What a smooth ride this was! From the beginning of the contract with Robert Smith to when the last piece of scrap material was picked up, everything went great. Jayden, Trey and K'Shawn were the installers and arrived in a timely manner each morning and worked till late every afternoon. They cleaned behind themselves every day. The only way you knew they had been there was the pile of scrap on a tarp towards back of yard. At the end of the week, it was gone also and MSCO was like it was never there. EXCEPT! They left behind a great quality of work. Thank you to all that had their hands in making this mess of a job AWESOME!

I had my entire home system replaced with MSCO a few months ago. Service and price from the beginning was by far the best of all the other companies I shopped. Robert wasn’t the pushy salesperson like the others I experience elsewhere. He took the time to educate and explain things while doing an estimate and in the end was able to provide a much better rated system at a much better price than anywhere else! The installation team was great! All were very professional, kept things clean, and completely the install quickly. MSCO sent out Rick and he was a great technician! He was very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and considerate of our home and needs. He provided feedback and useful information regarding the system, and thoroughly checked our unit to ensure it was working properly. Rick spend a good amount of time in the attic doing the diagnostics and assessment of the unit, ducts and filters, as well as cleaning the fan unit outside and checking the mechanical components. All in all, very satisfied with the maintenance service and reassuring that they will come back to check it periodically to ensure everything is running as it should! MSCO is the way to go for the quality and the price!

These guys are great! I have separate systems for upstairs and downstairs. They replaced my upstairs system in November. I had several quotes, spoke with a few different companies. There's was fair, the sales guy explained and walked me through everything step by step, and the installation was very thorough and professional. There were a couple of hiccups, but they came out promptly and made it right. Then, this weekend, my downstairs unit went out. I called this morning, they were here this afternoon, and now my A/C is working perfectly. And, they even read my mind and got my downstairs unit on the same maintenance plan as my upstairs. I very much appreciate it. I've been having one of those "when it rains it pours" kinda months when it comes to appliances. It's nice to know that this is one less thing that I have to worry about.

6/2022 I had this company come out to fix my air as it was not working. The motor was broken but the repair mechanic that was there called to see if any rep had this motor being that I am pregnant. Tech was thorough and displayed quite a knowledge of his job and the system. Hence though a part had failed he was able to jury rig the wiring to restore cooling to an elderly couple. We need MSCO to follow thru now with correct replacement board. I called since my downstairs unit was not working with temperature at 54 degrees. My service call was responded in person within 1&1/2 hours on Sunday by Leon who was extremely polite and concise in describing what my issue would be. He mentioned right off that my inducer was quite loud which indicated it could be going bad. He suggested turn off the emergency gas switch in the house and back on. We did it several times to ensure the furnace came on and stay on which it did. He punted out the age of the unit and also the wires to clean that connects to the flames. He suggested a call from MSCO to come out with a free estimate on a new furnace. He made me feel comfortable in explaining one simple ways in which the furnace worked. In a stressful situation, he made the situation a comforting and pleasant experience. I would definitely consider MSCO for my next furnace needs. Thank you Leon.

The price made me gulp but is an excellent example of what happens when government involves itself with the private sector. There is a small wear spot in copper line within the outside unit causing slow Freon leak. Government regulations have driven the price of freon into the stratosphere! MSCO installed the system new, “a top quality Trane system) 11 years ago and the want me to sign an acknowledgement the I understand they don’t recommend repairing systems over 11 years old which I don't consider as good support of what was represented as a top of the line, product. That said, they were on time and the technician was very cordial.

My wife and I came home late, around 8:30, on a Saturday evening to find that our home registered a temperature of 85 degrees. The temperature outside was still in the 80's. I called MSCO and got their emergency service and mentioned our problem. She said that she would contact a service manager. Rick called back within minutes. He worked with me for a few minutes to determine the severity of the problem and plan a resolution. Because it was late, we decided (at my request) that he would send a mechanic to my house at noon the next day. My wife and I have a separate mini-split ac in another room. The mechanic, Tommy, stopped by promptly at noon and was able to repair the system. Pam and I want to acknowledge Tommy for the work he had to do under extreme circumstances. Our home was still registering 85 degrees when Tommy arrived. Our HVAC system is located in the attic above the second floor. He worked continuously for the next 2 and a half hours to complete the job. He had to take a couple of breaks because the heat in the attic registered over 100+ degrees. We kept him as comfortable as possible with lots of water and cool wash towels. We are so grateful for the dedication and prompt service that Tommy, Rick and MSCO provided to us. We've been with MSCO for over 25+ years and they have always been there for us.

