First time here, we wanted to try something new, other than salt&straw or fifty licks. We both ordered butter pecan, it was best butter pecan I have. Every bite has pecan unlike other places. It was sweet but not overly sweet. Scoop size and price are very reasonable. There are few tables inside and some outside.

Looked pretty slim on availability on a Friday evening with half of the coolers empty and a mostly empty take home fridge. Happy to see a couple vegan options, but they were out of most flavors...

I think Cloud City is the best ice cream this side of the river. I said what I said! The line is never that long, the flavors are tasty and special, and the decor is really cute. There’s a few tables inside and out but on a nice day it can be hard to find a seat. Try the roasted banana or Sasquatch tracks.

This ice cream is different in such a good way. My family loves to get the fresh made waffle cone and fill to the brim with their favorite flavor. Best thing is it doesn't break the bank. Service was super as well!

Sept 15, 2022, 1900. What great service! Two young gentlemen were taking care of the shop. They were so pleasant and helpful. The ice cream was divine. I had Marionberry crisp and Earl Gray Blueberry. The service is what i appreciated most. I'll be back for this reason.

THE BEST ice cream in Portland, hands down. Almost don’t wanna write this review as I don’t want the word to get out and the lines to turn into Salt n Straw (which this place is MUCH better than by the way), but people deserve to know. All home made ice cream, awesome flavors you won’t find elsewhere, simply the best!

Place has amazing ice cream and have excellent customer service, they were fun and excited to serve you and and very co operative. My card wasn’t working at first but they were patient and waited for it to work (which it did eventually). I definitely recommend this place regarding the fact that they have excellent service and the ice is amazing, they even have vegan options which is amazing!!!

Incredible service and such distinct flavors with VERY large portion sizes. I tried one of their summer specials: the Mountain Mule (based on a Moscow Mule) and it was delicious. Highly recommend and would love to return.

Less busy than salt and straw which is a bonus. Cloud City's ice cream is dense and rich which is a bonus. Try the rocky road here, it's one of my favorites.

Very tasty ice-cream with various flavor to choose from. I ordered Bourbon Vanilla and Salted Caramel Swirl flavors, surprisingly both matched so well. Salty and Sweet with a light taste of Bourbon. it is so good. Definitely need to go and give a try.

I knew strait away when I moved to portland that I loved this place. It has GREAT staff and amazing ice cream. I am never choosing a different ice cream place to eat. They have a huge variety of ice creams. They also have gluten free ice cream. The staff makes fresh cones. One time my cone was still warm! They have a modern feel to the inside. And amazing chalkboard art as well. The customers that come and go around there are pretty nice. I usually get a split scoop on a cone. I'd recommend sea salt cookie dough with cookies and cream. They also have free water. The staff ranges through teen to like the age 30 or 20. So don't worry about any cranky old people! All in all I really recommend this place. Pictures below ⬇️⬇️

Surprisingly elevated seasonal flavor combinations, really fresh tasting. Even the simple cookie dough ice cream seemed special. This time we enjoyed the "Better than Therapy" lemon curd ice cream with ginger molasses cookie crumbs

Great ice cream! I really like their salted caramel swirl and a waffle cone! They typically have a line in the evening hours, but it goes pretty quickly. They also have a few seats available outside but again, come early, they go quick.

The rocky road is so good. Salty and chocolate-y and with nice toasted salted walnuts instead of almonds. For chocolate lovers who always pass by rocky road as a boring flavor, you gotta try this.

Best ice cream in Portland, don't bother going anywhere else! Cloud City boasts an creative array of flavours, using homemade and locally sourced ingredients to suit any ice cream lover. Alongside the flavoured ice cream and plentiful vegan options, they also offer shakes, floats, cookie sandwiches & hand-packed pints-to-go. Hayley and Laura are amazingly passionate and gave us a big warm welcome during our stay in Portland. Tip: Ask what the specials are, they change regularly and really show their flair as an ice cream store.

probably best thing i ate on my portland trip!!! ice cream flavors were so delicious!!! got to sample the lemon tart and earl grey blueberry but decided to stay classic and get the single origin chocolate. so rich and tasty. line was out the door on a thursday night, but moved quickly. parking lot available. prices fair and portions generous. can't wait to visit again!!

