I needed a furnace tune up for my new house, and called Schaafsma as they are a dealer for my brand of furnace, and offered a great promotion. I was very impressed with the technician, Zach H, who came to service my furnace. He was extremely professional, thorough, and knowledgeable about my equipment. He took the time to answer all my questions, and to explain the service that he was providing. I will be calling them back for AC service in the spring. Highly recommend Schaafsma!

When our furnace failed, Schaafsma was prompt in getting a technician out to evaluate the furnace. A sales representative was out quickly to help us choose the best furnace for our budget. During the installation process of a new furnace, water heater, and A/C unit the crew used great communication during the process, letting us know what to expect. First of all I'm very impressed with the company how easy it is to book appointments how easy it is to navigate I just like the company second of all and equally important Mr Ortiz came out and impressed me as no other service person ever has that young man knew his business answered any questions I had was professional and kind and I just can't instill in you and how much of a gem he is to your company. Our furnace went out so no air conditioning and the temperature was going to be in the 90’s. Our almost 95 year mother is with us and my husband and I are seniors too. Service came out and said we needed a new furnace as the price to repair was too high and he could not guarantee how long the repair would hold due to the age of the furnace. Sales was out that afternoon, ordered the furnace, and set up an installation appointment for after hours on Monday and Tuesday as there regular installations were out a couple of weeks. Jason and Teague to the rescue. They removed the old and installed the new furnace in one night. We had air before the temperature hit the 90’s. They were awesome and cleaned up everything. Aaron was the first tech who came to inspect my AC unit. I asked him if it was ok if he explained the issue to me as this is my first home I owned I wanted to learn. He was super informative. Aaron called multiple places to get the parts he needed. Zak was the tech that came a week later (due to the 4th of July holiday I thought that was super fast!) and he was also friendly and helpful. They even repaired some existing duct problems that no none caught before. They explained what they were doing as they went. We're very satisfied with their work. Our furnace died on a Thursday. They had a repairman here on Friday. It turned out to be the heat exchanger. With supply chain issues and age of furnace, it was more practical to just replace the entire furnace. Spoke with one of their furnace people that evening, and since they still had all the measurements from last time, they were able to work us in the following Tuesday. The workmen were efficient and friendly. They put down runners to keep our place clean. The job went smoothly and we now have a new and improved Lennox furnace.

I got ahold of Shaafsma to get advice and direction for the heating and A/C system. Greg the salesperson outlined clearly the recommendations for our home as well as what the cost would be and how the rebate system works. We scheduled them and within two weeks Carl and his crew arrived and replaced our furnace and A/C unit. They worked efficiently and maintained a clean environment. Carl came out the second day by himself and tied up the loose ends. I am happy with the quality and efficiency of their work. They also took time to set things right which were done by the previous installers or homeowner. Price was reasonable and doable as well.

They were the only ones who would show up in the dead of winter 🥶 for less than an arm+leg pricing to diagnose our broken furnace, so that was a plus in their favor. They showed up when they said they would. And called ahead to say they were on the way, that was nice 👍. The original quote for repairs was way higher than we thought it would be, but then when the repairs were done, the actual price was much lower. That was a nice surprise 👍👍👍 The furnace fired right up and the house was warming up quickly so we were happy. Although they tried to upsell (as expected) they weren't jerks about it and didn't press hard when we declined the extras. We would have taken it but we were already over budget. Would definitely recommend them, hence the 5⭐ rating, and will certainly call them without hesitation for any future needs. Oh, and the two different techs I interacted with were very thorough, super friendly and very patient with our many questions. So additional 👍👍👍 for that.

I could not be more HAPPY with my service today. My AC went out last night and it is hot mid July in MI. I called them at 7:50am this morning explained what was going on and they informed me they could have someone out in about 15 min. I was super happy because I work from 10-6 and did not know how I was going to make this all work. The tech was there by 8:10 and got right to work. He was able to tell me exactly what was going on and was able to fix it and have everything completed by 9:30am just in time for me to leave for work .The price was worth every penny. Marvin AKA " The old man" also gave me some good free advice on how to keep up on the unit so it will last me many more years. From start to finish these guys did a great job! Drew did a great job for us. Our furnace went out late in the evening on a Friday, and Drew was out to assess our heating system the very next day. He was quite knowledgeable, and he helped us weigh a variety of options. It turned out that our furnace was no longer safe to operate, so we decided to replace our old equipment. Jeff Nelson then did a excellent job helping us understand the options for a new unit giving up his time on Saturday and Sunday to make sure we could get a new unit installed first thing Monday. Steve and Jesus then came out Monday morning, and they also did an excellent job replacing our old unit. They were very careful, respectful, and friendly, and we had a new furnace working by Monday afternoon. Wonderful job Schaafsma team!!!

Horrible experience. They tried to take advantage of an 85 year old woman who's furnace was broken and it was 17 degrees out. I sent them away and called a different company and had a great experience at one third the cost. Call Canfield if you need a furnace.