Update 5/28/21 - Time for our Spring maintenance visit! We were pleased to see our service technician was Mike for this visit too. We received the same excellent service as described in my previous review. All systems, including the new air purifying unit, were functioning well and performing within normal limits. We will be requesting Mike for all future maintenance and/or repair visits. ——————————————————— Our service technician (Mike) arrived on time and had donned the appropriate [CDC recommended] protective gear before entering our home. He was friendly, polite, and professional. He completed a thorough inspection of our system, discovering a leaking capacitor in the A/C unit. We requested he replace the faulty part and he was able to do that during this maintenance visit, saving us the cost of a service call and likely downtime in the future. He also shared information about a new air purifying system MSCO offers. We had recently considered adding a system like he was describing so we asked him to proceed with installation of the Plasma-Pure Treatment System. I will update this review at a future date with our assessment of the new system. We’ve been customers of MSCO for almost 20 years and have always been satisfied and pleased with their professionalism, skill, and customer service. I never hesitate to recommend them to family, friends, and neighbors.

Our old system was on its last leg. We already knew through family who used this company that they were professional and did quality work. Robert set us up and gave us all the options, never once trying to oversell us on something we didn’t need. We had a couple of the nicest guys I’ve met do the install, Tom and Eric. They made sure we still had air even during mid installation because we work from home. They did an excellent job with installation. There was one day we needed window units, and we discovered we would probably need another. Robert went out of his way to find us another rolling unit and dropped it off himself at 7pm at night. This is the best experience I have had with service in my adult life.

The entire experience from the maintenance tech identifying the issue to sales and installation was outstanding. The tech did not try and complete work for the sake of completing work for us to ultimately have to replace the unit. The sales manager throughly walked us through our options, and how each option could provide comfort with no added sales pressure, to Mary accommodating our schedule to install the equipment, and lastly to the two techs who came out and completed the installation, treated our home as if it were their home and were very respectful. I also want to mention that our AC was not working and our salesperson worked with us to figure out an option to provide us AC at the lowest possible cost without wasting money and resources. The entire experience was much more than what I expected and certainly why we’ve been a customer for over 16 years.

After sourcing multiple bids to replace my HVAC unit and vents, these were the only people I felt 100% comfortable doing to the work. Robert inspected my HVAC system talked me through everything he saw as well as the defects in my old ventilation system structural integrity. Explained exactly what my house needed based on the size and the reason for it. After the work started, Tom and Trey worked on the install of my new HVAC unit and vents for the house. They were extremely professional and knowledgeable and once again furthered my feeling of being comfortable with the work being done on my house. Just had another excellent experience with MSCO and their technician Leon. I've been using MSCO for years with positive results. They are always punctual, friendly, explain everything they are doing, and clean up after themselves. I have used them for two (2) new HVAC system installs in the past 3 years, and use them for routine maintenance twice a year at two different properties. I have not had a requirement for emergency service yet, but if I do, I trust they will be there and probably have the parts I need on their truck.

I have been on their maintenance program since they first started it. They are not cheap. I have thought about going elsewhere but their employees and their service are so good I think they are worth the extra cost.

Technician Rick did an outstanding job of completing my annual service check, correcting minor problems and cleaning my system prior to the summer season. What impressed me most is that he took the time to point out other issues in my attic (loose fitting at the hot water heater) and even outside (water spigot leaking) and fixed both on his own since they were easy fixes. I’ve been trying for a week to get someone to come out and fix my AC. I placed a call to MSCO Mechanical at 1:12 pm and had a service tech at my door @ 5:15 pm. Unfortunately my AC unit was froze up so he couldn’t repair it. He did write up a work order explaining exactly what needed to be done and the cost. I will be contacted tomorrow to be put back on the schedule. This tech was very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company for this type of work.. The office staff, the manager and this tech were all very friendly and accommodating.