Our first time at Cloud City and the service was INCREDIBLE. Such friendly staff were all so kind, helpful and accommodating. Our ice cream was delicious!! Bourbon vanilla was unexpectedly flavorful as well as cookie dough and butter pecan. If you enjoy waffle cones- you should get your ice cream in these! Homemade and with a hint of vanilla flavor. I could just eat a pile of those. Thank you, Cloud City staff for ending our night with ice cream and cheer!

The service is always wonderful. Dine in area is very small. It's more of a grab it and go place. You can ask to sample different flavors. Be prepared to possibly have to wait in a line out the door. The ice-cream is definitely worth the wait.

Delicious ice cream, extremely friendly staff, what more can you want? I highly recommend the earl grey blueberry ice cream as well as the better-than-therapy. It's probably not going to solve your issues but it's still a great pick-me-up! They currently also have a few small table set up outside in the parking lot if you aren't comfortable with eating inside.

My favorite local ice cream shop. They give you a ton of ice cream even in just a single and all the flavors are so unique and delicious. Plus they have specials all the time. Everyone is always really nice and fast. They recently added some outdoor seating which I really appreciate since that was the only thing lacking before.

Unfortunately my experience here wasn't up to the expectations. The ice cream itself (like the cream) was rich and creamy, but the taste of whatever flavors you got weren't popping and flavorful. I had the cookies and cream and the Saskatchewan tracks and it seemed like they just mixed in the toppings after they made the vanilla ice cream and there were barely any toppings at that. Highly disappointed, but was decent ice cream regardless. Just the flavors didn't have that pop. Don't recommend.

Edited: I’ve been going here for about 6 years now. They have the best, creamy chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, which is my favorite. My wife loves the Better Than Therapy. We had several visits over the last year that there were some quality issues with the ice cream, but the last 2 times we’ve come, the ice cream has been back to it’s normal greatness. I appreciate the business reaching out to us to make things right after our disappointing visits.

The bourbon vanilla didn't wow me, not much bourbon flavor at all. Large ice crystals in my scoops. About 3/4ths of the way through my cone it just tasted and felt like eating plain frozen cream. I'll try them again (diff flavor) but I was only impressed with the friendly service.

Cloud City makes the BEST sea salt cookie dough ice cream I have ever had in my life. The dough is plentiful and the perfect texture spread throughout the sweet ice cream. The mini chocolate chips provide a delightful crunch. I ate an entire pint in a day, and went back for another pint the next day. Go try Cloud City for yourself!!!

Love the unique and constantly rotating flavors at this place! Try the earl gray! The ice cream is thick and rich, the fruit and other ingredients layered in are super fresh. There is often a line when I go but it moves very fast and the customer service is great. I only wish they had more locations!

The single source chocolate was very good. The Oregon Strawberry was horrible. It was icy, not creamy. There was not a hint of real strawberries in it. No fruit pieces, no fruit skin, not even a seed. It has very little flavor and I would even guess it was artificially flavored from what little it had. Based on this visit we will not be returning.

Deliciousness of all kinds here! Their ice cream is at the top of my list of favorites for sure. They have unique flavors for every kind of craving you might have. The shop itself is fun and colorful. It is inviting and the two people that were working when we went in were super friendly. They don't get annoyed if you ask the sample a bunch of different flavors. There was a short line when we arrived but it moved quickly and the best part is you can't beat the prices! You get a huge serving of yummy home made ice cream for a little dollars. This surely is a great place to get your evening ice cream fix!!

I want it to be clear that I had this lovely product delivered. Some people dock the rating based on how close it is to their residence, or about how they had to wait in line for their food. I am giving this perfect rating for flavor and texture. Excellent ice cream! My family and I shared three flavors; vanilla pecan, chocolate peanut butter cup, and honey lavender. All these were very good.

It was great! The parlor is set up so that you order from standing outside at one door and then pick up from the other door. Brilliant for protecting everyone. We were about 8 miles away on 101° day, so my son put ice in a cooler for the trip. He promptly stowed the pints until we got home. I wanted to share for anyone who might live a little ways away on hot days. Mission accomplished! Great combo! So many more flavors to try!

