The doctors are great but the office never runs on time. I’ve had two appointments in the last week and they were half an hour behind each time. The second appointment was for a simple blood draw. 30 minutes late! Wild to me.

"New West Physicians Ascent Family Medicine" - that is an easily garbled mouthful, isn't it? Perhaps it indicates a merger of some sort? Did the New West Physicians join Ascent Family Medicine? Or was it the other way around? Well, I recently began to use this practice after a long time with another doctor. That doctor’s office was right across the street, in fact! My insurance through work had changed, and so I had to make a change, too. I picked this practice simply due to geography (or perhaps proximity). It was close to Rose Hospital, which I have come to know well. I didn’t do any research on the practice or the doctor, but decided to simple give it a try and then move again if needed. Well, luckily, it was not needed. I have been very happy with my choice. The staff members are friendly and efficient; the doctors and nurse practitioners are thorough and conscientious. My own doctor is both optimistic and analytical. Easy to work with, and to trust. He has seen me for regular check-ups, and he also helped me get through a medical event that could have been fatal. I was quite grateful for his skill and his knowledge during that time – and I still am! The rest of the office was helpful, too. I’ve had to use the on-call system once, the response on that occasion was quick and effective. Yes, the name of this practice is a bit awkward. I don't know whether the New West Family Physicians joined Ascent Medicine, or if the Ascent Physicians joined Family Medicine of New West. But it's a good practice. I give them my strongest recommendation.

I haven't needed to be seen in a few years and with COVID, I delayed my regular checkups. Returning to this office has been such a great experience. With so many health professionals burnt out, it was so amazing to see how friendly, kind and patient the front desk staff were. They clearly are valued and treated well by this practice and have been an absolute pleasure to work with. This office is BUSY and you will have to wait a bit when calling on the phone but it is so worth it. Thank you all for taking such good care of us, you are making a positive difference in our community.

I was trepidatious to change doctors. My favorite doctor of all time retired. However, everything went perfectly.. The doctor was fully aware of my health. Dr. Zonca immediately calmed me with his knowledge, and his pleasant and concerning attitudes. The proper tests were given and I received a follow up call with all the info I needed, along with a suggestion of what to use in lieu of a statin,, (I recently found a statin was causing my legs to cramp). I feel very confident in this change to a new doctor, and discovered it will be easy to contact them any time about anything. It was really reassuring, and I want to thank them, (all the employees who made everything enjoyable and simple), so much.

I have always had a great experience with the doctors and PAs at Ascent. However, the front desk staff is often disrespectful and rude. Over the years that I have been to Ascent, the front desk has 1. Scheduled me under the wrong patient, 2. Scheduled me for a follow up immunization outside of the wrong time frame, after I confirmed this time frame was correct prior, was told yes, and then was notified that it was actually wrong when I arrived the day of my appointment, and 3. Scheduled me with a PA that does not work on that specific day. They called to confirm that appointment a week prior and then two days prior to my appointment told me she actually does not work on those days and I need to reschedule. I completely understanding that mistakes happen, as do last minute changes. This is not my frustration. My frustration is that when I express that a mistake happened, the front desk is often rude, does not show courtesy, or attempts to avoid the mistake from happening in the future. Today when I told them that I made my appointment over a month ago and could they please try to notify me sooner, if possible, if an error was made or a change in the schedule happens, the women at the front desk rudely said "Well, it was a last minute change so I don't know what to tell ya." Really a simple "I apologize, this was a last minute change, we will try our best to notify you sooner should this happen again," would suffice. Although, the level of care once you get past the front desk is great, the office staff needs to practice common courtesy when interacting with patients.

I have been a patient at this practice for 20 years. However, after the older doctors retired and they moved to their new office space, I have noticed a marked decrease in customer service. I have had to make multiple calls, as well as my pharmacy in order to have my prescriptions refilled. These are maintenance medications I have been on for years and must take. I called this morning and asked to speak with the practice manager and have not yet received a call back and I probably won't. I am seriously considering switching to a different practice, even though I really like my new doctor.

