“Eric Smock Heating & Air-conditioning Inc,” sent Ryan and Matt to replace the heat-pump at my residence. They were both very professional, incredibly skilled, and informative! The Trane XL850 system that we bought from them, looks like a complete custom install. The technicians, Ryan and Matt, both have have incredible talent and expertise. The install, is a beautiful and functional addition to our household! They were really patient with us, in teaching us how to use the new digital WiFi thermostat with iPhone connectivity. I would recommend them! Without hesitation, as their skills, talent and professionalism are beyond reproach.

Technician was knowledgeable, professional, and very pleasant to work with. Everyone that I have dealt with both in person and on the phone have been extremely knowledgeable and helpful and provided excellent customer service. This was my second visit. They installed a new hot water heater and a humidifier. The technicians were on time did a really good job and explain to me everything in detail on how to operate and maintain it. They left my basement cleaner than when they got here and I had asked for a quote for some additional work I need. So after checking everything out, he said that the additional work he could give me a quote and they could do the work, but it would not solve my problem. This was really unexpected and I really appreciate it the honesty there’s not many companies these days that are this customer service friendly. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing any of their services.

I left a message with the after-hours answering service and received a call back from Doug within five minutes. I explained our AC was not working along with answering some of his questions. He was at our home 10 minutes later… on his way home from another job and was able to fit us in before he clocked out. I explained the problem .. showed him our thermostat , basement unit and outdoor unit. He quickly pinpointed the problem, had the needed part in his truck and we were back in business with working AC in ten minutes!! I asked about payment and Doug reminded me that we bought the ten year Eric Smock service warranty along with the ten year Trane parts warranty, so no payment was needed! We are currently selling our home and had two showings scheduled for the next day. We are grateful that potential buyers were able to come in and feel the comfort of cool air on a very hot and humid day. A hot house would not have been to our advantage. Thank you Doug, a wonderful Eric Smock employee! This is not the first time we felt the company was being very honest and has great work ethics. Good to have a company we can trust!

I reviewed Eric Smock Heating and Air Conditioning google reviews' online for my two different units of AC and Furnace systems replacements. I had Scot to come over and inspect both of my old systems. Scott inspected and provided all the available options and gave me time to think about the available options. After checking all the proposed new units, we decided to move forward with one of the best options. I gave them a call and finished all the confirmations online and over the phone. Ryan and his team were able to come on time along with the new AC and Furnace equipments. They were able to successfully install and explain all what they did. Great quality of work, professionalism along with excellent customer services. I strongly recommend Eric Smock Heating and AC services and I look forward to have your continued support for my two newly installed systems.

Today we had our Trane heat pump checked under our routine maintenance plan with Smock for air conditioning (it will be checked in the Fall for heating). The technician that came today, Frank, called ahead of time, he was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I especially appreciated him asking about some of our settings (that work best for our system and house), rather than just automatically changing them without asking. Highly recommend, Frank did a great job!

The Smock team responded to a late evening call with very professional service and rapidly got me connected with the on-call tech. This was by no means an emergency repair, so they walked me through some steps to take to get through the night comfortably (which all worked) and then promised to call the following day. The next morning I was contacted at 8am on the dot and had a tech, Kevin, at my house by noon. Kevin was knowledgeable, personable, and informative. He was able to get us back up and running and performed additional preventative maintenance on the system as a whole. It all cost significantly less than I was expecting. 5 stars for sure and I will be using them again!

Great experience. Very professional. Our HVAC system went out unexpectedly. As a new customer I expected to have to wait for a repair. Called in the morning and the repair tech Frank was here right after lunch. They sent a picture of the tech and he called when he was 15 minutes away. Quickly found the “what” that was wrong and could have reset the system and called it a day. Instead he kept working at it and tracked down the “why” and repaired it, tested it and checked out the rest of the system. Very professional and very thorough. Would recommend without any hesitation.

