We reached out to Michael & Sons to have some electric run for a built-in under-cabinet wine fridge in our kitchen. Fortunately Joshua was able to come out for a same-day estimate and scheduled work for just a few days later. He was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and left the space tidy after he was finished. We will definitely keep him in mind for any future projects in our home

Contacted Michael and Son for general plumbing and pipe repair in a location that had very difficult access. One of their highly experienced plumbers, Eric Blackmon, called and asked to see if he could come early. I was overjoyed as our water supply had to be turned off. Erick immediately assessed the situation and briefed me on some of the complexities and how he planned to proceed with the repairs. He kept me completely informed of his progress and asked me to inspect the project when completed. He was very knowledgeable and shared some of that with me. He then asked if I needed any other repairs work and then made some expert suggestions of other potential problems that I should keep my eye on. This was a very friendly approach with no pressure applied - information only, and I appreciate that. I will certainly ask for him for any future plumbing needs. George 04/09/2022

Michael & Sons was very responsive and organized when I called about my leaking water line. But the best part of the experience was the skilled plumber they send out, Carlos Carcamo. Carlos was prompt, professional, and he really went the extra mile to explain the issue and walk me through exactly the best way to repair the leak and prevent it from happening again. I did appreciate that he presented several options at different price points, with pros/cons. He was super careful about my home, donning mask and booties and cleaning up carefully as he worked. Cheerful, energetic, diligent, efficient—I will choose Michael & Son again, and will request Carlos by name.

Michael and Sons do spectacular work. I have unfortunately needed urgent repairs in my house twice recently and both times Michael and sons have been prompt, professional and reasonably priced. Recently we had Bill do some plumbing work for us and he was able to get work done the same day. Also, Bill walked us through what he was doing and why to make sure we understood exactly what we were paying for. I would recommend Michael and Sons anytime and I will continue to use them for my home care projects.

My experience with Michael & Son was great. I was able to easily call and make an appointment the same week for an estimate. Joshua was very responsive and answered all my questions (and I had a lot!) without complaint. Scheduled an appointment online on Sunday night, and had a helpful professional available the next day. I needed a replacement instead of a repair, but Carlos C was able to take care of the job immediately. He was very courteous, explained the problem, and offered me a couple of options to address it. While it wasn’t inexpensive to take care of the leak, it was worth it to me to have it fixed quickly and with perfect results. I’d definitely use their services again in future. Many thanks!

My installation pro Dat Nguyen was very professional and hard working and did a great job, even doing a bit of extra work (at no additional charge) to correct a previous installation error. I had a pipe that burst in the wall and water was leaking through the ceiling into my kitchen. I called Michael & Sons at 8:00 pm on a Friday night and they sent Daryl to my house within the hour. Daryl was very knowledgeable and explained what the problem was. He repaired the leak and the pipe and advised us as to what to do next. He was very professional and followed all COVID protocols. Pricing was very reasonable, especially considering this was an emergency call. I will continue to use and recommend Michael & Sons.

Though I found their fees quite high years ago, they are pretty reasonable now for the service you receive. I have called Michael & Sons to work on two different properties in two different NOVA locations for me in 2022. In both cases they were able to schedule an electrician to make a service call the very next day In each case, they arrived on time, kept me informed as they worked, respected me and my home, worked quickly & competently, and billed a very reasonable price. I have nothing but total satisfaction, high praise, & strong recommendations for them. Michael & Sons has well earned the #1 spot as my go to electricians. The electrician in a bit of courteous low pressure up selling at payment settling time, informed me that his company also does plumbing, HVAC, & complete remodeling (bath, kitchen, basement). Because my properties are aging, I have had occasion to have had others do projects for each of these services. Given the excellence of their electrical work, I will definitely be giving them a try for other trades work & remodeling projects over the coming years.

Truly the best!! We arrived on Thanksgiving at noon time to my father’s house who is 90 years old to find water in the basement with a leaking hot water heater. We called Michael and Sons and they arrived within 2 hours to replace the hot water heater in time for us to still have our family Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you!! The Plumber that came out was great. Knew his stuff. Was personable and did a quality job. However, I should have shopped around before agreeing to have them do the repairs. For a 3” drain repair, it cost $2200.00. The materials used in this would be around $60.00 with the standard markups, material should have been no more than $150.00. This means that I pad roughly $500.00 an hour for the work to be completed. I will not be using Michael and Sons again solely for the fact that the prices are outrageous. I know they are saying that you pay for the experience, but that is just theft in my book. I mean $350.00 to set a toilet when it is part of the job?