Leaving me with a warm and fuzzy feeling of doctors and staff that care about my medical needs and concerns. I really like our doctor and have been seeing him for many years, long before New West took over. However since New West things feel more business and less "caring" . Our last visit we came for wellness physicals. There was no one there who knew how to draw blood, yet that is one of the main parts of a wellness physical. They had inexperienced people stab my wives arm twice before deciding that we should come back for a blood draw. So now I need to take another few hours off work and return to finish what never should have happened in the first place. A simple phone call to reschedule us or tell us ahead of time that there is no one working that day to draw blood before you stab at my wife's arm several times before giving up, would have gone a long way. We will keep coming because we still have faith in our doctor but everything else there leaves a lot to be desired.

Dr. Talley was awesome. The first doctor I saw at this office was Dr. Zonca, then Dr. Chandra Houpt(?), and now Dr. Talley. Every single one of them is great. But I'm writing this review because the women working the front desk did cause an issue with me. I rescheduled my Tuesday appointment to Wednesday due to doctor illness. So when I came in, the person working the desk said they tried to call me but the doctor wasn't in. I don't believe I received any call. They could get me at 2pm; my original appointment was 11am. I showed her a text confirming the 11am appointment, but she said the systems were not connected, which does seem a little ridiculous. The main point I have trouble with, is the woman at the front desk was rude. She was acting like I was at fault for not getting the call. And I didn't even receive a cursory apology or sorry for the confusion. I've been in before where the ladies up front are talking very loudly about their weekends and romantic pursuits. Annoying? A little, but on the whole not a big deal. but coming in after already rescheduling, being treated dismissively, and not hearing even an apology or any thanks for rescheduling is gross. Honestly, if it were not for the awesome doctors, I'd be trying to find a new doctor to attend. Someone needs to whip the front of the house into shape and teach some basic customer service.

Dr. Zonca is a great doctor and really takes the time to get up to speed on a patient before entering the room. He is kind, practical, supportive and gives quality care. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that I have had issues with some of the staff in the past, but some of those individuals are no longer present, and it seems to be getting better. Keep it up.

Dr. Liesmaki is frickin' amazing. I've been seeing her for years, and if she ever leaves I'm going to follow her. She's knowledgeable, never seems rushed, is very pleasant to talk to and seems genuinely interested in me. I feel like a person and a patient rather than (at some other doctor's offices) an inconvenience and a payment. I also like how convenient it is that I can get my blood drawn right there in the office. I refer everyone I can to this office. I drive 45 minutes to come here, and I drive past probably 100 other doctors on my way to this office, but Dr. Liesmaki is worth it. I'd drive twice that far for this level of care!

I felt very well taken care of, and I didn't feel rushed as I have with other physicians in past experiences at other practices. Even Brittany, who called me with lab results, was kind and willing to go above and beyond for me when I had a question. I would recommend this practice to anyone I know!

They did a great job making me feel comfortable with the CoVid-19 situation. When I arrived the waiting room had been rearranged and laid out to accommodate social distancing. There were multiple hand sanitizer stations and many Kleenex boxes. I checked in and they immediately moved me to my own room. Everything was done in that room (exam, blood draw, etc.). After my appointment, I exited from another door and was finished. Very efficient and safe. Good Job New West!

I enjoyed my visit with my doctor, Emily Shupe Talley. She is really friendly and professional. It never seems like she’s rushing you and is willing to answer all your questions. I would recommend her. My only issue is that I am rarely seen at my appointment time so this can be an inconvenience. I make my appts early in the morning because by the end of the day, they can get really behind.

McKenzie Kline P.A. is simply the best type of provider you could hope for. I've worked in the medical field for over 18 years, I've had experiences with every type of provider out there in my line of work and I don't hand out compliments freely unless I truly believe them. She has a great memory,even when she hasn't seen me for 6 months, she actively listens to concerns, is proactive, and knowledgeable. She makes me feel valued and that I am her only patient at that moment. I've never felt rushed. She also returns phone calls promptly. (Usually within the same day.) I've never had a bad experience with her.

