EDIT: Spoke to Jason G (Owner) on the phone this morning and he has worked with his staff and the manufacturer to settle our issue. I appreciate the follow-up and the care they take of their customers. I cant think of many other places who would follow-up on a review to make sure you talked through the issue and came to a resolution. I think this speaks volumes of them as a `business. Amending my original score to a 4 star.
Our HVAC was installed by Bell Brothers in 2019 prior to our purchase of the house. Unfortunately we noticed our AC was blowing room temperature air intermittently in between cool air so called for maintenance since they are the installers of the system. It was determined that a part that assess the outdoor temperature was malfunctioning and needed replacement. We proceeded with work although were never given an estimate for the cost of the part and told the technician that we believed our extended warranty was not valid since we were not the original purchasers of the equipment. We paid our invoice in full- including the $350 part and followed up with the manufacturer on the warranty. I was told (with written confirmation from their warranty department) that the part was in fact covered. We followed up several times with there Customer Service and Warranty department and were told the opposite of what the manufacturer was stating. I am still confused at how the manufacturer who is responsible for reimbursing the installer can say the part is covered but Bell Brothers will not reimburse us for said part? Unfortunate Customer Service when the equipment is less than 3 years old. Regardless of not being the original purchasers- a warranty is a warranty and they should honor the product that they carry!

Alex did a fantastic job of troubleshooting some issues with our geothermal heat pump. Very thorough, very knowledgeable. I will be requesting him specifically for future service/maintenance work.
However, I’m not as impressed with the back office for Bell Brothers. I had to call the office at least six times just to get an order confirmation and delivery status for a new control board for my heat pump. Then, they repaired a refrigerant leak in the same heat pump, charging me nearly $300 for a new refrigerant charge(understandable), but then came back a couple of weeks later and tell me that they didn’t fully repair the leak the first time so they had to finish repairing it this time, plus an additional Freon recharge to the tune of over $500 (very annoying). Not sure why I have to pay for the Extra refrigerant needed Because they didn’t fix the issue the first time.
So, overall I’ll give Alex 5 stars and the rest of the company 2 stars.

I had my furnace cleaned and checked for the first time. The technician was great! He was kind enough to answer multiple questions about my HVAC maintenance. He didn't make me feel bad at all for asking such basic questions. I had a horrible experience with another company when my system had issues, so I was nervous. Everything went great today. Our heat stopped working on Thursday night in the middle of the blizzard. We initially thought it was just having trouble keeping up but realized, when we woke up Friday morning to a 57° house, that it was not working. We called Bell Brothers and Ryan came out first thing the next morning (CHRISTMAS EVE). He was prompt, professional, and did exceptional work. He was thorough in diagnosing the problem and then made a separate trip to pick up a new exhaust fan motor and came back and installed it immediately 😲. Identified my steam humidifier had not been installed properly (piping needed to angle upward) and adjusted it. Blower speeds were also not correct which was causing the error 33 on carrier furnace. I arrive home after being gone for the weekend. There was no issue in the morning, but after running some errands I noticed there was no hot water. I checked the water heater and could smell gas and saw the pilot light was out. I called MidAmerican and they located 2 leaks and shut the gas off. I called Bell Brothers to see if they could come out. Everyone was so helpful and friendly and they were able to get Quinten to come out and do some repairs. Jerron Bigbee was the technician who worked on my furnace maintenance. He was very polite and professional. He cleaned out the condensate trap and vacuumed the furnace compartments. He took the condensate pump and trap apart and cleaned it which hadn't been done for awhile. “Orchestrated” - It’s the best term that I can think of to describe our recent experience with Bell Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning.
We were recently caught up in the Ankeny 10” rain with flash flooding which destroyed our basement. I contacted Bell Brothers early the following Friday after we got the basement cleaned up and Chuck was at the house before noon evaluating the situation. The Geothermal unit needed to be replaced and was a special-order model as equipped.
He arranged to have it built the following Monday to be shipped on Tuesday. The plan was to have installers at our house early that Thursday to remove the old equipment while another staff member picked up the new unit at the freight docks. I was told they would have AC running to cool our 90+ degree house by the end of that day.
It seemed like an overly optimistic plan to me, but they executed it exactly as I was told. As a matter of fact, the house was comfortable by 5:00
Their installers were extremely pleasant, hardworking and cleaned up their mess (and some if mine) before they left. I can’t recommend this company enough. They made what seemed impossible look easy.