Had a Friday night AC shutdown. I called MSCO Saturday am and had a return call by David the technician in 10 minutes. He communicated with me and let me know throughout the morning and early afternoon where I was at in line to be serviced. Once he arrived he went right to work and diagnosed issue ASAP and had the part to fix it on the spot!! It is nice to see this standard of service still exists!! David inspected the outside condenser, refrigerant supply/return lines and the air handler. Within an hour he found the problem and replaced the faulty part. The price was fair, and best of all, he didn't push anything I didn't need. MSCO will be the first and only AC repair company I call when this old system breaks again.

Tommy and his able assistant, Ryan, were outstanding in their customer service and interaction with me. When they arrived I had three items of concern to bring to their attention. One had to do with the recent e-mail sent out by MSCO, which addressed two surge protectors that had been recalled. Fortunately, I did not have these on my two units. The second had to do with what I thought was a premature cut-out of one unit's fan run cycles. They found that problem and corrected it by tightening a semi-loose wire connection. The final issue concerned a duct connecting to one of my floor registers had fallen off/separated from the main trunk duct line underneath the house. It was discovered last week by my annual termite inspector. Tommy and Ryan promptly re-attached the duct, so I was no longer heating my crawl space! Hurrah! :>) Both men were respectful of my home's living spaces careful not to bring in any debris. They both were true professionals. They deserve a special kudos/shout out for their excellent work.

About a year ago, we had a terrible noise coming from our furnace in the garage. Our next door neighbor highly recommended another one of our neighbors who lives down the street who works for Mechanical Services Company (MSCO) and gave me his number. I contacted Robert Smith and he came over that same day to take a look. Come to find out, there were mice (now deceased) that had been caught in the fan blades of the furnace blower unit which created an unbalanced fan wheel, thus making the horrible noise we were hearing. Robert took everything apart, cleared out the mice carcasses and cleaned up our furnace. I asked him how much I owed him and he told me, “Just keep me in mind for future repairs or a new system.” We were impressed! Fast forward to earlier this spring when we had the short heat wave. We discovered our outside AC unit wasn’t working. I called Robert on a Friday afternoon and he showed up Saturday morning to take a look. Unfortunately, the news wasn’t good. The condenser unit in the attic had a hole in the line and all of the Freon had leaked out. Our furnace and AC units were original to the house (20+ years old) and we knew they weren’t as efficient as newer models. We also had issues with ducting in the attic (the builder did not size or route them properly to evenly heat and cool the house). I asked Robert to give us a quote for a new unit and also to redo the duct work in the attic. Robert explained the benefits of each system level they provide (all of their systems are Trane models) and went over all of the pricing and options so that we could make the best choice for our needs. The other great thing about working with Robert and MSCO was, they offered 36-month ZERO % financing for our new system, which made upgrading to a new system a much more attractive choice. Our job was scheduled about 7 days out and Robert even delivered and installed two portable AC units to help keep our rooms cool until the new system could be installed. MSCO installed our new system about a month ago, and I can’t begin to tell you how pleased we are with it! MSCO sent out two installers who were extremely professional, knowledgeable and courteous (one of them told me he had been installing systems for MSCO for 23 years). The installers spent an entire week at our house, primarily installing the meticulous ducting system in the attic. They cleaned up any mess they made as it occurred and they were always respectful of being in someone’s house (no loud music, bad language, etc.). On the last day, the installers walked us through the thermostat operating/programming procedures and also showed me how to replace the air filter, which is now a large slide-out filter mounted to the side of the furnace and only needs replacing once a year. The new system is whisper-quiet and the entire house stays at an even temperature now. If you’re having heating or AC issues, I highly recommend giving Robert Smith and MSCO a call.

Moved to Virginia Beach 4 years ago. Old system wasn’t maintaining the temperature. I had 3 estimates and chose MSCO. They replaced my entire system and have supported the system through contracts for three years. I had initially wanted a humidifier installed. However, during the install they found I had water pipes that were not suitable to use. When they told me that the humidifier could not be installed they would refund my money. The refund was deposited In my bank before the close of business that day. In addition the holes that were created to install humidifier were repaired.

