From the receptionist to the technician, I had a great experience. Donnelly's was offering a $59 service fee which beat all the other companies I contacted. I was able to have someone come out three days after I called which was nice. Evan was my technician and he was great. Evan worked quickly and was able to explain to me exactly what the issues were with my heating system. I would definitely use Donnelly's again! PS: Thanks for making your technicians wear shoe coverings. I greatly appreciate it!

Service Request: Drain Clearing 12/01/2022 Top-notch outfit. My call for service was returned within an hour, with the service tech arriving on location within 2 hours. David was able to quickly ascertain the situation, and got straight to work. Not only did he fix the problem quickly, but also explained what was going on and what to expect. Called the company at noon and asked if I could set up an appointment. They said they’d have someone out that afternoon between 2 and 3 o’clock! Brett showed up at 2:30 in a fully equipped truck. Looked at the problem and gave me a couple of options. Was able to remove the remnants of the clean out plug and ran the snake through the pipe clearing the clog in a timely manner and reasonable cost. Brett was a very courteous young man and seems to really enjoy his work! Would not hesitate to use him again.

Tyler was great! The whole experience was great. We had a non working shower piece and the technician was great. He was professional in his assessment, his presentation and his performance. His recommendations were spot on and we approved the work to be completed. A field supervisor, Nick Lenzi, stopped in to check on the job. He too was professional and personable. Donnelly’s replaced my old water heater when it started leaking during the holidays. Derrik the technician advised on a new system that was more energy efficient that combines a smaller tank with a tankless booster system to provide higher capacity than the old larger tank system. He also installed additional protection to ensure no more flooding. Everything was done in one afternoon, very professionally.

Our entire ais system was replace along with thermostat and a hot water heater. They were prompt, courteous and removed the old systems and installed the new and we're in and out in 6 hours. Overall an extremely pleasant experience and would recommend to others. Had a a plumbing issue with low pressure/flow throughout the house. Received a text of expected arrival followed by a text with name and a photo of my technician (David Gamber). He called and arrived early and immediately went about diagnosing the issue and presented me with the cost to replace the defective part. Determined it was the pressure relief valve, had the parts on the truck and completed the replacement. He then did a thorough check of the plumbing systems and made some recommendations to consider in the future. Overall one of the best interactions with a service person in quite some time.

All went as described with no issues. They took great care to protect my wood floors and carpet throughout which I really appreciated. Upon completion, David instructed me on use of my new thermostat (he is a patient teacher!) and we looked over the new AC unit which looked great. I had issues with a toilet and the repairman quickly identified the problem and set about making the repair. The repairman was on time and professional, he was respectful of my home and maintained a clean and neat repair area in my bathroom, he made recommendations but was not overly pushy. Plumbing issues in general are always more expensive than I think they will be but I believe Donnelly's is fair and in line with market values. And they give coupons to repeat customers!

Dylan, the technician who came to our home to fix some plumbing issues in our showers, was so patient and thorough in diagnosing the problems and explaining how he was fixing them. Also appreciated: having a live person answer the phone when we called, getting a next-day appointment, and having the problem fixed in that same appointment. Very professional, we'd use them again!

Scheduling was easy and fast - someone came out the same day to diagnose and also to measure for installation. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and knowledgeable. The weather on the day of the HVAC installation was drizzling rain and the employees tracked mud into the basement. It took hours to cleanup after they left. The installation was just completed so I cannot say much about the quality of the work but they do offer a 10 year warranty on parts & labor.

