First off, unfortunately I feel the hospital is a bit old and dark, BUT the staff I had in short stay and all the different people that helped me in day surgery were absolutely AMAZING! So nice and cheery. I'm a grumpy person, anyway, but they had me chatting and smiling. I think my nurses name was Cathy. She is a pretty perfect nurse. I have several medical issues, and have gone to Legacy, and Providence hospitals, and yes I like them a lot, but I've never experienced such wonderful staff at their hospitals. So, the staff totally makes up for the dark hospital. 5 stars for sure!

I had major surgery yesterday ending in losing an ovary and tube. I was in short stay and pre op/post op. I had the most amazing staff and experience. Every staff member I had contact with was extremely kind and helpful. My short stay nurse must have done her research on me before I arrived because she knew everything about me, which made it seem like I was catching up with an old friend. I felt so safe and cared for. Thank you so much to everyone for caring for me!

The Lady that checked me in for the infusion Monday 01/09/2023 did an outstanding job. I don't know her name however I especially like to see her for all my check ins because she is wonderful. The nurse that started my infusion should be commended. She is checking in patients, starting what ever needs to be started with individual patients. She has a warmth and a beautiful spirit. They make the process great for the patients.

Portland Adventist has a special place in my heart. I had two of my babies born there, our family received great support and care during the dying process of my father, and my recent visit. The staff was kind, accommodating, and very thorough. It solved my secondary symptoms, which made me much more comfortable. And then sent home orders for my PCP to treat my illness. The doctor assigned to me was kind, a great listener, and the information given was very understandable, and all the nursing staff did a fantastic job taking blood and giving IV fluids; kudos to them. I highly recommend this hospital.

From start to finish everyone was welcoming and kind and courteous and prompt. It's almost hard to believe that so many employees in the same area could be a 10 out of 10. I appreciated it very much. Dr Ajay Wanchu created a space where , right away, I felt comfortable and respected. He took things step by step, making sure to let me know that he was hearing my words and trusting my intuition and that he was going to be a partner in my plan to be proactive about my health. He was very kind and was very clear. I didn't feel rushed at any point but felt that he was very efficient in our appointment. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Had our child here May 2022. The staff from Check in to check out was great. The entire L&D unit were kind, understanding, helpful. Our main nurses Kelly & Kate were angels that really made labor and postpartum comfortable, they were amazing. Hospital nice, rooms nice, food good for hospital.. would come back if needed.

Went to the ER last weekend and was seen in 1.5 hours. The front desk staff was frazzled but very helpful, and got me checked in right away. Dr. Mike was so kind and a good listener; he did several tests and then thoughtfully gave me a diagnosis. Nurse Shelby and the other nurses & techs were friendly and took the time to explain everything to me. Everyone was so nice, which I really appreciated because I was scared. The only downside was that the waiting room was a disaster zone when we showed up (7:30 am on a Saturday) — trash strewn about, chairs askew, the result of what had clearly been a hectic Friday night in the ER. But the janitorial staff arrived shortly thereafter. Overall this was as positive an experience as going to the ER can be.

I had my hearing tested yesterday. The lovely lady that ran the test was so kind and understanding. Very professional and explained to me that I am a good candidate for hearing aids. Now I just need to figure out how to afford them.

I had some spooky cardiac symptoms and was seen in the emergency department quickly and attentively, medical staff explained their clinical reasoning clearly to myself and my wife. I would say I tend to grade medical facilities harder than most people do as I work in healthcare myself, I was grateful for the treatment I received here.

The staff has all been very helpful and super friendly and welcoming to me. The staff broke some not super great news to me but the way they did it is how I hope every doctor would handle things. I chose to come here after my dad had a massive heart attack in 2016 and they took beyond excellent care of him. I will always trust them with my health!

Dr. Kitts and his staff were absolutely wonderful. Dr Kitts was honest and direct, which I love. The moment my test results were in, and I mean THE MOMENT, he reviewed them and messaged me what I needed to do. It was surreal how fast he got back to me. In my almost 10 years living in Portland, this is the first positive experience I have had with a doctor. Get in as a new patient whenever you can. It's totally worth it.

It's weird to say I had a great medical experience, but I did. Staff worked really hard to coordinate multiple appointments in one day so I didn't have to drive multiple times from The Dalles. I felt very cared for. Lots of compassion, great conversations.

I only had to go in for a covid test in preparation for my procedure in the next couple of days. All the employees were very friendly and knew how to do their job. The wait time was minimal. I was out of there in about 10 minutes. Hope things go as well on Friday.

