Great small ice cream parlor, in a good location. They serve Umpqua Ice Cream which is a local Oregon favorite. They had a huge selection of flavors. The person there was really friendly and helpful. I had the Huckleberry Cheesecake (there were chunks of cheesecake in it). They have indoor seating as well as a bench outside for those warmer days/nights.

Pretty standard fare ice cream shop. Nothing special, not super clean or friendly, but prices are okay, selection is fine, and hey, it's ice cream! Local shop, so definitely better than some of the chains. Worth a visit if it's close by.

Good ice cream selection. The kona coffee is too mild and the expresso coffee was too heavy so I got two junior scoops for my cone wish they have a better coffee ice cream.

I gave it 4 stars because of the customer service. However it's just Umpqua ice cream and way over priced for just a scoop. I didn't know that that is was they served, or I would have just bought a gallon at the store.

The ice cream is good and I appreciate vegan options (though would love more) but their labeling is bad. They had a chalkboard/menu with all the flavors with labeled vegan flavors on one side, and they had a flavor that wasn’t vegan listed under it. I ate it and felt pretty sick which is why I asked about it next time I went (which by then they had changed the sign so they must have noticed the mistake) and they said it wasn’t vegan and was never written under the vegan side (though I had a photo from that day showing it…) Thankfully for me that’s all that happened but could’ve been a horrible outcome as the result of carelessness for someone with a more severe dairy allergy, and it would’ve been nice for them to take accountability.

The people working here were so friendly! They made sure that they got my whole order perfectly right even though I made it a bit complicated. It was all very delicious. Their vegan options are really yummy too! I'm a fan of salted caramel chip

the vegan ice cream here is really good. even better was the service though, i was helped by a delightful lady with blueish hair and she was so incredibly sweet and just radiating positive energy. she put time and care into something as simple as scooping ice cream but the delicacy and effort in which she put sprinkles on my ice cream just… made my day. thank you!!!

What a fantastic experience! We walked in late on a Friday night and were greeted by two joyful humans behind the counter. They were kind and helpful. The ice cream is always good. Get a milkshake! I tried a vegan cherry flavor that was awesome. Thanks Dairy Hill!

Nice selection of ice cream flavors with the added benefit of fresh made waffle cones and cookies for ice cream sandwiches. Good sized space so when you're waiting for your order, other customers aren't in your way. Prices are a little higher since they are an independent shop and not a chain. But quality of the ice cream easily makes up for the slightly higher price.

Dairy Hill is a solid ice cream with excellent flavor that’s also locally sourced. I recently ordered a quart to-go from them and the process was easy and safe. I did have some trouble completing my purchase online, but I was able to call and have them collect payment over the phone. When I arrived, they had a table set-up at the entrance for keeping everyone safe. All I had to do was mention my order, and then they went and grabbed it, and I was on my way. They were out of a couple flavors with caramel that sounded interesting, but I ended up going with the Mt. Blackberry, which I highly recommend to anyone that likes some fruit flavor in their ice cream. I can’t wait to go back and try some more flavors that I am sure are delicious.

I had such a wonderful experience ordering from Dairy Hill Ice Cream. I ordered an ice cream cake with Bordeaux Cherry ice cream and Pistachio Almond ice cream. Both ice creams were delicious and the cake was beautiful. I wasn’t sure about my choice of flavors to combine but it turned out better than I could have imagined and it was the sweetest surprise for my wonderful boyfriend’s birthday. Thank you so much!

Staff is good, ice-cream is mediocre, vegan stuff is bad. Umpqua ice-cream is served, and it is...okay at best. The salted caramel vegan mess was terrible; overpowering coconut base, with none of the creaminess that coconut base can accomplish.

Everytime I come to visit family in Portland, OR, Dairy Hill is one of my first stops. This place has THE BEST ice cream. Their milkshakes, especially the vanilla, is heavenly. A little pricey for ice cream, so it really is a treat and worth every penny. The customer service is wonderful too!

We're so lucky to have an independent, old school ice cream shop in the area. The people are always super nice and the ice cream delicious. This is a 4.80 review because my only nitpick is a little more flavor rotation would be nice. I realize that's a double-edged sword though, as more rotation means that a rotation might take my favorite flavor out of the mix for a bit. 😬 This place rules though, you should definitely check it out!

I really liked this ice cream shop. It's a nice, simple little locally owned shop, and as another reviewer noted, it smells really good... due to the fact they make their own waffle cones. I ordered the coffee ice cream cone and it was great! The other flavors I tasted were very good, and they have one of my all-time favorites, pralines and cream, but I didn't get it since I was in a coffee mood. I ended up buying a gift certificate for a Christmas gift. I'm sure I'll visit Dairy Hill again.

Yum! The ice cream is delicious and they even have a dedicated peanut free scoop. Although I would prefer a designated peanut scoop. They are always friendly and inviting when we go. And patient, my kids usually take a long time to decide.

Dairy Hill is an adorable, old school neighborhood ice cream shop that seems made for tv: high school students serving throngs of folks that have walked from their homes to have a scoop. The ice cream is simple and there are lots of flavors. I loved it as much for the atmosphere as the treats...which is saying something! A small amount of parking is available in front.

Flavor offerings may not be quite as exotic as some but their ice cream is top quality—shoutout to Alpenrose dairy down the street. Cute space with a familial vibe that highlights the positive aspects of suburban community. Also no line at 8pm on a Saturday, unlike other local shops. While I don't remember specific pricing, I can safely say DH is on the more affordable side. If you're in the market for a tasty and traditional treat, this is the place.

The ice cream is pretty good, it's all Umpqua or Alpenrose. I've been spoiled by other places in Portland and I now expect weird flavors at every ice cream place but you won't find any here. But everything we've had has still been great. I recommend checking out the video store next door while your eating.

I love this place. Very unpretentious place and it feels good to support a local Portland institution, because they use Alpenrose ice cream, which is made just up the street. I believe it's the only ice cream place in the city that does this. I prefer this place to Salt and Straw any day!
