miraculously answered by our unsung hero at Mid-Iowa Lock. I searched google for lock smiths hoping to find someone that could help me fix my problem, I had a feeling that it would be more than they could offer, I knew it was a long shot but I had to try. I called several different places, my mechanic, the dealership, another locksmith, finally landing here. By my surprise he took time out of his day, a busy schedule with many of customers that offered better pay. Yet he came to me in my time of need, I only had 75 dollars to my name, and a last ditch effort to get my vehicle up and moving. This man the owner came out to help with only a promise of 75 dollars and a second payment on the 31st my girlfriends payday. No one else would accept that offer, I do not blame them. To many people have taken advantage of the beautiful people that wouldn't have thought twice to help another except they were used by someone trying to mess over another. I am not that type of person, he did not know that yet he still came to my aid. I have the original key that came with the vehicle, he used it and made it a new key for an ignition cylinder I once had to replace, the keys I was using weren't chipped to the security system like the original was. He went to work with his computer and found that no matter what he did it would not register the chip. I understood that the immobilizer unit, that senses the programmed chip in the key, was no longer properly working. There was nothing more he could do until I find another immobilizer that will work with my vehicle, he offered many different options all of his offers were cost effective, he knew from our talk on the phone, I was struggling with money. We agreed on 75 and yet he only charged me 73 for the work he did. In my opinion should have cost much more, he did in fact use what they call a token in his line a work. So you know those tokens are expensive and can make or break a company. This man served time for his Country and deserves the respect of a true blue business owner, you may not love or even like our men and women in our armed forces and that is your right however this man went above and beyond the call of duty to help a stranger in need. He was and is my hero. Thank you Josh, without you I couldn't have gotten as far as I did yesterday August 22nd 2019.

I had two damaged Honda keys that I needed copied over to some blanks I had ordered over the interwebs. Was unable to find anyone in Ames that was willing to copy these for me. Josh was able to do it and drove almost an hour to my home to get it done. The keys work great, and it was quite a bit less than going through a dealer for new keys.

I was stuck in Iowa with a ignition switch issue and it was like 830 pm , i went thru the list of locksmiths that came up on a google search only to get answer machines and messages that they were closed for the nite. I then dialed Mid_iowa Lock and lo and behold he answered the phone and was very much wanting to help me out and get me back on the road. I gave him my location, he verified the location and said he would be there in a half hour. 15 minutes later he pulled up, seen a Marine bumper sticker and shook my hand and said Semer Fidelis, a fellow Marine. He then went to diagnose my problem and said, that unfortunately, the part i would need would have to be bought at a parts store which at this time of the nite all were closed. So, he said, I will get your car started to get you home and sure enough he did that. He then made sure I knew what part i needed to get and then showed me how to install it once i got the part. I was able to drive my 4 hrs home that nite, and was so thankful that Mid Iowa went out of the way to get me home.
