I have been to Alternative Health Associates a few times so far and have had excellent service. Upon arrival, the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. The building is very quaint with a calming atmosphere. A few months ago I got a facial with Vanessa which was soothing and I could tell she was very knowledgeable about her craft. She helped me formulate a skincare routine and gave good recommendations for specific products. She listened to my concerns and I left with glowing skin. I recently returned for laser hair removal, which Vanessa had recommended to me for my undesired back hair. My laser specialist was also very knowledgeable about hair removal and great at educating me about the process. The treatment was quick and easy! I can’t wait to see my results! As a man who has recently gotten into the beauty industry, I highly recommend Alternative Health Associates if you are looking for a highly knowledgeable and kind staff to take care of you!

When I first arrived for my appointment, I was greeted warmly and checked in. For my electrolysis consultation (and treatment), Cindy was amazing! She was pleasant and answered all my questions to help me understand the process. She eased any nervousness I was initially feeling and made me feel comfortable. I was actually able to have a short treatment session that same day. She described what the procedure might feel like and, overall, it was a very positive, pleasant experience working with her. I have already recommended to a friend.

I am (now was) a bit on the hairy side and nervous when it comes to pain. My skin is now even, smooth, and shave free. Deidra is kind, patient, and experienced! Laura and River are amazing at massages I sometimes fall asleep, waking up refreshed! This place is a gem and I'm thankful for 10+ years of great service. Oh, and we cannot forget about the welcoming and nice front desk staff. They make a way to squeeze an appointment in!

I have been there before for massage and it was amazing. So when I googled for Botox I immediately signed up for a free Botox consultation. I really liked Serenna. She gave me the low down on my needs no bs. Didn't candycoat my aging situation and didn't give me a complex that I look bad because of it. Gave me a professional opinion and let me know a solution. That was a more expensive solution than what I had planned on. However, did not give me a hard time when I said I had to save up for the service.

Serenna is so kind and very knowledgeable on her craft. I had gotten some Dysport done elsewhere in my eyebrow region a few weeks ago that made my eyebrows look like they had an extreme high arch, kind of like Jack Nicholson, not a good look in my opinion. Serenna with her high expertise corrected the area using Botox. She’s very gentle, I barely felt a thing and noticed a difference within a few days. It’s been a week and I’m so happy with my results and excited to have a Nurse Practitioner as my injector that I know I can trust and I can feel confident with my future results.

I have found my new massage therapist! Lisa Foulk is awesome! Super easy to talk to, she hears what my issues are and attends to all of them. She also provides some feedback on the areas of concern, things she notices and some tips on what I can do while I’m at home. She uses the right amount of pressure and her technique is so good that both times I’ve seen her, I fell asleep for a little bit. The reception staff are friendly as well, easy to get checked in, easy to check out. They do not have a parking lot but there is always plenty of street parking available. Unfortunately they do not take insurance but I was able to get the information I needed to submit a claim for reimbursement for my insurance. Looking forward to the facial I have scheduled with Sara, I have heard good things. So glad to have found you AHA!

Deidra was friendly, and fast! The laser machine here works well for me when what I assume are older models didn't do much elsewhere. It's well worth the 45+ minute drive for me to come here over other places for laser!

Cannot recommend this place enough. I've been going to electrolysis appointments for a few weeks and I'm already seeing results. The location is convenient and always easy to find free street parking around the corner. Appointments are easy to book on the phone or online. Cindy has been a delight to work with!

I think it’s about time that I share my amazing experience at alternative health as I have been a client for well over a decade, maybe two. Lisa is by far the best massage therapist in old town. And I have been to them all! If you workout like me, just book a deep tissue massage with her every 4 weeks and thank me later. My husband is also now a client and we have never felt better. I have also had nearly all of my laser hair removal and electrolysis with this team and I can not say enough about the level of comfort and professionalism I felt and still hairless after years! 😂😂The entire team at alternative health are amazing and through the years I have gotten nothing but exceptional service. Absolute 5-Star! I had the Deep Tissue Massage 60 Minute (Massage) with Lisa Foulk and I couldn't be happier. To start, Lisa has just a wonderful energy and calming personality, so the minute you get on the table you start to feel relaxed. I have significant issues with lower lumber and recent shoulder surgeries and Lisa was able to work around all of my issues, and she even applied pinpoint effort to muscles that have been strained due to overcompensation for damaged areas. Her deep tissue work with hands/forearms is the perfect touch with just the right amount of pressure to impact the muscle and get the deep knots moving. I highly recommend Lisa to anyone who needs deep tissue work! Lisa is an absolute EXPERT!

I recently returned to Alternative Health Associates for hair removal after a break. It's really nice to be back. Everyone I have ever encountered at Alternative Health has been friendly and downright delightful. I feel less like a customer and more like a friend. I chat and laugh often with everyone from the owner to the newest employees. The results of their hair removal services are unmatched by anyone else that I know of in the DC/MD/VA area. I have been to other places that were happy to zap me with a needle or a laser, but never seemed to produce results. But everyone at Alternative Health knows what they are doing and produces fantastic results. I live in Maryland, so coming down here is a long trip, but it is absolutely worthwhile. This is still the top place I recommend to friends. So far, everyone I know who has tried Alternative Health has been very happy.

I could write an essay about this but I'll just say simply: if you're trans and looking for a place, AHA is perfect. Just tell them your needs (I told them I'm a trans woman who just came out), and they paired me with an affirming technician. She was *essential* to helping me with my transition. They didn't try to sell me anything like some of the neighboring spas. The office gives you a very relaxed feeling. I have been using AHA for over 6 years now and I love it there!

She is skilled, trustworthy, honest and so nice. The reason I gave it a 4 star has nothing to do with her. She does get a 5 star. But it's a bit pricy. So that is why I made it a 4 star. But its been about a year now since my last visit, so its about time I make another appointment here soon. But yes. I so recommend her.

I have had Laser treatments for over 6 years now at various spas. They are the ONLY spa that I have been to that didn't try and push a sale on me. They listened to what I needed and was very honest. As a matter of fact, they told me in certain areas that I could just to electrology instead of laser since I just needed a few hairs treated. This saved me hundreds while another spa told me that I definitely needed a package of treatments. Staff is A++++.

They're also gentle, gracious, and knowledgeable about their expertise The reception is always professional and cheerful. I appreciate that they send you reminders or call to confirm appointments. The pricing is what I'd consider reasonable/fair for the area. Each room where the individual services are preformed are clean & sterile, but also relaxing and comfortable.
