The server/cashier is so awesome! So friendly and generous and seems know what we want before we ask for it. Ice cream is wonderful. Brownies were excellent. Soft serve is also great. The clouds in the ceiling are cool! The other decor is a bit scary to me but it's cool.

This place is so cute and ice cream was so delicious! By far the best local ice cream in town! Definitely a must try. Got ourselves some strawberry and cherry ice cream and its bomb! atmosphere is hands down! Loved the Animal Farm inspired decorations and mural. Will come by again next time!

My friends and I went to get ice cream. After we walked in, we were treated with delicious mini brownies. The decorations are fun and creepy. The server/cashier (Seth) was wonderful. Ice cream was unbeatable. Overall, I like the place. It’s a cool place to hangout with friends.

Always decked out for every season/ reason/ holiday in elaborate decorations with decadent ice cream to match. Come for the full fat and full flavor treats but stay for the fantastic atmosphere. The friendliest staff ever, consistently, and they you offer samples while you stare drooling at the multitude of delicious frozen options. Love ❤️ # Halloween, Election Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter. So cool that they do the variety of themes! It really is so well put together and takes so much time and consideration.

I got roped in to going here by some friends 4 years ago. I forgot how amazing the service is when I came back to meet up with a friend. I was offered a sample brownie (that was very welcomed by my chocoholic tastebuds.) And a sample soft serve all while exploring the menu to make my order. At this point once you get your order, who needs dinner? After your order alot of big chain ice cream shops are quick to forget about you, but they continue to come around with cold water for you. And of course the ice cream is tasty, and I would say just right. If you've had Oberweis before you've probably found it very rich. So much so that it is overwhelming. I think the ice cream here is right on the mark, hits the spot juuuuust right. It's Edgebrook so parking in general can be tough but if you're lucky parking is available right around the corner. One last thing, bring your cash, they are cash only.

Ice cream shopping can be fun! Products here are delicious. We found ourselves come back every summer for more. The flavors can be creative and fun! They offer a mix of traditional, creative, or funky flavors. One thing for sure, they are never boring! We feel like kids got into a candy shop again.

I went tonight with a friend cause she wanted some ice cream but I didn't get anything. This guy comes out with brownie samples and offers me a glass of water...he seems to be a genuinely nice dude so if this is not his business (cause he looks young) I hope they're treating him right. This place has a lot of personality and great costumer service! Solid 5 stars.

Perfect find. We were driving until we came upon an open ice cream shop (that was actually the plan), and so glad we found this one. Great selection of flavors, the variety of coated waffle cones was amazing. And the service was above and beyond! The decor was fun too! I visited a year later to pick up some sherbert. They had great options, like Orange, Electric Watermelon, and Passion Fruit. They also changed up all the decorations.

Whomever hates on this place is just looking for a complaint. Place is strange and different. I'm not sure if it's the owner or just an employee, but both times I've been he always greets warmly. Even stopped what he was doing to wave as we walked in. Great tasting ice cream, great portions and price, well ain't thrifty ice cream but for the service, ambiance and experience, worth it. I will be back more and spread the word.

The best about this place is the staff, every time I go over there they guy that works there offer us free samples of chocolate or brownies, when we are eating our ice cream he just get to our table without asking and bring us some water and ask in a really kind way how's everything! Best Ice Cream shop in the Chicago-land area... been a fan for 5+years. First the ambiance is like no other shop, it's decorated from floor to ceiling and it's changed every few months. They offer complementary cups of water and mini orange soft serve. They are cash only so come prepared. 2nd, the staff has always been exceptional, they deal with hundreds of patrons a day and not once have I felt tension or had unpleasant experience from anyone. And lastly their ice cream is the most delicious ever...better than any store bought brands. There is 0 judgement if you want to try all 30+of their flavors, they have options for everyone (Gelato and dairy free). Their house waffle cones are too good..everything is just amazing here, just go!

So I came here for the first time and this is a very unique place.They had festive decorations and there service was excellent.I do want to especially give praise to Edward who really was a joy and a breath of fresh air to the meaning of customer service!! Love this ice cream shop! Clearly it’s been awhile since we were there as I forgot they cash only! Good news...don’t fret if you show up empty handed like I did, they have an ATM right by front door! Their decor inside can’t be beat and ice cream was delicious! They have a huge selection of hand dipped cones as well. And if Fido is with you, he will love their vanilla soft serve! This place is fantastic. It’s more a destination than an ice cream shop! Every time we go ice cream is fantastic but the changing decor & vibe is over the top! Last night we were there & great music was playing into the street, disco ball spinning & magic fluffy clouds & sparkly lighting filled the room. Great staff was hustling like crazy to serve but also pass out free samples of the cutest mini cones & their AMAZING brownies plus passing out free ice waters to all the patrons. helpful attitudes while clearly working really hard. Great outdoor seating too! While the pandemic left many places short staffed & surly somehow this place has managed to get even better.

Great service! They were friendly and gave us several ice cream samples. The Rocky Road was excellent, but the decorations in the store (left over from Halloween) were even better--really inventive and well done. This is one of the best ice cream shops in Chicago, they do it right.