Chad Dale was very professional and true life savior. While examining the A/C unit outside he noticed a faint whistle, upon looking closer, he could smell gas coming from our MidAmerican gas meter, prompting me to call MidAmerican right away to report the leak. While I called MidAmerican to report the emergency, Chad closed the gas valve before the meter.
After MidAmerican completed the replacement of the gas meter, Chad efficiently completed the service on our A/C unit while explaining what was wrong with the unit and the cost.
I would won't hesitate calling Bell Brothers for future service, especially with employees like Chad Dale

We recently had a new furnace and AC installed by Bell Brothers and were very happy with their service. When the AC didn't work initially, they went above and beyond to get the system up and running. They genuinely care about the customer and their service techs are great.

Where do I begin? My experience was beyond exceptional. Made a call late in the day for a water heater that was starting to fail. They were able to send someone out within a couple of hours and the service persons name was Zach. Zach called ahead of time to confirm the timing was still good before arriving which was nice because of my families hectic schedule. When he showed up he seemed eager to help and dive into the problem. I've had experiences in the past where you can tell the person assigned to help just isn't thrilled about being on the clock still. Zach and I went down where I showed him the water heater and he explained everything to me and the possibilities of where the issue might be coming from. He explained all the options to me and we decided on cleaning the heater coil fan intake area. Seemed to do the trick. He was extremely personable and knowledge. We submitted a service request online for our water heater that stopped working. Mitch from Bell Brothers called us within an hour or so and was able to get a service person to our house that same day. The service person, Ricky, called within an hour let us know he was on his way. Upon arrival he did a thorough inspection of our system and explained each diagnostic task to me so I understood what the issue was. The problem was identified and could have been repaired that day, however, my wife and chose to get a new system since ours was already 13 years old. We built new construction of a large home with a split system geothermal. Higher end waterfurnace series 7 system with both passive and active (steam generator) humidifier, hrv etc. Gas line installation to fireplaces grills and other appliances. From installation and duct runs with Jake…sales and design with Haris, LJ..and after the sales service with John, Adnan.. these guys are the most professional, clean and attentive crew I have dealt with. They also service our medical offices and we are lifelong customers. We had some issues with the geothermal that was related to the well drilling not at all with Bell Brothers but they backed us up and helped make everything right. After posting this review, I received a follow up call from the Service Manager who did offer to mitigate some fees which will go a long way to help pay for some of the repairs. So, thank you to BB for listening to and trying to accommodate my concerns.
Original post: Really frustrated and disappointed with BB after being a loyal customer for nearly a decade which turns out to not mean very much to them it would seem. We were even part of their preferred customer service plan which costs a lot of money and as it turns out, that didn't amount to much either. They were just out in October to perform service and apparently missed the fact that our humidifier was bad and there was a leak inside the furnace unit itself. Thank goodness we had the sense to call another provider to come out and properly diagnose and fix the problems that BB failed to see. When I spoke to the Service Manager Aaron, while polite at first, became defensive and argumentative about the fact that we had a competitor come out to fix it before they could take a look at it. Not that that would have changed the fact that they would have still charged us a trip fee even though we were on their plan and the system faults were possibly missed by their techs. It became clear to me that Aaron had not intention of actually trying to make it right and I guess felt the need to call so he could figure out which competitor just stole (probably another) one of his customers. I hope BB resolves to have better customer service in 2020! SO LONG BELL BROTHERS!!!

