Every time I’ve gone, I have gotten widely varying haircuts from the different barbers even though I’ve asked for the same cut every time. Most recently, I asked for a crew cut and they ended up putting a part in my hair…? And the way they cut your hair, you are facing away from the mirror so I didn’t know what was happening until it was done. Overall they do a pretty good job but there seems to be a lack of consistency.

Should be called Top Notch! Kelly Dunlap the owner is nothing less than an Angel! Had a friend needing trimmed and cut that was having a time with his health at a local hospital. She didn’t hesitate to come & give him a freshened up look! It changed his whole outlook! He felt better just getting to be presentable to visitors. "Really nice place" ... [I'm just updating my review. My husband has worked there for a while now. I remember when we first came in together. I couldn't get over how nice the staff was to us. And not to mention the decor was out of this world- SUCH AN AWESOME VIBE! A big shout out to Kelly & Scott! You guys are so ginuene and kind! Mike loves it there and Im so happy to know he's in a place he loves. I can't thank you guys enough for all you do! My family truly appreciates you. Took my son to them for his very first hair cut and they were amazing!! Scott did a great job cutting his hair and helping him feel comfortable, he's only 17 months old. I'm so pleased! They even gave him a first hair cut certificate. So cute!! We will definitely be going back.

Great barber shop! The staff is friendly and walk-ins are always welcome. Mike is my favorite barber I've ever had, hands down. I told him how I wanted my hair cut once my first time in his chair a couple years ago and haven't had to explain it again since!

I was in Charleston for the weekend and went to this barbershop because it was the closest one to my hotel. The online hours hadn’t been updated so I arrived after close, but they were very gracious and still happy to help me out. I gave a quick explanation of what I wanted and boy, he delivered. This is easily the best haircut I’ve ever had. Even trimmed up my eyebrows and the edges of my beard ! After just the haircut I would have given 5 stars, but then I was given a shampoo, hot & cold towel treatment, quick facial massage, styled, the whole works. I was blown away. It truly is an experience, not just a haircut. I’ve never been so cared for or had a better time at a barbershop. Do yourself a favor and go!

Such a great experience, my son had his second hair cut here. Wonderful people, and great service. He got an extreme amount of hair taken off and a design put into his face. They did great. He loved it. Price was extremely affordable.

I love this place. Scott H. Is an excellent barber and so good with my son as well. The place has a nice retro feel and plenty of entertainment to keep you occupied while you wait, although I’ve never had to wait more than 5 min.

I had decided for my wife’s birthday to have a hair style done for her. I had selected ulta but they cancelled on my last minute. I was then referred to tops off. I called and was greeted friendly. I set an appointment for her and was with Kelly. I must say that Kelly does a superb job!!! Since this date my wife has been going to Kelly and hasn’t had a issue one. I go to Scott Hensley and he’s top notch!!! This is a wonderful place to go for all your hair needs. I highly recommend Scott Hensley or Kelly. My wife Jennifer has been going to see Kelly for 6 months now and when she comes out it’s a WOW factor!!! Highly recommend this place to anyone

I only use Tops off Barber Shop and one other Barber Shop in the Charleston area. The owners are good people and very approachable. I had one incident there where I was unhappy and they were more than happy to make good on the matter. In fact, I'm sure that they welcome any input that helps them take care of their customers. Please just address it with some common sense and respect. Also, I know that no matter when I arrive, all of their barbers can do a good job. If you ask for a cut that a particular Barber thinks that another Barber in the shop can do better, they will tell you and move you to that chair. They really are a family type business that wants their customers to be happy and return!

I consider myself a difficult cut and this is something I recognize and accept about myself. No matter where I have went, I always ended up looking like a mushroom, regardless of the price I was paying. Today, that changed. My Barber, Scott, I told him to cut it how he thought it would look best. The time, attention to detail, conversation, atmosphere, value-- phenomenal. I have read some of the other low rating comments and it makes me sad that they didn't have the same experience that I did, because this shop is by far THE best one I have ever been to, and I don't say that lightly. Great job, you all! You just earned my business.

With the COVID-19 pandemic going on I hadn't had a haircut in awhile. Normal place I get my haircut was closed, so I turned to the internet to find somewhere to get my hair cut, & I discovered this place. I was promptly greeted upon arrival & met Scott Hensley who would be cutting my hair. Talking to Scott I found out he is an Army veteran & when I told him I wanted a high & tight he knew exactly what I wanted. I've found other places I've been for haircuts don't exactly get high & tights right. This barber shop has a very unique look & feel & I was totally surprised when I saw they had beer taps. Next trip I need to get a beer. I have found the new place I'm going to get my hair cut at from now on.

If you enjoy the feel of a classic men's haircut with the ability to please the newer styles and tastes this is the place. I always walk-in and they’re generally able to pencil me in without much of a wait. The decor is great. They work quick and make pleasant conversation. It’s a little hard to find a place that does a good androgynous haircut around this area, but I’ve liked every single haircut I’ve gotten here.

Fine cut and great atmosphere! But it is soooo over priced that I cannot ever justify going back. (My fault for not asking what the shave cost... but 50 bucks for a haircut and shave?!) 25 for a hair cut 25 for a shave Both were ok quality. Would return if the total cost was 25 + tip. I might consider returning for just a haircut...but I didn't feel the haircut was worth paying twice what I would elsewhere. I'd be paying for the atmosphere.

I dont want to be biased, but if your a male and have a beard and want a top notch haircut and beard trim you have to come here and ask for mike chrislip. He's extremely talented and friendly. He listens to what you want done and does an amazing job! Mike along with all the barbers have great talent and hospitality! Mike is just my go to guy. 🙂

Ok my hair came out perfect!!! Loved the shop it was professional the staff was very friendly they offered free drinks and for those who partake in it, they offers a free tap beer as well. The prices were so inexpensive and it was the coolest shop Iv ever seen with a hanging aquarium brick walls and while you wait and enjoy your beverages why not shoot some pool at there complementary pool table or watch Netflix on the big screen tv's. And as if that wasn't good enough there's hot shaves and a SPA!!! nails, massages, hot rock, facials, the works!!!!! If you ever come through charlson west Virginia I HIGHLY recommend tops off hair salon !!!

I was charged $50 for a mistake I didn't make. I should of complained but I just paid my money and will never go back. The lady did an amazing job on cutting my hair but she messed up big time by causing my hair to dread up by shampooing my hair. Took her hours to fix. Never even styled my hair. They kill it on the daily. A barber or barberess for any style. They serve women as well which some don't realize, but they do great from what I've seen. Nice as hell owners and drinks! Plus the beer club meets there and they have a pool table. All kinds of dope decor in a neo-50s style. How cool is that?!
