My mini split for my office stopped cooling properly and Mountain Air Mechanical came out the next day to diagnose the issue. Sam Eller diligently tracked down a refrigerant leak after diagnosing low refrigerant. He was professional, thorough and answered all of my questions. Pamela and Kaitlyn were great too with regards to scheduling, quotes and follow-ups. Overall a great team at MAM and I will definitely call them first the next time!

He has been out to our home several times to fix problems with our HVAC system, and every time he is on time with a phone call letting us know when he will arrive. Even better he has always identified the problem quite directly, and better yet he has fixed the problem. I had a great experience with Mountain Air! I called late morning, knowing that I would be giving them a narrow window of availability and fully expecting to have to wait for an appointment. Instead, they had Josh at my home that same day. He diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly at a reasonable cost, and he took the time to explain to me what he was doing as he went. He even recognized and remembered servicing our system for the prior owner! A very pleasant experience start to finish, and the problem that a competitor had claimed didn’t exist now really is solved. I had a Freon leak in my walls. It took them a while to figure out how to repair this problem without tearing the walls apart. They figured it out and did a great job. My first experience with Mountain Air was in late April of 2021. On the first really warm day of the season, I turned on my AC (a mini-split) but was not blessed with the cold air I expected. It was not even cool. I told myself "keep calm and carry on, and call Mountain Air." It was the first time I needed this type of service, and I'd heard good things about them. Their technician found some fittings in the outdoor unit that needed to be replaced, so an appointment was scheduled for repair. On that day, refrigerant was added as well, and after that, the system performed as it should all summer long. Fast forward to the first really warm day of 2022, when my AC lets me down again. Without hesitation I called Mountain Air, and this time a leak was discovered in the indoor unit. After getting a quote for repair, I decided it would be better to replace the system. A consultant came to the house; evaluated its electrical infrastructure; took some measurements; and then helped me decide on a new system, with no pressure whatsoever. I decided to go with a model that has a few "extras," and as soon as it was up and running, I was amazed! I'd never realized how wimpy my old system was until I had the new one for comparison. With my old system, even when the fan was on high, cold air would slowly creep into my open concept living, kitchen, and dining area before filling the space. But with this new Mitsubishi.....BOOM!

I wanted to replace my 18 year-old HVAC system and registered for the Duke Energy rebate program. They gave me 3 of their approved qualified HVAC vendors for bids. I chose Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors to do the replacement because they bid a 16 SEER Trane system for the best price solution for me. They included a Whole-home-air-purification system PlasmaAir. Some vendors charged for extras like for a licensed Electrician to do the High Voltage hookup or for Removing & installing attic equipment via pull-down stairs. Mountain Air included that for no extra charge. The installation of my new HVAC was done in less than 8 hours by a very professional crew. They cleaned-up the work area and hauled away all the trash. The salesman made the whole process go smoothly with the documents, county approval process, etc.

A/C quit during the night. Called next morning and they had someone there in the afternoon. Chris was professional, efficient and friendly. Within 10 minutes had diagnosed the problem and replaced the part. I was not happy with the $35 (yes, $35!) gas charge on top of the $120 they were charging just to come out and diagnose the problem, particularly since the business is located 1.6 miles from my home... But... they have you over a barrel, don't they?

