What a wonderful experience when coming here. Me and my partner were highly impressed and definitely happy with visiting here. The ice cream is made fresh in small batches and the flavors are so unique and phenomenally done. The staff was fantastic at their job and just happy to work there. I love the entire vibe this place gives off and I can tell all the customers were happy and enjoyed their treats as much as we did!

Made fresh in batches! Variety of flavors, all are absolutely delicious! Creamy and filling; definitely can make this your lunch! They have vegan options as well. My go-to are the malts! They also have ice cream cakes, in the cooler, or you can get one customized for your occasion, by ordering ahead. Staff is always super cool!

1st time visit and it won't be my last! Over 30 freshly churned ice cream flavors in our cabinets made using high-quality ingredients. All of our ice cream is made from scratch and churned fresh in-store. You'll know the difference when you taste it. I tried the COOKIES & CREAM and CAPPUCCINO CHOCOLATE CHUNK in a waffle bowl. And a friend had the MOJITO (MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP) and the CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT (NUTELLA). All served by 2 of the nicest people!! Super friendly and really helpful. Many favors to try and they also have homemade ice cream cakes, chocolates and other sweets. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The absolute best ice cream place! My family loves Gerald’s because the ice cream tastes so fresh and creamy and the staff is always wonderful! Love that they take the time to explain what is in each flavor and the whole process of how the ice cream is made is very fun to watch! We have been many times this summer and will continue to make the drive to come back every time! A true VB gem!

Wow! What a treat experience! So many options to choose from it was hard to pick. Plentiful ice cream flavors, macaroons, pastries! They even had hard to find sundae toppings! Everyone was so friendly and really cared that we were enjoying our ice cream. I look forward to trying their pastries, they looked delicious too. I also liked how they organized their flavors on the board. It was clear that they pay very close attention to even the smallest detail. It shows! The ice cream was rich and creamy.

The brownie sundae was my choice. The ice cream of choice was cookie dough, and the brownie provided the ideal amount of warmth. The brownie was made from scratch and made for an excellent combo. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. Your order is carefully put together. They also cared about how my order was presented.

Fantastic upper echelon treats here. Nephew had a blueberry cheesecake malt shake and I had the Parisian styled hot chocolate. Nephew said this is the best malt shake he has had. The hot chocolate was made not with powder but melted french chocolate. Very enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and check this place out stat!

Gerald’s hosted us for a homeschool field trip. We had children age 2-11 and everyone was engaged, including the moms! Their ice cream is delicious and made with with the freshest ingredients! We will be back!!

Customer service was very timely, patient and knowledgeable. It was our first time in but I have followed them on Facebook for a while. Ice cream is made in house with quality ingredients. Mojito mint you can taste the real mint used and the vanilla is quality Madagascar vanilla bean through it. As a pastry chef and having my first job ever in ice cream, I can say without a doubt, Gerald's knows what they're doing and how to do it well. Will definitely be back!

We orchestrated a homeschool event here. It was very well done. The owners were kind and took time to educate our group, answering all their questions. The kids loved the tour of the parlor and watching the ice cream making process. The ice cream is very good! I had the mango sorbet, it was deliciously smooth, and creamy. Everything is made from scratch, no artificial ingredients or premade bases. Would highly recommend for a special treat!

Nice clean location. Employees were friendly and efficient. Ice cream was amazing. Between the 4 of us I tried 4 different flavors and they were all very delicious. I knocked off one star because of the prices. Now let me explain, I don’t mind paying for good ice cream, I think the ice cream itself was worth it. I was a little discouraged that the employees have scales and were weighing every scoop. What I really thought was unfair was the pricing for toppings vs how much they actually give you. $1+ for hot fudge which was out of a squirt bottle and not really warm, but very little was put on the ice cream. Same rule applied for all the toppings we had, whip cream, sprinkles etc. I don’t mind paying for toppings but felt they should be a little more generous for the prices they charge. $55 for the 4 of us. I would still recommend them but if I went again I would only get ice cream and skip the toppings.

Wow what a pleasure going in today! I came in for the homemade pastries. Carter was so friendly and helpful! Made my experience very enjoyable! He went out of his way to explain the pastries and flavors and even threw in some reheating instructions. I’ll definitely be back to try the ice cream!

