What a cute ice cream shop in the Art District! The layout of the store is so beautiful, they not only sell artisan ice cream but also really nice merch (denim hats and tote bags). I highly recommend the honey lavender scoop in a waffle cup. It’s not too sweet and the lavender flavour is very settle. There are many different unique flavours, I definitely will be back to try the other flavours when I pay a visit to LA next time!

Delicious ice cream! Definitely some generous serving size as well. Loved trying all the special flavors and landed on the cinnamon snickerdoodle and one of the Halloween flavors. Quick and efficient service!

Great flavors and even better seasonal flavors. This spot in LA originated from Portland but definitely a wonderful addition to California dessert spots to try. You're able to taste the flavors and they have a used spoon slot in the counter to put your used spoons. Always try the seasonals for sure.

Pretty good ice cream, but I've had better intensely flavored scoops and I wouldn't return. I did appreciate that they do allergy scoops since I have gluten sensitivity (scooping out of fresh tubs with a new, clean scooper to avoid cross contamination). I had the vanilla and salted caramel, my friend had the malted chocolate. They were too sweet, in my option. The employees were really nice and the store location is really big with a good amount of seating.

This place has some interesting flavors like pear and blue cheese. And it really tasted like pear amd blue cheese! Ice cream doesn't disappoint at Salt & Straw. If you're ever in the area, stop there. Yum!

Popular ice cream chain with evergreen as well as rotating flavors. Right now it’s the holiday season, so they have some fun ones. Came here after brunch at Manuela and we were literally so full that we split 2 scoops amongst the five of us. The salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough will forever be my favorite. If you’re so inclined, the waffle cones are delicious. You order and pay at the counter. Limited indoor seating but there are outdoor tables. They have merchandise like hats as well as pints to-go for sale. There’s a restroom that requires a code. Credit cards accepted. Street parking.

I've heard much about Salt & Straw and their crazy flavors, however I decided to stay conservative and stick with fudge and vanilla. The vanilla was delicious and it had a little bit of a kick to it. The fudge was okay, it wasn't anything special. Their portions are huge as well, especially if you get it on a sugar cone.

Always love Salt and Straw for their rotating seasonal flavors. I had the Carrot Cake tonight and it was great. It is always packed in here but it is never an issue because the staff is always on top of it. The line moves very fast. Samples are not an issue and they seem to give out many. Parking in this area is a nightmare but it is always worth it!

It always has nice waffle smell around the store. This famous salt and straw is always busy, although you may find place to sit easily. I always get pint there. It’s still pricy. I personally don’t like chunky toppings in icecream, so salt and straw is not my favorite. (I like van leweens cross the street better, and they are cheaper.) It’s good to have them once in a while though. Honey lavender is my favorite! 👍🏻

What can one really say? It's great. The flavors are great and they're truly different. You wouldn't think of the combinations you see on the menu, creativity and flavor go hand in hand. I have to recommend the arbequina olive oil one, delicious with a silky texture, and the matcha one (seasonal) with insects was surely a treat.

This is a wonderful Salt & Straw location. I came here on a busy Saturday evening and they have a great amount of staff working here so there isn't much of a wait. I tried the seasonal Bug Juice Sorbet which was excellent. I also appreciate that they have a kid's size scoop of ice cream because that is just the right amount for me. Excited to try more flavors!!

Oh my wow! Pumpkin and goat cheese??? Sounds crazy, sure. Tastes amazing! It was like having a decadent dessert. I tried the 'Half scoop' and paired it with the coffee ice cream. Not that many variety of flavors but they do offer samples to try any of the flavors available. Very delicious and creamy though. Really enjoyed a berry pie one they had but their names are too complicated to remember 😅. It was crazy to see they even have a lucky charm ice cream 😳 but overall it's ok. It's a bit pricey because it was $19 for two waffle cones and one cup of ice cream but I guess they charge that bc of the different flavors? 🤷🏻‍♀️ they sell mugs, shirts, different kinds of honey and other merchandise. My favorite part was the waffle cones they do in store.

Really good ice cream at a decent prize. The location is minimalistic and unique and the service is quite friendly and quick. Though there aren't many seats despite the space size, it's still quite a good experience. Got the chocolate gooey brownie and the coffee flavors and they weren't that sweet, which is perfect for people who like ice cream but don't like it super sweet.

Salt & Straw ice cream company based in Portland, Oregon. Ever since I could remember going for 🍦🍨 was an adventure. Salt & Straw have a wide variety of flavors to choose from. We ordered a scoop of Coffee & Bourbon, Strawberry Coconut and Chocolate Gooey Brownie flavors. They are moderately creamy and taste good; neither too bland nor too sweet. Just perfect👌. Of the three ice cream flavors, I love the C.G. Brownies more just because I like the brownies tid bits. Prices $$ are fair; average is $4 bucks for a scoop (cone or cup). The interior decor is simple yet modern. Its spacious and well lit. Indoor seating is limited to a small wooden varnished bench with side table while outdoor seats have few tables and chairs. Street parking only. Overall, its a great ice cream parlour.