I switched to Mountain Air Mechanical 3 years ago (after 22+ years with another local company under new leadership which led to a substantial decrease in quality and dependability). I was looking for a solid, reputable company to perform regular maintenance on my two heat pumps. After a lengthy search, I chose Mountain Air Mechanical based on personal recommendations from folks who use them, online reviews, the opinion of a retired HVAC tech who did not work for Mountain Air and finally, a visit to the office for a meet and greet with the service manager. I have not been disappointed. Mountain Air Mechanical HVAC techs are always responsive and timely and seem to do their job with diligence. Ended up deciding to replace a 12+ year old heat pump this winter before it breaks this summer (again) and went through Mountain Air sales to find a desirable unit for my situation. We worked through the process and settled on a very quiet and efficient unit which met my requirements. Ron was fine to work with and accommodated my need to prioritize both quiet and efficiency which isn't always easy to do. The installers showed up as scheduled and proceeded to work the next two days on my install including adding a new return/supply. The HVAC installers, Yuriy and Victor, were polite and professional and went straight to work upon arrival. They were conscious of the COVID-19 protocols and took extra care to minimize any debris or mess accumulating inside the house. They cleaned up inside before leaving for the night the first day and when finished as well. We did have a couple of discussions about the process and next steps etc which I appreciated for being kept informed. A pleasure actually. I did go into the attic after they were finished to satisfy my curiosity. The install itself looks great including the new plenums and added flex duct etc. The attention to detail is obvious. Just as impressive is the obvious care they took to minimize disturbance to the blown-in insulation which was no easy feat. The space was clean of construction debris and garbage was removed. The outside unit install is clean and very neat. A picture is attached. I'd be remiss if I don't mention the front office staff on both the sales and maintenance sides. Very pleasant and efficient folks to deal with. I usually leave one or two sentence reviews. That doesn't seem to fit the experience I have had with Mountain Air Mechanical over the past 3 plus years. Replacing a HVAC unit is a huge expense and can be a bit nerve-racking for some. Retro-fitting these units into a 30+ something house is fascinating but does require skill and expertise. They did a great job. A company is only as good as its leadership and employees. So far so good with Mountain Air Mechanical.

We had Mountain Air Mechanical replace our 20 year old Trane AC + Furnace system. My summary would be that they're great to work with, but I'd recommend double-checking their work afterwards. We had a different company come first to give us an estimate. That guy didn't give us a great impression, and left us with a single sheet estimate, with few details. On the other hand, Brian, from Mountain Air, spent lots of time with us, listened to our needs, and left us with several options. And explained the pros and cons of each. (See picture) The price of the system we went with seemed fair. PLUS Mountain Air Mechanical included maintenance check-ins for the first year AND took care of the Duke rebates for us. The installation process itself was fine, and we were happy they were done in a single day, since our AC was struggling on hot days. Unfortunately, the installers didn't correctly install some drain tubing, which the inspector caught. And they also accidentally opened up holes in our ductwork (see picture). And left it that way. Fortunately, I discovered this, and they came back to repair their mistakes. And the owner contacted us to apologize, which meant alot to us. From reading the reviews here, I'll assume this was not characteristic of their installers. So with that in mind, I'd still recommend Mountain Air.

Stop searching for HVAC companies and go with Mountain Air. We finally became homeowners but once it got hot enough to kick the AC on we found out our system didn't cool. I called around to a bunch of places and since it's getting into summer temps everyone was booked out for at-least 2 weeks. Their receptionist (sorry I wish I remembered her name!) answered and looked at their schedule... she got me in on the same day! What a stress relief. Charles came out to fix our system and he is a true professional. He knows what he is talking about and fixed a few things to get us back on our feet and in a cool home. I appreciate that he didn't "mansplain" things to me.. I know a-lot about home repair, but I leave HVAC to the pros, so it was great to talk with him about the process he was going through and he didn't make me feel like a nosey home owner peeking behind his shoulder. 10/10 a great experience and seriously made the stress of a hot house vanish within the same day. BRAVO!! If the company reads this, please give Charles and the receptionist a raise! They deserve it haha.

They won our business late winter on a service call for heater, prior vendor had left us without heat 4 days, called them, new call-in customer and we received same day repair and lower cost too. This summer undersized A/C unit is leaking and been under-performing since house purchase., Ron came performed load survey and determined we needed 40% more cooling ability. The new unit has saved us $220 dollars the last 3 months and Duke has us below average usage graph, where were were way above for years, I love my house again in the summer and enjoy the quiet of the new unit. Mountain Air Mechanical was great from the moment I reached out to them, through the installation of my new heat pump and continuing to this day. Another company with existing ties to my condo building completely failed in customer service as I expect it to be, so I called Mountain Air and was fortunate to be able to do business with Ron. Because of insurance issues it took a little time to work out, but Ron was very patient and responsive during the waiting time. From Ron to all the installers (I think there were a total of 5 people in and out on installation day,) to a great tech named Chris, and Megan in the office, this is a first rate team. I paid a bit more for Mountain Air, but I also received a better product from an ethical company who will stand by their product while delivering exceptional customer service.