I see these trucks on the road all of the time so I decided to give them some business. I checked the reviews online and it all looked good. I needed immediate attention for a clogged pipe on a Friday evening. Called a couple of other places to see who could get to me first and not charge an arm and a leg just to dispatch a technician.($69 and if the work gets done it goes into the cost of the service) Michael and Son’s immediately booked an appointment for me early Saturday morning and gave a me a nice small window. 8:00-10:30am. Normally you either get a 4 or 6 hour window and your sitting at home all day. Saturday morning I receive a text with my tech’s picture and information an estimated time he would arrive. I also received a call from the tech when he was 15 minutes out. So far everything is clicking on all cylinders, this is what I call good service. Once he arrived he had on booties, a mask, and protective gloves. James was very personable and we shared a few laughs and he joked with me a little too. He explained everything and told me how much it would be according to his iPad. He offered me tips on how to keep the line clear and I bought some bio clean from him. He was in and out in an hour after snaking my line. I was still able to keep my plans and enjoy the day with my family. Top notch!! Job well done and this is how all businesses should be.

David arrived on time, quickly identified the problem, and even when the extra mile and made sure all the connections were good on the circuit having the issue. I recently needed to have the water valves for the washing machine replaced (the existing one had rusted) and to replace the old chrome pipes under the kitchen sink. While Daryl was here doing those repairs, I asked him about the faucet in the bathroom. Daryl used his iPad to locate a new faucet, then returned the next day with the new (much improved)faucet that he installed and then thoroughly checked to ensure it was operating properly. From start to finish, Daryl kept me apprised of his arrival times, showed me everything he had replaced, put booties on to cover his shoes, and most importantly, was always professional, courteous, calm, patient, and had a great sense of humor!

We have been using Michael and sons for so many of our home needs since we bought our house 20 years ago. They have installed everything from installing our hot water heater to our HVAC system to doing multiple repairs on our plumbing. Recently. We had a pipe burst and they had a technician out first thing in the morning and despite it being a difficult job because of where it was located in our basement he got everything taken care of quickly and very professionally. They are a bit pricier than some others in our area, but the service and commitment to backing up their work is better than any I've seen. We will continue to use them for all types of home services for as long as we live in this area.

We called around 8:30 pm on a Thursday night and were told the tech would arrive between 9 and midnight. Fabulous since the main water shut off valve was leaking at a rather heavy rate and we were constantly emptying the container. The tech (Hyo) showed up around 10, quickly diagnosed the problem and told us the fix would be about and hour to an hour and a half. This man ran and worked hard the entire time he was in our house. He worked so quickly, was communicative, and finished at the quoted price and earlier than expected. Great service when we desperately needed it!

The three hour window same day service was huge especially before Christmas! I have used M&S on numerous occasions and have overall been very happy with services, until this past visit with a toilet repair. I knew the washer was loose/leaking and made that known when the guy came to the house - but of course, I do not know what additional fixes need to be made with porcelain. He agreed it was the washer and stated the charge was $498 which was very high in my opinion, but again, not knowing what exactly needed to be done, I agreed to have the washer fixed. He showed me a one page document that goes over his verbal estimate which I am very used to, I signed. When he completed it, he told me it was fixed AND that he changed my gasket and knob - I looked very perplexed, why did you change those parts that were working and I did not mention nor did he mention in the process? I paid the bill and continued to investigate. Apparently, M&S always requests to change those parts regardless of if they need fixing or not - BUT the difference is, this guy said nothing about it. For my basement toilet, the guy went over with me the differences between GOOD BETTER and BEST and explained to me why I needed the gasket etc changed and I agreed. But I did not get that here and feel very bamboozled using a swindlers sales pitch. I would NOT have agreed to have that changed and he SHOULD have not only discussed that with me, but showed me the other page that was actually available on the estimate - it's not just the right to perform service. I called for a manager and the CSR requested to hear the story - the only word that came from his mouth was OK. Dead silence - no apologies or that he was going to talk to a manager, etc. I then had to tell him that I wanted this to be escalated for knowledge purposes - he said managers are only available by email and that I would get one by tomorrow. Understandably, managers get busy so I was not expecting much of a response in the first few days - but then I get another invoice from them yesterday! I will consider using them in the future as my fault was signing an estimate displayed as a right to do work, but I will also be looking for other companies. I do not like bad practices as they have exercised here.