I love this hospital as it's the hospital I delivered at and I feel like the drs actually listen when concerned but there is this one nurse who works there who is an absolute nightmare to deal with. She's so rude and judgmental and makes me feel like the reason I'm there is stupid. She isn't there Everytime I go but the last couple times she has been and it's makes me dread the wait or even being seen.

They helped me out as fast as they could and are very nice every time I have gone in no matter the wait it’s well worth it considering that they are an emergency room so obviously more important matters get taken care of first which is understandable but they always keep you informed about where your at in line on getting back to a room.

I and my husband have been there a few times. People at the front desk are overwhelmed thus, they have no patience or show no compassion to hurting people. We have not had a horrible experience as some of these reviewers. Nurses and doctors are great, the problem is getting through the people upfront in the ER department. The saddest thing for me is, this is supposed to be a Christian hospital and the people who work there, all of them from janitorial services to the president, are supposed to reflect what this hospital represents, kindness, compassion. it is not happening with the front people. They seem short of patience, angry, could care less, almost like not wanting to be there, this does not help the people who come there, who are already hurting. The hospital administration should have regular meetings and workshops to remind staff what this hospital is all about and how people should be treated, otherwise, this will never be a 5 star 🌟 hospital.

Not sure where to even begin here. This is the same hospital that almost killed me via a very poorly managed post surgery discharge, but then saved me when the meds I was advised to take sent my liver into stage 4 failure. I guess I would say that in my opinion, they need to hire more of their fabulous nurses and doctors and pay them a lot better. I spent 4 days in ER and I have no idea how those people go back there day after day. They are truly incredible and I think of them with gratitude every day.

Excellent service in ER and with Assessment services ie CT, Xray. Admission to a room continued to exhibit excellent health care service. Pleasant staff, good listeners, compassionate and caring. Not only are the folks interacting with us this way, but the support staff must be very caring. The building and treatment areas were immaculate. Medical professionals are overworked we are told in the media. Clearly that is true, but the staff at Adventist presented to us demonstrating patience, kindness and courtesy in every way although they too are likely running just as hard as the rest of the medical teams in other places.

The emergency room was very busy with walk in patients and also a fleet of ambulances while we were waiting for our turn to be seen .It was a wait but the amount of people receiving services was the reason for the delay . With there being quite a few hospitals to choose from in the greater Portland area, so far I have had good results. However, unfortunately, one time my husband did not have a good experience. One word of advice, ( in my opinion I would say) if you are visiting and your visit did not go well, make sure you and/ or family member/members should definitely Express their concerns to the staff there at the hospital and even use Google maps review. I find it very helpful and useful

I have never been a patient at Adventist and reading reviews made me nervous. I recently delivered my 4th child via C section and from the time I entered labor and delivery until the time I left, I felt very supported. Nurses Anne and Heidi where so great, Dr steen was amazing the lactation nurse Kerry was too and the anesthesiologist J.Noel was awesome as well. They all made sure I was doing okay during my times of interaction with them. They ensured I felt comfortable and knew what was going on. My delivery was so smooth. I highly recommend Adventist! Their labor and delivery crew was the best!

I had an ectopic pregnancy which made me stressed and scared probably due to so much contradicting information online. During this unpleasant time I was dreading going to labour and delivery unit to get my shot but the care I received there by Kris wasn’t unnoticed. She was so friendly but not over the top, very knowledgeable, she answered every question I had and I had many! She was just easy to talk to and made me pretty comfortable despite the circumstances. The best hospital I have ever been in! I was transported to the hospital from Long Beach, WA. and I ended up having surgery there and I have to say the surgeon, Dr. Crook was the best!! I got the best care there and I'd go back in a heartbeat for any further medical procedures.

Portland Adventist has been the place I keep goung back to. I had both my daughters at Portland Adventist Hospital. I've been from Providence to St Vincent's to Salmon Creek to PeaceHealth, only to find I really like Portland Adventist. It's a smaller size hospital. Much easier to navigate. If you find you have to stay in the hospital CONGRATS YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A PRIVATE ROOM WITH YUMMY FOOD. OSHU has partnered with them. For instance the Knight Cancer treatment Center now has a satellite home at Portland Adventist. I’ve been in the Birthing suites…just like home. Cardiac center is top notch with great doctors and staff is efficient in getting you checked in, the nurses are awesome.Help take the “scary” out of being there. I’ve been to the X-ray, CT scan and Pts can area. You need to first check in at the front desk area. Blood work needs to go through the check in area too. 5/2022 walking into the hospital you will first need to pass by the Health check person. If you don’t have a mask, they’ll give you one. I did hear the Health check person tell someone NO CHILDREN ALLOWED and they are very ridged about visitors. I’d call first and find out what the newest news is in their policy on visitors. Seems right now only one person can come. They can come multiple times and you cannot switch people. So call first. Everything changes on a week to week basis.