The furnace and AC are one of the most expensive things in the house. I was taught it's important to maintain them so you're not stuck replacing them. Bell brothers really tries to fix your equipment and keep it running for as long as they can. I really appreciated that when money was right.
They were so honest and straightforward about replacing the unit in our previous house and their prices were really competitive with great financing options.
We recently moved and bell brothers came out and checked through everything, told us how to use the thermostat and everything. They were so nice and professional.
I like their annual service plan, they remind me its time to service each unit and if something breaks, the service call and labor are free (used it twice in the last year). I honestly never thought I’d have a service company I could be so fond of, but these guys make this one area of homeownership a walk in the park.

My husband and I called Bell Brothers emergency line at 7:15 pm tonight. (Our A/C has not been working for 3 days, and we had multiple companies come out just to tell us that it was not fixable-we have two small children and it was 85 degrees in our house WITH two window A/C’s going. So it we decided it was urgent.)
Within 10 minutes their technician, Kenneth I believe his name was, called us and informed us that he was on his way. He got here about 8 pm, and within 20 minutes he had figured out our problem and was working to fix it. Within 1 hour of being here, he had fixed the problem, double checked everything, packed up and was on his way.
Absolute best experience we have ever had! Kenneth was 100% amazing!! If I could give him 10 stars, I definitely would! He was so polite, explained everything to us, gave us some recommendations on getting a new A/C & Furnace system, said he would have the sales rep call us, etc. We will never use anyone besides Bell Bros ever again!

This is a longer review, but the short version is: I am *really* happy with their service and really appreciate how they handled our issues.
We went with them for our furnace replacement because they had the best price for the job. Jason, the president, was the person who came out to do the inspection, and pointed out some things that other companies hadn't told us during their estimate visits. I appreciated his thoroughness.
After the installation was performed, we felt there had been a miscommunication and some of the service we thought had been agreed upon was not completed. Jason handled the issue personally and even though it wasn't clear where the miscommunication had occurred, he immediately took ownership of the issue and made it right. They had technicians come back within a week and resolve it at no extra cost to us.
I honestly expected there to be some haggling and horse trading over who said what when, but they simply did what was needed to make it right, and I couldn't be more impressed.

Adis, a technician at Bell Brothers, was a 10 star repairman on a 5 star scale! When our furnace blower went out at 3 am on Sunday morning, January 17, I called the emergency services line for Bell Brothers at 400 am. We had no heat and the temperature was dropping. Their repairman on call, Adis, called us back within a few minutes and was at our house shortly after 6 am! He diagnosed the problem and tried to put a bandaid on it until he could get the part here from carrier. He got it going and left , But the blower soon failed again. Again no heat.
But Adis was not going to leave us in the cold. He came back at 4 pm on Sunday and wired a temporary motor in place to tide us over until the replacement part was here, which was two days later. He was wonderful - knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate.
I will always be a Bell Brothers customer as long as Adis is there! He is the best!!!

I am reducing my original review from 5 stars to 4 for the following reasons:
After our gas leak was repaired MidAmerican Energy came back out and turned on the gas. Later that evening we smelled gas again, did the same inspection process with MidAmerican Energy and was told that there was a leak and that the service company must not have done a "pressure test" on the gas lines as requested by MidAmerican Enegry in their "fix-it notes" for the service tech.
We called Bell Brothers and they were very helpful and said they would waive their service charge because the issue should have been addressed the first time they were out here.
The same service tech came out the next morning and fixed the issue in less than 30 minutes, and everything works great.
When I received my bill it showed "1.00 hours service labor". I knew the service tech was only here for 27 minutes, so I called Bell Brothers to ask about why I was charged for 1 hour. I was told that they have a 1 hour minimum service charge, which is why I received a bill for 1 hour.
Again, I am still satisfied with the work done and am very glad to have our heat back on, but I don't see why Bell Brothers would charge the 1 hour minimum service fee when it was to fix a problem that should have been fixed at the first service call. I would have gladly paid for the 30 minutes of service time, but in this situation the 1 hour minimum just didn't sit right with me.