I have to amend a less than stellar review I wrote about a week ago for Donnellys. I was having an issue with a tankless water heater they installed and after discussing the problems, why they most likely happened and possible solutions with Joe, they really went above and beyond my expectations to resolve my issue. Their workmanship was never a problem for me, just the appliance itself and the way they explained why it failed was eye opening and understandable. My water heater was leaking at the bottom a couple days before New Year’s Eve. I went online and found Donnelly’s Heating Cooling and Plumbing and requested someone to take a look. I accidently selected a date a week out. Donnelly called me this morning and wanted to confirm if I wanted to have someone come out sooner, which I was appreciative of. My serviceman was Joe Madden. I got a call and a text 25 minutes before his arrival. Joe was able to diagnose what was causing the leaking. Unfortunately, the water heater needed to be replaced. Joe was able to provide me several options regarding water heater model and Donnelly’s planned maintenance program. Joe was professional, courteous and clean. He wore booties, laid covering so as to not get the carpet dirty and cleaned up after the job was completed. He answered any questions that I had and provided. I’m incredibly pleased with Joe and Donnelly’s service and would highly recommend if you have any heating, cooling or plumbing issues.

Update 11/18/22 : Alicia from Donnelly's called me a day after. I explained my concerns about the refrigerant refill been charged even higher than national average. She patiently explained the process and the variants. As a goodwill gesture she refunded $130 off the bill. For the prompt customer service and their intent to earn your repeat business I have changed the rating. The original suggestion still stands. Do your research or a simple Google search before you sign off on anything for anybody. My heater wasn't working. The technician came in on time. Said there is a possible leak and refrigerant was low. To fill up would be $653 flat for 3lb. I admit I have no knowledge of what this was and I assumed even if they overcharge it won't be ridiculously high. Made the payment. He waived the truck fee. But there is no way of knowing whether all of the 3 lb was needed . Spoke to a few other hvac companies and neighbors later on and they all said it was way above average even factoring in the labor.Most companies do a flat for the first pound and then lower price for whatever extra is needed. I did call to ask about the bill, still waiting. So do your research before signing off on their quote. My ignorance cost me.

5 stars for the Donnellys team for diagnosing an ongoing problem with our central a/c that our previous contractor was unable to do so after using them for 7 years. John O’Hara promptly diagnosed the problem our previous contractor could not. Joe Albert was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in recommending a replacement system and giving us options. On our install day Brandon arrived on time with a crew of 5, with David and Keith doing a great job of finishing the install. We were up and running by early afternoon. We were working with another company who was screwing us around for 2 days, never fixed anything, and left us with no water for that time with two young children. Heater stopped working this morning right before the temperature was about to plummet. Called three companies and Donnelly was able to come out soonest, so I went with them and they arrived in about 4 hours or so. That’s was great. They told us upfront who would be coming with a picture and name, which was also nice. Brian, our technician, was very polite, respectful of our home, and described what he was doing as he worked. When he gave me the price of $400 I was a little shocked. It was about twice what I was expecting, but I was in no position, with temperatures in the single digits tomorrow, to shop around. I did offer to run to the store and buy the part (HOT SURFACE IGNITOR AMANA) myself if he didn’t have it in the truck. I wish I had that opportunity. After telling a family member about the $341 + $59 HVAC eval, they criticized the price and said it sounds like I had been ripped off. I made the unfortunate decision to google the part only to find out that they tend to sell for $25-$55 with $75 being the absolute most expensive. Knowing that they likely get better prices that what’s online through their supplier I’m confident I just paid a markup 5-10 times the real amount. It was a 100 min visit so I factor in a good amount of labor being in that price I guess but I still don’t feel great about that price. Many companies will take off the diagnostic price if you do the suggested work with them, but they didn’t. I would’ve also liked to see the receipt a little more itemized with the price of the part and the price of installation. I honestly would have dropped $1000 to get the heat back on, so I really didn’t have a chance. There was no wiggle room for me, I needed it fixed asap. I may shop around more next time if I have that luxury and expect high prices. Great service but tough prices to live with. I wish I never looked. No one wants to think you’ve been overcharged for anything.

When my heat gave out, I called Donnelly and they were here inside of an hour. Dontae, the service tech, checked my system and determined that my 22 year old system had reached its end. I agreed in a unit and today 3 professional young men installed my new heat/ac unit, again, very professional, neat, and a job well done. Kept me informed the whole way and explained everything to me after it was all said and done. I wish I could say it was inexpensive, but I selected a 90+% efficiency, so I'm comfortable with the cost and especially the work. 10 year warranty is peace of mind. Highly recommend Donnelly hvac.