My 86-year-old mother was brought to Portland Adventist by ambulance after a fall in her apartment. During this time of the coronavirus, we were very concerned about her well-bring since she has several risk factors. From the moment she arrived I was in regular communication with nurses, doctors, and social workers assigned to her. Each one was professional, thoughtful, well-informed, and kind. These are good people. Whenever I called I reached someone quickly, I was listened to patiently, and my mother is leaving after six days much stronger than when she arrived. The social worker, Brian, helped arrange her placement and helped me with every transition detail. I live 3000 miles from Oregon, so his consideration was a lifesaver for me. I highly recommend this hospital.

I recently had to have cervical surgery and was placed in the hands of Dr. Bret Ball and the staff at Adventist health. This was my first major surgery and my anxiety was through the roof, but from the staff in reception to the nurse that checked me out of the hospital, I was greeted by people that left me feeling I was in great hands and that they truly cared about my well being. I wish I could thank all the nurses, doctors, anesthesiologists and support staff personally. You made a very traumatic experience about as pleasant as it could be. It's been a week since my surgery and I have had a relatively pain free recovery, Life is looking bright again and I thank you all. They only rate up to five stars, I would go at least ten. Laurie

The atmosphere seemed busy but it was flowing through very organized. All the stuff played an important role into our visit. We both felt like we were the only ones there for a treatment. im a new patient (never gone to a doc before for primary care or anything beyond a immediate issue) came in for depression and all that jazz and mentioned i should prob get my uh, lady visit scheduled too while chatting with the nurse. wasn't prepared for it to happen right then but they said they could so i went ahead with it. nurse explained it all (made me feel a lot better, first time getting it done) and it was quick n easy and nothing i should have even been nervous about. the whole visit was very pleasant and welcoming, she basically held my hand (figuratively) and managed to get my answers through my crying lol. she wasnt pushy and had some info i wished i had before. anyway, my doc was amazing and was super easy to talk to <3 highly recommend Dr. Britney Menson A social worker from here has been callin to check in and help me figure out if a counselor is a good fit, I absolutely love her. She's great and super helpful

I was taken to the emergency room by ambulance, because of a irregular heartbeat. I am being generous giving the visit a 3. I understand the inner workings of emergency rooms having 30+ years experience working in other Emergency Rooms. The physician was fantastic! The nurses were understaffed, Lab & X-RAY staff were timely and kind. However the ER Support Staff seems to drag the entire operation down. I needed to use the call button X2 both times the woman was short and rude and didn't follow up. After several hours I used the call button for the 3rd time to say I was leaving, the doctor came in and he was surprised to hear the X-ray he was waiting for had been done for almost 2 hours. He was apologetic and had me released within half an hour. Once home my husband told me how poorly he was treated by the front desk when he arrived. The man told him to go sit down! He waited over an hour no one said anything to him he reported that the man at the desk kept glaring at him, so he didn't approach the desk again until the man stepped away. He was then allowed to see me. I told the nurse and doctor that he was on his way from work, they said they would send him in when he arrived. I never left the room, so was no reason to keep him waiting. He is soft spoken man, and was anxious there is no reasonable excuse for how he was treated. I believe that the changing clientele, and population explosion possibly have left staff lacking, customer service is as important in the ER as any other business. Should I need care again I will go anywhere else.

I had a scheduled Urethral Diverticulectomy and the team I had was outstanding. I have a severe phobia to needles and my nurse Susan was so patient and walked me through the whole thing and even numbed me before the IV, she made me feel safe and cared for. A woman named Jessica from the lab also had to draw my blood and she made me feel very calm and i've never had a blood draw so quick and painless. I couldn't have had a better experience, especially since this was my first surgery and I was really scared. Everyone was incredibly patient and sweet, brought me warm blankets and anything I needed before and after operation.

This week we needed to go to the emergency department for an urgent medical concern. Our experience there was across the board fabulous. As both my husband and I are medical professionals we knew what to look for. From the front desk to the nursing, to the doctors and X-ray techs they were spot on professional, thorough and personable etc Due to the urgent nature of his symptoms he was seen immediately ( even with a fairly full waiting room ) and had a cat scan within 15 minutes. We were glad we did not go to the closest hospital to our house and traveled the extra 10 minutes to go to Adventist. He stayed overnight to complete all the tests and assure it would not progress to a full blown stroke. Can not recommend them highly enough. So grateful to have this hospital and their associated professionals in our community.