Frank T. was prompt, polite and professional. He was here to perform routine Winter maintenance on our HVAC system. He pointed out issues with the burners in the furnace and with the humidifier. Replacement of the burners was suggested. After we saw the burners, we agreed. They were very rusty, some almost to the point of being closed. Frank brushed the burners so they would last until the new burners can be installed. He also cleaned the filter and the line in the humidifier so it will perform as advertised. He explained everything and showed us the issues. We have been in this house for a little over three years and have used two other companies in the past. We can say this has been one of the most thorough service calls we have had. The other one was also performed by another Eric Smock technician. We have been very pleased with the service.

I am so impressed with their level of customer service! I called at 4:30pm on a Thursday when I realized my AC unit was not working properly and based on my experience with other companies, I didn’t expect a call back until sometime next week. At 5:15pm, I received a call from Doug, the technician, and he was on his way in 45-60 minutes. Not only was he on time like he said, the problem was fixed right away (no waiting to order parts) and life was back to normal within 2 hours of my initial call. Let me just say, I previously worked with a different HVAC company and regret it based on my experience with Eric Smock. the fact that I could have a real issue fixed within the same day just goes to show you that Eric Smock really does care about their customers and takes pride in their reputation and quality of work. Every experience thus far (new system quote and installation, regular maintenance, AC issue) has been A+. Trust me when I say, you won’t regret working with this company!

I have been using Eric Smock to service my heating and air conditioning system for about 3 years. This week we had or heating maintenance preformed by them. The tech, Ryan, called me 20 minutes before the scheduled time to inform me he would arrive in 20 minutes. 15 minutes later he was at the door. He went right to work on our furnace and was finished promptly. After he finished the maintenance we asked if he could install a new Nest thermostat. He said No problem. He went to the shop, picked up a new thermostat, installed it and walked me through all the features of the thermostat. Ryan was great, very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. I have been very happy with the level of service I have received from Eric Smock and would definitely recommend them to anyone who was looking for a quality HVAC company.

I will give 7 stars for sure. They seem to be a very customer service oriented company. The salesman Scott was straight forward took less than 5 minutes of my time when he came to give my quote with no sales drama and fulfilled all my requirements . The installation crew were courteous and followed all I had requested Scott initially ,keeping exterior doors closed , wearing Shoe coverings etc... I felt their system seemed to be a well-oiled machine from first call, sales and installation all completed within a week.

Kevin responded on Saturday to our emergency call (no ac). He quickly assessed the situation and determined that our system’s blower motor had burned out. The new part had to be ordered and then Kevin returned and quickly installed the new motor along with a surge protector. He also showed us how to set up the Smart Home thermostat and even closed one of the open windows. All in all, it was excellent service.

Frank did a great job checking out our heating system. He also explained how to work the thermostat and checked two rooms that were not getting much heat last year. He showed me how to adjust the fan so that more air will flow into those rooms. He was very patient as he explained how to find different settings on the thermostat. I would highly recommend him.

Our furnace was not working after hours, we called their after hour message service. Talked to a live person to explain the repair needed. First thing in the morning I received a call from the company saying they will have a repairman out ASAP. The repairman Franklin showed up at the door very timely and ensured that he had the part with him before he showed up. With in 30 minutes the part was installed and we have heat! The entire experience was fantastic. We have been customers of Eric Smock for over 20 years.

I can not say enough good things about Eric Smock Heating and Air. I give 5 stars and would give more if there was an option. Today Mike came out to install a humidifier on my gas furnace system. He came promptly at the appointment time and he even called beforehand to let know he was on the way. He wore booties to protect my floors and carpet and used a drop cloth. He worked silently and efficiently and had my humidifier on and running in a short time. Mike was clean and there was no mess. The humidifier was installed neatly. He explained everything about it to me before he left. He asked if I was satisfied with the job. As always, another fine job by the professional staff of Eric Smock Heating and Air. The technician arrived on time. He was knowledgeable of the heating & system I have. Performed all maintenance on unit in the attic & basement. He looked around the attic for any leaks from the roof, bats or any critters that could get in through the eaves. He even replaced a burnt out light bulb in the attic. Replaced all filters! Checked the units outside for any leeks, damage etc. I have had nothing but a great experience with the Smock techs. They're professional, well mannered, talk to me about any problems I should be aware of. So glad they're my go-to guys for heating/air. I highly recommend them for all your heating & air needs.