Purchased the home care program 1.5 years ago which helps save a bit of money and provides regular inspections and priority access to talk with schedulers. I have always been able to get service as soon as I needed it whether same day or next day. The repair folks are timely, courteous, and COVID-safe. In addition they are knowledgeable without being judgmental and take time to weight the pros and cons of different repairs with you. I've never felt upsold.

Ilich Landaverde was great. We had a water heater breaker trip and wouldn’t reset. By the time he came the wire was working and the breaker reset. I was worried that there was damage to the wire. There had been another contractor working in our basement. He meticulously inspected every inch of the wire going bay to bay. About 20 feet from the breaker box he found the problem. A nail from the recent carpentry work from another contractor had pierced the wire. Someone not as careful and professional would have not been as diligent. That nail caused a short circuit once and if we had continued to run power through the circuit could have caused a fire. He potentially saved my house and family!!

He had to deal with some very bad choices - and half finished jobs - of a TaskRabbit contractor I’d used to replace a bathroom vanity sink/faucet, and walked me through each step in the process of how to backtrack and correct all the problems without spending too much money. After scheduling a visit over one month in advance, the technician came and left without contacting me. I had to reach out to customer support a few times in order to get someone to come back out the following week. After arriving for the second appointment, the technician told me that my unit was too old for them to service and that they don't do repairs to begin with. At that point I wasn't sure why they didn't ask me a few more qualifying questions about my unit when setting up the appointment originally. The cherry on top was that even though it took over a month to schedule the maintenance/repair visit, a sales representative was available later that week to give me a quote for a brand new system. Overall, I would find an alternative HVAC group that takes a bit more of their time assessing the issue and can offer a possible fix.

Recently I’ve had a ton of issues that all started with some birds in my dryer vent (it is almost laughable at this time). It led to a series of events in which I wound up replacing my stacked washer dryer unit that was located in a small closet. After having the delivery attempted, I was advised that due to a cracked drain pan, they could not deliver the replacement, would not remove the old unit, and I would have to have the drain pain replaced first by a plumber (later it was indicated that typically another department handles these issues, and I’m still not sure who the correct department, etc is). I contacted two companies before contacting Michael and Son (one I have a home care agreement with, and the other manages jobs for the HOA) both of which declined to assist. With Michael and Son, the customer service rep that answered the phone was kind and reassured me that they could handle the job. I explained the situation to her, and she arranged for two plumbing technicians to come to my aid. They sent the greatest guys, Michael Madrid and Carlos Carcamo. Not only did these guys remain patient despite my distress, but they went above and beyond to make sure the project was complete and everything was in place for the delivery of my new machine. I’m so grateful for the awesome job they did and their professionalism through the entire process. Highly recommend them both as well as Michael and Son.

We had an excellent experience with Bill from Michael and Sons! We found a water stain on our kitchen ceiling indicating a pipe or drain leak from behind the drywall. We were expecting a very expensive repair since it was behind drywall and no obvious signs of a leak from the bathroom above our kitchen. Bill arrived right on time at the start of the appointment window that we were given. Bill took the time to carefully look at all the possibilities of a leak. I was quite relieved when Bill said he would look at all options before tearing up the drywall. I had expected that drywall smashing was going to be the first thing a plumber would do. After several minutes of inspecting all the second floor bathrooms he told us he was very confident that he found the source of the leak. The Master bathroom shower drain was quite clogged up even though water was still draining. As he explained to me, shower liners under the floor tile also have a drain that works in conjunction with the shower drain and even if the water does drain from the shower floor, the poor draining action can cause a leak around the tile liner. He was very frank about telling me that in his 30 year experience this was by far the most likely source of the leak and it would not be in our best interest of time and especially money to tear up drywall before trying this simple yet most likely solution first. That was so honest and refreshing to see a Bill and Michael and Sons put their customers first when he knew full well I would not have been any the wiser if he said an expensive repair would be necessary. Bill then spent a good 20 to 30 minutes going around our home answering all our questions about our home plumbing and HVAC. He even found a quick easy solution to a leaky outdoor faucet bib. There is a line freeze safety feature that keeps the faucet from freezing in the winter time. There was simply a small little O ring that slipped out of place and Bill simply slid it back in place free of charge. It only took him 30 seconds to do that but we are now loyal customers of Bill and Michael and Sons. Bill is a wonderful, honest and fair guy. We read many reviews before hiring Michael and Sons. The reviews are accurate and we are grateful to leave Michael and Sons an excellent review.

