Icenia was great to work with. Though she was extremely busy (demand for refinances is high), she was happy to answer my questions and always made me feel like they were welcome. She and Terrence were both very knowledgeable and I had confidence in them. The refinancing process took about a month, all told, and was smooth as could be. I'm a current PennyMac customer who chose to stick with them because I've had no problems with them, and this experience made me feel good about that decision. The bad: the company PennyMac uses for closing, ServiceLink, could have been safer. They have no eSign available for PennyMac customers, so they send a mobile notary to your home (risky for all concerned in COVID-19 times, and unnecessary under current emergency orders in my state). They do allow signing over video-call if you need it once they deliver the documents, though, which makes it a bit better, and the notary they sent knew his stuff. The other thing you should know is the time frame the day of signing. In my case, I had 150 pages of documents to read and sign (most of which were new to me)--and ServiceLink only allowed 30-60 minutes for the appointment. The rest of the process, though, was just fine, and they did what they needed to right on time, despite warning that there might be some delays.

From the initial phone call to closing to follow-up communication, I felt like I had a team of experts assisting me throughout the process. Their associates were patient, kind, and well-versed on understanding my concerns and addressing them in an easy to understand manner. The estimates were nearly exact and they offered an authentic explanation referring to the small difference in actual and estimated closing costs, even though it was in my favor. PennyMac has the resources of a large organization and they deliver the customer service of a small company. That's having your cake and eating it, too!

I was done in less than a month. From my initial call to inquire about rates to getting my refinance funded, it was barely over three weeks. FYI, it was an IRRL for a VA Jumbo loan and they can be a pain, but not this time around. Not a bit.