We hired Eric Smock AC to replace our AC/heating units after experiencing excellent service repair from them twice in the last month in emergency situations. After a friendly negotiation process we received a very fair peice to replace one of our units. The installation team led by Will and Mario was excellent. Their workmanship on the units they installed was of higher quality than from a previous company that we had worked with. In addition, the one year maintenance agreement and 3 year parts and labor agreement are unique add ons that other companies do not offer.

Matt and team came out to replace my HVAC system. Not having AC in the summer months can be grueling, however, once we setup our install, they showed up the SAME DAY with window units for all of our bedrooms to help keep us cool for the week leading up to the installation. On installation day, they showed up right on time. Matt was professional and helped explain everything to me clearly. Matt even replaced the filter in my other unit (complicated filter install). I couldn't have asked for a better experience and I highly recommend this company if you need to replace your HVAC. They even gave us a bag of swag, and were also friendly with my son.

Our fifteen year old system failed on us so I called Eric Smock at 8:00am the next morning and was told I would be contacted before 4:00PM. I was called at 8:15am! Talked to Scott and said he was in the area. He was at my house at 8:30! We determined that my system was not worth fixing, so he gave me a great price on a new Trane AC system. He made the arrangements to have their guys come out to do the installation. They were at my house by 9:50am! The Trane system was installed by 4:00pm! These people totally blew my mind!!!! Unfortunately, the repair was going to be extensive and require cutting drywall. Due to lack off available time he was able to make a temporary repair until a day could be scheduled for a permanent fix. He got us up and running and bought us time to go away on our planned weekend without worrying about flooding or lack of AC. Great company and highly trusted technicians.

They came within a couple hours of my call and repaired it.) Adding to my review below, my semi-annual HVAC maintenance was today. Kevin Miller did my maintenance. He is always so pleasant and explains everything so well. Once again I highly recommend Eric Smock Heating and AC. Original review: I came home from work recently one very hot evening around 6PM and the AC had stopped working. It was 81 degrees in the house! I called Eric Smock Heating and got their answering service who relayed my information. Very soon I received a call from Kevin Miller saying he could come right away. Since we have a maintenance plan with Eric Smock, there was not even an extra charge for the emergency visit. Kevin arrived shortly after we spoke and discovered the motor on our AC fan was broken. He was able to find a motor that would fit our 27 year old AC in his (apparently very well-stocked!) truck. Despite having to deal with a very old unit, he was able to replace the motor and get the AC back up and running. It was 83 degrees in the house by the time he was leaving, but thanks to his efforts, it cooled off sufficiently enough for us to be able to sleep in comfort that evening. Kevin sometimes comes to do our maintenance checks in the spring and fall, and I always find him to be very friendly and knowledgeable. This visit was no exception despite the fact he had to interrupt his evening with his family to come to help us. I am very thankful I found this company many years ago and would highly recommend them for your HVAC needs.