I've often used Michael & Son Services for large heating, A/C and plumbing jobs - usually the regular maintenance gigs like replacing my water heater and HVAC system. I also have an annual maintenance program with them which covers the heating and cooling system, plus electric and plumbing work. Michael & Sons has done my furnace installation and electrical panel upgrade as well as regular maintenance on my A/C and heating. They are always professional and are mostly on time. They could be a little better about cleaning up after themselves but it’s not a huge complaint since they do a good job on the actual project at hand. There are small things I wish they would be more clear about such as they won’t be patching the square they cut out of my wall to work on the electrical panel so I have to find someone to do that as I’m not handy myself. They’re not the cheapest service but they’re not the most expensive and most of their services have a pretty good warranty that’s included.

All appeared to be the same except for the warranty on labor and cost. One company had a 30 day warranty (not!). One company offered me a 6 year product warranty for more than the Michael and Son 10 year product warranty. I selected Michael and Son because their warranty was the longest and Cesar was very professional and explained everything. The water heater was installed in short order and I don't have to worry about my basement flooding. Thank you Cesar

Michael and Sons came highly recommended but we have sadly had a string of problems on our water main replacement. We failed the first inspection after the team filled in the hole before inspectors arrived, so they had to come back and tear up the yard all over again. We failed the second inspection because the inspector needed access to the interior of the house, while Michael & Sons had told us that was not necessary so we weren't at home to let anyone in. They also cut a wire to an exterior light while digging in the yard. To their credit they did fix that after we pointed it out to them, but it was disturbing that they didn't acknowledge it and initially just buried a live electrical wire in the front yard. UPDATE: After the setbacks, Michael and Sons came through. Ultimately the work was well done and the inspection passed. The yard took a big beating after two digs, but there's not much they could do about that. Everything is working well!

The technician, Axel Hernandez from Michael and Sons conducted a prescheduled electrical inspection of the house. He actually arrived before the scheduled time and was very professional. He conducted a thorough inspection and asked if I would like to accompany him through the rooms. He took pictures and at the end of his inspection took the time to sit down, go over the pictures, and discuss his high-level recommendations......AND he provided a reason behind his recommendations. He said he would provide a more detailed list of recommendations (line items and pricing) in an email which I had received by the time I got back to my house. There was never any high-pressure sales....it was simply put as things that I should consider now, things that I should consider within the next year, and things that I should consider over the next couple of years. It is technicians like this that open doors for future opportunities for the company. This inspection came as part of a larger yearly maintenance contract, but I highly recommend it, especially if Mr Hernandez is part of the team!

We found all the employees to be helpful and professional from the first technician, Ibrahim, who was unable to complete the repair (through no fault of his own) to Maurice in customer service, to the site engineer, Edwin, he sent to our home the following day and finally the two-man installation team of Glenn and Gabriel. Michael & Son expedited our work order since we had been without A/C for over a week. Gabriel arrived first, the next day and worked independently until Glenn arrived, then as a team when he did. I watched both men work throughout the day and was very pleased and satisfied with their professionalism, skill, and knowledge. It was obvious that Michael & Son had invested well in their employees. I was especially satisfied with their responses to my questions and their willingness to return to their facility to exchange filters when the site engineer had ordered the wrong size. Meanwhile, Gabriel finished the installation and cleanup and then spent extra time teaching me how to use the new hi-tech thermostat with an extra sensor. All-in-all, I continue to trust in Michael & Son and recommend them for any job they are trained and staffed to do. Michael & Son truly lives up to it’s motto, “If you can’t we can.”