They made an adjustment for me and the doctor stayed after hours to see me. My husband and I have both gone to this family practice and are happy with the way that the doctors educate us on our ailments. They don't just prescribe rx and send you on your way. They sit with you and discuss and investigate each occurence...like you want your doctors to do! I think the office staff is friendly and do their best to accommodate your scheduled visits. I am happy with McKenzie Klein and Emily Shoupe both (PA's) and Doctor Zonca. One area that my husband and I are taken by surprise is that when they do prescribe rx... it has been a very pricey prescription. I will remember next time I go in to ask for generics or something more affordable.

I have been seeing Dr. Zonca and the staff at Ascent Family Medicine (formerly Peak Family Medicine) for eleven years for regular checkups and for specific issues as they have presented. My experience with Dr. Zonca and with the staff--from medical staff to reception staff to billing staff--has been entirely positive and productive of good results. Following my move to Denver from Greeley I asked two physicians (one a surgeon and another a gastroenterologist) in two different offices to recommend a primary care physician. Moved here from UC Health. I was tired of seeing a different doctor each time I went in. AFM I get to see the same doc and the reception staff is always very prompt in getting me in to appointments. The courtesy valet makes it easy to get to and not have to worry about parking.

I like Dr Liesmaki, but her office staff, not so much. Dr Liesmaki order a test, and I was told they would call me to schedule. After a couple of days, I emailed the office to ask if they ordered the test, and was told no, but they would fax the order over. Why should I have to remind the office staff, to do their job. Not happy, as this is the second time I have had to call office staff to get things done.

I have always been skeptical of seeing a PA for a primary care. Quite some time ago I needed to establish with a doctor and this location was close to work. I have been Seeing Emily for years and I know she is awesome but today I got to sit in my physical and tell her all the things that were wrong and have her listen and reassure me with no judgement and with care. The most amazing person listened to my desire to remove my Mirena IUD and gave me 0 push back like I have only heard of other women having to deal with. She is respectful and personable and is exactly what a medical provider should be. I recommend her a million times over!

2020 update. My new doctor was great. Doctor Zonda had great health advice. He also came across as really caring when speaking about my health. Great doctor. Would definitely recommend! Doctor Deric Rachjiabun is the best. He takes his time and answers all your questions. You never feel rushed and you get lots of advice. _____ 2019 Doctor Deric moved. New Doctor is Doctor Nick. He seems very knowledgeable. Arely and Ashley were phenomenally nice when it came to my fear of needles. Wow, very understanding. Thank you Arely and phlebotomist Ashley.

I've been going to Ascent and seeing Dr. Liesmaki as my PCP for two years. She has always been great and there has never been any problems. However, I was disappointed this last week when I called to make a sick visit appmt and was told that there were no openings for three days. Luckily, I was called back and they were able to fit me in before I went to an urgent care because there was a patient cancellation. I was unable to see my regular doctor (understandable for a sick, last minute visit). The provider I saw was fine but sent over an electronic script to the pharmacy for a narcotic, rather than providing me with a written copy (which means the pharmacy has to take additional steps to verify the script). This has resulted in a delay in getting my medications. Overall, a dissatisfying experience, considering the main reason I see a PCP as a healthy adult is so that I have someone to see for the rare occasions I get sick, I don't want to have to jump through hoops to try to get an appointment and then to get meds when I'm not feeling well.

I have gone to see Emily Shupe-Talley for at least the last 7 or 8 years, and I think she is fabulous. She takes all the time I need to listen to everything that's going on in my life, in case there's something that's relevant to what I've come in for. She also trusts that I know my body, and listens to my input, and rather than telling me to just take another pill gives great suggestions for lifestyle related fixes. Emily has referred me to great specialists when necessary, and run any problems up to the MDs in the practice when she wasn't sure. Everyone in the office has been professional and friendly. The one drawback I can think of is that it sometimes takes them a while to return phone calls from voicemails. Otherwise, FAB.

Super friendly and laid back staff! Overall a perfectly fine experience. My only beef is there is a lack of organization and follow through. For example, the PA said he would show me how to do a thorough breast exam before my pap smear but didn't. Then I felt weird asking for it, so I didn't. He also suggested a prescription for a mild sleep aid, I struggle with pretty consistent insomnia, then never ordered it or mentioned it at the end. Maybe he was new??