Premium ice cream store. Creative and fun flavors. The staff will let you try many of their unique types of ice cream because they know you won't be able to help your self and order some of their deliciousness. This establishment attracts a trendy crowd and is generally busy. It is expensive but well worth the treat. It is clean and well designed. I wish they did not add pork to some of their ice creams.

Perfect ice cream does exist and it's called salt & straw. This place was everything i had been told and more. Lots of amazing flavors and a wonderful staff. Go here if you're looking for dessert. You will not regret it. Just divine ice cream.

Delicious Ice Cream. They offer a wide selection of flavors. Their prices are not high but they are at a medium price range. I had pne of their Sundae's and it was good! Seating is limited though. Make sure to ask for samples! These are my first impressions though.

A busy ice cream joint with both unique and classic flavours. Tried their olive brittle and goat cheese. It was a unique set of flavours that worked well together as a combo, but got too strong towards the end of the bites. Then went back and tried their classic sea salt with caramel ribbons and their coffee and bourbon. The bourbon ice cream was very smooth with great hints of coffee flavours. Really liked this one!! One of the more outstanding coffee flavoured ice cream I've had.

Great spot to come by and try some amazing ice cream. I had a wonderful time here. I was able to try any flavor that I wanted. Which only makes it harder to choose in my opinion. But nonetheless it was great. They always have some seasonal flavors going on so be sure to keep an eye out for that. They have these cool little slots where you can dump your spoons once you're done sampling. I liked how you can split scoops meaning you don't have to order a full scoop if you'd prefer to mix and match. I tried their brownie one. To die for, just fantastic. The other one was the strawberry with cheesecake if I'm not mistaken. Wow wow wow. The prices are fair and the staff were all extremely friendly. I'll be back next time I'm in the arts district for sure.

Amazing icecream!! The flavours are all unique sounding but so tasty. We ordered 'sea salt with caramel ribbons' and 'chocolate gooey brownie' and both were delicious. I've been a few times before (on a weekend) and the lines were pretty long but the last time we went was mid day on a Monday and it was quiet. It's also super trendy and cute inside and located in a cute area so you can walk around around and visit Venice beach!

Their salted caramel ribbons ice cream is the absolute best I’ve tried! Their service staff is friendly as well even though the store is busy. This store has a cosy hangout vibe for you to chill with your ice cream! I went back and bought a pint home to enjoy. Highly recommend!

If you are a ice cream person it's impossible not to fall in love their ice creams... On fresh baked waffle cone....a handful single scoop that is filled up the inside of the cone as well.. Retro interior in artsy Art District is perfect location to find such a beautiful ice cream store... Friendly and hip staffs help you out to decide which flavor you should get. Its not easy to find parking around this area so i'd recommend to come with friends and have one person stay in the car and others go grab ice cream quickly unless you are going to stay this district for a while. Want to try all of flavors they have!!

Great ice cream shop but all of seasonal specials sold out. Nevertheless the honey rocky road was great. James coffee and nuts was also really good. Didn't try the sodas but they looked great. Take out cartons available. Can be busy times.

AMAZING ICE CREAM! Goat cheese and strawberry brittle, guava and donut, sea salt caramel... these are the kind of flavors you can expect at Salt & Straw! All locations eagerly serve you as many samples as you want on proper spoons and you'll walk out with the joy of a little kid and an amazing dessert in your hands! I've been to 3 Salt & Straw locations so far and they've all been exceptional.

One of our favorite place for organic ice cream. Sea salt caramel with stumptown coffee flavor is our favorite. Seasonal ice cream flavors are always fun to try. Definitely recommended ice cream place in LA. There is usually a long wait outside but worth the wait.

🍦 Tried & loved the honey lavender ice cream. Even though I’m not usually a fan of floral ice cream flavours as I’d be put off by the strong floral scent, the lavender scent’s relatively mild & goes well with honey 📍 Great location in the arts district. Came here on a weekday afternoon so it was pretty quiet & there wasn’t a line 👎🏼 Only downside was that I wish there were more dairy-free or vegan options for those who are lactose-intolerant like me 🥲

Really great ice cream here! I liked that they had a chute where you put your dirty spoons. I got the sweet potato pie flavor as a half scoop with another half scoop of some seasonal flavor with ganache. The ganache was really good. So was the potato. Really no complaints. If you're looking for something more exotic, though, they have other flavors like olive oil. I sampled that, it was interesting. I thought it was good.