My service was provided by Josh. He came out and got my heat running again. He was fantastic and answered my questions flawlessly. Someone I felt I could trust in my home without me monitoring them. Very happy with him and the companies product. Update: heat was running but my 20 year old unit decided to die again. Got a quick estimate and the price was comparable to other companies. Had my unit installed today. Financing was easy. Jake came out with another guy to do the install and it was a full day. But credit to them for working through the downpour to get the install done. System is running smooth and my air is cold once again. Very satisfied with the business and the accommodations made by Donnelly's to not rip me off. While we were having our HVAC system replaced a couple of weeks ago it was discovered that our 4-year-old water heater was leaking. Not wanting to risk damage to the new system just installed we called the company who installed the existing heater. Frustratingly, despite follow-up we didn't receive a response back. That weekend the leak looked a little worse so I panicked (a little) and called Donnelly's - Sara was so helpful when I called, and within TWO HOURS (on a Saturday!) Joe Madden was on the scene. The gas to my house had been cut off due to a leak. The servicemen who came out went above and beyond to fix the problem and to work around the gas company who, if you’ve ever had to deal with them, is a challenge (to say the least). They did an excellent job on the repairs. I needed a heater repair and re-piping for the gas lines and even the guy from the gas company voiced what a great job they did when he came out to hook my gas back up. The service guys were polite, professional and willing to work with me in coordinating with the gas company. My gas had been cut off for a week, and the weather was still cold and my 92 year old mom lives with us. Keeping her warm was a challenge. The dispatcher from Donnelly called to see if I needed any space heaters while I waited for the part to come in to fix my heater. I highly recommend Donnelly!

Communicated via the phone prior to arrival to be sure he had all the correct information required to address my issues which were basically malfunctioning toilets. Turns out one of my toilets cannot be repaired as parts are no longer available. He gave me a price on a new toilet (ouch!) and is also searching for the correct flapper which he may have located. Obtaining that flapper may give my toilet more years for survival! He will contact me when he has it in hand. I did not have the replacement toilet installed but having said that, I feel this company is responsive, listens and is reasonable as far as service calls are concerned. PS.. I don’t know why or how my non profit (Chesapeake Fishing Shanty Conservancy) is listed here as the recipient of these services since it was a personal service call for my residence. Had a plumbing emergency two days in a row and they responded immediately both times. When the first quick fix didn’t hold, they came back to do a full drainage pipe replacement the next day. Response times were good and they had all the parts available immediately. Service guys were communicative and thorough, and even helped scrub up some mess from earlier leaks. We had a very sudden and very messy main sewer line backup. Our house was built pre-1970s when a main line cleanup pipe was not mandatory for homes making it pretty difficult for a DIY job. We contacted 5 plumbers, all of which either deferred our request or promised to send people out that never showed up. We finally found Donnelly’s and what a massive difference!!! We explained the issue we were having and they promised to call us back within the hour with a confirmation - they called back very soon after letting us know a tech would be out within an hour and sure enough, they arrived well within their window. Our technician, Joe M. was incredible - he was polite, courteous, and friendly. Most importantly he was very thorough and did not leave until he was certain every faucet, toilet, and sink were running properly. He was easily one of the best plumbing technicians I have ever dealt with. The quote he provided prior to working on the issue ended up being exactly what we were charged for which was perfect as you can hear horror stories of surprise charges out there. He completed his work very efficiently and when he left everything was in perfect working order. I cannot recommend Donnelly’s and Joe enough and they’ve certainly earned a lifetime customer here!

My technician was very helpful with my HVAC problem. The part was covered under warranty so that was a relief. He was also helpful in helping me identify a plumbing problem that will need to be addressed. The only problem I had on today's visit, it that it always seems they try to upsell you on an item you may or may not need. My unit is 2 years old and he said the manufacturer recommends adding a hard start kit to the unit. I then asked if they recommend it then the cost should be covered correct? Nope, it was going to cost me $203. Against my better judgment I aggred to the add on.