We just moved to the neighborhood a couple months ago and decided to try this place out. I came in with my wife and 2 year old twins. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with brownies and just amazing service. Now it was time to try the ice cream. The gentleman recommended caramel sea salt with cashews (I forgot the name) and it was delicious. I took a scoop of that while my wife loved the cotton candy flavor. I was going to get a scoop for the toddlers but the gentleman there handed them mini soft serve cones. What an awesome place. This will be our new favorite spot as along as we live here.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!!! Not only is their ice cream DELICIOUS, the service is amazing! I’ve never been to an ice cream shop thinking I would be blown away by how nice the staff is! Charlotte was the only one working, and upon arriving, she offered my husband and I a sample of a cone. It was really good! (Orange and vanilla soft serve) I didn’t realize the place was cash only and after ordering, I was 11 cents short. Charlotte said this gives you a reason to come back again and you can pay the rest next time! My husband and I were so happy and grateful. We sat outside to enjoy the weather and eat ice cream. While we sat outside, Charlotte came out and said ice cream makes you thirsty and handed us 2 glasses of water! I was just amazed. One thing after another, the atmosphere the service, the ice cream- everything was so good. This is my new go to place!!! Do yourself a favor, and check this place out!!!! There’s so many varieties (dairy free/ etc) of ice cream and flavors. They do have an ATM if you don’t have cash, but definitely worth going to! Support a local business!

Great experience! Two friends and I stopped by for a late night indulgence. We were met with amazing customer service, spectacular decor, and delicious ice cream. Their waffle bowls are legendary, and the samples flow freely. Tyson was the counter staff, and he was perfect. Great customer service, incredibly dedicated to helping us find the flavor we want. Must have eaten 9 or 10 samples without barely asking! I would mention to my friend "wow ____ sounds amazing!" And before I could even ask for a sample, he would hand me a sample of the flavor I was curious of. Prices were more than your local dairy Queen, but the quality and selection of product more than justifies the price difference. Forget dairy Queen, this place is the cats pajamas. Highly recommend to anyone in the area, local, or visiting from out of town like myself. Winter or summer check it out.

This creatively decorated ice cream shop in commercial stretch of Edgebrook is a cool place that also happens to be one of the few places in Chicago that carries Chocolate Shoppe ice cream from Madison, WI. Despite its coolness, there are couple of minuses - one, it is cash only. I would have spent more had they accepted other means of payment. But having ATM by the entrance isn’t necessarily the best option for customers. Two, being an ice cream place, one would not expect the sound level of music to be comparable to that of sport bars. But it is challenging to carry a conversation at times because the music is simply too loud. At the end, it is a great place to visit during a hot summer night when you can sit out.

This place is so trippie cool. I compared it to a basking robins on mushrooms. It's a must try! Yesterday we were on our way to another ice cream shop when we saw this corner. When we made it to the place we were going, we actually turned back to go in here. The decorations are super different unlike any other icecream spot I have visited. The girl server on the pm shift that evening, offered us samples and a mini cupcake. She let us sample the ice creams without asking that was a nice touch. Once we had our desserts and ate them, she came around with waters and I was simply amazed by this place. Will be back!

This place was trippy, in an awesome way! All decked out for Halloween (including staff), when we started looking at ice cream flavors, the young man begins the counter just silently started handing us ice cream taster after taster. It was all delicious. Unique flavours, fun toppings and coated cones, old school ice cream parlor overlaid with modern surrealism. Generous helpings too!

Wacky outrageous decor, funky music on the radio and staff members that love putting joy in people’s hearts! It’s the kind of place you would have seen on PBS’ Wild Chicago back in day. How’s the ice cream? Well Ice Cream Shoppe is renowned for quality in the Midwest and these guys have by far the largest selection. Over 40 flavors to choose from at any one time. Importantly they carry a lot of DAIRY ALTERNATIVE options. I love the soy vanilla chocolate chip. They also make some of the most decadent brownies I’ve ever had. Nobody is left out of the fun! Also amazeballs is that they hand out ice water to customers to go with their deserts. Get over here, escape from it all and SMILE!

Ice cream is okay (nothing extraordinary) and pricey for what you get, paid over $25 for a couple of scoops and a sundae, I've paid way less in other ice cream shops like "La Michoacana" and "Village Creamery" among others that serves to my taste similar or better ice cream.

This is the best ice cream I have ever had. So fresh and flavorful. There are plenty of choices for ice cream flavors. There is definitely something for everyone. My daughter has an extream dairy allergy is able to enjoy the dairy free ice cream and this was the reason we picked this shop. Plus there are just so many different types of ice cream cones. It's perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth. They are so friendly and accommodating. While in line we were greeted and they brought out samples and water. One of the best little nooks in the city.

This place is always so yummy! Ice cream flavors are unique, creamy, and full of flavor! The inside is always decorated so cute and with a cool theme! The colors are always awesome and it's so fun to go in here and see what the new theme is and how the shop is decorated. I came here tonight with my sister and we got the Fat Elvis flavor and Peanut Butter Hearts Chocolate flavor ice cream and it did not disappoint. The employees were super friendly to us and handed out plenty of samples for customers to try - samples are always a plus! An employee came around too with cups of ice water for all of the customers. Staff is great here and treats their customers great! Overall we love this place; it is definitely a very unique and tasty ice cream shop that is different than your standard, cookie cutter place. I highly recommend this place to everyone for a tasty treat!

