I visited Dairy Joy today and got a chocolate milkshake. The mixture was a little off which made the shake just average at best and the container it came in wasn’t adequate which caused the milkshake to leak in my car after I had dried off the bottom of the shake. There was water dripping off the roof and onto the ground where people walked and the parking lot could use some updating. I loved the color of the tables and the use of old cars. Overall, it was just an okay experience and I would have rated it lower due to the malfunctioning container but the aesthetics where you could enjoy your ice cream helped bring this ice cream parlor to a 3/5.

There is so many ice cream places around here but we decided to come to Dairy Joy because they have the dipped ice cream. We had banana split, dipped ice cream, vanilla shake and regular ice cream in a waffle cone and we all loved it. The size are not bad for the price. My only complaint is they don't offer Military discount. The place is not doing bad Financially because there was 2 lines even after 30 min so they were busy. It won't hurt to offer some discount to those who serves or served our country, in my opinion. Love that they had 2 cars for pictures and the 2 corn holes to play.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I love the updates and the drive thru is an amazing addition. The only reason for 4 stars is the milkshakes aren't the same, no matter how I order it, it's always spoon thick and before you could order it that way or more milky. No matter how many times I ask for it to be thin enough to drink through the straw it's always super thick. It won't stop me from coming back as everything is still delicious!

This place got new ownership in the past couple of years and they have invested in the products and outdoor seating area. Good variety of ice cream treats with easy pay, contact-less options. Seating areas are covered now, and there is a wonderful vibe to the whole joint. Soft serve and hard ice cream is available in cups, waffle cups, waffle cones, and auger cones. Many flavors. There can be a line during busy times, and parking is not plentiful. Note that some of the businesses nearby are not agreeable to people parking in "their" parking spaces. I was accosted once by the owner of the nearby convenience store, which guaranteed I'll never step foot in his store ever.

This has quickly become one of our favorite places to stop in for our ice cream fix! And a 1/4 pound hotdog, just woah!!! We've not had anything we didn't love. I see a lot of reviews saying it's cash only, but they do take cards as well :)

Never actually heard of it till today, definitely recommend going at night after dinner, the place is lit up an looks amazing! Got our milk shakes pretty quick an sat down as we listened to some classic rock kinda music... The lady who took care of us at the window was super nice. Glove an mask on as she made our shakes! I got a banana an Butterfinger milkshake! Freaking delicious! Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good ice cream with a great atmosphere.... Look out Bo's ice cream..... You definitely have some competition!

I loved this place. Let me tell you something, that boy In the drive thru hut can whip up a mean milkshake. It was so good I tried calling to let him know how much I loved it before I finished the milkshake. Unfortunately, he was too busy blessing the next person in line with a tasty dairy treat to answer so I resorted to a Google review. A favorite of my wife and I. It's like the 50's with Elvis standing by watching us enjoy music from the 50s 60s and other oldies. There are some very unique flavors, as well as tons of treats from sundaes to Chicago style hot dogs. I love a scoop of purple haze on top of a different scoop every visit and I get one of those giant waffle cones dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. My wife gets her faithful standby of mint chocolate chip, with hot fudge, whip cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top. We both really dig the atmosphere, the customer service is outstanding, the employees are incredibly polite, very courteous and always smiling. They've recently acquired the building next door in an expansion because the place is always busy but it's never top long of a wait for A special treat! WE LOVE DAIRY JOY! And we hope to continue visiting for years to come! Thanks for all the fantastic times and fantastic-er treats!

A darling little place. Non chain original. You don't see that much anymore. There are 2 buildings with 2 different drive ways. One of a drive through l, the other has a walk up window with two separate outdoor seating gardens. Process are fair and portions are generous.

I love what the new owners have done with the place. There's an Elvis statue and some new string lighting over the dining area. They also brought in a food truck from westshore pizza. It's still inexpensive and delicious!

We discovered Dairy Joy 17 years ago when we moved to Tampa from NY. It has always been my family's favorite ice cream place to go. Now we have grandchildren and they love going to Dairy Joy. For Christmas, my daughter gave my husband a great gift....$ tokens for Dairy Joy. It was presented so creatively...a large cup, with 3 colorful bags of tokens, a lot of colorful straw grass and a round lid. It looked like a milkshake. It was so clever and cute. So, a friend's twin daughters are celebrating their 6th birthdays. I thought they would love gift tokens from Dairy Joy. I purchased $30 worth of coins for them. The young man, who said his name was Sam, first just put the coins in a bag. I asked for them to be made up as a gift in a cup. I described what my husband's looked like. What he presented to me was so unappealing. The straw grass looked horrible! When I asked for the rounded tops he insisted he could not put those on the small cup. When I suggested using a bigger cup, he said he couldn't. I would be embarrassed to present them as gifts. When I asked to speak to the manager, Chris, I was told I could reach him on the website. However, when I called the number, it was Sam who answered the phone. We have loved supporting a local business and indulging on all of the tasty treats. Even our Golden Retriever loves getting his own ice cream cone. We have never had a bad experience at Dairy Joy until TODAY!!! I know if our favorite server who has worked there for years was there, I would have never had this bad experience. The young staff needs to learn about customer service!!! I will hopefully get a reply to my review. I am changing my 1 star to a definite 5 STARS. The owners contacted me immediately and asked when it would be convenient for me to come back to Dairy Joy to have the manager, Shirley, redo the gift coins with the proper presentation. I went back this afternoon and sure enough, Shirley was there waiting for me. I am now excited to be able to deliver this great gift to the birthday twins. Dairy Joy did not disappoint! Thank you, Kerri and Chris. Dairy Joy is the BEST!!!