The service and coordination are fantastic. Joe, the tech who showed up, was courteous, on-time, and clearly explained the two possibilities of the issue. I had water backing up into the dishwasher and wasn't sure where it was coming from. What I was unhappy about was there was no guarantee of the fix and that Donnelly's does not handle dishwashers. I would have liked to have known that before hand. I had clearly told them the problem before I made an appointment. I would have expected them to at least tell me that before I scheduled my appointment which has a minimum $99 visit charge. I ended up paying over $180 for what should hopefully fix the problem, but no guarantee as the problem could be the dishwasher. Given the number of years of experience Donnelly's has, a few simple questions would have likely helped them determine that they might not have been the best fit for this job and allowed me to call folks who would service the dishwasher as well. 10/28/22 - Brian Tapper came for a rescheduled annual maintenance check of my HVAC - heating system. Brian was very professional and did a wonderful service to my unit. Very nice technician. I wish I could say the same thing to the dispatching and scheduling dept of Donnelly. The original appointment was suppose to be 10/21/22 but they cancelled me on the same day due to an emergency as they said. I called 4 days later only to find out that they were rescheduling me to December. I asked why that much later and no explanation. I requested to talk to the supervisor and next thing you know, they found a slot for me today, 10/28/22. And I am in the Goldstar Service Plan paying them monthly under the contract. This was not the first time they cancelled me on the day of the service. Sorry to say because I like Donnelly so much that they did a lot of work on my house. Technicians are good and nice but scheduling and dispatching is awful. I hope they fix this problem because it is very discouraging and a big blot on the company.

Saturday morning, our basement ejector pump stopped working and without getting too disgusting, the "sewage" in the pit started backing up through the basement shower stall. I called Donnelly's and actually got someone on the phone almost immediately!! I explained the situation and literally within 1/2 hour, technician Bobby Burkle was on his way. As Bobby entered the house, he immediately put on a pair of disposable booties so as to not track any dirt into our home. This was not necessary as far as I was concerned but nonetheless very much appreciated. Nice sign of professionalism. Bobby diagnosed the problem (the ejector pump was dead) and told me he would schedule the repair for his second stop on Monday, probably early afternoon. The only reason he couldn't do the repair Saturday was because they do not carry ejector pumps in their trucks and he would have to get one from their distributor on Monday. A couple of text reminders and a couple of phone calls (one from Bobby) on Monday and he was on his way even earlier than anticipated. Bobby and another guy Rob did the repair in less than 2 hours, our basement septic system was up and running again and they were on their way. In this day and age of frustrating voice message call centers, lousy customer service and parts and repair delays, Bobby Burkle, Rob and the team at Donnelly's truly shine. Professionalism, expertise and stellar customer service. Highly recommended especially if you have an emergency situation. Thank you Bobby, thank you Rob and thank you Donnelly's!!

NEW TOILET INSTALLED Scheduled online appointment on Sunday after noticing leaking from side of the toilet at ground level. John called first thing Monday morning to provide ETA. I needed long-overdue service on my heat pump and a check of my air conditioning. Shane found an immediate leak in the furnace and it was obvious to me that something needed major repair. He saw that I have a gas hookup that was never used; everything is electric. I asked about making the switch to gas and Shane said it would be more cost-efficient. I decided that this was the time to do it. Shane was professional and explained everything to me. He made the necessary calls to set up the gas line check, for which I was grateful (I'm not that patient!). I had a very positive experience with Shane and hope to have my new gas heating system soon. Jake and Brandon arrived on time to replace my electric HVAC system and install a new thermostat. They needed to wait for a PECO technician to install a gas meter. Once that was done, they spent from 7 a.m. until about 6:30 p.m. removing and installing the new system. The installation required adding electrical, working with a radon system, and I'm sure other things to make it all work smoothly. I appreciated the work that they did and especially the fact that they alerted me to a faint gas smell in my garage as they were leaving. I have allergies and had a hard time noticing it. It turned out that there was a leak and PECO fixed it. My thanks to Donnelly's-Shane, Jake and Brandon-for helping my life to be energy-efficient and safer.