I just want to say that all Nurses and RT in ICU are amazing. They took realy good care of my mom while she was there. We went in as stranger and we part as friends. They made her and us as comfortable as possible. They are very attentive. Their goal was to get her better and to get us back to Cali. As for the rest of the hospital it is very clean. The cafeteria serves vegan food and its good coming from someone who loves meat, and they're inexpensive. The 3rd floor nurses are great too. Security guards are great. They let you have a trailer on the premises if necessary for a small reasonable fee.

The nurses and care team at Adentist gave my family and myself the best first time experience. Everyone who came into our room was so loving and caring and made sure that I was comfortable and that my boyfriend was also taken care of. They are an amazing group of nurses and doctors. I had a total knee replacement in July. From the beginning I knew this was a class operation.There is an entire floor that is devoted to knee and hip replacements. First of all you attend a short class on what to expect before, during and post operation. It was very informative. The operation took place and I was at the hospital for a few days rehabbing with fellow patients. Excellent staff of nurses, doctors, physical therapists.What a great experience with the exception of actually having it done. I am almost looking forward to the day when they do my other knee.

After several close calls with congestive heart failure, I had excellent care every time. both in the E.R. and upstairs, 3 times in 3 months! The food is gourmet, even with the "heart healthy" menu. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, it made my stays much less daunting, and if the beds weren't from hell, I'd give them a perfect 5+! But they say there's a five-year plan to replace them, so God forbid I have to stay with them again in the near future, there's a chance I'll get a good bed next time. Beds notwithstanding, if you are going to need hospital care -- this is definitely the place to get it!

Due to a sudden eye injury, I visited ER at this facility. Every single person during my encounter was super nice; from security guy to the treating physician. The nurse put a drop into my eye immediately after arrival to ease the burning and the pain while they were doing the paperwork. The the physician Mrs. Cooperate performed a lengthy and thorough evaluation. The next day, my eye was doing much better. She even called to follow up with me. Great, knowledgeable and caring nurses and staff. Highly recommend this facility. Thank you everyone.

I have been to this ER many times for myself and with other family members they are always quick (for an emergency room) and have always provided great care! Each time the registration / tech / check in runs smoothly. The nurses are great and the doctors aren’t arrogant! There is always room for improvement though which I’m not even sure if this is a hospital issue but more of a community issue.... the patients that come in are sketchy sometimes for example once an abusive husband was in the waiting room threatening his wife and child which was scary! They could have responded sooner with security! However it was addressed just little things like there clients BUT I don’t feel it’s there fault people are nuts:) over all they are my first choice for an ER visit in the area. There medical physicians near the hospital are great too! If you need a primary doctor!

I had knee surgery yesterday. This has been my 3rd surgery at Adventist and each time has been a great experience. Yesterday, though, was extraordinary - the nurses and staff were really great, the doctors and my anesthesiologist were very thoughtful and caring. All to top it off, nearly every staff member I came in contact with held amazing conversations and were quite funny, especially in the pre-anesthesia/ surgery area! I am very pleased I came back to Adventist.

My son was in the care of the Adventist hospital and their staff from May 13th to May 24th and received the best care anyone could ever hope for. Sadly he passed away after a week at home on Hospice care after he was discharged. The doctors (all but one) on the third floor and the doc I met in the ER were simply the most caring and compassionate I have ever met during the most difficult time I have ever experienced and that no parent should ever have to deal with. The nurses and aids were spectacular with the care they gave Aaron and in the way my family and friends were treated. I didnt know that a hospital and staff existed. I wish my father would have been able to have received the same care here in Ohio. If I were ever going to have to be hospitalized I wish it could be at Adventist

We were told to take our son to another hospital, and they were ready for us. We sat in the waiting room for 2 hour before our son was even looked at. Another 90 minutes waiting to see a doctor. After 6 hours and my son looks at me and said “ mom I’m really scared” i told them we were leaving. I would be taking my son to another hospital. When leaving the other hospital, I was told if I wanted second rate care fine. Adventist is not second rate! If you want care, compassion and doctors and nurses that really care. My son’s doctor came in and told us straight up, I don’t know I need consultant other professionals. When he came back he was ready to answer all our questions. Thank you!

Not the best place by no means. My experience was just a quick e.r. visit for my hubby. He was in a lot of pain in his back. I gave 3 stars because of quickness and kind staff. All they did for him was give him two pain pills and a prescription no thorough look at what was causing the pain. Staff are nice. Senior as a security officer doesn't really make me feel safe just saying. So if your just looking for a scrip or pain meds it's fine but if u actually want to know what's wrong ya might want to go elsewhere.