I'm in love!!! It's so difficult to find vegan ice cream in an ice cream parlor and this place truly delivers. Fantastic choices and yes, I said choices!! This is a unique ice cream shop. They have tons of flavors and options. But the environment is artistically spectacular with unique things to look at and ponder while the kiddos get an ice cream fix. Excellent place for ice cream! The staff is extraordinary, ALWAYS going above and beyond. Staff members come outside with cups of water for everyone. They have free samples of the ice cream and even some baked goodies! It's clean inside. Great place for dessert even late, they are open til 11pm.

This place is incredibly unique. There are tons of options not only for ice cream flavors but cones, toppings and type of treat. The staff is speedy and personal, even when packed, and you can sample as many types as you want before choosing. The decor reminds me of an old fashioned disco roller rink (in the best way) and seating is plentiful. Cash only but there is an ATM on site. Kids and dogs line up and hang out on all the outdoor seating too. One of my favorite places.

As usual, ice cream variety and flavor were very good. Prices are fairly steep ($7+ for two scoops in a cup...). Ambience leaves a lot to be desired, too. Not sure what the deal is with the whole zombie theme, especially around the holidays???? And it would be perfectly fine to turn the tunes down a notch; have to shout to order. Can't imagine what it would be like to work there all day...

Fun ice cream shop. We've been to 2 other locations in Wisconsin. The ice cream is very light and tasty. Lots of flavors to choose from. They change their decoration-theme monthly almost to match that months holidays. The only complain would be, compared to up north locations, these guys have their prices a bit high. We got 2 kid sizes bowls, and 2 one scoop adult bowl, and the total was $20 bucks. Other than that, I would highly recommend visiting this place :)

The service is always really great and they always have plenty of samples when it's hard to decide on just one. I've noticed that they have quite a few ready made ice cream cakes and they make custom ice cream cakes too. I keep intending to get one for the next birthday. Their staff was really understanding and gave us a receipt and asked us to come back and pay but don't worry and enjoy the ice cream with family. VEGAN FRIENDLY!! I went to this fine establishment with an unfortunate bearing that there would not be any dairy-free options. To my ultimate delight, the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream not only carries many dairy/soy-free flavors, but they also carry vegan friendly desserts too! They had a chocolate chip cookie, brownie, and red velvet cookie, I believe. The team member, Tyson, was extremely accommodating and did mind me sampling multiple flavors, going out of his way to get tubs of ice cream from the back for a tasting. He was very friendly and kind, and gave my family and I a great experience. The vegan flavors were delicious, and I cannot wait to come here again. Thank you, Tyson!

It's always a party at the Chocolate Shoppe! The unabashedly progressive political decor themes mix with a fantasy landscape of disco lights and rock n roll. In the summer, the party spills out onto the street till 11 PM, where ample beach chairs are staged as if on the oceanfront. Did I mention the strolling servers offering free samples? I've been here a few times. I get that it's cute, and possibly the only mom and pop shop ice cream shop in town so it's popular with local families. I love supporting local businesses especially when the staff is friendly and accommodating, but it's definitely pricey. For two kid cones in simple cake cones it was almost $9 (and I always make sure to add a tip for good service so I spent $12) and it's cash only. The closest atm has a $4 atm charge. So for a family of 4, plan on spending at LEAST $20 on ice cream for the most basic order so definitely plan ahead.

The Chocolate Shoppe is a long-time staple for the neighborhood. Differences between this and other places? Tent-like interior that gets re-painted every season with various messages for one. It's never dull. Beyond that, Zanzibar chocolate and other flavors of amazing ice cream. Open year-round, they have outdoors seating in the summer. Nice crew members who give out samples and tiny cones as you are trying to decide. It's a fun place for good ice cream. Prices are comparable to Oberweis but they give more ice cream in more flavors. Godlike. The Mad World vibe made my 9/11 Conspiracy heart feel at home. The ice cream was absolutely top notch, as was their customer service(the free samples made the many eyed angels blow trumpets of ecstasy into my mouth ears) But most importantly they had a small but diverse enough selection of dairy free options that help a Lactose Intolerant Lad like myself feel noticed in this dark dairy world of ours. Just went there tonight. There was a really sweet girl and a guy named Matt, both went far beyond to satisfy and were very polite. AWESOME ice cream flavors, I got a banana split, and girlfriend got a oreo and m&m dipped cone, super delicious. Didn't realize it was cash only and only had a card, and she let us eat beforehand before paying so my girlfriend could run to an ATM. Also they have an awesome sound system and a retro setup inside. If you hadn't try Chocolate Custered ice cream, this is the place. They have this Orange Sickle Ice Cream like the gum when I was a kid chewing on, and Apple Pie Crisp Ice cream. Out of this world. It's been here since 1970. He has a dairy farm where he produces the ice cresm. CASH ONLY.