Been coming here for a year now and they've always had the best ice cream. All made in house and a ton of amazing flavors. Now they've started doing pastries and coffee in the mornings! All of the pastries are to die for, Gerald's is definitely one of my favorite places in Hilltop. All of the employees are friendly and helpful, I recommend this place to everyone I know!

Cutest older gentleman owns this. Highest quality ingredients. Had an affogato, traditional italian dessert with ice cream, whipped cream and espresso poured over! Sooo good! Daughter had raspeberry sorbet, was most flavorful that ive ever had! And almost creamy, same goes for the pina colada sorbet. Home school groups can come for trip here too!! Definitely will be back, realky mom and pop style, loved the spirit in there.

Gerald's has the BEST pastries in the area! Their almond croissant melts in your mouth, and I love their kouign-amann. Simona is there from Wednesday thru Sundays bright and early making everything from scratch. Plus, you get a free coffee with the purchase of a pastry. Why on Earth would you ever go to Starbucks?

My boyfriend and I decided to give Gerald's a try when we saw that they offered ice cream flights! I'd never seen that before and the 4 scoop flight was PERFECT for sharing! Such a cute old time ice cream spot and the 2 guy employees(I can't remember there names, sorry) who were working were very knowledgeable about the flavors and menu! Very clean store with a delicious variety! Will have to go back and purchase a cake next time

Great ice cream and atmosphere! I loved the murals on the wall and the old music playing in the background. My cousin and I got ice cream flights, and they were delicious! Came here with friends who said it just upended to recently. The scoop size is pretty huge and the waffle cone was good but the flavors of the ice cream felt subdued. Like not too flavorful. I got a peach and strawberry.

I ordered a vegan icecream birthday cake from Gerald’s and I have to say it was delicious. You could not tell that it was vegan. The staff was exceptionally nice and even though the cake was pricey, it was worth it. Our whole family (who are not all vegans) LOVED it! Thank you for the plant based option! We will be back!

Excellent customer service, but no flavor. The wife and I each got a cone, one was peach cobbler and the other chocolate banana, neither of which had any flavor. I figured that my scoop of peach was bland because its a seasonal flavor and hadn’t been perfected, but when I tried her chocolate banana I realized that neither flavor had any real taste. Both were just sweet cream. The folks behind the counter were very helpful and nice, really set a great atmosphere. Service 5/5 I’ve cream 2/5

Portion size way too small for the price. The ice cream was good, but overvalued. The rent must be high in hilltop in order to need to charge that much for a small scoop. Paid $10 for two small scoops. Also the limit of two samples is stingy. I’m new to the shop and made a trip out there to check it out, and left with a disappointing experience. Great environment, great vibe, fun interior design, over priced. Hope to return in the future but will go to a few other spots first.

Gerald’s has been a welcome addition to our area. Their ice cream is so delicious- I think we have tried them all! My favorite is salted caramel. Their macarons are so delicious and in beautiful, fun colors. Their hot chocolate bombs we had at New Years Eve were a hit with the family and tasted so delicious. The quality of their treats is very high, the service is friendly and helpful, and the store is well kept and clean. If you haven’t been, go! You will become addicted too!

Super Good! I am surprised that this place has this rating at the moment. After trying their ice cream it became our favorite! We have tried all the ice cream shops in Virginia Beach and this is the best!!! Is it pricier than other ones? Little pricier. But it is worth it! It may not be a place where you wanna go every day, but for a treat once in a while. The store is super clean, staff is polite and very informative and it’s a big plus that everything is natural. The icea cream is so creamy and flavorful, and the sugar cones are super good and crunchy and the scoop size is big.

FANTASTIC. First of all, this place is so immaculately clean. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted so warmly by the employees. The cost isn't cheap but definitely reasonable - and YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The ice cream was amazing. Thick, rich, creamy. Very flavorful. Tried the banana, peanut butter, fudge ice cream, the peach ice cream, and the dark chocolate ice cream. All were to die for. Wonderful customer service. Also the staff seemed so very grateful for our business. I can't recommend this place enough!!!

So happy they have lactose free options!! My favorites are the raspberry vanilla swirl and the mango sorbet. The raspberry vanilla is super creamy and tastes like traditional ice cream. The mango sorbet tastes like you bit strait into a mango.. both in flavor and texture!! Amazing service and the owner aways checks and makes sure everything is to our liking. 11/10, highly recommend.