I've been stopping for icecream from the 60s back when a mom and pop owned it and lived right behind the store. The new owners have step up 100% and made it so much better. Now they have a drive through/ drive up right next door. That used to be a Turner icecream / milk store back until the 60/ 70s. Easy to place a drive order. The original store usually has has a walkup line of people most nights now. But worth the wait good food

I took my daughter during a slow time. Unfortunately, only one employee was working so the family of 7 in front of us gave us an extended weight time that seemed to drag on as the parents kept changing up their order. This isn’t the company’s error, but not having enough employees to keep up with the demand resulted in a line of about 6 extra people. The Boar’s Head hot dog offered a good value for your dollars. I can appreciate any ice cream store that brings a smile to a child’s face with monopoly games on the tables outside. There are so many choices in Tampa for ice cream that I probably won’t be returning anytime soon.

Dairy Joy is a South Tampa institution, and rightfully so. They've been here since the 1950's, and if you've ever been you can see why. Their ice cream is, in my opinion, the best to be had in Tampa. My personal favorite treat is their pumpkin pie shake, and it's exactly that, they use real pumpkin pie and turn it into a milkshake. It's the best! If you haven't been yet you really need to go. They have chocolate dipped cones, shaved ice with ice cream in the middle, shakes in a ton of flavors, and ice cream. In summation, Dairy Joy is amazing.

Actually westshore pizza food truck at Dairy Joy. Food was great and more than enough to fill you up. The burger was a little undercooked for me but still delicious and thier steak and cheese hoagie is large enough for two. As always the pizza hot and fresh. Food is made to order but worth the wait. First time here tonight for Mother’s Day and it was packed but so worth the wait. The line moved quickly and the customer service was great. Even better, the Rocky Road ice cream was absolutely incredible - best I’ve had. I ordered a small and she gave me about 3 scoops. I was thrilled, lol. Friendly staff/owner, both hardpack and softserve ice creams were good, had dole whip which is rare. Unique and tasty flavors, worth the wait if there is ever any line. Good seating options and great areas for pictures. Bathroom is dirty but it is an ice cream stand so a 10/10 bathroom isn't expected.

Tried this place for the 1st time couple days ago. Wish I knew this place earlier! I was here with some friends and all love us loved our ice creams. I had a small pistachio on a waffle cone it was fantastic! The quantity they give you for a small one will blow your mind. The retro style outdoor seating is an added bonus. If you decide to go during the evening please prepare yourself to avoid mosquito bites.

Super yummy! 4 stars because I somehow expected more from the local hype. It's a cute throwback soft serve joint, and the service was quick and friendly, but nothing was phenomenal. The outdoor seating is covered- which is a big plus for unexpected Florida showers. Everything is spaced if you'd like to keep social distance. We will go back as a family, but I don't think I'd seek this place out. More a convenient place to stop if you're already passing by. We had the soft serve, pumpkin ice cream, and a hot dog and it was great!

My sister and I came here when she was here out of town. It was pretty late in the evening and it was storming so it was pretty nice to get there and see they had a little patio and all the lights. This place looks adorable at night. This was honestly the first time i had ever come close to finishing a sundae in one sitting. It was so delicious!

Love the homey ambiance, but considering this place has been around FOREVER, I would expect nothing less. Shakes, cones, sundaes, and tons of toppings. I like going to Dairy Joy. Ice-creams are one of the best in the area. However, today on 4/29/2022 I did not like that today my ice-cream cone was given to me without using gloves or napkins. Ice-cream cones were changing multiple hands and servers were not using gloves or napkins. If it happens again, I am not going there again.

This is a retro ice cream place with lots of options: shakes, soft serve ice cream, scooped ice cream, etc. I tried a coconut shake and was, unfortunately, a bit under-whelmed, but my son loved his chocolate chip cookie dough waffle cone. I'm sure the other flavors of shakes are probably better, but the coconut wasn't mixed well and didn't end up being as good as I hoped.

We go to Tampa-St. Pete once a year. We stop by Dairy Joy at least twice while there. Great ice cream and great service. Nice, polite people work there and they've been nothing but nice to everyone I've seen there. Customer Service is great. There is usually only two people working, so when the line gets backed up, it can take a little bit. But no big deal. This is our favorite.

My first banana split in years. Asked for 3scoops vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. That would have been ten dollars plus, so I got 3 swirls of vanilla ice cream with chocolate, strawberry and pineapple toppings with nuts, whipped cream and cherries on top.