I had surgery a little over two weeks ago, Dr. Tella was my surgeon, he didn't come to my room before surgery to talk to me or after surgery, he only talked to my husband and never came to my room after words to talk to me to tell me what exactly he did. while i am happy with the out come i am not please with lack of information. i went in this week to get stitches removed and the assistant only cut off the knot to the stitch, when i ask her if she was sure they were all out she said yes, well i got home i half of the stitch was still in my knee on two different stitch areas, I am not happy that she didn't check to see if they were completely out.

My mother was having difficulty breathing. When I approached admitting, one of the staff helping another patient heard my mother's symptoms. He immediately took her to a room and within 15 minutes she was given an IV, an EKG, Chest x-ray, blood tests, etc. At one time, there were (literally) 9 people in her room, including a doctor overseeing her care. I can't say enough good things about the staff at Adventist. Thank you!!

Stayed two nights in here for my son’s birth and had an amazing experience. The nurses at the family birth center were amazing, caring and compassionate. I personally want to thank each and every one of them for their hard work during my labor and delivery; especially nurses Gwen, Allie and Jacoba. They were beyond awesome. And my angel midwife Peggy Hayes, CNM created simply the best care. At Adventist, they keep you in the same room for labor and delivery and postpartum. They have jacuzzi tubs and birthing balls in the rooms. My husband and I were quite comfortable in there; plus you can order on a room service menu (delicious) from LivingWell Bistro. All the staff were super helpful. During my hospital stay, they taught me many things such as swaddling, nursing, effective burping, basic baby care, etc. As first-time parents, we really appreciated that. Overall, I would highly recommend this hospital for childbirth.

I've continued my care throughout the years and currently seeing & treated by the Best Caring Doctors and Specialists who are Extremely Educated in their own positions. Many visits to the ER Department, by walk-in and Ambulance. Been admitted countless times & have had countless procedures and surgeries. You receive Excellent care, and make sure your as comfortable as possible and treat you like family. PORTLAND ADVENTIST MEDICAL CENTER IS AN EXCELLENT HOSPITAL, HAS HIGHLY QUALIFIED & PROFESSIONAL DOCTORS, SURGEONS, INCLUDING ALL STAFF! (Even a jump on my Dead Car Battery) My Son also has continued his Medical Care with PAMC, starting with his Pediatrician at Birth to his Now Adult PCP. I highly recommend this Beautiful, up to date Hospital to anyone. Employees are kind, curtious individuals who work together as a team, making patients as comfortable as possible in every way. They make sure you are taken care of to the best possible way.

I want to thank everyone on the psychiatric ward. Adventist was the BEST hospital we have been to. They worked with us and helped more than any other hospital. At first I thought it was really sad that they had a outdated TV. I offered to donate one and then the social worker explained that on the first level they are just trying to stabilize patients. She explained that they really have no desire for TV or games..That was huge for me. Once stable they move up to what I am use to seeing in a hospital..Thanks again!!!!

Adventist Medical Center in Portland,OR is the most caring, compassionate hospital. Everyone there is so nice. The doctors,nurses,staff is outstanding in their field of work. They make you feel comforted when you are there as a patient. They have also saved my life back in 2009 when I was treated for pancreatitis & double pneumonia. I thank them so much for all that they do. The hospital itself has private rooms which are needed when you are really sick and don't want to be a bother to your room mate.

I worked at this hospital in the 80’s and 90’s. I saw a lot behind closed doors and on the floors and worked a lot of night shift. I was always amazed at the Adventist philosophy towards health care. Such compassion for the ill and the empty from nurses, Doctors and ancillary staff. It was the best job of my life and the most rewarding as a career while employees there. I was quite young at the time, and my family situation was quite stressful. PAMC was my family, and I was always eager to go to work because the staff at PAMC treated me with such kindness, respect and love that I’ve never been able to replicate 30 years later. Don't let them call American Medical Response for transporting patients for a non-emergency trip...!!! Adventist arranged for transportation from the hospital to Village Health Care ( a 5 mile trip ), $806.68, non-emergency, no IV's and NO rush..... Medicare doesn't cover this cost and AMR won't explain the $161.33 per mile charge.... My mom is 85 and broke her hip, went to Adventist, received great care but how is a retired senior on a fixed income suppose to afford this bill..... To Portland Adventist: Please review policies of transport services and make AMR your LAST choice..... (unless someone is getting a kickback for non-emergency transports...?)

The out-patient pharmacy here is the best I have ever been to. Their staff is supper friendly and they do everything they can to get you on your way as fast as possible. If you need perscriptions filled I would recommend to go here.