Contacted Schaafsma Heating and Cooling on a Friday due to an aged and failing heating system. Per that initial phone contact, an inspection and quote were requested for replacement. Within an hour Schaafsma's representative arrived at my residence, provided an inspection and quote. Due to knowing their reputation, I accepted on the spot. Within two hours time from initial phone contact the installation was scheduled for the following Monday. And portable home heaters were provided at the time of quote! This allowed for complete comfort until date of installation. Schaafsma's installation crew conducted themselves professionally and courteously, with new unit installed and heating the home by approximately 3:00pm on that Monday. Their office personnel is to be commended for their promptness and courtesy in several contacts over the duration of purchase through to final installation. The install crew leader, Greg, also addressed a request I made concerning a cover for the air conditioner (also newly installed per my request), immediately contacted their office, and within minutes (really, within minutes!) I received phone call that they had located a cover which are in limited supply due to supply chain issues we are all to familiar with! Professionally handled all facets of replacing a 20 yr old furnace that failed inspection, including new thermostat, humidifier and air cleaner/filtration system. Job started within 12 hrs of discovery of holes in the old heat exchanger so my 92 yr old mother wouldn't be cold and we would be safe. Installers explained everything as they worked: including when they would be taking breaks. Took 2 days to finish but cleaned up each day. Had an AC unit crash on a Sunday. Monday morning I had a quote to replace my entire heating cooling system. The salesman provided a window ac for our bedroom so we could sleep...It was 91degrees. On Tuesday Morning the crew arrived, removed the old furnace, AC unit, humidifier and got the new system installed to get the house cooled off. The job was finished on Wednesday with no problem. The old system was not properly sized for the house. The new system cools great and I expect lower Power bills because of the proper sizing and higher efficiency. I highly recommend Schaafsma. David was great. On time, efficient, friendly, and skilled at his trade. Marvin had immediately diagnosed the problem on an earlier visit and he impressed me as well. The downside is the fact that no on ever bothered to tell me of the class action lawsuit against Bryant for a faulty part. The part was supplied free of charge but the labor charge was outrageous. Had I known of the faulty part at an earlier date, I would have replaced the whole system during warmer months and given the time to evaluate my needs.I will steer clear of Bryant-Carrier products in the future. Another expensive lesson learned. Stay away from the bells and whistles meant to save you energy dollars. It ended up costing me a lot more than I'll ever save with that system.

Total labor bill was $370.00. $75.00 for diagnosis and $295.00 for installing a part and sending the technician to go and pick it up. Maybe took 1.5 hours to get the part and install it. Seemed incredibly high for the labor. Will check around with other services, feel a little taken advantage of.

We did have one unfortunate future incident with Schaafsma when we installed our wifi thermostat. We were told our furnace would need to be upgraded in order to use a smart wifi thermostat. This was later proved false. Turns out the tech who told us that was new to the company, and misunderstood. We called Schaafsma because we had a problem with our Central air conditioner they sent a couple of service technicians out the next day after examing the unit and determing the problem it didn't make sense to put money into a 20 year old system so we decided to replace the unit. We had a salesman come out from Schaafsma very nice older gentleman sat down with us he asked what our needs where how we used our heating & cooling system and after talking with him we decided to bundle and replace our furnace and air conditioning there was no hard sale, again we are dealing with older units. When I first called them for an air conditioning "check up" 3 years ago, I was certain they would tell me my 19 year old air conditioner and furnace (which were original with the house) would need to be replaced in order to make a big sale. I was pleasantly surprised when they showed complete honesty and integrity with the service call, and serviced our unit without any sales pitch. They continued that same level of service with both our air conditioner and furnace for the last 3 years. This year, when having my air conditioner tune up, I learned that they would not be able to service our original unit next summer because of the coolant used in the older machines. There was still no strong sales pitch. I was the one that contacted the company and initiated the sale and installation of the new units. The team was professional and friendly from beginning to end, and we are very happy with their service.

Our furnace was kicking on and not shutting off. First we called schaafsma for a service call because we found them first online. They came out and the gentleman went through and explained exactly all the issues with our 25 year old furnace. We scheduled to have him fix it next day, since it was late, but also give an estimate. We chose a two stage Bryant. Next morning, we had a new furnace and air conditioner put in. We could see how badly it was needed when the old one was pulled out. I was not horribly impressed with communication and had a difficult time getting any calls back and no one really seemed to care about my business. I engaged two HVAC companies for quotes to solve for a weakening A/C unit and poor air flow upstairs. One company's "solution" and quote was for a replacement unit (same size, make, and model) and told me that poor flow and 10-degree temp difference between levels is inevitable with a single unit. Schaafsma quoted us a new unit, but also inspected our ductwork and recommended re-configuring it near the furnace/fan and adding a second return to increase the amount of air that could pass through, and upgrading our fan to move that extra air in an efficient manner. Needless to say we went with Schaafsma. We now have only a 4-degree difference between the main level and upstairs, and couldn't be happier with our decision. It was clear that the Schaafsma team is passionate, knowledgeable, and willing to take a stand when they know what needs to be done to solve the problem, not the symptoms. Office calls to me and response by tech was as expected. No complaints. However, after spending over $700 for a blower motor replacement, the tech could have at least re-installed the furnace filters and cold air return cover before he took my money and left! Also, a wire left hanging off the new motor attached to nothing. Something he forgot about? Makes me wonder if there is anything else he forgot? Sorry. I tell it as I see it.

Probably. You have provided service to my furnace and air con for several years now. This time the young man told me something was "grinding" and he recommended a $600 solution. I don't know if I can trust this advice. Are your techs on commission? Is there any other reason for him to make this recommendation?