Such an awesome environment with the BEST handmade ice cream! I tried my first ice cream cake from Gerald’s because of their amazing Seasonal Sale on ice cream cakes & pints. I took home caramel apple (so creamy with apple brandy) and apple pie pints. The Sprinkle Countdown cake was a big hit with the kids! I let them eat it for breakfast where they pretended they were apart of a desserts competition and won Best of Show. I guess you can call me World’s Best Mom. Now they are excited to try out their house-made cocoa bombs!

We absolutely love Gerald's Ice Cream Bar. We keep coming back and sharing flights, because there are so many unique flavors to try. Our favorites are black sesame, pistachio, and Nutella. Yes, the prices are higher than your average ice cream place, but the quality is excellent. If you're looking for super sweet, artificially flavored, brightly colored, or cheap ice cream, then this isn't the right choice for you.

I took my family to Gerald's Saturday night and we all tried different flavors. The ice cream is very unique and made with real quality ingredients. It has a fresh homemade taste. My daughter loved the mint chocolate chip, my 2 year old granddaughter loved the purple UBE ice cream which is made from the Ube root, very cool. I have been a vegan for the past year so I tried the vegan Peanut Butter & Chocolate Chunk. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I honestly couldn't tell it was Vegan. The cakes and ice cream sandwiches look amazing and I'm sure we will get them in the future. It's nice to have this place as an option for something unique and fresh. I am excited to try the other Vegan flavors.

Pricier, yes but being from DC I guess I'm unphased better ingredients cost more. I stopped in the day before my actual visit and both times the staff were friendly and helpful. You can tell the ingredients were high quality the flavor and texture were fantastic. I had peach and my partner had vanilla with fresh blueberry compote, both were excellent.

Probably the best Ice Cream on the East Coast. Pecan Pie and Blueberry Cheesecake and Banana Fudge are at the top. It's the only ice cream I've eaten since I had it. Also the staff is always nice and Carter is seriously the man he knows everything there is to know about this ice cream. If you haven't been there go tonight.

The ice cream shop looks great. The variety of flavors great. The price...a bit pricey. The flavor is okay. It definitely doesn't taste like other shops. It's probably because it's all natural and handmade. My buds aren't used to that. I'll have to try it again... Then give an update. UPDATE!! SOOOOOO, I went back but had sorbet not ice cream. The texture was different and it was DELICIOUS. I also had it in a handmade waffle cone which was also delish. But! Don't leave ur purse in the car... Ur gonna need extra money!

The Mint Chocolate Chip is the best I’ve ever tasted. Not your conventional grocery store mint chocolate, but has the refreshing taste of authentic mint leaves that they use. Very expensive, but the price is very worth it. The aesthetic of the store is very nostalgic, bringing together a wonderful experience.

really cute aesthetic but they were out of a lot of flavors. their ice cream is good but also really thick, like to the point where you kind of have to chew it. the cherry chocolate chunk is incredibly sour, the nutella is good, the milk chocolate is okay, the dark chocolate is good and the ube was really good.

Just had a birthday last week. We had the Crazy for Chocolate Ice Cream birthday cake and it was the best ever. We also sampled a new item called Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Cake. My wife and I tried cookies and cream, butterscotch bourbon, blueberry cheesecake, nutella, raspberry and mango sorbet (phew) because it was all SO amazing we kept ordering. I found out the unique flavoring was the result of them using imported french puree.

I have no idea how this place has a 4.6(!) overall. The service was good, but slow (poor guy working alone on a Saturday). The waffle cones were good. The presentation was good. The ice cream tasted like sweet frozen water. The scoops were WAY too small for how much they cost ($20 for 3 tiny scoops of flavorless ice cream and 2 good-but-not-THAT-good waffle cones). We probably won't be back given that there are so many better options out there.

Had a fun time enjoying Gerald’s Ice Cream with our family. Everyone had something different and agreed we will definitely return. The young man working there was very helpful and polite and friendly, it was also very clean and nicely decorated. We highly recommend Gearld’s for delicious ice cream.

I love this cute little ice cream shop off Laskin. Always friendly staff inside and they have a ton of in-house and rotating flavors as well as a handful of sorbet if that’s your style. They also have chocolates and cakes available as well as some pastries and coffee. We got a chocolate hazelnut praline coffee ice cream with two coffees and the coffee was seriously good. My americano tasted like the ones I got in Europe last year. They have nearby Starbucks beat. Love the interior and their option of ice cream flights if you’re brave enough!