The Eric Smock technicians are almost always personable and give us tips about the various things we can do to keep our system running well between visits. We've been using Eric Smock for 4 years now. We bought our home and, much to our dismay (when the heat wouldn't work during a snow storm a week after we bought the place, and the original installers were rude and couldn't be bothered with us), found out that the prior owners did zero maintenance on the HVAC. The entire thing had to be rebuilt, and for the past 4 years since, we've had ZERO issues thanks to Erick Smock. They have a reasonable cost maintenance program that entails them coming out twice a year to do basic maintenance, and you get whole host of other benefits as well. They always pick up the phone, and in the rare chance they do not, they respond back immediately. We usually have one of two service techs come out, which is wonderful because they're familiar with our home and system. From the office staff to the techs themselves, everyone is friendly and professional. The techs speak in terms you can understand when explaining issues (bonus, they love my dog and always let her "help" (aka: watch) them while they work) and they have always been nothing but friendly and helpful. They also send an email when your tech is on the way with their picture included, for security reasons (which is awesome in the off chance it's someone new). You can't go wrong with this company. Hands down the best (and we dealt with several absolutely dismal companies before finding this gem). You will not be disappointed.

Called Eric Smock Heating and AC to inspect my aging split heat pump system. A friendly voice answered right away and scheduled my appointment. On the appointed day, a half-hour prior to arrival, I received a text as well as an email showing the name and photo of Jim W., my assigned technician, plus a call from Jim. Jim performed an amazingly thorough inspection and tune-up of all parts of the heat pump system, describing and showing me what he found, including a rusted coil and a partially clogged drain line in the oldest heat pump. The old heat pump still works but because of its age and rust issue, Jim recommended the monthly maintenance plan, so this gives me peace of mind for now and a discount when I need to replace it. He recommended the best thermostat settings for the system and sent me an easy-to-read report of all results by email. Very happy with the friendly, professional, on-time, knowledgeable, and thorough service! Eric Smock will be my go-to HVAC service from now on.

On Tuesday morning Mr. Smock returned my call from the previous evening. The same morning Scott came in and provided me with an estimate and the terms of contract. They also had the brand I was looking for. I chose this company against other estimates, hoping for the best. On Thursday, two days later, Matt called me to apologize - they were going to be late. They were late about 10 minutes, and they had a good and valid reason. Nobody ever apologized to me for 10 minutes.😃 Most businesses consider half an hour as being on time and think nothing of it 🤔. I called their office in the late morning after our carbon monoxide detectors went off and we were advised by the fire dept to turn off our gas and furnace. The customer service of Nancy and Dan was exceptional. Nancy's welcoming and concern for my needs as the customer was one of the best customer service interactions that I have experienced. She treated my concerns as the most important thing she had to deal with and she dealt with them quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly. She is a major asset to your company. The first experience with Dan was with my sister from Minnesota when she contacted companies to try to get my furnace fixed fast as she was concerned that I had no heat, but getting the part was a problem for everyone on a Saturday. Dan responded quickly to her and explained everything and even offered to call Trane to see if they could get someone in their warehouse so that he could go pick up the part on Saturday. My sister was very impressed as she stated he went above and beyond for a customer that he had never met. I had decided to have my prior company fix it Monday but when I talked to them on Monday, they said the part wouldn't be in until 2-3 days. Then I called Eric Smock Heating & A/C. That's when Nancy's great skills came in play. She let me know within 15 minutes the part had been found, Dan picked it up & within 3 hours of the call, Dan had my furnace up and running. Dan's knowledge and his helpfulness as he explains things was over and beyond basic service. My sister was impressed with him when she talked to him, and when I dealt with him he impressed me. All I would like to say is that EVERYONE I came in contact with at Eric Smock HAC Inc., were extremely pleasant, courteous and professional. I was able to get my new system installed only day's after making the purchase. Since it was a holiday weekend, I was even given the opportunity to have the installation done on Monday, September 9th, Labor Day, but declined since I did not want to interrupt their employees holiday. Having said that, the fact that they were even willing to complete the installation on a holiday speaks volumes about their commitment to customer service. As for the installation itself, they arrived on time, EVERYONE in a clean and neat uniform, put down tarps to protect the floors in our house and once that was done, completed the entire installation in about seven (7) hours. Once completed, you wouldn't have known they were ever here. The entire experience was FANTASTIC, and in a world where most businesses fail miserably at meeting promised expectation's, Eric Smock's crew are the exception. GREAT JOB and THANK YOU!

