Our furnace went out unexpectedly last night on one of the coldest nights so far this season. I called Schwantes early in the morning and Joe came a lot quicker than expected, 2 hours after I initially called. He recognized the issue right away, explained to me what he was doing along the way, and had it fixed in 30 minutes. He also gave me tips on how to maintain our furnace and what I will need to do for the future. I plan to use this company again. Joe was knowledgeable and great to work with. I didn't feel like I was being worked over like with some other technical service companies.

We've been using Schwantes for some time, after having been very disappointed with other HVAC companies servicing and installing our furnace and AC units. We had an AC unit installed about a month ago and I can only say how pleased I was with the entire process. We received a quote back in 2019, and asked to have it updated. The price was very fair (I received an estimate from 1 other company as well). Pat, the technician who installed the unit was clearly proficient and knowledgeable with a good deal of experience, the installation was done in less than half a day. Our salesperson, Tim, was extremely helpful in explaining the technical questions I was asking as I was comparing two different quotes - really great to work with. All in all, we have used Schwantes for servicing our furnace and AC units in the past and installing our more recent AC unit. Exceptional experience - I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Our overhead garage furnace wasn't lighting properly. I called and was able to get a technician out the next morning. He was there on time, quickly diagnosed the problem, and fixed it. Excellent service. Our furnace had been on it's last leg for a few months. It started to go out during a nasty December cold snap. Schwantes had a service tech look at our furnace within 2 hours of calling. We ended up needing a new heating system that was installed a few hours later the same day! Furnace broke down and they came out 1/2 hour later at regular price, diagnosed the problem, came back the next morning and made 2 repairs and purged the system. Explained everything he was doing and answered all my questions. I have a hydronic heating system and they know how to fix it as well as forced air. Great piece of mind. Will definitely use them all the time. Just be prepared to pay, they are not inexpensive.

I see they've upgraded to an answering service instead of expecting Stacy to answer phones at odd hours - which is the only time HVAC systems decide to stop working. It promptly paged Rockne who arrived the same morning. He assessed the misbehaving furnace, quickly determined the culprit was the blower motor AND 1) Suggested that he'd get the motor and come back to install it on Monday, 50% less cost than on the weekend; 2) Discovered that the motor was still under warranty - which I would not have remembered - and saved me over $800! Moreover, he put up with me AND my cats, whose fur probably caused the problem in the first place. Absolutely, the most competent service company I've ever used!!

We hired Schwantes last fall to replace our furnace. Their bid was very competitive and their service was top-notch. When we accepted the bid, they were able to book us for replacement with very little delay. The installers were on-time, very courteous, and were careful to keep our home clean throughout the process. Once the new furnace was in, their installers took the time to make sure we knew how to maintain and operate our new furnace. They also made sure we took advantage of our utility company rebates and handled the permit process for us. This spring, our A/C unit failed. Schwantes was able to provide us with another competitive bid to replace that unit. They got us scheduled for the install in just a couple days and we were back in service! Again, the installers were on-time, courteous, and careful to keep our home clean. They also took appropriate safety precautions to protect our family and themselves from COVID-19 while they were in and out of our home. I can't recommend Schwantes strongly enough. They have been dependable, professional, and always do exactly what they say they will do -- all at a very competitive prices.

Update 9/8/2022: Rock arrived to perform the annual furnace checkup. Such a helpful guy as he walked me through how to check for error messages on the furnace and when is the absolute time to change the filter, and why. We have worked with Schwantes for many years now for annual service checks and the occasional service call. Always a good experience. They answer the phone right away, are friendly, knowledgeable, and all the service techs have been great. Another great experience with Schwantes Heating & Air; Chris (technician) came out to tune up the AC and found a mouse nest inside! The mouse had chewed through 2 lines and we would have been out of having AC had we not called for a tune up. Chris quickly replaced the wires and we are good to go. With the heat index going over 100 degrees this week, it would have been awful to have the AC go out because of that mouse. Thanks, Chris, for your professionalism and saving us from an immediate repair issue! We also remembered that Chris was the person who put in our original system years ago.

My furnace went out and they were incredibly responsive and sent out a very knowledgeable tech quickly. I ended up needing a furnace replacement. They were able to install it the same day. I'm giving 4 instead of 5 because they are definitely not the cheapest option. But I also recognize that there's value in response time and professionalism. If you're in a jam, they're a 5 star option. If you have more time, I would get a few more bids.