We had a emergency hot water heater need after my wife discovered the unit looked like it was about to explode. I called Donnellys and Morgan picked up the phone to help. She was awesome! Courteous and very eager to get me help. She sent Brian, the technician, out to my house to help us out. When Brian arrived he was very professional and got right to work. He walked me through everything that was causing an issue and explained in detail what work he could do to remedy the issue. Once he assessed everything, he provided a price that was in line with what I expected and also did what he could to save me money with their comfort protection plan. 2016-Wow, Prompt, courteous, professional techs. Had to replace a well pressure tank because of age. Tom came out to diagnose a short cycling well pump. Tank, pressure switch and gauge had to be replaced. Cliff brought out the tank and the job was done quickly and neatly. Will be using these guys and Donnelly plumbing whenever we need a plumber. Very professional. 2022- Prompt, courteous, professional tech. Had to replace a well pressure tank because of age and was leaking. Derrick came out to diagnose a leaky pressure tank. Tank had to be replaced. Derrick brought out the tank and the job was done quickly and neatly. I was given 3 options of repair and after talking with the "boss" we opted for the one we felt most comfortable with. Very professional. Who'd thought that these tanks are only good for 5-7 years. The new tank that Derrick put in has a plastic bottom and elbow and should not leak there. Hopefully this will last longer too. Thanks to Derrick and Donnelly Plumbing. Another 5 stars for Donnelly.

Had Donnelly’s out once two years ago for an AC that wasn’t functioning. When the tech arrived, he got it started up without doing much and couldn’t figure out what had caused it to shut down. Because of this, he didn’t charge me a dime. Fast forward two years later and the same thing happens. Another tech came out and was very thorough in showing me damage on the inside of my unit and walking me through my options of possible fixes and replacement. We ended up deciding on replacement. They came four days later for the full replacement. The installers were very professional. Drop cloths down, boot coverings, etc. They left everything very clean and neat. They walked me through the new unit and showed me how to operate the new smart thermostat that was included. Overall I would definitely use Donnelly’s again. They have a ten year warranty on labor as well as parts (many places had a much lower labor warranty). I’ll definitely have them out for annual inspections/maintenance and would recommend them to anyone.

Pros: The service was great! The technician that came out, Matt Bryman, when he walked into my house, immediately put shoe coverings on to respect my house. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, and a Master Plumber, so he knew his stuff. He even took a little extra time to explain little things to a layman like me. Con: I had an appointment for a leaking water shut off valve for a Friday, and the dispatcher called me to reschedule for Monday later in the day. They also charge a $99 dollar fee to just come out. Even if the price was to high! However, it was added into the final total along with a $50 dollar discount card, so I guess it all evens out in the end. I highly recommend Donnelly solely on the knowledge and courtesy of their workers!

First visit did not result in the the problem being resolved because the cause of the problem could not be definitively ascertained , so rather than charge us for repair that might not fix the problem, it was left to see if the water company replacing the meter would work. We were not charged anything and appreciated not taking a hit or miss approach. Water company came, it was not the water meter. A different plumber was sent upon our request whose name was Derrick, and he felt strongly he knew what was wrong, It was a defective dual in-line check valve. He replaced it, and the problem was solved. Very pleased with the result and the professionalism and customer service provided.

The first technician from Donnelly's installed Aprilaire 600 Manual in a way that the bypass humidifier would have water running even when heating is in pause mode. After I complained about it, the technician called me back over the phone, and it was not resolved. Then Donnelly's sent another technician who came with Aprilaire 600 automatic humidistat. He was kind, and explained to us our options. We decided to keep 600 Manual and let the technician wire it so that when blower stops the humidifier would also stop. That way, we can set humidity level at 38% without worry. It all worked and was free of charge. The second technician was great.
