I contacted The Vermont Gem Lab as a returning customer to ask if it was possible to resize my wedding band and I received a call back from Ken the same day to schedule an appointment with me. During my appointment he was supportive and informative about what I could do with my ring, at a reasonable cost. Resizing took just a couple of minutes to get it right, and then he cleaned up the edges to customize its fit for greater comfort on my finger. My wife and I have had several pieces of jewelry made Vermont Gem Labs and it has been an excellent experience. The craftsmanship is amazing and the service is top notch. We remade a necklace recently and when it was finished, we realized the stones would look better in a different arrangement. To our surprise, Kennon made the changes without charging extra and the piece is magnificent. On another occasion, we brought an old watch in thinking the best we could do was have it melted down for the gold. Kennon put us in contact with an expert who thinks they can get considerably more value from selling it to collectors. We got my engagement ring from here and Kennon and Amber were amazing to work with. Kennon took three diamonds that came from my grandmother's ring and my finance's grandmother's ring and created the perfect setting incorporating our ideas and his expertise. The original diamonds were old and had a lot of wear and tear but after he sent them out, they came back bright and sparkling and our families don’t even recognize them as the original dull stones they started off as. We are thrilled to be able to keep our family stones as part of the engagement ring. I have known Kennon and his work for many years. I recently came to him to discuss a custom ring which I had been thinking about for a while. I can't say enough good things about Vermont Gem Lab. I needed some jewelry reappraised, and they were very accomodating of the tight timeframe in which I needed it done. The level of customer service and professionalism were outstanding, as was Kennon's knowledge and experience. Many jewelers require that you leave your gems with them, and some send them out for work. I would highly recommend Vermont Gem Labs to anyone needing that type of service. I contacted Vermont Gem Lab about 3-4 years ago before my wedding. My [now] husband proposed to me with my grandmother's engagement ring and wedding band - she had gotten married in 1946, so both definitely needed a little work. I had taken the engagement ring to a local jeweler ONLY to have the band resized downward to fit my finger. When I got it back, they had reinforced the prongs around the central diamond without contacting me first. Normally I'd be grateful, but this was a vintage setting and not just 4 simple prongs. It had an art deco design and millegraining all around. I was not happy that they did this without even contacting me to ask if they could make alterations, as it's a vintage piece. They told me the prongs were really worn down and I was at risk of losing the center diamond, which is why they reinforced the prongs for me (albeit free of charge). After extensive research online, I was really impressed with Kennon's restoration section of his website. Some of the rings were very similar to my grandmother's. I called him and spoke with him personally to discuss what had happened at the other store, and get his opinion. I sent him pictures and he graciously discussed with me the entire process he would use to repair my ring, if I sent it to him or brought it by the shop. He described everything in very specific, minute detail. It made perfect sense, and I had seen good reviews of his work. So, I took a chance and sent my ring to him (I was out-of-state and unable to make a trip to see him directly). I received it a few months later and was immediately impressed. It was stunning. Gorgeous. He also reinforced the prongs and redid all of the millegraining on the wedding band, too, but the biggest problem was the engagement ring, which is why I am mostly showing photos of that. I highly recommend him. The process was a little slower than I expected, but Kennon MORE than made up for it with impeccable customer service, even going so far as do to a little extra work free-of-charge because of the delays in repairing my ring. I'm very happy with it. I was married in 2016 and have had 0 problems with my ring. I can't say enough good things about this experience!

Ken is extremely knowledgeable and was willing to offer his advice to me in the process of replacing a missing diamond in my fiancé's engagement ring. He worked with me along the way, quoting me on the degree my tab was running me for the necessary and measurable work that needed to be done on the ring itself in order to insure the ring would last in the long run. He tightened the prongs that needed adjusting, and triple checked other prongs on the ring as well. He topped off his on-the-spot service (all in a reasonable amount of time and even moreso a reasonable price) with a complimentary cleaning. I appreciated Ken's hospitality and his patience. It is clear that he has a passion for his work and a pride for making his customers happy. I will be returning for future advice and maintenance for sure!

I don't wear jewelry and haven't my entire life. I don't even like to wear a watch. However, once I found the love of my life and proposed to her I needed to figure out a ring for myself that would work. Kennon worked with me to find the right ring for my situation, which is actually super cool and I can tolerate wearing. Its made out of Damascus steel which is what Samurai swords are made of, and there is a little bit of gold inlay for bling! Ring looks awesome and I can actually enjoy wearing it and have gotten some nice compliments about it because its so unique. Kennon was also super helpful in helping spruce up my wife's ring, which she inherited from her grandma. He super cleaned it, fixed some stuff on it, and tuned it up. Highly recommend the Vermont Gem Lab!

Ken was so patient and helpful on the phone and then in person to resize my engagement ring - it took him half an hour and he showed us what he was doing each step of the way which was very interesting - he is clearly a very skilled and passionate craftsman. We were very impressed how perfect the ring looked afterwards, you couldn't tell it had been resized at all. Ken explained the use of the laser makes this much more precise. The price was also more competitive than what other jewelers quoted us. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for jewelry or interested in repairs or ring resizing!

I needed a repair on a watch that my father gave me for my graduation. They answered my first call (on a weekend) and made a appointment for the next day. I came in thinking it would be an expensive hassle to fix, but instead he fixed my watch in almost 20 minutes. To him this was a minor repair, but to me this was a huge weight off my shoulders (because this watch is the nicest ($$) single item I possess) and to me it was terribly broken. I was stressed out by the watch's brand when I called them and they said that I would have to mail my watch to them on my own dime and that they probably wouldn't be able to fix it because it was a problem with the clasp and not the watch. Then I called the Gem Lab and was alleviated to have someone to quell my stress about my broken watch, and then they promptly fixed it with professional ease. Anyone with jewelry that is mangled or broken should bring it to this shop, I am sure they will fix it with the same ease.

As any guy who doesn't own any jewelry can attest, engagement ring shopping is daunting. Couple that with the fact that I had my grandmothers stones I needed reset into a custom band and I was overwhelmed. I had a few appointments at other shops and they somehow made me even more overwhelmed. Enter Kennon. He somehow knew exactly what I meant when I said I wanted something "clean and simple" and was more than happy to send me 3 different reworks of the CAD design. And he wasn't even mad that I ultimately chose the first design he sent (he nailed it out of the gate, of course.) I can't recommend him enough.