I am an ice cream connoisseur and you can't find better value in Portland than Cloud City. The scoops are huge, the price is great, and the taste...THE BEST. The sea salted cookie dough has huge mounds of delicious cookie dough and small chocolate chips, by the way. No more digging for the dough only to find rock hard chocolate squares. I've never had a flavor I didn't love. Yeah, Salt & Straw, blah blah blah...they're good but you pay for the hype there. Go to Cloud City. You won't regret it.

While quite a few of the flavors seem a bit too bougie for my taste, the quality of the ice cream is fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the earl grey blueberry was, and the roasted banana flavor was incredible. The space can be a little cramped, especially when the line gets really long, but it's worth the line.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!! I LOVE the people who work here, the ice cream is always amazing and handmade with nothing but love. They will let you sample as many as you want to, and never seem annoyed like some other places. Be aware that they get super busy when the weather is good, I have seen the line wrap out the door and around and out into the parking lot. Try the gold digger if you want the most amazing chocolate peanut butter you have ever had. And if you like Tumeric, try the Sunshine sorbet if it is there. They make seasonal batches, so if you see something you like that is seasonal, I advise getting it then. Don't miss out!!

If you like the ice cream at Salt & Straw but don't like the vibe, Cloud City is the place for you. All their flavors are fun and delicious. Their staff have always been really nice and at least seem to like their job. The atmosphere is very laid back. I love this place.

*2 years and many more ice cream shops later, this is still my favorite ice cream spot! Tried this for the first time tonight. Service was friendly (I tried 5 samples!) and the ice cream was dangerously good!! Compared to Salt N Straw, this place had more ‘normal’ classic flavors. They also had unique ones like Toasted Almond Horchata and Cinnamon Brown Sugar, but nothing as odd as Salt N Straw’s ice creams, like their olive oil and black pepper. Cloud City has fresher, lighter waffle cones, more reasonable lines, and a small parking lot. Salt N Straw has a bit creamier ice cream. I like this better than Pinollo and Eb and Bean (although in fairness those are in different categories) and better than Ruby Jewel, Ben and Jerry’s, and Baskin Robbins. Already planning what I’ll get next time....

Terrific ice cream. Best salted caramel ice cream in town, but I'm afraid I have to lower my review to 4 stars. They have changed their recipe. All of their ice cream now contains egg. This is great for some people, but my daughter has an egg allergy, so we will simply have to go somewhere else (like Salt & Straw, who just dropped egg from their ice cream). Don't get me wrong. Some people think egg is important to make good ice cream. If just won't work for my family.

The owner makes all of these delicious ice creams by hand! Last night my daughter & I split a reasonably priced 2-scoop sundae ($6.25 & it was huge!), with house-made salted caramel sauce, house-made whipped cream & salted, chopped pecans. Really a masterpiece. If you're looking for great ice cream shop with old favorites AND creative foodie adventures (like berry/black pepper, or coconut lime sorbet), this is your place! And at a fraction of what Salt & Straw Charges. Worth a try, for sure!

Good ice cream, original flavors and twists on the old standards. Get the dark chocolate sea salt caramel, gold digger (chocolate peanut butter) or the Bourbon Vanilla. Ice cream so delicious it confuses me. Cloud City is an unassuming stand in Woodstock that sells the most unexpected combinations of flavours and hides them like Easter eggs among more common flavors. In a city with a culinary pedigree like Portland's, THAT is saying something. Amidst the chocolate and cookie dough you'll find flavors like lemon curd and goat cheese. And why are there 2 different flavours with that yummy lemon curd? Circus Animal, Earl Grey Blueberry, Marionberry Crisp. Gold digger. Sasquatch Tracks. How cute is it that they have a different horoscope ice cream each month and why is it accurate to the sign? I'd really like to just move in and have the counter people be my best friends, eat ice cream every day like I told my dad I wanted to when I was 8 years old...live the dream. Cloud City ain't fancy...it's every day magic. The best kind. Ice cream aficionados should grab a scoop.