I could not find the Heating and Air company that installed my whole-house air and furnace 8 years ago. I contacted Schwantes and had the distinct pleasure of speaking with Stacy. First of all, I had her on the phone 15 minutes, which was already 40 minutes into time AFTER the her office was closed. Stacy was patient and asked questions to help clarify my issue with the AC. She advised she would call me early in the AM the next day.with info from a Tech or possibly info about the original installer. She did just that. I had already found the company that last serviced my system, THANKS to Stacy's advice and outstanding customer service. I was very impressed with the knowledge level of everyone at Schwantes! When my A/C didn't start this summer, a technician was able to come out the next day. He quickly was able to assess the problem and gave me the options. We determined it was best to replace it since it was 22 years old. SCHWANTES IS THE COMPANY TO GO WITH!!! Last week when the temperatures got unseasonably hot, and the humidity was high we turned on the AC only to find the outside unit wasn't working. UGH!! The next morning, I immediately called Schwantes (who a friend of mine told me about) and spoke to Stacy who was very empathic and a pleasure to talk to. She was able to work us into the schedule and just hours later, the tech, Rock was here to access the problem for us. Needless to say we were extremely thankful considering how hot it was in our house (82 degrees)! Well we didn't get the news that were were hoping for but, our unit was 20 years old, so we knew a full replacement was in the near future. Rock, who had to deliver the "bad news" was extremely professional and very knowledgeable. He shared all of our options which immediately allowed him to gain our trust. We also worked with Tim to get a new unit quoted. Fast forward to install day and Steve was the tech who did an absolutely amazing job installing our new AC unit. Everything was picked up and not a scrap was left behind. Schwantes' service was by far the best we've ever had (and we've worked with several other companies). The service was prompt, the employees were respectful and knowledgable, the price was very competitive and the communication was constant throughout the entire process. We had a furnace emergency at 11 pm on a Friday night. Called Schwantes dispatch who advised a service tech would call us in 15 minutes. Joe called us back in 10 minutes and told us he could be to our house in 1 hour. He called when he was leaving the prior job and arrived within his indicated timeframe. He diagnosed the issue and was able to get the furnace up and running to get us through the -15 degree night until a permanent fix could be made. Schwantes is alway friendly, honest and consistent. Had our Furnace and AC installed over a decade ago and maintenance is done by them as well. From the call for scheduling to the service performed is always top notch which is very difficult to find these days. Covid is the go to excuse for all bad customer service these days. Chris, our service technician for our recent maintenance actually installed our system in 2010 which says a lot about a company that’s able to retain quality employee’s. We refer Schwantes to whoever we can and I don’t see that changing.

We originally called the company that installed our furnace for an air conditioning repair only to find that Hero Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning took over the business. Hero came out first and said the circuit board would need to be replaced for $2000 with no guarantee that it would be compatible with the motor module which if it wasn't would cost another $2000. The suggestion was made to simply replace the unit. We called Schwantes for a second opinion and the technician found that some wires had been chewed through. The cost of the repair was $171. Compared to Hero, they were thorough enough to accurately diagnose the problem and fix it for far less. The technician even stated that the circuit board in question would only have cost $800 purchased through Schwantes.

There are a lot of HVAC companies out there. Schwantes had been referred by some neighbors and I looked them up on the BBB site - with A+ rating and I read all the comments. I needed to replace my 197X year furnace and the coils on the AC were leaking, so I needed to replace that as well. Like a good consumer, I got 3 bids. Tim was the sales rep for Schwantes and I appreciated his direct manner, no hard sell and he answered all my questions, including explaining how the warranty could be transferred if I should sell my house. One of the companies was just a hard sell and I didn't like that attitude. The other company I felt was on par with Schwantes. I went with Schwantes because they had the lowest bid and I liked their approach. I was given payment options of financing, paying with credit card, or writing out a check with a 5% discount-I chose paying with the discount. Brian and his assistant checked in with me and discussed exactly what they were going to do and they installed everything in a timely fashion - I took a full day off for that. An electrician came back another day to bring all the wiring up to code. Tim handled all the paperwork for my rebates. What a difference I am experiencing with the new furnace! I should have done it sooner. I am two months in with the new furnace and am very happy with the results. I would definitely recommend Schwantes to family and friends. It's nice to know there are folks who do a good job and really care about what they do-which is what you'd hope for from a family owned business. So pleased that I chose Schwantes!!