These guys are true professionals. When I was told that they would come and replace/install my new HVAC/heat pump unit, I was expecting two guys that would conduct the work. The AC condenser was frozen over and I was able to get an appointment the same day. Dan showed up on time with Covid mask and went through his checklist. I had manually defrosted the condenser and changed the filter the night before. When he checked the Freon pressure he said that there might be a leak and if they had to add Freon it may cost upwards of $400 to fill 3 or pounds of Freon. Our system is original with the house (1992 build) so we know it needs replaced. We're just trying to nurse it along till we can afford to replace it ($7000-$10000). The good news was that the pressure built up as we talked. Apparently, on old systems it takes longer for the pressure to build up on the gauges . The cause of the condenser freezing was a very dirty filter and having the AC set on cold (60 degrees) overnight when outdoor temps were in the lower 40's. So it only cost the service call fee of $108. Dan was very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and honest. He didn't try to sell me on an obvious need of a new HVAC unit. But I did get an appointment for a replacement estimate. This is the second time I've used Eric Smock and it's been a good experience each time.

On October 9th Kevin came out to do a system check on my heat pump . He checked the whole system and added some freon for me.He was very good and explained what he was checking as he went along. Since this was the second time this year that my freon was low he believed there was a leak and most likley it was the inside coil. I decided not to go for the leak test since I also believed that to be the issue because of water leakage inside the house which I had in the past caused by the coil. I scheduled an appointment to talk about a new system since mine was 12 years old and a lower end one. 3 techs ( sorry, can't remember their names) came out on the 15th and installed my new Trane system. They were very efficient and courteous, it was rainy that day and they brought cloth to put down in my house to keep the floor clean. While installing they had to call in a sheet metal person to help with the return from my second floor. he came and took measurements and they returned a week later to install that piece. They did have me up and running the day of install except for the second return piece. I am happy with my new system and the financing was great. As was the warranty. I would recommend them if you need help with your HVAC needs. October 21, Antonio came out today for a scheduled maintenance check, very professional and answered the few questions I had. Will continue to use them for my HVAC needs.

SMOCK and Co., have been the go to providers for all things HVAC in Frederick Maryland For Many Years now. As HVAC and particularly air conditioning units go in the summer in Maryland, SMOCK HVAC is there for you when the unit is not performing up to expectations as was the case here. In the heat of Summer in July, the SMOCK tech came out to service ~ 4 Ton 18 Seer Trane unit that was not cooling for unknown reasons. The tech was professional, diagnosed the issue and made necessary repairs in rapid fashion. The unit was back online and cooling in relatively quick fashion much to the pleasure of homeowners and no longer sweating occupants. Recommend SMOCK over the builder grade HVAC stuff by long shot. As the saying goes pay now or pay later and SMOCK backs up what they sell and service with maintenance agreement thats a bi pricey up front but pays for itself in situations like this where there is no $ for covered items. Thanks to SMOCK and crew for patriotic service and keeping the TRANE brand HVAC units living up to their reputation, i.e. nothing stops a TRANE.. Thanks and good luck