This weekend we had a small gas leak that MidAmerican Energy could not resolve and had to have our gas shut off Saturday afternoon. We called Bell Brothers to get an estimate of how much it would cost to get the leak repaired. I hope I'm not getting anyone in trouble, but the weekend service tech was very helpful and candid, he informed us that the weekend/after-hours rates were significantly more expensive and that if we could wait until Monday we could save quite a bit of money on the repair. The weather was nice and we got by with a few space heaters and quick showers for the rest of the weekend.
Monday morning we called again and Bell Brothers had a service technician, Sam, at our house that morning. A few hours later, all the necessary repairs were made, at a fraction of the price it would have cost if we had gone with the weekend repair.
Our service technician was very helpful in explaining what he was doing, and even had a hand held vacuum cleaner with him to clean up after all the repairs were made.

Called bell bros because it was installed by them 18 yrs ago.Requested service because air condition unit wasn,t working.made appointment.was told they were 2 days out. So I expected 2 days but was told if someone cancelled it would be sooner.was pleasantly surprised when 2 hrs later service man said he was on his way. So I don't normally do reviews but this one has been nagging me.
We have had Bell brothers install both and an air conditioner and a furnace, and have been very happy with those services.
Last Sunday evening our air conditioner stopped working. We called for after hours service and were pleasantly surprised that a tech promptly returned our call and was on site within 1 hour. He fixed the problem, the charge was reasonable and we were very happy to have our air back.
The following morning I printed off the receipt that was email to us and read a note placed on the receipt that read something like " Unit has been hardwired, bypassing the service switch. Very dangerous situation".
Not knowing what this meant but being concerned, I called Bell and talked with a gentleman there. I explained the note and asked if I needed to be concerned. After a few minutes of talking, mostly me explaining that the only people who have touched the unit were Bell brothers techs, the gentleman made the comment " I'm not sure where this conversation is going but I am not going to correct a problem in a unit that was installed 12 years ago."
So I get it. They do not know who may have dinked with it since they installed it. HOWEVER, the fact still remains, that NO ONE has touched that unit so if there was a wiring mistake made, one of their techs made it! Furthermore, I was not aware until a few days ago that the tech who repaired the unit last Sunday actually got shocked and I'm sure that's what prompted the note on the invoice.
Bottom line. 1.) Bell, if your tech was injured touching our unit, I suggest you track down the tech who did the installation and have a discussion with him. 2.) I do not appreciate being made to feel like I had done something wrong. Surely if I had enough smarts to by-pass electrical wiring, I could have repaired the unit last Sunday myself! 3.) I was not asking for anything when I called. i was expressing concern that something might be dangerous and was trying to get to the bottom of what needed to be done to correct it. 4.) In the future, if I have anything that needs to be installed like this, I will pay an additional second company to come and inspect the work to identify problems immediately before someone thinks I've "dinked" around with it down the road.
I will use Bell again because overall I am happy with their service, but frankly, the customer service inside the shop needs to polish up it's bedside manor. If I'm ever treated this way again, we will be looking for a new service company.

I want to thank my service specialists Mike, Steven and Cameron for a flawless rebuild of my HVAC System that was over 16 years old to a modern system that fits the needs of my Wife and myself.
They all arrived onetime and well ready to go at 7:00am each of them doing their specific job to accomplish the changeout. They were courteous and very friendly especially with my two dogs Cooper and Hunter that gave them the once over when they arrived. In a short period of time they were all friends.
They completed the total changeout by 4:00pm which was amazing. They entire process was conducted in a clean and sorted atmosphere and when they left you would not know they were there at my home all day for an HVAC changeout.
During the day I asked several questions about the HVAC System and received very good and constructive answers from all of them. At the end of the day when they completed their task I was given a run down of what they did and what to expect from the new system including how to operate and maintain the new wireless thermostat.
Thanks Mike, Steven and Cameron for making this an enjoyable event as I thought it might be a nightmare if things went wrong but they did not and today as of the writing of this review I am enjoying my new system, thanks Bell Brothers and thanks to Glynn Phillips our Design Consultant that made all this possible for me and Bell Brothers.