When we decided to replace, Scott's visit and follow up estimates were informative to aid us in making a decision, but there were never any high-pressure sales tactics. He even downgraded his recommendation to a different unit based on later research on what would best work in our home. I was so pleased I didn't even call anyone else. Pat did the installation and was courteous, friendly, and efficient. I immediately called the Stillwater fire department for assistance. I finally decided to get a Google account on 2/19/21 so that I can review this company. On 12/14/20, I had Schwantes restore the second stage on my TRANE furnace. They came out three days after I called about the problem and fixed it. I had noticed that the second stage on my Trane was not working. This occurred after a contractor from ACCAP had worked on my furnace. On 11/18/20 ACCAP approved me for a government program to super insulate and seal my home to reduce my heating cost. Now the problem may have been that before from work done several years before. However, when I call ACCAP’s contractor, not a TRANE dealer, about the problem they came out and looked at it and said it was working fine. So, I called around and was unable to get any kind of estimate to fix the problem. Time frames were anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Cost estimates, for those that would give one, were in the several hundred-dollar range. Then I called Schwantes! The lady who answered the phone was very polite and helpful. We had a pleasant conversation. She had been there 20 years. She setup an appointment for three days out. Joe came out and found several problems. The cost was $159.99, which included a $90 dollar trip charge for an hour and 15-minute job. Never have been as happy paying for something before. My furnace was now safe and working great.

We have always trusted the services and technicians with Schwantes. Recently this year, and because my wife has extreme asthma, we had Schwantes instal and RemoHalo system on our furnace in March. Immediately not only did my wife’s health improve, our entire house smelt fresh. In June, my wife was not breathing or sleeping as well and our air seemed musty and stagnant. As my wife’s breathing became worse, I had Joe ( who is fantastic and helped us before) come look at the Halo system. Joe was upfront and noted the original young installer had incorrectly installed the system and because of it, the system had not worked in months. Schwantes originally installed my Mitsubishi Mr Slim system about 5 or 6 years ago. They did a truly outstanding job on sales and service. Over this past winter a family of mice moved into the unit and chewed all the wiring. Schwantes sent Joe out take care of our system. After ignoring polite warnings by Schwantes techs who came out to do fall tuneups for the past two years that my old Bryant furnace was near the end of its life, she finally failed. Of course, it was on a cold December day. Usually this kind of stuff happens on a Friday night at 2am. But I got lucky and it was during business hours. I called up Schwantes at 10am and they had staff (Tim) out within an hour. After a consult, bid, and acceptance, they had a fleet of vans on site within the next hour. This experience was A+++, I would HIGHLY recommend Schwantes. I called Xcel Homesmart and they sent a company out. Though nice, they tagged our furnace which was not operating and had unacceptable carbon monoxide levels. Still, to get the heat exchanger part, and install a new one, they said buy some space heaters as it could take Xcel TWO WEEKS to get it ordered and done. So, I called Dave at Schwantes (who did our Air years ago) and he said he could get the warrantied part (as there was an extention of warranty that he knew of) and Schwantes got the whole job done by noon the next day. The Schwantes price was better than Xcel. The phone receptionist, and then the Schwantes technicians, Joe and Rockney were on time, efficient, pleasant, polite, professional and even cleaned up. I recently had Xcel Energy out to install a new saver switch due to old age. When we went to turn on the AC, it wouldn't turn on. I thought that this was rather coincidental with Xcel just out and AC not working. Joe fro Schwantes opened up the compressor and found the Xcel tech had not connected a wire properly, which caused the AC unit to not turn on. We received friendly, professional service from Tim Bachmeier, who did an excellent job of going over options, explaining differences, and setting things up! He said the crew would arrive at 8:00 a.m. and leave around 2:30 pm, and amazingly they did! The crew did an excellent job of installing the furnace, then walked us through the instructions and cleaned up after themselves like they were never there. The new furnace runs very quietly, and we now have even, constant heat throughout our house (no more cold or hot spots). We had also purchased the Trane Humidifier and Trane Clean Effects Air Cleaner and feel they were a very worthwhile investment. I no longer get zapped after walking across the room.

I had a new furnace and AC unit installed by Schwantes last year (2017). The first time it got cold this year I tried to turn on the heat, but it wouldn't turn on. I called Schwantes on a Saturday and asked to have someone come out and take a look. They (Joe L.) arrived same day and upon arrival he was expecting a quick fix because it was a new unit. After doing several tests he wasn't able to fix it. Running out of options, he walked outside to look at the ventilation pipes that come out of the side of the house and discovered they were filled with rocks. At some point some this summer some kids filled the pipes with rocks. Even though it wasn't Schwantes fault, Joe worked with me late into the night to help get all the rocks removed (which required cutting the pipes inside and outside the house. Once all the rocks were removed and air could flow properly, the furnace worked perfectly. If you're looking for an honest company with FIRST-CLASS customer service, call these guys.

Wonderful experience! When our A/C went out, I called Schwantes thinking maybe they could fit us in for repair in a few days. They not only sent someone out the same day, the technician came after-hours for no additional charge (the company had extended its hours because it was hot outside). The technician called me shortly before he arrived to let me know when he'd be there. Once he arrived, he found the problem quickly (a frazzled wire) and replaced it.