Compliments to Jim in the Service Department and Keith Bailey who performed his magic. Last Friday late afternoon (around 4:45pm) my AC was about 10 degrees higher than it should be. I checked the unit outside and the pipes were frozen. I called MSCO because I had used them before. The receptionist Belinda answered and was VERY pleasant. She transferred me to Jim in Service. After I explained the problem, he instructed me to turn off the AC but keep the fan going. He told me I would receive a call when their technician was on his way. He estimated 6-8pm. At 5:30 only a half hour from my initial call, Keith contacted me to say he was on his way. Once here he handed me his card, put on booties and headed for the attic to inspect the unit. He identified that my unit was low on refrigerant. He put in a pound and explained everything he was doing so my comfort level was very high. Once done, he filled out my information about what he found, what service he performed and told me the price. It was lower than I had experienced from other companies in the past when I had the same problem. I recommend MSCO to anyone that is in need of HVAC repair or service. MSCO installed a new HVAC system in our home, five or six years ago, to replace a badly deteriorated and cobbled-together Frankenstein's monster of elderly inefficient equipment. Two new heat pumps plus air handlers and new ducts for the downstairs unit. An expensive upgrade, to be sure, but MSCO helped arrange low-interest financing, which further streamlined the process. Their installation crew was fast, efficient, polite, and – most importantly – thorough. As promised, we saw a dramatic decrease in utility costs, especially during the hottest and coldest months of the year, plus it's been much easier to regulate temperatures inside our home. The only issue we've had was a blown capacitor in one of the heat pumps within a year or two after installation. The replacement part was covered under warranty but we had to wait several days for installation as the part was on backorder from the manufacturer – a situation beyond MSCO's control. They kept in contact with us and, when the capacitor arrived, they promptly scheduled an appointment to install it. We've continued to have MSCO's technicians make twice-yearly service calls to maintain our heat pumps and air handlers; all of their employees have provided the same excellent service and attention to detail that we witnessed during system installation. Office staff are great too – extremely organized, polite, and communicative whenever there's been a need to reschedule an appointment. If I could award MSCO six, instead of five, stars, I'd do that!

First time I ever used MSCO. I had to pay a one time fee of $89 just for the mechanic to come out! Thought that was a ridiculous amount. The mechanic checked out my unit that was outside. He also went in the attic and said I would need a new fan up there. Nothing else was done. Tomorrow morning I will see the salesman from MSCO who will tell me what the price for a new Trane unit will be. The mechanic said a new Trane unit would start at $6,000. So here I sit in my home where the inside temperature is 83! I will submit another review after I talk to the salesman. UPDATE: Today August 8, 2019 I saw the Consultant Travis from MSCO. He was very personable and explained all options and prices for a new Trane Unit. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions! Picked out the unit I wanted and it will be installed in about a week. He installed a window AC unit in our bedroom free of charge until the unit is installed! Travis also checked out our attic for all the parts up there. He was extremely thorough! Very pleased with MSCO and especially the Consultant Travis! By the way, the $89 I was charged when the mechanic came out a week ago, Travis gave me $89 credit on the new unit I'm buying! I was very excited about that! Very pleased with MSCO! Glad that I chose them! Really great company!

I think I have sent in a review for this year when Mechanical Services come last late spring. Have been using Mechanical Services for many many years & also have referred other neighbors who will ask me “who works on your HAVC system”? Who ever comes to my place, nothing but excellent work is completed & the techs wear shoe covers that help from tracking in debris inside my home. Also the techs I have had will make notice of other pending issues such as condensation seems to be collecting on our AC duct works which explains why we had spots on our master bedroom ceiling but did not show up as a leaking top floor roof leak. The condensation during the summer eventually dripped on the insulation & dampen the ceiling dry wall with very small spotting. The fact being I would not have been able to find out what was going on in our attic if the tech that was checking the AC only in the attic had not mentioned about what he saw. Later on there was another condo that had showed the same problems. My only issue is about using google as an access to send in a work completed survey. Another good point about Mechanical Services is that management (either Travis or his dad) moved in to the 21st century & have hired women techs. I had one of these ladies come to do a season check & she was as good as the men. Thanks for your time & maybe make the survey application easier for us “baby boomers so you can get all the good comments your field techs deserve. I have used MSC for new installs for my primary home and my rental property plus a new water heater and their work is great. My first experience 14 years ago was in getting new estimates do redo my primary house to something more energy efficient than the builders grade stuff we had. I went with MSC because of the 5 estimates we got they were the only one who did not say we needed new returns added, a new refrigerant line ran, or new duct work with electronic dampers. I simply replaced the condenser and air handler/furnace. I use them for semiannual maintenance as well.