Up there as one of the best ice cream spots in Portland. The location isn't that appealing from outside but it's a nice enough store on the inside. Wish the chairs were more comfortable. The ice cream is fantastic, although the waffle cones are a miss for me. Gluten free just doesn't work for waffle cones. Free ice cream on your birthday! Service is always good and prices are too.

There's nothing super impressive about this ice cream. It's good, don't get me wrong. The flavors I had were tasty. But they weren't *interesting*. The way people go on about this place and the way there is sometimes a line outside the door, I expected it to be way more interesting. Perhaps other flavors will be? I've tried 4 so far. The shop itself is pretty small and there are 4 or 5 tables for groups of up to 4. Since the heatwave is upon us there are often people just hanging out at these tables because air conditioning and ice cream. I feel that. I'll keep giving it a try.

Cloud City is a neighborhood dream with amazing small batch ice cream flavors. While some flavors are more traditional, there are some interesting flavors you must try! There's even a whole case of about 8 vegan sorbets! Be sure to go on on your birthday for a birthday sundae! A family favorite spot!

My favorite ice cream place, been going for years and it's still s place I go back to for comfort ice cream. The kind you want to cuddle under a blanket with your best friend and binge watch Netflix with. When we come with friends we usually leave with pints. Sooo good. Ruby Jewel and Salt & Straw are good too, but if I had to pick, 1 ice cream place for the rest of my life (if I wasn't allowed to go to Italy) this place would win. Great service, easily find parking, always something new to try.

Went on a late fall evening with pouring rain so it wasn't crowded and the server could take her time. Friendly service, nice variety of choices and tasty ice cream. Got a pumpkin spice shake (pumpkin spice ice cream made in the store) with whipped cream and it tasted like pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. $13 bucks for a small shake and a couple of scoops in a medium bowl. Clean, comfortable but not a lot of seating area. Overall a great Woodstock spot.

LOVE Cloud City. Covid style - you come up to the window/ door and order, and they bring it to you at another door. You can walk up with dogs/ strollers/ etc. if you’re deciding what to get, they can help you - but I can too! Cookie dough - it’s about half ice cream, half cookie dough. None of that crazy “barely-any-mixins” here. Also, if you’re not a chocolate fan, I recommend the Better than Therapy.

This is the ONLY place to go for cookie dough ice cream. It is actual cookie dough and it makes up half of the actual icecream. It makes you want to cry it is so delicious. Yes, it's a bit expensive. But nobody does cookie dough icecream like they do. They don't have dozens of flavors but I believe that's because they focus on quality and excellent flavor combinations like their summer Raspberry Buttermilk. The only awful icecream I've had is their dark chocolate salted caramel. It tastes funky and leaves a waxy buildup on your tongue. Customer service is fine and there is very little seating.

Now that Salt and Straw has been going downhill with the same crazy line, I've been going back to Cloud City more and more. Ice cream is always satisfying, if pricy. Their standard flavors are always great and while their stranger ones are generally good, they sometimes miss the ballpark by a large margin. The sorbets make amazing mixers.

The downside which really isn't too much of a downside is that the flavors they offer aren't quite as off the wall. My go to at the moment is Sea Salt Cookie Dough split with Sasquatch Tracks. Those 2 in a pint split down the middle pretty much rules!

Everyone knows about Salt and Straw and Ruby Jewel. Fewer people know about Fifty Licks on Division, and that place is better than S&S and RJ. Cloud City though . . . Cloud City blows all of those guys out of the water. Their flavors are creative and uncommon, but not so crazy that they don't work. And the textures are perfect. A bit out of the way, but well worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. My recommended flavors: chocolate stout, honey or bourbon vanilla, sea salt cookie dough, butter pecan. To name a few.

After going to Recchiuti chocolate lab To buy gifts for valentine's day, I decided to wander around the neighborhood and see what was around. I went into this place on a whim and tried several flavors. They had a candied grapefruit unit that was delicious and even a rosemary almond that was good. I ended up going with the frozen hot chocolate. They sell peanut brittle almond brittle that they make as well as cookies and they sell malt balls made by another company. Delicious and really nice staff.

In the future I'd appreciate it if they could just tell me they are out or start a new bin especially considering I paid $4 and tipped 20%. They still have great icecream but it sure is disappointing to not get what you ordered.