Prompt, courteous, responsive, good value for the price, knowledgeable, fast, and technologically connected are all words I would use to describe Eric Smock Heating and Air Conditioning. I called Eric Smock Heating and Air Conditioning to look over my system after I botched a thermostat install. It was 20 degrees outside when my furnace shut off and I needed someone to come out right away. I took a chance on a Google search for HVAC companies in my area. To my delight, the receptionist told me someone could come out that day, and they would call me 30 minutes prior to coming out. About an hour later, I got a text, call, and email (with a photo of my technician). Technician Doug was very courteous, putting on protective booties upon entering my house. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown fuse on the furnace panel. He could have stopped there, replaced the fuse and left, but Doug went way beyond what I called him for, showing me the ins and outs of the furnace system of my newly purchased house. He performed a seasonal inspection of the unit, cleaning out a few of the more common problem areas and making sure everything was functioning properly. Doug replaced the fuse and stuck around to make sure my new smart thermostat was working properly and then performed a function test of all of the furnace’s settings. Nothing short of fantastic. While not the top criteria I use when evaluating a company, Doug’s work truck was clean and looked new. It was obvious the company takes pride in its vehicle fleet. I also appreciated the company’s use of technology. The technician called and texted, the receptionist emailed me a photo of the tech, and the technician quickly drew up an invoice for me on his tablet. Glad to see a company taking advantage of available technology. Eric Smock’s prices were reasonable and I felt I got my money’s worth for the services Doug provided. I plan to use Eric Smock Heating and Air Conditioning for my spring seasonal system inspection and for any future issues I may have with my HVAC system.

My heat pump decided to quit working on one of those days (May 3, 2018) were Maryland winter suddenly becomes summer bringing along 90-degree temperatures and humidity. I did some cursory research on Angie’s list and Yelp and decided to contact the Eric Smock company. And I am glad I did! This is a top-notch outfit that provides end-to-end exceptional customer care, technical expertise, professionalism, and attention to detail. II called the number on their website around 7AM Friday May 4 assuming I would get an answering machine. Instead I spoke with Jeffrey of their answering service, who took down the details of my problem and he assured me that he would get the information right over to ES. Around 7:45 AM Ashley contacted me from ES, reviewed my information, and explained that due to the heat things had really gotten busy but that they would do the best they could; very professional, very friendly, and I got the sense that she “owned” the problem and would do what she could. She had rearranged some work, and as it turns out Kevin was available to come over and diagnose the issue around 9AM. Detail: She sent me an email with Kevin’s picture on it in advance of his arrival so I would know who to look for. Kevin did a number of diagnostics on the heat pump and the air handler in the basement, and unfortunately, I had suffered what he called a “catastrophic failure” requiring complete replacement. He was very straight-forward and explained what had happened. I was reeling a bit, I suppose, and when he said that Scott (owner’s son) would be over at noon to provide an estimate, I said something like “Well it will be good to get it repaired,” and Kevin very politely but clearly said, “No, we are talking replacement.” Kept me on track, in other words. He did not commit to any ballpark for replacement, nor when it would occur -- expertly managing my expectations and my tendency to hope people will say what I want to hear 😊. Scott arrived ahead of schedule around 11AM (Ashley called to confirm if this would be acceptable) and we sat down and discussed the options. He first asked a few questions to gather information which might have a bearing on the equipment installed (e.g., does anyone have allergies or asthma?) took the time to walk me through a short presentation on the company, their training and skillsets, insurance status, and then the actual estimate. He provided several options for replacement. They also offer financing, which I did not require. He was not sure if they could get to it today, and if they could if they could finish it, but they would try, and in any event I would have AC that day, and if necessary he would help on the install! As it turns out, Scott and his initial crew arrived around 3PM with a truck load of equipment and started to work. They decided to complete the job that day, due to other work that was piling up, for which I was grateful. They finally wrapped things up at 9PM! I got a great briefing on how to operate the fancy-dancy high tech thermostat (can’t wait to show that off to my kids!) and how to connect it to a device (which I did the next day -- was quite easy). I think they left the place cleaner when they left then it was when they arrived! The entire crew -- and I apologize that I didn’t recall all their names -- was polite, respectful, hardworking, well-groomed, and wearing company-issued polo shirts for a neat, professional appearance. They took care to put on those bootie things on their shoes when in the main part of the house. They appeared to work well together, each going about their tasks. It was not their first rodeo, as they say. One of them mentioned that they rarely begin a complete replacement project that late in the day, but they wanted to finish it so they could help other customers. I don’t write a lot of reviews, and certainly not this detailed, but I wanted to document just what you get when you work with the Eric Smock Company.