We have used Mountain Air Mechanical for 3+ years and have been very pleased. At one point I did research other companies and found some maintenance agreements to be a little less expensive but their costs for equipment was higher and high enough to make Mountain Air Mechanical the best choice. In addition to ongoing maintenance they have made multiple repairs to our 10 year old HVAC system including a new motherboard and dampers. They have replaced our humidifier that was fried after a lightning strike and installed a dehumidifier. They handle all the warranty information. We have had one technician Sam for at least a year now and he has been great! Caitlan at the office is wonderful as well. I have had a number of conversations with Brian regarding 2 new pieces of equipment we purchased and he nicely outlined the pros and cons of different options. After our HVAC system broke down, we got proposals from four contractors for a new system. Mountain Air's proposal was neither the lowest nor the highest; it tied with another company just below the highest. But, from the beginning with Amber on the phone to the end with Shannon collecting the money, we were very impressed with the thoroughness and professionalism of the Mountain Air employees. Shannon came over and checked everything, listened to us and discussed our needs before recommending a system. He was very personable (he even took time to interact with our dog), but he never pushed. He warned that the outside heat pump would be moved from under the deck because 4.5 feet wasn't enough head clearance (the inspector later confirmed that), and he printed out the proposal for us right then and there. Since we had to rely on a gas fireplace to keep the house warm, he priority-scheduled our installation. It was during the third wave of COVID-19 and everyone from Mountain Air who came to our house, Shannon as well as the installers, wore a face mask and social-distanced without having to be asked, something we appreciated very much. We highly recommend Mountain Air for any HVAC service.

I am giving Mountain Air Mechanical 3 stars. Because of having a communications problem. Things start pretty well salesperson/ estimator did a pretty good job assessing our needs for a new heat pump system. And making a a proposal on a new Trane system. But after that the customer care was not as professional as I expected. I texted the sales person that I had questions. We set a day and time. When I called I got no response from the salesperson. After 15 hours I got a text saying that something had come up. And they couldn’t answer questions. And could we make another time to talk. I said yes and gave a time. Four hours later I had no response from him. If the time was ok. So I called Mountain Mechanical. To find out what gives. The lady said she would get up with him. Still no response until the salesperson called. At that time he seemed short with me. And answered my questions in a tone that seemed like he really didn’t want to speak to me. Told me that the day before he had had a family issue come up. And that family came first. I can agree to a point about family. But a customer is also important. How long would it have taken to text a message around the time our conversation was supposed to happen. Or if that was not possible. Why could not someone from Mountain Air Mechanical reach out to me. That is called customer care. Next was the day of installation. I was told that the Installers would be at my home at 8AM. At 8:45 no installers had shown up. So again I had to call Mountain Air Mechanical. To find out what gives. Was told they were on there way and should be here shortly. A young man showed up. Followed by another 10 minutes later. A good professional company would of called me. Not me call them. Again customer care counts The man that arrived first. Seemed still half a sleep. After looking at me. He kinda lazy mentioned he was here to install my system. No Hi I so and so from Mountain Air Mechanical. I’m here to install you brand new heat. If you would please. Show me where to get started. Again a lack of communication and professionalism. The last straw was when the county mechanical inspector showed up the next day. No one was home. Because we had not been informed they were coming. I got a voicemail from the salesperson. Asking how the inspection went. I told him it didn’t. Because we didn’t know it was happening. But that my wife was rescheduling the inspection. I got back a text from the salesperson. That he had informed us of the inspection. And that my wife couldn’t make an appointment. Only Mountain Air Mechanical could. First off I had no phone calls, voicemails, texts or emails from anyone at Mountain Air Mechanical. From the day I signed the contract to the day the inspector showed up. I don’t know what happened. But I know me. I would have answered back. That I had gotten the message and understood when the inspector was coming. As far as my wife rescheduling. Yes she can. Because we had a nice note from the inspector. Saying he would work with on a day and time. That inspector went the extra yard. The installation went pretty good. Except that the installers missed a piece of packing tape. Which clogged the condensation drain line. And shut the system completely down. An hour after the startup technician left. I called the emergency number. And got the on call technician to come out. He did get me back up and running. Only time will tell if a good Instalation becomes a great one. One that has few repair. And lasts 20 years