If you want to try new types of ice cream come here. Parking is pricey/hard to find. Get a lift or uber instead. You can try all their flavors before you buy. These guys are awesome

Solid. Good flavors, good service. I think this place was a big deal when they first opened but the shine has faded a bit. Maybe that's just how ice cream places go? Their ice cream is incredibly rich - sometimes I feel it's too rich and sweet. And they're flavors are definitely skewing toward the less subtle and more sugar blast. At least it seems that way. But, it doesn't disappoint. What's next?

What's not to like? It's ice cream! You can smell the fresh waffle cones being made on the whole street. They are known for their sea salt caramel ice cream but it is VERY salty. The almond brittle ice cream was my favorite.

I love the variety of flavors at Salt & Straw. You won't find any basic ones because all of their flavors are unique. Don't let some of the names turn you off though because they may just surprise you at how good it is! I remember one time I tried a sample of the peach & blue cheese and it was so yummy. They also have seasonal flavors, so I like how they change up the menu every now and then. During my last visit here, I got a double scoop of the roasted strawberry & toasted white chocolate + coffee & bourbon. The strawberry one was so tasty and not like your typical strawberry flavored ice cream. It's something you just have to try out for yourself! For the coffee & bourbon one, I mostly just tasted the coffee flavor. Regardless, it's still very good. I came on a Saturday around 6pm and there was a line. Seeing as it was barely dinner time, I could tell that this place is popular and it gets pretty busy. But the line doesn't take too long and service is great despite the crowd of people.

Long line for something decent. I didn't think the selection was that amazing but still the little they had was tasty. I ordered the strawberry and coconut which was fine, the hibiscus and coconut it was okay but not really my cup of tea it was a bit on the tangy and left a aftertaste. The price was a little high for a single scoop. I def would recommend it but not worth all the wait and traffic to get there

I'm always excited to get the honey lavender 😎 it's my all time fave!! I did try the salted caramel cupcake, which i liked only when i got to the salted caramel, i didn't really like the brownie part. My hubby got the salted caramel cupcake and strawberry tres leches. He wasn't a huge fan of either. Frida (our chihuahua mix) got herself a doggy scoop of vanilla ice cream. I was a bit skeptical because i didn't ask about the ingredients in the scoop. She never eats human food, so I figured a small scoop won't hurt. The service was great! Thanks guys 😁😀

Pretty good ice cream! I like their downtown Disney location more because of the ambience and plentiful seating. This one gets their flavors spot on, but somehow the ice cream melts really fast? Went a second time and had the same experience. If anything, ask for a cup and then put the cone on top. There's metered parking and some seating for another cafe across the street. Good for a grab and go. No sampling bc of covid.

I love this ice cream. I think it’s one of the best ice cream spots. The double fold vanilla is amazing. Highlights: Almond Brittle Roasted strawberry white chocolate Chocolate cookie dough Caramel sea salt The seasonal flavors always have an amazing one at least. I tried the maple peanut butter french toast and it was really good. They have pints to go as well. The staff is always friendly and patient no matter how many flavors you want to try. Def my go to spot.

A great ice cream shop in an arty neighborhood. It was my first visit and they had many flavors to choose from so I did not know which one to take but they let me sample as many times as I wanted, which was very kind. Had a great time at this ice cream shop. It was a first time visit for most in my party. The have some pretty crazy flavors going on in this small batch ice creamery. I had the sea salt with caramel ribbons. Really delicious. They let you taste anything you want and really allow you to take your time. When I got my scoop the employee said, if you don't like, no problem, I can get you something else. Wasn't adventurous enough to try some of the really interesting ice cream like "pear & blue cheese" or the "Arbequina Olive Oil" just didn't seem to be ice cream flavors. Fun place, a little pricey, but good quality ice cream.

Smell of just made waffle cone is intoxicating at this joint. Love that you can try flavors before deciding. Roasted strawberry coconut sorbet hit the spot and I enjoyed it despite feeling bit under the weather. They’re flavorful but refreshing despite the rich bite fulls. The richness doesn’t stay in your mouth like some ice creams do, overwhelming you with the taste. And complimentary water is a nice touch.

Love it here! I love the quirky flavors available, too bad during COVID there aren’t any samples. The employees are always super nice and helpful. I like getting the half scoops because the full scoops can be too much sometimes.

I think this is my favorite place to get ice cream in California. I say that cause I’m from Illinois and I love Oberweiss ice cream. I love everything about S&S. Samples and split scoops. A split scoop is plenty. Two scoops is awesome but overwhelming if you can finish cause the ice cream is so rich! Tip: don’t be afraid to try something different. The black olive and goat cheese is delicious!