Great work! Bad customer service! 4 Stars for the Technicians, 1 to 3 Stars for Customer Service (Scroll to the end.) Michael & Son sent a highly skilled technician who repaired our garbage disposal quickly and efficiently. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. A real plus when using them is that Michael & Son waives their dispatch fee, if they perform any work. This is a deal breaker, as another company (we stopped using) charges a dispatch fee of over $100 on top of the repair/service cost. We are very satisfied return customers, regarding the work performed. However... we give only 1 to 3 Stars for Customer Service. Some of the female customer service representatives for Michael & Son are the worst on the planet. They must be part of an answering service, and not direct employees. One sighed into the phone like she was bored, and was abrupt, and impatient. Some have actually been argumentative. This happened during 2 out of 4 different calls, between December 1-6/2021, with two different representatives. One lady was very patient and nice, when I first scheduled the above appointment... another was nice and helpful toward the end of the call, when scheduling an electrical repair. However, two were down right horrible when I wanted to change appointment times for the electrical repair and get an estimate for an in home humidifier. Whew! Management needs to counsel their customer service employees on how to react if they don’t like customers making changes to scheduling. That, or hire another answering service! In addition... We would to work with Michael & Son, again, regarding repairs or maintenance, but their salesmen tend to quote prices that are far too high for new equipment.

I have only high praise for Ben Batochir. He did excellent work installing and re-directing pipes leading from the sump pump in my basement to the outdoors. It was not an easy job but he accomplished it with professionalism and a commitment to making sure the new piping system fixed the problem for the long run. I appreciated him taking the time to explain what my options were prior to deciding to proceed with the project. I know that as a customer, one does not always have the option of selecting which Michael & Son technician to come to one’s aid, but I do my utmost to request Mr. Batochir to service my request, though I hope I won’t have a need for any more plumbing services for some time to come!

We had our own ideas about how we wanted our install to be done, and Kofi introduced an idea that we had not considered. We went with his recommendation, and we are extremely pleased with his work. He stated possible issues and work that might need to be done up front so I wouldn’t be surprised. He completed the work quickly and was able to avoid any additional fees or work! The plumbing was done by another company in 2017, but Lawrence was able to work around it and fix it regardless!!

Good work and the technician was knowledgeable. Ridiculous price though. I supplied the water heater (they would have charged me 3x what I paid for it), but the labor rate basically came to $400/hour for 4 hours of work to include two throw valves and two small copper pipe, that they gouged me on as well. No choice at that point, needed the work done but they know when the got the upper hand and capitalize. The previous company quoted less but tried to sell me unnecessary parts so I turned them down (which still would have been cheaper). Update 9/7/2021: contacted Maurice to discuss (as requested). He offered a discount, which we agreed he would apply to another service that was needed. Second service was performed, technician did a good job (yet no discount was offered or known about by technician). Cost was once again ridiculous but I agreed as Maurice had offered a discount. Technician tried to contact Maurice at initial evaluation appointment and during installation, with no success. I have tried to contact Maurice as well with no success as well. I have called twice and left messages a week ago. Update 9/8/21: contacted Maurice and offered a discount as promised on the second service (approximately 10%). Stated that it would take 7-10 business days for refund. I appreciate the consideration.

I had a concern with my backup house generator not starting during the weekly exercise test. Mr. Larry Greene was the Service technician. Upon arrival he was in uniform and respectful when I answered the door. After troubleshooting the generator Mr. Greene was patient explaining what had to be done to the generator to move forward and to get it running. The price was very fair for the 2 days the job took to break up the old concrete utility sink and run all new lines and shut off valves. Troy was very respectful and did a phenomenal job. We are very happy with the final product in our home and will use them again for future work.

Darwin arrived within the scheduled time frame, alerting me about 15 minutes before he arrived. He was friendly and polite, listened to my request and answered my questions. As the new light was a different shape and smaller than the old one, he pointed out that it would leave some unpainted areas exposed and wanted to ensure I realized that before proceeding. He cleaned up the area where he worked and assured me the old light fixture would be recycled if I wanted him to take it. I highly recommend Darwin and this company.

The technician “ Landaverde “ arrived on time and was very professional. I told him up front that I thought I had two bad breakers, but he explain to me that the cost to replace two breakers would be more than him troubleshooting the problem. Michael & Son do good work. And I'd definitely call them again. But I don't know if I'd call them first. I do not believe they have a military discount either. The work that they do is good, but the reason I wouldn't call them is because they're a bit on the expensive side. And they look for work while completing the job. I understand if something has to be done, but there is a difference between it having to be done with urgency and trying to make an extra dollar. Being upfront and not dramatizing potential jobs is what gets follow up business.