I'm done with Mountain Air. I've been working with them since 2014 and, while they seem to do reasonable quality work and show up on schedule, I've found they overcharge consistently. The original system install was competitively priced in 2014. But i had a flood a couple of years later that destroyed my ductwork and they charged my insurance a fortune for replacing it. I've also had 2 failures of the TXV valve they charged my over $1000 to repair. After I saw how little time it took, I really felt taken (it didn't even require brazing the line). Recently, i had a evap coil failure and they charged over $200 to come out and diagnose (it took <30 mins) and then quoted a huge number even though the part is covered by warranty. I got 2 other quotes from competitors and both were nearly half Mountain Air. After seeing a $600 difference in quotes, I won't be using them again.

Mountain Air solved a long term problem for us. I greatly appreciate Nick, Brian and John figuring out a unique problem and repairing the issue for a very reasonable cost, versus replacing my entire heating unit. For over a year, my 20+ year old heating unit had an issue, causing water to condensate in my attic, which lead to minor water damage to my ceiling. I called the company we had used previously to trouble shoot the issue. They made 4 service calls and incorrectly concluded that we needed a new heat furnace. Late last year, I knew I was needing to replace an aging/malfunctioning/original builder equipment HVAC system. I knew I wanted to purchase American-made Trane equipment, and Mountain Air Mechanical came up in my Google search for local service providers (Asheville, NC area). We made our first call for service today and "AJ" was our service technician. First, he was on-time and actually ahead of schedule. Before he did anything, he spent time listening carefully as I described the issue with our new thermostat. Then he trouble-shot the thermostat itself before moving to check the gas furnace. Each step, he took time to explain what he was doing. The issue was fixed but then he walked us through the use of a NEXIA WiFi application that allows them to do diagnostic checks remotely and allows us to set our thermostat from a smartphone or laptop. Asked them to put me on semi-annual HVAC/heating system maintenance plan. This August, 2021 visit was to check my HVAC, a unit they installed in May, 2020. I’m a preventative maintenance guy. All is well, as one would expect on a new unit. The things I like about MAM are very specific: communication, professionalism and value. Communication: tech was delayed on job before mine. Office staff constantly kept me informed. Don’t get that attention to customer care many places. Professionalism: I’ve dealt with many of their staff since 2020 from giving quote on new unit, to install, to follow up, to office staff to service tech. Everyone is top notch. They run a great company. Value: though not necessarily inexpensive (unit and service contract) the value is definitely obvious. Others I’ve dealt with over the years in this geographical area are close to or as expensive, but lack MAM’s high standards. Believe me; I’m a tough customer. Service in a pinch! I have nothing but good things to say about MAMC. I live out of state and needed a local contractor for my HVAC problem. They made a free (after contracting for repairs) visit to assess the problem and the system. As it was, my system was older and used the old refrigerant (thanks cheap home builder). I have been very pleased, up to this point, with the service we have received, and for the most part with the performance of our Trane mini-split ductless system. Today, however, i was less than pleased with the result of the service call I requested. The 12,000 BTU heat pump in our living area is set for 74 degrees, but the room stays between 63 and 66 degrees. Your technician, Chris, was available today, soon after I requested service, and he was thoroughly knowledgeable and professional. My only complaint is not toward him but toward your company and the employee who determined the capacity of our system. What Chris determined was that the units are all functioning well. What is obvious is that the living area unit is not adequate to heat that space. So, in essence, I paid $135 to learn that you have sold me an inadequately sized system.