I had heard about Salt & Straw from a friend who is a big fan. When someone says that a place is their favorite place and can't stop talking about it.... it warrants checking out. My wife and I went and ordered the Lavender Honey scoop and the Dandelion Chocolate Hazelnut scoop. First of all the ice cream was unique and excellent. Customer service is A++++ When they see the line getting long, employees come out and start talking to you about menu options, recommendations, and offer you samples. The gentleman that came out and talked to us was so helpful and eager to get samples. Everything tasted really good but we highly recommend the cookie dough, chocolate brownie or the strawberry flavor. Crafty ice cream with incredible service. This place serves a menu of ice cream with quirky flavors like avocado with strawberry jam. They also rotate a set of flavors themed to the month such as thanksgiving flavors for November. (Turkey ice cream never tasted so good). Salt and straw is on the pricier side for ice cream but the service seems to make up for it. They let you try as many flavors as you want which is the reason why the line can stack up.

Love this ice cream. Literally the best I've had in the world, aside from gelato in Italy (not ice cream, I know, but it's the only thing that comes close to how delicious this stuff is). Tons of samples and a super friendly, helpful staff. I love the Meyer Lemon and the Gooey Chocolate Brownie and the Smoked Sea Salt with Chocolate Feuilleton (wafers) and the WAFFLE CONES. Ask them to split a scoop so you can try 2 flavors and maintain some semblance of portion control (if you care about such things). Enjoy!

Crazy fun flavors, and lots to choose from. The flavors can get a little too adventurous at times, such as during Halloween they had a 'vampire' inspired ice cream with actual pork blood in it (or some other animal blood). Sometimes the flavors are a bit gimmicky, such as that vampire flavor, but I'm constantly impressed with their desire to push the barrier on creativity. Centered in the Arts District, expect to pay or spend a long time searching for parking on evenings. The ice cream portions are decent sized, and prices are a bit higher than other places (from my perspective). Occasionally they have live music playing, and the place has an overall good vibe. Speaking as bluntly as possible, this place, and the Arts District in general, embodies the epitome of "hipster", both in good and bad ways. Embrace the inner hipster in you and come down to try some really impressive and great tasting ice cream! I recommend trying it at least once!

I literally got off my plane, checked into the hotel, and then took a Lyft to get my favorite ice cream. I used to go to the shop in Portland and when I heard there was one close to my hotel in LA, I had to go. They did not disappoint. The service here is impeccable. Friendly, courteous, and helpful from the moment you step in. There was a bit of a line at 7:45pm due to a large group that came in before me, but the line went very quickly. I was able to sample a few flavors I hadn't had before and settled on the limited edition Horchata and Almond Brittle. Both were spectacular. One thing I love is that you can split a scoop (making one scoop into 2 flavors [half scoop of each]). I want to give a huge shout out to the crew. When I told them I had come straight from the airport from New York they were so genuinely excited. They also accommodated my request for a large cup with a lid so I could get back in my Lyft and not worry about spilling my ice cream in the car. Definitely go to this place!

(It's so much easier to discover places when you're walking rather than driving in traffic trying to watch the road at the same time). I checked out 4 gourmet ice cream shops, starting off at 2nd & Hill and zigzagging down to 5th Street, Broadway, Spring, Main, and back up to 3rd & Traction, Salt & Straw being the last on my list. This place is hands-down absolutely the best ice-cream I think I've ever had in my entire life! Seriously divine! Extremely flavorful!! I got a split scoop with Wildflower Honey with Ricotta Walnut Lace Cookies, which is seasonal and you have to try it before they switch to a new flavor of the month. Plus I got one of their top sellers, Sea Salt Caramel Ribbons. It was insanely good! Another delicious and unusual flavor is Black Olive Brittle Goat Cheese. If you prefer mundane everyday boring vanilla chocolate strawberry pistachio standards, this is not your place. If you crave amazing flavor combinations, you have to check this place out :-)

Great little ice-cream parlour in the Arts District of DTLA, offering a wide variety of innovative and unusual flavours. At the time of writing, the specials board included the peculiar, but delightful peanut butter & pickles - a crisp cucumber flavour accented with a sweet and sour note, and a nutty background aroma. Quite magnificent. The more standard flavours are equally great - the salted caramel ribbons being a particular favourite. You get a lot of ice-cream for your money, and the quality is exceptional. Staff are also very friendly, smiling, helpful, knowledgeable... And never shy of offering tasters of any flavour you wish! This location also benefits from being a little less busy than the one at Abbott Kinney.

I really like this location and the Renaissance District it is located in. It's very close to Union Station and pretty much across the street from Little Tokyo. I really recommend walking around the area and it is pretty safe at night. I do wish that the restaurant had more seating (THEY HAVE NEXT TO NONE). This has actually stopped me from coming by a few times. The sparse seating is occupied about anytime you go. However, the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their product.
